supposed to be clearing any moment now, I do want to call it clear,
and Joe, I know for sureforty five north that roadwork at westbound

News Radio seven forty KTRH. Itis time now for the news. Here's
Sheriff Fryar and good morning everyone. It is now five oh one on news
Radio seven forty KTRH. Our topstory this hour. He should have a
cognitive test, and before the debatein two weeks he should take a drug
test, because I'm will leave totag for him. Donald Trump rallying with

(01:53):
more than twenty thousand supporters in LasVegas yesterday where the wind blew over the
teleprompter and he spoke for more thanan hour anyway, And then there was
note card Joe Biden ending his tripto France with yet another gaff. We
had to wait all those months justto get the money for a wreck because
we were waiting. I mean,it's not who we are. Biden confusing

(02:15):
Iraq with Ukraine. He should havesaid. The two presidential candidates are supposed
to debate on June twenty seventh.Trump also spent part of the weekend in
deep blue California, large grounds ofsupporters and even voters in Newport Beach coming
out to greet him. As forthe Manhattan guilty verdict against Trump, the
appointed judge Jan Mershaun, informing Trump'slegal team and prosecutors at a Facebook post

(02:39):
by an alleged cousin of one ofthe jurors, implied that the jury discussed
the verdict in advance. This wasan Alice in Wonderland case with a mad
hatter judge. Yeah, so whathappens now? Mistrial gag orders staying in
effect for what weeks on in throughoutthe summer. Legal analyst Greg Jarrett on

(03:01):
Fox News, federal gun trial ofHunter Biden resuming this morning with a defense
presenting its case. Will Hunter testify? Probably not, but we'll find out
more on that trial. Five pointthirty. It's now five oh three.
New CBS pulling after the conviction showsthat Trump is still in the lead over
Biden fifty percent of support of likelyvoters. Trump reportedly vetting eight candidates as

(03:28):
VP, with the convention just overa month away in Milwaukee. When it
comes to making that choice, there'sjust one thing Trump needs to consider.
The true criteria is ken Gammer orher whomever it is helping with. It
really doesn't matter about government, It'sabout winning the election. Political strategist Bill
Miller told k TRH it's still hardto predict who Trump will actually pick.

(03:50):
He's talking to a lot of people, he's asking for information, so right
now, no short list. Alot of candidates seem to be considered and
bandied about and discussed and whatever,Miller says. Because of how close this
election is, who Trump picks couldinfluence a lot of voters. Ethan Buchanan
News Radio seven forty KRH is nowfive oh four one of those being vetted

(04:11):
by the campaign. Arkansas Senator TomCotton. I think that he'll make the
right He'll make a choice when he'sready to make that choice. I'm confident
he's gonna make a good choice forthe ticket and the party, more importantly,
for the country. Cotton on FoxNews Sunday. He also called for
a January sixth style investigation into theanti Israel demonstrators in Washington on Saturday.

(04:38):
It was big, it was loud, one person arrested. Police deployed pepper
spray and smoke flares against the agitators. Here at home, a group of
Texas House Conservatives, including Conro's SteveToath, they could actually be expelled by
the state GOP because they violated thequote Incumbent Protection Program campaign against House Republican

(05:00):
incumbents who kills school choice and whohelped impeach Texas Attorney General Ken Baxton.
We just got off an election cyclewhere I believed fourteen incumbent laws. Many
of those were people who had theirchallengers endorsed by the governor. These members
were campaigning alongside them for those conservativechallengers, and now they're trying to be
punished for it, punished by supportersof State House Speaker Dade Feelin. Yeah,

(05:26):
you know, the rhino who wonhis runoff and faces now two challengers
for his speakership. Still got someclout. Also in Austin, the Travis
County DA seeking to overturn Daniel Perry'spardon for killing a BLM writer rioter who
advanced on him pointing a rifle athis face. But the chances of success

(05:48):
are basically zero considering the governor hasthe right to grant a pardon. This
is a dangerous precedent. So youare trying to overlook or outpower a state
constitution, which is not going tobe successful. Conservative attorney Michelle Maples says
this could lead to other states doingthe same, and this play is solely
due to it being an election year. These people just want to win.

(06:12):
They just won another notch in theirbelt, and they could care what about
justice. She says, they shouldfocus on making their city safer rather than
political games. Andre Perard News Radioseven forty KTRH, we had another violent
weekend in and around Houston. Detailson that at five point thirty. It's
now five oh six. So HarrisCounty budget director told Commissioner's Court last week

(06:32):
that this county has a deficit ofnearly one hundred and thirty million dollars next
year. Former GOP candidate for countyJudge Alexandra Mieler says local Democrats they've been
spending too much for too long. There is this kind of poor group of
hardcore progressives that have really controlled ourcity and county. Now that the city's

(06:54):
broke and the county's broke, allof these issues are coming to a head,
and it's just really a terrible trajectory. Yeah, she says, big
cuts are needed, and there's another big elephant in the room, the
big issue higher appraisals to offset reductionsin property taxes. Mieler will join us
here on Houston's Morning News. It'sseven twenty this morning. Repairs from storms

(07:15):
in May early June will likely leadto an increase in bills for Centerpoint customers.
Centerpoint Energy's executive VP of Regulatory Servicesand Government Affairs, his name is
Jason Ryan, says overall costs aregoing to be at least one hundred million
dollars. We had to wait allthose months just to get the money for
a wreck and wait because we werewaiting. I mean, it just it

(07:38):
just it's not who we are. That is not Ryan. Sorry, that
was the President making his gaff again. It is now five eight. The
Astros lose to the Angels ninety seven. They played the Padres in San Diego
tonight. Pregame on Sports Talk sevenninety and here on KTRH as well.
Starting at seven thirty pm, I'mSheriff Fryar on News Radio. Houston's Morning

(08:03):
News continues with Jimmy Verrett and SheriffFryar. Forget swimming pools, forget home
theaters, forget Butler's poundries, forgetone sellars. If you're going to buy
a luxury home in Houston, thefirst question these days that a byrass does

(08:24):
it have a whole house generator?Really we've gotten to that point, have
we? Yes, we have.According to a local realtor, her name
is Dede Guggenheim Howes, that's quitea quite a handle. She specializes in
luxury home sales here in Houston. She said, people are really concerned.

(08:45):
People moving here are really concerned aboutnatural disasters. You know, they still
remember Harvey in all the footage theysaw from Harvey. Hey, when I
moved here right after Harvey, thisfirst thing on my mind. But it
wasn't a whole house generated It wason my mind. It was it was
how far above sea level is thishouse? Was the first thing on my

(09:05):
mind. But that's what everybody wantsto know now. So if you're looking
for a home, improvement item thatcan probably make your life a lot better.
Right now, investing in a wholehouse generator seems like a good way
to go because that's what people wantwhen they're when they're looking to buy your
house. Does it have not aportable generator? Does it have a whole
house generator that'll automatically come on andgive me power? Because that's what they're

(09:30):
worried about. How about that fiveto ten time for traffic and weather together.
It is from Spring Creek, That'sit. That's true. Yeah,
topography matters in Houston, Texas abeautiful place, but you know, if
you're a paddler, like a kayakeror a canoe or Spring Creek is probably
the best place in the old southeastcorner of the you know, it's it's
like a beach with a stream inthe middle of it. I can't wait

(09:50):
to go. All right, let'sdo some freeways. We've got a couple
of stalls here on the North Freeway, PARAMOUNTA southbound, which sounds romantic,
but it's a big r right shoulder. He's just sitting there not bothering anybody.
You've got the other one at justbefore Luetta, and that's on the
outbound side, so nobody's too worriedabout him. I'm a little concerned about
this guy on the north Loop eastboundat Jensen that's just past fifty nine,

(10:13):
is on the right side. Butand this is a big but it's right
after you're getting off the east textFreeway off that entrance ramp, So let's
watch out and they may tick theright lane. There. Rest of your
freeways rocking along for now, I'mgoing to yield my time the Generator Supercenter
dot Com Traffic Center from r KTRHtop ACS Avenders twenty four hour Weather Center.
We have Terry Smith's standing. Butit looks like a typical summertime forecast

(10:35):
for this week. You know,it certainly feels like that, with the
possibility of saray today, Tomorrow,Wednesday, and even into Thursday. At
this point. Toward the end ofthe week, though, I think we'll
dry out. So it's an interestingsetup. There's a front stall to the
north. We're going to see acouple of weak disturvices had our way,

(10:56):
so a forty percent chance of thoseshowers and thunderstorms on this afternoon. A
little bit of he hating of theday I'll help us out as well.
And we've got that forty percent chanceof rain tomorrow afternoon and again Wednesday,
uper eighties to low nineties through midweek. Thursday, we'll start to dry out
a little bit, but still athirty percent chance of rain. Friday,
I think just sunshine and with aless rain, we're going to have a

(11:18):
little more heat toward the end ofthe week. Temperatures load to mid nineties
Thursday and Friday. Right now, seventy eight. Here at your officials,
Severe Weather Station News Radio seven fortyKTRH. It's Houston's Morning News, brought
to you by New South Windows Solutions. Now back to Jimmy and Shara with
the info you need to take onthe days. A guy by the name

(11:39):
of Darren Carr. He's at CarTalent Acquisitions and they try to help companies
find talent. He's talking about shortagesfor police officers, but still we have
shortages for truck drivers. And hegot interesting reason as to why we have
that shortage. Right now, they'reless and less drivers are able to yees
in this tool, so the supplyis becoming extremely limited compared to years in

(12:03):
the past. The driving schools areteaching automatic, So those small companies,
those companies that are hard that arehauling large equipments or heavy materials aren't typically
supported by automatic transmission. So that'sone reason. But the industry is also
slowing to a lot of factors, including favoring the larger companies, which which
are able to provide their own insuranceand are exempt from the fees and the

(12:26):
taxes and the regulations that the smallercompanies are able to abide by. So
it's pushing out some of the smallermidsized companies. And lastly, the price
of diesel and fuel and et ceterais increasing. Darren, let me quick
ask you about police recruits. Iknow there's a lot of demand. What's
the supply like in this environment? The supply is very limited. The police
departments are very much struggling. There'svery much been a dip in law enforcement

(12:48):
hiring and applications in the last severalyears. It's always been a problem.
It's a significant trend here in thelast problem. In the last couple of
years. It used to be thatwe had hundreds of people applying for one
position, and now we have ahandful, and a lot of those folk
are qualified, Yeah quickly. Yeah, No, I mean I'm curious too

(13:09):
about the young generation. Gen Zis being called the tool belt generation.
Do you see that? Yes,I am seeing that they are doing more
trade schools. That's correct and Z. The good news about gen Z and
even the millennials, that's good newsto police departments trained to hire out there,
is that what's important to these generationsis the ability to make a big

(13:31):
difference in the organization that they're in. Certainly that can be the case and
is the case with law enforcement. So that's one of the ways in which
they're trying to attract those generations. So gen Z is going to trade school
down more. That's a good thing. That's a good thing to see.
I was to all have a policeofficers shortage and qualify people who are applying
for that type of position. Butthe truck driving thing, then the stick

(13:52):
shift still mystifies me a little bit. You know, the fact that paying
for their own insurance, these bigcompanies here we go with centralized control of
everything. Well, the big guyswin, the guys. You know,
is great to get a tool belt, but who you gonna work for?
I mean, the point is toopen up your own business one day,
you know, to grow it soundslike that. Are you going to be
able to do it in this environmentwhere you can't afford the insurance and everything

(14:13):
else? Yeah, it sounds likeit's pretty tough to be an independent truck
driver. Right now, let's takea look at traffic and whether together we're
checking out the drive once again. This can drive a stick right, Yeah?
Absolutely? This guy get write incursive? Yes, like superpowers.
That's right. I can read theDeclaration of Independence as it's written. Dude.
Let's do some south Loop here. We've got something south Loop east bound.
What are you doing after fan andyou're sitting right there on the right

(14:37):
side. I had a possum inmy fan belt, That's what I thought.
Eastbound we have extra laneage. Nowwe've got the north Loop sixteen.
I'm a little worried about that oneon the north Loop. That's a stall
east bound at Jensen. He's rightafter the merge with fifty nine, and
the lighting has been real iffy lately. So let's watch out. That's north
Loop six' ten westbound as you'reheading over from the squeeze back over toward

(14:58):
Elbeach Hospital. Let's be super differentcareful there also got to stall on a
North Freeway paramount and no big deal. He's over on the sideway. By
the way. I'm interviewing with ChristinaHadley of text dot today. I'm hearing
rumblings that they may do something crazywith that road construction that's coming up over
the Brazzes River and sixty nine. We'll get to that, and of course
we'll be your source for it.Skymikeh the Generator Supercenter, dot Com,

It was another violent weekend here acrossthe Greater Houston area. A new

that's right. Met for over anhour. If the telepropter stopped working.

(16:48):
It was the wind. The windwas really strong. And complimented the
wind because it was bringing cooler airto everybody. Yeah, that's the second
venue where we've had a thousands ofpeople standing on them. They were lined
up before on to get in tosee him, and he had something very
popular to say, in Las Vegas, in anywhere where you have a lot
of people working in the hospitality industry. Oh, here's President Trump talking about

(17:12):
taxing your tips. This is thefirst time I've said this. And for
those hotel workers and people that gettips, you're going to be very happy
because when I get to office,we are going to not charge taxes on
tips. People making tips. It'sbeen a point of contention for years and

(17:32):
years and years, and you doa great job of service, You take
care of people, and I thinkit's going to be something that really has
deserved more important, popular or unpopular. I do some unpopular to think two
of it's right for the country.I do what's right. I don't have
a problem with not taxing tips.I really don't. You know those those

(17:52):
people are making, you know, two ten cents an hour. In many
cases, you'll get rid of alot of that online, you know,
at checkout, because business owners haveto protect themselves, because they have to
report the IRS what their employees aremaking in tips. That's why they keep
asking you, I had a putit on your credit cards so they can

(18:14):
keep track, right I had.I had a wait staff person who showed
me her check that she had fortwo weeks because they automatically take out a
certain amount of tip tacks even ifthey didn't whether they made it or they
didn't make it, oh Man,and she had her check was like thirty
eight bucks for like two weeks. So you want to talk about living on
tips, I mean a lot ofthese people literally are living on tips.

(18:37):
You know, they did try,and they were and it worked. They
tried to mess things up. Well, they're always good at doing that,
aren't, and they certainly did.Five twenty six is our time here in

Here's Sheriff Fryer. Good morning everyone, five thirty one on news Radio seven
forty KTRH. Our top story thishour. Another violent weekend in and around

(21:33):
Houston. We hear like a whatit sounds like a ouzy a car passed
by and like pir that man withour TV partner Channel two. One person
killed, another injured. It wasa graduation party in southeast Houston. At
least seven shootings across the Houston areathis weekend. Four people killed, another
four were wounded. A man whothreatened to kill himself is in stable condition

(21:56):
this morning. He was shot bya deputy in Northwest Terrace County after he
moved and pointed a rifle at thatdeputy. The deputy not hurt. Violent
crime raging on in HPD is stillat least twelve hundred officers short and relying
now on license plate scanning cameras tohelp fight the bad guys. But sharp

(22:17):
more technology does not mean more safety. These cameras, though they're a force
multiplier, they do not take awayfrom our need for manpower. We need
more boost on the ground. That'sDoug Griffith, president of the Houston Police
Officers Union. Cameras can help, but violent crime is still a major problem.

(22:37):
It's a good tool, but it'sonly that it's just a tool to
go after violent offenders. But itdoesn't change the fact that we have to
have more manpower on the streets togo after those. Houston currently leads the
nation with over thirty eight hundred platereading cameras. Jeff Biggs News Radio seven
forty kt H it's now five pointthirty three on our board. Of the
executive order Biden put into place lastweek, no effect on the disaster that

(23:02):
was created by him and his guys. Ever since the Boden Order went into
place, there's no slowing down ofpeople crossing the border. In fact,
is just accelerating. The Texas GovernorGreg Abbott. He was on Fox's Sunday
Morning Futures Washington Examiner reporting border patrolagents in southern California had been instructed to
go ahead and admit illegal aliens ratherthan place them into deep ortation proceedings,

(23:26):
a move against the so called limitedband that is now underway on asylum seekers,
the border and a shocking crime inthe Houston area were a big focus
of Donald Trump's campaign rally in LasVegas yesterday. Hey, last year,
a father from Pasadena, Texas camehome from work to find that his eleven

(23:48):
year old daughter was strangled to death. Charged with the murder was an illegal
alien monster who had just infiltrated ourborder. Released by Crooked Joe Biden,
Trump reference saying the murder of MariaGonzales by an illegal alien. More than
twenty thousand supporters at the rally yesterdayin Las Vegas. We're gonna hear more
from Trump at six am. Andthere's this hurricane season just ten days old

(24:11):
now in FEMA, after bank rollingtaking care of the illegal aliens, says
its disaster relief, and it's goingto run out of money for disaster relief
for us by August. We needto voice our concern. We need to
let them know that this is notwhat we want because no one within the

(24:33):
administration is checking on themselves, noone is policing themselves, no one is
holding them accountable for doing what they'redoing. They're not accounting for themselves.
Retired ICE agent Victor ave law.He told Kgerh people need to speak out

The DA claims he has a quotescheduling conflict. He's agreed to cooperate with
the committee quote in the future. The Hunter Biden federal gun trial resuming this

(25:18):
morning in Delaware. Will Hunter testifyfor the defense? Biden may want to
share with a jury his frame ofmind in October twenty eighteen when he allegedly
filled out a federal form to buya gun. He may want to try
and convince jurors that he wasn't usingdrugs during that time, or that he
didn't believe he was an addict.Taking a stand opens him up to cross
examination, a risky prospect that thedefense has to weigh. Madeline Rivera reporting

(25:44):
it is now five thirty six lookingat her money. Well, there's a
new plan. We told you aboutit last week to add some Texas flavor
to Wall Street. A Dallas grouphas filed with the SEC to form the
Texas Stock Exchange, touting a morebusiness friendly approach the New York Stock Exchange
or the NASDAQ. Financial Planner RichardRosso says companies could see this as a
legitimate alternative. You're also battling againstthese mandated boardroom diversity quotas or companies that

(26:11):
list on the Nasdaq. Where TexasStock Exchange is looking at and tried and
true companies and what they're sposed tolook for. You don't have to be
adopting a political value and a stockexchange. So far, the exchange has
secured one hundred twenty million dollars ininvestments from firms like Blackrock and Citadel Securities.
The goal is to launch by nextyear. Corey Jelson News Radio seven
forty KTRH DEEI brought to you bycompanies like Blackrock. Now they want to

(26:40):
move into Texas. We're going toget another temperature check of Joe Biden's economy
this week when the May inflation reportcomes out on Wednesday. The economy added
two hundred and seventy two thousand jobslast month, and the government was growing
about it, but the majority ofthose were government and social work jobs.
But they say it might shut thedoor on interest rate cuts this summer.

(27:02):
New research shows that American workers areless satisfied with their jobs than they were
just a year ago. Inflation continuesto rise, I think people are going
to have become even more unsatisfied. They're unsatisfied with their vacation time because now
their dollars don't stress for them togo on that vacation. They're unhappy with
their bonuses because it's still not goingto cover the increased costs to the food

(28:11):
million dollar Kansas City home that wasn'tfor sale but had pictures still online from
the last time it was on salewas listed for ten thousand, two hundred
dollars. Say what ten two hundreddollars. That can't be real. Nobody
could think it's real. But here'swhat has happened. Enough people bought into

(28:34):
it that this couple has been delugedwith people knocking on their door wanting to
see their home for sale for tenthousand, two hundred dollars. The Zillo
ad said the house was only availableto first time buyers. It said strictly
no realtors, lenders, investors, wholesalers, or lawyers need in choir,
So how would you get people tothink the house was actually for sale?

(28:56):
The claim was at least in theZelo ad, that the cup was wealthy
and they wanted to help out afirst time home buyer and donate money to
charity. So they were going tooffer their home for Sethy didn't need the
money, so they're gonna offer thehome for sale for ten two hundred dollars.
Oh, and I said one morething. Buyers were told to call

But for some reason, the Chasebuildings windows were fine, and I think
the Shell buildings windows were fine too. And you know what she talked to

to be hanging around for the nextcouple of days, and that's why we're

Victor Vila joins his former ICE specialagent. Evidently FIMA has been spending its
money on the illegal aliens. Whathave they have been spending the money on,
Victor, Well, the number onearea where your money's going via FEMA

(34:57):
is the NDOS, the non governmentalorganization down at the border on both sides
of the border. By the way, that facilitate the entry of millions and
millions of people, that's by puttingthem on buses, airplanes, housing,
healthcare, schooling, you name it, and it's FEMA, it's the State

(35:20):
Department, it's the UN it's otheragencies like USID where they funnel this money,
our taxpayer money for people everyone otherthan US citizens. Well, that
just sort of leaves us on moreless than the short end of the stick,
doesn't it. I mean, whathappens when all of a sudden disaster

(35:43):
strikes American taxpayers. Well, that'sthe number one question, is that people
are fed up that were being putless and the money is supposed to be
there for exactly that reasons for thesenatural disasters and these reserves when we need
it. And the Biden administration doesn'tcare about that. But I'll tell you

(36:05):
who does care. The American people. They're waking up. They understand what's
going on, and they realize thatwait a minute for a second. Here,
they're like in Houston and Chicago andDenver and all these big cities and
even small towns in the city asa matter of fact, around the country,
they're realizing that, hey, waita minute, what's going on here.
We're hard working Americans where taxpayers werelaw abiding, and yet we're not

(36:29):
getting the services and benefits, especiallywhen natural disasters happen in our areas.
Yet if you come here from anothercountry, which I think it's over one
hundred and fifty or more countries thatpeople are coming here from, they get
the benefit first, and people havehad enough of it. Let me see

(36:50):
if I can figure out the gameplan here, Victor. So, FEMA
declares the border and emergency at leastfor its own purposes of spending money.
That's how they get away with spendingmoney, because well, it is an
emergency, humanitarian emergency, we haveto spend the money. And then they
go ahead and they spend all themoney. Then they let the American people
know and Congress know, hey,we're going to run out of the money
in August if you don't give usmore money. So you better give us
more money so that if another disaster, course will be able to help Americans.

(37:14):
And then here's the problem is thatthey'll sell it to you as maybe
border security, although I'll sell itto you as some other form to uh
pull you know, pull the heartstringsof the Americans through their representatives to get
that money again, UH funnel backback to to UH to get these programs.

(37:35):
The NGOs wouldn't wouldn't exist, anda lot of them if they weren't
for the government subsidizing them. Everysingle day you see them at the airports.
You'll see the NGO workers escorting theillegals on the airplanes and Houston.
I just saw them in Tucson willPass. So I've seen them myself in
allow of airports as I travel aroundthe country. And it's our money at

(37:58):
work, but not for the purposesays that we want including we know that
the money is there and we wantit to be placed at the place that
we wanted. We wanted it forfor border security. We want it for
border agents. But our government seesit another way, not only for FEMA
to do this, but obviously settingthe money overseas for other borders. The

(38:19):
disasterscape happening. I mean, youknow this collapse of this major road Teiton
Pass in Wyoming that's unbelievable. Isone thing after another. Yeah, we

(40:35):
They say it's un constitutional. That'sa good excuse. Donald Trump challenging
Joe Biden to prove his middle fitness. This was during a rally yesterday for
thousands of people in Las Vegas forTrump. That speech lasted for over an
hour, despite the teleprompter being brokenand the microphone not working for part of
the time. Trump Trump, DawnBiden well he returned from Europe, quickly

the guilty verdict, now still hasa lead over Joe Biden and the polls

still it's not a short list. It's maybe a medium list or a long
list, but I don't think it'sa short list yet. Political analyst Bill

(42:29):
Miller told KGRH the pick more importantthan ever because of how close this election
is expected to be. He believesit's about getting the votes. One of
the eight candidates reported to be OhioSenator JD. Vance. We've had some
conversations with the Trump team, butI've actually not spoke about the vice presidential
thing with the president directly, anduntil I do, I sort of assume

(42:51):
this is a lot of a mediaspeculation. Fox with Advance was on with
Fox's Sunday Morning Futures, Democrat fearmongering over a Trump win and November,
Boy, is it ever ratcheting up? What happens to you if Donald Trump
wins what do you do? What'syour first I mean it sounds nuts,

Does anybody pick a president based onthe VP pick these days? Bill?
You know I think you've met agood point that it was far more important

(51:51):
than some previous elections. I don'tthink any candidate today picks a beat based
on whether they will be a goodpresident or not. Really the only criteria
that I can see that makes anysense unless he's you know, Obama.
He kicked Biden because Biden was Chairmanof Foreign Affairs Committee, and then people
said that he didn't have that experience, that Biden offered that experience. I

(52:15):
think you look for what you don'thave. In the case of Trump,
you're looking at somebody who can helphim win, and I think in that
case, you've got somebody. Ithink gender and color matter. I think
it always matters, really, butI think in this particular election, with
Kamala Harris on the ticket, asa woman and a person of color,

(52:37):
you need you need your gender orcolor are both to help him because it
will be a close election. Youknow, we discuss as all the time
as from the conventional side of things, but Donald Trump is not conventional.
I mean, why why do wewhy do we think that it's up it's
eight How do we know he's notgoing to pull somebody from out of nowhere,

(52:59):
out of the head that we're noteven thinking about. Oh well,
Harry, you're exactly right. Unpredictableis exactly who he is. And you
know, I think he's you know, sometimes crazy like a fox. But
the he could pick someone right outof nowhere, I don't think that.
I think he wants to win sobadly. He wants to presidency back.

(53:22):
We know how bad he wants. He wants about as bad as anything you
could ever hope for. So Ithink he'll be smart about it. I
don't think he'll just be impulsive andI just want to do it because I
just don't see that this year.I see it's calculated, it's smart,
and ultimately he wants to inflict playingon Democrats, and the way he does
that is winning the election. Youknow, Bill, you mentioned some of

(53:45):
the criteria that might be considered forthis vice potential pick, you know,
gender and color. Nobody who's beensupposedly vetted on his short list meets that
criteria, which I think goes toSheriff's point about he's probably got somebody in
mind that we aren't even thinking of, and maybe that's just the way he
wants it. Well, I mean, Rubio qualifies as somebody of color,

(54:06):
and certainly Tim Scott and or Florida, Yeah, Florida and Carolina's if he
I think you've got you've got thewoman, the counresswoman from New York,
who you know is very aggressive andthe whole THEI hearings up there really costs
it. Yeah, you've got You'vegot some people out there that qualify.

(54:30):
But I think Sure's point is theone you always have to keep in the
back of your mind. The guywill do things that you don't expect him
to do or didn't even see coming. But you know that's why they have
to look at this election. It'sno sure thing. It's going to be
close any way you cut it.He's got he's sharing a lot of baggage.

(54:50):
He needs help pick somebody that helpshim win the election. If they
do that, they'll be smart andthey'll probably help themselves. All right,

seem that most US workers are lesssatisfied this year than the previous year and
almost every single aspect of their work. And there's a lot of factors that
contribute to this. Some of thosefactors from Evans include pay lacking behind someone's

I ever did that, it wouldbe over. They say that's the end
of his political career. He's cognitivelyimpaired. Now, no, you know,
I had a second test. Ihate it. I hasted both of

They say it's sun constitutional. That'sa good excuse. He should have

second demotion Corey Mills. Representative CoreyMills and Representative Ronnie Jackson, they are
both over in Normandy for the celebrationthere and saw President Biden on stage.

(01:12:14):
Here's what they had to say.I think that you and the American people
saw the same thing as all ofour allies and those present. He didn't
seem that he had everything together upstairs. He seemed like he was lost,
he was disoriented, he seemed tohave cognitive function issues, and not to
mention that he left World War Twoveterans on the stage for almost an hour
because he was late to the actualmemorial speech to begin with. So I

(01:12:38):
don't feel that we are bringing ourbest when it comes to how our allies
ce is and how we're viewed onthe world stage. Commas. I can
see Ronnie Jackson is with you therein Normandy right now. Conason Jackson,
you were the White House doctor. You saw what's going on with the president
in Normandy. Do you think heshould take an acuity test, a Montreal

test? Absolutely? Absolutely too.I mean, you know that's the standard
now as far as I'm concerned. The pressent has been set. You know,
we did one for President Trump duringhis presidency and he got a thirty
out of thirty on it. Andyou know, I think that there should
be the same level of outcry fromfrom the media and from those that were
demanding a test on a President Trump'sbehalf for President Biden. I mean,
for kinda allowed, we have somebodythat obviously has some cognitive issues right now,

(01:13:23):
you know, and this recent articlethat came out, proves that it's
not just what we see on aday to day basis from our camera,
but it's behind the scenes as well. It's a scary situation, it's a
national security issue, and it needsto be taken seriously. Well except just
not being taken seriously. It neverwill be. And yet, in spite

(01:29:35):
Former candidate for Harris County Judge. How bad do you see the problem being,
Alexandra, Well, thanks for havingme on, and I think the
problems are very alarming. It's verydisappointing when you think about the once in
a generational opportunity we had to reallyright size the county, and instead of

(01:29:56):
using this multi billion dollar opportunity torestore infrastructure, restore criminal justice system,
they've spent all this money really kindof pushed it down the drain to a
bunch of politically connected nonprofits with littleto show for it. Yes, they
send a lot of programs. I'mthinking about the Basic income program, twenty

(01:30:18):
million dollars of federal money. Theproblem is when the federal money runs out,
the taxpayers are left holding the bagfor the administrators, the administration,
the bureaucracy, and the people whohave, on good faith tried to get
this money for themselves. No verywell said share. The largest kind of

(01:30:38):
chunk of funding went to jobs andeducation started, both things that are well
outside of the scope. So wespent two hundred million on that. And
what isn't universal basic income? Preschool, jobs training. If we're spending two
hundred million, you should expect somestaggering numbers, but instead we have a
jail that can't pass inspection. Wespent fi steam million a year just trying

(01:31:00):
to send them out of state.County recently voted to at least do some
repairs, but everybody knows we needa new jail, We should be running
night court, we need more lawenforcement in those things that the county is
constitutionally mandated. They have starved thelast few years, and so we just
have this massive bloat and it reallybecomes kind of the rallying call for why

(01:31:23):
we need all the listeners to goout and vote in these he catalections,
because for the last ten years, the county has actually run surpluses and we're
running deficits. And one of thebig reasons is they're so backlogged with property
appraisal appeals they're starting to settle them. And so it's why you're seeing this
big effort to try to take controlof that board back, because it's going

(01:31:44):
to be more pain for property taxowners as you have type of partisans backed
by the labor unions, all ofRodney Ellis's kind of foot soldiers that don't
want to see citizens have fair propertytax appeals, because that's really one of
the only ways that they're going tobe able to plug this budget is if
they can jacking up your appraisals. Is there an understanding anywhere in Harris County
government that you know, there arecertain core things that the city in a

(01:32:10):
county is supposed to do for thepeople, the taxpayers who live there,
public education, the infrastructure that youmentioned, police and fire, of the
public safety issues. Everything outside ofthat is a luxury, is it not
him? Nona? You know, very grateful. We do have our one
conservative, you know, Commissioner Ramsay, who abstutely says deferred maintenance as a

(01:32:30):
crime. And when you're staring atthis county that had to take up a
bunch of road bonds just to youknow, do basic road maintenance, and
then you know, took out allthose bonds for flood control. And as
we've seen the areas that flood themost that all also have happen to be
conservatives. They haven't seen any ofthis funding. So a very challenging situation,

(01:32:55):
very easily solvable, But to yourpoint, you have to acknowledge what
are the core functions government, andright now they've really seen this as an
opportunity to transform the county, tomake it the kind of hyper progressive patronage
system that's really benefiting a lot ofpolitically connected nonprofits. Patronage is a key
word there, because it's not takingcare of infrastructure. It's social programs going

(01:33:18):
to the people who administer the socialprograms, which happen to be the buddies.
Right. No, absolutely, mostof these programs was really sad.
Is if you look at how theykind of break out. The spending at
least thirty percent is all the overhead. You think about it, every time
you used to start a new program, you have to bring in the politically
connected consultants. Then all the administrationwhere you know, as far as dollars

(01:33:41):
is even going to an end user, maintaining your storing is going to help
more people. And one of thetests I think of county government is you
know, how quickly can you helpas many people? And all of these
programs they're doing extremely small numbers, you know, maybe six thousand, a
couple thousand, but you're spending tentwenty million for those groups. Yeah,

(01:34:01):
or its is something as simple ashiring more law enforcement for getting through the
backlock you know, held hundreds ofthousands of people. It's not about helping
the taxpayers, It's about helping themselves. It feels like, at least to
those of us who are taxpayers.Alexandra, good hear from you. Thanks
for your time. Sure to appreciateit that it's Metro board member Alexandra Mieler.

(01:42:54):
to any business headquartered in any othercountry that provides products and or services in
the European Union. So that meansthat if you're a United States company selling

Under the law, businesses will beforced to adopt left wing environmental and social

of where the companies in the supplychain are located, which means countless businesses

at the end of the day,Americans don't want these electric vehicles forced
upon them. They like their traditional, reliable, internal combustion engines. And
if the fruits and nuts in Californiawant to enforce these kind of mandates,
then go ahead. By all means, states are laboratories of democracy. Everyone
gets to do what they want intheir respective states. And that's why people

(01:50:14):
are leaving California because they don't wantmandates like this. They're sick of the
high taxes, the regulations, etc. There's a reason why everyone's leaving California,
and that's a good reason not toduplicate Californian policies. Well, that's
certainly one of the tenth Amendment thathas to begin with. So that STACE

they need to decide on their ownwhat are the best policies. As a

(01:50:56):
In California has some real challenges ontheir hand, electrical grid being not
one of the least of their problems. They got over there. So evs
are fine. It ought to beleft up to the market for people to
decide whether they want to drive electriccars or not. Here's the bigger challenge.
We don't have the infrastructure for electriccars across the country. I think

(01:51:17):
the idea of electric cars are fine, but if you don't have the way
to fuel them efficiently, and wedon't across the country, I think there
is some abusinally small amount of thesecharging stations across the country. So the
idea that we're going to be inundatedwith electric cars all of a sudden,
like the Biden registration would like coursue, it's not going to happen. Yeah,
