Services Studios.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Well, good morning, it is Monday. This is Houston's Morning News.
I'm Jimmy Barrett. Among our top stories as we get
started this morning, just enough Democrats vote to potentially end
the government shutdown Governor Abbot running for a fourth term
and coming up at five to eight. So what did
Democrats get for reopening the government or green to reopen
the government? The answer not much. Details in the minutes ahead.
(00:40):
First we'll check out the morning Drive for the first thing.
Good morning, sky Mine dude.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
We're looking at you North Freeway here southbound right at
the loop.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
That's not a good spot to start off for the wreck,
and we're off to it will.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
It's on Monday, and it's kind of chilly too, rich
right before six ten minutes. More than anything, it's affecting
that ramp if you're trying to go over to the
heights a Garden Oaks, if you hang to the left,
you can get.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Around this just fine. I'm not going to start rewriting
it yet.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
We will revisit this and the next thing that pops
up at the five ten break and the Generator Supercenter,
dot Com traffic Center.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
From our KTRH top tax defenders, twenty four hour weather centers.

Here's Cliff Saunders.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
Thank you, Jimmy.
Speaker 6 (01:33):
Good morning everyone. It is five oho one. We're sponsored
by shop As Farm Supply. In our top story, it.
Speaker 7 (01:39):
Looks like we're getting close to the shutdown.
Speaker 6 (01:41):
Ending President Trump on his return to the White House
last night, is eight Senate Democrats cave and take a
step towards ending the Schumer shutdown.
Speaker 8 (01:50):
Eight Democrats have voted with Republicans to greenlight the bill.
The bill funds the government through late January, and it
funds three sections of government through next fall. There is
nothing in the bill to offset rising healthcare costs. Democrats
demanded money for healthcare aid before voting to fund the government,
but Democrats walked away with nothing despite their shutdown gambit.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
Fox's Chat program.
Speaker 6 (02:13):
Keep in mind, the House still has to approve whatever
the Senate sends them before the shutdown officially ends. Now,
the Senate move comes after Trump pushed in the Philipbuster,
a plan that Texas's John Cordon had not totally backed.
Speaker 9 (02:28):
I think she's more of a traditionalist. She says, let's
not change things to make sure of ourselves today because
they could come back.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
And harm us tomorrow.
Speaker 9 (02:35):
And it's a very smart approach, but it disagrees with Thump.
Speaker 6 (02:40):
Political consultant Bill Miller says this could hurt Cornan's chances
of getting a Trump endorsement. In the meantime, we still
have travel issues. Sixty seven flights already canceled between Bush
and Hompy this morning. And this won't surprised you. The
mainstream media played defense for the Dems during the shutdown.
Speaker 10 (02:58):
As Bill degastinoes for the Media Research Center and NewsBusters,
it's been all about defending the Democrats.
Speaker 11 (03:06):
Fairly remarkable to me.
Speaker 12 (03:08):
Are basically trying to exonerate Democrats from any amount of
culpability they have in the shutdown.
Speaker 10 (03:13):
And the research shows the numbers don't lie.
Speaker 12 (03:17):
What we found was that there were only twelve instances
where anybody on one of these three broadcast networks actually
mentioned that it was Senate Democrats causing the government shutdown.
Speaker 10 (03:26):
Instead, it's eighty seven percent pro Democrat coverage. Jeff Biggs,
News Radio seven forty K t Rey. It's now five
h three.
Speaker 13 (03:35):
This is the place where I first ran for public office.
We won Harris County then, and we are going to
win Harris County again this election.
Speaker 6 (03:49):
Greg Abbott makes it official right here in Houston, announcing
his run for a histark fourth term as governor. The
move comes after voters passed all seventeen propositions on the
ballot last week. Now, filing for the midterms continues, and
the Harris County GOP is working overtime to recruit candidates
to run for multiple judicial positions.
Speaker 14 (04:11):
We actually have a great light of candidate, lots of
great experience background. Were real thrilled with how it's shaping up.
But that said, we have the longest ballot in the country.
Speaker 6 (04:23):
Party chair Cindy Siegel says they're still working to recruit
more for family probate and felony courts. The candidate filing
period is ending on December eighth. Elsewhere, after last week's
Democrat wins in Democrat states, we should add California Governor
Gavin Newsom took a victory lap here in Houston.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
We're dealing with an invasive species by the name of
Donald Trump, but.
Speaker 6 (04:49):
The Californian was here in Houston. California pass Prop fifty
retaliation for Texas redistricting. The new maps may impact next
year's midterms, but that won't help or won't matter if
the GOP doesn't learn from last week.
Speaker 15 (05:03):
It wasn't just the big races in New York, New Jersey,
and Virginia. Election data guru Ryan Gerdski tells Bright Bart
News Democrats also won smaller races across several other states
last Tuesday.
Speaker 16 (05:13):
Places that really had no national repercussions. But the turnout
was tremendous in the part of Democrats just to say,
let me stick it to Trump and go vote for
a Democrat.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
And Republican turno was very, very low.
Speaker 16 (05:24):
Even in Mississippi, Republicans saw seats in the state legislature.
Speaker 15 (05:26):
He says Republicans must sharpen their economic message and get
their twenty twenty four voters to turn out next year
to counter the DEM's anti Trump enthusiasm. Coreyolson, who's Radio
seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 5 (05:37):
Looking at your money.
Speaker 6 (05:38):
If President Trump gets his way, you're going to reap
the benefits of tariffs, promising a two thousand dollars dividend
check for everyone except for high income earners. Overnight futures
on the Dow are up more than two hundred points.
The National Retail Federation predicts that holiday sales will top
one trillion dollars. That's reflecting a four point three percent
(05:58):
increase compared to last year. Lone Star Economists Lone Star
College economist Hank Lewis says there are a couple of
ways to look at this.
Speaker 17 (06:06):
So it could be that, yes, it's higher, but some
of that maybe because of there being higher prices of
various hugs and services.
Speaker 6 (06:13):
In other words, you might not get as much bang
for your buck, and that's because of inflation, which started,
of course under Joe Biden.
Speaker 5 (06:19):
It's now five oh six. The Texans what a game.
Speaker 6 (06:22):
They outscored the Jaguars twenty six nothing in the fourth
quarter to beat Jacksonville thirty six to twenty nine. Davis
Mills had to go ahead score in the final minute.
Speaker 18 (06:32):
I have always had the mentality to stay confident regardless
of what happened on the play before. It's kind of
like the old basketball mentality, shooter shoot. If you stop,
I mean, you're not going to see shots going.
Speaker 6 (06:43):
The Texans are now four and five. They visit Tennessee
next weekend. The Rockets beat the Bucks in Milwaukee, won
twenty two to one fifteen. Kevin Durant thirty one points
to lead the way. I'm Cliff Saunders on Houston's news,
weather and traffic station News Radio seven forty k TRH.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Houston's morning news continues with Jimmy Barrett.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
All right, well, we are technically still in the government shutdown,
but it looks like the end is just about here.
The Senate voted sixty to forty last night, just enough
Democrats to go along with this to end the shutdown.
Now it has to go back to the House where
who knows. I don't think it'll be any problem getting
it through the House, because really Republicans didn't really give
(07:30):
up anything in all this. At the end of the day,
I think they realized that Democrats, you know, they didn't
vote for it. In particularly realized that, hey, you guys
are going to go ahead and go with Republicans on this,
but they haven't given us anything, and they really didn't.
What they basically agreed to was there will be a vote.
(07:50):
We will take a vote on healthcare, on healthcare subsidies,
we will take a vote on that. There's no guarantee
that the vote will pass. In fact, I would if
I'm a betting person, and I generally they probably wouldn't
at least not from what I'm seeing, wouldn't pass. So
Bernie Sanders on the floor of the Senate, this is yesterday,
before the vote took place, about ten thirty last night.
(08:11):
This is before the vote. Here's Bernie doing what Bernie does.
Speaker 19 (08:14):
And if this resolution is past tonight, we are on
a pathway to throw fifteen million Americans off of Medicaid
and the Affordable Care Act, fifteen million. Our job is
to create universal healthcare, guarantee healthcare every man, woman, and child,
(08:34):
not throw fifteen million people off the healthcare. They have
low income and working class people, and.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
My friends know what you are voting on.
Speaker 20 (08:44):
Studies are out there that when you throw fifteen million
people off healthcare, some fifty thousand of our fellow Americans
will die unnecessarily every single year.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Anyone think that's funny? Something to laugh at? Something you
just go past. I hate to say it, but as
soon as Bernie Sanders says to you with that accent
of his, does anybody think that's funny? First thing I
do is start the snicker in appropriately. But it makes
(09:19):
you laugh anyway. What Bernie Sanders has talking about there
is universal health care. No, no, he's asking for well,
we're not asking for universal health care. He does he
wants socialized medicine. But he's a Democrat socialist. That's what
he wants. He's not going to get what he wants
at any time. I hope in the future he's not
(09:40):
going to get what he wants. So, as they said,
this is the first step towards ending government shutdown. Nothing
that government is easy. You'd like to think think that
the Senate was holding it up. So if they voted
last night to stop holding it up, we'd be back
in business this morning, right, But it's not quite that simple.
I'm guessing the House will act today and we'll see
how quickly things can and rev back up here and
(10:02):
get our nation's travel schedules back in time for Thanksgiving.
Looks like it will be back in plenty of time
for that five ten time for traffic and brother together.
What's pretty skene. I'm just looking at the Fred Hartman Bridge.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
I'm supposed to look at this wreck first, though, Okay,
I'll get to the Hartman Bridge, Terry.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
I sent you a link so you can look if
you can look in your thing now. I don't know
if you can.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
North Freeway. I'm forty five southbound at six ten right.
What do you get on that ramp right where you
don't need it? You're trying to go to the working side,
or you're trying to go over to the heights. They're
letting you buy to go to the Heights side westbound.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
They're not letting you go east.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
Side to head over to the truck stops on the
East Loop. So you can't do that if you're not hazardous.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
What are you going to do?
Speaker 21 (10:43):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (10:43):
I guess you go west and go around.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
If you are not hazardous, you can go straight through
the North Freeway and make the Kadie Freeway on the
outbound side.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Here.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
I don't think this wreck's going to be here very long.
Now put your hard hats on. We're going to the
one forty six Missouri Street and that's the Fred Hartman Bridge.
Checking out Baytown side to Laport. It's pretty look both
ways here. We're in good shape here and the East
Sam Tollbridge. No suckets here yet and no big who
I going on on the East Lop sixth and.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
We look good.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
Button plants to twenty five clean bill. By the way,
Terry does not hurt cows when you DeHorn them. It's
just like, yeah, I wanted you to know.
Speaker 5 (11:19):
This is like taking claws off the cat.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
It's like your fingernails because I know you were horrified
by that thing I'll put on Facebook. But that little
squeeze shoot thing. They just cut their horns off. No,
it's like te you had your fingernails removed. No, no,
not removed, not removed, just clipped. You're just clipping there. Yeah,
it doesn't hurt them because they don't have any feeling
in their horns.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
So that's that's what that's all. I'm sorry about that
got off track out, but I wanted Terry to know
they're okay.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
I'm in the generator of Supercenter dot com traffic center.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
They are traffic and Animal Husbandry one oh one from
our KTRH top tax defenders twenty four hour weather Center.
Terry is here. Hey, Terry, let's make everybody feel so
good about living in Houston, Texas. Yeah, describe the weather
right now in Chicago.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
Okay, let's pull up Chicago.
Speaker 22 (12:07):
They're dealing with snow and lake effects, snow now around
the city. They won't see as much snow as some
of the suburbs to the north.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
And how much snow are we talking about, Terry.
Speaker 5 (12:19):
Let's see, I don't have to hear.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
They're going to measure it in feet instead of inches.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
You know, I was.
Speaker 22 (12:25):
Looking yesterday and I was seeing six to twelve inches.
Speaker 5 (12:28):
But that was yesterday.
Speaker 22 (12:30):
So let me check and see this Pacific snowfallen Mounts.
Not even Thanksgiving yet, Yeah, not even Thanksgiving. Well it's
you know, it's November. But boy, yeah, this is their
first big dose of snow. And the problem is that
the lakes are still quite warm. That moisture source is
still very much open for business, as we'd.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
Like to say, they're dealing with that.
Speaker 22 (12:53):
You know what, I'm kind of liking our weather, like, Yeah,
it's a little chilly right now, but it'll be warming
up over the next couple of days. It does not
take us long before the sun really does work its magic.
Now heis today, will be in the upper fifties to
low sixties by tomorrow. I think we're going to see
temperatures in the low to mid seventies and close to
(13:16):
eighty by Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
There you go. That didn't last long, did it?
Speaker 5 (13:19):

Texas has been ranked number one.

most electricity generation things you need to use every single
day in your homes. In fact, Texas generates more electricity
(16:34):

more Texans have a job today and.
Speaker 24 (16:51):

Speaker 24 (17:29):
The reason for the success is that Texas remains the
land of opportunity.
Speaker 13 (17:36):
We remain a state that insists on the rule of law.
In our state, we believe in things like hard work,
high expectations, and we value our faith, our families, and
our freedom. And we are a bastion of common sense
(17:57):

running for reelection as your governor for the great State
of Texas.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
Or more years that's right anyway. The question of to
day again simply is your thoughts on Greg Abbott running
for another term. Have you had enough Greg Abbott? Or
do you want more Greg Abbott? Would you rather we
had somebody else leading the ticket, just maybe new little

Thank you, Jimmy. It's five thirty one on KTRH. Our
top story.
Speaker 6 (21:46):
The President not an auto pen issuing parties for Rudy Giuliani,
Mark Menos and others accused by the Left of attempting
to overturn the twenty twenty election. In his proclamation, Trump
said that this quote ends a grave national injustice perpetrated
on the American people. The Left losing their mind over this,
(22:06):
but Houseoverside Committee Chair James Comer said they were silent
when Joe Biden's auto pen pardoned thousands in January.
Speaker 27 (22:14):
To this day, Joe Biden's never talked about those thousands
of pardons that were signed by the autopen in the
last hours of his administration.
Speaker 6 (22:22):
Comar on Fox Budd Biden did make an appearance this
weekend and speaking in Omaha on Friday night. Actually it
wasn't really speaking. It was more like rambling and yelling
at President Trump.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
You work for us, mister President, we don't work for you.
Speaker 28 (22:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (22:40):
He also claimed Democrats were quote back after last week's
election wins. Of course, didn't mention that they were in
deep blue states like California. In New York, it's now
five point thirty two on KGRH.
Speaker 29 (22:52):
On this vote, the Yas are sixty and the naser forty.
Three fifths of the Senate duly chosen and sworn having
voted in the affirmative, the motion upon reconsideration is agreed
to light.
Speaker 5 (23:05):
At the end of the tunnel for the Schumer shutdown,
eight Senate Democrats, including Dick Durbin, who's the number two
Democrat in the Senate, folded they vote with Republicans on
a revamp plan to reopen the government. The Dems did
not get the Obamacare funding they were looking for, only
a promise for a future vote. The Senate Majority leader,
(23:25):
of course, well, he wasn't happy.
Speaker 30 (23:28):
We must fight because children who are dying of cancer
will not get healthcare coverage.
Speaker 6 (23:35):
Remember, whatever the Senate passes this week must get through
the House before it gets to the President's desk.
Speaker 5 (23:42):
That means the shutdown is not quite over yet.
Speaker 6 (23:44):
We've got forty six canceled flights at Bush, another twenty
one at Hobby due to the FAA restrictions coming up now.
On five point thirty four, Houston Mayor John Whitmeyer finally
acknowledges that the city is cooperating with ICE. While speaking
at a conference over the weekend, plick Meyer said he
didn't want the city to go through the turmoil that
we have seen in cities like Los Angeles, where masked
(24:07):
anti ICE protesters have been an issue for months and
DHS finally took a major step to stop it. Those
protesters they're no longer allowed to cover their faces.
Speaker 31 (24:19):
The new rule bans everything from masks to hoods for
those violating the law.
Speaker 32 (24:23):
It protests they act with impunity because they feel like
they're not going to be able to be identifying, but
now the federal government, with this new law, will be
able to unmask them.

Five thirty eight air time. You're in Houston's morning news right.
Target is launching a flirty new rule called the ten
four rule. I want to I want to warn you
about this because if you've been to a Target, it's
pretty rare that somebody from who works at the store
will walk up to you and smile at you and
you know, act all friendly. So you might like a
(27:49):
little warning before you get approached. Their ten to four
rule goes like this. It requires their workers to engage
with the customer who's within close proximity, if they're if
you they're within ten feet of you, are to do
they have like a measuring stick or or do they
just it looks like about ten feet to me. If
they're within ten feet off, they're supposed to smile at you,
(28:13):
and then if they get within four feet, they're supposed
to make eye contact and wave or say hello. And
then they have to ask if you need help finding anything,
or if you don't, just say, you know, just a
little we'll have a great day, or whatever other little
(28:35):
pleasantry that you want to throw along. In other words,
Target is telling their employees how to behave like a
human being, because evidently that's a lost dart. Target says,
heading into the holiday, we're making adjustments and implementing new
ways to increase connection during the most important top of
the year. When do you think about that? I mean,
(28:56):
who are Talket employees. They're probably gen Z's right. They're
probab young people who who have not had a lot
of experience in things like customer service. They don't really
they're not used to approaching people they don't know. They're
not used to being friendly to people they don't know.
They're not used to smiling at people they don't know
or interacting with people they don't know. They they probably
(29:17):
had to be told this. You know, they're on the
phones all day. They don't know how to interact with
a real, live human being. The reason for doing it
is not just because they want to appear to be
more friendly. They want to make sure that they're not
losing customers. In the middle of a holiday rush, customer
is less likely to be willing to cross the store
multiple times to try to find an item or a
(29:37):
worker that seems to be approachable, So they want to
make sure their workers are approachable so that they can
answer any questions they don't know the words. They don't
want them getting frustrated. The shopper is getting frustrated trying
to find something in the store. I mean, not thinking
there's anybody that they can approach to ask by forty
time for traffic and whether together.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
I actually have something not positive about BUCkies.

different people say it. Just one person, Hey, everybody, just
smile away, just be cool.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
So you're you're saying you're criticizing them for being too friendly.
Speaker 4 (30:12):
Well, I mean it's just it's obvious to Okay, here, supervision.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
It's Supervision's fault. It is. It's compelled.
Speaker 4 (30:20):
So let's find a way to be friendly without making
it a compelled thing.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Because oh so you want to be more natural? Just
be natural. Hey, dude, I think the term of these
states is organic. I would like it to be organic.
Speaker 4 (30:32):
And oh yeah, that sounds kind of scientific, Terry. Let's
go to the north side here, Nord Sam west boundicy authentic.

the government shutdown appears to be ending here, certainly with
the next day or two, SNAP benefits are back on
the table. But I don't think we're talking about done
(32:55):
talking about Snap. I think I think one of the
things that has happened result of all this is the
knowledge of knowing just how many people are on Snap
that shouldn't be on Snap, and how much fraud and
abuse is going on. So there's a real real call
here to reform the Snap program. More than that coming
up next first, though, traffic and weather together's we check

I live in Katie, I live in Ito. Your reliable
forecast next on the ten on seven forty KTRH five
fifty three our time here on Houston's morning News. I
think there is an understanding that there needs to be
some reform of the Snap benefit program, that there's a
lot of fraud and abuse people who are getting food
(35:08):
stamps that shouldn't people who are getting food stamps and
selling them, and it's such an expensive program we need
to get we need to get our hands into this
and fix what's wrong with it. Here is EGG Secretary
Brooke Wallins and her department is responsible for the SNAP program.
Here's what she had to say about it.
Speaker 40 (35:26):
Listen, people want the government open. They want those who
are the most vulnerable, who are hungry, to make sure
that they are fed. That's the SNAP program. But within
all of that, the level of fraud and corruption and
double dipping and selling benefits is astounding, and I think
it hit a nerve with America fed. To have our
discussion forty million people watch it about how corrupt the
(35:49):
SNAP program is, how we have to fix it, I
think just tells you that Americans are paying attention and
they're not okay with government as usual. We need to
clean the house up, and that's what we're doing.
Speaker 12 (35:58):
So.
Speaker 41 (35:58):
The Center for Immigrations Studies has found that's anywhere from
fifty to sixty percent of households that are headed by
illegal immigrants rely on SNAP benefits and other programs similar
to that.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
Is there a problem with that?
Speaker 1 (36:15):
Well, we at the almost the very beginning.
Speaker 40 (36:17):
I think on my first day, I sent a letter
to every governor in America saying, send us your data.
No illegal aliens on any SNAP or food stamp or
WIG program, period, full stop. Everyone said, oh no, we're
not doing that. It is illegal, I mean, it is
not allowable. However, the twenty nine states, mostly red states,
that sent us their data, what we found was really
(36:38):
astounding and now we're in lawsuits to get the rest
of the data so that we can work to fix this.
So there is no doubt that there is a massive,
massive fraud.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
In the program.
Speaker 40 (36:48):
But having said that, the Democrats have voted fifteen times
to not fund SNAP. There are legitimate families in this country, yes,
that rely on that program to feed their family.
Speaker 5 (36:58):
We got to get the government.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
Well, looks like we're well on our way to get
in the government open at this point. Again, sent voting
last night about ten thirty last night, sixty forty got
eight Democrats to go along with the reopening the government.
Now it's got to go to the House. But I
would I would think, you know, unless somebody and less
somebody in the House doesn't like the deal, it's a
clean cr I mean, I don't know what Democrats got
(37:23):
other than a promise to take up the issue of
healthcare benefits, but it's something they'd already said that they
were willing to do, so I don't doesn't look to
me like they gave up anything, which I'm pleasantly surprised at.

The Senate broke a filibuster on a new GOP spending
package which will end the shutdown.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
The vote was sixty to forty.
Speaker 8 (39:42):
The Senate needed all sixty of those yas to break
the filibuster. Fifty two Republicans and eight Democrats teamed up
to greenlight the.
Speaker 6 (39:50):
Bill Fox's Chad program on Capitol Hill. Now, Democrats did
not get the Obamacare subsidies. They wanted, only the promise
of a future vote. This still needs to be approved
by the House after the Senate finally votes on a
full deal. This means the travel headaches could end soon
as well, but today we've got sixty seven flights canceled
between both Bush and Hobby airports. Now, the Democrats hurt
(40:14):
our national security during this shutdown. It actually forced the
Trump administration to furlough nuclear weapons contractors. Experts say there'll
be ramifications for slowing down the modernization of our defense systems.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
The Chinese have doubled their nuclear arsenal well. We can't
fall behind in terms of our national security. So this
is starting to get very serious.
Speaker 6 (40:34):
Professor Jeff Atticott heads the Warrior Defense Project at Saint

Speaker 12 (40:47):
When you break it down by various categories, we found

Bill Dagasino with Media Research Center says that in the past,
the party in the Democrat position would be severely criticized,
but strangely enough, that didn't happen this time. It's now

Speaker 1 (41:24):
And we will win.
Speaker 5 (41:26):
Governor announcing his run for an historic fourth term.
Speaker 6 (41:29):
This comes after voters passed all seventeen of the propositions
he pushed for last Tuesday, and his announcement came one
day after California Governor Gavin Newsom came to Houston himself
to talk about last week's election and pretty much just
to attack Donald Trump.
Speaker 23 (41:45):
He is an historic president, however, historically unpopular President.
Speaker 6 (41:51):
California passed Prop fifty retaliation for the new congressional maps
here in Texas. Last week's election signaled a troubling turnout
trend for Republicans, though election data guru Ryan Derst Ryan
Gerdusky told Brekebart that many of Trump's twenty twenty four
voters just didn't show up.
Speaker 16 (42:10):
There is a big question over lowber pennsity voters that
voted for Donald Trump in part because they thought, we
need a change in our country. We don't like the
way the associate the economy is being run. And he
changed the economy one time, and maybe he could do
it again, and so far he's kind of been unable to.
Speaker 6 (42:26):
He predicts that Democrats will turn out in presidential year
numbers for the midterms because of their Trump derangement syndrome.
The president has promised a two thousand dollars tariff dividend
check for everyone except for high income earners. Stock market
likes all of this. Overnight futures are up almost two
hundred points. Oil futures are up to about fifty nine

were last month.
Speaker 5 (42:55):
The climate crowd isn't.
Speaker 42 (42:56):
Going to like this.
Speaker 6 (42:57):
Ford is going to pull the plug on its F
one fifty DV model, with executives debating whether to end
production due to weak demand for electric trucks. Dealers say
gas and hybrid F series are still moving while the
Lightning model just sits there.
Speaker 35 (43:12):
People who use their trucks for work, I don't want
to spend thirty minutes at a charger. That's money out
of their pocket.
Speaker 6 (43:20):
KTRH carpro Jerry Reynolds also says the range of three
hundred miles stated at least for the Lightning drops in
half when you haunt just five thousand pounds of cargo
for past production last month. It's concentrating on smaller, more
affordable evs instead. Another potentially good sign for the economy,
holiday sales are expected to top a trillion dollars for
(43:43):
the first time ever this season.
Speaker 43 (43:45):
The National Retail Federation projects a four point three percent

Lone Star College's economic professor Hank Lewis says he's not
sure if the forecasted number is inflation adjusted or not.
Speaker 17 (44:01):
We've been looking at massive amounts of layoffs that are

Speaker 43 (44:06):

Speaker 3 (44:56):
What happens?
Speaker 1 (44:57):
The things are happening right here on news radio KTRH.
Speaker 3 (45:03):
Yeah, the checks in the mail, Sure it is six
oh seven is our time here in Houston's waring year?
All right, President Trump, it's sending out on true social
guests say the following message. People that are against tariffs
are fools. All caps. We are now the richest most
respected country in the world, with almost no inflation, in
a record stock market price four oh one k's our
(45:26):
highest ever. We are taking in trillions of dollars and
will soon begin paying down our enormous debt. Also in caps,
thirty seven trillion record investment in the USA, Plants and
factories going up all over the place. A dividend of
at least two thousand dollars a person, not including high
income people, will be paid to everyone. Okay, Well, a
(45:52):
couple questions come to mind. How close is this to reality?
Because I seem to recall a similar statement for the
President on Doge. Although he didn't really promise the Doze cuts,
he mentioned that maybe we could end up having getting
a check because of Doze. You know that he was
(46:13):
going to share a portion of the savings with Americans,
but I think it turned out that they didn't cut
as much stuff as maybe he thought was going to
get cut. This sounds more like a promise that he's
going to send most Americans at least two thousand dollars
in thanks to tariff income. Now, I don't know what
(46:33):
the President means by the qualifier he put on people
who make a very good living. I don't know what
he considers to be the highest income earners, because he
did say that the difendend would not include high income people.
(46:54):
What in the President's world is high income people? Is
that somebody making five hundred thousand dollars a year or more,
somebody making a million dollars a year more, somebody making
four hundred three hundred thousand is what is high income people?
So that part, I guess would have to be figured out,
(47:15):
And of course we'll have to wait and see if
it actually does happen. But at least he's laying it
down there as a potential promise. Six to ten. Time
for traffic and weather together, sky Mike, the floor is yours, sir.
Speaker 4 (47:25):

if that were the case, you would have reported on it.
Speaker 4 (48:09):
Yeah, that's probably a leftover, you know what. I know
the people that do those signs. So let me fix that.

Speaker 22 (48:59):
Hey, it does not last very long. That's the upside
of the chili weather we have right now. Temperatures are
starting out in the forties for many of us windshills.
This morning could run as cold as the mid twenties
to mid thirties, So make sure you have something warm
on when you leave the house.
Speaker 5 (49:17):
That does include your kids.
Speaker 22 (49:19):
I know they probably don't want to put on anything
more than a hoodie, and hopefully that'll do them just fine.
We'll wind up in the upper fifties to low sixties today,
it's not going to be it's still chilly tonight, temperatures
mid thirties to mid forties.
Speaker 5 (49:33):
But then tomorrow we got southerly winds working their magic.
Speaker 22 (49:37):
It's going to be so nice chilly tomorrow morning, but
then by the afternoon load of mid seventies near eighty

Speaker 3 (51:54):
Ktrh, yeah we've seen plenty of anarchy in our, nation
cities and, versifully we've not seen it In. Houston and
how refreshing was, it by the, way to Hear Mayor whitmeyer, say,
yeah we're cooperating WITH. Ice nuff, said we're. Cooperating clearly they're.
Cooperating there have been thousands OF ice arrests here in
the city Of. Houston you don't don't hear about any
(52:15):
huge protests going on or demonstrations with massed individuals riding
in the. Streets says a lot about who we. ARE
i Think Doctor Greg, FREEMAN Hpd captain retired joins, us
let's start with the cooperation. Thing how refreshing is that
to hear that we have A democrat mayor who's cooperating WITH.
Speaker 45 (52:33):
ICE i think it's, Amazing, jimmy and thank you for
having me. On and what you just said strikes at
the point of who we are As. Houstonians we have
never had anything like this happen in our. City while
other cities burn historically for the last four or fifty,
years with social and civil, Unrest houston has remained relatively.
Speaker 3 (52:51):
Common that has a lot to.
Speaker 45 (52:52):
Do with the leadership and the history of our police department.
Speaker 3 (52:55):
Here, no you're. Right, also we have this new rule
the federal government evidently ready to go ahead and. Enforce
it wasn't supposed to go into effect Until, january BUT
i guess it's going into effect. Immediately if you're an
ANTI ice, agitator if you're there, protesting if you are
wearing a, mask you'll be arrested for no other purpose
than the fact that you're wearing a mask attempting to
(53:15):
conceal your.
Speaker 45 (53:16):
IDENTITY i think it's an amazing piece of federal. Legislation
and one thing that we've known to be true about these,
protesters And i've seen his. Firsthand you have a very
small percentage of people that truly are protesting Their First
amendment right to come out to these, venues and they really.
Are but embedded within these groups you have a large
contingency of. Criminals you have agitators FROM, Ice you've got,
(53:38):
anarchists you've got people that just simply hate the, police
and you have. Criminals and there's a lot of anonymity
when you put a mask, on and there's a lot
of Psychology jimmy behind this that emboldens them to do
things that they wouldn't normally. Do so being able to
unmask them immediately and unseal who they really are is
going to strike fear in their hearts, immediately AND i
think you'll see a lot large reduction in these protests,
(54:03):
that especially at THE ice.
Speaker 3 (54:04):
Facilities, WELL i think too that what people will, find
assuming that the protesting, continues that we're arrestling the same
people over and over and over. Again it's not like
we've got thousands of people who are participating these. Protests
we've got the same people protesting over and over.
Speaker 45 (54:19):
Again now that's exactly, right and our intelligence has clearly
shown these people are paid protesters being funded By sorrows
and other left wing radical, organizations and they're traveling from
city to city to. City they have a vast, network
they communicate, effectively and it's an organization that'ssuming, this there's
no doubt about.
Speaker 3 (54:36):
That so is part of the solution, here Doctor, freeman
to not just out the, protesters but to out the
money source of these, protesters to make sure everybody understands
where this money is coming, from and can we prosecute
groups that are willing to spend money to pay protesters
to agitate into cause.
Speaker 45 (54:55):
Violence, absolutely and the fact that the federal government and
administration just Declared antifa a terrorist. Organization once you start
finding out sources of money that's coming into, that they
are co conspirators on that federal level as, well and
you will see a large reduction in the people that
are doing this because once you do expose who they
are and they realize that they're looking at federal jail,
(55:18):
time which we know that they're going to serve ninety
percent of the. Sentences then wait to these people that
have just been recently arrested over the last several months
for interfering and assaulting federal. Officers when their cases go
to court and their sentences become, known it's going to
send shockwaves through that community because they're going to realize
that the government means.

Day, fine use radio seven FORTY. Ktrh, well let's bote
this idea. Passed you've just by the way seven o
eight our time here In Houston's Forning. News President trump
is proposing that we have fifty year. Mortgages woo, wow
(01:21:13):
fifty year? Mortgage what would that end up? Costing you
looked at the apergization, sheet like, right when you buy
a house and you get a thirty year home, loan
which very few people pay. OFF i guess that's the.
Idea you get someone who's young and they're this their first.
House they're not going to be paying that off. Anyway
(01:21:34):
But i'll get into the downside of this other than
that in just a. Second fifty that's locking you in
for fifty years on a. Mortgage, wow are you ever
going to pay off that? House are you ever going
to own that? Home if you're thirty years, Old if
you get fifty year loaning and you don't move, again
you stay in that, house it would take you it
would take you to eighty to pay the thing. Off
(01:21:56):
is this a good idea or. Not you, know there
was not a thirty year home loan BEFORE. Fdr that's
part of the new deal was thirty year home. Loans
they hadn't existed before. Then Now President trump is proposing
a fifty year. Loan here's Economist Steve moore tackling the.
Speaker 1 (01:22:12):
Issue here's what would happen if you have these fifty year.
Speaker 49 (01:22:15):
Mortgages your monthly mortgage payment would go, down, Right, charlie
because you're paying that mortgage over fifty years rather than
say twenty or thirty. Years so if you want to
make housing more affordable in the very short, term that
might be a good way to bring down monthly mortgage.
Speaker 1 (01:22:33):
Payments but then you're going to pay for a long long.
Speaker 49 (01:22:36):
Time you're going to be fanning that mortgage payment for
most of your. Life and so that's a question of
whether it makes sense financially to. People but right, now
where people are really struggling to find a home where
they can meet those mortgage, payments it might make sense for.
People by the, way the federal government should also be
issuing fifty year debt because interest rates are low and
be a way for us to lock in low interest.
(01:22:58):
Rates so that if we had a spike and interest
rates in the, future we wouldn't be in a real
problem situation.
Speaker 41 (01:23:05):
Financially and so of course after thirty, years if you
had a fifty year, mortgage after thirty, years the way
banks structure, loans you probably still wouldn't, own but about
ten percent actually, own but about twenty percent of.
Speaker 1 (01:23:19):
That it's a good.
Speaker 49 (01:23:19):
Point that's a good. Point you, know you, want you
want to build up equity in your. Home that's why
a lot of, people you, know when they have the
financial means to do, so they speed up their mortgage.
Payments but, listen the problem with our housing situation right
now really is so many restrictions on building multifamily homes
in a lot of. Areas by the, WAY i can
tell you one city In america where housing prices are
(01:23:42):
going to go way.
Speaker 5 (01:23:42):
Down you know what city that?
Speaker 3 (01:23:44):
Is what's That New York?
Speaker 49 (01:23:46):
City because everybody's going to move out exactly. Exactly so
if you want to buy a, house maybe think about
doing it In New.
Speaker 3 (01:23:51):
York, no, thanks do need a communist, mayor thank you very.
Speaker 45 (01:23:55):
Much.
Speaker 3 (01:23:55):
Yeah the downside is the home equity part of. It
you don't build up the home, equity which is what
gives you your down payment for the next alum that you.
Buy it takes a lot longer to do, it take
a lot longer to pay it. Off you lower your.
Payments but that's about the only good thing that comes
out of that seven eleven time for traffic and weather.
Together you older to think what the ghetto house will
look like in fifteen. Years, well there's that. Too imagine
(01:24:17):

Speaker 47 (01:29:32):
Would say first of all that ALTHOUGH i realized some
listeners may have found it, boring for, me listening to
that argument and all the constitutional phrases being bandied back
and forth was like a double jolt of. CAFFEINE i loved.
It and look what The Supreme court is wrestling with
is As President trump correctly noted an absolutely critical, question
and it goes to your point Whether congress actually gave
(01:29:54):
The president the power to impose these. Tariffs and so
the justices asked hardcore questions of both. Sides, look they
pushed the administration's lawyers, saying where do you see the
language and the law that.
Speaker 1 (01:30:06):
Gave trump the power to do what he.
Speaker 47 (01:30:07):
Did but they also pushed back against the people challenging the,
tariff saying, that, look the president was acting in his
role as commander in, chief as controller of our foreign,
policy and maybe he gets a bit more leeway in that.
Context but the bottom line is that the court did
seem to doubt That congress gave the president such broad.
Authority and, look if the court ultimately Says trump went too,
(01:30:29):
far you're absolutely. Right he has other statutes he could
rely on to impost, tariffs Or congress could simply ratify
what the president has already.
Speaker 50 (01:30:37):
Done all, Right, taylor assume argue into the worst case,

Speaker 37 (01:31:01):
Question we're looking at what could be north of one
hundred billion dollars looking to be. RETURNED i think that's
worst case scenario of people trying to figure out if
the court deems this attacks on businesses or attacks on,
consumers how do you start to redistribute the refunds of
all of.
Speaker 5 (01:31:16):
THAT i don't think anyone wants.
Speaker 1 (01:31:18):
To try to think about how that.
Speaker 37 (01:31:19):
GOES i think the good, news, Though, tray is that
markets and business leaders want. Certainty so if The Supreme court,
says go for, it this is, okay markets and business
leaders and corporations say, GREAT i can plan for. That
if The Supreme court, says, no The president overstepped and
you can't do, this business leaders and corporations in the
(01:31:41):
market will say, GREAT i can plan for.

That.

Speaker 3 (01:31:47):
So they just business just needs a. Decision Wall street
just wants a decision one way or. Another the idea,
though of giving back one hundred and fifty billion, DOLLARS i,
mean that doesn't seem like the world's easiest thing to.
Do maybe The Supreme court would rule that he didn't
have to give the money, back but he can't do

that he's running for a fourth term that that he

hasn't been offered, anything or does it not interested in

abbott and the amazing work he has done and has
almost twelve years in office as our. Governor he has
always Led texas in the right. Direction grudge on the
border and an education and a.
Speaker 3 (01:42:11):
Lot of issues he.
Speaker 21 (01:42:12):
Has there's still a lot of work to be done
on property, taxes and, HONESTLY i will not be happy
until property taxes are fully. Eliminated so unless there's someone
better Than abbot who will campaign on eliminating taxes and
follow through with, it my vote.

i would like to see a, good vibrant primary process
happen and might have earned, it not just walk in
and not have anybody go up against.

HIM i think there's gonna be a lot of people
who are like that last. Guy i'm okay If abbott
is going to be governor for another four. Years AM
i excited about? It i'm certainly more happy about it
than if the idea that we could have a democrat
in the. Office for, Sure BUT i think a lot
of us think, that, yeah there's there's bound to be something.

Speaker 3 (01:47:45):
Marine and now you would like to Be Texas attorney. General,
man that's a crowded field to get. Into what makes
you want to run for attorney? General?
Speaker 28 (01:47:52):
Well, LOOK i MEAN i think it's great that we
are formally filing for my candidacy on the two hundred
and fiftieth birthday of the State's Marine. Corps because when
the stakes are high and when the fight is. Hot
our country sends in The.
Speaker 1 (01:48:06):
Marines that's what we.
Speaker 44 (01:48:07):
Do.
Speaker 28 (01:48:08):
Okay we are The United states lethal fighting, edge the
tip of the. Spear and the reason Why i'm running
For Texas Attorney general is because we are in an
existential conflict with the forces of the, left AND i
know from personal experience that the primary arena in which
we're fighting these dark forces is the justice. System we
need battle, tested battle hardened marines who have proven themselves, litigating, investigating, suing,
(01:48:33):
defending and appealing on all the major issues that determine
really the future of our country and the state Of.
Texas And i'm the only one in this crowded field
who's been in legal combat for years and, years fighting
against and winning against the left in court and throughout
the justice.
Speaker 3 (01:48:49):
System that's Why i'm. Running you, Know it's one thing
to have to fight against the federal government when the
federal government is being run by the. Left right right,
now it's a little bit easier thanks for having The
trump administration, there but is we get more and more
people moving here From california and maybe From New york
now that they've decided they're going to go communists with
their next. Mayor it might get a little bit tougher here, Too, right.
Speaker 28 (01:49:11):
For, sure you have no. Doubt, LOOK i Was Attorney
General Ken paxson's deputy for three years fighting against The biden.
Administration packson has endorsed me to succeed him as the
Next Attorney general Of, texas and that's because of my
record suing The biden. Administration in, FACT i sued the
forty six president forty six times AND i won eighty
five percent of those. Cases now you're exactly, right, Though,
(01:49:32):
Jimmy we've got an ally in The White. House in,
FACT i just came from the presidentially Appointed senate confirmed
role as the head of The office Of Legal policy
In Trump's Justice. Department and so there's no greater friend
as the next age Of texas who can partner with
The trump, administration with The Justice, department with The department
Of Homeland security to bring those, benefits resources and focus
(01:49:56):
to Benefit texas as a. Whole but you're also exactly.
Right we've got these deep blue pockets In, texas the
big blue, cities the big blue counties in, particular where
a lot of your listeners are at here In Harris
county and in The city Of. Houston there is so much, fraud, waste, abuse,
criminality just absolute chaos and corruption that's, happening and The
(01:50:16):
Attorney general is going to play a critical role in
smoking out that, corruption holding corrupt public officials, responsible and
ensuring that our big blue pockets In, texas which you're
getting bluer and bluer by the day for the same
reasons as you just, said we need a Chief Legal
officer Of texas who's going to come bring the heat
to these. Guys and there's nobody better that's able to
(01:50:39):
do that than. Me, heck fighting corruption In Harris county
is a full time job in and of. Itself, yeah
we've only got a few seconds. Left but as we,
mentioned it is a crowded, field and you have some
people Like Chip roy with name, recognition so obviously coming
out of our program and other programs to get attention
is a good. Idea what are the things can you
do to try to make inroads when you're running against
(01:51:00):
relatively big. Names, YEAH i think the only big name
in this race really Is Chip. Roy there are other
two locals who folks in The Harris county area may,
know but really their campaigns are, floundering and they're not
running credible. Campaigns the issue here is who is best
qualified to serve as the next chief legal officer Of.
Texas and my record, litigating, investigating, suing, defending and appealing
(01:51:21):
on all the major issues puts me head and shoulders
above the. Competition and even IF i were to grant
That Chip roy has higher NAME, id which of course he,
does he's been In congress blasting The, president BLASTING maga,
voters trying to Get Ken paxson removed from office his
high NAME. Id the flip side of that coin is
he's got catastrophically bad. Negatives he called For President trump
(01:51:41):
to be impeached In january twenty twenty. One he sided
With Mike pence to certify the stolen election of twenty.
Twenty he was the first elected official in The United
states to call For Ken packson to be removed from.
Office this is somebody who is too, unstable an eaglemaniacal
to be trusted as the Next Attorney general Of. Texas
AND i guarantee you That President trump will not be
happy when if he's elected as THE ag because of
(01:52:03):
how many times he's backstabbed The president's supporters as well
As President. Trump If texans want What President trump called,
