Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right. I've been very excited to invite all of
our listeners, not only our listeners here on Am nine
fifty kPr C, but also on news Radio seven forty
k tr H to my big calling it my Big
Fact Greek vacation. I've never been to Grease. I'm really
looking forward to this. Elizabeth and I are looking forward
to hosting some of our listeners. We're going to have
a great time. We're going to fly to Athens, We're

(00:20):
going to take a cruise of the Greek islands and
it's it's going to be just an amazing trip. I
guarantee you this will be a bucket list item. This
will be something you will look back on. Is one of,
if not your favorite vacation of all time. Doug Johnson
is with us, He's with Cruise Tours. They're the ones
that are helping us put this together and pull this off.

(00:41):
And I know you folks do this all the time, Doug,
but ye, when you think of, you know, bucket list
vacations are what are some of the people who you
work with, what are what are their ideas of great
bucket list vacations.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
It's a great question, Jimmy, and you know, Europe is
always a hot spot for people and and Greece is
up near there at the top of the list every year.
For sure, Italy Spain are always popular, but the Greek
Islands in Greece is a fantastic one that always delights
everyone that visits.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
I think one of the reasons I'm really excited about it.
I'm a history buff. I love history, and I know
part of what we're doing is not only going to
Athens and touring the Acropolis and all the sites there
are to see there, but there are plenty of other
historical sites that also be included on that cruise.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Correct, absolutely, this one has a lot of history between
Athens itself. But then especially when you get into a
couple of the ports in Turkey, you know you're going back.
They're still excavating some of these sites that they've been
doing that for one hundred and fifty years and they're
still exploring and finding new artifacts.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
So tell me a little bit about the itinerary here.
I know day one is just getting there, and it's
a bit of a flight. It's not a two hour
flight to get the Athens, that's for sure, But what
happens once we get there for sure, and you know.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
I don't we and speaking with you and planning this out,
we chose kind of this mid June frame to help
the listeners get out of the heat of Houston and
in busy Greece, So it's an ideal time to visit
where there's going to be super comfortable for people with
you know, highs in the you know, low eighties, mid

(02:23):
eighties and and low's you know, mid sixties, high sixties,
so really comfortable temperature. And as you said, we have
that overnight flight to Athens once we head out of Houston,
and we stay at night there at a hotel, do
some city site seeing. You mentioned the Acropolis. People will
have some free time to walk around. There's a there's
a beautiful area called the Placa in Athens that's a

(02:45):
great pedestrian spot. And then that next day we'll board
our cruise ship to Celebrity Infinity, and then that's our
home for the next seven nights, so it's very relaxing.
All of your meals are included on board. We include
a drink package for peap bull and Wi Fi and
all that, so they can stay connected with friends and
family and post photos and make everyone jealous that didn't

(03:07):
didn't join them, and then that's your home and the
ship just visits different ports during the day, so we
see some of the you know, real highlights that people
have probably heard about. Antini Greece is probably one of
the most photographed spots that the spot with the whitewashed
buildings and the blue roofs that people see over overlooking

(03:29):
the sea. And then we're in michinosper day and epicust
Turkey again that's where they're still doing a lot of
that excavating was I was mentioning earlier. And then we
continue on and visited a couple more ports in Turkey
before we head back over into Athens at the end.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Yeah, it's going to be an amazing drip. It's, you know,
the part of it I particularly love. I love cruising.
I don't know about you, but I love cruising. It
is I find it very relaxing. Is like a floating
hotel where you have everything that you want as you
go from port to port and see the difference sites
and people. Always you know, people who've never been on
a cruise before always asking well don't you get bored,

(04:06):
And I'm thinking bored, No, I mean, there's so many
things to do on a cruise ship. You've got casinos,
and you've got world class dining and shows and all
kinds of things to do.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Absolutely, and people are going to be you know, busy
during the day visiting these beautiful islands and then coming
back and as you said, you can be as relaxed
in the in the evenings, in the mornings, or you
can be as active as you want. There's there's plenty
to do on board, and they have activities really to
to cater to everybody. There's you know, there's game shows,
there's there's Broadway type shows, and all kinds of different

(04:41):
music live music venues on board. And Celebrity does a
very very very nice job at you know, delivering a
great culinary experience but also just service and all kinds
of amenities for people to enjoy.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
All Right, Doug Johnson, let's tell our listeners a little
bit about the accommodations. But you know what kind of
a kind of a state room do they have on
board the ship? You know, what can they look forward
to as far as the amenities.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Sure, we've got that one night at the Moxie Hotel
in Athens, which is a great location for people. And
then when they get on board the Celebrity Infinity, there's
really a choice of a few different categories that they
can pick from, but everything is ocean view with you know,
a view of the so you've got that plenty of
natural light. Some of them have the verandas and their

(05:23):
own little balcony and yeah, they're very, very spacious and
accommodating cabins. And then as we were just speaking, the
the onboard public facilities are magnificent as well.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
And one of the things that I really appreciate about
a trip like this, and nobody likes surprises, right, you
don't want you you don't want to spend good money
on a on a big trip like this and then
have you know, get nickeled and dimed once you get there.
Virtually everything you're going to do is included in the price,
so there's no big surprises, and you know right up front,
what is paid, what is paid forward, what is.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
It absolutely and that's something that a lot of folks
don't real you know, you see online advertising from airlines
or cruise lines or hotels, and you know they're trying
to advertise that rock bottom price with all kinds of
add ons. But we do these listener trips, as you said,
all over the country, and we've just found people like
to have, you know, the basic things included, so we

(06:17):
include all the gratuities for the onboard staff or our
tour director, and as I mentioned earlier, the beverage package
and the Wi Fi package. So really the only out
of pocket is going to be if they're buying some
souvenirs on the islands.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
You can't beat that, no surprises. And again you have
different levels too, So if for example, if you if
you're one of those people who likes to be able
to stretch out and have a lot of room and
have someplace on board the plane that you can sleep,
you can get that type of accommodation. If you want
to be more economical and you want to be back
and coach, you can do that as well.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
So people have choices, absolutely, yeah, and we try to accommodate.
You know, everyone's got different budgets, so we want to
make sure we have something for everybody.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Now here's the big question of course, for I know
you've sent out a ton of brochures to our listeners
and and you know, like everything else, people take a
look at that, and then they say, well, it's only February.
Maybe you know, maybe we'll wait until it gets a
little bit closer, and you don't want to do that.
Right At some point in time, we're going to be
full and we're going to have to shut this thing off.

(07:20):
So if somebody is interested in, you know, getting even
more details or making a reservation, what is the best
way for them to do this?

Speaker 2 (07:31):
For sure? And that's that's a great point. I mean,
we've had a lot of interest, as you said, and
lots of brochure request and you're absolutely right. I think
people don't realize some of these trips need to be
played far ahead. So yeah, we're at that point that
you know, if they are interested, they need to make
a reservation very soon. So we still have the space
on the air on the airplane and on the cruise

(07:52):
ship and so forth. So they can visit a special
website we set up for the trip called travel with
Jimmy dot com, or they can give our staff a
call at eight hundred three eighty three thirty one thirty one,
and now you know, we can answer any questions they
might have or go through the itinery. But but yeah,

(08:12):
if it is something they're thinking about, they should really
get a reservation made pretty quickly so they don't miss out.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
Okay, and and I'm going to invite all of you
to take take us up on this. Go to eight
hundred three eight three thirty one thirty one. If you
want to talk to somebody on the phone, if you
just want to read about it again or book it online,
you can go to travel with Jimmy dot com. There's
travel with Jimmy dot com or called eight hundred three
eight three thirty one thirty one. All right, Doug, Thanks,
we'll see you soon.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Thank you very much, Jimmy, have a great day.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
You met Doug Johnson. He's with Cruise Tours. Back with
more in a moment. Jimmy Bart Show here an AM
