Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's the fuck that to the day. We make you
look smart and body this the fuck that to the day.
All right.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
I brought in some fun facts for you today, and
I thought we would continue because everything super Bowl is
trending right now. The super Bowl name was coined by
Lamar Hunt Senior. He founded the American Football League back
in the late fifties. The super Bowl was created because
it was a merger. There was there was something called
the NFL and there was the rival AFL. They brought

(00:33):
the two together. How did he come up with the
name super Bowl?

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Hal tell Us.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
He sent a letter to then commissioner Pete Roselle, and
he said, listen, I've kiddingly called it the super Bowl,
which is obviously something that can be approved upon.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
He typed that out.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
He just said, here's my proposal, and we're just kind
of the working title. We're just joking around calling it
the super Bowl. His children had been playing with a
bouncy super Bowl. No way, when he came.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Up with the term super Bowl, that's neat.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
The guy that came up with the name even said
he Lamar Hunt Senior even said, it's a little corny,
but it looks like we're stuck with it now. Super
Bowl it wasn't officially called the super Bowl until Super
Bowl three in nineteen sixty nine. But the other things
that they were kind of talking about was the World
Series of Football, the Ultimate Bowl, and the Premiere Bowl.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
That is fun, whoa all right?

Speaker 2 (01:34):
And then finally the Superstar super Bowl halftime show Bat
Bunny of course last time. It's a lot more modern.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Than I think most of you realize.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
The first major headliner was New Kids on the Block
in nineteen ninety one.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
That's neat glad the jet pack.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Don't forget the jet pack, and I was Super Bowl
twenty five New Kids on the Block two years later.
Michael Jackson became the first to turn it into like
the spectacle that it is. But before that, there was
a jet pack. There were marching bands, there was an
occasional special guest. There was I don't know, Carol Channing
was singing when the Saints go marching in I don't know.
It's terrible, just terrible, low fi super Bowl halftime shows.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
It's got fuck that to the day we make you
look smart in front of your body's it's the fuck
that to the day
