Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsby, Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Sewn Salisbury, the usc Truths, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Seawan Salsbury Show.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
Seawan Tripley, Good morning, Sup. Yeah there there it is
in unison.

Speaker 5 (00:28):
I just simply say Sup, Okay, I need to say morning.
That's all we need to say. Is as simply as
Tripley and I did suck Man. What's I wonder what Texas?
How they're gonna respond to being one one? Joss tripping?
Who's on one? Where the Texas lose the I was
on an indy yesterday. I said, Hey, you did Dan

(00:51):
dakt Chastmin think who's gonna win? I said, well, I'm
actually going with the team with the better players. Yeah,
and that would be the Texan. That's exactly right now.
John Taylor is pretty good. Two little quickseye about that.
We'll get to it. Just to think about bars, you
gotta have a little sidebar.

Speaker 6 (01:04):
Is the.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
Unknown about Anthony Richardson. He saw a little bit of
him a man as he did. He is a you
can put a cape on him sometimes. That dude is
a freak show skill set, Superman tire he really is. Yeah,
Now how it applies to being a sustaining success at quarterback,
We're going to find out. And the other side is,
you know, for the first time going into a season

(01:27):
in a long time, here I feel like and we
can we'll discuss it at nauseam through it and what
you know, start today because the game's coming and with
no baseball game last night is but there's a lot
to talk about about the Astros and this down the
stretch stuff. But think about the last time you felt
going into a season that you could control another team's

(01:50):
power run game. Jonathan Taylor, Derrick Henry. They've been yashed
to the point at times of embarrassment, to the point
where I mean they've had their soul ripped from them
in the pad. Now, last year they did a better job.
I'm talking about in the past when these guys have
come in, you know, thirty four carries for two hundred

(02:13):
and forty yards whatever it's been. But they the physical
domination was almost like you know, how that kid will
come just you know, you know the guy who comes
back from college and goes to the prom with his
girlfriend who's two years younger. You know, the guy who
hangs around the high school dances. Yes, I almost feel
I almost feel like that's like this guy like with
these pro running backs, these big physical guys come back

(02:34):
and said, okay, let me go. Or the guy who
goes out there says, let me run around and play
with the seventh graders, and he's like twenty two, you
know the dude. Oh well, like, what's the movie? The
cop movie? Why why am I asking you this? But
we're one of the the Wayans brothers and white comedian. No, no, no,
it's a more recent one. They said let's be cops,
and they were just guys looking for a job. One

(02:55):
they both had jobs or they want a better job,
so they decided to be cops out of nowhere and
put fake uniforms on. And the one white comedian, you know,
basic white guy, is out there. This is in the
last seven eight years, five years. Ward's actually called Let's
be cops. Yeah, yeah, that's what's the white boys name
in that. One of the Wayans brothers is one with
the other one whoa triple e Jake Johnson, Yeah, Jake Johnson,

(03:20):
Damon Wayans Junior and Jake Johnson.

Speaker 6 (03:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:22):
Well he's like out there like during his days, he's
to play, but he's got he's a cop, but he's
out there playing with UH with the these UH like
eight twelve year olds playing football twelve dominating them right,
And I felt like that's what the running back has

(03:43):
done to us here, and I for the first time
going into a season, because I didn't feel like this
last year going in, I still felt like they had
some weaknesses, but they got better. Is you go in
thinking you're not you're not wearing us out with the
running back this time, You're gonna have to beat us
more ways in that meaning the Texans, And so I'm
anxious to see how stout they are inside. That'll be
a good key to watch. And then the unknown of Richardson.

(04:07):
They know what Stroud's about. You don't know enough about
what Richardson's about, what we see him for half last
year or something.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Right, Yeah, you mentioned running backs against the Houston Texans.
Just take Derrick Henry for example, twenty nineteen, one game,
he had two hundred and eleven rushing yards. Twenty twenty
he had two twelve, twenty twenty one, he had two fifty,
twenty twenty two, he had two nineteen and then Also
in twenty twenty two, he had one hundred and twenty

(04:33):
six one two, three, four five, five games against the
Texans over one hundred and twenty five yards each, with
four of those games being over two hundred yards rushing.
He averaged over one hundred and two yards every time
he played the Houston Texans.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
Yeah. So, and Jonathan Taylor is a good player and
you'll have to deal with him this week, So we'll see.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
How that goes. Yeah, I'm excited Fells back starting tomorrow night.
Can't wait. There's also some movement in college football. You're
USC Trojans jumping up. I think ten spots.

Speaker 5 (05:07):
Were they at thirteen? Yeah, so twenty three to thirteen,
and they replaced the team that beat him at thirteen,
which was I believe LSU was thirteen the game they
were Texas A and M in Florida State moving out,
I believe. Of the rankings and man, there was so
much to be said yesterday about the Texas A and

(05:28):
M offense that I saw from different riders, and of
course the fan base. They are upset. Yeah, if they
go out and do this again, well they shouldn't get
McNee state. But if they go out and kick rocks
for the month of September. Then I think you can
start to concern yourself now because it was Notre Dame
as a national televised game, and when you play that poorly,

(05:51):
obviously the folks are gonna come focus will come down
on you. But they were putrid offensively. They have got
to get better. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
And then also speaking of of college football, Dabos Sweeney
getting a lot of criticism for his lack of a
lack of an approach to the transfer portal. And I
don't know, man, I don't really like the transfer portal
because I don't like guys that just oh I got

(06:19):
beat out.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
I'm just going to go to four different schools.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
We kind of hit on that a little bit yesterday,
but I think there's something to be said to take
advantage of it. And Clemson just really isn't doing it,
and you can see it by the production on the
field and their offense, especially with their quarterback play, just
has not been good. It's been kind of stale like
last year and then early I mean just one game

(06:43):
against a really good Georgia team, but I just feel
like they're often just kind of stays the same.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
There's no innovativeness. Well it has. It's been blas since
Trevor Lawrence lest so obviously it wasn't Dabosweeney. It was
the quarterback, I guess. Or it was the fact that
he just a supreme talent and Dabble was more aggressive there.
It's almost it feels like his resistance and I get it.
I don't like it either. But if you don't, it's

(07:09):
if you don't use nil in the in the in
the you know, if you're not using the name, image
and likeness, money and you're collective on campus. If that,
if you're not embracing it, you're getting left behind. Right now,
Do I like what? I rather build a team with
going and recruiting. Here's the problem, though, you say I'm
gonna build it with with recruits and solid Clemson commits.

(07:30):
Stop the lifetime commitment. These kids are committed to the university.
You'll get some. You saw two of them, nuss Meyer
and Miller Moss this weekend who stayed through it, and
they're getting rewarded for it by the way they're playing.
And finally, but you can either if you don't, if
you don't join them, you're gonna get beat and I

(07:52):
don't like it, and I want to build it. But
here's the thing. You say, I'm gonna go get all
my guys like in baseball, or we're gonna home grow them.
The problem with transfer portal and now with football you
think it's homegrown. Second, somebody offers them two hundred thousand
dollars more, they're gone, right, They're out. So the the
we talk about, well, why doesn't that coach have loyalty?
These players aren't loyal to legacy program. I'm not saying

(08:14):
it's not fair to say all of them, but for
the majority, if you offer them more money, they're gonna leave,
playing three and four different programs every year, just chasing dollars.
And if people don't want to hear that, but they do.
Now the majority of guys stay. But when a transfer
portals filled with what a thousand guys every years years,

(08:35):
it's crazy. So if dabble, here's the problem. Mike Krzyzewski.
While Duke was good to have said this before he
hated one and done, he was not going to recruit him.
Well Calipari, the rest of the world did. And when
Duke got back to recruiting one and done, guys like
Van Carrol, you know, or guys like that that. Okay,

(09:00):
I know that Hubert Davis as the coach. That's my point.
But when Mike Krzyzewski said, well, I guess I better
go get those guys, then you're you just can't keep
up because they're your best players in the NBA. Guess
what they are? Want and done? College guys now or guy,
I mean guys that your best your highest draft picks,
should I say, or guys that are leaving after a

(09:20):
year maybe two. For the most part, guys aren't staying.
So you're if you're Clemson and you just say, you
know what, we're gonna go with recruits, and we're just
gonna recruit guys and we're going the old fashioned way. Unfortunately,
whether we like the old school way or not, you
can't keep up because that guy you think, yeah, he's
committed to Clemson, offers him three If let's just say

(09:41):
club Nick has a decent year, somebody offers him a
million dollars to leave, You think he'll consider it. Yeah,
he would consider it. Correct, So I'm not. I don't
know ifhel I don't know where his heart. I don't
even know if his families if his dad, you know,
the kid from Austin. I don't know if his family's
legacy there, what have you. My point is that Dabo
Sweeney his resistance to but some if the rules say
do it, whether you like it or not. Guess what

(10:03):
if the rules say go for it, why wouldn't you?
It's amazing we don't eat Clemsons like a top twenty team.
And he realized going into the season, I didn't really
even give them that much love, did you. It's like
it's almost fake ranking right now. They may go win
them all, but the feeling I have is, oh, you
can push Clemson will lose three. Clemson's going to lose two,

(10:26):
and it's not fair to them. But it just feels
weird because it feels like it almost feels like they're
archaic right now. That's what That's what I'm saying. It
feels like it's like, dabble, you've got it, You've got
a change, dude. Yeah, and unfortunate or at least make
some adjustments. You don't have to buy all the way in,
but be better. And then there's the opposite where all
you are is transfer portal Florida State throw all their

(10:47):
cards on dj U jung La lay and you know what,
they're not going to make the playoff because of it.
If this keeps up down too, you know, they can't win.
They can't lose another game. They're done. They cannot lose
another game. Now they're saving graces. Clemson got beat at
least once, and North Carolina will lose at some point
during the year. I don't know if the Miami Hurricanes
are going to lose much. And cam Ward's off the

(11:09):
charts that that's great usage of the transfer portal. And
I think they thought they were gonna get the thame
from dj but Clemson, they they got a lot to
do and it starts with their head coach.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
I think that's the craziest thing about this twelve team playoff,
which we discussed last week, is that there's a real
possibility that a mediocre two loss Florida State team could
win the ACC and be a top four in the
in the freaking twelve team playoffs.

Speaker 5 (11:34):
Wouldn't that be fitting? And they're gonna get with a buy.
Wouldn't that be fitting after what happened to them last
year that all of a sudden they go loose two
get in and are the fourth seed a lot, while
you got quite frankly six teams behind them of the
twelve that can beat them nine times out of ten. Yeah,
like a one loss Ole Miss team coming in at
like the number eight Seedah oh yeah, right now today,

(11:58):
I feel like if Ole Miss played Florida State, did
they destroyed, they would beat the Brakes off, right, So
it's it's uh gonna be interesting how it goes. But
that's just the nature of it. They go and win
the rest of their games, they win. If they go
and win the rest of their games, you're looking at
a conference champion, right yeah, unless, of course Miami goes

(12:19):
and rolls to I mean, however, that acc shape point
is that they'll be in the hunt. But the way
they've looked the first two games, this looks nothing like
a team that belongs there. So I know it's early
and get it fixed. But there's some teams like A
and M that need some fixing to do. And Clemson, yes,
it's the transfer portal and anile. Stuff is just it's
just really really crazy. Let's stay with football, and let's

(12:39):
look at these Houston Texans. Captain's name yesterday, well, Stefan Diggs.
One of them. We'll talk about it nexton Sportstalks seven.
Sort of pro painters sort of with the sea, sort

Salisbury Show. Don't you know about a two step? I
can two step you better? You're in Texas. Your whole life.
You don't have to two step get the step in.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
You would be surprised how many people don't know how
to two step them not like the line dance and
I'm talking like two step. Yeah, they don't call it
three step for a reason, right, exactly, if you're three stepping,
dog step your ass off the dance floor, get two
or stepping, or if you got two left feet, see
you to the right, dog give me a little rhythm, man, Yeah,

(15:00):
make that tough. Yeah, it's really nice to put some
time in. Yeah, I'll tell you what though, you know
you talk about you know, basic white dudes. You watch
a basic white dude two step. They can two step
with the best of them. But my god, as soon
as the ying Yang twin comes on, that rhythm goes out.

Speaker 5 (15:16):
The damn window.

Speaker 4 (15:17):
Yeah, they start pelvic thrusting in their tight jeans and
T shirts tucked in.

Speaker 5 (15:21):
I mean, good god, what are we doing fellas?

Speaker 7 (15:23):
Hey?

Speaker 5 (15:23):
What do I really like? One of my favorite things
is when uh, you can read the date on the
quarter in the back of their jeans. Awesome, man, Well
that's if you put a quarter in the back of
your jean, You're an idiot, right, Yeah, you gotta put
that in the front. You can read the quarter. The
back's usually like a Copenhagen. Yeah, the circle can keep
it in there long enough, Just build a circle on

(15:45):
the party of jeans man horny.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
Don't the kids are they're they're they're putting those zins
in their mouths these days though.

Speaker 8 (15:53):
You know what zen is?

Speaker 9 (15:58):
What?

Speaker 5 (15:58):
Wh What's a whippet? I think what you're trying to say? No,
whip whipps. Want to see you whip it? Show I
could treat you right, that'll be tomorrow. Yeah, a whipp
it is some kind of drug, is it? Are they suck?
Yeah inhale something? Oh yeah, whip it like where you
take like that's what the kids are ready? Whip thing?

Speaker 7 (16:17):
What else?

Speaker 5 (16:18):
Hell? No, a zin? A zen is the brand of
a new like that? Is that a tobacco thing?

Speaker 7 (16:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (16:24):
Is that like a pouch? Yeah, tobacco went real real
it's got the nicotine in it and all tobacco pouch.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
Uh huh nuts. Yeah, look at google it z y
n check it out. No thanks, yeah, I'll pass. Yeah,
six milligrams of cool menthol for you in the morning.

Speaker 5 (16:46):
Check that out. That's nasty. Yeah, So what I'm saying.
One of those bad boys in your lip its. Yeah,
then roll over, Yeah, they'd roll over in French, your
girl that you Yeah, give me a couple of cans
there you go. Yeah, just put in the back and
build that little jean circle back there here you go. Yeah,

(17:08):
and then and then roll over and you know, tell
your guy the next morning. Hey, man, can I borrow is?

Speaker 7 (17:12):
In?

Speaker 5 (17:12):
What size roof? Do you think they jump off to
get in some of them jeans? Are you a league?
You seem like an old school jeans guy. No, that's
the boot, scoot and boogie.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
I ain't nothing but wrangler, brother wrangler. Yeah, like Brett Farv.
There's plenty of other gens to wear than just w regular.
Sorry to tell you, actually, for you, you probably were
a true religion, don't you know?

Speaker 5 (17:34):
Yeah, used to elways sevens remember when he was his
seven because were seven. I'm a I'll tell you what
jeans I like and they fit. There's Lucky brands A
good I wear Lucky Lucky brand good for if you
have if you have if you have nice I mean,
if you're athletic lower body, Yeah, so you can fit
in them. Yes, that's why I get That's why I

(17:54):
got it exactly. So I've been wearing Lucky brands. Yeah forever, man, Man, yeah,
we shouldn't get us an, you know, get turned out
of the stretch teams and jeans have changed back then
when it used to, you know, you'd stick to them
if you were free balling. You know what I'm saying,
you'd be hot out, you'd go wear jeans and you
start free ball It's like, man, that's just hygiene. That's
bad hygiene.

Speaker 6 (18:13):
Man.

Speaker 5 (18:15):
I come from California. That sounds aw. Come California and
people were freeballing jeans and regularly five degrees. I can yeah.
And for me, if it's like that feeling is I
need a little that's just not like yeah, there's no
there's no question about it. But they did. And then

(18:37):
you know, back in the day, it was just the
five on ones. You wore the five that was ones,
and that was the original. Yeah, it was you know what,
no doubt about it. The gangster. And so start doing
that and then you get the boot cutting all. I mean,
if you go all the way through and said I'm
looking for something that you know, then somebody turned me
onto these stretch teams. You know years when they started, like,

(18:59):
I didn't brace them first off, and then you put
him in and say, well, it used to be when
you'd sit down, you cut your if you wear a
tight jeans, you couldn't breathe. Right now they stretch. It's like, okay,
those are kind of gens and they're thinner instead of
that thick. But you free balled freeball in a para
fible was, dude, who is free balling in jeans here
with a regular accurrence? Back, I'm telling you, yes, exactly

(19:21):
straight And then it's like there's just bad hygiene, right,
that's awful. Yeah, it's a California like beach, you know
where you're really dude, it was a regular occurrence. And
I guarant asked ta in California there, it just was
did you have fall and jeans? I did? I did?
But then it just got it. It wasn't you. It's not.
It's not fun when it's you know, when when you're

(19:43):
hitting your knee cap and stuff, it's weird.

Speaker 6 (19:46):
So you have.

Speaker 5 (19:49):
So so you know, you tie them up right a
little bit with some what happens if you up with
some Tommy John box. What if you're not like you know,
well manicured like that. I feel like that's just got
to be even where you're talking to the wrong guy.
If that's if, then you're just frigging nasty.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (20:05):
Well, if you don't really trust people in California, I mean,
if you can grow a garden. Okay, now you get out.
You brought it up. I'm just asking no thanks, Yeah,
hard pass on that as well. I'm done out. But yeah,
so those jeans, those jeans will get you now you
got you can't. You can't freeball with those man, No
bad idea, dude. I'm just telling you. That's just crazy.

(20:26):
It's stupid. Those dudes listening right now, that still do
I guarant ask to work right right now. Hell yeah,
hopefully you're not going to you know, hopefully John our guy,
John's not hitting with country boys. Roof and treeball on
the top of my room, Johnny, Johnny getting on the roof.
Let's call it. Let's call you got your steel toes on. Yeah,
the free balls.

Speaker 7 (20:48):
Out.

Speaker 4 (20:48):
I got my Cougar paus and some zims in the
back pocket. No, mo, that's just terrible. Let's let's talk
a little bit of Texans football. Also, we got to
Shows general manager Dana Brown, who's going to join the
show at nine?

Speaker 5 (21:02):
I think that's a question I'll leave out for day
to to day. When you were growing up, days you
free ball with your jeans on, they were long, John,
I hope. So if you want to you want to
get dehydrated where long johns in like September and like
where you only start to sweat and it keeps all that. No, thanks, yeah,
hard pass. And I never understood how people can sleep

(21:23):
in full clothing. It's crazy. Yeah, pajamas, sweatpants and a hoodie.
What if you're sick and sweating that? I mean, never
understood it. Never understood the oh yeah, I sleep in
socks to another thing, and it feels like I'm when
with socks on, I feel like you're about to uh
what's the word claustrophobic? Yeah? Him my feet breathed though, Okay,

(21:44):
especially for a guy with a big foot. Yeah, yeah,
I don't need socks on. Okay, let him breathe. Dog.
You know you talked about being on a roof and John, Yeah,
John is going to be on your roof and hopefully
for the right reasons. Right country boys, roofing country with

Speaker 5 (23:39):
Is the number to join Roger Goodboye and what's happening
this morning?

Speaker 10 (23:44):
Three fellas.

Speaker 11 (23:45):
Then, I just want to say, you guys are the
best of the business, and nobody a good mark.

Speaker 5 (23:49):
Gosh, dang it, triple can tell them. We've got a
little bad connection on that end. Let's talk Texans, their
team captains, Sean, can you guess who their team captains are?
I'm gonna assume that one of them is C. J.
Stroud That is correct, Laramie Tunsel, that's correct. I don't

(24:13):
know who they their special teams captain would be. They
have special teams captain they do? Who is it? Long
snapper John Weeks? Okay, that sounds as age, longtime veteran,
dude's been with the Texas years, and the defensive captain.
There's three of them, yeah, daneil Hunter. No, didn't put
Will Anderson Already? Will Anderson is one of them. How

(24:33):
about Uh? Did they put Stingley in there too? They did?

Speaker 6 (24:37):
Not?

Speaker 5 (24:37):
Safety? What's his name? Jimmy Warden? Yeah, I was gonna.
I was thinking, are they going to reward? Uh? Jaylen?
You know Petrie this early? But Jimmy ward longtime veteran,
he has been with the Miko Ryans and knows what
his leadership is. And a third one, yes, a third

(24:58):
one on defense? Who is there's actually there's one on
defense and one on offense. Another offensive player? Yes?

Speaker 7 (25:05):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (25:06):
Did they name Digs a captain? They did? As a
KG veteran. It's good. Nice? And then I don't know who.
The other defensive captain is linebacker Aziz al Shair, another
veteran that came Here's the crazy thing about it. Second
year guy, second year guy, veteran who has only been
here his second year, I believe, first year linebacker. The

(25:30):
majority of their captains have not been here more than
two years. Look other than Weeks and Tunsel obviously, but
you start to look at the young Will Anderson, second
year guy, Stroud, second year guy. Two other captains. Ward
arrived what last year, when Demiko came and linebacker arrived
this offseason. Yeah, they're naming. I mean Diggs knew that.

(25:51):
I mean they have brought. This team is guys who
haven't been in the system. It doesn't matter if they
feel like you're a leader. It's not like you get
a lifetime Achievement award. Weeks and Tons have have earned it,
they've been here a while. Other guys' new bodies that
they say, listen, Leadership isn't forced when you you know,
when a guy walks in the engagement and the when
you're magnetized to the guy and good choices. I like it,

(26:14):
and a lot of veterans who've been in the league
a while, and a lot of forty nine or field
of that as well. And Tamiko Ryan's you know, trusting guys,
he's been around.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
Yeah, good for excuse me, Will Anderson junior in C J.
Strout obviously both one was Rookie of the Year on
the offensive side, one was Rookie of the Year on
the defensive side.

Speaker 5 (26:32):
Happened two years in a row. Did the Rookie of
the year's come from the same team two years in
a row? It's crazy because the Jets got it the
year before when Wilson at wide receiver and with the
stress Gardner, Yeah at the corner. See if we can
get Roger back up on the horn. Roger, good morning,
Good morning, sirs.

Speaker 11 (26:50):
Hey, just just want to let you know, man, you know,
you know, when you guys are know you're the best
of the business. When here' sin checked it to those
holiday shows when you guys are not around, that's just
it atrocious man. Good I'm uh you guys are really
appreciate it. Just want you know, thank you absolutely eight.
So Sean, I do believe that the only way to

(27:12):
well the Indianapolis Coast can stop start is to keep
them off the field. So Yeah, you can expect the
very heavy dose of running and uh, we'll see what
that that that defensive uh defensive run stoppability is all about.
If they you know, you know, if at all, you know,
if these guys have upgraded in that department, it's gonna
be very interesting to see.

Speaker 6 (27:31):
Also with the as I.

Speaker 11 (27:32):
Just want to say, Man, you're gonna see them. You'll
see the big drop off when it starts to coup
with the rotation. Now you'll see how good these guys
are growing person to the end of the lineup, which
isn't bad with Ronell and Grander. But it's gonna be
a comp decision. Like I said, the politics and public
to be involved, and I just think it's gonna be uh,
you know, up to up to a spot to see

(27:54):
whether experience versus black.

Speaker 4 (27:57):
Yeah, truly go ahead. And I don't know what we
got going all with these phone I don't know if
it's Roger or us, but the the uh, it just
was coming in and out man, you know, yeah, talking
about I briefly heard him say something about the Astros
and the rotation and dropping Blanco off of that six

(28:18):
man rotation and putting him in the bullpen. He said
it's gonna be politics or who makes that decision.

Speaker 5 (28:24):
It's going to happen. It's gonna happen. I don't think.
I don't think it just and it's not it's no
disrespect to him at all. It's just that guys are
pitching better. He's been such a grinder the entire year
and it's been awesome. It just looks like he's it
looks like he's getting a bit laboring more. Yeah, labor,
But man, do I love his guts. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (28:46):
I mean if you look at that rotation out of
all the guys that are going right now with him
in the bullpen, yeah, all the guys that are going
right now, Kokuchi pitching well, Arraghetti, Hunter Brown from her Valdez,
and then you have Justin Orlander, and then I just
think Renel Blanco would be the odd man out.

Speaker 5 (29:02):
And that's not disrespecting him because he's pitched his ass
off this year. Yeah, I'm not. I have zero issue
with that. And if you start him, I trust that
he can give you a good performance. Yeah, he just
did these laboring a little more and Verlanders labor Yeah,
no question. So there's some work to be done. And
with you know what a handful. I mean, we're around

(29:25):
what are we at? Twenty two games? Twenty one game?
Something in that range. Look at the tail the tape.
Look at the tail the tape. Real quick, man, let's see.
Let me do something. I can do some math. You
can just tell me what's their record?

Speaker 4 (29:34):
Last one's sixty two. There's twenty four games left? There
you go, so, holy cow, man, where'd the year go?

Speaker 5 (29:40):
Man? It's rolling?

Speaker 7 (29:42):
Man?

Speaker 5 (29:42):
What yeah, we're College football is going into its third week.
Even says week two, it's really your third week coming up,
and we at the NFL starting. And by the way,
the NFL is trying to adopt a plan in the
future to play on all day on have Labor Day weekend,
and instead of letting college have their moment, they may
jump in and uh try to ballhog some of that too,

(30:04):
So you'll have NFL in college all week long. Would
you want that?

Speaker 7 (30:07):
No?

Speaker 5 (30:07):
I don't want that college And then the next yes,
so let them both stand alone. Yes, I would agree.
I would agree. And it's I mean, it's like they
try to monopolize every week and let it just let
it go.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
You know what, between the NFL and Iron mL streaming
and oh hey, this game's only on HBO Max. This
game's only on Peacocks Like yeah, Amazon.

Speaker 5 (30:28):
Like figure it out. The NFL can still wait a week.
I'm good with that. I'm good because I believe it
muddies the water and takes away from what I'm trying
to with the first weekend, that's Labor Day, that's college
football weekend, through and through. Matter of fact, I don't
have time to go watch the NFL. I don't know
it's college football weekend. I have the Labor Day weekend.
I'm gonna be honest. I have no interest I do
this week. This will stand alone. Let's go. College football

(30:49):
is in full swing. Let those guys have theirs, and
you get yours on a Thursday, and you get it
on a Friday from Brazil this year, and you get
it on a weekend. You don't have to monopolize everything.
Okay to me, let call it well, I want the
NFL more and more now, you know what. I get
enough of the NFL, I do, Honestly, God, I'll take
college football by its own. You don't need I don't need.
You know now, if you want to throw now, I

(31:12):
don't want to do it because on Sunday there's that
one game. But think about your anticipation for the Sunday
the LSU USC game. You couldn't wait, right, right, I
don't need that money by a bunch of football round
and there's another pretty good game on Monday night, right,
and then you get yours four days later, yeah, Thursday,
and then on Sunday. I don't want to change. I
like it the way, but they're going to try to
add an eighteenth game. Listen college football's playoff. Do you

(31:34):
realize the championship games two weeks before Super Bowl? Do
you realize this year is like the twenty fifth the
championship game in college football? They go through the playoff.
It's late January now, not the like the ninth or
whatever normally. So they pushed it way back, which gives
you then two weeks for the NFL. But imagine the
NFL coming in if they add an eighteenth game and
then two preseason games. Where are you going to fit
where you're going to have the Super Bowl? If you don't,

(31:54):
If you put it at the end of the season,
super Bowl's gonna end up being in like pushing March.
NFL just you just take a little step back. Yeah,
like leave Labor Day weekend alone. Read out yesterday and
I thought, I don't want this. Don't know how true
it is, but I don't want that.

Speaker 4 (32:09):
Well, I mean, like this week, obviously you have the
Thursday night game Baltimore at Kansas City. It's gonna be
on NBC, and then on Friday they're playing from Brazil.
It's Green Bay at Philadelphia and the games on Peacock.
So if you don't have Peacock, good luck trying to
watch it. I don't have Peacock, so I'm a to
stream it a certain way allegedly, Yeah, just to watch
the freaking NFL. Just tired of all these damned stream services.

(32:31):
And then, not to mention direct TV figure it out,
don't have ESPN, ABC.

Speaker 5 (32:35):
I mean, it's just a joke, man.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
Then you want to try to take over the Labor
Day weekend, which is a college football weekend. Nah, I
don't want it. I'm out, man, I'm out. Something I'm
not out on is men's tea clinic. Fellas, you're feeling sluggish,
you got some brain fog, your workouts suck, or god forbid,
you are struggling in the bedroom. Men's Tea Clinic can
help with every single thing that I just mentioned, and personally,

(32:57):
I felt like I was sleepwalking through my days. My
lists of the gym were stagnant. I wasn't getting any better.
So I went over to Men's Tea Clinic. I met
with their total illness optimization team at the Spring location.
I got my levels checked and sat down with their
clinic director, Sean Mullen. The process is simple. They draw
some blood, you get your results back in ten or
fifteen minutes, and then you can figure out what total

(33:18):
wellness optimization plan that you need to be on. They
are phenomenal and this changed my life for the better.
So fellas, stop waiting around, drop your pride and go
get your levels checked at Men's Ta Clinic. Men's Tea
Clinic has been leading the way for safe, to effective,
and always individualized testosterone replacement therapy and total wellness optimization

those long weekends or workout recovery. It's one call away

Speaker 5 (34:02):
Tell him that Brian Lima sent you.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
Let the celebration start wor Sean Salisbury. It's a Sean
Salisbury show.

Speaker 7 (34:15):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 4 (34:18):
Breaking news out of the NFL coming straight from Adam
Schefter Chefty.

Speaker 5 (34:25):
Shifty knows simply know to Schefty in these parts right.

Speaker 4 (34:28):
Schefty is reporting that the Houston Texans are signing quarterback
Davis Mills to a one year extension that'll contractually tie
him to the Houston Texans through twenty twenty five.

Speaker 5 (34:40):
Per sources, c J.

Speaker 4 (34:41):
Stroud and Davis Money Mills are expected to work together
for the next two years.

Speaker 5 (34:49):
Who's getting paid more money Mills or Meek Mill?

Speaker 6 (34:53):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (34:54):
Probably Meek Mill. Wait, isn't Meek Mill?

Speaker 7 (34:56):
Like?

Speaker 5 (34:56):
Uh, he's not dead. No, I know he's not dead.

Speaker 4 (34:59):
But triplely done any any like in some weird stuff
he did he do some stuff with he did he right?

Speaker 5 (35:06):
I think so? Yeah, I don't know. I can't confirm
or to night. But he did invest. He did make
a good investment, though he emitted in Leeds. Oh yeah,
he was not submissive when it came to that. See
what I did, Yeah, see what I did there?

Speaker 10 (35:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (35:22):
I thought you were gonna make it. Congrats to Davis. Davis.
Mill was simply known around these parts as who Mills?
Good for him? Uh yeah, and you guys had him.
Well he's out, he was, did you? I looked at you.
What get rid of Millsey? We need to get back up.
It's got to be boil who's actually picked up by somebody?

Speaker 10 (35:44):
Did he?

Speaker 5 (35:44):
Yeah? Somebody picked him up to put him on their
practice squad last week, timmy boyle, I told you you
put up a good show. You're auditioning for somebody else. Keam.
There you go, there you go. You know I actually
said keep uh uh you said you said you want
to boil over Millsey.

Speaker 4 (36:03):
No boil over case Keenum for then you're going to
keep that spot veteran right, Yeah, even though uh what's
his name? Case Keenum went on the IR. So it's fine.

Speaker 5 (36:15):
So you know what for what the first four weeks
is that?

Speaker 7 (36:18):
What it is?

Speaker 5 (36:18):
It's something like that. So there you go, good for
Davis Mills one year extension, and I told you the guy.
I think the guy's going to be in the league
for decade plus because he's smart and there won't be
a lot of tread on those tires because he ain't
gonna play much here. But good for him at some
point in time. Case Keenham's on the season ending, I
r oh, done foot injury, see you later. Okay, So

(36:39):
it's the they the entire year. So they're going with
did they do they have a third guy? Did they
sign a third guy over the the Labor Day weekend?
Unless I missed it, Yeah, they're going to go with two.
That's okay though a lot of teams do these days,
unless I I mean, unless it's the third guy that
they signed over the weekend that I didn't see. I
didn't see. I was too focused on college football. I
didn't see what the Texas did over the week. Yeah.

(37:00):
Let me let me go ahead, track here, Yeah, football season,
let's go uh.

Speaker 4 (37:06):
Yeah, it's just uh, let's see J Stroud as the starter,
Davis Mills the as the backup.

Speaker 5 (37:10):
A lot of teams go with two, so it's wise
to have a third one around. So they can get
some work in. That's just me though, which means on
the practice field, Davis Mills gets his reps every week
doing scout team the entire time, the entire scout team,
which is good. Need to get those throws in somehow,
some way.

Speaker 4 (37:29):
I also did see that Joe Mixon has been uh,
he's one hundred percent healthy.

Speaker 5 (37:35):
And his legs are going to be fresh too, which
is awesome because he didn't need I don't need him
to get that much work in the preseason. Told you
that I feel I feel good about it. I feel
good about mix, and I feel good about this run game.
I think that's going to be the most physically improved
part of this team outside the interior defensive front.

Speaker 4 (37:53):
So he will have uh, he will have fresh legs
for the season. Also, I did see some things about
Damian Pierce. Apparently he was going through some not so
fun mental issues last year, personal issues last year, and
Nick Sario's saying that he's expecting good things from him

(38:14):
this year.

Speaker 5 (38:15):
Obviously sharing, not sharing the load, but getting some carries
here and there. Need to mix a man. Only way
is gonna get better is by seeing things happen on
the field and learning how to be a patient runner
and keep good eyes. I expect Mixing to get about
twenty five touches a game in that twenty to twenty
five range. Eighteen carries four catches, twenty carries five catches.

(38:38):
I can't wait to see his impact. I'm gonna ride
with the fact that if he's healthy, this will be
a major change in the way defenses have to play
the Texans because the run games a major threat. Two
years ago, they ran the ball well. Last year at
times they mixed it in. But they're deep now and
they get a runner who's a big, physical guy who's
had durability his entire NFL career and mixing and catch

(39:00):
the ball of the backfield, it's going to be the
cults are gonna have their hands full on defending the
width and length of this field. And I can't wait
to see it. It's gonna be a fun game to
watch this weekend. And when you just this is a game,
in my opinion, protect the football your talent. It'll win out. Yeah.
And last year they started what oh and two good
way to get it started with a division win right

(39:20):
off the bat.

Speaker 6 (39:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (39:21):
And then also Joe Mixon, I picked them up on
my fantasy team. So we gotta we gotta have some carries,
you know what I mean?

Speaker 5 (39:29):
Yeah, you got mixing, Yeah, you need some You need
some touches, man.

Speaker 4 (39:31):
Yeah, we got to get that figured out, man. So
I'm looking forward to it. And that's the NFL season
kicking off tomorrow. We're gonna stay with the NFL. Peter Scheger,
you know them, Yeah I do, Senior national writer for
Fox sports dot Com. Also on Good Morning Football, he
put out his predictions for the AFC playoff teams and

(39:53):
the NFC playoff teams. Uh, where does he have the
Houston Texans? Does he even have them in there? Let's
look at it. Into discussing next Sports Talk seven to eighty, heay.

Speaker 4 (42:17):
And then the game in Brazil, which would be Green
Bay and Philadelphia's. On Friday night, Peter Schreger put out
his NFC and AFC playoff teams. Is he a senior
national writer for Fox sports dot com. Good morning football.
Let's uh, let's look at the AFC for Peter Schreger.

(42:40):
He has the Jets as the number one seed, the
Chiefs as the number two seed, the Ravens is the
number three seed, the Jags as the number four seed,
and then in the wild card he's got the Bills,
the Broncos, and the Chargers. This man left the Texans
all off the playoffs, and he has the Broncos and

(43:04):
Chargers ahead of them.

Speaker 5 (43:09):
Bow Knicks is going to be the quarterback for the
Broncos and bo Nicks is going to be the rookie
of the year to watch. Not enough, what's that Caleb
Williams with the Bears. Of course I'm pulling. I'm pulling
for and I have a little hype. I'm pulling for

(43:29):
Caleb Williams because of S. Again, I think he's gonna
make Chicago better. But I think with Sean McVeigh, I
actually think bo Nicks could be an explosive talent there.
I'd start him just like they are and roll with it.
Sean Payton, would I say, Sean mcveig, Sean Payton, You
know that named Sean McVay, Peyton Salisbury, you know, right, yeah,

(43:50):
exactly to say, yeah, yeah, I but I do think
that he got a little mad scientists in him and
allow allow.

Speaker 7 (43:59):
You know.

Speaker 5 (44:00):
And I think the expectations he though, even though he's
the first round pickworthy in Chicago Sports. What do you
think expectations are higher for the first pick of the draft, right? Yeah?
And I would not sleep on Jayden Daniels being the
first pick. I mean rookie of the year either. I
think the kid is a phenomenal talent. But when I
say bon Nicks, I just think he's going to get
a lot of opportunity because of the way they're going
to call plays with Sean Payton, you know, he what

(44:22):
he gets is Taysom Hill and not quite Drew Brees,
but a guy who's pretty accurate with the football. But
neither one of them had what the other guy had.
He got a guy bon Nicks who can throw it,
got a lot of experience, and obviously we've seen him
run the football. So as I digress, but getting back
to Peter Schrager, I'm there's a few teams in a
league that are where I'm like, I don't really trying

(44:42):
to figure him out. Miami's one of them. Yeah, Miami
Dolphin's Like how physical are they going to be? I
have questions like, who are they? I know they can score,
how physical will they be? Then I look at the
Jacksonville Jaguars. Part of me says, last year, a lot
of people haven't win in twelve games. They somehow find
a way to dis point late. Does that make sense?
And then I don't know who the Minnesota Vikings are

(45:04):
right now. I really don't you know, their rookie quarterbacks
out for the year, Sam Darnell. I mean, I don't
know what they're gonna bring to the table for this.
They've got the best receiver in football, and the Chargers
are another one. I really don't know what to expect.
I mean, listen, I think the Bears are gonna win
some games and be competitive, but they're not winning the division.
And the Chargers, though, you know, Herbert's in pretty rarefied

(45:27):
air like him Marine at first, like four years of
their career, whatever it's been for Herbert, do you realize
that he's in like that Marine. He's in the category
of guys like touchdown passes or yards or whatever it is.
There's a statistic that he's like in one of the
like four or five guys of all time in their
first handful of years of playing. He's a really good player.

(45:47):
And so I'm with him and the wild Cards hardball,
what are they gonna do. They're gonna be able to
run it, they're gonna throw it, They're gonna be physical,
like Jim wanted to be a Michigan, right, So I
understand Schrager's infatuation with both Jacksonville and the Chargers, But
I think you'd be hard pressed leaving the and maybe
it's the schedule. Leaving the Texans out of the playoffs
I think is hyperbole.

Speaker 7 (46:07):
I do.

Speaker 5 (46:08):
I think that's overboard hot takesh Yeah, how do you
not have them in there? But why should he think
like you and me? Yeah? Why should he think like
you and me? Maybe he's coming into the thing. Last
year was the aberration at least for a year. They're
gonna be good, but now they're gonna be challenged more.
They're gonna defend them different. But I also look at
while all that's true, I also look at the upgrades
on the roster, and the upgrades on the roster can

(46:31):
offset schedule. Okay, they've got good players, so I get
why Schreker does it. But if we all chose the
same one wouldn't be any fun. So I don't have
a problem with it. I don't even know what his
justification of keeping him off is. Maybe in the article
it says, but I didn't read it.

Speaker 4 (46:45):
His NFC teams, the Lions is the number one seed,
the Rams is the number two seed, the Falcons is
the number three seed, The Eagles is number four forty
nine Ers, five, Seahawks, six Packers seven.

Speaker 5 (46:58):
These are who he thinks are the best or how
gonna finish playoffs? This is out this is his play
These are his playoffs. See. And that's another team that
in the NFC that I that I'm still trying to
figure out. Who are the Atlanta Falcons gonna be one
of the most explosive offenses in the league? Are the
Atlanta Falcons going to be the Atlanta Falcons? And you
know the Saints and Falcons and Carolina Panthers and Tampa

(47:19):
Bay all around nine wins battling for a division. Caroline
is not getting a nine wins, I don't think, even
though they upgraded their offensive line. But Atlanta, that's They're
kind of like the Chargers in the in the NFC,
the numbers quarterback, they've got great perimeter people. Are they
physical enough and can they get stops on defense? I
can't wait to see it. And you know, I guy

(47:39):
Bruce Matthews son, Bruce heading out there for watch his
son play. So I think Cousins is obviously a major
upgrade for them, But I'm not really sure who they are.
Are they a ten win team or are they a
seven win team in that division. You should win ten
games if you're the division winner. Hell, the Saints didn't
play great football last year and one nine now the
Saints were a top ten scoring team in the league
leaft no and did not make the playoffs and a tiebreaker.

(48:03):
So you think about the Saints and nobody even talked
about their offense last year? Right, yeah, no, no at all.
Atlanta's it's Alanta's one of the teams. Part of this
by Peter Schrager almost feels if you miss, nobody cares
because they knew it was, Like you're just it's a
reach on, like Atlanta being the top one of the
top three or four seeds, and then if you hit,
you're a hero. Uh yeah, I picked Atlanta. I mean, well,
when you hear my Super Bowl picks, you're not gonna

(48:24):
like them either. How do you have the forty nine
ers as your five seed? Do you, Sean? Do you
honestly think that the Rams are going to win that division?

Speaker 7 (48:32):
No?

Speaker 5 (48:32):
I think the forty nine ers are and I think
the Rams are going to be second. Yeah, saying I
think the Rams are going to be pushing for a playoff,
and I think the forty nine ers are going to
be pushing for home field advantage to the NFC.

Speaker 4 (48:41):
I think it's the lines and the forty nine ers
in the NFC. And also I like Philadelphia is gonna
be good. Yeah, Philadelphia as long as their coordinators are
better this year. But I also, I mean, regardless of
whether you think the Cowboys can figure it out in
January or not, I still think they're going to be
right there on the hunt for a wild card spot.
I don't think they're gonna win their division. Oh, playmaker
all the way around. Their defenses is pretty damn good.

Speaker 5 (49:02):
The Cowboys aren't going to disappear from the face and
win five games, right, They're going to be in common.
They're going to be They're going to battle Philadelphia in
the division. I just don't under I don't understand some
of these teams, Like in the Seahawks over the Cowboys.
What's that the Seahawks over the Cowboys? Come on, man,
three NFC West teams, forty nine er Seahawks and Rams

(49:22):
all making it. Come on, Pete, I don't, I don't
know PD. I don't I don't see, I don't see
that ain't happening. And I'm dog, I'm with you one
hundred percent. I don't I don't see that. I don't
see that coming to fruition. I do think that we're
in for some change. You like the Giants. Think how
quickly that that's changed. Two years ago, Daniel Jones is

(49:43):
a Pro Bowl type player, gets a new contract. Brian
Dables like a Coach of the year guy. Mike Kafka
is the next in the line to be head coach.
Guess who's calling the place for the Giants just two
years later? Yeah, but Brian Dable, Yeah, he took it
away from cas. How quickly things change with one bad
season and New York one bad season equals four bad
seasons because the media coverage. It's true. Man, I uh

(50:04):
and I can't wait to see it. I don't think.
You know what the Texans can't afford to do is
have if they're gonna get beat, get beat by good teams.
You can't have a Carolina. If you're gonna win the division,
you can't let the Carolina is the world beat him.
You know that's that was last year. Everybody's bye week
and Carolina will be a little bit better. See you
jump around league, somebody is going to shock you this
year in a good way, yeah, and in a bad way.

(50:26):
Somebody somebody you think, oh, that's a playoff team's gonna
go and you're gonna say they miss the playoffs, they
were awful this year. And then you're gonna find somebody
like Seattle or Atlanta win in a division and win
in a playoff game. It's usually the way it works.
I don't have either NFC shocking, but I don't have
either any of those NFC West teams in the super
Bowl this year. I mean, this guy's got three in

(50:46):
the in the playoffs. There's forty nine or picks. Forty
nine or picks to make the playoffs, yes, but to
be a five or sixty five seed Megan the wildcard,
I don't see that. I think they're I think they're
going to be better. And I wonder what rock Perty's
in to get paid when it when it comes to fruition.
After all, the dude does nothing but win so and
put up numbers. Yeah, sure does. Yeah, Trump Williams just

(51:08):
got paid. By the way, So the forty nine ers
got their left tackle three years for eighty plus right,
uh huh, forty eight guaranteed. If I'm not san Francisco
last week and said, for Shawn, is there a distraction
when he tackled? I said, people don't get into people's wallet.
If it was during the season and he left after
three games and held out, different story, then they'd feel
like they let him down. But not showing the training
camp keeping fresh legs. I trust Trent Williams is going

(51:28):
to be just fine. And you knew eventually he was
going to get paid. I don't that's never to me.
Contract negotiations during training camp are never distracted. The rest
players are too worried about their own damn self to
worry about what Trent Williams is doing with his money.
Once the season starts and you're preparing for game to game,
the game, then if if he was holding out this week,
now becomes a problem. But he's in and I'm not

(51:49):
worried about him being in shape, and I'm sure it's
he'll not worried about him dominating a line of scrimmage.
And he got paid. And that's what about twenty seven
a year for somebody in that range for a the
best left tackle in football. Yeah, it's about right. Yeah,
it's fair and he deserved it. Yeah, no question. Hey,
you mind if I do something sentimental real quick. Oh,
go ahead.

Speaker 4 (52:09):
My best friend and his wife, Josh and Ashton, they
had their baby girl over the weekend. Came a couple
of weeks early, or yeah, a couple of weeks early.

Speaker 5 (52:17):
Nice.

Speaker 4 (52:18):
She's in the nick you her name is Rustin, battling
some breathing issues just because she came a couple of
weeks early.

Speaker 5 (52:26):
They're headed back to the hospital today. Just wanted to
tell Josh and Ashton that I love you guys, and
that everything's going to be okay with Rusting, and just
wanted to say that I'm thinking about you guys. Yes,
that's very nice, very kind of prayers for them, yeah,
and thoughts of peace and understanding get through it is good.
Are they planning it's going to be okay? Yeh. Precautionary
precautionary things.

Speaker 4 (52:46):
I think there's some tests that baby has to go
through when they are just a little bit premature with
breathing on their own and things like that and a
car ride. And you know, it's better that it's happening
now in a hospital rather than when they get home.

Speaker 5 (52:59):
Oh yeah, the baby's gonna be fine. Yeah, good, goodby Rusting.
So Josh to ask for that permission are far more
important than talking now x's and O. I feel bad
for Josh. He's a girl dad now.

Speaker 4 (53:09):
So he's got a six year old son, Briar, which
is my godsend, and now he's got a baby girl.

Speaker 5 (53:13):
So good luck Josh. Those girl dad change you. You're
a girl dad, you get it. I absolutely am. And
she's my youngest and the best the boys. I said, well,
why do you why do you treat her different? You're
because she's your sister's That's what the opposite is.

Speaker 4 (53:31):
When I was growing up, my sisters would talk to
my dad and be like, why do you treat Brian different?
Because I was the baby?

Speaker 5 (53:36):
Come on, dog, Yeah, she's the baby, and she's she's
a girl, and quite frankly, she's tougher than both of you.

Speaker 10 (53:42):
So there you go.

Speaker 5 (53:42):
Yeah exactly. Yeah, so one great, three great ones at
d and Russell will have a good long life. So
hopefully everything's okay, Yeah, no doubt about it.

Speaker 4 (53:50):
I think their cruis into the to the hospital right
now over in the wood. And so I just wanted
to tell you, to tell you guys what I'm thinking
about you. H let's let's get to the steak out

Speaker 4 (55:54):

pitch four thirty on Deck Show. Right here on seven
nine year home Crashrows baseball ash Rows general manager Dane Brown,
gonna come up, gonna join us at nine point thirty
Texans naming their team captains.

Speaker 5 (56:12):
All right, Sean for the steakout.

Speaker 4 (56:15):
Over the weekend, Kirk curb Street in the broadcast booth
for college football. Him and Rehys Davis uh were calling
the usc LSU game at Allegiance Stadium over in Las Vegas.
It's no surprise that he takes his golden retriever Ben

(56:37):
everywhere he goes.

Speaker 5 (56:39):
And Ben was in the booth. Yeah. Ben's battling illness too.

Speaker 4 (56:43):
He had some surgery doing okay his In the pregame,
Kirk curbs Street and Reese Davis were obviously breaking down
what they expect in the game and Ben, Ben, his
dog made an appearance.

Speaker 3 (56:58):
And you just watching it.

Speaker 5 (57:00):
I've stood right there between him.

Speaker 4 (57:01):
Wa on in between them. Yeah, they made a comment
on it. Rees Davis gave him a couple of pets
and that's really it. Well, of course, you know how
social media a bunch of haters.

Speaker 5 (57:12):
Yeah, they hate that the dogs with him.

Speaker 4 (57:14):
They made some pretty nasty comments to kirkurb Street and
he fired back and here's one of them. A guy
said dog should be playing with other dogs, not trapped
on a private jet and locked in a broadcast studio.

Speaker 5 (57:30):
That's not good. Kirk.

Speaker 4 (57:31):
Also, Bama should have been in your top twelve. Kirk
Kurbstreet said, you're a moron.

Speaker 3 (57:35):
Beat it.

Speaker 5 (57:37):
Then I agree with Kirk kurb Street.

Speaker 4 (57:39):
Another guy said, it's actually these are two burner accounts.
Of course, is your dog a service dog? If not,
please leave it at home. And then he said Kirkurbstreet,
b io y a ass, Joe. See you not sure
what that acronym is. We'll look that up. But he's
tired of the critics. And I'm one hundred percent of

(58:00):
board kirkurb Street, I don't give a damn bring your
dog everywhere you want.

Speaker 5 (58:03):
First off, there's a lot of dumb son of a
bitches out there there. There really is. There's some really
dumb that we wouldn't even give you a one ounce,
nor should we anybody. Kerkurb Street included one ounce of
put it this way. Without burner accounts and without social media,

(58:27):
most people were just go on. They try to significant
themselves inside of some a conversation that really is quite frankly, Now,
you can make all the opinion you want, but to
make it personal just makes no sense to me. If
you don't like the dog on there, great say you
don't like the dog. I don't believe the dog got
in a way at kirkurb Street's brilliant preparation and Rhys
Davis if it was barking on the set and it

(58:50):
was a distraction, I get it. And here's the way
I feel. I could tell you with my dogs, a
dog that's older. Do you don't know that if kirkurb
Street's flying in a way and there's a private plane
for everywhere he goes, I wouldn't say locked up on
a private jet. I said, that's pretty I'd love to
be able to take my dog's on a private jet
wherever I went. That's a great it's a great gig,

(59:12):
and I quite frankly think he's earned it. And in truth,
you want to find out at home on a broadcast
that your dog didn't make it? Yeah, No, be awful?
You want to with right? Yeah? Awful. And let me
tell you something. I don't care what anybody says. I
you tell me dog or person. When it comes to personality,
hard decision, and when it comes to the impact of
how you feel, I would say that the losing a

(59:33):
dog for many and I'll include myself in it, would
be damn near every bit is devastating. Yeah, I'm serious people,
that's ridiculous. Well maybe ridiculous for you, and that's okay,
not ridiculous for me.

Speaker 4 (59:45):
I can tell you I lost my dogs Slider, five
weeks after I lost my mother and my father, and
I swear that it might have hurt worse.

Speaker 5 (59:54):
It just it's it's crazy. It was awful. It is,
and so I have no problem with it. It's not
a distraction to the game. It actually adds humanity to it.
The dog's there, he's taken care of it and given
ben love when at times that you know, and I'm
sure it's cathartic for Kirk himself to have his dog
with him fly on the pop there and a dog

(01:00:15):
didn't bother anybody, laid down, was just just there being
a buddy. I actually like it. I have zero with it.
Social media can be really good. Social media can also
be just. We've allowed people who should just shut up.
Not that everybody doesn't deserve a voice, but you don't
deserve a voice if everything that somebody does you just hate.
Oh and by the way, he left Alabama at the time,

(01:00:37):
just stop it. It's his opinion. Alabama's had plenty of
pub and so if he doesn't kiss. How can he
kiss everybody's ass? How is he supposed to pick forty teams?
And by the way, Florida state, Well you didn't like
him last year, I don'twn two start really, uh, focus
on this year. That'll help you. But yeah, my point

(01:00:58):
is is I have no problem with opinion and disagreeing
with it. If you don't like the dog, I have
no problem with that at all. I like the dog there.
It doesn't bother me. It's not a distraction. Matter of fact,
it warms my heart that Ben just sits there and
wants to be around his dad. I don't have problem
with it all. And I'll tell you this. If you said, Sean,
you got to give up your dog for six months,

(01:01:19):
or you got to give up football for six months,
and there'll be no season. Keep the football season could
care less, especially when it comes back, because when all
is said and done, most of the people that watch
and listen and do all that ain't gonna be a't
your funeral, okay, And they're not going to care what
happens in your life. And if part of kirk Kerbstreet
circles haven't been with him the whole time, amen, If

(01:01:40):
it's a distraction of If it's a distraction to you
as a viewer, may I suggest turn on the radio
and just listen to us or listen to somebody else.
To me, I don't have a problem with it, and
I like the kirkirbstrooms fine. He's such a class guy
that he's starting to fight back on some of these things.
Social media is out of hand a good way at
times and completely out of hand in a bad way

(01:02:03):
that everybody thinks that their opinion matters to Kirk Kurbstreet
about his dog. But to say some of the things
you say, as long as you don't make it personal,
Kirkurbstreet's not going to respond. Who cares. I don't care
if you don't like me as a person. It doesn't
really bother me during to day. I don't care if
you don't like my broadcasting. But if you want to
make it personal, then then then I'm in for a
really good fight. Matter of fact, I kind of encourage

(01:02:24):
it once in a while. It's necessary. Cathartic b I
O y A stands for blow it out your ass.
I want to, I want to I want to him
to Kirk or Kirk to the Kirk to some guy
named ordinary Joe, and I would I would uh blow
it out your ass, Joe. The truth of the matter
is nothing bugs a troll more than no engagement with

(01:02:47):
a troll, so I wouldn't even give him the satisfaction.

Speaker 6 (01:02:50):
No.

Speaker 5 (01:02:50):
I Sometimes it's fun to get into good battle, especially
when it's just for fun, a good natured banter. But
when it comes personal time to move on. I'll tell you,
if it wasn't for this job, would you social media?
Probably if you weren't in the broadcast, probably not. I
mean a little Facebook to find some friends, But uh,
no offense. Everybody's opinion doesn't concern me, especially when it's

(01:03:10):
about it's none of my business which you think of me?
And nor do I give a fuzzy rats ass. Well,
I thought you're gonna be tay, Oh you thought it
was gonna But for Kirk kirk Street, I'm on herb
street side. The dog didn't bother anybody, Not sure. Rather
be around the dog, then I would be not around
him if something were to happen. You know what they
say about dogs, What do they say? It's a man's
best friend? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I see one thing I

(01:03:31):
do know. You can do whatever you want. You come home.
That dog doesn't give a rats ask about what the
guy said. He just wants to be around his pops
and his family. So I don't. I respect everybody's opinion,
but when you make it personal over sports and a broadcast,
just stop stupid. There's got to be something more important
than worried about his dog. It's pretty stupid.

Speaker 4 (01:03:48):
Seven seven ninety Darryl Tom will get you guys next,
continue to talk about these Houston Texans.

Speaker 5 (01:03:54):
NFL Week one is here Men's Tea Clinic Men's Tea
Clinic dot com. If you're tired, it's worn out, slowish
brain fog, and you're gonna stay that way. I mean
I can beg, borrow, cheat and steal to get you

to Men's T Clinic to better your life. It's pretty
simple concept, right. If you're feeling and it's low testosterone,
it's nothing to be ashamed of. You can be thirty.

(01:04:17):
It hits different people at different times. Testosterone levels vary,
so why wouldn't you go in and get a checked,
draw a little blood. It's not invasive. By the end
of the day, you get your results and then you
can normalize it. Isn't that part of the deal. You
got to find the conflict, whatever it is, whether it's sports,
who's the guy covering me? Oh, that's the conflict of
the defense. I got answers. Men's t Clinic knows your
conflict is conflict is low testosterone. So they got answers.

been doing this and changing lives. You can change yours too.
Why wait Men's TA Clinic dot com, Men'staclinic dot com
or nine to seven to two go Min's Tea.

Speaker 4 (01:05:23):
The Sean Soundsbury Show continued start with Darryl. Darryl, thanks
for holding good morning.

Speaker 10 (01:05:31):
Yeah, thank you very much.

Speaker 5 (01:05:33):
Good morning Triple D.

Speaker 10 (01:05:34):
Here guys, I hope all as well.

Speaker 5 (01:05:36):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (01:05:37):
I first called in to talk about my ninemers.

Speaker 13 (01:05:39):
But yeah, that's ridiculous to get on Kirk kirp was
trade about having his dog there. I mean the dog
was just fine. These people are ridiculous. That's to get
on end for that is ridiculous. I'm glad Kirk Kirkstree
five do.

Speaker 4 (01:05:54):
Yeah, it's pretty stupid, man. They wouldn't even know if
the dog was there, if he didn't come on camera.
It's just I mean, just we're fine.

Speaker 5 (01:06:00):
Well does it? Does it bother the network? Are they
bothering Reese as it bothered kirkhurb Street. Then what's it
bother you for? While we're sitting on our fat ass
watching the game on TV? Who cares fat and fat
with the dog? pH? Yeah? Fat? What else is on
your mind? There are people always looking for something to
come Darely, It's it's it's maddening to me that. Can

(01:06:21):
you imagine waking up in the morning and being so
friggin miserable that you can't wait to get on social
media and beerate somebody and just find something to be
pissed off about. How do you How does it not you, darrel?
But how does anybody it is? It's sometimes normally I
don't pay attention. I pay attention to very little outside
I mean our group on here and on social media,

(01:06:42):
but not not looking for what did that guy say
in Pittsburgh? Because I can't stand him. Can you imagine
waking up like that? Can you imagine waking up and
if that's your opinion every day, then you need to
Somebody needs to go see a counselor and fix themselves
because I can't fathom living life waking up every day
hating somebody else and looking for reasons to pick a fight.

(01:07:04):
I just don't understand. I never get it. But sometimes
people's significance has to come in some way. There's gotta
be bigger fish to fry than worrying about a dog
that doesn't bother anybody that's in the latter stages of
its life. Hell, I'm gonna spend every when my dogs
get to that end, I'm gonna spend every friggin second
with them and take them everywhere. Listen as you guys know,

(01:07:24):
and Daryl, I'll let you finish. I don't travel anywhere now.
I don't go on to play if my dogs aren't going.
Guess what I'm not going. Yeah, California, they're all three coming.
I'll drive. I'll drive twenty four hours straight before I'll
get on a plane and leave my dogs with some
strange babysitter that I don't know, making sure they're okay,
that they still have their comfort level. Is it overboard? Yeah? Probably?

(01:07:46):
But you know what, I don't care. Yeah, and I'm
good with it.

Speaker 10 (01:07:51):
Yep, your dogs, you gotta take care of them.

Speaker 5 (01:07:53):
Yep. To me, they're humans anyway, Yeah, they just don't.
So what else is on your mind? Daryl?

Speaker 13 (01:08:00):
Well, you brought up my Niners and who was that
that said my nineers for fifth in the NFC? Come on,
I mean, I'm not even biased.

Speaker 10 (01:08:08):
I'm a realist Niner fan.

Speaker 13 (01:08:10):
I'm not like a Dallas Calgirl fan who thinks he
can be six and nine and still make the playoffs.
You know, I mean, my Niners got the same team back,
They've just signed Ayu that the greatest.

Speaker 7 (01:08:22):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (01:08:22):
Well, I don't know about greatest of all time, but
the best on the league.

Speaker 7 (01:08:25):
Now.

Speaker 13 (01:08:26):
Trent Williams, left tackle is signed. Green Law will be back.
I don't think he's going to be back the first week.
It'll probably be fourth or fifth week he'll be back.
That'll show up our defense. Brock Purty, everybody of the
naysayers about brock Purty.

Speaker 10 (01:08:40):
I don't know what people are thinking.

Speaker 13 (01:08:43):
Last year, he led the league in quarterback passer rating
one thirteen yards per past attempt, yards per completed pass,
and passing touchdown percentage last year.

Speaker 10 (01:08:51):
That's over Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 7 (01:08:53):
You know.

Speaker 10 (01:08:54):
I mean, we've got the offense, We've got the defense.

Speaker 13 (01:08:56):
Barring injury, barring injury. Now, nobody's gonna stop the Honors
from getting to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 10 (01:09:02):
Just can't happen. There's no way not with see I mean,
and then Kittle.

Speaker 5 (01:09:06):
Kittle had the.

Speaker 13 (01:09:07):
Most passing most yards last year over any tight end,
and that's what CMC having the most points out of
anybody in the league last year.

Speaker 10 (01:09:15):
I just don't see how anybody's gonna be able to
stop the Honors.

Speaker 5 (01:09:18):
The Niners Earl and then the Niners would have to
have a out of body negative experience not to make
the playoffs. I mean, and have a bunch of injuries.
They're that good now, I once you get to the playoffs,
held a stupid turnover, an injury to Brock party like
they happened against Philadelphia and they're down to their third
or fourth quarterback and you can't win if something like
that happens. I get it, But I just a hyperbolic

(01:09:40):
not to have them in the playoffs so that they're loaded.
And I will say this to you the reason why
Brock Purty and it's a it's a lazy narrative and
broadcasters do it, fans do it. He's and I got
some extra insight on Brock Purtty because theuy who's trained
him since like the seventh or eighth grades are very different.
We talk about it all the time, and when you
get insight from somebody who's around him all all the time.

(01:10:00):
First of all, he's a hell of a human being. One,
which that's where I start. Two is he came and
it feels like we should we should be gripping and
grasping and embracing Rock Purty's story. I don't get the narrative.
On first off, if this was Josh Allen his first

(01:10:21):
two years in the league was doing what joh Brock
Purty's first two years in the league are better than Mahomes.
And when it comes to overall, so because guess what,
Mahomes didn't plays a rookie. No, he did not one game.
So I'm not saying he's better. Mahomes physically gift, that's
part of it. He doesn't look the part. He's not
six three, two twenty. He's not a first round draft pick. Oh,
people can't accept the fact that scouts and people who

(01:10:44):
scout because he was a little physically limited, isn't tall,
doesn't run as fast as somebody else, doesn't throw it
as far. Oh, we can't. We can't rally around the
last pick of the draft. He absolutely can't make it.
Rock Purty's about to make fifty five million bucks a year. Soon,
he's gonna make fifty million bucks. He you file, Okay,
you tell me what's not like well, because he can't

(01:11:05):
throw it as far as as far as Matt Stafford can. Okay,
name me a player, okay, Lamar Josh Allen, Mahomes, ta
h if all If Caleb Williams If I don't care
who if if Denver's Bo Nicks has the same two

(01:11:26):
years as Rock Purty does, what will we be doing?
People will be crawling ten miles over broken glass just
to just to hang out in his shadow. Ooh, look
what bo Nix? And why that air first round pick?
We're not We just think it's an aberrat. Oh, seventh round,
We're waiting for the wheels to fall off. Rock Purty.
What tells you you can't play throws on time accurate? Wins? Well,

(01:11:46):
he's on the forty nine ers. That's my favorite. That's
my favorite crap that I hear. Well, he's on a
good team. Oh so this year we should mark Stroud
down because why he's got good players. Yeah, so c J.
Stroude has a great year. We're we're gonna rightfully so, yeah,
and he's gonna have a why what we're supposed to say? Oh,
look what he's done is first two years and rightfully,

(01:12:09):
so we're not gonna punish c J. Stroud. We're getting
Stefan Diggs and Danil Hunter and adding Joe Mixon. We're
gonna enhance it. Great players. Joe Montana was great. He
had Jerry Rice, he had Tom Rathman, he had Roger Craig.
Are we supposed to punish guys?

Speaker 7 (01:12:25):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (01:12:26):
So now if Lamar Jackson has Derrick Henry and plays better,
are we gonna dog Lamar and saying can't give him
any credit? Dude, he got Derrick Henry. No, we're gonna
swing off his nuts is what we're gonna do. So
why And we're gonna do the same for bon Nicks?

Speaker 7 (01:12:38):
Yea?

Speaker 5 (01:12:39):
Why? But why is this as the last pick? Because
the narrative is, and I got news for you guys again,
don't give all these scouts in front office people expertise
that they all know everything. There are plenty of them
that are stealing money that don't know how to evaluate town.
They may know x's and o's, but all of them
don't know how to scout town. And quite frankly, the

(01:13:00):
forty nine ers screwed it up until the last pick
of the draft because if you knew then what you
know now. Brock Purty had been a first round draft pick,
so what's not to like? He doesn't bother anybody, he competes.
He's on a good team. Great, so is Jalen Hurts
on a good team. But Jay Hurts took his team
to the Super Bowl, would we say, oh, because the
quarterback has screened? They led the league in loaded loaded

(01:13:21):
on both sides? Did you did they punish him for that?
But it isn't. Well he look at the players he's got. Oh,
so we're now punishing it. So you can only be
good if you're with crappy players. I got news for you.
No quarterbacks going to the Super Bowl with crappy players
around him, I promise you. I promise you. So with
the narrative on Brock party selective criticism and like because

(01:13:42):
he doesn't fit the physical bill, but he doesn't fit
it is you would think that because he was the
last pick. It's like almost like a quote unquote rags
to riches stories. Why would you not rally around the
mystery Relevan fifteen commercials? We love the underdog story. What's
the when does brock Purty ever bothered? Anybody? Didn't? We
love Tiger Woods made his way back from all the games? Well,

(01:14:03):
why Tiger Woods was the greatest golfer in the world.
If Scheffler fell on his face and then came back
in one Player of the Year two years from now,
we couldn't get enough of it. Yeah, why aren't we
happy that? Oh he's on the forty nine ers. That's
a good tea and that's the problem. Yeah, and his numbers.
He's accurate, he throws. I mean, what's not all? Because listen,

(01:14:24):
give me Brock Party over a powerful arm that can't
hit the car wash from where he's standing. I'll take
it every day. He's not the best player in the league,
but to put him at fifteenth best quarterback, well, it's
only because the system really well, Trey Lance, how was
he in that system?

Speaker 10 (01:14:38):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (01:14:38):
Terrible, good Trey Trey. Trey Lance can't fix any system
right now. So again, I just don't I don't understand
the narrative. I know we're running behind. It's just it's
so bothersome to me because I'm telling you, if Josh
Allen wins the Super Bowl Game, why looks the part
who had two first seasons better? Josh Allen and Brock
Purty Brock Party. We'll just leave it at then. Yeah,
mystery relevant who's first two season? If we're better Lamar

(01:15:01):
Jackson or or Rock Purty. I think it was a
Rock Party. I'm not saying Lamar is not a great player.
My point is we will. We are gonna plays like
brock Purty did as a rookie. Yea, We're gonna We're
gonna empty the bucket on praise. That's why he got drafted. Yeah,
good for Sean Page. How about blaming those who were
dumb enough to let brock Purty go until the last
pick of the draft and seeing through the physical Listen,

(01:15:24):
playing quarterbacks far more than just being able to throw it.
There's a lot of things that go into it. And
I don't know what's not to like about brock Purty. Yeah,
you know, he's a basic white guy that drives a
two out of camera or whatever. So it's just it's
it's fascinating. Lives in a one bedroom apartment. We don't
like that. We wanted to live in a high rise
where he's jumping off, where he's parachuting down to his limo.
Really yeah, maybe just start painting his nails. I can't

(01:15:45):
carrying around a pink purse. Those first two years of
rock Purty have been epic. So if he goes and
wins the Super Bowl this year, what are we supposed
to say? Yeah, it wasn't him. Now, his debo yeah,
had to be. It's always somebody else. George Kittle, our
selection Williams. That's ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (01:15:59):
Yeah, Kyle Shanahan not brock party. Let's keep on talking football.

Speaker 3 (01:16:03):
Next, the Jean Salisbury Show continues.

Speaker 5 (01:16:09):
Okay, and then uh, Craig Carton do that you know
from the fan in New York and doing the show?
They say c J. Stroud Carton and Parkins got c J.
Stroud overrated as well as both and uh, Danny Parkins
had brock Purtty overrated as well. Yeah, yeah, sure that
felt suit. He's wearing his little overrated whoa dude?

Speaker 4 (01:16:31):
He looks he can't be more than five six, one
hundred and twenty pounds, soaking wet and what a dork?

Speaker 5 (01:16:37):
Dude? Look at that? What are you kidding me? Well,
because he's because he's not big and physical? What do you?
What are you? The brock Purty haters for the Danny
Parkins Is he supposed to look like something? Yes, look
at Mark Slayer than the other guy. Well, well, the
other guy's standing up. He raised his seat, is what
he did. He raises He's got that name, Craig Carton, Craig. Yeah,

(01:17:00):
and well Schle's played pro football as an offensive lineman.

Speaker 8 (01:17:02):
I know he did.

Speaker 5 (01:17:03):
So wait okay, So Danny, so you have to look
like you played his.

Speaker 4 (01:17:08):
Pro sport and six foot one? Yeah, what about what
did you think he was? Well, you said he raises chairs.
Well I know that, but you're making it sound like
he's five eight.

Speaker 5 (01:17:17):
No, I did not. I did the words that never
came out of mine. I know you insinuated, but I
I know he's a little hyperbolic by you. So wait
a minute. There's a certain look you have to have
to be able to know what you're talking about. Yeah,
Danny Parkins doesn't look the part. So you're the equivalent
in the broadcast thing if somebody is for brock Purty
in the football things. I've seen plenty of six three

(01:17:38):
and thirty pound broadcasters that they couldn't string a sentence
together if you put it, if you if you spotted him,
the e and the e and the and the word.
I yeah, but they look like that dork. And that
that dork right now is going to pick up about
seven figures this week. And if you're going to pick
u about seven figures a year on that paycheck, Besides
the hatne you think you wear. That's a large dome man.

(01:18:00):
Very talented guy, though, can you just tell me be
a hater and I'm going to be the other? Why
would I I'm not going to agree just to agree.
You're telling me he needs to look he needs to
be six four two thirty to pull off good TV?
Is that what you're saying?

Speaker 7 (01:18:13):
It?

Speaker 5 (01:18:13):
Pretty much? Okay, gotcha? Okay, you should be working on
Wall Street or like at your local Macy. Is probably
smart enough to but decided he wanted to go, wanted
to do what the rest of us do. He said,
now a liver was overrated. Now you rip him for that.
That's where I am. That's what I'm doing, making a person. Yes,
that's exactly right. Yeah, you're doing because like a dork

(01:18:38):
with a big head, that's what you're saying. That's a fact. Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:18:42):
Yeah, But but he's also probably very knowledgeable and he
probably knows what he's talking about. However, extremely saying c. J.
Stroud is overrated as spid it.

Speaker 8 (01:18:49):
Is to me.

Speaker 5 (01:18:51):
Is an overrated comment. Yes, exactly, agreed. I'm just haven't
been a little kind of a little bitch today by you, baby,
kind of a little bit a little bit. Did that
sound like a little bit kind of whiny bitchy? Moved
back because your guy's got to be five Danny Parkins.
Danny Parkins, Yeah, he's Uh, he's pretty good man, talented guy,

(01:19:17):
very talented guy. Remember Craig Carton was the guy you
probably don't you remember the w F an the guy
went through the gambling issues and was in prison. Yeah,
and came back out. Yeah, that's that's what Uh, that's
what happened with him. But he's another guy who's opinionated
in the fan and very talented guy. And to do
that and come back and make this comeback and on television. Uh,

(01:19:37):
he's a fiery competitor. Danny's good. Good three good guys
on there, Danny Parkins five. Right, and you have Carton
at six foot or six one that saw massively you know,
yeah that he's just a strapping young lad.

Speaker 4 (01:19:52):
Get off pack Parkins and his nuts. Dude, he's probably
really good at his job. He is, I mean, obviously
he's not. We'll get him on as a guest, say hey,
how to go, and I'll say I want you to
addition to my co host things. You're one hundred and
twenty found big headed dork. Okay, what's happened to you?

Speaker 5 (01:20:05):
Man? What has happened to you?

Speaker 10 (01:20:08):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (01:20:08):
And by the way, you've got a great personality?

Speaker 7 (01:20:10):
Is that?

Speaker 5 (01:20:11):
So that's like you talk about Zoid's right, if she's
not hot, you just say, oh, great personality. Though, yeah
I don't yeah, no, no, that was okay, there you go,
okay a uh oh, but you're just you're just destroying him.
It's a lot of white people make it personal and

(01:20:31):
you're killing is. You're killing is intelligence because to you,
he looks like a big headed dork who's one hundred
and twenty pound guy dripping wet, Right, that's what you said.
He's actually a really good guy and he looks at
his dome though. Yeah, I mean it's a force slice
toaster and what's a big deal. That's Bevo Lottie got
more head than he got body. I mean, my goodness. Yeah, yeah,
there you go. But good for him. He's I enjoyed

(01:20:53):
this show so far. I know because you can hear
it so well.

Speaker 6 (01:20:56):
I know.

Speaker 5 (01:21:02):
Because we got it on Ray. Yeah, Tom, Ray will
get to you.

Speaker 2 (01:21:05):
Tom.

Speaker 5 (01:21:05):
You appreciate you, old man, Brian Hayes. He says, just
spelled Tom instead of th h om man.

Speaker 4 (01:21:14):
I just want to be a hater for a couple
of minutes. That's all so good, and I'm good. Now
we can start the show. Let's get into the eighthclock.

Former Rice baseball head coach Wayne Graham, who led the
Owls to the College World Series championship in two thousand
and three passed away last night.

Speaker 5 (01:23:29):
At the age of eighty eight.

Speaker 4 (01:23:30):
This is coming from former University of Texas coach David Pierce,
who is now the assistant to the head coach at
Texas State. He said, quote Coach Graham was the greatest
end quote. There's some local news. Coach Wayne Graham one
of the best to ever do it. Passing away at
the age of eighty eight. Seven one, three, two, two

(01:23:51):
five seven ninety is the number to join and start with, Tom, Tom,
appreciate you holding buddy.

Speaker 10 (01:23:54):
Good morning, Good morning guys. On a show today.

Speaker 9 (01:23:58):
This is one for the archives. I'm glad it's The
Life Boy Wednesday. I mean, really great show, guys. Let
me start with two things. You never go after. You
never go after dogs and never.

Speaker 10 (01:24:08):
Go after donuts.

Speaker 3 (01:24:10):
Leave malone.

Speaker 10 (01:24:11):
Okay.

Speaker 9 (01:24:12):
Anybody that goes after those two things, get them out
of the way because they're crawding the room.

Speaker 7 (01:24:17):
All right.

Speaker 9 (01:24:19):
Let's start with how I feel about the anticipation of
an NFL season. I always get excited, but I don't
think I've been as excited for any season.

Speaker 10 (01:24:28):
To start as this one with the Houston Tetions.

Speaker 9 (01:24:32):
I think the Mico's got him like Thoroughbred's going into
the starting game. It's in cut Kentucky Derby. They're climbed
and ready to go. They took care of Millsey's. They're
dotting all the eyes, crossing all the tees. I say,
let's get it on. And it's fitting that there's something
with Indianapolis.

Speaker 7 (01:24:51):
I can remember enough too long ago.

Speaker 9 (01:24:53):
Indianapolis came into Reliant and NRG Stadium and kicked off
butts with Peyton manning all over the field.

Speaker 10 (01:25:00):
It's paidback time. We finished them off last year.

Speaker 5 (01:25:04):
I know they didn't.

Speaker 9 (01:25:05):
Execute, I got it, but I like to think the
Texans had something to do with that. So I'm excited
about this year. If they stay healthy, I think they're
going to be a ten plus team. I think they
can win after division. It's time to start it. I'm
looking forward to it. Wow, let's go to Renel Blanco
number twenty two for the Astros. They had a guy

(01:25:27):
named her Katies. He was relegated to the bull pay
and what did he do. He just came out and
he dominated. I think Renelle can do the same. He's
got to know if it's stuff.

Speaker 7 (01:25:37):
He's a big man, and.

Speaker 10 (01:25:38):
I think it'd be perfect.

Speaker 5 (01:25:40):
You know, we're ready to go on.

Speaker 10 (01:25:42):
Both sides with both of these franchises.

Speaker 9 (01:25:45):
But we still got to wait, right, We got a
wait for this season end, and the Texans we got
a wait to see what they got.

Speaker 10 (01:25:51):
But man, it's going to be great. I think the
town is going to blow up. Now, let me leave
you with two things.

Speaker 9 (01:25:58):
Number one, stretched jeans up for chicks. Please leave it alone, man,
you know, and Bryant six thirty. I think I'm gonna
head over to the man's clinic as soon as I
get off the phone with you, guys.

Speaker 10 (01:26:12):
Thanks for letting me in. I'm a great day, guys.

Speaker 5 (01:26:15):
Thank you, Tom. Tom great points other than I said
the same thing he did, because I've always just a
regular Hey, you're not putting I'm not stretch jeans where
it's regular. But when you get those gene that material
that stretches a little on jeans that looks exactly like
you're a pair of Lucky brand jeans, but they stretch
a little, you have a pair of stretch jeans as well.
They're comfortable travel. Yeah, I can't tell no, you cannot

(01:26:36):
tell the diffic So Tom, everything you said is right.
But once you. I was told this, and I said,
you did that. That's so weak. Jeans are jeans dog?
I used to say it, and finally I said, Okay,
stop the tough guy, I said to myself. And I
went and tried them on, and they looked for They
look just like normal genes, but they're more comfortable and breatheable.
Isn't everything the wicker fit with all this dry fits.

(01:26:58):
Everything we do is that? So Tom, give it a try,
and you may never go back. I just you know,
I still like regular jeens first though. Yeah, but the
stretched jeans at least uh far far more lightweight too. Yeah,
and they help you out if you have a bigger
lower half what do you mean, legs and stuff legs
and no doubt about it. My stretch and the weight,

(01:27:18):
I mean, yeah, they're not you know, they're a little
bol of average for me because I've always had a
product past with like legs and ass. And then you
the waist is too big if you get to fit,
and then if you get it, small waists and they're
not stretchy, and it's then you're you look like it's whearing.
You're like you just jumped off a two story building.
To get in them right then you weren't skinny time.
I'm with you, you know, skinny different ballgame. But stretch

(01:27:42):
I'm okay with because they're more breatheable, especially if you're
gonna throw a pair on in the summer, which is
hard to do with change, you know what I mean? Well,
it depends on if you're going to like a like
a dinner where you got jeans and a sport code.
You know that makes sense, It makes far more sense.
You're right start Ray, Good morning Ray.

Speaker 8 (01:28:00):
I was listening to your show and people were making,
uh issues with Brock Purdy being the last. Well they
drafted Trey Lance, Uh, division two guy who played against
four NFL guys his whole college career, and he was
a bust.

Speaker 7 (01:28:15):
Uh.

Speaker 8 (01:28:15):
There was another guy from North Dakota State, I think
he or North Dakota or one of those Dakota's North
Dcosta State drafted went who got drafted by what's that
Carson Wentz. Yeah, he was a bust Uh. I mean
if you look at the Super Bowl winning quarterbacks, very
few come from Division two to schools.

Speaker 6 (01:28:34):
Uh.

Speaker 8 (01:28:34):
They're not going to be from Lamar or Soul Ross State.
And who brock Purty reminds me of is uh on
my mind just went like he went to Sanford and
then he was drafted by New England and ended up
with the Raiders. Uh, all the same physical attributes. Uh,
Jim Plunkett, that's his name. And also as far as
the dog life is too short, I mean you had

(01:28:57):
some poor navy veteran who got killed yesterday just getting
his car and a cop getting killed. I mean, why
are they people upset about some guy's dog? And number two? Uh,
Lou Holtz was about five to seven and about one
five soaken wet Josel two mays five six and about

(01:29:17):
one fifty. Uh So I'm just curious where this door.

Speaker 7 (01:29:21):
Uh.

Speaker 8 (01:29:21):
And I went to the Navy at five seven and
I'm two fifteen. Now, this perception of being a dort
because I don't know what this.

Speaker 4 (01:29:31):
Guy looks like, but well, you do a simple Google
search and you know what I'm talking about. It's all
it's all in good fun either way. Get him a
message on his on his burner phone. Yeah, hey, Ray,
you know you're awfully quiet about your uh weak ass
performance from your A and m Aggie's man.

Speaker 5 (01:29:48):
What happened?

Speaker 8 (01:29:49):
Well, you know, not all to play Temple on a weekend.

Speaker 7 (01:29:54):
I mean, geez, I mean, but some of the win.

Speaker 5 (01:30:00):
Sorry, but who's counting?

Speaker 8 (01:30:01):
Oh yeah, well I'm happy for Sean on that one.

Speaker 5 (01:30:05):
You is just as bad as as an A and
M guy. You want LSU to get beat by anybody
and everybody, that's.

Speaker 8 (01:30:10):
For sure, well and certainly Texas. Maybe maybe Michigan can
step up to the play this weekend.

Speaker 5 (01:30:16):
If they're not cheating, Texas is going to bowl race Michigan.

Speaker 4 (01:30:22):
That's my call, you think, Yeah, I don't think Michigan's
I don't think Michigan is as good as advertised.

Speaker 8 (01:30:29):
I don't think so either, But I don't think Texas
is either.

Speaker 5 (01:30:31):
You're just being a Texas hater. Come on, man, let's
be real. Let's be real.

Speaker 8 (01:30:36):
Well, there's a.

Speaker 7 (01:30:37):
Lot to hate.

Speaker 8 (01:30:37):
I mean, I didn't make the school and I had
another point, but you made me lose it. But anyway,
oh uh, it'll be the Texans in Detroit and the
Super Bowl this year. Brock Perty won't be making it
so coach by another A and M guy.

Speaker 5 (01:30:52):
Now, let me ask you this. Are you let me
real quick before you go? Do you are you staying
that you don't think Brock perty is a good player. Oh,
I think he's a grateful Okay, just making sure I'm
with you. Yeah, I don't have the free nighters in
the super Bowl this year either, I'm with you. I
love thirty.

Speaker 8 (01:31:06):
Quarterbacks that are good and they get drafted late. They
have this perception of they didn't respect me, So I'm
gonna prove him wrong. I mean, I think that was
how Drew. I know Drew Brees wasn't drafted last.

Speaker 5 (01:31:22):
But here's the second round yet.

Speaker 8 (01:31:24):
Yeah, he should have been a first round or obviously
Joe Montana wasn't in the first round. I'm not sure
about Dan Marino.

Speaker 5 (01:31:32):
Marino was a twenty seventh pick of the first round.
He was the sixth quarterback taken in twenty twenty three,
I mean in nineteen eighty three, and there's five quarterbacks
taken in front of him. So yeah, he had a
bone to pick as well and ended up having that career.
There's a lot a little incentive if you're Brock Purty,
no question.

Speaker 8 (01:31:50):
Yeah, I mean, well yeah, you got I can't say
that on the radio. All right, you guys have a
great weekend or sorry weekday and I'll talk to you later.

Speaker 5 (01:32:03):
Appreciate its y. You got Ray baffled by telling them
one hundred and twenty five? What man, what'd you do
to Ray? Yeah? Ray was all fired up. Look what
you did? Love Ray on Montana, one of our one
of our consistent listeners and callers. I was, I was
kidding about the door work. Yea, I was. Oh, don't
backtrack now, bitch, No, I was. I'm just kidding. I

(01:32:27):
just love to tell because I love it. How Danny
Parker's also got the forty nine ers, the number one team,
and the quarterback's overrated. Yeah, good call, thanks, But yeah,
I knew you were just trying to throw into the
I mean, the hater ship. It's okay you could be
one of them, one of the haters. People probably say
that I'm a dork. That's fine. Well you know what
it's it's affectionate when people call you dork. Yeah, it's

(01:32:48):
okay to have a little dork, can't you? All right?
Just don't be what as you say? Five six, one
hundred and twenty Yeah, big head? What's wrong with you?

Speaker 7 (01:32:55):
Man?

Speaker 5 (01:32:55):
What do you mean? It's just how once you get
brotherly love? I mean, did you get fire up a generator. Okay,
generate him up with the two stroke Briggs and Stratton.
Can you give me a Briggs and Stratton stroke your ego? Yeah,
there you go. Oh my god, you saved the Dutch

(01:33:17):
run on that one. Watch watch yourself or you'll be
listening for the next week on radio.

Speaker 4 (01:33:21):
Oh my gosh, Thank God for good teammates, Holy Cow
speaking up, brotherly love.

Speaker 5 (01:33:25):
Thank God for good directions and turn and Sean and Tripoli.
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 4 (01:33:32):
Uh, we're gonna talk about Stefan Diggs. He finally talked
about why he wanted to leave the Buffalo bills.

Speaker 5 (01:33:38):
That's next.

Speaker 4 (01:33:39):
But we're also, as the Fellas alluded to, brotherly Love
electric and their American made Briggs and Stratton home generator,
get ahead of get ahead of the next severe storm
or hurricane right here in the city of Houston. And
when the power goes out, you don't have to worry
about it. Your generator kicks on and boom, you got
all of your power. Everything you need, your AC your

(01:33:59):
Wi Fi, your free your freezer, so forth and so on.
You don't want to be left in the dark like
we were with Hurricane Barrel. The number to joint or
excuse me, not the number to joint, the number to
call for a free quote. Three four six seven seven
seven three three seven zero. When you call that number
asked for Nathan King or Daniel Hopper, get yourself a
free quote. They have a fully stocked warehouse right now
with plenty of American made Bridges Stratton home generators ready

(01:34:21):
to be installed at your home. Brother Love Electric installs,
maintains and repairs all generators and they have twenty four
to seven monitoring of your generator system, so if there
is ever a problem, they're going to know about it
before you do. They have been servicing the Greater Houston
area for over ten years and they offer services and generators,
residential troubleshooting repair, as well as commercial and industrial electric.
Three four six seven seven seven three three seven zero.

(01:34:44):
It's the American made Briggs and Stratton home generator from
Brotherly Love Electric.

Speaker 3 (01:34:50):
For the Shawn Salisbury Show continues, they.

Speaker 5 (01:34:53):
Need to know no now you know.

Speaker 4 (01:34:57):
Also, signing Davis Mills to a your extension worth five
million bones is what Davis Mills is gonna is gonna
make with that extension, So.

Speaker 5 (01:35:08):
Five million bones for about money.

Speaker 4 (01:35:12):
Mills dog don't you. I hope money Mills at some
point gives us like a money celebration, you know, like
Johnny Manzel.

Speaker 5 (01:35:22):
Why not hmm, let's see five million good for him.
Gives you a solid backup that you can win with.

Speaker 7 (01:35:33):
I like it.

Speaker 4 (01:35:35):
So the Texans obviously adding Stefon Diggs this off season. Well,
Stefan Diggs finally broke the silence of what led to
him leaving the Bills. He said, quote, last year, I
was in the worst mental space I've been in since
I've been in the league. If I'm not in a
good space, obviously that's not the best for me. So

(01:35:58):
that's when things had to start shaking out. And quote, uh,
he was in an interview with GQ Sports. Did you
I don't even know GQ had a sports department.

Speaker 5 (01:36:07):
I didn't either. I had zero idea that. I mean,
I know there's articles, and you know they write articles.
I didn't know that they had a sports division where
they're they're covering this kind of stuff and Stephan Diggs,
do you know they do they do?

Speaker 7 (01:36:20):
You know?

Speaker 5 (01:36:20):
The fashion their their fashion magazine for the fall and yeah,
celebrities and you know, for their fall edition.

Speaker 4 (01:36:26):
It's good magazine. Yeah, like dudes wearing purses and stuff. Yeah,
Caleb Williams.

Speaker 5 (01:36:31):
Yeah, well triplely. What was that man bag that Caleb
Williams is wearing that We talked about that one day
with the nizz huts? Was it that with the gold one?
Was it looks like he bought his what's the one
he bought his line and it looks like the chain
and uh chain and uh gosh, dang it. What's it called?
Not emblems on that gift literally looks like testicles, yeah,

(01:36:52):
set like like goal testicles. It literally looks like testicles. Yeah, yeah, no,
and he probably gets a little testy over people up. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
dad joke, good one. So you were you were discussing
Stefan digs. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:37:12):
He also said in this interview to GQ Sports, quote,
the games looked a lot different. You can blame me.
I don't mind blaming me. I got big ass shoulders.
But pay attention, pay real close attention.

Speaker 5 (01:37:20):
Watch the game.

Speaker 4 (01:37:21):
Of course, there's plenty of plays I want back, but
there's a lot of plays that didn't go my way.
I need a lot of things to go right to
get the ball. You can't roll out of bed and
get eight hundred yards in the first eight games, your
best receivers doing that. You tell me about the last
ten what change, where things were, where their change is
going on. I just pay attention to what really happened
and not what people try to act like happen like
for the last ten games, I forgot how to f

(01:37:43):
and play football question mark.

Speaker 5 (01:37:46):
Yeah, that's never been a problem for me, his ability
to play football. So listen, he's out. I mean people
leave for different reasons and want out for different reasons,
and he's at a place he wants to be now.
I don't think it's going to be a big deal,
you know, and if you big deal for the Texans
to have him, But I don't think his pat you
know what, let it go doesn't always work in certain places.
That's all right.

Speaker 4 (01:38:06):
If you look at his production last year, been productive everywhere.
The things that he mentions in this article, you know,
if you want to quote unquote fact check him, he's
not wrong. I mean the first what one, two, three, four, five,
five out of the first six games over one hundred

(01:38:28):
yards receiving the targets is what stands out to me.
Thirteen targets, seven, twelve, seven, eleven, sixteen, twelve, twelve, and
then the week that he mentioned it drops off pretty significantly,
like there was only there was a week where he
was only targeted five times. There were two weeks that
he was targeted five times in those last seven eight weeks.

(01:38:49):
And I do believe they went from who was at
Ken Dorsey was the offensive coordinator and they brought in
Joe Brady yep, gave him the offensive coordinator spot. Some
things obviously, for whatever reason changed. I just don't understand
how and again this is all is all way in
the past now, but I just don't understand how you
go from having your best wide receiver to getting between

(01:39:11):
seven and seventeen targets down to between five and eight
in the last seven or eight weeks of the season.

Speaker 5 (01:39:19):
And I'm sure Buffalo is going to paint a different
picture than Stefan Diggs does, right, But there's no doubting
the one thing is talent, right, And there's no doubting
in Minnesota at the end when he left, and in
Buffalo there was I'm not saying there were some headache moments,
there's no question and distractions or they wouldn't have traded him.
You don't trade really good players money, no doubt, trade him,

(01:39:39):
no doubt. Here's an idea, And there's not a show
I go on outside of this show that doesn't ask
me about him, what it's going to be like here,
and to me, the only thing to keep an eye
on you if you're wondering about that, which I'm not
concerned about it at all. Great leadership here they I
think he knows what he's getting into. And also a
one year deal, monster year for him to get paid

(01:40:01):
one more big contract. So and to name him team
captain obviously tells you that he's coming here and made
an impact in the building immediately. The only thing to
look for. They lose a game close, he gets four targets,
Nico Collins has nine catches or somebody else does not
saying he's jealous of that. But they lose a game

(01:40:22):
late and he wasn't involved from like the middle of
the third quarter on, didn't get any targets. How's he
respond when that happens, You'll get an idea of Okay,
no big deal, man, we'll get it next to you.
Know what I'm saying, I want him listen. I want
my receivers to all want the ball as long as
wan the ball doesn't isn't getting your quarterback where he's like, oh,

(01:40:42):
I got to make sure Stefan Diggs is happy. I
don't think that's the case. I think there's enough football
and enough quarterback to get the ball to them that
it'll be fine. But if you're wondering, I tell him,
I said, listen, none of us know how it's going
to turn out. I think I have pretty good idea,
I said, but when that happens, here's what will happen.
Not when he catches nine balls for one hundred and
forty is when he has one of those days, and

(01:41:02):
he'll have one where he catches three balls for twenty
seven yards probably and they go win or lose. How
will he be and how will he be? And will
it be just angry and going about it and move on?
Don't let it faster? Or will it become a they
need to include where it's an eye thing instead of
a we thing. I don't think it's gonna be a problem.
I think the head coach and this team, the leadership

(01:41:22):
on this team will help that. Listen, everybody, you're not
Rarely do players now spend their life in one city, right,
so it's okay for him to come here. And if
it didn't work out well the way they wanted or
the end in Buffalo, so what their loss is the
gain here and hopefully it'll be the big game in
the Stefan Diggs that we know is gonna be a

(01:41:43):
great player. Yeah, have you heard anything?

Speaker 4 (01:41:44):
I mean as far as camp goes preseason nothing, Yeah,
everything's been good.

Speaker 5 (01:41:50):
Well, well, they named him a team captain for a reason.
You don't name turds a team captain. You just don't.
So they feel pretty good about it. And with that
comes accountability to the rest of the team.

Speaker 4 (01:42:03):
No, you know, in another way to hold yourself accountable.
How's that Men's Tea Clinic?

Speaker 5 (01:42:06):
Been there, done that, and still been there and done
it men'st Clinic dot com ninety seven to two, Go
Men's Tea. How can I short of coming into putting
you in my own vehicle, my truck from Classic Chevy Sugarland,
putting you in my truck to take you to Men's
ta clinic five convenient locations? What else do you need?
Are you sluggish? Is your sex life suffering? Are you

(01:42:28):
a little bit of brain fog? Have you said, well,
it's not just my sex life that my full body
wiles is kind of off. But I'm not sure what
it is. Well, what if it's simply low testosterone and
you were to go in and they were to draw
a little blood and by the end of the day
give you the results and it said need testosterone. A
little upgrade in the testosterone so you can get it

(01:42:48):
back to normalizing it and get out of lower gear. Hell,
I don't know about you, but waking up and you're like,
oh my gosh, I can't get into high gear. Is
it sucks? So why would you want that? And why
would you wait? And by that time you're gonna say,
I love this so much, I'm not missing because life changes,
and this has changed lives. For ten years, Men's t
Clinic's been changing lives and in some cases saving them

(01:43:09):

sounds a little bit better to me than six, So

(01:43:52):
as you head into twenty twenty five. Make it a
great fall. Men's t Clinic dot com, Men'staclinic dot com
nine to seven to two, Go Men's.

Speaker 3 (01:43:58):
Tea About the Sean Salisbury Show, continued.

Speaker 5 (01:44:04):
Anthony, welcome in.

Speaker 6 (01:44:07):
Hey, what's up guys? Hey? I wanted to see if
I could get some fantasy football advice from y'all. So
when I got to the seventh round of my draft,
somehow T Higgins was still on the board, so I
had to grab him. So when we got to the
eighth round, but my two options at quarterback that I

(01:44:28):
was able to draft is uh Jayden Daniels and Brock Party.
So I wanted to know who you guys would start
and uh, right now, I have jayde and Daniels starting
simply because Rock Party's playing the Jets this week. So
I just wanted to know who you guys would go with.
Appreciate the show.

Speaker 5 (01:44:47):
Yeah, hey, Anthony, Who's well, who's Washington plan?

Speaker 7 (01:44:49):
Do we know?

Speaker 6 (01:44:52):
They? I can't remember off the top of my head.
I just think Jade Daniels is a promising rookie, so
I know the Jets defense is absolutely loaded. So I
don't know you're the quarterback guys, jarn So I just
I don't know if you have faith in a rookie

(01:45:13):
week one or if you would go with the vat.

Speaker 5 (01:45:17):
I personally, for me, I think that when you're in Washington,
you're going to I don't when I say protect him,
you're going to make sure it's conducive for a good
start for Jade and Daniels. So I don't know how
much of the they're going to just like take the
top off and let him go, let it rip. His
versatility with his feet provides you that extra I don't
know if it's in your league, if it's touchdown, if

(01:45:40):
yards with his feet and that, I don't know how
all the fantasy stuff, what certain leagues. But if him
getting into the end zone with his feet, that's a
good one. I think it does matter and it's versatility.
But remember Tampa's got a good defense too. They scramble
around in Todd Bowles and them dealing with a rookie quarterback,
and you know, first game, first start, I think Jade
Daniel is going to have a hell of a career.
I'm never even though it's the Jets, I think brock

(01:46:03):
Purty locks in. For me, I would start Purty even
though it is the Jets and they got a good defense,
because it seems to me that brock Purty and I
think about coordinators in fantasy football, I also study who
the coordinator is you're playing and what their thought process is.
And for me, I just think that you know, this
is a two touchdown, two hundred and forty yards eighteen

(01:46:23):
of twenty two, twenty to twenty seven b Rock party game.
Even if they play well on defense, I still think
brock Purty plays well enough to get it done. Would
I'd rarely start the rookie unless you know that like
in for instance, Caleb Williams and your other quarterbacks, not
a guy who you trust just yet and they're playing

(01:46:45):
against a team that they're going to put the ball
in his hand every time. I think though, for the
most part, most coordinators protect rookies and feel their way through.
If it was Week three, maybe different, depending on the
opponent is. I would still start brock Purty regardless because
of the weapons, meaning the forty nine Ers, and I
think sometimes quarterbacks shine better and they may have to
throw it more because of the defense that you're about

(01:47:07):
to face. Because if you're playing a piss poor defense
and you're gonna win and it's gonna be a blowout, hell,
you may hand it off in the third quarter and
not throw it much more. So I'd still take Purdy,
But talk to me in about a month and who
the opponent is, and Jayden and Daniels maybe the guy
because I love him, But I think brock Purty's proven
over two years that he can play well against anybody.

Speaker 6 (01:47:26):
I would start him, all right, Sean, I appreciate it, man,
I'm gonna go with brock Purty, I think, and I
also think that the forty nine Ers defense has the
ability to get.

Speaker 5 (01:47:38):
Rock Party the ball. Agreed, It's many a fun game
to watch. I can't wait to say, yeah, I'm with you.
If you lose, I owe you. If you lose because
of me, I owe you one. But I would start
purty because I also think he's got big dreams and
goals ahead of him too. But Jade Daniels is going
to be fine rookie in their first start. He's going
to be, you know, I think swimming a little bit,
as most rookies do. And we'll see if the forty

(01:47:59):
nine ers take off the governor and let I mean
the uh, the commanders take off the governor and let
him let it rip. I know the forty nine ers will.

Speaker 6 (01:48:07):
Okay, all right, thanks, I appreciate you, you bet, but
I appreciate you.

Speaker 5 (01:48:11):
Yeah, I'll do. Are there there are there leagues that
only touchdown passes matter? There are, aren't there?

Speaker 7 (01:48:15):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:48:16):
It's point it points per Receptions PPR league standard leagues.

Speaker 5 (01:48:21):
Yeah, I'm in both.

Speaker 2 (01:48:22):
I'm in one.

Speaker 5 (01:48:23):
People help people. I've never been in and coached a
full fantasy team myself for a full season. Really wow. Ever,
Yet I think that those who started fay what a
great gig fantasy football is and what a to keep
people COMPETI I love it. I just don't just sit
down to stay, because if I'm going to get in it,
I'm not having some computer pick my lineup. If you're

(01:48:45):
going to do it, I'm going all in.

Speaker 2 (01:48:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:48:47):
But all these different leagues and everything. I love it.
I'll give some insight, but I just I don't have
the patience with it to go sit down every day
and and and who's this and who's on the waiver
wire and do that. It was the general manager part
of it is fun for everybody. I think fantasy football
is awesome, but I'm not a big fantasy football player.
I like to help, but I don't get in these leagues.
And you're in what like three of them? Three of them?

Speaker 7 (01:49:08):
Man?

Speaker 5 (01:49:08):
And how many are you in? Tripole? I'm in one one. Yeah,
we're drafting the day we finally got another. Dude, how
do you manage three? I couldn't. It's really yeah. Do
you like the computer?

Speaker 7 (01:49:18):
Do it?

Speaker 8 (01:49:18):
Or do you no?

Speaker 6 (01:49:19):
I do it?

Speaker 5 (01:49:19):
Okay? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (01:49:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:49:20):
Oh so you make your own picks, Brian, Oh yeah,
all the way through the run. Oh yeah, yep, yep.
So I would have to make my own. I would not.
I couldn't let a computer do yeah. And auto draft sucks.
Yeah yeah, follow it, but I don't pick. I don't
pick teams. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:49:33):
The league, my favorite league is the league that me
and all my best friends have been in for like
fourteen years now.

Speaker 5 (01:49:37):
I really like like the prize pick stuff where you
could pick one guy against one guy that time, who's
going to get the most yard. Yeah. I love matchup fantasy.
I like even more.

Speaker 4 (01:49:46):
Survivor pools are cool. That's where you basically each week
you pick a team to win.

Speaker 5 (01:49:50):
One of my favorites now, I do play in that
where you pick a team to win if you're the
last team standing, so you got to look at the
schedule ahead of time and who they're playing in Week
seventeen is opposed to Week two. Are fun and there's
big money to be made in a lot of these
leagues too, which is cool.

Speaker 4 (01:50:03):
Yeah, you know, I was in obviously, I was in
scott Still over the weekend, and I still it's just
so crazy to me that that, And I know we've
talked about it a couple of different times.

Speaker 5 (01:50:11):
How sports betting is not legal here yet. I just, man,
I don't know too much money involved for it not
to be at some point, just like cannabis. Yeah, you
don't have to smoke it or and you don't have
to go bet it. You don't have to, but there's
too much money and too much advantage. I mean, I

(01:50:32):
get it, and like I said, i'm not I don't
tell people to go do it, but I would. That's
on each individual, but there's a lot of money to
be made by and regardless of whether we want it
or not, all you got to do is follow the
money trail eventually, and then they'll leave it up to
you to make the choice. Yeah, I was at what
is it talking? Stick walking? Stickers are?

Speaker 6 (01:50:52):
Ye?

Speaker 5 (01:50:52):
Dude? There's sportsbook for college football that Saturday packed. Oh
of course, I mean, just like the Draft Kings place
out of it. Yeah, there was that one as well. Yeah,
that one was insane. Like I said, you don't have
to go to it, but if they would be kind
of nice. Oh I agree, I agree, And I to me,
I'm not a I don't legislate, you know, legislate law,

(01:51:14):
But to me, I don't see how most of them
aren't going to have sports betting and cannabis legalized. Then
you make the choice yourself. The money alone is just
too there's too much money involved. Yeah, way too much.
I just don't and meaning that those who follow the money,
the moneyillad you to everything. Right, that's it and it
all ends up at the same pot for the most part.

Speaker 4 (01:51:35):
Yeah, speaking of your money, fellas, you need to invest
your money in your haircut. I have the perfect place
for it. It's called the Boardroom Styling Lounge. Right now,
it's their twentieth anniversary. The Boardroom Styling Lounge the original

Speaker 5 (01:53:28):
No, they're part of the basic the White Boy Wednesday.
No they're not. No, No, why are you so? Do
you hate so FM kids?

Speaker 2 (01:53:36):
Women?

Speaker 7 (01:53:37):
Man?

Speaker 5 (01:53:37):
That's what you're bending against me And at one hundred
and twenty pounders, that are five to eight as you've
already ripped those guys and feathers with that. Yeah, you
just I mean, whoa, I'm bigger than five a here
tripling dripley did? Did I offend you with that? Yeah?
Yeah you did?

Speaker 10 (01:53:56):
What?

Speaker 5 (01:53:57):
Plus it was raised, Brian, it was rased.

Speaker 4 (01:54:00):
Okay, okay, so I I ruffle feathers for the short
kings out there. Yeah, and somehow it was racist as well.

Speaker 5 (01:54:08):
Yeah, it just has to be right. I mean if you,
if you ruffled feathers, would just throw the race thing
in there.

Speaker 4 (01:54:14):
If there is ever a guy that's just a pure
basic white guy, it's Danny Dorkins Parkins Parkins.

Speaker 5 (01:54:20):
Yeah, you said, because he's he's thin and not over
five ten.

Speaker 4 (01:54:27):
Interesting, interesting, Sean, let's be real here for two seconds.

Speaker 5 (01:54:33):
So he's a little translucent, he's so white. Look at it.
Look like Danny though, I do talented guy, So I'm
sure he's talented. That's fantastic, he's on TV. I'm not No,
I did not you fed triple though, No, triple what
are you? Triple A? About five nine? About five eight,
five eight? About a buck? Forty buck fifty?

Speaker 7 (01:54:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:54:55):
About but forty man? Yeah, what cut deep and it
just had a hint. I don't know why, but it
had a hint that it was racist. I don't know
why that. He just did U t A. I don't
know why you're ripping a white guy. So maybe you
know what it is you hate the white man. Oh,
here we go. What do we got going on? You

(01:55:16):
ever notice then when we get on these rolls, all
oh yeah, yeah, Well, because neither him and I would
say something that's true. I like Brock Murdy. He's well,
he's six to one, so yeah, makes sense. Yeah, oh dude,
solid player too good, lower half too Yeah, thick, Yeah yeah,

(01:55:38):
basic white guy though, yeah, basicly Yeah, for sure, no doubt.
You know when he gets that bag, he's gonna he's
about to get that bag. Dues, his left tackle, said
he deserves a big extension. And that's from Big Trent Williams,
who got his big extension. Just pay him all man,
Trent got eighty plus. Brock's gonna probably make two hundred
four for about let's go through it four for about

(01:55:59):
two thirds for rock. Let's that come out to fifty
five a year. In between fifty and fifty five a year. Yeah, okay,
who deserves more money. Rock Purtty or to a tongue
of iloa, Uh, brock Perty. I'm to a guy, I
like it. I think he's a good player. Uh, rock Purty,
Rock Purty, what did to make fifty three? Fifty three
and a half? Something like fifty three and a half. Yeah,

(01:56:22):
you think he's getting anything less than that? No, So
four years, let's go four years? Fifty four a year?
What's what's what's that come out to? Four years? Buck? Sixteen?
I mean two sixteen, between two fifteen and two twenties
my prediction, maybe even a little more sixteen. Okay, so
between two fifteen and two thirty for four, how's that
when he gets that big extension. That's what I'm going with.

(01:56:44):
Trevor Lawrence is getting fifty five a year, and the
reason why he gave you know why you can give
Rock Purty that big extension sooner than later. Wasn't a
first round pick. You don't get the fifth year with him?
Oh that's right, yeah, you don't good call. So he's like,
I'm gonna get paid like a first rounder who had
two good seasons. But I was a seventh round er,
So you don't get to pin me into the fifth
year justin Herberts giving a fifty two and a half

(01:57:07):
a VY, he's going to be between in the Herbert Tua.
He's going to be in that range. But the guy's
overrated according to some. According to Danny Vie, he deserves
a big and what court of when they say a
product of the system. So let me that's another thing
that chaps me.

Speaker 4 (01:57:26):
Well, you know how many times last year I read
statistics of Rock Party and they're like, oh, this is
a checkdown king.

Speaker 3 (01:57:32):
Dude.

Speaker 4 (01:57:32):
He averaged almost eight yards a throw, eight nine yards
at one point during games.

Speaker 5 (01:57:36):
At one point he was either one or two at
balls number one, he was number one. So but remember
it's system, So any is it system for Josh Allen?
Is it system? Is its system for Tua? Is it
system for Lamar? And then for everybody every quarterback? Isn't
that why you have quarter The narrative from a distance

(01:57:56):
is absurd that some of these people see because they
know more than Kyle Shanahan does about him. Well apparently, yeah,
at least that's what they were led to believe. That
social media knows more than Kyle Shanahan about his own quarterback.
Late call for John, How wondered what John? Do you
think Johnson is waking up?

Speaker 7 (01:58:12):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (01:58:13):
No, he's been up. Hunt He's hunting something, probably hunting
roofs or hunting birds, one of the two. Probably hunting
a couple of dudes. John, what's happening?

Speaker 10 (01:58:21):
Hey, what's happening?

Speaker 8 (01:58:21):
Man?

Speaker 14 (01:58:22):
Now I'm hunting actually going, uh to put some tires
on the leg. They got none else to do this,
right and Kim folks jastras asking about all the rain
for this upcoming dove party that we're throwing this week.
Here now, I'm sitting here twilling my thumbs being bored.

Speaker 5 (01:58:38):
Better get on him, ken folk, Okay.

Speaker 14 (01:58:40):
We can't folks, stupid man, damn coon asses.

Speaker 5 (01:58:47):
O bron Why are you racist?

Speaker 8 (01:58:49):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (01:58:49):
Here we go?

Speaker 5 (01:58:50):
Oh my god, stop it.

Speaker 10 (01:58:53):
Hey, really let's go. Let's just give me back.

Speaker 2 (01:58:56):
Hey, let's talk about Collage football.

Speaker 5 (01:58:58):
Great at sport there is.

Speaker 7 (01:59:02):
Man.

Speaker 8 (01:59:02):
Look at Brian Kelly.

Speaker 10 (01:59:03):
You gotta get your ass on up out by rouge because.

Speaker 14 (01:59:07):
Bruh, I don't know what you think you're doing, but
number one, you're an overrated coach. I didn't like to
hire to begin with. I don't want to hear about
Notre Dame about what he did.

Speaker 7 (01:59:17):
At Notre Dame.

Speaker 3 (01:59:18):
Because he didn't do squat a Notre game.

Speaker 5 (01:59:21):
He's overrated.

Speaker 14 (01:59:22):
And then you got that jackass of whoever whatever whatever
his name is, wide receiver.

Speaker 10 (01:59:29):
I had to kick his ass off the team.

Speaker 3 (01:59:32):
You don't do that, man.

Speaker 10 (01:59:33):
Ain't no place in America for that man.

Speaker 14 (01:59:36):
And if somebody sits there and thank jd Well, it's
it's it was caught up. And now he ain't caught
up in the moment.

Speaker 8 (01:59:42):
Bruh, you don't.

Speaker 3 (01:59:44):
You don't do that, man.

Speaker 14 (01:59:45):
And then you do it again on the sideline. That's
embarrassing to the to the university. That's embarrassing to that team.
And that shows you right there, Brian Kelly has no
control over with the La Shu Tigers.

Speaker 7 (02:00:02):
No, they're walking over him.

Speaker 10 (02:00:05):
I just it's.

Speaker 14 (02:00:08):
That's dumbfound and idiotic man. And but you know, Matt,
I can't what it's better than Florida State because no
Florida State got trouble.

Speaker 6 (02:00:20):
Oh, Brian, Brian, bron.

Speaker 10 (02:00:24):
What we're going to do today, bron cauld.

Speaker 5 (02:00:26):

Speaker 7 (02:00:28):

Speaker 5 (02:00:28):
Me and Sean gotta get into the nine o'clock hour.

we get to play on Friday? Not the Texans song?

Speaker 3 (02:04:32):
Yeah, he's going for the corner.

Speaker 8 (02:04:35):
He's got it.

Speaker 5 (02:04:37):
Love it, you can kiss it goodbye. I'm not doing it.

Speaker 4 (02:04:45):
Could you imagine u TK and Blummer calling a football game?

Speaker 5 (02:04:49):
I'd love it? Awesome. First and ten for CJ.

Speaker 4 (02:04:55):
Stroud, he's gonna drop back the path looking for Tank
Dow down the sideline. He's got him forty five yard
throwing Cats first down Texans.

Speaker 5 (02:05:06):
That sounds all I would love it. Who doesn't seriously,
who doesn't want that? Come on now? Dog? Who doesn't
want that? Be a thirty seven yard attempt for Kaimi fairbaron? Yeah?
There he goes two of today? Blumber? Did they get thrown?
Doobie'd be a great corner.

Speaker 4 (02:05:26):
Mariethi al du Bond with the tackle. It's a tackle
for loss. That is the seventeenth tackle for loss on
the season. Plumber leads the NFL. I love in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (02:05:35):
I'd love to hear that. That'd be awesome. Do you
think Kyle Tucker rejoins the team that doesn't do? We will?
Today's Wednesday? Today is Wednesday? Is he going to the
minor leagues. They said, he's actually probably gonna skip the
probably that's my point. Yeah, so they're just like we
said last I said, well, if he's going to the
minor leagues, there's no way he plays this weekend here.

(02:05:57):
But if if he's just it's a full blown pro
and his first bat's going to be coming back here
without going to the minor leaguees, I don't have problem
with it. If that's the case by the weekend, I'll say, yes,
it's post labor day, so I'm good with it.

Speaker 7 (02:06:10):
Now.

Speaker 5 (02:06:11):
Figured there was going to be post labor day and
here we are. But if they do change their mind
and send him down for assignment, meaning to get some
minor league work in, then there's no And if it's
two games, okay, But if they're going seven, eight, nine games,
and then of course not. But if he is going
to skip that like it is anticipated now, then you
may see him. I guess we'll get you know, dand

(02:06:32):
Brown can give us an update. How close is he is?
How close a day or is how close a week.
I just spent three months yesterday, this.

Speaker 4 (02:06:43):
Whole situation from you know, a reported bruise to a
full blown break.

Speaker 5 (02:06:52):
Just just weird. Did they know it was? And that
was the first reported by uh chandlerone correct? So is
this a late diagnosis by them or did they know
coming out of the shoot?

Speaker 4 (02:07:06):
Mean, let me just pull up the actual article so
I can quote it correctly. It was basically saying after
further imaging was when they figured out Kyle Tucker himself.
He said, quote after a little bit of time and

(02:07:26):
continued imaging and stuff, after the swelling and everything kind
of calmed down, it was revered revealed there was a
little fracture in the shin end quote.

Speaker 5 (02:07:35):
Here mean the things that we said a week and
a half after it was after it hit off the
shin Yeah, damn it. I'm not a doctor. Damn it, Jim,
I'm a doctor. Not a doctor. Remember Star Trek with
the Bill Shatner.

Speaker 4 (02:07:47):
Yeah, I know William Shatner, but I've never seen Star
Trek legendary Bill Shatner Star Trek legend.

Speaker 5 (02:08:01):
And going strong?

Speaker 7 (02:08:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:08:02):
Old, but I think he is? Is he not? In
ninety five? Let's see, let's play how old is this person?
William Shatton tell you what he's not afraid to do,
beat me up, dive in the sand, in Santa Monica
catching a slant route two years off. He's ninety three.
He's been a hell of a run for Mik done
as he had in this show. But I love him. Wow,

(02:08:23):
I'd love William Shatner's freaking awesome man. Good for him. Yeah,
I feel like you would have been a tricky if
you were born earlier.

Speaker 4 (02:08:33):
Never seen Star Wars either, me either, Brian, you have
some Star Wars I have? Not good Once you roast him, Sean,
roast him, Come on, roast him. He's laughing in your face, Sean.
He just said you're a bitch without saying that he did.
He said your movie selection sucks, he whispered in my ear,

(02:08:55):
and triple you'll be doing overnights tonight started now, I
uh start trking. I get some, I mean hardcore Star
Trek fans and Star Wars, but I I don't understand
why we think that old movies that you can't go
back and watch them. But hey, not everybody's a track.

Speaker 7 (02:09:14):
Ye.

Speaker 5 (02:09:14):
I wasn't one, but I like Star Trek and I
like Bill Bill Shatner. I didn't mind Billy Shatner. I
like him. I was fortunate enough to meet him and
a good dude, his dog diving in the sand, catching
footballs on the trash. Yeah, and you know what he
he sure has held don't look ninety three? No, he
does not know. He doesn't by him. That's what I'm saying.
How much work has he done? Who cares more power

(02:09:35):
to him? You got the money to get the dog on?
Buttock's done or botox? Should I say? Good for him?
I don't hate him for it. Got any mail enhancement? Yeah,
I don't think his face. No, but I don't think
what do you mean? Let me just clear this up
for you, Carl, like when you go the poll, because
I doubt it, no poll about smoking cigars. I don't

(02:09:59):
think you go into the doctor to say, could you
give me some mail enhancement on my face? Because if
you do that, it's gonna be a Texas tea bag. Okay,
you do not. You don't refer to botox. I'm imaginings,

(02:10:19):
not something. I'm not an expert in that field. Okay,
maybe one day I'll try it. Okay. I don't think
Billy Shattner or anybody else goes in and say, hey,
what are you here for? I'd like, uh, some mail
enhancement on my face. Hell no, what did you just say?
You want some mail enhancement on your face? Huh? Let
mean let me bull that one over.

Speaker 7 (02:10:41):
What Hey?

Speaker 5 (02:10:43):
Yeah, I got that. It's free too. By the way,
mail enhancement, No, I don't think you call you're not
getting mail enhancement when you get botox or any of that.
That's just called bowtok. You're right, but you're enhancing. No,
but mail enhancement means in the enhancement in the secondual
terms meaning doctor empty. It means growing things, making it bigger. Oh,

(02:11:06):
enlargement you don't want, right, you're not. You don't want
to enlarge your ears or your nose, or enlarge the
circles under your eyes or the wrinkles. You want to
diminish them. Okay, at least to my knowledge. I mean
I probably need some of them. Aforehead around my eyes
in a little crows crows feet around your eyes. But
I don't think you walk in and in a matter
of fact, say it out loud, check it out. What

(02:11:27):
are you hear for of, mister Lilima. Well, you know,
I I'd like some mail enhancement all over my face.

Speaker 3 (02:11:33):
We could do that, sure, I got a room for you.

Speaker 5 (02:11:38):
Yeah, so to get to cost you your dignity? Can
you tell can you tell the listeners what a Texas
tea bag is? Because I don't. I have no idea.
Just everything's bigger in Texas. So yeah, it's just the
lift and tea bag a little bit bigger. But for
you to say, oh, did he get mail enhancement, now,
I don't know that, but you said mail enhancement on
his face. Yeah, that's a personal thing. I would No.

(02:12:00):
I'm just saying, you know, I mean, will will you Shatner?
Looks good for ninety three hours mail, you know, enhancement
for facial feature, just a little upgrade as I would
call or a what do they call when you go
in and you know a little to get that warranty
and you go in and then turn it in, so
you're like getting new you know, the warranty covers you know,
your vehicle warrant. Yeah, extended warranty on the fate where

(02:12:22):
he's like, okay, I need to extend this look a
little longer. I don't think we call it mail enhancement. Okay,
you want to look it up on the Gospel. No,
because if you say mail enhancement to your gospel. It's
gonna end up really really not be a company. So
I would then, Now, if somebody out there who's got boattox,
did you go in and ask for mail enhancement on
your face? Yeah, it seems like that'd probably be a

(02:12:43):
bad thing to do. Probably not gonna do that though. Yeah,
speaking of muddy in the waters might be a little
heavy to take care of there, buddy.

Speaker 4 (02:12:52):
No thanks, I mean it sounds like it's all pretty expensive.
What should I do with my money though?

there for Monday. Why would you fly him out and
and fly the other the Julia? And because Julia was
off too. I think that you're getting him till the
rest of the series, Dude, I do. That's just just
a hunch. What's it? Two more games tomorrow and today
and tomorrow? Okay, So I think, I mean, I don't

(02:15:44):
know do they do? They do it. You just take
Monday and then we'll fly in and you'll leave on
on the day off on Tuesday. Maybe maybe it was
just a labor day thing for those guys and they'll
take it off. But I'm assuming when you take one
game off of a road trip on you know, on
a certain that maybe you take the whole time. I
don't know, I don't know. I like the original broadcast team.

(02:16:06):
I'll just leave it at that. Okay, all due respect
to all the hot man that's great, you know, nothing personal, right,
The original broadcast team does a really nice job. They
do damn good job. Oh that's why I'm gonna be
listening on a sports talking about and that broadcast team
does a great job. Too fortunate to have two to
do phenomenal work here. Yeah, I just don't want to

(02:16:27):
hear it because it's a tough listen calling it like
it is and nobody hates you for it. No, well
he might so well, I'm sure he'll get over it. Yeah,
it'll be okay. You know, build a bridge and get
over it. Dog, You're gonna get over it whether you
build a bridge or not. If they don't, that's that's
a them problem. Righetty on the bump tonight. Can't wait

(02:16:48):
to see it steadily improve and getting stronger as the
season goes on. And that's unheard of for rookie pitchers.
Taking on Nick Martinez known as Nicky around here, NICKI pooh, no, God, no,
now I'm getting Now I'm getting tweets about mail enhancement.
I mean, look what you started, man. No, I didn't
start it. Okay, I didn't start it. You You You

(02:17:11):
stuck a ball sitting on a tee and said, hey, Sean,
I'm gonna go. Maybe maybe I should go get some
Did William Shatner get mail enhancement on his face?

Speaker 6 (02:17:21):
No?

Speaker 5 (02:17:22):
I think yet, that's exactly what you said till I
hear the tape. Didn't happen?

Speaker 7 (02:17:25):
Oh it?

Speaker 5 (02:17:26):
Well check your Twitter. They heard the tape too, and
they heard it live and in color. That's okay. So
now I'm gonna I'm gonna disagree with you. I'm gonna
say this was this is this was on you. Male
enhancement doesn't blow. That's below the waist thing, not above it.
Oh I didn't know that. Well, then maybe Men's t
Clinic should drop you. Whoa Okay, I don't think they

(02:17:50):
do mail enhancement though, No that I don't think so either.
But your testosteron will help you sexual wellness, right yeah, yeah,
full body one wreck.

Speaker 4 (02:17:59):
Yeah you feel it's a total wellness optimization plan, yeah,
total correct, right, yeah, but I don't think that when
you describe it, why you gripp on the mic that way,
I'm still I'm still.

Speaker 5 (02:18:14):
Trying to trying to hang you out of this one beating.
So let's say you were doing like a medspat thing, yes,
and they said can you talk about getting botox? And
you said, yeah, we got over there and get your
some mail and handsful on your face. Well, Brian, we
loved you endorse in the product for a day, but
we'll move on, thank you, because we don't do mail

Speaker 3 (02:20:09):
We're up for the Shawn Salisbury Show continued.

Speaker 5 (02:20:14):
Now we're going to welcome in Astro's general manager Dana
Brown of the show. Yes we do, for his weekly
nine thirty visit. Boy, what a season. It's been six
and a half game lead, gain another half game on
the day off with what Brian twenty four to go right,
twenty four games go. That's a good place to be
in considering a couple months ago there were ten games
out and look at this and Dana Brown said, a

(02:20:35):
long season it is, and here we are and the
marathon is now a sprint. Dana, welcome in. Good to
have you on and true let's let's dive deep, just
you and I. Nobody's really paying attention, just you and
I talking right now. Data. It's good to have you.
I hope you had a good Labor Day weekend when
you were ten games out. I know your grind, but
was there a time when you thought, man, this is

(02:20:56):
going to be a bigger task. And would you have
believed from ten games out to six and a half
in front that urgently? Would you have thought you'd be
in this position after that start.

Speaker 7 (02:21:08):
Well the surge, I probably wouldn't have guessed like to
be six and a half up to get that big
of a surge, right. I felt all along that when
we were ten games back, remembering and and when I
was in Atlanta, we were ten back and we ran
down the mats, and I knew that this club was
a really good club, and so I didn't panic, and
I felt like, look, let's stay focused. We have a

(02:21:31):
good team, and let's get this done. And I give
Joe and his staff credit, you know, for keeping the
boys focused. And you know, I think just having that
familiar face down there with Joe that really helped because
the guys were used to winning. Maybe if there was
someone that didn't work with these guys before, they may
have they may have panicked and got the guys to

(02:21:52):
panic a little bit. But having a familiar face in
Joe and his leadership has really helped this team out.

Speaker 5 (02:21:59):
Dane. I asked you the first month of the season,
what would be the learning curve, even though he'd been
with the organization. The learning curve for a guy who's
a bench coach and run in spring training, but to
be a manager, you know this, it's it's different. I said,
what's a learning curve and you said, I don't expect
it to be very long. I think he'll learn quickly
because he's been here in the relationship. Well, here we are,

(02:22:20):
and he's got his team in first place with you
guys six and a half in front and an amazing turnaround.
So I'll ask you this, has he managed much like
a rookie manager or business as usual? Has he lived
up to your expectations as a rookie manager.

Speaker 7 (02:22:35):
Yeah, absolutely, he's managed just as I expected. I think
one of the appealing things with Joe was that he
had familiarity with the players downstairs, and that's very important
when you're going to manage a group of men, and
so being familiar with those guys is very important. He definitely,
you know, has gotten to the expectations of what I

(02:22:58):
would expect in the manager, just you know, keeping the
whole course on the ship on course. I think that's
the most important thing. It didn't panic never waivered, never
got frustrated, kept an even keel. Sometimes when the players
see the manager panic, they start to panic, they start

(02:23:18):
to press. Joe had an even temperament throughout the entire process,
and like I said, I have to give him credit.
And you know I knew, you know, because there was
a lot of managers doing in this game that were
passed up. You know, guys like Robbie Thompson in Philly.
You know, those guys were passed up and they were
there in the organization. And the one thing I wanted

(02:23:40):
to stay focused on was, look, you need a guy
who could come in and know the team and they
will not go into panic mode if something goes wrong.
And certainly Joe has been really focused on the winning
success that we've had here in this organization. He did
not panic. He continued to manage and we continue to

(02:24:04):
have good conversations throughout the entire time, and hey, what
do we need to do to fix this? What do
we need to do to get better? And I give
him a lot of credit, and most of all, give
them the players credit because they you know, they got hot.
You know, the bats got hot. The pitching has been
the best in baseball. You know, for since since August first,

(02:24:25):
you know, April twenty seventh, we were you know, struggling
back then, and then since then we've been sixty eight
and forty four. So ultimately the Boys has turned it around,
and you know, we want to get this division. Let's
win it, and then let's get deep into the postseason
to try to get out of the World Series.

Speaker 5 (02:24:41):
Here's astros GM Dana Brown for his weekly nine thirty
visit here on Sports Talk seven ninety Dane, let me
dive one step deeper into this Joe spot of stuff.
You know, as fans and sometimes in media, when you
go out there and argue with an umpire and optics
or to people on the periphery, not people that are
inside and around it every day like you guys are.
We want to go that comes out there and gives
us the Aaron Boon kicking dirt on the plate, and

(02:25:03):
everybody wants fire, and then when we get too much fire,
we want somebody who's more calm, right, and Joe has
been in press conferences coming off the dugout. Everything he's
done has been I guess the best word is steady.
I gather from what you're saying steady and consistent. So
where's that fine line?

Speaker 7 (02:25:20):
Are you?

Speaker 10 (02:25:20):
Are you?

Speaker 5 (02:25:21):
Do we need more of that fire? Are you so pleased?
And are the players like the fact that even if
you win ten in a row, he's the same as
if when you lose ten in row. How important is
that to kind of keep your emotion in check? You
mentioned it a little bit dive deeper. Do we need
more fire or is this the way you like your manager?

Speaker 10 (02:25:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (02:25:39):
I think you have to be even keeled throughout. I
do think that there are gonna be moments when Joe,
you know, blows a gasket. Right, it's gonna happen, you know,
It's just it hasn't happened.

Speaker 5 (02:25:51):
Yet, but it'll happen.

Speaker 7 (02:25:54):
He's human, It's gonna happen. Right, It's inevitable. Right, It's
definitely inevitable. But I'd rather have a guy that's even
killed and calm and don't put the players on panic. Right,
that's the most important. Keep the guys, keep their pulse.
Understand the winning tradition here and I like that. But
there will be times you will blow a gasket. Hasn't happened,

(02:26:17):
but it's coming. It's inevitable.

Speaker 5 (02:26:18):
We're waiting to see a Bobby Cox moment right, waiting
to see it where like just just because he needs
a day off, so go erupt, but that he's been
as you said, he's been steadied the whole time, even
though the rest of us haven't been. So it's been
a nice and he sure isn't managing a lot of
times like a rookie. Dana Brown aster his GM for
his weekly visit. All right, let's get to Kyle Tucker.

(02:26:39):
First off, When are we going to see him?

Speaker 7 (02:26:43):
So? I think we have a chance of seeing Kyle
Tumper over in the next five days. I think he's
really close. It could be three days, it could be
four days. I think it's definitely within the next five days.
He's right there at the brink of coming back and.

Speaker 5 (02:26:54):
No no minor league. This is he's his first at
bat is going to be with the big club.

Speaker 7 (02:26:59):
Yeah, I mean from what we're talking about, and we're
still discussing, discussing it, I think it's going to be
right and go with the big club. He's getting some
live abs against pitching right now. He's doing his running
of the bases right now. And this is so late
in the season. This is a season professional. He's really
good at his craft. He's a skilled player, he's a

(02:27:21):
player with tools, and so those guys who can run
him back out there, and so I think he's gonna
be fine and hopefully we'll get him in the next
three to five days. He's That's what my uh, that's
what I would say.

Speaker 5 (02:27:33):
It makes it giddy, though you've been waiting for this
a while and it took longer than you expected originally,
which we talked about. But there's got to be almost
like a shot of red Bull where it's like kicking
in that you're getting your starback, which is going to
be great, and how your team's held it down without
him nothing short of fantastic.

Speaker 7 (02:27:49):
Listen, I'm so thrilled to get Kyle Tucker back. You know,
Kyle Tucker is a winning player, and we know what
kind of grind he go through and is at bats.
We know what his power is, what the stolen bases are,
we know that this guy can throw runners out from
right field, the touch balls in the gap. We're fired
up to get Kyle Tucker back, absolutely fired up. So

(02:28:10):
and this is a good time to get him back
to the team held it together, you know, we played
very good baseball without Kyle Tucker. And that's what good
teams do. They step up, they do the dude. And
I remember when I was in Atlanta, we lost Akunya
and we end up winning the World Series because other
guys stepped up and this club really stepped up. The

(02:28:31):
did a big thing by stepping up for this club.

Speaker 5 (02:28:34):
That accountability, elevating your game, and one of your best,
if not your best, all around player gets hurt. All right, Dana,
bear with me on this, because you know you've been
in baseball long enough. We as fans complain and bitch
and want we want to know everything right, and there's
certain things that are reserved for locker room and you guys,
but I do have to ask, Okay, and I'll raise
my hand and say I was one of the first
ones coming from my sport and then watching baseball. He

(02:28:56):
fouls it off, Kyle Tucker gets hurt and the bone bruise,
and after about two or three weeks, I'm sitting here
saying there's no way this is a bone bruise. And
I'm not a doctor. Hell, and you guys got to
protect the player and all that. But as fans wanting
to know everything win along in this process for all
of us in a lot of us and me thought
there's got to be something deeper than a bone bruce.
Three months when did this process did we find out

(02:29:17):
that it was a fracture if it was and not
a bone bruise, And was it early in the process
where along this was the Oh okay, it's deeper than
a bone bruise.

Speaker 7 (02:29:28):
Yeah, let me just kind of put this to bed.
And I'll say this one last time because I really
want to focus in on the six and a half
absolute enough, the Division, the World Series, and all that
other stuff. So Kyle Tucker founds the ball off on
his right shin on June third. It is a deep,
deep bone bruise. And if you take imaging from the front,

(02:29:50):
you see this deep bone bruise, right, that's from the front.
Part of the problem is there was so much swelling
and inflammation that it was very difficult to see what
was happening on the backside of this bone. And it
took so long for the swelling and inflammation to go
away that we saw once it started to go away

(02:30:14):
that there was some healing on the backside of this bone.
And then we suspected that there could have been a
fracture at that point. And so while you know, we
have everybody saying, yes, it's deeper than fract I get it.
He was out for a long time and it was
the deep bone bruise on the front where the ball

(02:30:35):
actually hit, but it seems like something else. We suspect
something else could have been going on on the backside
of that once it started to heal. And so once
it started to heal, we were like, look this healing,
we would have you know, we would suspect that there
was some type of fracture based on the way the
bone was healing, not where the ball hit. Okay, on

(02:30:59):
the opposite sid side of the bone, and that's where
the confusion lies. And so we started to get healing.
Once the you know, the inflammation and all of the
soreness started to go away, we started to see that, look,
there's some evidence in the way this bone is healing
that we could suspect that there could have been a
fraction there. But we kept focused on the front where

(02:31:21):
the ball was hitting the contact, and so, you know,
could there have been a fracture. We suspect that there
could have been a fraction, right, and the time that
he was out would suggest that maybe there was a fraction.
But when the bone starts to heal and you don't
see the fracture, you don't see the fracture. So ultimately, look,

(02:31:42):
we're glad that we're getting Kyle Tucker back. I hope
that explains a lot of what the confusion is. There
was contact on the front of the bone, there was
evidence of maybe we suspected some type of fracture on
the backside, and so ultimately, look, he's through this process.
It didn't change the timeline, right, you know, he was
he was beat it. You know, the bone was beat

(02:32:03):
up pretty bad. And so now that we're getting them
back within the next five days, we're excited about that.
We want to talk more about that, and you know,
we want to kind of put this behind us.

Speaker 5 (02:32:12):
Awesome.

Speaker 7 (02:32:13):
Well, the beauty is we've gone through this storm. We're
six and a half games up, we're trying to win
this division, and we're trying to get deep back into
the postseason so we can get another World Series here
at Houston. And you know, we appreciate all of the
concern of the fans because look, I got to be honest.
The fans here, they're they're into it and a good team.

(02:32:33):
And I understand if you get a if you get
a warrior and that goes down, you want to know
when that warrior is coming back. And we try to
give the best information that we had and so ultimately
he's coming back. Let's put it behind us. Let's all
surge towards this six and a half league. Let's try
to build it and get it a little bit bigger
so that we can go ahead and clench this division

(02:32:54):
and win another World Series.

Speaker 5 (02:32:56):
Thank you for that explanation. I got a few questions
quick wrapping fire, because I know you got stuff to
do as well today. All right, First off, when you
have to make a decision as we focus on winning
this division and getting the postseason, make a decision with
this starting staff that's been great. How much resistance? And
I think it's a good thing. You want players to
want to be in the rotation. Is it tough to
go tell whether it's a Verlander or a Renelle Blanc

(02:33:17):
or whoever it's going to be that we need you
in the bullpen you're not going to be starting in
the postseason. How much resistance do you get from that.

Speaker 7 (02:33:24):
Well, the deal is, we're so far away from, you know,
the postseason. We got to get there first. And so
once we start to get closer, or once we once
we quench, hopefully we quinched this division sooner rather than later.
So once we cuinch the division, then we can start
having conversations about what we're going to do and who's
going to be in the rotation. We know blancos and

(02:33:45):
uncharged territories. As far as starting, we know that jd
is going through another spring training type mode because he's
been out so long for an injury and so, but
we also know, you know, the pedigree of Jade Dave,
how well he throws in the postseason, how good he is,
and we know that we know right now that he's
going through a spring training type period. So we haven't

(02:34:08):
set the rotation yet. We haven't talked about it, but
you know, as we get closer, we'll have those discussions,
and once we clinch, we'll get really locked into those discussions,
and you know, then we'll we'll we'll let you guys know.
But make no mistake, you know, both guys are worthy
of certainly pitching in the postseason and they will pitch

(02:34:29):
at some point. We just have to figure out, you know,
going forward, how we're going to do it. And I
think JV is definitely going to be the old JV.
I just think he's going through this period of time
of spring training. So I'm I'm very you know, I've
always talked to you guys about, you know, the scouting
guy and what I feel and what I see. I
feel like this guy he's still got the stuff. It's

(02:34:51):
just that he's a little bit rosy. He's going through
a spring training period and there's nothing you could say
about the competitiveness and the few to pitch and all that.
Think about it. He walked three the other day. It
was the last time JV walks three in a row
to start a game. Maybe in college, yeah, maybe maybe
in the lower levels.

Speaker 5 (02:35:08):
Of maybe never yeah, maybe never, right.

Speaker 7 (02:35:12):
And so we know that that's an indication that, you know,
he's probably a little rustling. He's gone through some spring
training mode. But make no mistake, I think JV is
gonna be all right.

Speaker 5 (02:35:21):
I got about ninety seconds. I want to get you
off here, Alex Bregman. When will we see him? How
severe is it?

Speaker 7 (02:35:27):
Yeah? I mean Bregman's making progress. Where So to deal
with Bregman is we do not want to rush him
because when he comes back, we want him for the
full So as long as we can keep this lead
and continue to have him work through that soreness in
the elbow, you know, we'll we'll, we'll do it. We
don't want to wait too long because we want to
make sure that he still has his time in and everything.

(02:35:50):
But you know, get let's give it another few, you know,
a few more days, hopefully inside of a week for sure.
But the soreness is down. He's feeling really good. He's
playing catch, you know, he's taking swings and so we
need a completely healthy Breadman bat And so we don't
want to rush this.

Speaker 5 (02:36:09):
It's been well documented what this next guy's been through.
And I'll let you go on this. And you're easy
to root for. When I say the name Forrest Whitley,
what comes your mind.

Speaker 7 (02:36:19):
Yeah, he's grinded. He's grinded through you know, his entire career.
He's bought through some injuries. You know, I saw Force Whitley,
you know, as an amateur. That's when I was running
the amateur department. And so this guy has a good arm.
He's always had a power arm. He's down in the bullpen,

(02:36:40):
and he's probably in an area where he's probably going
to finish his career. But it's good to see that
he's throwing the ball up to ninety eight with good
movement and he's got the good heart breaking ball. And
so I think he showed grit and he grinded through
all of the ups and downs. And then let's hope
that seeing a guy that's gonna be a part of

(02:37:02):
the future here, probably in the bullpen, but maybe a
big bullpen piece.

Speaker 5 (02:37:07):
Awesome. We'll let you go on that. Dana. Good luck
this week and good luck is next two versus Cincinnati,
and we'll talk to you next Wednesday. And let's go
extend that lead. And we appreciate your insight and explanation,
and we'll see you next Wednesday, my man.

Speaker 7 (02:37:19):
Yeah, hopefully by next Wednesday we have a bigger lead,
and let's go Astro fans stay with us.

Speaker 5 (02:37:24):
