Speaker 2 (01:42):
My name is Aiden Michaels. This is the free game
show of Badger women's hockey.
Speaker 7 (01:46):
Just taking a look at last night, the Badgers had
a pretty dominant win against Mercyhurst five to one the score.
It all started off with a redirection in front of
net from Lacey Eden, as Caroline Harvey picked up an assist,
shooting that from the blue line beautifully redirected.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
By Lacy and then the second goal.
Speaker 7 (02:00):
For the first time since returning from the injury, Adela
chapovale Vova scored.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
To make it too.
Speaker 7 (02:06):
Nothing for the Badgers. She had that injury a few
weeks ago. She got back on the score sheet yesterday.
Lazy Eden then scored a power play goal, but then
it was disallowed only for twenty seconds later verd to
score once again make.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
It three nothing.
Speaker 7 (02:20):
Kelly Gorbtenko got her eleventh goal of the season to
make it four nothing. Now Kelly Gorbatenko is just one
goal away from the team lead. Lacey Eden and Cassie
Hall both with twelve, Kelly got up to eleven yesterday.
Kirsten Simms on the power play made it five to nothing,
and then the Badgers had sixty one shots yesterday, a
season high for the Badgers this season. The goaltender for
(02:43):
Mercyhurs Magdalena Lougan. It was a career high fifty six saves.
She had quite the job to do yesterday, but the
Badgers were absolutely peppering her. They also won seventy percent
of the faceoffs too. They were amazing in the faceoff
dot against Mercy Hurts and it created quite a few
chances for the Badgers. Big story in goal, Chloe Baker
made her first appearance of the season to start.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
The third period after Avan McNaughton played.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
The first two and kept that shut out for her.
It was great to see.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Chloe out there.
Speaker 7 (03:11):
More on the goaltender situation in a moment too, when.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
We come back from break and take a look at
the starting lineups.
Speaker 7 (03:16):
Caroline Harvey had three assists last night. She became the
all time point leader among Wisconsin Badger defenders. Lacey Eden
also had four points last night, two goals and two assists.
She's got nine goals in her nine points in her
last three games.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
In fact, that first line combined.
Speaker 7 (03:32):
For eight points yesterday. Looking over at stone Hill, they
lost to Mercyhurst on Friday six to one. They allowed
two goals in the first.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
And then the other four in the third.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
The only goal for stone Hill was summer Comb. She'll
be playing on the fourth line.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
As a right wing today.
Speaker 7 (03:47):
When we come back, we're gonna take a look at
the starting lineups with me and Greeney, So stay tuned.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Michaels here review.
Speaker 7 (05:08):
Just taking a look at the starting lineup before we
head to the national anthem for the Badgers. It's gonna
be that same first line out Kirsten Simms, Lacy Eden,
Adela's Apple Vali bobazz I mentioned all getting on the
store sheet yesterday. That second line is gonna be a
bit different, though the bottom three lines are very different.
Instead of Kelly Govertenko on the left and that second.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Line, it's gonna be Finley McCarthy jumping from.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
The fourth line to the second line.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
It's gonna be up there.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
With Tassie Hall at center and Laila Edwards on the right.
That's gonna be the starting forward lineup for today's game,
going on the third line, Kelly Goverteko moving down to
the third with Maggie Scandal at center, and then Charlotte Pekahagen.
Speaker 7 (05:43):
Out today, Hannah Halverson coming in, and then that fourth line,
it's gonna be Claire and right, Maryann Picard and Mikayla
Zillish slotting in on that right side for Wisconsin. The
extra skater today is Bella.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Vasser who was scratched yesterday. On defense. Same as yesterday,
Caroline Harvey the.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Captain next to Vivian Jungles on that first unit.
Speaker 7 (06:03):
The starting unit for today, that second unit Emma Venusio
on the left side, Lady Potter on the right, Ava
Murphy and Mackenzie Jones the two defenders on that third unit.
And the scratches today Rachel and Nicole gorb Teco and
Grace Bickett for Stonehle stone Hill. Just looking at their
defensive pairing, that first pairing was Sennas Padoon and Sidney
(06:25):
Russell number fourteen.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
She's the captain of this stone Hill team.
Speaker 7 (06:29):
She got a lot of cheers. Now there's mostly Badger
fans in the audience. For the reason why Sidney.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Russell got a lot of teers is because she is
from Nashville. She is from the city.
Speaker 7 (06:38):
She played with the Nashville Junior Predators U nineteen up
until she was a high schooler going into college, so
it's a bit of a homecoming for her to captain
her college team, stone Hill here in her.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Home city of Nashville, Tennessee.
Speaker 7 (06:52):
And then looking at that first line, the starting line
for stone Hill, Gracey Soaka.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
On left wing, Peyton.
Speaker 7 (06:58):
Wise on the right wing, and then the leading store
Matty Octol at center first Son Hill.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
So those are the lineups we're going to start this game.
In just a few minutes. We're gonna take a break
for the national anthem, so stay tuned.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
The guitar trophy is on the line today.
Speaker 6 (08:51):
Yeah, just glad to be here. We'll see how we
come out. Hopefully we'll have a lot of sprain our step.
Oh we've got Riah Stewart in goal, so that's a
new twist. See how she performs today. Got a lot
of faith in hers, so that should be a good contest.
Speaker 7 (09:06):
Making her first career start. I mean we've seen her play.
Of course, he hasn't let up a goal this season.
He seems ready to start, make her first start for
the team.
Speaker 6 (09:13):
Yep, you know's we want to prepare our goaltending crew
for that time when maybe Eva's gone with the Olympic team,
So got to get ready for that.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
That's right.
Speaker 7 (09:24):
We saw Chloe Baker play in the third period yesterday
making her season debut, and now Riya Stewart makes her
first career start in between the pipes with the Wisconsin Baja.
On the other side, Eve Stone starting in goal.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
For stone Hill. She switches off every other game.
Speaker 7 (09:40):
With Alexa Karen. Alexa played in the game against Mercy
Hurst two days ago. They lost six to one. Eve
Stone is hoping for a.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
Better story today.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
But the Badgers with their offense, I mean they had
a season high sixty three shots yesterday.
Speaker 7 (09:53):
They're just pestering them. Yeah, and they're hoping for something
similar today.
Speaker 6 (09:57):
Yep, we're looking for consistency.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
That is right.
Speaker 7 (10:02):
So as I mentioned the starting line for Wisconsin, that
second unit, Finley.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
McCarthy on the left, Layla Edwards on the right.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Cassie Hall at center.
Speaker 7 (10:10):
Layla Edwards played her first game of the season as
a forward yesterday, of course, playing most of the season
on defense, as we assume that's.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
What she's gonna play in the Olympics with Team.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
USA in just a few weeks from now. And Gorbatako
moving down to that third line, reuniting with Maggie Scannal
on that third line is they were on the second
line together with Cassie Hall, so put a mix up
here in the lines.
Speaker 7 (10:33):
Obviously there was a last minute Charlotte Peakinhagen was coreved
out of the line up the last second, so it's
forced coach Johnson to make some changes.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
But we hope Charlotte's okay and we're ready to play
some hockey here in Nashville. Ye end the trip with
a win.
Speaker 6 (10:49):
Yeah, be a nice way to polish up the Sunday afternoon.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
Huh, that's right, absolutely right.
Speaker 7 (10:55):
So here we go, Cassie Hall taking the face off
against Matdi Octill to.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Begin the match year in Nashville.
Speaker 7 (11:04):
Cassie Hall wins the opening draw four Wisconsin and we
are underway.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Harvey gets it up to center ice for Edwards.
Speaker 7 (11:10):
It's Hall getting it back up to Edwards at center
ice and then sent down by Sokker.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
Picked up in the badger zone behind the.
Speaker 7 (11:18):
Net by Caroline Harvey up ahead to Edwards a two
on two. Edwards entering the zone, slides it across the
McCarthy McCarthy shoots.
Speaker 15 (11:25):
Two stores Finley McCarthy and her first goal the season and.
Speaker 6 (11:31):
It comes twenty seconds into the game. Oh wow, what
a beautiful shot from the slot after that pass from
Layla Edwards on the right wing. Just beat the goalie
clean over her blocker side. Just a great shot by
Finley McCarthy.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
It's the first game of the season playing on that
second line for Finley and she makes it count. She
stores on the first shot of the game. Oh.
Speaker 6 (11:56):
I love it, and I you know, and very deserving.
She's been really uh you know, giving a good effort
and I'm glad to see her get her some fruits
for her effort.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
There no kidding.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
She's gotten so close in recent weeks yep for scoring
and she finally gets one.
Speaker 16 (12:10):
Here.
Speaker 7 (12:11):
Here's McKenzie Joan two shoots, it's over the net. She's
looking for her first career goal. The freshman Sims gets
pressed up against the boards in the corner.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
In the Skyhawks zones. Shapovalevova tries to.
Speaker 7 (12:24):
Get it free and she does. Sends it back into
the corner for Sims. Sims spinning away from Sokka. Sims downloaded,
Eating in the corner.
Speaker 6 (12:33):
Here's Sims, but she got it on her forehands. You
couldn't find the shot rolled off her stick. She had
a nice opportunity there.
Speaker 7 (12:40):
Jones sends it toward goal. It goes off the stick
of Shappy. Here's Eating at the point, skating to the middle.
Eden sends that one back behind the net, chasing it
as Sims. Sokka getting there first and Octail gets it
up ahead, but the Skyhawks can't clear the zone. Here's
Murphy on the left side. Murphy toward goal, tipped in front,
wow Ethan kept out by eve Stone.
Speaker 6 (13:02):
Nice job by Eden right there in the crease. You know,
if there was a rebound to be had, she'd have
buried it, but u Stone froze the puck. We're gonna
have a face off to her right, and.
Speaker 7 (13:12):
I think Evestone now knows if she didn't think already
she was gonna have a busy afternoon.
Speaker 6 (13:17):
She'll sleep well tonight.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 7 (13:19):
Based off by the Badgers. Here's Venusia at the point,
throws on toward goal, saved by Stone and then back
handed away by Sokka. Lifted along and chasing it there
and icing the puck in the process is Mattie Bibo.
So we're gonna get a face off back in the
Skyhawk zone with some tired Skyhawks on the ice, and
a first look at this uh this third line with
(13:43):
Hannah Halberson, Maggie Scandal and Kelly Gorbertenko. We know Kelly
and Maggie played on the line together often this season,
but not with Hannah. Right off the draw, picked up
and trying to clear it out his mirrors at center ice,
sends that one back behind the goal.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Stewart is there to collect.
Speaker 7 (14:00):
He leaves it for Potter, passing front, snuffed out by
Maggie Scannal for Wisconsin, He's got it behind her own goal,
Twisting and turning gets it taken away by Palsa pulsa
centering pass nobody there in purple, picked up by Kelly Gorbatenko.
Now for Wisconsin with eighteen minutes to go. Here, just
a couple of minutes gone, the Badgers lead won nothing
thanks to a first shot goal by Finley McCarthy. Picked
(14:24):
up at center ice by Caroline Harvey, dances into the
zone on the right side.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Centering pass finds Gorbatenko.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
It's blocked.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
Second attempt doesn't get a shot. Here's Jungles makes a move.
Speaker 7 (14:34):
Nice defensive play made there by summer Combe, the goal
scorer for stone Hill against Mercyhurst in that six to
one loss. The only goal of the game for the Skyhawks. Well,
here's Picard now entering the zone. Pacard out there with
Zillish and enright Putcard behind the net does centering pass
(14:55):
saved by Stone out in front was Vivian Jungles and
a nice stop from Eves Stone.
Speaker 17 (15:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (15:01):
Great one timer by Jungles just above the left circle
and Stone answered the bell.
Speaker 7 (15:06):
There seventeen seventeen to go. Still those shots on goal
for the Skyhawks. It's been all Wisconsin in the opening
few minutes. Skyhawks win the draw. Here is Sokka.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Behind the net, can't.
Speaker 7 (15:20):
Clear, picked up by Murphy on the left board in
the Skyhawks zone Picard. Jones tries to keep it in,
she can't quite do it, and the Skyhawks get out
with him, but turn it right over to Mariann Picard
who sends it into the zone.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Zillis tries to keep it in, can't quite do it.
Socca loses control. It's picked up by Murphy and the
Badger zone.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
Here is Jones up.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Ahead to Zillish who chops that one down into the
zone and goes for a change and jumping on it
was eve Stone to cover it up.
Speaker 6 (15:52):
Yeah, she's probably gonna get as many whistles as she
can today just to kind of slow down play if
at all possible.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
She'll try her bet. Yeah, this Badger team, and we
say it a lot, but it always seems like they're
on the power play at even strength.
Speaker 6 (16:06):
They're putting a pressure on.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Cassie Hall wins the draw.
Speaker 7 (16:10):
Landy Potter in the middle gets it right back, chops
it down into the corner from McCarthy the goal scorer
around the net for Edwards center and pass again it's
blocked in front.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Rather the shot from Stone.
Speaker 6 (16:23):
Hall Stone just made a great pad save on that.
I don't know how she read that so well.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Quick stop from Stone.
Speaker 6 (16:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (16:29):
Cassie Hall tied for the team leading goals with twelve
with Lacey Eden. Here is Edwards Potter at the right point,
got it across the Venusia who lost it and it's
jumped to the blue line and it couldn't be kept
in by Venusio. Venusio goes all the way back. It's
missed by Potter. Stewart nudges that one back to Lady Potter.
(16:51):
McCarthy at center ice trying to find Hall, can't find her.
Poked for there by Pulsa. Here is Lady Potter in
the badger zone up ahead to Cassie Hall. Cassie Hall
moving in with speed, makes a nice move, Cassie. You
want to stop from Stone.
Speaker 6 (17:07):
Just a great deep by Cassie Hall, and Stone was
patient and kept that leff pad out there extended to
make the save.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
An incredible stop.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
Wow.
Speaker 7 (17:17):
It was Stone, Wow, And like you said, a great
move from Hall. Yeah, I would have been a highlight,
real goal, but Stone steals the highlight away from past.
Speaker 6 (17:25):
That was impressive, it sure was.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
Here is Caroline Harvey now moving on in Caroline Harvey.
Speaker 7 (17:31):
It's blocked in front and cleared away by Mattie Bibo
goes the length of the ice for Chapeau vale Vovo
to pick it up.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Harvey lost it. It's turned over. Here's Comb takes a
shot off the stick of.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
Caroline Harvey and out of play.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
We got a whistle with fifteen oh four to go.
Speaker 6 (17:51):
Well, that was almost their first, you know, attempt at
a shot on goal. I believe it was. But like
you said, defended well by Carolyn Harvey got her stick
on it.
Speaker 7 (17:59):
Yeah, I mean she's the one I made the mistake,
but she corrected it instantly. Yeah, Harvey gets it up
to Sims. Sims up there with Eden entering the zone,
criss crossing with Lacy Eden. Eden centering past just behind
Chapavali Bouva and the zone is cleared.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
It takes a nice bow. Here comes a breakaway now
moving on in his Turcott.
Speaker 6 (18:18):
Missus old man just shoveled that one, yeah, and just
missed the net backhand. It was just wide.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Yeah, what a chance off that breakaway.
Speaker 7 (18:28):
Now here's Harvey the other way for Wisconsin. Harvey, great
pass in front. Harvey almost got it back Tic tac
toe with Chapo Valley Bova.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Here is Murphy denied by Stone, Man kept in by Harvey.
Speaker 7 (18:41):
Caroline Harvey to the middle, takes a shot saved again
by Stone.
Speaker 6 (18:47):
Stone is really seeing the puck well through traffic, and
there was a lot of it in front of her
at that moment. She gloved it clean. I'm gonna face
it off to her right. I believe.
Speaker 7 (18:58):
Seven shots on goal for Wisconsin in the opening six
minutes or so, moving the puck well.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
They really are.
Speaker 7 (19:04):
They're setting up nicely as Scannel wins the draw but
turns it over. Badger's keep the zone for the moment.
Corbeteco in the corner to Scannal. Scannal centering past Halverson
took a shot. It was blocked in front and taken
away by Socca. Now Here comes Peyton Wise at center
Ice dumps that one down, chasing his Jones behind the
Badger net and gets there before Socca.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
Corbotenko up ahead to Scannal.
Speaker 7 (19:28):
Here comes Scannal up to center Ice, moving on in
to the right side, takes the shot saved by Stone
and covered again.
Speaker 6 (19:34):
Nice deceptive release there by Scannal. She used the defenseman
as a screen, and Stone was patient and caught it.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
And we know she's gonna have a busy afternoon Stone, but.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
She's made some pretty good saves already.
Speaker 6 (19:46):
Now the score could easily be quite a you know,
several more goals right now. She's made some big time saves.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Since allowing that goal on the first shot, she's been perfect. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (19:56):
Here's Jones at the right point off the draw into
the corner. Halverson picks it up behind the neck, chasing
it is, Murphy can't keep it in. Here come the
Skyhawks now moving on in the backhander toward goal, save
by Stewart. Turcott picks it up, Murphy has it Alfa
Wisconsin behind her own goal, being pestered there by Geist.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Murphy has it back.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Murphy moving on in gets away from Vidra. Here's how
was on the right side.
Speaker 7 (20:25):
The centering pass took a deflection off of Palsa and
goes into the corner zone, is cleared, goes over the
glass and we'll get a face off.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
We're thirteen o five to go here in the first period.
The time's still gone and lady's letting the REFEREEO see
if they add those seconds back on the clock. Yeah,
nine seconds when I've only added a few.
Speaker 7 (20:51):
But see if it comes down to it at the
end right, the Card gets the puck out to end
right zone is cleared by paulsa Potter at center ice
for Wisconsin loses it in the neutral zone, picked up
by Bibo, who sends it down Venusio to end right in.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
The Badger zone. Potter trying to clear.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
The zone and does chasing it is zillish. It's gonna
trickle down.
Speaker 7 (21:21):
Icing waved off never got to the end, picked up
by Bella Soaka Potter couldn't keep it in, brought down
by Walcom, one of the few.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Forwards on this Stonehill team without a goal this season.
Speaker 7 (21:36):
En Right couldn't clear the zone, picked up by Potter
in the defensive zone. Corner goes cross corner to Venusia,
who gets it out. Here comes put Card with speed,
a one on one chance, looking for some help with
the Badger's change, so she takes a tight angle shot.
Speaker 6 (21:49):
At save by Stone Not a bad IDEA throll the
fuck on that make the goalie field.
Speaker 7 (21:54):
It sent all the way down? Will it reach for Icing, No,
it will not. Harvey to pick it up behind the
Badger net goes the length of the ice took at aflection,
so no icing.
Speaker 6 (22:09):
Got a good four check there. Two of us are
right on the end wall. We come up with it.
Speaker 7 (22:13):
Eleven forty five to go here in the first period,
Badgers lead won nothing picked up by the captain Sydney
Russell and then sent away. Captain for the Badgers picks
it up. Harvey sends that one into the stone Hill
zone and it's turned over. Jungles tried to find Edwards
and center ice, but he was taken there by Reagan.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
Why not.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
What a fun last name that is? Why?
Speaker 6 (22:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (22:36):
Why not?
Speaker 6 (22:38):
Because there is Hall entering the.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Zone on the right side, just offside side. Yeah, with
eleven eighteen.
Speaker 6 (22:46):
To go, well, we're seeing a lot of offensive puncher
by the Badgers and hopefully we can convert on another
one here shortly. But boys, Stone has really answered the bell,
she really has. He's putting together a solid game, has
made some.
Speaker 7 (23:00):
Incredible saves so far. Yeah, eight saves on the first
nine shots. Rias Stewart, on the other hand, hasn't had
much to do but remains perfect. Picked up by Bellasaka,
one of the two Sokkas on stone Hills. She gives
it away behind her own net though the centering.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
Past a stall.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Yeah, Kirsten Simms capitalizes on a stone Hill mistake and
it's two nothing in the first.
Speaker 6 (23:23):
Wow, just a great pass from directly behind the net
from I think Eden. I'm not sure, but boy, she
just buried it. There's no space behind the net, so
if you come up with it there and fingo, it's
right in front of the net. No time, and Sims
made it count.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
It was turned over by Bellasaka behind the net. Eden
jumped on it and I'll tell you Sims is not
gonna miss from there. That's her eleventh.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
You're not the season now.
Speaker 7 (23:52):
It's Cassie Hall and lazy Eden with twelve goals, Kelly
Gorboteco and Kirsten Simms both with eleven as the leading
goals for the Badgers this season. Ten to fifty seven
to go here in the opening period. A tough one
for stone Well, of course has made some good saves,
but that's just a tough one.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
You have Kurston Sims in all alone. She's not gonna miss.
Speaker 6 (24:11):
There's nothing she could do with that. I mean, Sims
was only a foot outside the blue paint. That believe
exactly buried.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
It right off the draw.
Speaker 7 (24:21):
Mackenzie Jones ahead to Chappo volley ba bah. Here's Eden
centering pass again, it comes to Jones, leaves it for Murphy.
Here's Murphy slides it across for Sims.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Couldn't find her. Yep, here's Sims.
Speaker 7 (24:35):
Sims moving on in downloaded Eden centering pass looking for
Sims again and it's saved by.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Stone, turned away eating behind the net.
Speaker 7 (24:43):
They'll wrap around, still loose. It's outside the crease and
maybe back in the crease.
Speaker 6 (24:48):
Now whacking away at it.
Speaker 7 (24:50):
Loose top three, No whistle there, here's Jones at the point.
Now Jones falls down, still makes the play.
Speaker 6 (24:57):
Though, keeps it in the zone for the time being,
sitting on a rear end and the pass into the zone.
Speaker 7 (25:01):
But here come the Skyhawks on a two on one,
taking a shot turned away easily by Stewart.
Speaker 6 (25:06):
Nice stick saved by Stewie.
Speaker 7 (25:09):
Now Sims to Murphy behind the net, and here comes Jones.
Jones stretch past up to Sims, Sims to Halverson. Halgerson
on that left circle takes a shot shot and saved
by eve Stone with nine fifty two to go.
Speaker 6 (25:27):
Good shot by Halvey there on her off wing wide
angle shot. Stone makes the save.
Speaker 7 (25:34):
And now a face off to come to the right
of Eve Stone. Scanneal on the draw for Wisconsin. Parana
walk home on the draw for stone Hill. Shot right
off the draw from Halverson over the net, picked up
in the corner now by Golbertenko. Gilbertanko oud an eleventh
of the season yesterday here in Nashville, Lady Potter fighting
(25:57):
for it there with Scannal.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
It comes free for stone Hill.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
Now move up ahead is summer comb.
Speaker 7 (26:02):
Comb get snuffed out by Venusio taking a tight angle
shot was Turcotte and it was blocked in front by
Landy Potter.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Potter of stretch pass.
Speaker 7 (26:12):
Here comes Gorbatanco get tripped up penalty coming up against
stone Hill.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
Stewart to the bench.
Speaker 7 (26:17):
Yeah, the Badgers will head to the power play as
Kelly Gorbatanko draws a trip.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (26:23):
She she was last sued there and brought down right
just by the blue line to put us on a
power play. I'll take that. See what we can do
with it here Eden.
Speaker 7 (26:34):
Yeah, the Badgers were pretty successful yesterday and the power play.
Two power play goals kirst and Simms and Lacy Eden
lighting the lamp on the player advantage, both of them
out there right now with chapov Bova, Edwards and Harvey.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
Here's Edwards left circle.
Speaker 7 (26:51):
Across the Sims on the right side, SAMs back to
Edwards left circle again, Caroline.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
Harvey up the middle, rips the shot store Lacy Eden
once again. It's deja vu.
Speaker 6 (27:04):
Holy cow, wasn't more than thirteen seconds into that power
play and we buried one there on a redirect by
Lacy Eden on a shot from Harvey.
Speaker 7 (27:13):
I think, yeah, it was the same thing that we
saw yesterdayear you're right, mind, Harvey sending it to the
goal and a great.
Speaker 6 (27:18):
Tip in front Groundhog Day. We've seen it exactly all
over again, right, and now the Badgers.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Lead this game three nothing with nine oh three to
go in the first period. A nightmare start for Stonell,
a dream start for Wisconsin.
Speaker 6 (27:33):
You got that right.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
And now Lacy Eden, with thirteen goals this season, has
the team lead for the first time this year. It
was Cassie Hall for most of the season. Eden has
taken over.
Speaker 7 (27:51):
Here is Jungles and the Badger zone, skating backward, sending
it across the Harvey who got that assist. Scandalm makes
a nice move around Geist, Scanner lost it delayed offside,
Scandal touches up and the whistle will blown.
Speaker 6 (28:05):
Yeah, Scandal just got caught trying to stick candle through
too much traffic there in the neutral zone and they
kind of stripped the pucka from her on that blue line,
causing you off sides.
Speaker 7 (28:15):
And sometimes when you don't go straight in the zone,
it confuses your teammates and they're a little ahead of you.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
Right now.
Speaker 6 (28:20):
You don't want to stick candle around the blue line.
Get it in then you can stick candle.
Speaker 7 (28:24):
Stonehill wins the draw, sent back down behind the net
by Geist. Murphy spinning away has it behind her own
goal stopping up, goes define end Right a bit sloppy.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
Badger's trying to clear and they do. Here's Mackenzie Jones up.
Speaker 7 (28:44):
Ahead to Marianne Picard on the right side. Picard do
Zillish drops it off her en.
Speaker 4 (28:49):
Right score Wow, clear and right gets it from Zillish
and it's for nothing in the first period.
Speaker 6 (28:56):
Just a great goal by end Right on the drop
pass from Zilich Man oh Man. She's a left hander
and she just ripped that hard wrist shot and beat
the goalie clean over her glove. Nice goal by en Right.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Beautiful play.
Speaker 7 (29:13):
Mackenzie Jones started it, got it up to Bacard who
found Michayla Zillish who dropped it off beautifully.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
Man Mclair Enright, great play this season.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
It was a great play.
Speaker 6 (29:24):
Fun to watch that.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
And the Badgers are piling on here. That fourth line
wasn't out for very long. They stay on the ice.
Now here's Zillius again. Does she have some more playmaking
prowess in her? En Right across the Picard Murphy keeps
it in at the left point, battling for it there
with comb.
Speaker 6 (29:44):
Great job by Murphy on the wall to keep it in.
Speaker 7 (29:47):
Chasing it as Zillish as she allows her line mates
to go for Fge keeps it in for the moment,
brings on some new Badgers.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
Seven and a half to go here in the first
period for nothing, Wisconsin.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
Out of tenner, Rice batting.
Speaker 7 (30:02):
Hall goes all the way down to Stuart who finds Edwards.
Edwards at center, Rice dumps that one down in the
opposite corner, chasing it in.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
McCarthy.
Speaker 7 (30:13):
McCarthy chopped that one down, finds Edwards in the corner
again Edwards, and it was tipped in front and out
of play with seven minutes to go in.
Speaker 6 (30:24):
The first she was right there in the little slot.
Good idea, and then a defender got a stick on
it to send it high.
Speaker 7 (30:31):
Five shots on goal for stone Hill, four goals for Wisconsin.
Pretty similar to state line. To what we saw against
mercy Hurst yesterday where the Badgers are keeping the zone
for most of the game.
Speaker 6 (30:44):
What was the outcome of stone Hill and mercy Hurst
six one? Okay, that's what I thought. I wasn't sure.
Speaker 7 (30:51):
So mercy Hurst beat stone Hill six to one and
the Badgers beat mercy Hurst five one. So we're seeing
a bit of that here today between these two teams. Now,
but the getting to an early lead and they already
have four here's Socca.
Speaker 3 (31:05):
Just has to get it out of the zone.
Speaker 7 (31:06):
Hits a patch of snow, so it stays in for
the moment, and Hall keeps it in on a clearing attempt.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
A third clearing attemt from Stonehill. This time it works out.
Speaker 7 (31:16):
This one gets by the s gate of soccer and
picked up by Potter in the Badger zone. Now Cassie
Hall into the skyhawk zone. McCarthy stops up at the
right circle, finds Cassie Hall into the corner.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
The centering pass to Edwards. Kinky corral it Potter, Wax
did it.
Speaker 6 (31:31):
It's blocked in front, laying there for a few seconds.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
It was up for grabs. Yeah, anybody there, yep.
Speaker 7 (31:40):
Landy Potter picks it up in the badger zone, spins
away from Slocum, gets it up to Sims. Took a
touch so no icing. Barrett behind the net, tries to clear,
can't do it. Centering pass from Eden picked up by
Bella soaka and clearing it out for a stone Hill.
But you know they're not getting the ice crew out
(32:01):
in these games, so there's a lot of snow on
the ice.
Speaker 6 (32:04):
Stop in that puck you're right from, moving right along
the wall the base of it.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Yeah, here's Harvey at the right point.
Speaker 7 (32:11):
Harvey makes an ice move on the right side, rips
the shot go up, saved by stone Man.
Speaker 6 (32:16):
I like to see the opportunities she can create. You know,
she'll take nothing and make it into something. Doesn't need
much space all that skill. Nice shot on goal by
KK Harvey.
Speaker 3 (32:27):
Five and a half to go here in the opening frame.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
In the Smashville Showcase, Badgers win the draw.
Speaker 7 (32:33):
Harvey gets it on the right side, gets it to
Eden along the boards, being pressed up against the boards
by Russell. They're to help is Chapeau, Valey Bova fuck
comes free and picked up by stone Hill and then
clearing the zone is Foene Phoene at center Ice lost
it for a moment. Sims with pressure gets over the
(32:56):
stick of Eden, picked up by Geist, who sends that
one back behind the Badger goal.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
Stewart leaves it for Jungles.
Speaker 7 (33:03):
Jungles long stretch pass snuffed out by Why not it's
brought back in here? Shoppa Volvova save the rebound in
an open days How does it not find the back
of the net?
Speaker 2 (33:14):
Vivian Jungles had an open it but couldn't corral it.
Speaker 6 (33:17):
Original save made there off to the goaltender's right, and
the puck was just laying there like a basketball. Nobody
could push it in.
Speaker 7 (33:26):
Unbelievable and you could see the visible frustration from Vivian
Jungles asking yourself, how did she not put that in the.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
Back of the net.
Speaker 6 (33:32):
But I gotta beary that one exactly. But then she'll
look at the scoreboard and feel.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
A little bit more comfortable with that. I yeah, but regardless.
Speaker 7 (33:42):
Here's Mackenzie Jones picking it up in the Badger zone,
skating behind the net, being pressured by Geist, heavy pressure
from Stonehill here, which results in now a three on
two four Wisconsin the other way, Halverson say, Kelly Gorbtenko
missus the netde picked up in the corner by Murphy,
and then why Not tries to clear the zone but
(34:02):
can't quite do it. Halverson picks it up in the
right corner for the Badgers. Halverson, spinning away from why Not,
Jones tries to find Scannal. It goes all the way
back behind the net and passed Orbitenko centering pass tipped
in front by Scannal and gloved by Stone with four
minutes to go here in the first period and a
Badger for nothing lead. And they had this four nothing
(34:25):
lead just over the halfway mark of the first period.
Speaker 6 (34:28):
Yeah, see if we can pop another one in here
at least over the next four minutes of the period.
Speaker 7 (34:33):
They had their one goal away from matching the goal
total they had in yesterday's game. Right off the draws
head right and saved by Stone rebound trickles into the corner,
four players going at it. As the puck is frozen
along the boards, it comes free for Zillis behind the net.
Speaker 6 (34:51):
Zillius gave it away to soccer center, passed to other team.
Speaker 7 (34:57):
Gracy Saka dumps that one down Stewart down which he
makes the play behind the net, losing her stick. Is
Picard here is Octil sends it around the net. Zilla's
trying to chop it out of the zone.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
Can't do it just yet.
Speaker 7 (35:12):
Now it comes free, still in the Badger zone. Octil
in the corner lost it out to Zillish.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
And the Badgers clear the zone. Here comes and right.
Speaker 7 (35:22):
And the card is a foot and a half off side,
and we get a whistle with three.
Speaker 6 (35:26):
Seventeen to go. Here in the first period, and that
first unit coming back on well like like what I'm
seeing today or not, you know, And they're not falling
into bad habits or anything. They're moving the puck quickly.
I like our breakouts better than yesterday, you know, quicker
transition getting up and out of the zone.
Speaker 7 (35:44):
Stonehill wins the draw, picked right back up by Wisconsin though.
Here's Harvey at center ice taking it in herself, goes
across to Edwards, long stretch pass looking for McCarthy, got buyer,
kept in by the Badgers though, haul over to Harvey.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
The stone Hill bench were screaming for a penalty. They
didn't get one. Meanwhile, here's Hall a shot saved by
Stone point blank, lift it up, but not out by
stone Hill.
Speaker 7 (36:08):
They'll try again and this time they can get it
out at center ice is slocum. Here comes Edwards, though,
Badger's trying to get right back in the zone.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
Here with two forty to go.
Speaker 7 (36:19):
Caroline Harvey, twisting and turning, enters the zone on the
left side, sends that one back behind the goal, rims
around to Edwards in the corner. Edwards gets it to
the point to Jungles, has a lane, takes a shot,
no tip in front, so an easy glove stop.
Speaker 6 (36:36):
For Stone nice rist shot from the point though by Jungles.
I'll take that, get it one that might as well.
You got all that space, yeah, shoot the buck clear path.
You know, she coughs one up. You got a rebound
to work.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
With exactly, so a face off to the left of
Eves Stone shopov le Vova on the draw and she
wins it gets it the Sims on her knees to
make that play to get it to Eden in the corner,
gets it free for Sims once more at the point.
Now is Murphy.
Speaker 7 (37:06):
Murphy rips a shot, It's blocked by feet ye brought
down by a high stick by Ava Murphy.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
So we get a.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
Whistle with two twelve to go and a face off
to come outside the sky Hawk zone.
Speaker 6 (37:19):
Well, this period's clipping along pretty quickly here, no kidding,
only two minutes twelve seconds to go.
Speaker 7 (37:29):
This has been about a twenty five minute period. Yeah,
and we're almost at the end of it here. Shappie
wins the drag, gets it to Murphy, who dumps that
one down behind the net. Chasing it is Eden trying
to clear his saka. She whiffed on the clearing attempt,
gets it right back, then turns it over to Murphy.
Sims behind the net. Sims goes to the corner, skates
(37:51):
to the point, gets it to Murphy. Now on that
left side, Murphy to the point. Find chapavalle Bova. Now
here's Murphy.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
Find a lane entering the zone and up the middle.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
It's a good saved by Stone.
Speaker 6 (38:04):
Yeah, good pad save.
Speaker 7 (38:07):
Murphy just found an open lane up the middle and
decided to take it. Yep, put one on net there,
chapeau Volvova gets it to eat in its center ice,
Sokka stepping in front.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
They're battling for it there at the red line along
the boards. Comes free for Sims.
Speaker 7 (38:24):
Now Jones gets it as it comes free for Wisconsin,
and here comes Landy Potter up ahead to chapeau Volvova
who lost it. Picked up by Potter though Potter behind
that at the centering pass, Simms just missed.
Speaker 6 (38:36):
Yep.
Speaker 7 (38:37):
Some good pressure from Landy Potter to get the puck back.
Here is Eden goes behind the net chasing his Sims.
Speaker 6 (38:47):
Final minute of play here in the first period, no
one goes the length of the ice.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
Stewart is gonna hang on to it and we're gonna
whistle on a.
Speaker 7 (38:55):
Face up to come to the right of Riyah Stewart
with fifty two seconds to go in a Badger four
nothing lead here in Nashville.
Speaker 6 (39:06):
Yeah, Riah wisely covered that up. We'll get a face
off here.
Speaker 7 (39:10):
Reorganized Scannal and Octil to take the draw for their
respective teams in the badger zone. Scannell wins it cleanly
to Lady Potter, sends that one along to Halverson, back
to Potter, and right back to Halverson. A three on
two for Wisconsin. Halverson, Scannal and Gorbatenko. Here's scandal Halverson Gorbatenko.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
Miss is the net.
Speaker 6 (39:33):
Good passing there.
Speaker 2 (39:35):
Meanwhile, I counterattacks fir stone Hill Here is sokka. Socca
takes a shot blocker away by Stuart, centering pass doesn't
get through. A shot from the point to opd up
by Rayah Stuart with twenty four seconds to go.
Speaker 6 (39:48):
Well, Riah, good thing she's stayed alert down here. Nice
blocker save and then she four seconds later makes a
nice glove save.
Speaker 7 (39:57):
So we'll get another face off in the Badger zone.
With twenty four point eight to Togo in the opening period, Badger's.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
Lead for nothing.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
Picard and Palsa on the draw.
Speaker 7 (40:09):
Marian Picard wins it yep and gets it to Harvey,
who sends that one out falls.
Speaker 2 (40:15):
Here comes Claire Enright save Stone boy.
Speaker 6 (40:20):
It was just fire enough all that Stone knew she
couldn't get out there and beat end Right to the puck.
So Enright gets a one on oer shot on net
and Stone makes the save to end up with a
face off to her right.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
A great balance. Yeah for claire En right, I.
Speaker 6 (40:33):
Was always hoping she could bury that one. The good
way to end the period, right, yep.
Speaker 7 (40:38):
Fifteen point seven ago. Now the Badgers will have a
face off in the Skyhawks zone. Picard wins the draw,
penalty coming up. Badgers touch up, and there's gonna be
a split power play. If the Skyhawks can't.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
Score in the final ten seconds, it'll.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
Be Mikayla's Zillish. Oh boy, going to the box.
Speaker 6 (40:59):
Don't need to have any penalties today, no.
Speaker 7 (41:01):
So as Sarah Delaney, the official announces, there is an
interference interference by Zilla shown yep, going against Zillish. So
the Badgers will in all likelihood and this period shorthanded.
Just ten seconds left in the period.
Speaker 2 (41:18):
If the Badgers can win the draw and clear the zone,
that would do it. And they do win the draw
and Harvey will clear the zone, it's a two on one.
Speaker 7 (41:25):
If they can hurry five seconds left, here's end right
and right moving in. Just miss her right at the
buzzer and a collision right at the end. That's gonna
do it for period number one. And there's some trash
talking there for Marion vCard. But thankfully the period end,
so they're gonna stop that before it gets out of hand.
(41:46):
But what a chance Harvey with a clearing attent. It
turns into a two on one.
Speaker 6 (41:50):
Yeah, I thought we were gonna get a shot there
and little wide down there we go.
Speaker 2 (41:54):
So that was the only chance of that power plays
so far.
Speaker 7 (41:56):
When we come back a minute fifty on the Zillish penalty,
we're gonna take a quick break when we come back.
The intermission report presented by Fields Madison here on ten
to seventy of the game.
Speaker 2 (42:06):
Don't go anywhere. Padger's lead four nothing after one. Cassie
Hall wins the opening draft four Wisconsin and we are underway.
Speaker 7 (42:16):
Harvey gets it up to center ice for Edwards. It's
all getting it back up to.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
Edwards at center ice and then sent down by soccer.
Edwards entering the zone, slides it across the McCarthy McCarthy
shoots two stores Bindley McCarthy and her first goal the season.
Speaker 6 (42:33):
And it comes twenty seconds into the game.
Speaker 7 (42:36):
Picked up by Belasaka, one of the two soccas on
stone Hill.
Speaker 2 (42:40):
She gives it away behind her own net, though the
centering past a Scar Kirsten Simms capitalizes on a stone
Hill mistake and it's two nothing in the first left
circle again, Caroline Harvey up the middle rips a shot
front by Eden Ay Scar Lacy Eden once again, it's
deja vu.
Speaker 6 (43:00):
Wasn't more than thirteen seconds into that power play and
we buried one there on a redirect by Lacey Eden
on a shot from Harvey.
Speaker 4 (43:08):
The car just Zillish dropped it off for and right
store Wow Claire and Right gets it from Zillish and
it's for nothing.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
In the first period.

Welcome back to Wisconsin Women's hockey, presented by oh Park Plays.
Speaker 7 (46:26):
And welcome to the intermission report, brought to you by
Fields Madison, your premiere luxury auto group, serving customers since
nineteen seventy one. After one period here in Nashville, the
Badgers lead for nothing, twenty three shots on goal in
the first period.
Speaker 2 (46:42):
They're on pace to have.
Speaker 7 (46:43):
More shots than they did last game and it was
their season high end shots.
Speaker 2 (46:48):
And joining us now is the sid for Badger women hockey.
Speaker 7 (46:52):
Mister Jake Ross. You've heard them before, Jake, Welcome back.
Thank you in Hi doing I'm doing great, fantastic. Well,
we're here in Nashville. How's the trip been for you
so far?
Speaker 22 (47:02):
This trip has been pretty good.
Speaker 23 (47:04):
I think of all the road trips we've done on
so far, Nashville definitely has a lot of life to
it and it's been super fun with a lot of
great time spent with the team and lots of activities
going around and some great hockey on the ice as well.
Speaker 2 (47:17):
Yeah, and certainly obviously we just came from Saint Cloud.
Speaker 7 (47:20):
It's a little bit better here than it is saying
Schennectady or Saint Cloud as far as a weekend trip
goes pretty fun either way. But yeah, being in Nashville's
pretty cool. We went to a Predators game last week.
Speaker 22 (47:30):
Did watch watch them take on the Jets.
Speaker 23 (47:34):
Lots of good hockey names out there, Stephen Samcos, Ryan O'Reilly,
Jonathan Taves, you know, some some all time greats that
you know you get to cross off your bucket list
of getting to see.
Speaker 2 (47:45):
Yeah, it was a weird one.
Speaker 7 (47:46):
I was thinking if you would have told me ten
years ago you're watching a hockey game with Steven Stamcos
against Jonathan Taves, you'd be thinking. It's like a Stanley
Cup final game between the Lightning and the Blackhawks. You know,
it's just some relegation battle between the worst team in
the league, National break and almost worst Winnipeg kids.
Speaker 22 (48:02):
Just the Central Division matchup, exactly.
Speaker 7 (48:04):
Just the Central I didn't realize the Predators were very
bottom of the league, but they were still some good hockey.
It's a great arena obviously when their team is doing well,
that arena's bumping.
Speaker 2 (48:14):
But it was pretty empty when we went.
Speaker 22 (48:16):
But uh, yeah, I thought the atmosphere was pretty good
for all that.
Speaker 23 (48:21):
Even they were down three nothing pretty early on, but
I still feel like the fans were in at least
the fans next to us were definitely cheering on throwing
in some heckles there, but uh, you know, that's hockey
and you love it.
Speaker 7 (48:33):
It was pretty great to see, and they almost mounted
a comeback to Predators, but they were not able to
do it. And now we're heading back to Madison later tonight.
Later this afternoon. We just missed the storm, which is good.
I know the men's basketball team were stuck in San Diego,
which isn't the worst place to be stuck in. I
guess it could be worse, but yeah, there was a
big storm. I'm just glad that we missed it. I
(48:53):
wasn't expecting Nashville to be this cold, though, so I didn't.
Speaker 2 (48:55):
Bring any warm clothes. I mean, you you probably realized
that it was going to be cold. Packed accordingly.
Speaker 22 (49:01):
Well, I came straight to the team playing.
Speaker 23 (49:04):
I came straight from my parents' house and Thanksgiving and
I was still in Wisconsin, so I still had all
my all my winter clothes with me and plenty of sweatshirts,
so I was ready. But it was mostly by luck
if anything, that makes sense.
Speaker 7 (49:17):
So just talking about this game, obviously a lot of
lines changed up. Obviously, Charlotte peekinhog and not in the
lineup today, Finley McCarthy moving up to the second line.
She scores her first goal of the season on her
first shot of the game, on the first shot of
the game, just.
Speaker 2 (49:30):
A few seconds into the game. I mean, what did
you see from that line, especially with McCarthy up there
on the second.
Speaker 23 (49:36):
Yeah, the Cassie typically we see that second line Kelly Gorbertenko,
Cassie Hall and Maggie Scannal. They've been running that pretty
much all years and they've been amazing. So anytime you
look at a change like that, you're just kind of like, oh,
you know, like is it you know, good to break
up a line. But you know, our coaches clearly know
what they're doing because you can. And that's you know,
(49:58):
the kind of mentality they're trying to force on anyone
is you know, next step up, Let anyone play with
each other. You know, just take your opportunities and play
your role as best you can. And you know, for
Finley that she's had so many close calls this entire
year with getting that first goal, and it's just so
nice seeing her get that just right away starting the game,
(50:19):
and I think her first start of the season on
ice too, So you know, to be out there getting
your name called out and then capitalizing right away, that's
that's really special.
Speaker 2 (50:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (50:29):
And for the first time this season, the Badgers in
a two game series if you call this a series
or tournament, have used all three of their goaltenders. Obviously,
we saw Avian mcnatton get the start yesterday, played two periods,
and then Chloe Baker making her season debut to start
the third period. But Ryan Stewart making her first career start.
I mean, she didn't have much to do. She only
had eight shots face and didn't have to make any
(50:49):
crazy says. But just what have you seen from her
as far as making her first start as a Wisconsin Badger.
Speaker 23 (50:55):
Yeah, Riya is someone we've seen glimpses of her in
previous games, and every time she's come she's she's done great.
She's always you know, she's probably gotten about ten minutes
or so in the previous games that she's played, but
she always seems to make like three or four saves
in each one. And it was no different over here.
She was you know, confident getting out of the net
and grabbing the pucks and communicating to her teammates and
(51:17):
you know, letting them know when you know the penalty
kill was ending, and you know, coming up with some
big saves, a few of them in transition coming down,
which are really tough and especially nerve racking when it's
your first start.
Speaker 22 (51:30):
So I thought she did great.
Speaker 2 (51:32):
And how about the traveling squad here?
Speaker 7 (51:34):
Not only are there most I would say most of
the fans here, if not all of them are Badger fans,
but a lot of familiar faces that we've seen even
at lebon Arena.
Speaker 2 (51:43):
Here in the crowd, I mean, how great. I mean,
obviously we're not players, but just.
Speaker 7 (51:46):
For these women to come out and play hockey in Nashville,
pretty far from home, but play in front of a
sea of.
Speaker 2 (51:53):
Red like it is at Lebarn.
Speaker 23 (51:54):
Yeah, well, even though we're not players, it's still always
more fun to watch any game when there is a
big crowd, you know, cheering on one of the teams.
Speaker 22 (52:03):
And it's great that it's Wisconsin.
Speaker 23 (52:05):
And honestly, it's something that I can't say I'm too
surprised about because I've been on you know, the other
road trips, and it doesn't matter if it's Schenectaty, you know,
New York or Madison, Wisconsin. They're always there and it's
you know, it's a mix. Some of them are parents,
some of them are family, but some of them are
just fans who like to travel and like to see
the team.
Speaker 22 (52:24):
And why not.
Speaker 23 (52:25):
You know, you can come down to Nashville and make
a weekend out of it, and you know, you get
see your favorite hockey team win some games.
Speaker 7 (52:32):
I mean, it's not a bad place to spend your
weekend going Broadway and see some music.
Speaker 2 (52:37):
I know there were some karaoke involved. I'm not going
to get too much into that unless you want to, Jake.
Speaker 22 (52:42):
I mean, oh, I don't think there's a whole lot
to say.
Speaker 23 (52:46):
I made a little team karaoke appearance during one of
our team karaoke singing a little Taylor Swift. People seem
to enjoy it, which I appreciated. But I don't want
to take away from some of the other great performances
as we saw over there. Charlotte Peakin Hoggin did a
great Katie Perry solo song, Grace Picken Ava Murphy had
(53:10):
a great duet going on a shallow I think that
was my personal favorite performance of the night. So yeah,
it was always fun just getting the team loose and
making sure that they have fun on you know, these
long trips and they play so much hockey, especially in
this little stretch here, you know, just giving them a
little little moments of levity like that, it's means a lot.
Speaker 6 (53:32):
So when was the last time you performed that song
in karaoke? I mean, that's your go through song, but
how often do you do karaoke?
Speaker 23 (53:38):
I don't think I try it. When I do karaoke,
I try not to have a go to song. I
want to like switch it up every time. Otherwise it
was boring for me.
Speaker 6 (53:45):
You know.
Speaker 23 (53:45):
Yeah, I had saying that song one time before back
on State Street at home, so I was a little
familiar with it. I was feeling the pressure a little bit,
so I wanted to choose something I was comfortable with.
Speaker 22 (54:00):
So I decided to go with that.
Speaker 23 (54:01):
And then Taylor Swift is a team favorite as well,
so fair enough can't go wrong.
Speaker 7 (54:07):
And it wasn't necessarily it wasn't a spontaneous activity. We
knew we were gonna be doing karaoke. My question to
you is when did you know that you were going
to be doing karaoke.
Speaker 23 (54:15):
I feel bad for all the fans tuning in for
their Wisconsin women's hockey coverage, But I had a sitting
next to Mark Johnson, our head coach there that entire time,
and he had kind of been egging me on and
questioned me about it throughout the entire thing, and I
could tell.
Speaker 22 (54:32):
Eventually I was like, Oh, he's gonna make me sing.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
All right.
Speaker 23 (54:35):
Well, you know when Mark Johnson caused your name, just
like here's Sims scoring the penalty shot to tight in
the National Championship last year, he asked who wants it?
And I was the one who wanted it for karaoke.
Speaker 7 (54:49):
So, I mean the pressure is kind of the same,
you know, stepping up in the National Championship game, stepping
up in Nashville.
Speaker 2 (54:55):
Doing some karaoke.
Speaker 23 (54:56):
I can't imagine Sims felt the pressure I was facing there.
She's cool, calm and collected. She's been in those moments before.
This was this was a whole new ball.
Speaker 22 (55:04):
Game for me.
Speaker 2 (55:05):
Yeah, I get it.
Speaker 7 (55:06):
And speaking of that first line with Kirsten Simms, they
got eight points, combined yesterday, they haven't stopped up today.
Speaker 2 (55:13):
Lacey Eaton as well, now leading the team and goals.
Just how dominant has that first line been now that
everyone's healthy again.
Speaker 3 (55:18):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (55:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 23 (55:20):
And it's also, uh, that's something also too with Leila
Edwards coming back. She's one of those dominant players we've
seen in the past, now back with the forwards. But yeah,
that top line, Adela, she's been stepping up at center
and really from day one, Uh, just electric passing and
you know, great chemistry between Sims eating and Adela h Eden.
(55:43):
At this point, she's up to what eleven points in
her last four games and counting from there, she is
one point away from two hundred points to reaching that milestone,
something that her line may Kirson Simms hit earlier this
year at Saint Cloud's. So lots of big, not even
great Badger players now playing with each other, but some
(56:03):
of the all time best Badgers ever playing each other
and sharing minds.
Speaker 3 (56:07):
Yeah, absolutely so. Guys.
Speaker 7 (56:08):
If you ever hear me on the air mentioned some
obscure stats, just know that it's more often than not
coming from Jake.
Speaker 2 (56:14):
He gives me all the great stats. He spends the
time to make all the game notes.
Speaker 7 (56:18):
And he also helps every single announcer in the world
by giving us the pronunciation for a Della's name, because
it is.
Speaker 2 (56:23):
The hardest thing, probably in the world.
Speaker 7 (56:25):
It is a bit of a tongue twister, But thanks
to mister Jake for making our jobs easier. And you've
got obviously one of the most difficult jobs. Just before
we go to break here, I want to talk a
little bit about your job and sort of for the
people that don't know at.
Speaker 2 (56:37):
Home what you do behind the scenes.
Speaker 23 (56:39):
Yeah, so I'm what's known as a sports information director
and the college athletics scene, at least they're kind of
I would say there's like four main phases to the job.
One of them is kind of you know, rosters and
pronunciations and stats and getting all those sorted. One of
them is social media, so managing social media accounts. In turn,
(57:00):
Lily is really great at that and is much better
than me at all that, so I'll think I'm very
thankful that she's on my team.
Speaker 2 (57:08):
And then.
Speaker 23 (57:10):
Yeah, like historical archives, putting out press releases, handling media interviews, requests,
you know, anything about pushing information somewhere, whether it be
social media, broadcasters media to the public that that's usually
something that goes through me when it comes to Wisconsin
women's hockey.
Speaker 2 (57:30):
Well, there you go.
Speaker 7 (57:31):
Put did the work for all of us behind the
scenes in this Badger Word Hockey program. We're gonna take

Welcome back to Wisconsin Women's hockey, presented by All Park Plays.
Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
Just in time for period number two.
Speaker 7 (01:00:31):
As we dropped the puck here at the Ford Ice
Center in Nashville, Tennessee, Aiden Michael's.
Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
Mark Greenhall here with you, we are officially underway.
Speaker 7 (01:00:38):
Ye in the second period, Badger's lead for nothing after
quite the dominant first period. Now Here is Phoene entering
the zone, gets taken down by Harvey, picked right back
up by Phoene, and well it looks like they started
a bit early. Then we just got the horn go
off here and I think they had the timer go
down for the intermission.
Speaker 2 (01:00:58):
They didn't reset the clock, so don't.
Speaker 6 (01:01:01):
Have quite the synchronization we need with the timekeeper and
the game.
Speaker 7 (01:01:05):
Actually not quite so Stonehell are hoping to win this
draw because they had possession in the Badger zone, which
is well, it was quite rare in the first period.
Speaker 6 (01:01:14):
Well I noticed this. Yeah, we started with a minute
fifty on the penalty and it's still reached that after
time has elapsed here because play has been under way
for a little while.
Speaker 7 (01:01:23):
So I guess they're going to I can't imagine they're
going to start over the period.
Speaker 6 (01:01:28):
No estimate there how much time you lapse exactly?
Speaker 2 (01:01:34):
They're taking off twenty seconds. So then they got to
fix the penalty. I know Mikayla's going to be looking
up at the board too, being like, hey, make sure
you get.
Speaker 7 (01:01:41):
Right my penalty time right too, And there they have it,
so minu and a half to go on the Zillish penalty,
nineteen forty to go here in the second period, Badgers
win the draw and they clear the zone and Right
gets it up ahead, picking it up as Sidney Russell,
the captain from Nashville, Tennessee. Stone Hill slow Comb gets
(01:02:03):
it up ahead to Palsa and slow Com picks it
up just outside the Badger zone. Russell gets it across
to why not now Here's Geist turns it over just
under the stick of Picard and then the zone is cleared.
Here comes and right has Picard to her left, but
a card is just a fit off side.
Speaker 2 (01:02:22):
Yep.
Speaker 7 (01:02:23):
A minute gone here in this second period. A minute
to go in the Zillish penalty. Biggest chance of the
power players when we saw it just at the end
of the first period.
Speaker 6 (01:02:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:02:33):
We then right having another chance, but a good save
by stone who remains in net.
Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
McCarthy and Octil on the draw.
Speaker 7 (01:02:45):
Here's Sock on the right side for stone Hill sends
that one toward goal and turned away by Stuart, picked
up by Edwards who clears the zone. McCarthy, Edwards, Jones
and Murphy the four for Wisconsin on this penalty. Kill
Bellasaka up to spaedone brought down by Edwards in.
Speaker 2 (01:03:09):
The Stonehill zone.
Speaker 7 (01:03:10):
Edwards looking for McCarthy across it was blocked and Edwards
gets it again, sends it back around the goal, McCarthy
fighting for in the corner, trying to kill the rest
of this penalty off. Twenty seconds remaining in the Zillish
interference call that was taken in late in the first period.
Cleared again, Badgers go for a change. Final ten seconds
(01:03:31):
of the penalty spaedone to center Ice just skips by
Combe and now here's Kirstin Simms on the right side
off side is the call.
Speaker 6 (01:03:42):
Eden preceded Sims just barely, but it was enough to
be in offsides.
Speaker 7 (01:03:47):
Under two minutes gone here, Just one second remains before
Zilish can come out of the box and we'll get
a face off outside the Badger zone. Badgers win the
draw out of the box and to the bench goes
Mikayla Zilli. Is a successful penalty kill for Wisconsin. To
(01:04:08):
start off the second period. Here's Simms from the blue line,
goes to Venusio, who enters the zone left side. Venusio
padsa rebound is loose for Sims, still loose, and finally
Stone covers it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
Up a couple of whacks from Sims was not able
to get.
Speaker 6 (01:04:26):
It through, yep, right there on the doorstep. He was
sitting there for a while and then eventually Stone covered
it up.
Speaker 7 (01:04:33):
And we're seeing that quite a bit from the defenders.
If it's not if they can't get a tip they're
at least creating rebounds.
Speaker 6 (01:04:38):
He just putting the puck on that, yep. I like that.
A shot on nuts a good play.
Speaker 7 (01:04:42):
And those Stone has been great in this game so far.
She hasn't controlled the puck very well and a lot
of shots, a lot of rebounds have been coming from
initial saves that she's made. Here is Slocum tips it
away from Venusio back behind the Badger goal, Chapovolva.
Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
Sims trying to get it to Eden.
Speaker 3 (01:05:02):
Eden picks it up in her own zone.
Speaker 7 (01:05:03):
Badgers still can't clear the zone kept in by the Skyhawks.
Here's paulse on the right side. Paulsa centering pass does
it again, gets by and patted away by Riah Stewart.
Simms entering the zone on side. Simms drops it back
for Eden. Say made by Stone Man to Shapov to
(01:05:27):
Potter at the right point. Lady Potter to the middle
shoots it's blocked in front. Rebound is loose, picked up
by Simms. Sims skating behind the neck.
Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
Sims no one out in front of her, so she
maintains possession, goes back for Lacy Eden. The centering pass
score Kirsten Simms was all alone. It's back handed it
in for a Badger fifth.
Speaker 6 (01:05:51):
What a beautiful pass from Eden and then just bingle
right over the goalies blocker by Sims. Great, great goal,
A good pass by Eden, Geese, nice puck movement. There
she was it right through the slot.
Speaker 7 (01:06:08):
Yes, Sims and Eden were playing catch back to that,
and then Sims disappeared for a moment, and there she was,
all alone to give the Badgers a five to nothing lead. Ooh,
nice goal four minutes three minutes into this second period.
Speaker 6 (01:06:22):
Nice way to start the period. Kill a penalty off
and then score a goal.
Speaker 3 (01:06:26):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (01:06:26):
Now I like saying this and it never happens, but
we're on Hatrick Watch already. Here wrap around from the boidal,
good save made by Stone. Here's Jungles at the point.
Speaker 6 (01:06:36):
Ripster shot timped off Crossbarteka. Yeah, that was beautiful.
Speaker 7 (01:06:45):
Stone Hill trying to clear the zone that they do.
Here's Harvey, Badgers trying to bring it right back in.
Speaker 2 (01:06:51):
Maggie's scandal makes a move to the backhand, turned away
by Stone.
Speaker 7 (01:06:56):
Rebound was loose Yep, it comes to the point for
Jungles trying to get it free. Is leaning at center.
ICE's Jungles gets it up to Gorbutenko. Gorbtenko entering the
zone left side, Corbetenko drops it off her scandal centering
(01:07:16):
past shovels that.
Speaker 2 (01:07:17):
One to the middle. There yep, and went out.
Speaker 3 (01:07:22):
Into the netting with fifteen fifty six to go here.
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
On the second, you know, the thirty shots.
Speaker 6 (01:07:26):
Excuse me, there's a different rule now where you can
actually score a goal like out of mid air, like
a certain height that normally previously used to be considered
a high stick. Oh wow, And I don't know what
the exact height is, but uh, you know, if if
if Helverson would to knock that one in, I think
it would have counted us to go Wow, what a play.
Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
And right there Mager's score. It's Mikayla Zillish who scores
per first goal of the season.
Speaker 6 (01:07:56):
Wow, and what a beauty right there in the slot.
Beautiful pass, tours you banging home right through the five holes.
Stolen man. Nice goal and they might.
Speaker 7 (01:08:06):
Have a look at it though it was Michaela Zillis
who got the goal, But they don't have a look
and this would be unfortunate as Michaela, who just got
her second point of the season earlier on today.
Speaker 2 (01:08:14):
Yeah, with an assist.
Speaker 6 (01:08:17):
You know, it's it's just good to see these players
that don't get an over overly ton of ice time,
you know, get some ice time and make make Hay
with it. You know they're really getting some.
Speaker 2 (01:08:28):
Oh no, stone Hill just take the time out. So
I don't know. I mean, I'm not sure if they're
still reeling it. Okay, if they are, I mean, that's
the first PA announcement I've heard a bit as far
as reviews go. I'm trying to take quick time out.
I think they are actually just time out at it.
Oh okay, because I mean there was a quick time out.
Speaker 6 (01:08:47):
They're over there on that side. That's what makes me
think they may but center ice. Okay, So which the
goal is going to stand?
Speaker 2 (01:08:54):
Mikayla Zillish gets the goal? Wow?
Speaker 6 (01:08:58):
Do you know who that was assisted from?
Speaker 2 (01:09:00):
I believe it. I want to say it was.
Speaker 3 (01:09:01):
Claire en Wright. I think you're right, Claire Enright getting
your sist a beautiful feed.
Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
Thanks for our producer, Brad first us here.
Speaker 6 (01:09:10):
Keeping us honest here and right gets credit for it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:13):
Here's Enright shoots save made.
Speaker 7 (01:09:17):
It's Mikayla Zillis's first multi point game of her Badger career.
Speaker 6 (01:09:22):
Nice to see.
Speaker 7 (01:09:25):
Stonehill looking for a response. Murphy gets it up to
Picard in the defensive zone built dad by Zillas. Here
comes Bokar looking for her first goal of the season.
Mary and Bicard moving in to the net. The wrap
around Zillis.
Speaker 2 (01:09:44):
Did it go in?
Speaker 6 (01:09:45):
Go pick a goal on a rebound.
Speaker 2 (01:09:47):
Mickayla zilli Ish has done it again, her second goal
in about two minutes. Michayla, have yourself a game, I guess,
and now we are on hat trick watch for McKay man.
Speaker 6 (01:10:01):
And that was from Picard on the.
Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
Arrangeal what assist that was from Marianne Picard.
Speaker 6 (01:10:07):
By the way, you're not kidding. Great effort by her.
You know one thing that Zillich is, you know, you
really see it here where's It's resulting in some points
for her, which is great. But she she's playing smart hockey.
She knows where to go without the puck and as
a result, she's given herself some good opportunities to do
some things with it and she's producing.
Speaker 2 (01:10:26):
You love to see it, Yeah, Kayla zilli is one
of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
Speaker 6 (01:10:30):
She wouldn't hurt a fly if it was down and
not at all nice.
Speaker 2 (01:10:34):
Young lady played two seasons at Bmidgee State coming to Wisconsin,
won a national championship in her first year, and has
a two goal game for the first time in her
badgery career. Three point day.
Speaker 6 (01:10:44):
Awesome.
Speaker 7 (01:10:47):
Potter gets taken down. No call there, Potter got taken down.
Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
Hard there in her own zone.
Speaker 7 (01:10:51):
She's still down, yeah, turned away by Stuart and Potter's
gonna keep cool though and stay.
Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
Out of the box.
Speaker 6 (01:10:59):
Here cool her head prevail exactly.
Speaker 7 (01:11:01):
Here's McCarthy now to Edwards across the hall. Hall still
with it down in front is loose. Nobody could find it.
Here's madone now for stone Hill, touching that one along
is Bibo fighting for in the corner as Hall fourteen
minutes to go. Here, Badger's lead seven to nothing after
(01:11:23):
two quick Michayla's zillish goals here in the third. Now
it's a big chance for Wisconsin. A two on one
haul with Edwards. Here's Cassie Hall save rebound loose, Oh Carthy.
Speaker 2 (01:11:33):
Trying to get it. It's picked up instead by the Skyhawks.
Here's Edwards, great pass a shot.
Speaker 3 (01:11:41):
By Stone.
Speaker 6 (01:11:42):
That was a great play at Harvey I think, sends
it from the right point all the way diagonally across
his own edwards does a spinner ram of backhand pass
right there for a quick shot in the blue paint
by whoever shot that one? Oh nice, ay by Stone,
so beautiful.
Speaker 7 (01:11:58):
Some more highlight reel, go save for Stone today, You're
not kidding. Here's Jones or Jungles rather Sims up the middle.
Sims takes this shot, turned away, Jungles behind the net
in the corner, chasing it. Kirsten Sims get to the Eden,
Eden centering past Jungles turned away.
Speaker 3 (01:12:17):
By Stone again.
Speaker 2 (01:12:19):
What a busy afternoon for Eve Stone.
Speaker 6 (01:12:22):
I like the way players are seeing their teammates open
and getting them the puck.
Speaker 2 (01:12:28):
This is some fun hockey to watch.
Speaker 6 (01:12:30):
Yeah, yeah, if you're a Badger fan.
Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
Yeah, if you're a Paget fan, that's right.
Speaker 6 (01:12:35):
Stonehill a little different story to.
Speaker 7 (01:12:37):
Exactly face off now for the right of Stone, won
by Chap. Here's Harvey at the point. Caroline Harvey, still
with it up the middle, throws it toward goal wide
of the net, picked up by.
Speaker 6 (01:12:51):
Official, went down Sims.
Speaker 7 (01:12:52):
Tripped up Sarah Delaney, the official Sims staying with it
though in the corner.
Speaker 2 (01:12:58):
Sims makes a great move to the Here.
Speaker 15 (01:13:00):
Comes Sims, who stole my goodness, Patrick for Kirsten Simms
in a beautiful goal.
Speaker 6 (01:13:06):
Man that that stick handling was just beyond comprehensive their
I mean, oh my goodness, she just stick handled pass
an octa puss in a broom closet and everybody else
out on the ice sheet and scored un just undressed
a goaltender. Unbelievable goal by Kristin Simms with her magic hands.
Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
Kirsten Sims.
Speaker 6 (01:13:25):
Unbelievable, blight goodness. That was fun to watch, no kidding.
Speaker 2 (01:13:33):
What a way to score a hat trick.
Speaker 7 (01:13:34):
Kirsten Simms, now thirteen goals this season, leads the team
up there with lazy Eden.
Speaker 2 (01:13:42):
Here comes Kelly Grbtenko.
Speaker 7 (01:13:44):
Gorbtenko one on one, makes the move Gorbutenko turned away
by Stone again tasting it is October. Mackenzie Jones picks
it up with the Badger zone Octil back in two
on one tans Now with the Skyhawks. The centering pass
saved by the rebound man.
Speaker 6 (01:14:06):
She had a pee, she had it pretty solid and
it hopped up over her pad and trickled in on
her left side and it's the.
Speaker 2 (01:14:13):
Second goal of the season.
Speaker 7 (01:14:15):
Yeah for Peyton Wise and there goes the shutout bid
for Riah Stewart and Peyton Wise being attacked by her
teammates absolutely mob to the ice. A good moment for
stone Hill getting on the board.
Speaker 3 (01:14:29):
Here we're twelve twenty five to go.
Speaker 2 (01:14:31):
It's eight one.
Speaker 6 (01:14:32):
Well that's what I'm sure Riyah wants to have bath
but she made a good save up and over the
pad though it trickled.
Speaker 7 (01:14:39):
Tough bounce for Riah Stewart, but we go again. Two
quick goals for both teams. Feene and gorbatego getting tied
up so we don't drop the puck just yet. Scannal
taking the draw with ken Moore. Ken Moore wins it
for stone Hill. We're going to add some.
Speaker 2 (01:14:55):
More after they just added their first. Stuart collects it
the net to Murphy. Murphy gets it to Scannal.
Speaker 7 (01:15:05):
Scannal sends that puck over Geist and stays with it,
then gets taken down Stonehill with it again. Jones tries
to clear the zone, can't do it. Murphy picks it
up behind the Badger goal. Twelve minutes to go. Here
in the second period, Grbatenko on side. Gorbatenko gets it
(01:15:25):
down to Scandal. Here's Maggie's Scandal lifts it over the
shoulder of stone but just misses a bit high.
Speaker 2 (01:15:34):
Gorbatenko big hit behind the goal, No call there.
Speaker 6 (01:15:38):
A couple of people went down, but no whistle.
Speaker 7 (01:15:40):
Body's flying. Yeah, here's Jones taking it in. Jones leaves
it off for Picard and just offside with Zillius.
Speaker 3 (01:15:49):
Now we already have one hat trick in the game.
Speaker 7 (01:15:50):
Person, simms man, you've got a whole period and a
half for michayla' Zillis to get a hat trick for HIV.
Speaker 6 (01:15:55):
Wouldn't that be something? If she popped a hat trick in.
Speaker 2 (01:15:58):
Here first well the season, second can and third in
the same game.
Speaker 6 (01:16:01):
How about that would be.
Speaker 2 (01:16:03):
Her first career. Let stop right, Den exactly exactly.
Speaker 7 (01:16:09):
Here's Potter off the draft center Ice lifts that one
back behind the goal, chasing it is end right bell
Osaka getting their first for stone Hill, but en Right
picks her.
Speaker 6 (01:16:17):
Pocket, great four check right and right to Venusio.
Speaker 7 (01:16:21):
Venusio at the left point sends it back behind the
goal for zillish zillish three point day for her. Here's
en Right also has a goal today. Potter keeps it
in and then it's turned over a two to one
one chance now for stone Hill, moving on in centering
past to Wise for a second, but she couldn't put
it home, and now the Badgers will go the other way.
(01:16:45):
But Cards skating into open ice getting their first was
Rustle the captain for stone Hill, and Stewart calmly sets
it off for Venusio behind the neck. Enright touches it
along her line, goes for a chain. Zilla is still
out there to try and give her teammates some time
to get off.
Speaker 2 (01:17:04):
Slick them.
Speaker 7 (01:17:05):
Sends that one down, picked up by Harvey behind the
net ten and a half to go. Here in the
second period, Harvey up to McCarthy. McCarthy has a home
and it just skipped off her stick. Badgers keep the.
Speaker 3 (01:17:18):
Zone though Caroline.
Speaker 7 (01:17:19):
Harvey gets it to Edwards to McCarthy but under her stick, Yeah,
and Jungles will skate out with it back in the
neutral zone.
Speaker 2 (01:17:28):
Here's Harvey taking it right back in. Harvey on the
left side.
Speaker 7 (01:17:31):
Edwards snipes one wow Walker stop from stone Here's Hall
Hall now creates some space. Here comes Hall centering past
a scoring Layla Edwards an easy tap in there after
a great pass from Cassie Hall, and the Badgers have
nine in.
Speaker 6 (01:17:49):
The second man Hall just you know, Deacon past everybody
down the slot, gets right on the gold Mouse, slides
it over to Edwards on the back door to the
goalies left off, and she taps it in for another goal.
I love it. Great play, great play.
Speaker 3 (01:18:06):
Great play.
Speaker 7 (01:18:07):
Indeed, the Badgers are going crazy in this one here.
And they had a ninety two win against Comidgie State
in the first game of the season.
Speaker 3 (01:18:17):
They have not hit double digits just yet this year.
Speaker 2 (01:18:20):
Now they've got a whole period and a half to
do that.
Speaker 7 (01:18:24):
Phoene chasing it into the Badger zone, it goes too
far ahead of hersus. Stuart gets it along to Harvey
who spins away from Phoeni Harvey behind behind the Badgernette
Harvey spinning away once again from Feenie. Long pass up
ahead zone by Eden.
Speaker 3 (01:18:41):
And then covered up by Stone.
Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
Now, I don't know what you do here as a goaltender,
a goaltending coach, do you keep Stone in the game?
Speaker 6 (01:18:51):
No matter what you know that's a very good question.
She's playing well, you know, we've scored a lot of goals,
but I wouldn't necessarily say they're her fault giving up
a few rebounds. I wouldn't be surprised if he gives
another gal a look here, that's a lot of shots
to face for one person in.
Speaker 7 (01:19:06):
It, and so we'll see what happens. Obviously, lots of
time to go here. Nine minutes just in the second
period to go at center. Ice is picked up by Gorbtenko,
then turned over, brought brought back into the badger zone.
Ava Murphy there to collect it for Wisconsin, gives it
away to Geist.
Speaker 2 (01:19:24):
Behind the net.
Speaker 7 (01:19:25):
Murphy battling for it, gets it free from Mackenzie Jones,
who can try and can't do it, though Jones does
clear it this time.
Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
Now here's Gorbatenko on a lot of space, heavy.
Speaker 7 (01:19:35):
Touch from her, so she loses possession, but touched along
the boards by Halberson to get it right back for Wisconsin.
Picked up the other way now by Sakko, who sends
that one down and goes for a change.
Speaker 2 (01:19:48):
Stewart tried to play the puck.
Speaker 7 (01:19:50):
Yeah, so Jones behind the net, but Wift on it,
so she'll just cover that one up.
Speaker 6 (01:19:54):
With eight and a half to go here, they can sure.
There's not much room at all from the end wall
to the goal line, so it hops off there quickly
and you better get it out of there or cover
it like Stuart did there.
Speaker 7 (01:20:08):
Yep, that fourth line back out for Wisconsin. They've produced
three of the nine goals today, Zilish.
Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
With two of them and Right with one.
Speaker 7 (01:20:18):
Now Picard needs a goal to get her first this
season and complete her whole line.
Speaker 6 (01:20:24):
Yeah, I'd love to see her get I can't believe
she doesn't have one, all right, right, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 7 (01:20:28):
She's one of those players. Nah, you would just expect, yep,
have a goal, a lot of assists. But here's Venusio
at the point, picked up by Zillish. Zilis finds a
card behind the net, picked up by En right and
right with it at the right cir goal, spinning away
from Russell Venusia at the point. Venusia moving on in,
takes a shot and sticked away by Stone and out
(01:20:50):
of play with seven fifty.
Speaker 3 (01:20:51):
Five to go in the second.
Speaker 6 (01:20:55):
Yeah, Venusio, she's always hungry for a goal, you know. Yeah,
you can just see it. She's got a nice shot too,
so it's good to see her put it on net.
See if Hall wins the draw.
Speaker 2 (01:21:09):
Here Bella Vassar making her game debut.
Speaker 7 (01:21:15):
Yeah, right now up there with Hall and McCarthy. She
was scratched yesterday, slotting in now for Charlotte Pekinhagen as
that extra skater as Mikayla Zillis moved up to the
fourth line. Whoa board battle there in the corner. Harvey
loses that battle and here come the Badgers. It's McCarthy
up to Cassie Hall. Cassie Hall's driving to the net.
(01:21:38):
Here comes Halty score. Beautiful solo effort from Cassie Hall.
Speaker 8 (01:21:45):
Man.
Speaker 6 (01:21:45):
She gets a pass there from McCarthy and she carries
it down the left wing and it's on her backhand,
comes right across the crease, pulls it to her forehand
and slides it to the five hole for the tenth
goal of the day for the Badgers.
Speaker 7 (01:21:59):
It's a perfect for Wisconsin, the first time this season
they've reached double digits. Cassie Hall getting another goal. It's
her thirteenth of the year. There are now three Badgers
with thirteen. Kristen Simms, Lacey Eden and now Cassie Hall.
Unbelievable stuff here in Nashville. And the Badgers aren't gonna quit,
I'll tell you that. No, they want twenty Well, I
(01:22:22):
don't know about that.
Speaker 6 (01:22:23):
But you know, in a contest like this, you don't
want to you know, especially know when you got Ohio
State next weekend. You just don't want to spend time
on the ice with bad habits. So you want to
play smart and continue to put the pressure on the score.
Speaker 2 (01:22:38):
Centering past Zi Yeah, Patrick, she got it.
Speaker 6 (01:22:42):
Oh my goodness, I love it. Great goal. Wow, the
stuff of dreams. Isn't that something? Who'd have thought?
Speaker 2 (01:22:52):
You know, incredible stuff?
Speaker 6 (01:22:56):
Did Zilich barry that one on the rebound?
Speaker 22 (01:22:58):
It looked like it was she did keep that puck.
Speaker 6 (01:23:00):
Mikayla Noel kidding, Wow, I love it, oh Man, incredible
hat trip.
Speaker 7 (01:23:13):
For Wow, Like, I mean, it's incredible. They Mikayla Zillis
was the extra skater. She didn't see the ice at
all yesterday. Now she's got three goals.
Speaker 1 (01:23:27):
Up.
Speaker 2 (01:23:27):
Here's the centering pass. Nobody there. Murphy centering pass again,
colliding into the net and knocking it off his bella Vassar.
It would be great to get.
Speaker 6 (01:23:38):
Her goals almost scored just there.
Speaker 2 (01:23:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:23:42):
So now Murphy, Jones, Picard and Vassar the skaters without
a goal this season. Yeah, after Zilli's getting her first
and second and how about her third?
Speaker 2 (01:23:57):
And why not?
Speaker 6 (01:23:58):
Yeah right, great day for hat trick.
Speaker 7 (01:24:00):
Two hat tricks in the game. Here's Potter a shot
deflected wide of the goal. Sims has a hat trick
and Zillius would you believe it has a hat trick?
What a player, what a person? What a moment for her,
and still lots of hockey to play. Six minutes to go.
Here in the second period, it's.
Speaker 3 (01:24:16):
Eleven one.
Speaker 2 (01:24:19):
Wow, picked up behind the net now by Barrett. Shovels
that one along. Hey, here's Halverson makes a nice move
past a couple of Skyhawks, leaves it off for Shappy.
Speaker 7 (01:24:32):
Sends it toward goal. Halverson pokes one to Stone and
it's saved.
Speaker 6 (01:24:36):
That almost that was not a mid air I think
she gets a stick on it.
Speaker 2 (01:24:40):
Wonderf she's a baseball fan. I know it.
Speaker 7 (01:24:42):
A couple of wax out of mid air from Hannah
today won oh Man. That one was certainly closer than
the first. That would be something, you.
Speaker 6 (01:24:50):
Know, aiden we're seeing here just some of the pain
painful things that a newer program has.
Speaker 3 (01:24:56):
To go through.
Speaker 6 (01:24:57):
You know, I think it's good that stone Hill is
playing us. I remember back when Lyndon Wood was just starting,
when Syracuse was had a new women's program, and you know,
eventually those programs grow and they get good exactly, but
this is one of the stages they got to go
through to get there.
Speaker 7 (01:25:14):
Here's Gorbatenko a chance now in front. Gorbatenco is still
fighting for it. Collision there at the boards zone is
kept by Vivian Jungles. Here's Halverson. Halverson finds Gorbtenko. Gorbitenko says,
scandal in the corner. Scannell creating some space, finds a lane.
(01:25:34):
Here's Scannell deflected out of play with.
Speaker 3 (01:25:37):
Five twelve to go in the second eleven one good.
Speaker 6 (01:25:42):
Now to me, this is a stat you don't see
very often. We've got they've got two more shots than
we have goals. They have a thirteen shots on net
by stone Hill and eleven goals scored by the Badgers.
That's not something you see very often.
Speaker 7 (01:25:57):
No, especially when the shot count is that high for
stone Hills yeah, it makes sense. Okay, maybe you get
three goals a chance out in front. Here's and write
a chance again. How about four Mikayla. Yeah, here's Murphy.
Murphy takes a shot into the glove. Rebound is loose
and it's covered up. But yeah, like I was saying,
it would make sense if Okay, maybe he gets three goals.
(01:26:17):
Another team has four shots, but eleven goals in the
other team.
Speaker 2 (01:26:21):
That's thirteen shots. That is quite the accomplishment.
Speaker 6 (01:26:24):
You don't see that number combination very.
Speaker 2 (01:26:27):
Often, Oh you don't.
Speaker 7 (01:26:28):
Murphy at the left point down low finds Mikayla Zillish
and it goes back behind the net.
Speaker 2 (01:26:37):
Picked up by Geist, picked back up by En right
for Wisconsin, and right behind the net the centering past Nobody, Aaron.
Speaker 7 (01:26:44):
White, picked up by stone Hill. Bibo gets it at
center ice. Barrett sends that one into the Badger zone.
Mackenzie Jones chasing Jones, big collision there behind the net.
Jones gets it to Bacard. Bacard makes a nice move
there around Bibo the card up the middle.
Speaker 6 (01:27:03):
Just off side. Jila slid off side there. I believe,
just a hair. She's pretty anxious. Once a fourth. You know,
I can't stay out of the offensive zone for any
more than a second.
Speaker 2 (01:27:15):
Mikayla' zewish inner pagerick career had one goal.
Speaker 6 (01:27:19):
It was one goal last season, so happy for her.
Now she's got three today. I mean it's amazing. That's great,
so great.
Speaker 2 (01:27:26):
Turned over in the Stonehill zone, here's Edwards.
Speaker 6 (01:27:30):
Edward's across the McCarthy blocked in front by Russell, Potter
plas Potter behind the net, centering past again off a
skate of Russell and it carroms into the corner.
Speaker 3 (01:27:42):
Edwards trying to keep it in and she does.
Speaker 2 (01:27:45):
McCarthy chasing it behind the net. Russell's got it for
stone Hill. McCarthy tying Russell up. It comes free now
to Feenie on the opposite corner. In the stone Hill zone.
It's turned over. Edwards has it at the point is Potter.
Speaker 7 (01:27:58):
Potter rips the shot made by Stone rebound controlled by McCarthy,
goes back behind the net, chasing it is Edwards getting
there before feene Edwards the hull haul in the corner,
skating to the circle, drops it off for Potter.
Speaker 2 (01:28:14):
Potter driving to the net on the backhand.
Speaker 7 (01:28:16):
They skull my goodness, Laney Potter a backhander and the
Badgers add a twelve man.
Speaker 6 (01:28:24):
She just comes down the right wing. She's a left hander.
She's got the puck on her backhand and just flips
it in there for another goal. Nice job, goal number
six of the season for Landy Potter.
Speaker 7 (01:28:35):
The only defender with more goals than the Badgers is,
of course, Caroline Harvey has got nine.
Speaker 2 (01:28:40):
She's basically a forward at this point.
Speaker 6 (01:28:42):
You know that that we had the puck in the
zone quite a while there, and it all started with
some good for checking pressure by McCarthy exactly. You know,
nobody talks about that, but that's what makes that stuff
happen or initiates it.
Speaker 7 (01:28:54):
Three and a half to go here in the second period,
twelve one Wisconsin and Simms, who's got a hat trick.
Today's got the puck. Now Sims gets it over to Jungles.
Here's Lacy Eden, Eden stretched past the Harvey have you
touched from hers? He's got to chase it into the corner,
but with her speed gets there with these over to Eden,
slapshot blocked.
Speaker 2 (01:29:15):
Has it a second time? Can't find an angle picked.
Speaker 7 (01:29:18):
Up by Harvey right point Caroline Harvey up the middle,
takes a shot deflected in front by Sims and over
the goal. Shapoval A Vova picks it up at the
left circle, skating to the point, cycling to the middle.
Now here's Harvey at the right point going to the
middle as well. Harvey down low and sticked away and
up out of play by eve Stone.
Speaker 6 (01:29:40):
Well, I tell you you mentioned it earlier, but we
might see a different goalie in the third. You think,
you know, no sense having somebody stay in and take
the complete brunt of this one sided game we're seeing.
Speaker 7 (01:29:57):
And then it would make the question to go at
their normal starter as I'll get back to that in
a moment. Is Hannah Halverson said it in front of
Kelly Gorbtenko for Lucky thirteen.
Speaker 6 (01:30:06):
Oh my goodness, Sh'll tell you. I mean, I can't
even get a word in because they just keep storing.
I know, Geez Gorbels score, Yeah, that one.
Speaker 3 (01:30:14):
Kelly gets that one. It'll be her twelve. And we
were just talking about it, but here.
Speaker 2 (01:30:18):
Comes Alexa Karen, the goaltender for stone Hill.
Speaker 3 (01:30:21):
That's going to be the end of the.
Speaker 7 (01:30:22):
Road for Evestone. It's unfortunate. She faced fifty shots, let
up thirteen goals.
Speaker 2 (01:30:27):
But she played well and she played well.
Speaker 6 (01:30:29):
She had a lot of great says he just sure did.
Speaker 2 (01:30:32):
And what's unfortunate about.
Speaker 7 (01:30:33):
That is you just look at the sateline and you
know a lot of players, a lot of people don't
look at how a goalie plays. They just look at
how many goals they give up. And that's unfortunate for
stone who had a good game, but hard to play
against this badger team as we know. So Alexa Karen
in net now for stone stone Hill. She played the
entirety of that six to one defeat against Mercy Hurst
(01:30:56):
yesterday two days ago.
Speaker 24 (01:30:58):
That is.
Speaker 7 (01:31:00):
Picked up by Picard. Picard left point, great past the
find zillas. Here comes Zillis, turnings, get it across to
end rights assists. Here's Murphy, Murphy moving in, she shoots,
It's saved by Karen. Now Zillish has it in the corner,
goes behind the net for Picard. Picard opposite corners, skating
(01:31:21):
to the circle. Picard shoots missus the net shot. Here's
end right back to Picard, saved again by Karen. Picard
wants her first goal of the season. Yeah, this line
has been amazing.
Speaker 6 (01:31:33):
They really have. They're working hard, led by Mikayla Zillish
with four points today, bad line change for Stonehilk and
the Badger's capitalized.
Speaker 2 (01:31:42):
Not quite. Here's Bella.
Speaker 7 (01:31:43):
Vassar gave it away to Palsa who was able to
dump it down behind the Badger goal and we have
to go turned over though, chance out in front, just
over the stick of Pulsa shot from the point deflected
wide of the net. Minute twenty to go. Here in
the second, Badger's lead thirteen to one. Ye, that's that's right,
thirteen one.
Speaker 6 (01:32:01):
You heard me correctly, Man Bakers doesn't Here we go.
Speaker 7 (01:32:04):
Here's McCarthy, great pass getting it up to Hall, couldn't
control it, centering pass in front, turned away, Sidney Russell
trying to get out with it and does delayed icing
and it's waved off. Potter picks it up behind the
Badger goal for the final minute of the period.
Speaker 2 (01:32:21):
Can the Badgers add one more?
Speaker 7 (01:32:23):
Here in the second Vassar moves it in for Hall,
picked up now at center ice by Mia ken Moore.
Speaker 2 (01:32:32):
For Stonehill.
Speaker 7 (01:32:32):
Back behind the net is Stewart for the final forty
seconds of the period gets it to Emma Venusio. Now
here's McCarthy. McCarthy who got the Badger's rolling just a
few seconds into this game. It's going her first of
the season on the first shot of the day.
Speaker 6 (01:32:47):
She's playing a good game.
Speaker 7 (01:32:49):
She is Goorbetenko's gonna have to hurry back on her
own zone to get this buck and she does, makes
a nice one handed move and here she goes watch
her fly. Here comes Kelly Gorbtenko to.
Speaker 6 (01:32:59):
The net, a centering pass, save May who is Alverson
out in front.
Speaker 7 (01:33:04):
What an effort, Scannal. Though the Badgers aren't done yet.
Potter had a goal a few minutes ago. Scannal sends
that one down. It's block that stays with it. Scannal
picks it up in the corner, Scandal to the backhand,
and that'll do it for the period. The Badgers add
quite a few and they've got a thirteen to one
(01:33:25):
lead Greeny. And now we can look at that stat
we were talking about earlier with the shots on goal.
Speaker 2 (01:33:29):
Thirteen shots on goal for Stonehill thirteen goals.
Speaker 6 (01:33:32):
Yeah, that is that's something man, I tell you talk
about one sided today.
Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
But what do you do?
Speaker 6 (01:33:37):
You just gotta keep playing, gotta keep playing.
Speaker 7 (01:33:39):
And that's what they're gonna do for one more period
here at the Ford Ice Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (01:33:44):
We're gonna take a break when we come back.
Speaker 7 (01:33:46):
The intermission report presented by Fields Madison don't go anywhere here.
Speaker 2 (01:33:50):
On ten to seventy, the.
Speaker 7 (01:33:51):
Game sims no one out in front for her, so
she maintains possession and goes back for Lacy.
Speaker 2 (01:33:58):
Eaton the centering pass a score. Kirsten Simms was all alone.
It's back handed it in for a Badger fifth.
Speaker 6 (01:34:07):
If Helberson would have knocked that one in, I think
it would have counted us and go, Wow, what a play.
Speaker 2 (01:34:11):
And right there the Badger's score, it's Mikayla Zillish who
scores her first goal of the season.
Speaker 6 (01:34:20):
Wow, and what a beauty right there in the slot,
beautiful past tour. She banged home right through the five holes, stolen.
Speaker 2 (01:34:26):
Mary and mccartt moving in to the net. The wrap
around Zillis they made did it go in?
Speaker 6 (01:34:32):
Goy pick a goal on a rebound.
Speaker 2 (01:34:35):
Mikayla zilli Ish has dot it again, her second goal
in about two minutes. Mickayla, have yourself a game in
the corner. Sims makes a great move to the middle.
Speaker 15 (01:34:46):
Here comes Sims, who's stole My goodness, Patrick for Kirsten.
Speaker 2 (01:34:50):
Simms in a beautiful goal. Man Haul now creates some space.
Speaker 7 (01:34:54):
Here comes Hall centering past a scoring and Layla Edwards
an easy tap in there after a great pass from
Cassie Hall and the Badgers have nine in the second
and here come the Badgers. It's McCarthy up to Cassie Hall.
Cassie Hall's driving to the net. Here comes Halty score.
Speaker 2 (01:35:14):
Oh, beautiful solo effort from Cassie Hall.
Speaker 20 (01:35:19):
Man.
Speaker 6 (01:35:19):
She gets a pass there from McCarthy and she carries
it down the left wing. It's on her backhand, comes
right across the crease, pulls it to her forehand and
slides it through the five hole for the tenth goal
of the day for the Badgers.
Speaker 2 (01:35:32):
To the score, centering past Zillis, Yeah, Patrick, she got it.
Speaker 6 (01:35:37):
Oh my goodness, Patrick, I love it. Great goal.
Speaker 2 (01:35:42):
Potter driving to the net on the backhand.
Speaker 7 (01:35:44):
They score, My goodness, Laney Potter a backhander and the
Badgers add a twelfth. Tanna Halverson sends it in front
of Kelly gor Bateenco for Lucky thirteen.

Welcome back inside the Ford Ice Center here in Nashville, Tennessee.
My name is Aiden Michael. You're listening to Badger Women's
Hockey on ten to seventy of the game. This is
the intermission report presented by Fields Madison, your premier luxury
auto group serving customers since nineteen seventy one. If you're
just joining us, I'm gonna go ahead and recap the goals,
but bear with me.
Speaker 2 (01:39:24):
It might take a little bit.
Speaker 7 (01:39:25):
We started off with Finley mccarthy'scoring the first goal of
the game just twenty two seconds in the first period,
her first goal of the season. Edwards and Harvey got
the assist on that one. Another assist for Caroline Harvey.
She's got a four point night, and we'll go over
that in just a bit because there's a couple of
players that have four points in this game so far.
(01:39:46):
Second goal came a bit later, Kirsten Sim's getting one.
Then the Badgers went on the power play a few
minutes later. Lacey Eden scored on that power play, as
she did yesterday. She's now up to thirteen goals. Claire
Enwright scored the final goal of the with Mikayla Zillish
getting her second assist of the season or second point
of the season. She was the extra skater yesterday, didn't
(01:40:08):
see the ice at all. She gets an assist on
the Badger fourth goal. That did it for the first period.
Now let's take a look at the second period. First,
I'll get it out of the way and we'll talk
about the stone Hill goal. It was Peyton Wise who
got a goal, and I'll tell you what. The bench
for stone Hill was absolutely going crazy. Peyton Wise was
getting mobbed by her teammates. She fell down to the ice.
(01:40:29):
It was a good moment for stone Hill and the
Skyhawks to score here against the Badgers. But back to
Badger scoring to start off that second period. It was
another even strength goal by Kirsten Simms Eden getting the
assist on that one. Another point for Lacey Eden. But
then here's when things.
Speaker 2 (01:40:46):
Got a bit crazy.
Speaker 7 (01:40:48):
We talked about Mikayla Zillis, who didn't see the ice
at all yesterday, as the extra skater because of Charlotte
Peakinhagen being out of this lineup for undisclosed reasons. The
extra skater became Bella Vassar who was scratching. Kayla Zillish
slotted in to that fourth line with Claire Enwright and
Mariann Picard, and Mikayla Zillish scores her first goal of
the season to make it six nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:41:10):
But she wasn't done yet.
Speaker 7 (01:41:12):
About forty seconds later, Zillis scores a second goal from
that line. Again, they kept that line on the ice
after that goal because they weren't out there for very long,
and Mikayla Zillish scores a second goal. Then a few
minutes after that, Kirsten Simms completes her hat trick. It
was a beautiful goal. She picked up the puck on
the right side, entering the zone on the blue line,
moving on in, made a couple of great moves, you
(01:41:34):
know the move that I'm talking about, the toe drag
that Kirstin Simms just absolutely loves, gets to the back
end and just absolutely scores a highlight real goal. Best
goal of the season perhaps, so another one for Kirsten Simms.
That hat trick for Kirsten shoots her up to thirteen
goals this season, so she's tied for the team lead
with Lacey ed Eden and Cassie Hall as well, who
(01:41:56):
got a goal later on. So hat trick for Kirsten Simms.
Then Edwards scores her first goal of the game halfway
through the second period. Cassie Hall, with a beautiful assist,
gets in on the left side, makes a couple of
nice moves, finds an open net for Laila Edwards to
just slott at home.
Speaker 2 (01:42:12):
She's not gonna miss from there. At that point, it
made it nine to one. This was halfway through the
second period.
Speaker 7 (01:42:18):
Two minutes later, Cassie Hall, as I mentioned, who's got
the team lead with Eden and Sims with thirteen goals
scores a nice goal to make it ten to one,
give it double digits for the Badgers the first time
this season. They had a nine to two victory against
Bmigie State. In the opening game back in late September
in Bamigi, they did not reach double digits, but now
they finally have here against Stonehole today. It was the
(01:42:41):
thirteenth goal of the season for Cassie Hall McCarthy getting
an assist, So another point for Finley today in a
day that she gets her first goal of the season.
Then a couple minutes after that, we're gonna bring up
Mikayla Zilish again. Two goals in this game. She gets
her hat trick. Enright gets the assist, but Card gets
another assist. It's eleven to one Wisconsin. Kayla Zillish with
her first career hat trick and her bench was loving it.
(01:43:05):
That's a puck that you keep. They grabbed the.
Speaker 2 (01:43:06):
Puck out of the net and they're gonna let Mikayla
keep that forever. That's a memory she won't forget.
Speaker 7 (01:43:12):
Imagine getting your first goal this season, a minute later
getting your second goal of the season, and then a
few minutes later getting your third, and I was talking
to some folks who work with bad Roman Takin, and
I was saying, I want to see Mikayla Zillish score
a goal, how about three? And we've still got a
period of hockey to play. They're playing that fourth line
quite a bit as well in this game, so perhaps
Mikayla Zillish is not done yet. Right now, she's got
(01:43:33):
a hat trick, but she could go for four. Then
a couple minutes after that, with four minutes remaining in
the second period, Laney Potter scored one of her own
to make it twelve to one, Cassie Hall getting another assist,
Edwards getting an assist as well.
Speaker 2 (01:43:47):
Lady Potter has been sneaky this season. She's got six goals.
Speaker 7 (01:43:51):
Now the blue liner now Caroline Harvey leads Wisconsin defenders
and goals with nine because of how amazing she's been
with getting points in scoring goals.
Speaker 2 (01:43:59):
She's over thirty points now this season, which is just incredible.
Speaker 7 (01:44:02):
But Lady Potter has been sneaky good for the Badgers
in that second defensive unit. She has seven assists this season,
six goals, so now she's got thirteen points on the year.
She's been pretty great for Wisconsin, both offensively and defensively.
Speaker 2 (01:44:17):
It's quite refreshing.
Speaker 7 (01:44:19):
Then the last goal of that period, the ninth of
nine and the thirteenth of the game for Wisconsin. It
was Kelly Gorbtenko, who entered the game with eleven goals
this season, now has her twelve. Hannah Halverson her new
line mate as of today, getting the assistant Maggie Scannell.
Speaker 2 (01:44:36):
She was reunited with Maggie Scannell in today's game. As usually,
as we began the season, it was Kelly Gorbertenko, Maggie
Scannell and Cassie Hall on a line. But then Scanner
left Kelly and Cassie and started playing on a different line,
went up to the first line, dropped down to the
third line. Now Kelly Gorbertenko dropping down to the third line.
There with Maggie Scannell and Hannah Harverson. That line, I'll
(01:44:56):
tell you what is working out very very well. Mark
Johnson has to be with what's been going on. But
that is the scoring summary for this game. The Badgers
with thirteen goals.
Speaker 7 (01:45:07):
Now the stat that Greeny and I were talking about,
which is something you probably won't ever see, which is
the Badgers have thirteen goals and the Stonehill Skyhawks have
thirteen shots on goal. Riah Stewart has made the same
number of saves as the Badgers have scored goals in
this game.
Speaker 2 (01:45:24):
It is absolutely incredible.
Speaker 7 (01:45:25):
Now, it's a stat you might see with the first
shot of the game, for example, and Finley scored. It's like, okay,
well you got one goal, the other team has one
shot on goal, or even okay, you scored on your
first two shots on goal. You got two shots on
goal to two goals going against you. But this is thirteen.
We're talking about double digits here. Thirteen goals to thirteen
shots on goal. It's just absolutely incredible. That's all you
(01:45:47):
can say about that. The Badgers have been absolutely amazing
and it is thank you to Jay Gross, who we
had an interview with last intermission.
Speaker 2 (01:45:57):
I told you he's the guy that gives me all
the stats. The previous record for most goals in a
period for Wisconsin was set in twenty twenty four in
the first period against lynden Wood.
Speaker 3 (01:46:07):
That was eight.
Speaker 7 (01:46:08):
They had it against Amidgie State in twenty five this
year or last year last season with eight as well.
But the Badger's scoring nine goals in this second period.
It is a new program record. So Kelly Gorbtenko, she
might think that she got the meaningless goal in this game,
but in reality, she became the history maker for Wisconsin.
So thanks again to Jake Ross for giving us that stat.
(01:46:32):
He really does everything behind the scenes and makes it
a million times easier for all of us.
Speaker 3 (01:46:37):
So there you have it.
Speaker 7 (01:46:39):
Nine goals in the second a new program record. It's
quite incredible. Now, I told you I was going to
keep you guys updated on the Ohio State games and
the other games around the WCCHA. Yesterday, Ohio State played
against Colgate. Colgate is a ranked team. They are number twelve.
They were number thirteen in last week's ranking. They moved
up to number twelve. They ended up losing five to
(01:47:01):
nothing to Ohio State o Ihowa State did have a
dominant win, a dominant shoutout against Colgate, sending a message
perhaps to the Badgers and those two teams will play
in Columbus next week, the number one and two team,
But the Badgers obviously.
Speaker 3 (01:47:15):
Not really looking ahead of that just yet.
Speaker 7 (01:47:17):
They still got to finish this game and take home
the trophy, which I don't want to speak too soon
because the game is not over.
Speaker 2 (01:47:22):
I know it's quite the lead. It is a twelve
goal lead, which is something you can't really say very often.
So in all likelihood, the Badgers are going to win
this game and pick up the Guitar Trophy. But we're
not there yet, so let's not get two ahead of ourselves.
Speaker 7 (01:47:35):
Want to take a look at the rankings, though, the
US Echo rankings will start from the bottom, and I
want to look at Minnesota State, one of the underrated
teams that people were saying they were gonna be an
underrated team heading.
Speaker 3 (01:47:47):
Into this season all the way.
Speaker 7 (01:47:48):
At the preseason, and they have finally climbed into the
ranks in the top fifteen most sports its top twenty five,
and women TAKI it's top fifteen. So Minnesota's Minnesota State
just creeping in to the top fifteen. There the second
team to go into the rankings that were not ranked
the week before, the other team being Princeton, who shot
up all the way to thirteen after not being ranked
(01:48:09):
last year. Sant Cloud State or last season, excuse me,
last week. Saint Cloud State started the week at number ten.
They moved out of the top ten and moved down
four slots at the number fourteen spot. We're gonna skip
pass sort of the middle part of it, and I
want to go to the top six Minnesota to luth
who were number four when the Badgers played them, when
(01:48:30):
the Badgers swept them in that dramatic comeback in that
second game at lebonn earlier this season. Since then, d
Looth had gone down to the number five spot, and
they have now gone down to the number six s pot.
They haven't had an easy schedule, but this is a
team that obviously number six in the country is not
a bad ranking to be at at all. But the
luth were expected to be that fourth team up there
(01:48:50):
with Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (01:48:53):
They were expected to keep that ranking.
Speaker 7 (01:48:54):
They were sort of those not underdogs, but just that
dark horse to look out for if you will. And
they have been good, but they haven't been winning some
of the games that perhaps they should have won. They
were so close to beating Wisconsin.
Speaker 2 (01:49:06):
They had a lead under a minute to go in
the third period at Lebon only for the Badgers to
tie it up and then win it. They didn't even
get the extra point as it didn't go to overtime
eight seconds left, Cassie Hall won the game in overtime.
Speaker 7 (01:49:19):
It was one of the best teams I've seen at
lebon Arena. So that's Minnesota. Duluth Cornell dropped the spot.
They were at number four last week.
Speaker 2 (01:49:27):
They moved down to number five, and that's because Penn
State is up in the top four. They're sixteen and
oh this season.
Speaker 7 (01:49:34):
They have not lost a game, and they've played some
pretty decent competition as well, hence why they are number
four ranked.
Speaker 3 (01:49:39):
This is a team that crept up.
Speaker 6 (01:49:41):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:49:41):
We know Penn State is a good team, but it's
not a team you thought was going to be in
the top five heading into this season. But they are
undefeated sixteen and oh and perhaps they will face off
against the WHA team in the playoffs in a few months,
where we're pretty far from there, so we'll stick with
the season so far.
Speaker 3 (01:49:58):
Right now, we've only.
Speaker 7 (01:50:00):
Crept into December. In fact, that'll be tomorrow, so I
guess it's still November now. But anyway, regardless of that,
Penn State has been incredible. They were actually the They
played in the Snashville Showcase in Nashville here last year
and as I can see behind myself in the bar,
they've got their their logo up next to the guitar trophy,
which I'm still not sure about because there is the
(01:50:21):
guitar trophy that we've seen that it's a beautiful looking guitar,
but then I'm not sure if the Badger's gonna keep it.
Speaker 2 (01:50:28):
Now people were saying, oh, I bet they made two.
I'm not sure if they did. I hope they did.
It's a really beautiful guitar with the Smashville Showcase logo
on it, but I'm not sure if the Badgers are
gonna get to keep it because they put the previous
winners guitars behind us on the wall for decoration, so
we'll have to see it. But either way, the Badgers
are gonna gonna lift that guitar at the end at
the end of the game. And anyway, the top three
(01:50:50):
now so Wisconsin obviously maintaining the number one ranking. They
likely are going to keep that Ohio state at number two,
moving back up, switching with Minnesota, who were number two
after splitting the series with Wisconsin a couple of weeks
ago and hollow weekend, they now moved down to the
three spot. Ohio State back to the number two spots,
so that kind of confirms next week we are going
(01:51:10):
to see a top two matchupate we'll be number one
Wisconsin versus number two Ohio State. Those are the rankings,
so we're gonna look ahead to that next week. That'll
be Paul Brown and Mark Greenhall on the call there
in Columbus. I will be in studio doing the intermission,
pre game and postgame from Fitchburg. So that's gonna do
(01:51:31):
it for our intermission report. Lots of hockey to play,
twenty minutes of regulation coming up. The Badger's lead thirteen
to one, so if you want to see some goals,
stay tuned. We'll be right back here on ten seventy
of the game. Reach for Sky.
Speaker 20 (01:51:49):

Speaker 2 (01:54:22):
And we're back here in the third period. Badgers lead
thirteen to one.
Speaker 3 (01:54:26):
We are under way in Nashville.
Speaker 7 (01:54:28):
Here's but card right off the bat and losing it
out and then clearing the zone. Was Hannah Squires kept
in by the skate though for the moment by Murphy,
and then it's sent down, picked up the blue line
by Geist. Mackenzie Jones brings it down for Halverson. Up ahead,
the Scannal pokes it along Sokka your Scannal in the
corner the centering pass looking for Gorbutenko. It's a good
(01:54:49):
stick in front by Squires.
Speaker 6 (01:54:52):
Yeah, good idea, but defended well.
Speaker 2 (01:54:55):
Stuart behind the net for the Badgers gets it to Gorbatenko.
Speaker 7 (01:54:59):
Now picked up by Scannal. Scannal up ahead, takes a
nice bound for Golbtenko to bring it in. It falls
for Halverson. Now Scannal tries to whack at it. Venusio
keeps it in at the left point, throws it toward goal,
tipped in front by Gorbutenko, just wide, and then lift
it out of play into the netting by a skyhawk
(01:55:19):
Mia Ken Moore.
Speaker 6 (01:55:22):
So we're kind of picking up where we left off
as far as the Badger's putting offensive pressure on the
Stonehill gang here, So then we're gonna have a face
off to the left of the goalie Alexa Corone, who.
Speaker 7 (01:55:36):
We saw come in after that thirteenth goal. So so
far she hasn't given up a goal just yet, but
she hasn't been in for long. Cassie Hall spins away
from Feeni. Cassie Hall down load, tipped in front, saved
by Puck is loose. McCarthy has a whack at it
and it's gobbled up by Alexa.
Speaker 2 (01:55:55):
Karen.
Speaker 6 (01:55:56):
Yeah, Hall got that thing to the net and then
it rebounded out and McCarthy was there.
Speaker 2 (01:56:03):
But you'll luck so a face off to come to
the right of Karen.
Speaker 7 (01:56:08):
Cassie Hall on the draw for Wisconsin, Peyton paulsa on
the draw for stone Hill zone is kept by Wisconsin.
Then it's poked out and pestering out its slocum who
gets it to Sydney Russell in their own zone up
to center ice now bringing it in is Matty Bibbo.
Got turned over by Finley McCarthy. McCarthy has it in
(01:56:30):
the stone Hill zone, sends that one up ahead to
slow them. Slocum gets around Eden but then gives it
away to Jungles. Hall at center. Ice has it. Cassie
Hall moving in on with it in her own zone.
Stretch pass up ahead to Sims. Sims got a hat
(01:56:50):
trick today, paulsa picking it off of Sims. But there
to help is Harvey to get it right back for Wisconsin.
Speaker 2 (01:56:59):
Sims.
Speaker 7 (01:57:00):
The badger zone turned over to Comb. Here comes Comb
gets hit in the middle. No penalty there and it's
picked up by Murphy.
Speaker 6 (01:57:11):
That's unlike Jungles Sarah, turn it over in our own
end a little bit.
Speaker 7 (01:57:15):
Chapa valle Vova on the right side, entering the zone,
skating to the corner behind the net, tries to find
a player out in front, but wasn't on the same
page there with Kirsten Simms skating to the corner. Now
is Murphy pokes it to Jones. Jones has it in
her own corner, gets.
Speaker 2 (01:57:34):
It out to Eden. It's got a lot of space
on that left side. Now enters the zone.
Speaker 7 (01:57:38):
Here's Eden still with it, criss crossing, sends it down
low for Chapo vale Vava, who sticked it wide. Eden
picks it up behind the net Eden the centering pass.
Nobody there in white. Murphy's gonna chase to try and
keep it in the zone, but can't quite do it.
Speaker 6 (01:57:53):
Sixteen twenty to go. Here in regulation, Mackenzie Jones picks
it up in her own blue line.
Speaker 7 (01:58:00):
Comb for Stonehill, gets it out of the zone, gets
at the center ice and it's picked up there by
Zillish whacking away out of his Jones.
Speaker 2 (01:58:08):
It comes free for Murphy.
Speaker 7 (01:58:11):
Good to see this fourth line back out for Wisconda.
Speaker 6 (01:58:14):
Here comes Picard the card shoot save me bound is loose,
Badgers stay with it.
Speaker 2 (01:58:20):
Here's Zillish.
Speaker 7 (01:58:22):
Zillish sends that across Venusio. Venusio behind the net, finds Picard,
but Card's still with it. Here is Mariann Picard. It's
saved by Karen and then the zone is cleared. It's
gonna go all the way down for an icing as
Potter touches up and that line getting things going again.
Speaker 2 (01:58:41):
Greeny.
Speaker 6 (01:58:41):
Yeah, they're making a lot of things happen. You're keeping
their feet moving. The players without the puck are going
to the right spots or moving the puck. Good passing. Yeah,
they're creating good opportunities.
Speaker 7 (01:58:52):
That they are fifty five shots on goal for the
Badgers today and it's sixty three yesterday it was a
season high.
Speaker 2 (01:58:58):
They've got lots of time to do some more and
that that clock didn't stop.
Speaker 3 (01:59:04):
But it doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (01:59:05):
We keep playing.
Speaker 7 (01:59:06):
Yeah, and here come the Skyhawks to get it out
of the zone, and they do, but only as far
as center ice for Lady Potter to bring it in.
Great move from Potter. Here comes pacarda shot deflected and
wide of the goal. But Card with another chance. Here
she is again, but Card turning shooting.
Speaker 6 (01:59:25):
Block it away. I want to see her get a
goal so bad.
Speaker 2 (01:59:28):
And you can tell she wants to get a goal now.
Speaker 6 (01:59:30):
Yeah, she's foaming at the bit right now he is.
Speaker 2 (01:59:33):
She sees her line mate scoring a goal and her
other line mate scoring a hat trick.
Speaker 6 (01:59:37):
Oh man, that works so hard, you know he does.
I'm actually surprised she doesn't have a goal yet this year.
Speaker 7 (01:59:42):
I know, right, Zillish gave it away at the blue line.
Now here come the Skyhawks. It's soccer. Soccer finds a
teammate shot saved by Stuart. The shot there from Peyton Wise,
the goal scorer for Stonehole stone Hill today.
Speaker 2 (01:59:58):
Gosh, keep saying stone.
Speaker 6 (02:00:00):
Hole, well, nice save. There by Rayah goes to the butterfly,
gloves it, picks it clean. They're gonna have a face
off to her leaf.
Speaker 2 (02:00:12):
Scanneal on the draw for Wisconsin.
Speaker 3 (02:00:14):
She wins it.
Speaker 7 (02:00:16):
Jungles has it behind the Badger goal, gives it away
to Socca. Jungles gets it right back. Here is Jungles
up ahead to Halverson, touches it along to Gorbatenko. Gorbtenko
up the middle, makes a nice move. Gorbateenko lost it
for a moment, gets it right back, centering pass it
karm toward goal and Karen kicks it away. Halverson gave
(02:00:37):
it away the blue line. Sokka turned away again. Here
come to Skyhawks. Octil makes a move around Harvey and
then goes for a change as she lost possession. There's
Caroline Harvey with speed up ahead to Scannal. Scannal entering
the zone, Toad drags spins away, finds Jungles at the
point as a lane takes a shot into the glove
(02:00:59):
of Alexic Heron.
Speaker 6 (02:01:02):
Nice shot by Jungles. There rist her from the point
gloved by Caron.
Speaker 7 (02:01:09):
Thirteen fifty four to go Here in the third period,
Badgers with fifty eight shots, stone Hill with fifteen. Badgers
lead thirteen to one. Scannel wins the draw clean lyad
to Jones at the point. Here's Murphy. Murphy at the
blue line, skating to the net. Murphy's still with that.
The centering pass puck is loose. Halverson had a whack
(02:01:30):
at it, couldn't get it toward goal.
Speaker 3 (02:01:33):
In the corner.
Speaker 2 (02:01:34):
Squires gets it around, tries to clear the zone. Mackenzie
Jones keeps it in. Halverson gets it at the right point.
Speaker 7 (02:01:42):
Halverson down to Scannel, back to Halverson took a tight
angle shot and turned away. Corbtenko a centering pass to
find Halverson.
Speaker 3 (02:01:50):
She fanned on it.
Speaker 7 (02:01:52):
Scannal trying to get it in the corner. There puck
is free for anybody to grab it. Halverson wants it,
so she picks it up in the corner. Halverson threw
it toward goal, never got through.
Speaker 2 (02:02:03):
Scandal on it.
Speaker 7 (02:02:04):
Pass in front again, Gorbatenko had a couple of whacks,
couldn't get it and.
Speaker 2 (02:02:08):
Finally covering Itenko and I'll tell you what it looked like.
Karen had her glove on the puck, but Gorbatenko saw
that it was loose, and she scores a second.
Speaker 6 (02:02:19):
Man, old man, I'm telling you Gorbateko never gave up
on that play.
Speaker 7 (02:02:24):
No, she did not, and it paid off. That's the
second goal of the game for Gorbatenko. It's the third
Badger of the day to score multiple goals. And I
think the referees hearing stone Hill out saying hey, I
thought we had the puck covered, and the official says.
Speaker 2 (02:02:40):
Nope, I was right there.
Speaker 6 (02:02:41):
It was loose. They were right on top of it.
Speaker 2 (02:02:43):
And there you go.
Speaker 7 (02:02:44):
And it didn't seem like any of the stone Hill
players nor the goaltender was appealing any right.
Speaker 2 (02:02:49):
So there you have it. So Kelly Gorbateeko or second
of the day.
Speaker 7 (02:02:53):
She was the history maker in the second scoring that
record ninth goal in the second period, she gets the
second consecutive goal for the Badgers and her twelve of
the year. She scores one more. She's up there with
thirteen among the team leaders again with Eden, Sims and Hall.
There's three players with thirteen goals gored Portago's they got twelve.
Now see if she wants a hat trick, how about that?
Speaker 6 (02:03:16):
Yeah, it might happen. Patrick of Hatrick's a lot of
game left.
Speaker 7 (02:03:20):
Oh yeah, twelve and a half to go. Here in regulation,
it's picked up by stone Hill. It's Bellasaka doesn't know
where it is, so she lost it. Here's McCarthy. McCarthy
moving to the net. McCarthy just misses the net.
Speaker 2 (02:03:33):
Good save there, yeah, was by Karen, just got a
piece of it to send it over the goal.
Speaker 7 (02:03:38):
Potter at the point. Potter moving to the middle, makes
a move to the left side. Potter centering pass. Here's
McCarthy a shot save up high. Puck is loose and
picked up by Eden behind the net. Eden they wrap around,
shot over the goal, picked up by Potter.
Speaker 2 (02:03:55):
Potter.
Speaker 3 (02:03:56):
Can she keep it in?
Speaker 2 (02:03:57):
No, she can't, So skating out with it is Venusio
tries to bring it right back in.
Speaker 7 (02:04:02):
Lost possession of the puck in the neutral zone, picked
up by Palsa and skating off side. Was Palsa just
tailing her? There was Lucy Turcott, So we'll get a
whistle here. With eleven thirty nine to go, Badgers now
have sixty three shots on goal. They're equaling their season high,
which was set twenty four hours ago.
Speaker 6 (02:04:24):
Now, if Gorba Tinkle scores that would be the third
person to have a hat trick today.
Speaker 7 (02:04:28):
Yeah, correct, yep, that'd be the third person to have
hat trick. It would be natural hat trick if she
scores the next goal, freak, but yeah, it would be
quite the man. I mean, the stat keepers are probably
having a tough day right now.
Speaker 6 (02:04:42):
Running out of inkuick and no kidding.
Speaker 7 (02:04:45):
Jungles picks it up at center ice, finds Caroline Harvey
at the blue line, entering the.
Speaker 2 (02:04:49):
Zone is Sims.
Speaker 7 (02:04:50):
Sims drops it off for shapovali Vova takes a shot. Say,
rebound still loose?
Speaker 2 (02:04:54):
Can they whack it in?
Speaker 6 (02:04:55):
They can? Yeah, and it's goal.
Speaker 2 (02:04:58):
Number fifteen Wisconsin.
Speaker 6 (02:05:00):
But hold on, I'm not sure number one who scored
it it is.
Speaker 2 (02:05:05):
I think Shappy gets that one.
Speaker 7 (02:05:07):
So Shappie took the initial shot, and then it looks
like she cleaned up her rebound and even Shappie strug
shrugging as she goes to.
Speaker 3 (02:05:17):
The bench, and I think I got that one.
Speaker 2 (02:05:18):
Yeah, so there you goes.
Speaker 7 (02:05:20):
She didn't have a goal today, she scored her first
goal since her injury yesterday.
Speaker 2 (02:05:24):
Now she's got two straight games with the goal.
Speaker 7 (02:05:26):
So Adela Chapa vale Vova gets on the score sheet
for Wisconsin and it's fourteen.
Speaker 6 (02:05:33):
Yeah, this is insane, this score It's crazy.
Speaker 2 (02:05:43):
At center ice.
Speaker 7 (02:05:44):
Now is Murphy the official announcement gives it to Adela.
Here's Zillish Zila shop ahead to Picard put Card right side,
skating behind the net. The cart's still with it's cycling
Marian Puticard shoots, it's blocked in front, and now a
two on one for the Skyhawks moving in is wise
to Sokka.
Speaker 2 (02:06:02):
Sokka shoots off the side of the going.
Speaker 6 (02:06:05):
Out of plaker blocker saved by Rayah Stewart there.
Speaker 23 (02:06:09):
So.
Speaker 6 (02:06:11):
We'll take that.
Speaker 2 (02:06:15):
Ten twenty seven to go. The Badgers lead fourteen to one.
Speaker 7 (02:06:18):
They now have set the season high with sixty four
shots on goals and and what a game we're seeing here,
so many goals. Ken Moore will take the draw against Scanneal.
Ken Moore wins it at the point is Phoene sends
that one down into the corner. Nobody in Purple there
to get it for Stonehill, so Potter picks it up
in Wisconsin, gets it to Scannal. Gorbtenko trying to clear
(02:06:41):
the zone, can't do it. It's turned over blocked in
front by Potter, got to Halverson, who clears the zone.
Speaker 3 (02:06:48):
Does it go for an icing?
Speaker 2 (02:06:49):
No, last second wave off by the official had his
hand on the whistle, but the Badgers keep the zone.
Speaker 6 (02:06:54):
I think Scannal's hustle prevented that icing from me and called.
Speaker 2 (02:06:57):
Here's Gorbtenko looking for the hat trick and snatched up
by Karen.
Speaker 6 (02:07:02):
She came close to scoring one there, yep.
Speaker 3 (02:07:09):
And with nine fifty five to go, we'll get a
faceoff to come.
Speaker 6 (02:07:16):
Yeah, just to the right of that goaltender Alexa Corone,
we got Cassie Hall of the circle.
Speaker 2 (02:07:24):
There, Hall taking the drug against Pausa. Paulsa wins it.
Speaker 7 (02:07:28):
Badgers were seventy percent from the faceoff dot in yesterday's game.
They've been so good on faceoffs in this tournament.
Speaker 6 (02:07:34):
It's a big part of the game. It is, you know,
it's puck possession. It's to start the puck possession.
Speaker 7 (02:07:40):
Here's Paulsa into the corner, loses her stick. Penalty coming
up against the Badgers. I think it might be Finley
McCarthy going to the box for a hook and the
Badgers will head to the penalty kill.
Speaker 2 (02:07:53):
Here with nine thirty five to go, and.
Speaker 6 (02:07:57):
Who are they sitting down?
Speaker 7 (02:07:58):
Phinley McCarthy Findley's going there, hooky, So there you go.
So the first her second power play excuse me of
the day for Stonehills Mikayla Zillius. Now I know fights
aren't allowed, but she could have had the Gordy hau
Hat trick.
Speaker 6 (02:08:15):
Here you go.
Speaker 7 (02:08:16):
Oh, here's a chance right off the draw, save by Stuart. Yeah,
Badgers looked to clear. Here's Picard. Picard looking to find
end right, but it was blocked in front by Soka.
Socca taking it in on the right side. Stuart turns
that one away.
Speaker 3 (02:08:36):
And right trying to clear it.
Speaker 2 (02:08:37):
Socca makes a nice move a one time he's shot
wide of the goal. Shot from the point there by
Gracie Soaka. Here's Socca again up high on Stewart, who
makes me save.
Speaker 6 (02:08:51):
They're getting a few shots on her.
Speaker 7 (02:08:53):
Here is Bella Soaka across this Badon gave it away
chasing it. There is Phoenie who picks it up in
the corner, centering pass blocked in front by Jungles, and
Picard will.
Speaker 3 (02:09:06):
Clear the zone.
Speaker 7 (02:09:11):
Minute to go on the McCarthy penalty. Here eight and
a half to go in regulation. Here come the Skyhawks,
Slocum touching it around Joan Jones, tying up with her
on the nboards.
Speaker 2 (02:09:27):
Slope them still with it.
Speaker 7 (02:09:29):
Now it comes free, comes free for Pulsa and why
not let it go through her legs? Here is Geist
now Geist on the left side takes a shot toward
goal and gobbled up by Riah Stewart with eight five.
Speaker 3 (02:09:45):
To go here in the third period.
Speaker 6 (02:09:50):
Yeah, they're getting a few shots on Riya here this week.
Speaker 2 (02:09:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:09:53):
This last couple of minutes.
Speaker 7 (02:10:00):
Off one by Cassie Hall in the defensive zone goes
by Venusio, so stone Hill can keep the zone turned
away though Scannel picks it up, picked up by Cassie
Hall up ahead, leaves it for Scannal. Here comes Scannal shorthanded,
Venusio takes it. Venusio takes a shot at save. The
rebound is loose behind the net is Scannal centering past.
Speaker 2 (02:10:20):
The Hall two stores Cassie Hall her second goal of
the day and a short boot shorthanded. Wow, and Cassie
Hall makes it sweet sixteen four Wisconsin.
Speaker 6 (02:10:33):
Man O man by Cassie Hall.
Speaker 2 (02:10:39):
Incredible stuff here right and tight.
Speaker 7 (02:10:43):
And not an ideal power play for stone Hill giving
up a shorty there just at the end of that
power play as well.
Speaker 3 (02:10:53):
But there you go.
Speaker 2 (02:10:54):
So another player on hatrick Watch add Cassie Hall to
the list.
Speaker 3 (02:10:59):
Will we see a hat.
Speaker 2 (02:11:00):
Trick of hat tricks today?
Speaker 7 (02:11:07):
Behind the net picking it up for Wisconsin is Venusio
turned over at center ice. Spadone sends that one into
the Badger zone. Riah Stewart's there to give it to Potter.
Potter pokes it up ahead to Vassar. Now Shapov.
Speaker 2 (02:11:24):
Moving on in.
Speaker 7 (02:11:25):
Here's Venusio rips the shot deflected and hits the glass
behind the net.
Speaker 2 (02:11:30):
Stone Hill trying to clear.
Speaker 3 (02:11:31):
The zone and they can moving out with it is
Hannah Squires.
Speaker 7 (02:11:37):
Squires pokes it into the Badger zone, but the Badgers
pick back, pick up the puck back. Here's Sims, Sims
entering the zone. She's got three today. Sims drops it
off looking for Vassar. Couldn't find her good read.
Speaker 6 (02:11:49):
There, Yeah, picked off by that defender.
Speaker 7 (02:11:52):
Sims falling down at center ice. It goes all the
way back into the Badger zone. Jungles picks it up
behind the net. Caroline Harvey behind then at his jungles
for Wisconsin, gets it up to Sims. Simms at her
own blue line, gets it to Vassar. Here's Bella Vassar.
She's tired, so she'll dump it down. Badgers go for
(02:12:13):
a change, stretch past the soccer. Here comes Gracy Socca
moving on in soccer.
Speaker 2 (02:12:17):
Score man.
Speaker 7 (02:12:20):
Beautiful goal from Gracie Soccer, her fifth goal this season.
Speaker 2 (02:12:27):
And Stonehill add another.
Speaker 6 (02:12:32):
Yeah, you hate to see that, but uh that Gal
just got around Uh you know, KK Harvey and drove
to the net. Nice shot there, got it up high
and beat Stewie.
Speaker 3 (02:12:48):
There you go.
Speaker 6 (02:12:51):
It's a nice goal by them.
Speaker 7 (02:12:52):
So if the Badgers do score another goal Grey, it
will be the most goals in a single game in
Wisconsin women's hockey history. Man sixteen against Lindenwood a few
years ago. They've got sixteen today. We'll see if they
can get the record breaking seventeen. They got a chance
for it now, yep. Here's Zillish Zilish to Picard. Here's Jones.
(02:13:14):
Now Jones drops it off for Zillish Zillius to Murphy.
Murphy toward goal. It's blocked in front, kept in by
the Badgers for the moment Russell clears the zone.
Speaker 2 (02:13:28):
It's picked up by En right at center ice.
Speaker 7 (02:13:31):
Here is Picard, Marry and Picard at center ice across
to Murphy. Murphy left side centering pass looking for Zillish,
couldn't find her, and it's picked back up by stone Hill.
Here comes Mariann Picard, now Picard moving in. She shoots
save made by Karen.
Speaker 6 (02:13:54):
Oh goods, I tell you, I know, I know Riya
wants one back. Yeah, you know you hate the but uh,
pretty nice breakaway drive there by the stone Hill forward.
Speaker 7 (02:14:10):
Yeah, Sokka just roofed it. Yeah, nice goal for them.
Gorbatenko has it in the corner. She had a record
breaking goal in the second. She's looking for a record
breaking goal. Here she takes the shot saved by Karen
Goorbatenko centering pass.
Speaker 2 (02:14:23):
Puck's still loose. Eten whacking away at it.
Speaker 7 (02:14:26):
Ah gorbtenko Eden lifts it over the net and up
on the glass. Badgers keep the zone and then Halverson
skates out with it and goes back.
Speaker 2 (02:14:38):
Badgers will ic it with four forty three, but.
Speaker 7 (02:14:41):
No Eden gets there first, eating out in the fun
What an effort from Lacy Eden. It looks like she
was beat. Venusio can't keep the zone. She gets the
puck back and skates behind the net with it in
her own zone. Venusio tries to.
Speaker 3 (02:14:57):
Chip it out.
Speaker 7 (02:14:58):
Big hit at the blue line by Venusio and it's
picked up by Potter behind the net.
Speaker 2 (02:15:05):
Here is Eden.
Speaker 7 (02:15:07):
Eden nearly gave it away at the blue line, picked
up by Landy. Potter enters the zone on the left side,
Potter toward goals, skating behind the net, Potter still with
it at the point is Harvey.
Speaker 6 (02:15:19):
Here's Harvey shoots nice into the glow, nice wrist shot
from the mid slot. Yeah, and Corona made on ice
glove save on.
Speaker 2 (02:15:29):
Her gosh green, He's seventy one shots on.
Speaker 6 (02:15:31):
Good I know, I can't believe what I'm seeing. Yeah, goodness.
Speaker 7 (02:15:33):
Yeah, I mean, that's something you see reminds me of
that five overtime game in the playoffs a few years
ago with Columbus and Tampa.
Speaker 2 (02:15:41):
You saw that in five overtime.
Speaker 6 (02:15:42):
How about a three period game regulation. It's not even
a complete three period yet.
Speaker 7 (02:15:47):
Yeah, still four minutes to play here in the third.
Can the Badgers get their record breaking seventeen scannal fighting
for in the corner. Sokka picks it up behind the net.
Her sister scored an ice goal a few moments ago.
Soccer turns it over. Here's Edwards over to Scannal. Scandal
shoots and she scores and it's record breaking.
Speaker 2 (02:16:07):
Seventeen goals in the game. It's the most in a
single game in Wisconsin women's hockey history.
Speaker 6 (02:16:15):
I tell you in you don't you know, you don't
see this very well at all. You don't see it.
Speaker 3 (02:16:21):
I mean, we never have.
Speaker 6 (02:16:22):
No, it's a first. But yeah, it's probably not the
most riveting game for a fan to watch. But no,
that's just looking for the good things out of it.
Speaker 2 (02:16:34):
Yeah, and it's good to see Maggie Scannal back on
the score.
Speaker 6 (02:16:39):
Shoot.
Speaker 7 (02:16:40):
Yeah for Wisconsin. There's Vasser now it comes free out
of the zone. It's chipped out by Stonehill Wise gets
it into the badger zone.
Speaker 2 (02:16:54):
Here's Jungles gives it away to Sokka. Had a beautiful
goal a couple of moments ago.
Speaker 7 (02:16:58):
Throws that one toward goal just wide of ben net,
picked up by Wise. Here's Harvey now, Caroline Harvey twisting
and turning. Harvey's still with it gets taken down tried
to make the play and she draws a penalty in
the process. And to add insult to injury, Badgers are
going on the power play with three minutes to go.
Oh boy, could they get an eighteen?
Speaker 6 (02:17:19):
I mean, I can't even believe you're saying that, but uh,
that's a factual statement. It's a possibility.
Speaker 2 (02:17:27):
It's true.
Speaker 19 (02:17:28):
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:17:28):
I was kind of joking when I said they were
gonna get twenty.
Speaker 3 (02:17:30):
I don't think they they will, but.
Speaker 2 (02:17:32):
Oh my wow.
Speaker 6 (02:17:36):
Well I'm glad Harvey wasn't hurt or anything. She got
taken down there.
Speaker 2 (02:17:39):
And yeah, that would be I mean, that's just yeah,
you know.
Speaker 6 (02:17:42):
What, people getting hurt in a game that slapsided or
not any game for that matter.
Speaker 7 (02:17:46):
Here's Murphy Venusio riffs one off the glove of Karen
and into the netting ye back behind.
Speaker 6 (02:17:52):
Big one timer from the right point. She's got a
lot on it.
Speaker 2 (02:17:56):
We know she can definitely shoot the puck.
Speaker 7 (02:17:58):
Yeah, and she shot it a little more often in
the past few games, definitely this season more so than
last season. Picard being pressed up against the boards gets
it free and right chasing Feenie gets it taken away
by en right, it's kept in. Here's Venusio. Venusio right
(02:18:20):
point across to en Right. En Right shoots it saved,
rebound is loose. En Right gets it to Venusio rips
the shot blocker stop by Karen. Now here's Picard Marion.
Picard in the corner now gets it to en Right,
and it was deflected off a stick and out of
the zone. Two nineteen to go. Here in regulation, Badger's
(02:18:42):
on the power play for a minute fifteen. Venusio in
the corner picks it up stretch Ice passed to find Halverson.
Here's Scannal. Scandal shoots gobbled up by Alexa Karen with
two minutes to play, in a minute left in the
player advantage. And that was shot number seventy four. Oh
(02:19:07):
my goodness, incredible.
Speaker 6 (02:19:10):
Yeah, we got Scannal in the face off circle here,
see if she wins a draw convert yet on a
power play opportunity.
Speaker 7 (02:19:17):
Here is Potter up the middle at the blue line,
goes across the Scannal down low Eden. He loses it
in the corner, gets it right back Scannal left point
down low Eden. Eden back to Scannal. Scannal rips the
shot wide of the goal, picked up opposite side by Jones.
Jones on the right side tries to keep the zone
(02:19:38):
on her knees to make the play and does.
Speaker 2 (02:19:40):
Zillis sends that one down, so he'll try to clear
and they can.
Speaker 7 (02:19:45):
Minute and a half to go here, thirty seconds left
in the power play for Wisconsin. Jones up to Scannal.
Scannal chasing it down behind the net. Fuck comes free
Zillish trying to pick it up, and it's cleared again
by stone Hill, picked up by Laney Potter. Potter driving
(02:20:08):
through the neutral zone and into the Skyhok zone. Here's
Potter lifts one off the side of the goal. Yeah,
as it's brought down by Scannal. Final minute of the period.
Out of the box comes Palsa. Scannal has it in
the corner. Scannal tried to get it back in front
of the net, but couldn't do so. Final forty five
(02:20:29):
seconds of regulation. Palsa tries to clear the zone, still
can't do it. Scannal gets taken down. Oh no, she's
she seems to be okay. Thankfully. That was a hold
your breath moment. She's gonna stay on the ice as well.
Speaker 6 (02:20:44):
So in the process there of the Stonehill player broke
her shit in half.
Speaker 2 (02:20:50):
So here is scandal. Now seems to be okay.
Speaker 7 (02:20:52):
It's got the puck now on the left side, Scannal,
turned it over, gets it right back though Maggie's scannal
toward goal.
Speaker 2 (02:20:59):
It's the reflected by Vassar in front and why to
the net.
Speaker 7 (02:21:03):
Jones sends one toward goal again wide and Stonehill trying
to clear.
Speaker 2 (02:21:08):
They can't do it all alone.
Speaker 7 (02:21:09):
Is Halverson denied at once by Karen in the final
three seconds, and that will do it, and the Wisconsin
Badgers have won the Guitar Trophy here in Nashville with
a record breaking performance seventeen goals in a game.
Speaker 2 (02:21:25):
For the first time in program history.
Speaker 7 (02:21:28):
Greeny's seventy seven shots to goal incredible stuff.
Speaker 6 (02:21:31):
I've never seen a game this one sided. I hate
to see it. We did see some good performances out
of people, and nobody got hurt. We'll get away with
that and hopefully head back safely and face Ohio State
next weekend.
Speaker 2 (02:21:45):
There we go, Well, that's gonna do it.

and they do it in record breaking fashion, scoring seventeen
(02:24:17):
goals in the game, breaking the record of sixteen. They

seconds into the game.
Speaker 2 (02:26:38):
Bike shut up by Bella Soaka, one of the two
soccas on stone Hills. She gives it away behind her
own net though the centering past. A scarer.
