Good morning, My good.
Speaker 5 (00:49):
Morning, mister Jimmy Barrett. Let's go downtown.
Speaker 6 (00:52):
UH some kind of pavement work we had on the
pier elevated northbound. That's forty five and that's one of
the easiest things to get around. Just do I sixty
nine the east text work your way around this way instead.
If you work downtown, just take the P's or Jefferson exit,
which you would normally do from forty five. Anyway that
makes sense, Mike, I ten, Do we have that roadwork
(01:13):
picked up? That was some outbound business around Mercury around
the loop and yep, that looks like that's up for
the morning. That's a big scunch at night. And I've
also got that backwards that is inbound. They'll do that
again tonight for your information. I'm in the USA Rbresorts
dot Com traffic Center.

couple of morning showers Claudie for the afternoon. With the
high temperature today right about eighty, looks like we're gonna
get some heavy rain coming in here on Friday. We'll
check that out when we talk to Terry Smith at

Here's Cliff Sanders.
Speaker 7 (01:57):
Thank you, Jimmy, and good morning everybody. Five on KTRH.
Our top story.
Speaker 8 (02:02):
They have no vision, no policy, that have nothing to sell,
but hate.
Speaker 7 (02:07):
That's Texas Governor Greg Abbott last night, responding to Democrat
Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, who is taking heat for making fun
of the governor.
Speaker 9 (02:16):
Y'all know we got governor high wheels down there, come
on now, and the only thing hot about him is
that he is a hot mess. Honey.
Speaker 7 (02:26):
That was Crockett, who is now trying to walk this back,
claiming she quote wasn't thinking about the governor's condition, but
she faces a censure resolution being introduced by Randy Weber,
another Texas Congressman, five Zho three on KTRH. President Trump
is backing National Security Advisor Michael Walls after the reported
(02:47):
group chat league about the airstrikes in Yemen. Waltz says
the buck stops with him.
Speaker 10 (02:52):
Staffer wasn't responsible, and look, I take full responsibility.
Speaker 5 (02:56):
I built the I built the group, Waltz with Fox's
Laura Ingram.
Speaker 7 (03:00):
As you would expect, Democrats tried to make more of
this than it really was.
Speaker 11 (03:04):
There was no classified material that was shared in that,
so there.
Speaker 12 (03:08):
Was no classifying in material. Share it with the committee.
You can't have it both ways. These are important jobs.
This is our national security.
Speaker 7 (03:17):
DN I Telsea Gabbert, interrupted by Democrat Virginia Senator Mark Warner. Yesterday,
American air strikes on the Huthis continue now in their
twelfth day, with the terrorists claiming responsibility for recent attacks
on American warships in the Red Sea. Elsewhere, Ukraine and
Russia agree to a ceasefire in the Black Sea. President
(03:39):
Trump says it'll take a lot of work to maintain
the deal.
Speaker 13 (03:42):
It's tremendous animosity. There's a lot of hatred, as you
can probably tell.
Speaker 7 (03:47):
The two sides will also work to ban military strikes
on energy facilities. The President also told Newsmax last night
his tariffs will probably be more quote lenient than reciprocal
when they go into effect next Wednesday, five oh four.
Here at home, a man runs from the scene of
a violent crash on the North Side, leaving behind his
(04:08):
injured wife and four children. Police say he was driving
his Ford Exposition at one hundred miles an hour when
he crashed into another car.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
I looked to my roomal FF for my signal nineties
c D.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Take Adam having a.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
Drive one hundred mile now down even road.
Speaker 7 (04:26):
That's the driver of the other car. With our TV
partner Channel two. One of the injured kids is in
critical condition. Looking at your money, The recession that never
happened is already over, Yet the mainstream media continues to
report or claim that the economy is verging on doomsday.
Right parts, John Carney says recent data shows the economy
(04:48):
is growing with jobs holding steady, but there is one risk.
Speaker 14 (04:52):
A lot of employment and a lot of spending was
coming out of the government rather than the private sector.
Speaker 5 (04:57):
That was unsustainable.
Speaker 13 (04:59):
Moving towards a free market.
Speaker 14 (05:01):
Driven, private sector, business driven economic expansion is.
Speaker 5 (05:06):
Going to take some doing.
Speaker 7 (05:08):
He says, tariffs will actually accelerate economic growth. Those tariffs
are all part of the Trump economic long game. Even
with the occasional bump in the road.
Speaker 15 (05:18):
Democrats have been blasting Trump for those bumps while ignoring
the long term plan.
Speaker 16 (05:22):
They're missing the forest for the trees. What Donald Trump
is going to spend the next four years doing is
trying to dismantle an economic time bomb that is forty years.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
In the making.
Speaker 15 (05:31):
Columnist Andrew Shirley says America has been limping along on
debt for years, and Trump aims to fix it.
Speaker 16 (05:36):
Joe Biden did his best to ignore it for four years.
Donald Trump is confronted to get head on, and short term.
Speaker 13 (05:41):
There will be some fluctuations.
Speaker 15 (05:43):
Shirley says, we have already seen major long term progress
like billions of dollars invested into American manufacturing. Ethan Buchanan
News Radio seven forty KRH five six.
Speaker 7 (05:52):
We all make fun of gen Z, right, but new
research shows they'll become the richest generation.
Speaker 5 (05:57):
Alive in ten years.
Speaker 7 (05:59):
Maybe that's why so many young voters supported Donald Trump,
a shift that is still surprising Democrats.
Speaker 17 (06:05):
And Democrats don't recognize that's their cultural stance and their
policies for driving away young men. They're going to continue
to lose, and that is a demographic that they absolutely
need to have in order to win an election.
Speaker 5 (06:16):
Brianna Ligneman with the Federalists.
Speaker 7 (06:18):
Now Trump is bringing egg prices down, but wholesale beef
prices continue to rise.
Speaker 5 (06:23):
Eventually you're gonna pay for it.
Speaker 18 (06:25):
Texas A and M University Agro Life Extension economists David Anderson,
PhD says the livestock heard today is at its lowest
since nineteen sixty one, and now we're getting into barbecue
season when demand for beef rises every year, and then
there's the balance of imports and exports.
Speaker 19 (06:42):
We export some lower valued stuff to other parts of
the world, but we import a lot of beef kem infect.
The majority of what we import are lean beef trimmings, and.
Speaker 18 (06:54):
Those lean beef trimmings are needed to mix with that
for a great hamburger. I'm Michael Shiloh and k TRI.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
And there's this.
Speaker 7 (07:02):
You can now put fast food on layaway thanks to
a partnership between Klarna and door Dash.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
But just because you can doesn't mean you should.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Do you really want to pay seventy bucks for a burrito?
That's not really a good choice.
Speaker 7 (07:16):
Great Plains Bank Market president Janet Spooner says you can
easily run the risk in incurring late fees and being
charged high interest rates. The Rockets beat Atlanta one twenty
one to one fourteen. They host Utah Tomorrow Night. I'm
Cliff Saunders on Houston's news, weather and traffic station KTRH.
Speaker 5 (07:35):
I live in the Heights, I live in Spring Kingwood.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Next on the ten Your Faster Commute on seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 6 (07:43):
ZA Taco Bell.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
Hey, Who've been done?
Speaker 4 (07:46):
It's been done with some level of success, combining to generally,
you know, fast food restaurants into the same location, so
that if you go to the combination pizza and taco bell,
what if it feels like eating tacos, you can get
taco an the other one feels like eating pizza, you
could order a pizza. Kind of best of both worlds
kind of thing. Well, now it's coming to not just
(08:07):
fast food but casual dining. It turns out that you're
gonna have accommodation Applebee's and I Hop restaurant. Huh, that's
actually I think that's actually a hell of a good
idea International House of Pancakes, which is known for breakfast,
(08:28):
they've tried with lunch and dinner. Lunch and dinner's not
successful for them, but breakfast is. Apple Bee's of course
doesn't offer breakfast, so they're putting these two together, at
least in some locations where you know, you've got two
different doors you can go in, but you basically have
a common dining room and a common kitchen. So if
(08:49):
you go in the I Hop side, you know, you well,
it doesn't really matter. You can order from either the
Applebee's menu or the I Hop menu. Now, if you
go in at six o'clock in the morning, then answers
are good. You're going to order from that I Hop
menu anyway. You're there for breakfast, right, But theoretically you
could get breakfast any time of the day or anything
on the ie hop menu, it probably wouldn't be the
(09:10):
same men you'd find it a traditional ihop, right, they
probably wouldn't have their normal lunch and dinner items, So
they leave that up to Applebee's. So the same thing
you feel like breakfast at four o'clock in the afternoon.
You know your your significant other wants, you know, wants
some sort of a you know, dish, some sort of
a dinner dish. They can get the from the apple
Bee's menu. You get from the Eyehep menu. Now do
(09:31):
you change the name? Do you make it apple Hop
or do you make it hop Bees?
Speaker 5 (09:38):
What do you do with that?
Speaker 4 (09:39):
And here's what got me thinking, because you know, we
in our house, we love to eat out. We are
kind of adventurous when it comes well, we're not super adventurous,
I guess when it comes to dining. We have very
traditional taste. But there aren't too many places that we
haven't tried at one time or another where I've said
to myself, Man, I wish they had this on the menu.
What if you could put together We're talking about a
(10:00):
national chain, a regional chain, or even a local Houston
area restaurant. If you could put two of your favorites
together that have very different kinds of food so that
you had more of a variety where you could get
if your significant other, like mine, doesn't like to eat
the same things you do, where if they would be
happy and you would be happy. What two restaurants would
(10:22):
you put together? Which two would you combine? Go to
the iHeartRadio app KTRH. Put us on the preset that
will take you to the station. And if you put
us on the precept you can get to us quickly
every time you get thirty seconds once you hit the
talkback button to give us your name, where you're calling from.
And what two restaurants, whether it's a national chain, regional chain,
or local restaurants, which two would you like to put together?
(10:43):
Just go to again the iHeart Radio app KTRH. Right,
let's do a little traffic and weather together. Let you
check out you're guys, Yes, we're gonna be hungry all
morning long.
Speaker 6 (10:51):
Sky Mike ponchos Mexican buffet ooh and crawfish.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
Okay, little seafood Mexican combination there for breakfast.
Speaker 5 (11:01):
Let's check your belts and loops now, North Sam. You've
got that road work.
Speaker 6 (11:05):
It's it's not just road work, it's a lifestyle from
Aldan Westfield and also from Imperial Valley. Both ways that's
a left lane and we can't seem to get rid
of it. They fixed a damn bridge in seven months
up in Cleveland on a highway eighth seven eighty seven,
which goes from Tarkington Prairie over to Romere, and that
bridge is back in business over the Trinity River. The
(11:27):
thing got knocked out back in August. I can't believe that.
Back to belts and loops focus, Mike west Sam. We
look good here, Jersey Village down to down to sugar Land.
Good shape here and South Sam. Nothing to talk about there.
Grant Parkway over by the golf Ball Terry, we look.
Speaker 5 (11:43):
Good, Tomball.
Speaker 6 (11:44):
If you're going the other way, coming around from Dayton
and Nick Canny and you're somebody's butler in Tomball, you
look good.
Speaker 5 (11:49):
On Grand Parkway North and North Loop sixteen.
Speaker 6 (11:51):
We're not loopy at the squeeze yet at forty five
westbound and also down to Uptown up to Uptown wide open.
I'm Skymike in the USA. Arevresorts dot Com traffic center.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
From our katrh top tax Defenders twenty four hour whether
center Terry Smith is here. We've got some rain coming
not here yet. Well, we could get a shower, I
guess this morning, but no big deal. But there's some
heavy rains can be coming here in a day or two.
Speaker 20 (12:15):
Yeah, there's not much rain today. We've got a little
bit of fog out there in spots. It's going to
be a cloudy day. But this developing area of low
pressure it's going to originate just to the south of US,
is going to draw and quite a bit of moisture
from the golf and some heavy rains possible between Thursday,
Thursday night and Friday.
Speaker 21 (12:36):
Now.
Speaker 20 (12:36):
The good thing is it's out of here by the weekend.
Today cloudy, a little bit cooler than yesterday, just a
little bit load of mid eighties today. Tomorrow we have
a sixty percent chance of showers, some thunderstorms will cool
into the load of mid seventies and Friday ninety percent
chance of showers and storms and some heavy rain possible.
(12:56):
We're talking easily one to three inches of rain for
most of us, but there'll be some places that could
see higher amounts than that. And then a slight chance
of a thundershower early Saturday. The rest of the day
were partly cloudy. Sunday also dry. We'll be back up
in the eighties over the weekend.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
Temperature. Right now, let me double check this here. It
is currently sixty seven at your officials severe weather station.
News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
It's Houston's Morning News, brought to you by New South
Windows Solutions. Now back to Jimmy Barrett and the Houston
Morning News team all the info you.
Speaker 4 (13:32):
Need to take on the day. So this this Security
League thing is is very curious to me. National Security
Advisor Mike Waltz, what went on last night with Laura
Ingram on Fox And basically he took the hit for it.
He said it wasn't a staff.
Speaker 22 (13:50):
You know.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
He explained, well, he's not exactly one hundred percent sure
how that phone number got in there, but the phone number,
he did say, the phone number was not connected to
the journalists name, So however it got in there he
didn't have any idea that this Atlantic journalist was the
person connected with that phone number. Who is going to
be who's in on the texting. So more on that,
(14:13):
More on what he had to say to lour Ingram
coming up next. But first we've got traffic and whether
we go there now I'm changing my vote. Now what
I'm going to stick I'm going to stick to. I'm
going to stick to the way I voted. So whatever
comes up here, let's go downtown, Jimmy Barrett, let's do
some I'm forty five the Pierce Elevated and that's a
pavement work northbound.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
It's sure is scooching us up now after Scott Street.
Speaker 6 (14:34):
So if you could take that exit rap back at
Lockwood that takes you on the East Text Freeway, do
that get around all this business. Rest of our freeways
rocking along now. I'm skylike in the USA Rvresorts.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Dot Com traffic center from a rkt our Range Top
Tax Defenders twenty four hour weather center. Some patche fog
in a few spots, Otherwise mainly cloudy, high temperature, about
eighty three showers and scattered storms. Tomorrow seventy three rain
and storms, potentially heavy rain seventy four for the high
in front. Right now, it is currently sixty seven at
your officials severe weather station News Radio seven forty k TRH.
(15:07):
All right, let's turn it over to Cliff and get
you an updated on some of our top stories. And
we're brought to you by DNM Auto losing. Hey, the
irs is finally doing something right. They're working with ICE.
Speaker 7 (15:18):
The accused El Paso Walmart shooter apparently has been offered
a plea deal to avoid the death penalty. A local
TV report says one of the steers that got loose
on the I forty five this week actually.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
Is still missing. Oh, I thought they got them all.
Apparently not.
Speaker 23 (15:36):
Huh.
Speaker 7 (15:37):
Get the latest news anytime at KTRH dot com. I
thought you were gonna go somewhere else with that. Our
next update is at five thirty. Well, my butcher, we'll
go find them.
Speaker 5 (15:46):
Just like your car.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
The new iHeartRadio app now has presets everything I listened
to in one place.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
It's the easiest way to listen to KTA.
Speaker 4 (15:54):
Download or update our free iHeartRadio app today, five twenty
three at a time here in Houston's morning news. Yeah,
it's a real. It's a bit of a mystery. You know,
there's a lot of ways you could think something like
this could happen. You know where you've got a journalist's
phone number, who shows up into this this app, this
this secure app that they were using for texting talking about,
(16:18):
you know, what they're doing in Yemen with the hoodies
and all that kind of stuff. How did this guy's
phone number, which evidently was not connected to his name,
how did they get into the text here?
Speaker 14 (16:29):
Is?
Speaker 4 (16:29):
National Security Advisor Mike Waltz says, it's his responsibility. He
was on with Lori Ingram last night.
Speaker 10 (16:34):
I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but of all the people
out there, somehow this guy who has lied about the president,
who has lied to goos Star families, lied to their attorneys,
and gone to Russia hoax, gone to just all kinds
of links to lie and smear the president of the
(16:56):
United States, and he's the one that somehow gits on
somebody's contact and then gets sucked into this group.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
Is someone in your intel? Is someone in your intel
team trying to cause trouble here? Because that's the scuttle
about out there.
Speaker 10 (17:10):
We have people, we have people, no Look, this was
this is a great group. The president has a great team.
This is not first your team. I'm not talking about
the other president. No, no, no, these were principles and
a couple and a couple of staff that we're coordinating
as you saw, having a policy discussions as we went forward,
and then just in the days before what was an
(17:31):
incredible strike. Not only did we take out people that
the Biden team never could that, we took out headquarters,
missile cachets and actually one of the leaders of the
Hooty organization. We've since taken out several sins. And you
know that's what they don't want to talk about. They
don't want to talk about the success here. They don't
want to talk about the hostages getting released. They don't
(17:51):
want to talk about the Black Sea cease fire that
we just put in place today as the president ends
the largest land war in Europe, or the border, or
the fact that Panama just kicked China out of the
canal and success after success at their success. So they
want to focus on this. It's embarrassing. Yes, uh, we're
going to get to the bottom of it.
Speaker 24 (18:11):
We've have.
Speaker 5 (18:11):
I just talked to Elon on the way here.
Speaker 10 (18:14):
We've got the best technical minds looking at how this happened.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
But I can tell you. I can tell you for
one hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
I don't know this guy.
Speaker 10 (18:22):
I know him by his horrible reputation and he really
is the bottom scum of journalists. And I know him
in the sense that he hates the president. But I
don't text him. He went on my phone. And we're
going to figure out how this is. So you don't
know what staffer is responsible for this right now? Well, look,
a staffer wasn't responsible. And look, I take full responsibility.
(18:42):
I built the I built the group to make My
job is to make sure everything's coordinated.
Speaker 5 (18:46):
But how did that come for you?
Speaker 10 (18:47):
I mean, I don't mean to be pedantic here, but
how did the number?
Speaker 20 (18:50):
Have you ever had?
Speaker 10 (18:50):
Have you ever had somebody's contact that shows their name
and then you have an and then you have somebody else's. Right,
You've got somebody else's number on someone else's contact.
Speaker 5 (19:00):
So of course I didn't see this loser in the group.
It looked like someone else.
Speaker 10 (19:04):
Now, whether he did it deliberately or it happened in
some other technical means something we're trying to figure out.
Speaker 5 (19:10):
Huh.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
So Is it really that simple. You've got a bet,
you've got a name that has been put with this
journalists phone number. I mean, how we do you have
the journalist phone number to begin with. I still find
it hard to believe that they Well, maybe they're just
saying this up front. Maybe they are looking to see
if there's anybody at the National security staff that could
(19:32):
have had anything at any level to do with this.
That seems far more likely to me than any other
explanation at this point. Anyway, five twenty seven, It is
time to take a look at your money. Jeff Bellinger
is here and.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
Jimmy, good morning.
Speaker 25 (19:45):
The major stock averages did some direction changing during a
volatile Tuesday session. They closed higher, but just barely. All
of the games were less than half a percent. A
Conference Board report showing that consumer confidence is at a
four year low is one of the the concerns for investors.
Futures are pointing lower this morning. The Dow futures are
down thirty eight points. I'm Jeff Beldinger, Bloomberg Business on

IRS is now going to work with ice. Few at
the border, even fewer are getting away and coming up
at five thirty eight. Ever, wonder why you can't remember
being a baby? Details in the minutes ahead you're in
Houston's wants interesting. First, we're checking out that drive with Skyline.
(20:50):
All right, we've got and we.
Speaker 6 (20:51):
Got this little stall on the East text Freeway southbound
at six ten. He's just sitting there on the right side,
minding his own business. But watch out if you're trying
to merge. I don't know if you could see him. Well,
if you're going southbound north Bounty shows up just fine.
Downtown forty five, the pier elevated. They're doing some pavement work.
Easy to get around that Scooch, Just take sixty nine instead.
If your hazard, just take the loop and remember, let
(21:14):

Speaker 5 (21:15):
We're super easy to reach. Or if you're from.
Speaker 6 (21:18):

Speaker 4 (21:26):
From r KTRH Generator Supercenter, twenty four hour Weather Center.
We're looking at a mainly cloudy day for today with
the temperature right about eighty three. We'll get Terry Smith
in here. We've got some rain coming, especially on Friday
when it could get heavy. We'll talk to her about
that in about eight minutes. Right now, it is sixty
seven at your official severe weather station, News Radio seven
(21:46):
forty k t RH. It's time now for the news.
Here's Cliff Saunders.
Speaker 5 (21:50):
Thank you, Jimmy.
Speaker 7 (21:51):
It's coming up on five thirty two on kg RHR
top story.
Speaker 27 (21:55):
We're not stopping and resting TDA, but we're gonna keep
rusting TDABLE and keep rusting MS thirteen and we'll detain
them until we can remove them.
Speaker 13 (22:02):
But we're gonna keep doing what we're doing.
Speaker 7 (22:04):
Orders are Tom Homan on Fox And as we wait
on a three judge panel to rule on deportation flights,
Ice and the irs reportedly close to a deal allowing
ICE to access taxpayer information. The purpose would be to
locate illegal aliens subject to deportation. In the meantime, got
aways at the border have dropped over ninety three percent
(22:27):
since Trump's return to office. But how many wound up
getting away under Joe Biden?
Speaker 28 (22:33):
We asked Jason Jones, retired DPS captain.
Speaker 5 (22:37):
Now with Newsmax, the real truth here is we'll never know.
Speaker 13 (22:41):
For years, there were not enough agents on the line
to just help.
Speaker 28 (22:45):
The data, and that's why it's going to take time

Five thirty eight hour time here in Houston's Born News.
You ever wondered why you don't remember being a baby?
You know what, what's your earliest memory? My earliest memory,
I'm trying to think. I think my earliest memory I
was probably about two, somewhere around the age of two,
and my earliest memory was my mother trying to potty
train me, and eviden, evidently I had a habit of
(27:56):
not wanting to sit on the toilet. Now, I don't
ask me why I don't know why. Yeah, I know
if I was afraid of the toilet or what the
story was, but I would sneak to places to to to,
you know, go botty. I don't know if she had
diapers on meie still at this point or not. I
don't remember that part. But my earliest memory is I'm
(28:19):
behind the kitchen door and she grabs me. She grabs
me and puts me on the toilet of the half
bath that was right across from the kitchen. Don't ask
me why I remember that. I don't, but I don't
remember anything before that, and I don't remember a lot
of the things after that. So clearly that made an
impression on me when I was about two years of age,
(28:40):
But that is my that's my earliest memory. You don't
remember when you're like nine months old or a year
old or a year and a half old, and it's
it's not that you don't. It turns out they did
some research on this, and I won't get into all
the technical aspects of it because it's kind of complicated
and it probably glazed your eyes over reading the research
on this, but in a nutshell, basically, what they have
(29:00):
found out is that babies do have memories, which is
why you're able to learn to talk, why you're able
to learn eventually to read, you know, learn your letters,
you know, sing songs that you remember as a child,
as a little baby, you know, or as an infant.
But the problem is is that, for whatever reason, those
(29:23):
things kind of get pushed out, pushed out of your
brain file. You know, when you're trying to remember something.
You know, your brain's kind of like a computer, right it,
and it's got files in there, and the files are
under certain headings. And what you remember as a baby,
a particular incident or a particular thing, your brain doesn't
recognize the file name anymore. It's just not the same
(29:46):
now that you are an adult. So you can only
go back so far in your memory, which is interesting.

of the summer. It was hot, it was thirsty, and
so I drank some more So, how many other incidents

(46:29):
we've been a seller's market for a long long. TIME i,
mean going, back, man at Least i'm thinking at least twenty,
eighteen probably twenty, eighteen so we're, talking you, know but
six seven years of being basically a seller's, market which
means that the seller could ask for crazy price and
(46:49):
they'd get, it and they'd have bidding, wars and you,
know there's no real concessions on things and and all,
that all the good things that you. Know it's a
great time to sell the, house not a great time
to buy a. House and of course low interest rates
drove the buyer. Frenzy once we lost low interest rates
lower interest, rates we had a period of time where
we still didn't have a lot of homes for, sales
(47:12):
so it kept the prices. Up but that seems to
be shifting a little bit. Now here's a report from
Kho U.
Speaker 40 (47:17):
Eleven Kat robinson is the vice chair of The Houston
association Of. Realtors she says that fear and at times
frustration for potential buyers caused by the strong seller's market
led many to give.
Speaker 41 (47:30):
Up that negotiation fatigue is, real and if they didn't
get their way after so many, times they definitely took
a step back and.
Speaker 40 (47:39):
Rented leading to another, issue an influx of housing inventory
and a potential shift in the.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
Market right, now.
Speaker 41 (47:46):
We're sitting on four and a half months of, inventory
which puts us leaning more towards that buyer's.
Speaker 40 (47:53):
Market that's, right things are as, shifting Although kat says
right now we are officially in a balanced market need more. Proof,
Well horror compared the number of property sales last months
To february of twenty twenty, four and sales dropped four
point seven, percent meaning we're going to.
Speaker 41 (48:11):
See a little bit more opportunity for buyers to get
a discount or more repairs done by the sellers or
credits for those.
Speaker 4 (48:19):
Repairs, okay just that's that. Long you, know in case
you're one of those people thinking of selling your, home you,
know be prepared to have to negotiate a little bit
more to get the price that you're trying to get
for that.
Speaker 5 (48:31):
House six to.

Speaker 20 (50:07):
Like yesterday we had a couple of record high temperatures
set a lot of places close to ninety. Degrees, well,
today between the morning clouds and, fog there's some mist
being reported here and. There with some of that, fog
even though it's not horribly, dense it's still creating a
little bit of.
Speaker 5 (50:25):
Mistiness it's still going to be a cloudy.
Speaker 20 (50:28):
Day so, yeah not much sunshine, today load of mid
eighties this. Afternoon now we'll start to get some rain
tonight and tomorrow And. Friday we're going to be watching
out for the possibility of some heavy, rain especially tomorrow
and to tomorrow night And. Friday fifty percent chance of
some showers late, tonight a sixty percent chance of showers
(50:49):
and Storms, tomorrow ninety percent chants of more showers than Storms.
FRIDAY i think that's when we're more likely to get
the heavier, rain AND i think one to three inches
of rain is a fair, estimate but there'll be places
that seem more than.
Speaker 5 (51:02):
That most of that's out of here By.

(51:47):
Dining these are two kind of struggling national chains that
are going to go together and try to combine breakfast
and lunch and you can order from either menu and
all that good. Stuff if you could put together two,
restaurants it could be local, restaurants it could be national.

Speaker 1 (53:42):
Mind the big story of the week On News radio
seven FORTY. Ktrh you, know there's.
Speaker 4 (53:49):
Not a lot of running at the border, anymore not
a lot of people showing up at the, border and
the ones that are showing up at the border are being.
Apprehended they're not we're not seeing the getaways like we
used to. Have and that's that's all a good. Thing
but the only problem, is of, course you, know what
kind of progress are we making on the you, know ten,
fifteen Twenty, however many million of people that were got
(54:11):
aways during The biden. Administration Mark koran JOINS us executive
director at The center For Immigration. Studies have we ever,
determined by the way mark a very accurate figure on
how many people we really think got away into THE
us interior at the border during The bid.
Speaker 22 (54:26):
Administration, WELL i mean we. Have it's all guest of its,
Obviously but the real problem the number that we think
got away in other, words that The Order patrol knows
they crossed because the cameras and other, things but that
they didn't take into custody because they were so busy
Being walmart. Greeterers for people turning themselves in was probably
(54:49):
only about two million, ONLY i. Say the real problem
is the maybe seven eight million that they let in on,
purpose that people who just walked over turned themselves in
and were you, know they filled out some paperwork and
they dropped them off at the bus. Station SO i
mean we're talking nine or ten million people came in
(55:13):
Under biden, illegally and the majority of them were not sneaking.
Across they crossed, illegally and then we're.
Speaker 4 (55:22):
Just let go on, purpose, right and we've been very
busy obviously apprehending gang members and, criminals and really haven't
gotten into much of anything else so. FAR i, guess you,
know they have apprehended, people for, example who have already
been adjudicated in court in order, deported and when they find,
(55:42):
them they deport. Them but of those nine or ten,
million whatever that number, is the vast majority of them
are still. Here do you expect the vast majority of
them will still be here four years from?
Speaker 22 (55:52):
Now, WELL i don't, know it depends what you mean
by vast, majority but they're going to be able to
reduce that. NUMBER i don't think they're going to be
able to get rid of all of them as much
as they, should because The biden administration really did create
permanent damage as a result of its immigration, system and
(56:13):
The trump people are going to be able to undo
some of, it but they're not going to be able
to undo all of, it because just reality is what it,
is you, Know, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (56:23):
Yeah the only thing we can help to, DO i
think at this point is more about not what's happened
in the, past but what happens going, forward which of
course creates the other problem, here which is the problem
we've been arguing about since The reggae, administration which, is
what do you do with those people that are, here
aren't going, anywhere aren't likely to be going anywhere in
our living in the. Shadows do you come up with
(56:45):
some sort of an amnesty, program do you allow the
things to continue the way they are ultimately mark recorin
what do we?
Speaker 22 (56:52):
Do the first thing you have to, do as you,
suggested is prevent more illegal. Immigration and this isn't just
at the. Border we need to put in place the,
systems including things Like, everify which is an online, system
so when you hire, somebody you can make sure that
(57:13):
they're actually telling you the truth about who they are
and they're the right to. Work we have to have
in we literally have to have working a check in
checkout system for foreign visitors because starting In, january because
Of trump's border, policies new illegal aliens are mostly going
to be people who come in on visas like as
(57:36):
tourists or students and then never leave. Visa, overstairs we
don't have a good handle on. That you have to
have those systems in place. Working you have to have
sanctuary cities tamed and so they're following the. Law then
maybe you can talk about what to do with the
illegal too are already, Here but that's putting the car
(58:00):
before the. Horse you got to fix the problem for real.
First only then do you have a discussion about what
do you do with the people who are still?
Speaker 32 (58:08):
Here?
Speaker 4 (58:08):

benefit to the average taxpayer when they read the abstract
of some of these grant requests and these contracts should be.

energy and. Commerce they should be doging themselves and looking
for these. Redundancies AND i don't think this is necessarily
a corruption because you, know these are actors that are
working within the framework.
Speaker 5 (01:08:28):

a lot more than forty miles of bad road in.
This country, in fact the infrastructure grades came out for.
This year roads GOT a, d plus aviation GOT a,
d plus bridges GOT. A, c overall it WAS a
c when they put.
Speaker 5 (01:14:35):
Everything in but the roads are the things we use.
EVERY day.
Speaker 4 (01:14:39):
D plus, you know they're not that bad In the
houston area than the fact they're, so congested but they
are bad across much of. The country here's, a guy
it's kind of an interesting way to look.
Speaker 5 (01:14:50):
At this here's. A guy his Name Is.
Speaker 4 (01:14:52):
Andrew agnost he SAYS, that ai, artificial intelligence can be
a big part of fixing our.
Speaker 1 (01:14:59):
Bad roads so HOW does ai cut? The, cost yeah so.
Speaker 47 (01:15:04):
You're, absolutely right those Numbers, are unobtainingum we cannot actually
deal with that kind. Of number so let me give you. Some,
examples right, first off people have to. Prioritize Better so
i'll give you an example of what we did with
the Municipality In, San. Marcos texas this is one of
the parts of the country that are really subject to,
flooding challenges lots of, flooding issues and what we help
(01:15:26):
them do IS use ai to look at the flood
profile over, twenty thirty maybe even forty years and ask
themselves WHERE do i really need?
Speaker 1 (01:15:36):
To start so right, up front early in.
Speaker 47 (01:15:38):
The process we help them understand WHERE should i really
be spending my dollars, Versus this oh, My gosh i've
got three hundred million DOLLARS that i have. To do
let's focus on the fifty million that makes the. Biggest
difference i'll give you. Another example we've been working With
The indiana Department of transportation and one of the things
we help them do is deploy cloud based solutions to
(01:15:58):
connect all of the very pieces of the, process together,
the communications, the paperwork. The information and what we do
is WE use ai in process to make sure the
right information gets to the right people at the.
Speaker 1 (01:16:11):
Right time so is the project's, Getting executed it's executed.
Speaker 47 (01:16:15):
More efficiently this is why it is so important to
modernize both these municipalities and these departments of transportation and
get them on really advanced. Digital infrastructure they. Need it
they need to spend as much in the world of
infrastructure on it and technology as they do in. Manufacturing
today and the gap is huge.
Speaker 4 (01:16:34):
Right now in, other words we have we take about
seven trillion dollars in order to really fix our. Nation
roads we don't have seven trillion dollars to. Do it
so we have to find more efficient ways in order
to do it. All right time for the timeline Sponsored

the concern is with the amount of rain that we,
could get there could be some flooding.
Speaker 5 (01:30:21):
In spots the.
Speaker 20 (01:30:22):
More likely places to see the flooding are to the
south and to the WEST, of us but it Does
Include Brazoria County mattagorda County And wharton counties their floodwatches
there Tomorrow through. Friday, afternoon today just lots of clouds
and a little cooler load to mid, eighties today there's
a fifty percent chance Of. Showers tonight tomorrow is sixty
(01:30:43):
percent chance of showers and. Some storms temperatures tomorrow load to.
Mid seventies the rain ramping up tomorrow Night, and friday
when that wave of low pressure will, be closest and
that's when we could see several inches. Of rain we're,
fairly right so it's going to take a while before
that possibility of flooding, could happen and it's going to
(01:31:06):
be in those areas that get the. Heavy downpourse we're
dry over the, weekend though and the temperatures warm.

Speaker 4 (01:33:10):
Yeah it's gonna be a long way to get, THE
economy i think exactly where we want it to be
because it got destroyed so much During the. Biden administration seven,
Twenty three, Our time You're in houston's morning news host
And Commentator jake novak. Join us there's so many things
that are up in the air, Right, now jake That
the president has on his list of things he wants.
(01:33:30):
To do, of course there's, the tariffs have to see
how that. Works out there's getting ready on tax getting
rid of taxes on tips And. Social security you, know
what if you're him and, YOU'RE trying i guess the
inflation monster is probably the biggest thing right.
Speaker 23 (01:33:44):
To, tackle yeah and it's not just inflation at the
grocery store and at the ball. Are online it's the
inflation in housing prices that came from the boost and.
MORTGAGE rates i, mean that when you think, about it
that's the biggest. Sticker shock and if we want to
see a real recovery economically in, This, country jimmy we've
(01:34:04):
got to get that, mortgage rate the average thirty year
mortgage rate below. SIX percent i don't care if it's
five point nine. Nine percent the psychological freedom in a
lot of, people's minds both as buyers, and sellers when,
that happens will. Be BIG and i, think that, you
know that's not going to happen from. The said the
said can't make. That happen it's got to happen from
some of the president's policies that he's been, talking about.
Speaker 1 (01:34:26):
Like allowing for homes to be built on.
Speaker 23 (01:34:28):
Federal land, YOU know i know You're, in houston but
You know austin had a significant drop in some of the.
Speaker 5 (01:34:33):
Housing prices how do they.
Speaker 17 (01:34:34):
Do that they.
Speaker 23 (01:34:35):
Increase supply remember in fifth grade you learned about supply.
And demand you got to, increase supply drop, the regulations
make more good, housing available and then you're going to
see not only the prices, go down but also the
mortgage rates go down because they'll be able to make
up stuff.
Speaker 5 (01:34:49):
And volume so, to me that is.
Speaker 23 (01:34:51):
A lynchpin a lot of people are not talking. About
enough we have to get those mortgage. Rates, down yeah
one thing they're probably going to have to improve. As
well and we just got THESE numbers us consumer confidence
for the Fourth straight bunchet's at a twelve.
Speaker 5 (01:35:02):
Year low.
Speaker 10 (01:35:04):
For.
Speaker 4 (01:35:04):
Whatever Reason The confidence board reports the decline In Consumer
confidence index to ninety two, point nine down seven point
two points from the previous. A, month now these are
not crazy, low numbers but it shows, that people, you
know people are pulling back because they're just worried about
the affordability of life.
Speaker 5 (01:35:21):
In, general well and here's the.
Speaker 23 (01:35:24):
Good news the consumer confidence reports are what we call
soft data and word they're asking how. People feel the
harder data shows that the economy is. Still strong you,
Know what people are still actually are still spending a.
LITTLE bit i do agree. WITH you i think that
there's definitely some pullback, going on, but thankfully, right now the,
consumer confidence what they're telling the polsters and the analysts
(01:35:45):
about how, they're, feeling thankfully is not yet completely showing
up at the cash register and on the click button
on when, you're buying when you're. Shopping, online now that
could change on. A dime don't get, me WRONG but
i think we should be looking at the, harder DAY
and i think that's what Kind Of wall street looked
at yesterday, As well like that's why we didn't have
a big sell. Off yesterday we ended up with a
real just even, flat day and we're starting out flat.
(01:36:07):
AGAIN today i think that the markets are waiting for
something else because they feel like that's soft data and
that people sometimes say that things are worse off than they.
Really are but we have to keep an eye on
that because that means they're worried them is it going
to look for, more bargains but whether they're going to
actually stop. SHOPPING altogether i don't think we're, There, Yet, jimmy.
Speaker 5 (01:36:25):
Yeah that remains to.
Speaker 4 (01:36:25):
Be, seen jake always, A pleasure, thank you commentator And
Host Jake novak at seven, twenty six it's time to

is that to? The economy getting rid of the Taxes On,
social security which makes in, my world makes all the
sense of the wor in. The world you already. Paid
taxes you paid taxes on that your whole. Working life

Speaker 5 (01:46:30):
That entails talk about, to, Us, please.
Speaker 50 (01:46:33):
Well the best barometer of, future inflation monetary inflation is
the gold price has been for four thousand years of,
recorded history and in last since twenty, twenty three gold
has gone from eighteen hundred dollars announce to all of
us over three thousand. Dollars announce that means we're going
to get monetary inflation in the next few years Unless
(01:46:54):
The federal reserve wakes up and realizes that the whole
purpose of fighting the way you fight inflation is stabilized
the value of the currency and not trying to depress,
the economy which is their mentality today and The best
and that's why they should look at the price of
gold a green span for, a while did it and
then he lost sight. Of it but that's that's that's
the way they have.

you know we've had restaurants charging. Eggs surcharges now the price,
of eggs thankfully is, coming down so hopefully that comes to, An.
End david but beef has been rather high in price
(01:52:30):
for quite. Some time do you think that we've got
businesses that are getting ready to pass along? A surcharge. On, STEAKS.
Speaker 23 (01:52:39):
Well i don't know.
Speaker 19 (01:52:40):
ABOUT that i think we've got we've got supplies. Of
beef we don't have a problem like we've had with
bird flu on the egg side. Of things but, you
know our cattle herds IN the us or. Are shrinking
we've got the fewest number of cows since nineteen. Sixty
one we're producing. Less beef so from a, supply standpoint
that keeps the pre sure on for.
Speaker 4 (01:53:00):
High, prices, okay well you know clearly it takes time
to bring beef. To market there is still a demand for.
The beef so why isn't there a. Greater supply why are,
we putting, you know more to the herd and creating
more of a supply for.
Speaker 5 (01:53:13):
The, demand.
Speaker 19 (01:53:15):
Well, you know we've got a smaller herd really because
of drought and low prices for ranchers relative to. Their costs,
you know, like everybody we've seen higher costs and that
that coupled with drought AROUND the us for a number,
of years has led us to have fewer cows to
have that. Shrinking herd so that's what's driven this this
(01:53:37):
tighter and. Tighter supplies we just haven't gotten quite to
the point yet where prices for ranchers are high enough
and the weather's good enough to get them to feel
good about expanding.
Speaker 4 (01:53:48):
Their, herds okay that being, the case is going to.
BE expensive i would think to bry by beef for quite.
Some time how high can you see prices going on things? Like,
steak well, you know.
Speaker 19 (01:53:58):
Our retail kind of average price, last month ACCORDING, to
cpi was over eight dollars and fifty cents for. Choice beef,
YOU know i think. THERE'S time i think that's gonna keep.
Going Up and i'll tell. You why it's because kind
of seasonally we're hitting, grilling season and so we already
see that in the wholesale market for Things like Ribbi's
And New york strips and, lean beef for ground beef.
(01:54:22):
And hamburgers, you know we hit, grilling season we get
a seasonal bump, in prices and that part comes from the,
demand side because we all like a good steak and a.
Speaker 4 (01:54:30):
Good hamburger yeah, We DO and i guess as LONG as,
I do i'll keep paying. The price, Thank, you david.
Appreciate it Professor in Ncadas AT texas A.
