Speaker 1 (00:00):
One or six points have ATLINFM. I'm Cubby along with Christine.
We got produce a Christian in the background. And uh,
all right, forget that Friday. That's right, it's Friday.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
And what it does to our brains.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Well, yeah, I can't remember what's going.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
On and brain's all scrambled. Cobby.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
First of all, there is Black Friday coming up. But
aren't there a million Black Fridays. I've been seeing quote
black Friday sale.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Well they've been like kind of this weekend, jumping in early.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Yeah, there's always a sale going on the kind of,
but you.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Know, Black Friday is a big one, and according to research,
it actually does something to our brains. Thank you, because
this helps me understand it a little bit better. When
it's sold to you, as there is a time crunch,
there's only a few left your brain, the decision making
part of your brain gets impulsive and feels like it
(00:50):
needs to act fast, and so you jump and you
buy something, especially if you feel there's scarcity, right and
there's a big value.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Ice.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
This happened to me this weekend. Man.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
The advertisers are pouncing on they know what they're doing.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Yes, I was looking at something and you know how,
like the websites kind of keep track and then you
get an email like we saw you taken a look
at this. Yeah, and then it said act fast, only
a few left and boom, like I bought it hook
line and sinker it got you. I was like, there's
only a few, I better get it.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
And they do that on TV still, like if you
see a TV.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Commercial, yeah, act now, act fast. Yeah, only a couple left.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
This is the commercial in like two more weeks, only
a couple left. Yeah, that would have been gone by now.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Only good for these twenty four hours. Oh in those
and the following. So black Friday deals very exciting, like
when you go to the store as well. But to
avoid the Black Friday trap, you need to take a pause.
You need to not feel the pressure, give yourself a minute,
let your brain catch up. There's some excitement going on there,
and say to yourself that you need to focus. Would
(01:53):
I really want this if it weren't on sale?
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Well, that's the problem.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
That's the big question you must ask yourself.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Comes down to self control and getting a chance to
pause and say those words yourself.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Right.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
But we all act on immediacy, and we do immediacy it.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Is now yeah. Yeah. And also when you're in the
store and you see and I've witnessed this as well,
you see people grabbing stuff, like we talk about the
Trader Joe's bags and the Starbucks cup, and you feel like,
I'd better get that. It's my only chance. It's it
just it's I'm gonna try and do what it says.
But it is a challenge.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
And who knows, Like the Trader joe bags, maybe the
Trader joe people are just putting them away in the
back for a couple of hours, so you think, you know.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
No, I have to asked the Trader Joe's people, and
they say they're not. They put them all out and
when they're gone, they're gone.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
But do you really know, I believe them if a
tree falls in the woods.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Then then we don't know. I believe that there were
only one or two barristas per store and they're just gone.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
You're still looking for the barriers.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
They live on eBay. No out of principle, Cubby, because
they're on eBay and they're so expensive, and I just
feel like.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
No, no, you mean abe right, yes, I mean exactly.
We have to talk about that story.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
One day, did we were talking about that story that
we do commercials here and that we get pronunciation keys.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Yeah, but one day you were doing a commercial for
ebab and they put a phonetic spelling for.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
You and e Bay not a bae. Oh thank you
because I was confused anyway.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Black Friday, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year,
Happy Kwanza, thank before you buy it. Deep Breath Light
