Speaker 5 (02:05):
They're already thirty three flight cancelations at Bush in fifteen
at Hobby and as if the flight cuts aren't bad enough,
your TSA whiteweight time could be an hour at the
big airport, thirty minutes at Hobby and you can blame
the Schumer shutdown. Now, some have floated the idea of
using tech to solve the air traffic control staffing issues.
AI specifically former airline pilot Patrick Arns And says that's
(02:29):
a bad idea. So there's no way to avoid the pain.
If you're traveling over the next few days.
Speaker 7 (02:34):
We're going to see some reduction and available flights. I

The Senate is going to try a slightly altered spending
bill to get the government back up. Been running through January.
It'll take place today, According to one report, there's been
some movement in negotiation. Another report, though, says Democrats continue
to draw their line in the sand. To make it worse,
(03:12):
a lot of federal workers have not been paid during
the shutdown. Congress, though, well, they haven't missed a paycheck now.
Speaker 8 (03:20):
Republican Senator John Kennedy is proposing legislation to change that.
Speaker 9 (03:24):
The first bill would provide that as long as we're
shut down, no member of Congress can be paid.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
The money will not be reimbursed.
Speaker 8 (03:32):
Political consultant Luke Massia says this move forces Democrats to
put their money where their mouths are.
Speaker 10 (03:37):
As long as their bit of government is fine, they'll
shut down the rest of the government in order to

had an unexpected outcome here in the Houston area. Conservatives
lost their majority on the scythe Fair ISD School Board,
and the big question now is what happened?
Speaker 13 (05:02):
Well, I don't think that having two Conservatives in the
same position is ever a winning strategy. The Conservatives definitely
split the vote.
Speaker 14 (05:11):
That is Denise Bell, Chapter chair for Moms for Liberty

Speaker 13 (05:16):
Conservatives feel like that at the federal level, things are

Perhaps at the local level, that is absolutely not true.

Speaker 5 (05:48):
Turning Point USA has seen their numbers grow in the
wake of Charlie Kirk's assassination. Jillson says that's going to

Speaking of Turning Point USA, Erica Kirk was honored at
the Fox Nation Patriot Awards last night.
Speaker 16 (06:05):
He would say, you're missing the point. You're missing the point.
It's not how I'm saying it that's upsetting people. It's
the fact that I'm saying the truth.
Speaker 5 (06:21):
First, upsetting people first. Lady Milania Trump was named Patriot

are up seventy percent from last year. A and m's
David Anderson says there's a simple explanation.
Speaker 17 (06:37):
One reason we produce less turkey is because of Avian influenza.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
I've waited some time. You're in Houston's boring news. Yeah.
Purgatory is something in the Catholic religion. You know, it's
not it's not Heaven, it's not Hell. It it's somewhere
in between. You know, you haven't gone to Hell yet.
You haven't worked your way to heaven. Yet you're stuck
at burgatory. Inevidently there's something called customs purgatory. You haven't
(07:43):
been delivered to whoever's supposed to get the package. The
package has left where the country of origin. It has
worked its way to US customs, but it hasn't worked
its way to you. It's just sort of sitting there
right now. And that's called called customs purgatory. Frustrated UPS
(08:04):
customers speaking out about missing packages. Thousands of US bound
shippins are stuck in hubs around the country. Oh yeah,
we got a little thing called the government shutdown. The
new customs requirements has been a little tough for the
world's largest courier, At least according to NBC News, UPS
has been forced to start disposing of some of the shipments.
(08:26):
The news outlets spoke to more than two dozen people
waiting for the UPS packages, which include items like t telescopes,
luxury glassware, musical instruments, books, a pillow, and a backpack.
Some described weeks of receiving conflicting tracking information that said
the packages were on their way or had been destroyed. Destroyed.
(08:50):
Why would they be destroying packages? I don't quite understand
where we're going with this. Evidently this has happened to
thousands of shipments there. They're stuck in the warehouse, they're
not going anywhere because of the government shut down and
slowed things down so much. After a certain period of time,
evidently some of these packages get destroyed. It seems like
a waste of perfectly good things. In the meantime, What
(09:15):
happens if you're the customer waiting? Are you getting a
refund because you never received it? What is this costing
the businesses who are sending the packages and only have
them stuck somewhere in Customs five ten TI for traffic

We've got summer today, yeah, summer tomorrow, fall on Sunday,
and winter on Monday.
Speaker 5 (10:12):
That pretty much sums it up, you are correct.
Speaker 18 (10:15):
Yeah, it's pretty dramatic the drop in temperature that we're
going to see between Saturday and then Sunday, and even
more so Monday for sure. So here's the upside to
all of this. While we could use some rain, we
really don't have any rain. As this front swings through
so fog this morning like we kind of had yesterday,
(10:37):
then the sunshine shows up and the temperatures heat up.
Will be in the mid to upper eighties today and tomorrow.
That front swings through Saturday night. I'm gonna check and
see if we're going to see much rain, but I
don't see any rain with that right now. But Sunday
is the beginning of the cool down with temperatures upper
sixties to low seventies, and then Monday is the chili
(11:00):
like really chilly upper fifties to lost sixties for highs
and we have sunshine on Monday. That's a good thing.
We'll start to recover though, warmed back up by Tuesday.
It looks like temperatures Tuesdays should make it up into

So I keep seeing all these stories about the Vegas
Strip is dying, that nobody's going there. Tourist aren't going there.
It's just gotten too expensive. Now I haven't been to
Vegas in several years, so I have no idea how
expensive it's getting. But I'm beginning to find out. I've
got a report to share with you. Even the news
media in Las Vegas can't believe how much it costs
to get a simple burger and fries on the Vegas Strip.

By the way, only is there any other airport, certainly
not in the United States, But is there any other
airport in the world where you can play the slots
at the airport? That always struck me as strange. It
(13:48):
used to be a time where Vegas used to be
you know, the hotels were reasonably priced, the food was cheap.
I mean, they just wanted to keep you there and
keep you gambling. But that's not the case anymore. Here's
a report from News three in Las Vegas and on
the simple act of trying to buy a burger and
fries of the Vegas Strip.
Speaker 20 (14:07):
We walked from Mandalay Bay to Sahara and back, did
the four plus miles, and then as we got to
the Las Vegas sign, we grilled the Taurus on how
much these burgers costs.
Speaker 6 (14:19):
We're also looking at the price of food. How much
do you think a burger costs at some of these restaurants?
Speaker 5 (14:23):
The burger that's a whole nother.
Speaker 6 (14:26):
Story there, sir, And that story starts with the number six.
Sixty dollars paid for two hamburgers. That's what Houston, Texas
resident Jennifer and her daughter forked up to Johnny Rockets
at the ex Caliber.
Speaker 21 (14:36):
Are you are you.
Speaker 6 (14:36):
Paying sixty dollars for two hamburgers in Houston? No, not
at all, Jennifer says, aside from the restaurant being on
the Las Vegas Strip, there was nothing else special about
her or her daughter's order.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
What was on the burger? Was it just a straight
up It's just a.
Speaker 16 (14:49):
Single burger, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayonnaise, whatever, nothing not
like double burger, no bacon, nothing fancy.
Speaker 6 (14:56):
And that started my journey up and down the Las
Vegas Strip to find a cheap burger with fries. What
do you think the cheapest burger is on Las Vegas Strip?
Speaker 5 (15:04):
Probably like fifteen dollars for the burger?
Speaker 13 (15:06):
Where or how much do I think you much maybe
about twenty bucks.
Speaker 6 (15:11):
I started at Mandalay Bay, where we encounter Johnny Rockets.
Now Johnny Rockets has multiple locations, with the menu showing
prices in the twenties. Across the street from Mandalay Bay
is New York, New York, known for being one of
the more affordable options on the strip, but only one
sub twenty dollars burger was inside of Tom's Watch Bar
for nineteen fifty nine.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Fine irishmen.
Speaker 6 (15:30):
Meanwhile, I saw their sizzling patties sit at twenty three
dollars a bi. It goes without saying that the Las
Vegas Strip is the epicenter of where pop culture and
hospitality mix, and that meant we had to go to
Gordon Ramsey.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
Burger at Plan in Hollywood.
Speaker 6 (15:43):
The British chef has collected millions for his various television shows,
and his burger restaurant collects quite a pretty penny too.
Their menu, only available through a QR code, shows their
most basic burger and fries options, with a floor of
twenty six ninety nine. For one of their specialty burgers,
like a Waggi beef pat Hony, the cost is nearly
double at forty nine ninety nine.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Hey, God, Gordon Ramsay wants somewhere between twenty six and
forty six dollars for a hamburger? Does that include the fries?
And I even sure it includes the fries? Twenty six
to forty six bucks. So here's my question of today.
Because we all like hamburgers, right, I don't know anybody
(16:23):
that doesn't like a good hamburger. I love a good hamburger.
I can tell you the most I've ever spent on
a hamburger. It's at three Be's in Spring. They have
what they call the door Stopper. I think I've talked
about this before. It is it. First of all, it's
a one pound burger. Elizabeth and I split this burger
stacked with American and Swiss cheese, grilled mushrooms, bacon, a
(16:47):
fried egg. It's got everything on it plus the kitchen
sick eighteen dollars with fries split between two people, so
it's well nine dollars apiece. So here's I question to you.
What is the most you've ever spent on a burger?
What is your limit? How much are you willing to
spend on a really great burger? In fries? You go
(17:09):
to the iHeartRadio app KTRH. First thing, where you're calling from?
And how much you're willing to spend on a burger?
I bet it's not twenty six bucks five twenty six.
Now time to take a look at your money. Hey,
good morning.
Speaker 22 (17:22):

Hey you, Jimmy five thirty one on KTRH. Good morning everyone.
Our top story. This is a Democrat shutdown.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
There's no question about it.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
Al Serversight Committee Chair James Comer, there is. Republicans offer
an olive branch, which is one way to put it,
and the shutdown now in its thirty eighth day.
Speaker 25 (19:46):
Republicans plan a test vote today with changes in spending
bill details that could sway some Democratic support to reopen
the federal government. A new bill is expected to propose
funding the government into January. Others would provide money to
operate the Department of Agriculture, the Military and Construction, and
the Legislative Branch through the next fiscal year.
Speaker 5 (20:09):
Granald Scott reporting there there are already thirty three cancelations
at Bush, another fifteen at Hobby, as new flight restrictions
are now in effect, as.
Speaker 11 (20:18):
Sean Duffy, and as they're cutting in certain areas ten
percent and they want to make sure one hundred percent save.
That's way they're doing.
Speaker 5 (20:26):
President Trump at the White House yesterday. Remember this is
all due to the staffing issues that we have seen
in air traffic control controllers aren't being paid during the
shutdown and they're not coming to work. We're also still
seeing issues with TSA wait times at Bush and Hobby.
This morning. They're up to an hour at the Big Airport,
a half an hour at Hobby. Five point thirty threes

for threatening to find a Republican candidate for calling himself
doctor on the campaign trail. Reaganzalez went to medical school
before becoming a lawyer and called himself doctor Ray. The
TMB went after him.
Speaker 27 (21:35):
It's just one of those common sense issues where if
a politician says something ridiculous about a title, well that
should just be brought up against them on the campaign trail.
Shouldn't be something that you know they're legally liable for,
especially when it's somewhat justifiably.
Speaker 3 (21:47):

Speaker 5 (21:49):
Travis Morgan a Texas scorecard. The Texas Supreme Court agreed

with multiple departments, including HFDHPD, and Solid Waste, all spending
big bucks on overtime.
Speaker 8 (22:08):
The Solid waste department went as far as to exceed
its overtime budget last year by seventy five percent.
Speaker 17 (22:13):
The reason they're going to throw those overtimes because they
don't have enough people to do the job.

Former City council member Greg Travis says, we need to
start looking to make major changes to these departments.
Speaker 17 (22:25):
Waste management should not be under the city where we
should file that out and privatize it. We've been saying

this country.
Speaker 12 (24:59):
A Trump check in.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
We'll check it out every day on US radio se KTRH.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
All today, we're going to be feeling the paint at
our airports. As Cliff has been telling you. I think
thirty three is the number right now at at Bush
and then fifteen at Hobby that have been canceled. Four
percent right now there are four percent production. It's going
to be up to ten percent come Monday. And there's
gonna be a lot of people who have flights that
are not hubbed to hub, you know, or on a
(25:29):
regional carrier, and that's gonna end up getting canceled, or
at least some of the flights are gonna end up
getting canceled because the cutbacks are and by the way,
Sean Duffy, the Transportation Secretary warning yesterday of airport chaos
for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Course, I've been talking about that
for weeks. If this thing continues, and with the election
(25:51):
over and done with, and with Democrats having, you know,
one pretty soundly, I thought maybe that would be it.
But no, that's not it. They have been emboldened by
their wins. And here's what Democrats do so much better
than Republicans. And I'm so sick and tired of this
is they just they they they coal less around each other,
(26:13):
and they stick to the guns. They've decided there's no
way we're letting this go. People are blaming Republicans for
what's going on here. And the reason why they blame
Republicans is we just have too many people who are
who are dependent on the federal government, which is exactly
what the federal government, who at least the Democrat version
of that, exactly what they want. They want people dependent
(26:33):
on them. You got to vote for us, because you
know we're paying you, We're giving you welfare, we're giving
you food stamps. You work for the federal government. You
want to keep working for the federal government. This guy
wants this guy wants to lay you off. This guy
wants to streamline things. Yeah, he wants to take your job.
That's pretty effective with a lot of people who don't
put a whole lot of thoughts into the greater good.
(26:55):
You know, we have a tendency just to look out
for our own self interest. And I get that. I
completely get that. But despite the fact that Democrats are
responsible for this, Republicans are getting more of the blame
than Democrats are. And they're getting nervous. You can tell
they're getting nervous. They're starting to they're starting to blink,
they're starting to talk about negotiations, they're starting to talk
(27:19):
about how they want to Well, maybe we can come
up with something for health care. So I would not
be shocked or surprised if we find because supposedly they're
going to push a deal House Conservatives backing a new
funding deal to end the shutdown, but it would also
would still reject Obamacare's subsidies, but it would put more
(27:41):
money into healthcare. I'm not sure exactly what it is
they're proposing, so I guess we'll have to wait until
we see the details. But these are not proposals coming
from Democrats. The Democrats still want the whole Enchilada, and
if they sense the Republicans are starting to cave on this,
that they'll just make sure they stick with it until
the pain hurts so much that they they get exactly
what they want. And if I'm just warning Republicans, if
(28:03):
you give them exactly what they want, then those of
us who have been willing to support you through all
this are probably gonna have to take another look at
what you're doing, because you back down all the time,
and a lot of us are tired of it. Five
forty time for traffic and weather together, we're checking out
that drive once again.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
But Gary Mack a couple of slowdowns beginning to form.

Speaker 18 (29:03):
You know, I never thought I would be taking fashion
advice from you, but I think those are all good suggestions.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
Because you know what, even though we're only talking like
maybe sixty sixty one degrees for the high temperature on Monday,
you've put some wind with that that feels cold when
you're used to the heat around here, you know.
Speaker 5 (29:19):
Oh yeah, so here's the thing. Let's put it like this.
Speaker 18 (29:22):
There'll be about a thirty degree drop in temperature between
now and Monday, you know, in terms of high temperatures.
I've been looking at the low temperatures too, and they're
gonna be cold.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 18 (29:32):
So I'm liking the beginning part of our weekend frankly,
because it's a whole lot more comfortable to be outside.
Even if it is warmer, the humidity is not crazy
like it usually is in the summertime. Temperatures today and
tomorrow in the mid to upper eighties. That front sneaks
through Saturday night drops our temperatures a little bit on
(29:52):
Sunday upper sixties to low seventies.
Speaker 5 (29:55):
That's just a touch cool for November, no big deal.
Speaker 18 (29:59):
But then Monday sho up and heis Monday in the

Five fifty is our time here in Houston's morning news.
Have you heard that the city of Houston is having
some problems with ambulances. See the problem is that Sylvester
Turner bought a whole bunch of eco friendly ambulances and
they've been nothing but trouble. They cost They cost about
(30:43):
forty thousand dollars more just to buy them, and they're
breaking down all the time for a whole variety of
different reasons. They're unavailable to use. More than that coming
up next, first though, at five fifty, let's do a
little traffic and weather together, starting with you Gary mack
all right, Rach.
Speaker 4 (30:56):

Chicago is a hell all right now, free healthcare, illegal aliens,

Speaker 24 (32:24):
You never know what's going to happen with US Radio
seven KTRH.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
Oh this sounds so eco friendly, doesn't it? And so
are Houston ambulances. But eco friendly doesn't mean reliable. Five
point fifty two on Houston's Born News, there's were port
from our television partner KPRC two on our City of
Houston ambulance problem.
Speaker 31 (32:46):
Mayor John Whitmyer was unaware of the issues until two
investigates came knocking. But it should be noted the ambulances
were purchased under previous Mayor Sylvester Turner, as his administration
pushed for more environmentally friendly ambulances.
Speaker 32 (33:03):
It's been moved in second on eight and nine and
twelve discussion discussion in favor of post granted.
Speaker 31 (33:07):
In October of twenty twenty two, with no opposition, City
Council approved the five point nine million dollar taxpayer funded
purchase of twenty one ambulances through Frasier. The ambulances included
special electrical systems that the city touted would allow HFD
to promote cleaner air for the environment.
Speaker 15 (33:27):
Seconds matter, it's not politics.
Speaker 31 (33:30):
Marty Langton is the president of the Houston Professional Firefighters Association.
He says, aside from the problems listed by a department chief,
he has learned of charging problems.
Speaker 15 (33:41):
We don't have electricity in the back of an ambulance
because we don't have enough time to charge them or
have the right charging ports.
Speaker 31 (33:48):
Here's what hfd's top boss, Chief Thomas Munos, had to
say about what we uncovered.
Speaker 10 (33:54):
It's not electric car, but you have to plug it
and maintain it.
Speaker 33 (33:58):
In layman's term, it's too busy, not enough time to charge.
Speaker 5 (34:03):
We sent the internal HFD emailed to Frasier.
Speaker 31 (34:06):
They told us it is our understanding the unit's reference
to have been serviced and have returned to service. The
spokesperson added, they have always acted with urgency regarding hfd's concerns.
Speaker 5 (34:21):
What about cost? Are they more than traditional ambulances?
Speaker 3 (34:26):
Forty thousand more you heard.
Speaker 31 (34:28):
Right, forty thousand dollars more for ambulance.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
This is taxpayer money.
Speaker 15 (34:33):
And this is why it's important to have people that
are making decisions that know the impact of those decisions,
not just pretending to solve a problem when creating more problems.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
Yeah, that's what government is good at, creating more problems.
That's solving problems. But you know, in fairness, who could
have seen that an ambulance might not have enough time
at a charging station to fully recharge because it's being
used all the time. Who could have possibly known that
that would be a problem, right, certainly, Sylvester Turner could
(35:07):
not have been expected to know that that would be
an issue for goodness sakes. And I'm not sure why
they reached out to the manufacturer. I mean, they know,
they know what's involved in recharging a vehicle. It's not
their problem if you don't have enough time to recharge
it because you're using it all the time. And by
the way, did anybody stop to think of course not.
(35:29):
But did anybody stop to think that, well, you know,
maybe maybe we're going to have an issue here in reliability,
and maybe we should just because it's an ambulance and
usually it's an emergency we're responding to and we're taking
people to hospital. You know, if people have been shot
and things like that, that time might be of the
essence and we really should have something that could respond quickly,
(35:50):
not something we have to charge all the time. Who
could have possibly seen these problems coming five point fifty

then we shouldn't be getting paid either. The FAA flight

Speaker 5 (37:46):
Sponsored by All Star Construction. Our top story at six
p' oho one. It's about to go from bad to
worse at Bush and Hobby Airports because of the Democrat
and Schumer shutdown.
Speaker 33 (37:56):
Today, the FAA is beginning at ten percent reduction in
flights at major airports in order to relieve stress on
air traffic controllers who are overworked and not getting paid.
Former airline pilot Patrick arns And says this is a
difficult but necessary move.
Speaker 7 (38:09):
I want the folks that are working the flights that
I'm on to be well rested, to be well compensated,
and to be in a good mental place so they
can function at.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
A very high level.
Speaker 7 (38:17):
And we've got this perfect recipe right now where we
see that degrading. Can I give the SAA credit for
kind of getting out in front of this problem.
Speaker 33 (38:25):
Airlines say you will be notified if your flight is
canceled and rebooked on another flight or offered a refund. Coreyolson,
who's radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 5 (38:32):
By the way, we have thirty three cancelations at Bush,
another fifteen at Hobby. Nationally, there are more than eight
hundred canceled flights so far today. And if cancelations aren't
enough of a headache for you, your TSA waite time could
be about an hour at the big airport, thirty plus
minutes at Hobby, all again thanks to the shutdown. Now
the Senate will try a somewhat altered bill to reopen
(38:54):
the government today through January.
Speaker 9 (38:57):
Most members of Senate are running around like Mike Ants
on a sugar bowl, like a bunch of handless chickens.
But we're, in my opinion, we're nowhere near getting out
of the shut down.
Speaker 5 (39:10):
Louisiana Senator John Kennedy on Fox One report says there's
been some movement by Dems, but another report says they're
not willing to compromise. By the way, Kennedy is also
moving to deny members of Congress their paychecks until the
Democrats open the government back up.
Speaker 10 (39:26):
If Democrats lost their paychecks the day the government shut down,
you would not be in this shut down today. I
think this is a structural reform to change to make
sure that things like this never happened again.
Speaker 5 (39:38):
Political consultant Luke Massia says Republicans should force Democrats to
put their money where their mouths are and bring this
bill to the floor for a vote. Federal judges ordered
the Trump administration to fully fund SNAP benefits for November
by today. Vice President JD. Vance called the ruling quote absurd.
Speaker 34 (39:57):
What we'd like to do is for the Democrats to
open up the government. Of course, then we can fund SNAP,
and we can also do a lot of other good
things for the American people.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
But in the midst of.

Twenty three now Here in houston's morning news right we
have we have a, guest here former airline PILOT And Ceo.
Thrust flight his Name Is. Patrick, arnsen thanks welcome to. The,
show patrick thanks for joining, Us today thanks for. Having
me want to get a couple of quick thoughts on
the what's going on with air traffic control right now
In The. Transportation department reducing flights by. Ten percent ten
(51:31):
percent probably doesn't sound like a lot to a lot.
Of people but how many flights? Per day do you
think that that turns out to be? Ten, PERCENT well
i don't think it's it's ten percent to every.
Speaker 7 (51:40):
SINGLE airport i think what's happening is they're limiting the
flights to the busiest airports in. The, country so, YOU
know i think when we, you know when we think about,
ten percent we need to think about, you know where are.
We going, you know the folks that are Headed To
new YORK and la and some of the more densely
populated AREAS are i think are going to really suffer a,
(52:01):
lot more whereas some, of us, you know traveling to
some of these, smaller airports may not notice quite as
much with with. Reduced schedules were, you ever when you're
during your, pilot career did you ever work during a
air traffic controllers strike or a?
Speaker 3 (52:16):
Government?
Speaker 7 (52:16):
Shutdown never never an air traffic controllers. To strike the
as far as the. Government SHUTDOWN if, i did it
wasn't meaningful enough for me to to. Remember it but
we're certainly, noticing it, you know even even with, you
know our relatively, small operation, you know as compared to,
(52:37):
the airlines we're even feeling the effects of this.
Speaker 3 (52:39):
Right, now yeah and likely to get a whole lot.
Of boards can you imagine what it would be Like
for thanksgiving And for christmas if the government.
Speaker 7 (52:45):
SHUTDOWN continues, i mean just the. ONLY thing i the
words that come to mind are just. Unmitigated MESS and i,
think that's, you know that's what it's going to. Look
LIKE so i really hope we can get the government
opened up by. By then there's a couple of story
that we've seen about. The possibilities SEEMS like ai can
be adapted for a whole variety of. Different things it's
(53:05):
hard to IMAGINE that ai could be adapted for use
in replacing air. Traffic controllers is there a ROLE for
ai when it comes to figuring out flights and and
paths and and ground and all the other things that
go into an airline and in an airport? As well
if anybody is seeing terminator that the term skynet comes
(53:27):
to mind. For, me, so look there are so many
subtleties that go along into being an air. Traffic controller
there's so many things that that these air traffic controllers
do to keep keep, people safe just down to noticing
the tone of a pilot or handing an emergency situation
like like in. MOST scenarios I think ai could, certainly augment,
(53:50):
you know ultimately after you know a lot of testing
and things, like that the air. Traffic CONTROLLERS but, i think,
you know at the end of, the day the decision
needs to be made by human because there is such
a human component to what these folks do every single
day THAT that i would be very hesitant to, you
know to fly an airplane with, YOU know ai.
Speaker 3 (54:13):
Guiding me how much of a difference would it make
just getting air traffic control up to. Technological speed they
are what twenty maybe thirty years behind the times when
it comes to the equipment.
Speaker 7 (54:24):
They use THEY are i mean IF you i, was
recently you know at the up in the control tower
where one of our, operations is and you look at the,
you know the technology that these, folks have and it
reminds me OF what i HAD when i was in.
Speaker 3 (54:38):
High SCHOOL so i think.
Speaker 7 (54:40):
That would make a, huge difference, you know getting the
the technology that these that these. Folks need, you know
we've got a we have a fight school Up In,
north texas and that that airport doesn't have a does
not have a tower or not a tower but a,
radar rather so they are literally relying on looking out
(55:01):
the window to try and keep, air traffic, you, know
separated along with, you know pilots making.
Speaker 3 (55:06):
Position, reports yeah, there's.
Speaker 7 (55:07):
Technology cheap technology right now, that exists but because it's,
not certified they can't. Use it so there's a lot,
of things, you know in, my opinion that are standing
the way of making the. System Safer and i'm not
saying that it's, not safe but it could certainly be made.
Speaker 3 (55:23):
More, SAFE well i guess the good news is that
it seems that we finally have a transportation secretary and
a government that's willing to do something about at. High,
time patrick, thank you appreciate you joining. Us Today, patrick

because that sounds like a, typical MAN but i try
to avoid going to the doctor at. All costs you
got you gotta get me down and? Really sick do
you get me to? The doctor but you KNOW what
i found for, one thing YOU know I do i
(01:03:01):
do this. Radio program you know there's only a couple of,
people around so it's Not like i've got a bunch of,
you know co workers in. The building i'm here early in.

here is If, in marco who runs our program. Is

(01:03:21):
aren't sick or if they, are sick you stay away.
From them you can usually avoid. Getting sick. YOU know
i don't go to a lot of, you know. Public places,
you know maybe maybe to the, grocery, store, supermarket whatever
in restaurants every now. AND again i guess there's A
place i can. Get sick but THE thing i FOUND
is I have i started TAKING, DURING covid i started
taking a lot. Of VITAMINS so i take a lot,
(01:03:43):
of VITAMINS and i think that's really helped as far
as keeping away colds. And sickness knock. On wood, but
healthcare and the other thing about healthcare is is just.
Ridiculously expensive and one of the reasons that we really
have to post What the democrats are trying to do
with healthcare With these, obamacare subsidies is that just keeps the.
(01:04:06):
Prices high that giving subsidies so that you. Could afford
obamacare doesn't do anything to drive down the high cost of.
Health CARE and i think That's what Senator to rampaul
is trying. To say he's actually come up with. An
idea they wouldn't cost government anything, to do but could
really change the price of. Health care Here Is senator
rampaul with.
Speaker 44 (01:04:27):

from amazon, guess what you have the leverage bigger than
any Corporation in america to drive your. Premiums down if
anybody gets sick in your, small business it's no longer
me a physician and. Four employees and if someone, gets
cancer all of a sudden a.
Speaker 11 (01:05:00):

Pool to cover.
Speaker 44 (01:05:08):
The risk this is something that our fingertips and it
also involves the concept of consumers collectively.
Speaker 5 (01:05:15):
Bargaining like a co op or. A collective i don't
know why we can't agree to.
Speaker 44 (01:05:20):
That immediately it costs nothing and it would drive.
Speaker 3 (01:05:23):
Prices down and, you know they've been talking about doing this,
for years about opening up health insurance markets or insurance markets.
In general there's so many rules and regulations. About insurance
if they could thin those out and go with that
kind of an idea that that might. Actually help then
we'd have, to tackle, of course the high cost, of
drugs and well the president's trying to do that with
(01:05:45):
his Trump bar. X program but there's a lot of
things to go on the high cost, of healthcare but
that there's certainly health insurance that would certainly help. With

Speaker 7 (01:27:06):
Well I'm, in texas so, You know i'm always having Fun,
in TEXAS but i should BE in dc if we
were getting our. Job Done but democrats are. Blocking us
so we'll see what.
Speaker 3 (01:27:14):
Happens, today yeah tell me what you know about the
Proposal that Senator thun is. Put TOGETHER.
Speaker 7 (01:27:21):
So i believe what the leader is going to do
is take the bill that we Passed in September The,
house republicans which funded the Government till, november twentieth which
at that time was, you know two months On to,
thanksgiving basically and you're going to take that bill extend
that date into At, least january AND then i think
they might combine it with the three appropriations bills that
we passed and That the senate's, worked THROUGH which i
(01:27:44):
think funds it at the same levels, or less so
it would be doing our job keeping spending relatively flat
while we try to grow, the economy keeping basically a
good set of priorities that we worked through both chambers
in the three bills and then A cr it's very
common sense and not. Very, controversial frankly for a conservative
like me who wants to see greater reductions, in spending
(01:28:06):
it's middle of, the, Road RIGHT like i would reduce
spending more a lot of my conservative. Colleagues would but
we're willing to work together to figure it out and hold,
spending Flat and democrats. Are blocking as we're Told That,
chuck Schumer the democrats plan to block that, effort today
demanding that we go back and undo some of the, you,
(01:28:26):
know riffs some of the reductions and workforce that the
administration carried out in order to deal with the prioritization
of the spending When the democrats chose to. Shut down
so that's what's going to be on the. Table today
we'll see, what happens but we expect them to block
it and continue to shut down through, the weekend which
course is interfering. With, travel obviously the Airport at Houston
(01:28:48):
at bush was, a disaster and we're trying to figure
out how to work through all.
Speaker 3 (01:28:53):
Of that What the democrats, BLOCKING is i think they feel,
pretty emboldened. DON'T you i don't know that we can
blame the election Results on republicans getting the majority blame
for the, government shutdown which is, Completely, unfair buddy appears
fear's especially in State, like virginia which has so many
federal workers and then so many other people who are
dependent on federal benefits that they just they just want.
(01:29:14):
Their MONEY and i think that showed up in the Vote,
in virginia.
Speaker 7 (01:29:17):
Don't, You, WELL look i don't know how to handicap the.
Results there there are a lot. Of FACTORS what i
know Is is virginia is a state that. Is trending if
it's not. Blue, Entirely Now new jersey's Blue And new
york is. Notoriously blue so none of those are. That
surprising but what we're now looking at is with, You
(01:29:39):
know i'm taking in all the information of the impacts of,
The shutdown like even as, We speak charles Paint on
Foxes On fox news talking about a two point seven
BILLION dollar i think impact just in. A day i
think of the of the shutdown in terms, of travel
you go through, it all and what's the reason for.
The Shutdown it's democrats pool. Political priorities they're trying to
(01:30:02):
pick fights to set the stage for twenty. Twenty six to,
your point they feel, in bolten so they're trying to
use it as a, political tool a. POLITICAL weapon i think.
THAT'S cynical, i mean, and again as someone who's been
a part of shutdown conversations in, the past you've got
a really principal objection how the federal dollars are being
used for open borders or, for EXAMPLE when i Was
(01:30:25):
With senator cruise and the Implementation, of obamacare we knew
that if those funds were used To, implement obamacare we
were going to get just massively increased health care expenses.
And prices guess what's happened over the last. Fifteen years
you can't afford. Healthcare anymore so this is what we've
got to, Work, Through Democrats, steam bolden to, your point
we got to stand up and hold the line and
(01:30:47):
stand up for the Hard working texans that are taking
this the.
Speaker 3 (01:30:51):
Brunt of THIS which i think brings me to my
last question, For You, jiff roy and that is very
Simply this republicans have been known in the past. To
cave you have concerns that they will cave again when
it comes to the government shutdown because the heat is
just getting to be too much for them.
Speaker 11 (01:31:05):
To.
Speaker 7 (01:31:05):
Handle Well the president's teems rightly Frustrated At chuck schumer
and The way democrats have handle this and wanting to hold.
The line and, You know i've been working with. A
speaker everybody seems.
Speaker 3 (01:31:18):
To be on the.
Speaker 7 (01:31:19):
SAME page i believe that will hold. The line but
there's always a block of moderate members Of The republican
conference that want to try to cut, a deal and
they're having. Those conversations and my view is we need
to hold the line and explain To the american people
why all of this continued effort is, driving inflation making,
life unaffordable and it is making life difficult for the people.
(01:31:42):
We represent we should hold the line. For, them look
The reason i'm Running For, attorney general by, the Way
is texas is under assault and we're seeing it right
now With the Islamification, of texas, open borders crime on.
Speaker 3 (01:31:53):
The streets just one of your news.
Speaker 7 (01:31:55):
Interests to this segment was talking about somebody let out
or two others committing a crime and getting out of
jail in. Twelve days it's happening all, the time and
as a, Coordinated effort republicans got to demonstrate that we're
going to we're willing to stand up and fight. Against
THAT so i Hope the president will hold the line
on all respects because this bloated government funding and all,
these programs it's all connected to the, same stuff and
(01:32:18):
we got to stand Up for texas and stand up
for the people who sent us there or. Change it so,
you know we're going to stand With The white house
And the president as he's trying to.
Speaker 3 (01:32:25):

for his. Crazy redissecting no matter how you, slice it
it was bad night FOR. The gop why what was the?
Speaker 37 (01:46:44):
Big, FACTOR look i think there are two big Realities
that republicans have. To solve the first is That the
democrats did a brilliant job of sticking to a message
and a message which grew out Of the, american PEOPLE
which i want to come. Back to and then the
Second is republicans have to find a way to Motivate
(01:47:09):
the trump based voter to come out and Vote if
trump's not on, THE ballot, i mean IT doesn't I
Think president trump was right in saying that the fact
that he wasn't on the ballot was a, major.
Speaker 3 (01:47:19):
Factor but that doesn't.
Speaker 37 (01:47:20):
Solve anything he's not going to be on the ballot
in twenty six and they had better find a way
to get people to decide. To VOTE but i want
to go back to this affordability ISSUE because i THINK
probably i disagree with you a, Little. BIT larry i
think you have a reality, problem here not a. MESSAGING
problem i think when you have a twenty percent increase
in the price of Electricity In, new jersey when the
(01:47:43):
average family health insurance plan is now twenty seven thousand dollars,
a year basically the equivalent of buying a small car.
EVERY year i think when, housing costs a lot of
them caused by big, government socialism but when housing costs
rise to a point where young people can't buy, a
house you have a real sense From the. American People
(01:48:06):
and i've always opposed efforts to Tell the american people
that they're stupid about what. They feel the job of
the politician is to listen and learn and then try to,
help people and then they get. To lead And the
american people have been saying very clearly for about five
years now that they're unhappy with, the economy that they can't,
afford things and that they're very worried about what's going.
Speaker 3 (01:48:30):
To happen and evidently they still are. Worried Again president
trump hasn't even been in office, a YEAR but i.
GET it i guess, all, Right listen you'll have a,
great day have a. Great weekend i'll See you, monday
morning bright, and early. Five am hope to see you
