did a shutdown. Plus, we're not going to see those ramps.
Next time we see those ramps. It's going to be
hot outside and I'm going to be perfectly well, all

If you're coming over from the Heights or Garden Oaks
trying to get outbound, you're gonna have to go around
the loop and do a busting U turn. I'm Skymike

Are Tom Holman defending ICE agents after Dana bash on
Liberal CNN tried to confront him on arresting illegal alien criminals.

Speaker 6 (02:05):
It's just the aggressive tactics that we are seeing in
video after video. You're comfortable with those tactics that we're
all seeing with our own eyes.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Look.

Speaker 7 (02:14):
Threats on ICE officers up twelve percent.

Speaker 5 (02:17):
Adding that agents have been docks and are getting death
threats daily. Meantime, the left is telling New Yorkers to
continue protesting ICE. This is incoming New York City mayor
the socialist zoron mumdani yours a constitutional right to put
us there.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
We will protect that.

Speaker 8 (02:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
That video on X in Washington, President Trump, but the

President Zelensky hasn't yet read the proposal that was as
of a few hours ago.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
His people love it, but he has it. Russia's fine
with it. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff met with Vladimir Putin
and Ukrainian officials separately last week. The president is shifting
his main focus to the economy, beginning a nationwide tour
this week to promote his agenda. Political analyst Jeff Krueer

(03:12):
says Trump wants to seize the economic narrative ahead of
the midterms.

Speaker 10 (03:17):
The economy that is always the number one issue in elections,
and it certainly was a big factor in the Democrat
victories in November because of the affordability was the buzzword,
and I think he wants to tackle that head on
the affordability issue.

Speaker 5 (03:29):
The tour starts in Pennsylvania. It's now five ZHO three.
Today is deadline day in Texas. As candidates must file
if they want to be on the ballot for the

Although the biggest decision has already been made by the
US Supreme Court, which ruled that Texas can use the
Trump backed congressional map.

Speaker 12 (03:49):
The map is in place for next year. The new
map that is a projected five feet pickup for Republicans.

Speaker 11 (03:56):
That's Brad Johnson, senior reporter for The Texan that.

the incumbent Republican John Cornick, who has introduced a bill
that would make bad guys attacking cops eligible for the
death penalty.

Speaker 13 (04:34):
This hopefully provides some deterrence and demonstrates our respect for
law enforcement.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
The Back to Blue Act has the backing of just
about every police union. It's a good beat. Democrats won't
sign on to it, of course. They also claim that
the forty four percent decline in mass killings is that
a reason to be optimistic.

Speaker 14 (04:55):
They try to claim gun violence is still high, but
really it's all about Paul politics.

Speaker 15 (05:00):
They want to take great news and make it good news,
take good news and make it poor news. The main
thing is, of course, they don't want Trump's crackdown on
crime to get any credit. A. W. R.

Speaker 14 (05:11):
Hawkins of Breitbart says the real problem is they can't
praise anything positive Trump does, and they're playing up common shootings.

Speaker 15 (05:19):
None of these really shit the template for what the
left has historically called a mass shooting.

Speaker 14 (05:25):
He says they're fudging the numbers to keep the gun
control debates alive.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
On to rape Rarden News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
Another after hours club rated in Houston over the weekend,
this one in third Ward, multiple arrests were made on
various charges. The same homeless issue that has plagued the
city for years is now spreading out into unincorporated parts
of Harris County. Officials are trying to deal with the problem.

Speaker 8 (05:50):
We've got agencies who've got nonprofit through help folks.

Speaker 5 (05:53):
Sometimes they don't want help. We will deal with that on.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
The case by case basis.

Speaker 8 (05:57):
But at the end of the day, you just can't
set up a house, up a encampment any place you
want to.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
Increasing three Republican Commissioner Tom Ramsey says that, but business
and property owners are warning about future impact if this
is not handled. The cities of Conroe and Paarland turned
out to have some of the highest property taxes in
the country. That is, even with all of the property
tax relief passed in Austin, well.

Speaker 16 (06:23):
A lot of it is actually just being washed out
by the overblown assessments that are being provided by these
local municipalities.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
Political consultant la Davidiot there it's now five oh sixty Houston,
Texans when they're fifth in a row beating the chiefs
in Kansas City twenty to ten head coach Tamiko Ryans.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
It's a good win.

Speaker 5 (06:44):
It's a win.

Speaker 17 (06:45):
I'll take a win no matter who it's against. I'll
take a win. And I know every time we win,
we improve our position. So that's what is about this year,
winning when we need to win and improve in our position.

Speaker 9 (06:56):
Right to get in a race.

Speaker 18 (06:57):
C J.

Speaker 5 (06:57):
Stroud through for two hundred and three yards in a

Cliff Saunders on Houston's news, weather and traffic station News
Radio seven forty k t RH. In any events, a socialist.

Speaker 19 (07:12):
New York City government back opens, challenging Trump's tarim checky
and the latest use Radio seven k t r H
five oh seven are time.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Good morning, back from Trump Derell. I thought I would
share a little bit of experience with you. First. First
of all, I want you to understand I am not bragging.
I'm I'm not trying to brag. Well, I wouldn't play
the Blue Monster, but it made me realize something. There
are some places that you go and some things that you.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
Do where.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Money is really important. You know where you would just go.
I would never spend that kind of money to do
that to to their credit at Trump Deral, I was
there doing things I would not normally do, spending money
I would not normally spend. I mean nothing there is cheap.

(08:13):
I bought a golf hat. It was sixty four bucks
for a golf hat, and I didn't even blink. Luckily
for me, I've got good friends who played who paid
for the round we played on the Blue Monster cared
to guess how much that cost to Trump Derral. This
one eighteen whole round of golf on a very difficult

(08:36):
course that will kick your ass and laugh at you
the entire time you're playing it. And for that privilege
of getting beaten down by a golf course, they charged
right around six hundred bucks of person. That's for one round,
eighteen holes. You do the math on that one. But

(08:57):
then I thought to myself, Okay, yeah, that it's kind
of ridiculous. But the place was packed, and not with
people that were very good golfers. I was better than
most of the golfers I saw, and I haven't picked
up the clubs in almost two years. But they were
happy to drag their carcasses around that course just to

(09:17):
say they'd played it just to say they'd been there,
just to get little you know, Trump toral ballmarkers, just
to get a blue Monster shirt or a Blue Monster hat,
just to say they did it. You know what, I think,
to a lesser extent, that is true of all of
us in our lives. Right There are some things that

(09:40):
if you had the chance to do it, the premium
would be so high you would never ever normally consider
spending that kind of money. But just getting access to
something you always have wanted to do, the bververbial bucket
list item, people will spend big money on that. So
here's my question today for you, what is that item

(10:01):
for you? I realized that Bunny is always an object
for all of us. But you know, if push came
shop and you had to spend stupid money that you
would not only spend, what would you spend it on
to do that one thing you've always wanted to do,
or go to that one place you've always wanted to go.
For example, if you're a golfer, if somebody said to you,

(10:22):
give me one thousand dollars and I'm going to put
you on augustin National where they play the Masters, would
you do it? Yeah? You probably would if you're a golfer,
would you five? Ten? Time for traffic and whether together.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
We wanted to tour all the classic baseball parks like
one summer and you know, go to like Bush, Saint
Louis and of course Tiger Stadium.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
There's a small problem with that one, doesn't it. Jimmy
and Wriggling and all that. So that was yeah, I
mean think about all that. You've got airfare, you've got
the hotel accombinations, game tickets and all that stuff. Yeah,
I've never been the same way.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
All right, So let's head to it ten. Now we
have it open ish. We've got two lanes and that's
all we're gonna get. Folks, I want you to double
check my work here for me, because I'm looking from
if you're playing.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
The home game, I'm looking at camera three zero five.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
What I've got and according to what I was told
is that we've got two lanes and that's it.

Speaker 5 (11:14):
Two lanes on the outbound.

Speaker 4 (11:16):
Katie Freeway from forty five out to Studiomont And that's
got to be a lifestyle all the way through the summer,
so all the way through the mid of the summer.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
So check my work.

Speaker 13 (11:25):
Here.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
Make sure that I've got two lanes on the KD
Freeway outbound between forty five and Studamont. All right, two
ninety outbound at thirty fourth. Nothing good's happening here. This
has been a shutdown. I don't know how long it's
been like this, but it's completely closed westbound coming off
of six ten. So go ahead and stay the course
on six' ten itself and busting you turn down At woodway.

Speaker 5 (11:47):
And you Can, oh you can't do. That you can't do.
That let's see.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
Better let's head. Up let's do THE Kd freeway. Instead
for now that you're, alternate you can Do Himstein. Highway
just stay the course with those. Lights i'm Sky mike

bit surprised by some of the holidays shopping Figures i'm. Seeing,
oh by the, way the question, today you know how
to participate right? It just in case you, Don't and
AGAIN i kind of brought it up with my Little
trump derout trip over the. Weekend if you have something

(13:09):
that is kind of like on your short list where
if you had the opportunity to do. It you would
not normally have the opportunity to do, it but if you,
did you would spend big money to do, it or
what you would consider big money to, be just because
you'd never have the chance to do it. Again what
would that thing? Be you go to the iHeart, ready
we HAVE, ktrh hit the talk back button of the thirty,
seconds first name and where you're calling, from and that

(13:31):
thing or things that you would want to.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
Do all. Right what has really surprised, me AS i
was starting to, say is that it's looking like holidays
sales are holding. Up holiday sales are holding. UP i
really thought that we were going to have like a
big push On Black Friday Cyber monday and then the
sales would just fall. Off so, far they haven't fallen.
Off so. Far it's, looking at least for, retail is

(13:55):
like a very good holiday. Season the question is how
are we affording all? This Kevin lurry on being careful
with that credit card coming up? Next first, though at
five forty traffic and whether it together it started to you,
skybine all.

Speaker 5 (14:07):
Right we're zooming in on two ninety at thirty.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Fourth this is, outbound not, inbound and they are letting
some people.

Speaker 5 (14:13):
Through they haven't opened the whole.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
Thing i'm wondering if they're just bleeding off the people
that were stuck in the, backup and if they're going
to keep investigating. Here so hold the fourth down two.
Ninety just keep considering it closed at forty thirty fourth
and let's take it ten. Instead you wouldn't think of a
back ROAD tc gesture to forty. Third i'll get you around.
That i'd rather do that Than Hempstead highway any, day all,
Right Katie. Freeway check my work outbound forty. Five i'm

Speaker 3 (15:59):
Appy twenty three at a time here In houston's morning.
News all, right, yeah we're putting a lot of things
for the holidays on our credit. Cards not probably not
the best thing to, do but we're doing it, evidently
maybe that's why holiday sales are so. High maybe we're
doing it with the best of. Intentions we'll just pay

(16:20):
it off after the, holidays or as soon AS i
can after, holidays and hopefully that's that's the. Case everybody
wants to have a Nice. CHRISTMAS i get. It KEVIN.
O larry saw him On Fox business talking about the
excuses that we always use of why we're going to
spend that money even though we really don't have that
money to. Spend and also he actually has a very

(16:43):
good idea in here for what kind of credit card
you need to have for things like paying those subscription.
Bills Here's Kevin.

Speaker 21 (16:51):
Olllary so what happened on Precedents at over two hundred
and eight million people bought online Between Black friday And
cyberne D that's never happened.

Speaker 5 (17:01):
Before and the reason it occurred partly WAS.

Speaker 21 (17:03):
Ai it was able to generate offers knowing your history
of buying in an unprecedented way on, TikTok On instagram
and all the. Platforms it was really well done this.
Year now a lot of people use credit card, debt
which is a two edge.

Speaker 5 (17:20):
Sort AS i always, say.

Speaker 21 (17:22):
If you buy something and you pay it, Off you've
done yourself a huge. Favor you have not paid any
interests to carry on. It you've advanced your credit score
because during this holiday period you tend to put twenty
to thirty percent more average spending during this period From
thanksgiving through to the end of The christmas, holiday and

(17:42):
so you really want to have a plan to pay
that off or you're paying twenty three percent interest on.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
It and that is.

Speaker 21 (17:48):
Stupid so this is the, balance AND i think even
though an extra billion dollars went into, it we've had
credit cards in society for a long, time and if
you know how to manage, it it actually helps you over.
Time the one other THING i noticed lately WHICH i
don't like to see is when young people, cohabitate even

(18:08):
when they don't get, married they go to one. Card that's.
Crazy somebody gives up their financial. Identity the only way
you adventu your credit card score In america is to
pay off your credit.

Speaker 5 (18:18):
Card, yes that's. It and so this is.

Speaker 21 (18:20):
A bad trend and the last one this. Year too
many people putting all their cards. Online never do. That
only have one with a limit of twenty five hundred
dollars on. It that, way when you get, hacked that's
the max you.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
Lose that's.

Speaker 5 (18:34):
Smart and then it's very. Interesting ALWAYS i have.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
A trash, CARD i call.

Speaker 21 (18:39):
It everybody has, It netflix has, It amazon has, it
but it bounces at twenty five.

Speaker 22 (18:45):
Hundred.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
Interesting that seems like common. Sense but to be honest with,
You i'd never really thought of that idea of just
just HAVE i do do that with just having one
card for those types of. Things But i'm pretty sure
the limits a lot more than twenty five hundred. Hundred
MAYBE i need, To As kevin o'luria, says get a trash.
Card five twenty, six it's time to take another look

(19:06):

The National Football league or what has become our national
pastime because football is more popular than. Baseball it really
is our national. Pastime SO i guess if we're gonna
have some fun and play along with, it then we
should probably think to, Ourselves, okay, well if there's some
merit and it makes more sense that you would call

soccer football because, well first of, all the rest of

News radio SEVEN. Ktrh how do you feel about the.
Future do you think the future looks? Good The president
thinks the future looks. Good all of his aides seem
to think the future looks. Good Scott bessen and the
Like Kevin. Hassett they're all touting the economy for twenty twenty,
six and evidently The president's planning a nationwide blitz to

(33:42):
tout his economic agenda and to talk about the quote
unquote affordability. Crisis Jeff creerer JOINS us political analyst and
the podcast. Host let's let's start with this whole, Idea,
jeff that we have an affordability. Crisis do you buy?

Speaker 33 (34:00):
That, WELL i, MEAN i do think we're still recovering
From biden. COMICS i, mean we had four years of
really a tough, economy AND i mean inflation got up
to nine, percent which is the highest in forty, years
and you, know interest rates, Served SO i mean presidents

(34:21):
only had ten, months ten plus months to really try
to rectify the problems That biden, caused and it takes
a little bit of. Time SO i, MEAN i do
understand people are hurting and they're still i mean, Recovering
BUT i don't think he is the culprit. Here of,
course you know when he left office the first, time
remember interest rates were low and inflation was one point four,

(34:43):
percent and then of Course biden gets in there and
things go.

Speaker 3 (34:46):
Crazy, well the PROBLEM i have is that there wasn't
an affordability, crisis at least not with the mainstream media
until this president took. Office they never once talked about
an affordability crisis during The biden.

Speaker 33 (34:58):
Years that's exactly, right and went. Well inflation was nine.
Percent they weren't talking about an affordability. Crisis you're, right
AND i mean they did their best to cover For Joe.
Biden so, NOW i mean that's the. BUZZWORD i, mean
that's how The democrats did so well in the elections In.
November and just you, know a few days ago they

(35:20):
were able to cut The republican margin in a conservative
district in, half and you, know they really feel like
they've got the momentum going into the midterms using this.
Term so, yeah the president needs to get out there
and tell The american people what he's doing and really
focus on this issue BECAUSE i think it's a winning
issue for. Them but you, know they need to really

(35:41):
put the time in to go around the country and
that's what he's. Doing he's starting In pennsylvania and there'll
be other. EVENTS i think it's a good. IDEA i do.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
TOO i wonder About, pennsylvania, though why do you think
he Picked pennsylvania for the first.

Speaker 33 (35:52):
STOP i, mean my, gosh that is the battleground. STATE i,
mean it's such a toss up. STATE i, mean you've
got to you got A republican, senator you get A democrat.
GOVERNOR i, mean it's.

Speaker 13 (36:03):
Always up for, grabs always very very.

Speaker 33 (36:06):
Close SO i MEAN i think that's where he wants
to start BECAUSE i think he feels like he's got
work to, do and that's a good state really to
sort of test some of these messages THAT i think
they're going to be trying in other, states And i'm
sure they'll spend time in what's called the battleground. STATES i,
mean remember he won all the battleground states in twenty twenty,

(36:27):
four But republicans have had a hard, time you, know replicating.
That SO i, mean as a supporter of his and
one who believes he's doing a good, JOB i really
help he's.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
SUCCESSFUL i think you're probably right about. THAT i think
Probably michigan is on the, List, OHIO a lot of
Those midwestern states are probably on the. List those are
the states that are hurting the, worst at least generally
hurt the worst because they generally had most of the manufacturing,
jobs right and they're the ones that have been decimated for.

Speaker 33 (36:57):
YEARS i mean that they're the ones that have seen you,
know the factories leave and all the manufacturing leave and
they're the ones that have really.

Speaker 13 (37:05):
Suffered and also you've had the out.

Speaker 33 (37:07):
Migration you've had people leave those states because of you,
know lack of. Opportunities so people have known family members
who have left the state and they realize it's been you,
know a state that it really hasn't done as well
as let's Say texas or or a state that's another
state that's, booming Obviously.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
Florida so, YEAH i think it's going.

Speaker 33 (37:27):
To be an important sort of test to see how this.
Goes BUT i, MEAN i really, THINK i, mean The
president says it's a. HOAX i really think there are
people out there that are.

Speaker 3 (37:38):
Hurting it's just the.

Speaker 33 (37:40):
Hoax is it's The republican's, Fault It's President trump's.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
FAULT i think that's that's the. HOAX i think you're
right about. That, jeff thanks for joining. Us good to

Humble RELIABLE ktrh traffic and. Weather next on the ten

News Energy. Affordability we have a lot of stories about

(50:57):
affordability of this. Morning energy affordability is one of the those.
Things you may have gotten some very high priced electric
bills this summer for YOUR AC i noticed That i'm
always surprised at how much it costs every month for natural.
Gas you would think that would be relatively, cheap but

(51:18):
my last bill, was LIKE i want to, say it
was the better part of three hundred. Bucks, now GRANTED
i have a pool that you, KNOW i had the heater,
going but still it seems like a lot to.

Speaker 12 (51:27):
Me.

Speaker 3 (51:28):
Anyway david holdwal, Joins president Of Consumer Energy, alliance about
where we're at with the price of energy and where
he thinks we might be. Going we'll do that, next

Speaker 3 (52:57):
Weather next on the, ten don't touch the live. Wire
six twenty two is our time here In houston's boring
to is whether you're talking about electricity natural. Gas the
one area where it is REALLY i think inexpensive right
now is. GASOLINE i got gas last. Week what WOULD

(53:18):
i pay to nineteen a? Gallon nineteen blobborg expensive in
other states with higher gas. Taxes when we were In
florida where we give it was like three o NINE
i think for gallon the gas In, miami BUT i
was mentioning my natural gas bill that was pretty. High
my electricity bill FOR ac this summer is a little

(53:40):
higher Than i've seen in a. While David holt JOINS
us president Of Consumer Energy. ALLIANCE i feel like we're
getting a mixed message here on. Energy. David we've got
a really cheap gasoline right, now but the other stuff
not so, cheap you, know you know it.

Speaker 26 (53:54):
IS i, mean we've talked about affordability now on your
show for, years and it's you, know with natural, gas electricity,
prices we're seeing inventories are down just a little bit.

Speaker 3 (54:04):
Demand is, up so the.

Speaker 26 (54:06):
Economy that's a signal for the economy in a. Way
so you, know that's why we're seeing a little bit
higher natural gas. Prices electricity prices are really you, know
that's a state by state issue more than anything. Else
those states that have good energy, policies states similar To,
texas are generally paying a little bit less for. Electricity
those states that have been kind of draconian in their

(54:28):
energy policy that you, know they have, restrictions they've restricted natural,
gas they've banned our stopped, pipelines they've kind of gone
all in on certain forms of energy and restricted. Others
those states are paying a lot. More california And New,
York New, jersey The northeast, States New england, states things like.
That so there's more of a diversity or a delta

(54:51):
between the states on electricity prices now than we've ever
seen in a, while. Certainly and then you're exactly, right
gasleene diesel prices great story, There so you, know consumers
are getting a lot of relief at the. PUMP i
think national average now is around two sixty five or.
So but then In, california you're still paying over six

(55:11):
dollars a. Gallon so you, know there's there's. Policies state
policies are really showing their ugly. Head and those states
that get energy right are are are are paying less for,
energy and those states that are clearly have had, wrong
illogical energy policies are paying.

Speaker 3 (55:28):
MORE i think our Friend Chuck devor over at The
Texas Public Policy foundation thinks that once the big Beautiful
bill really goes into affect this upcoming, year that that's
going to help with energy. Prices do you? AGREE i think.

Speaker 26 (55:40):
SO i mean one thing we can look back. On you,
know from day one of The trump, administration they declared
a National Energy.

Speaker 3 (55:46):
Emergency they saw, that you, know.

Speaker 26 (55:48):
Energy, policies regulations in the previous administration and a lot
of states we're just. Wrong so let's let's free up
the energy. Industry let's remove some of these redundant and
uns serve. Regulations and with, that we've really seen gasoline
diesel prices going on going. Down with, Electricity we've got
a couple of things going. On we, one right, now

(56:09):
we have demand is, up but we also have the data,
center THE ai revolution that's just getting, started and that's
really going to increase a lot of electricity demand in
a very short amount of. Time so states AND dc
have to get ahead of. That and there's a little
bit of probably speculation going on our anticipation of more

(56:30):
demand coming and that's probably playing a little bit in
these prices for. Electricity but you, know we're gonna Be
it's gonna be really interesting to see what The texas
legislature does in the next session because we're gonna have
a lot of data centers coming online here In, texas
so we've got to get ahead of that as well.

Speaker 3 (56:47):
Well and we're hopelessly behind right. Now i've been calling
for years AND i know you probably are feeling the
same way that we just have to build more reliable
energy plants of natural gas plants and other things to
produce energy here In, texas and we're just not getting it.

Speaker 26 (57:00):
Done we're Really you're exactly, right and you, know, listen
we've also got to recognize that there are groups out
there that have said no to natural gas, pipelines that
have said no to expanded for expansions for, refineries that
have said no to new natural gas plants or added
natural gas. Plants So we've got to change our permitting

(57:21):
system at the state level and In washington to limit
the ability for endless litigation to stop these this new
construction for energy projects that's really getting baked into our
costs right. Now we need to recognize, that and policymakers
need to get ahead of, it all, Right David, holton thank.
You always good to hear from. You February.

Speaker 3 (57:41):

Speaker 3 (01:06:09):
Six thirty. Eight our time here In Houston's Morning. News all,
right my question today comes from my experience At Trump.
DRAL i was invited by the Two, pauls two friends
of mine From virginia Named paul to take a spot
that it opened up at the last. Minute thanks my
Boss brian for letting. Go he gets a sixty four

(01:06:30):
Dollars Blue monster hat for having done. That, yeah sixty
four bucks for a. Hat The Blue monster was like
almost six hundred bucks a person to. PLAY i, mean just,
really you, KNOW i haven't picked up these clubs in
like almost two. Years, Right, Okay i'll. GO i like

(01:06:50):
hacking with you. Guys i'll, go and truth be, TOLD
i didn't hit that, bad and especially considering how long
it been SINCE i. Played you, know the short game
wasn't so. GREAT i kind of lost my. Touch but you,
know it kind of got me excited about playing golf,
again and that's a good. Thing so there's a lot
of reasons WHY i did, it a lot of reasons
WHY i might do it. Again but here's the. Thing

(01:07:14):
sometimes in your, life you, know Good lord, willing you
can afford to do, it you run into an opportunity
to do something you didn't think you'd have the chance to,
do and you will find a way to make that.
Happen you. Know one of the biggest things that happened
here was when The university Because i'm a born and
raised A michigan football, fan when The university Of michigan

(01:07:34):
was playing In houston for The National, Championship, RIGHT i
mean how many? Times that's a once in a lifetime
thing for me to go to something like. That AND
i had the chance to, go you, know thanks thanks
to a friend who got me. In OTHERWISE i wouldn't
have had the chance to. Go So i'm, wondering what
is that thing in your, world you know where you'd

(01:07:57):
say money be, Damned i'm going to do. THIS i
never have a chance to do. It if you're a,
Golfer like if somebody calls you up and, said, HEY
i can get you on a if you buy a
plane ticket and get a hotel room and you got
whatever amount of MONEY i can get you ON Augusta
national to play the same course they play The masters.
On if you're a, golfer you'd want to do, that,

(01:08:17):
right what's that one thing for? You go to the
iHeartRadio WIF, ktrh hit the talkback button and let me
know what you.

Speaker 15 (01:08:23):
Think dave On Lake, Conrod, Yeah i'd like to do
a be it a front row seats at The Super
bowl with either The texas or The Denver.

Speaker 3 (01:08:33):
Broncos and, Uh i'll have my wife go with me
so she could pay for. It let her pay the
big money for. It, right what's that one thing for?

Speaker 5 (01:08:43):
You there was no, object AND i could do.

Speaker 3 (01:08:45):
IT i would love to do a takeoff and landing
in a military. Jet i'm an aircraft.

Speaker 15 (01:08:52):
Carrier this Is.

Speaker 9 (01:08:53):
Mike and now IF i had the, Money i'd have
a secret remote control install for the third, step and
it would also let me display any TEMPERATURE i wanted it.

Speaker 3 (01:09:06):
Too, okay that's very, specific isn't? It sixty time for
traffic and. Weather it's together work.

Speaker 5 (01:09:14):
And they're trying to be secretive about.

Speaker 3 (01:09:16):
It, no they're all kind Of i'll tell you what you.
MEAN i could you could they think you're playing golf or. Something,
YEAH i think you're. Right maybe it's a golf thing
that threw them.

Speaker 4 (01:09:25):

know it's a, freeway but it's too dark to. DRIVE
i saw this report on our television PARTNER kprc, too

(01:25:07):
AND i, THOUGHT i don't Think i've ever heard anybody
say that. Before there's a stretch where they're doing construction surprise,
surprise on The Grand parkway where the overhead lights aren't,
working the light standards aren't, working so it's really really
dark and there are people that are too afraid to drive.

(01:25:30):
It right, now here's the report for our television PARTNER kprc.

Speaker 37 (01:25:33):
Two we're at eastbound on ninety, nine just past The miski,
exit and as you can, see all of the lights
that like this area of The Grand parkway are. Out
the only reason you can see me is because of
our lighting. Kit but WHEN i turn it, out you
can tell it's pretty dark out. Here Renee crinshaw says,
she like many others in Northwest Harris, county runs her

(01:25:56):
errands before dark because once the sun goes, down light
on parts of the ninety nine toll way are nearly non.

Speaker 43 (01:26:03):
EXISTENT i only try to come out between nine am
and maybe four, pm because after that is. Dark and
if you come out after let's say seven pm to,
eleven it is totally. Dark you have to put your
rights on and that's also a hazard because other people
are coming towards you they might.

Speaker 5 (01:26:19):
Have bright lights.

Speaker 37 (01:26:20):
On, also text dot says this is all due to
a construction project widen roads in the. Area the zone
includes the state highway and frontage roads ON it ten
TO fm ten ninety. Three the lights in question are
included as part of this, project and though tech stot
says people can expect to see the lights operational within
the first three months of twenty twenty, six people in

(01:26:40):
the area say they need lighting.

Speaker 44 (01:26:42):
Now it has had a difference in accidents because every
time you go in that, area you can see that
the middle, cable the safety cable that divides the two
directions of the freeway is always tore, out which feeds
somebody is shouldn't you?

Speaker 37 (01:27:00):
It we fact check this information by using Text Dots
Crash Records Information. System from twenty twenty one to twenty twenty,
three six hundred and sixteen crashes happened on this stretch of,
roadway and for the next two years from twenty twenty
three to twenty twenty, five so far that number has
gone up by over two hundred crashes to eight hundred

(01:27:21):
and thirty. Six that's a thirty five percent. Increase though
officials cannot say it's this is directly attributable only to.

Speaker 43 (01:27:28):
Lighting we need something to be corrected before someone gets
hit or someone unfortunately gets.

Speaker 3 (01:27:33):

doesn't seem like it should be that. Hard seven, Eleven

Speaker 41 (01:33:00):
OUT i think, that like you, said it is a

that he has not picked up any momentum since launching

is in the race Is. Talerico and meanwhile you Have,
crockett who hasn't even jumped in the, race who has
gotten a lot of, momentum and she leads basically all

(01:33:20):
the polling that we've seen in that primary. Race so
the wrinkle there is that all The republicans are thankful
that she is jumping in the race because they feel
like she is a better opponent to run against given
her high negatives in the. Polling and so she might
jump in as the front runner for The Democratic party,
primary but the tough road, ahead AND i think she's

(01:33:43):
got something else up her sleeve with this rather than
just you, know running for. OFFICE i also heard last
night she's got A netflix deal with her, campaign so
she might have a camera crew follow her around at
her announcement later this.

Speaker 3 (01:33:59):
Afternoon would that not be Classic Jasmine. CROCKETT i, mean
that is just So Jasmine crockett to do, that wouldn't?

Speaker 12 (01:34:05):
It?

Speaker 13 (01:34:07):
Oh?

Speaker 29 (01:34:07):
Yeah for?

Speaker 3 (01:34:08):
Sure, wow talk about an attention horror and she is. It,
okay so you're, ASSUMING i guess that she's in the.
Race you think she's going to be announcing today she's
in the.

Speaker 41 (01:34:17):
Race, well first of, all she's scheduled a big.

Speaker 12 (01:34:22):
ANNOUNCEMENT i don't think she scheduled an announcement just to
refile for her house. Seats and then you see already dropping.
OUT i think all signs are pointing to her jumping
in the race for.

Speaker 3 (01:34:33):
Sure, yeah how did The Supreme court change this? Game
The Supreme court ruling that our redistrict game here In
texas is perfectly legal and, logical and that will. Stand
that certainly has to have some impact on who's running
and who isn't and where they're going to.

Speaker 12 (01:34:47):
Run, certainly so take up In. Dallas there are currently
three DEMOCRATIC Us house, seats and after, redistricting that's dropped
down to. Two so people have to make this. Decision
and for, example already the seat he's choosing to run,
for there is another Incumbent, Democrat Julie, johnson in already

(01:35:09):
filed for that.

Speaker 41 (01:35:09):
Seat and so, yeah he's avoiding a quote a bruising
primary at the top of the ticket in The, senate
but he's going to have a tough primary for THE
Us house in that race BECAUSE i don't See Julie
johnson just willingly giving up that.

Speaker 13 (01:35:22):
Seat So.

Speaker 41 (01:35:25):
Democrats have to make a lot more. Decisions we're seeing
that down In houston, too With Al green switching The
Bay excusing Eighteenth congressional district after His texas nine was
moved into A republican flip. Territory so because of the
fewer seats for Incumbent democrats to run, in they're having
to make. Decisions and some are, retiring some are, not

(01:35:46):
some are switching to different, seats and others were seeing
competitive primary is.

Speaker 12 (01:35:52):
Involved for some of these constricted.

Speaker 3 (01:35:55):
Seats what are some of the other races that you
see is maybe the most. Interesting i'm still fascinated with
what's going to happen in The republican primary for The senate.
Seat John cornyn has been just spending bucket loads of
money trying to line himself up as some sort of
A trump, advocate when in reality he's anything. BUT i

(01:36:17):
JUST i never got over the fact that When John
cornyn last ran for, reelection his campaign spots deemed it
didn't even mention that he's A. Republican he's A republican
when he chooses.

Speaker 41 (01:36:27):
To be, well he was dead in the water Around
April may of this year When Ken paxton jumped, in
and all that money has not put him into first,
Place i'd, say but it has closed the.

Speaker 5 (01:36:41):
Gap in terms of.

Speaker 41 (01:36:42):
Image now that has come in the context Of paxton
And hunts barely spending any money Attacking. Cornyn so once
we get, closer we will see the money that is
there come out for, that and those Negatives uncorn probably
increase where they haven't so far this year because he's

(01:37:03):
been just frankly the only one spending. Money so, yeah
of course that rate is going to be fascinating to.
Watch whoever the nominee, is you, know you have to
give it to The republican at least as a handicap
off the bat because the state has gotten a writer
since the last time this general dynamic popped up in twenty,

(01:37:25):
eighteen Where democrats do have a favorable environment to run
in next year in a, Midterm but this is still
it's Still. Texas it may not Be oklahoma in terms
of partisan, leaning but it is still A republican. Friendly
the other One i'm watching THAT i think is going
to be the most interesting is the attorney general. Race
and you've got Four republicans in. That you've got Two,

(01:37:45):
democrats actually Three, democrats and it's really.

Speaker 3 (01:37:48):
Wide open to see who is going to win.

Speaker 41 (01:37:51):
That on The republican, side you've Got Chip, roy who
has the highest NAME, id but then you've got Nath,
middleton who has a lot of money on kind of
the porn and play of spending himself into a runoff
and then runoff th a different, game so who knows
which way that. Goes you've also Got Aaron rights And
Joan huffman in that race as, Well but pound for,

(01:38:12):
POUND i think that's going to be the most interesting
race next.

taxes the government will come and. Take YOUR home so

(01:53:34):
i Like what The, Governor Of florida ron DeSantis is
proposing about a homestead exemption from. All property Taxes Here
is governor DeSantis on talking about This. Topic on fox.

Speaker 19 (01:53:45):
People are being pinched across the economy and a lot
of things and property taxes even though and it's All,
local in florida we don't get any at. The state
level we've tripled our rainy day fund set and can?
We cut taxes we have. No income tax we're doing,
fine the state but the local property tax says. Are
hurting people Twenty, nineteen in florida the total amount of
revenue for local government thirty two billion dollars from property.

Speaker 3 (01:54:07):
Text you know what it is now fifty.

Speaker 19 (01:54:08):
Six billion dollars that's, a massive increase so people.

Speaker 3 (01:54:12):
Are paying more so the issue is we're going To
focus on.

Speaker 19 (01:54:15):
Florida homesteaded residents now that's a fraction, of that, revenue
and honestly you would still have way more revenue than
you had. In twenty nineteen we're working through exactly how that's.
Going to, work of course we're going to make sure,
we have fire police and all. The core things but
the reality is these local governments have overspent and people
are paying more and, more for.

Speaker 3 (01:54:34):
That and at some point it's like when?

Speaker 5 (01:54:36):
Is enough enough WELL here's. What i know got to
get a lot of pushback from, the local.

Speaker 19 (01:54:40):
People well taxpayers we're getting a. LOT of, support i
mean like this is something that people. Been asking about but.
Think about it can you have a situation where every
five or six years you're increasing budgets. Fifty, sixty percent
now part of it was we did have A boom
with covid everyone Was, rushing to florida caused property values.
To go up but how is it that you buy
a home for three hundred and fifty thousand dollars and

(01:55:01):
then four years later they tell you it's worth a
million dollars and you've got to pay.

Speaker 5 (01:55:04):
More property tax.

Speaker 3 (01:55:05):
IT'S not, rice i understand but?

Speaker 5 (01:55:07):
How much buy how much can you?

Speaker 3 (01:55:09):
Cut, property taxes well our goals?

Speaker 5 (01:55:11):
So ten, percent, well.

Speaker 19 (01:55:12):
No no no our goal is To focus on florida
homesteaded residents and, eliminate for, them which, is you know
the majority of our.

Speaker 3 (01:55:20):
Revenue for property Tax is.

Speaker 19 (01:55:21):
Non florida residents because people, have second homes you have
people that buy it, in commercial property so it ends
up being about thirty percent. Of the revenue now you
may have to. Phase it in there's going to be
things we're. Going to do we're sensitive. TO all that
i want something, that CAN work and i want something,
that can pass and you need sixty percent.

Speaker 3 (01:55:36):
Of the voters.

Speaker 2 (01:55:37):
To pass it but if you've got a home, it
is homesteaded you got to eliminate the property tax.

Speaker 16 (01:55:43):
On that home.

Speaker 3 (01:55:43):
That's, the goal yeah you, eliminate, It, completely exactly yeah.
One hundred percent see the homestead home as you only,
do well know that's, where you live that. Is your
home and, if Your, STATE like florida i would love
to we should. Do Some comparisons I'm florida tourism i'm sure,
is you know head and shoulders about what we Get.

(01:56:03):
Here in texas so maybe we couldn't do it to
The extent that florida is looking. At doing it but
when only thirty percent of your property tax income is
coming from people who actually own a full time residence,
in the state and the seventy percent is, coming from
