traffic from AM Live radio and not those little apps
and all that business on the internet. Katie Freeway. They're
showing that closure is still there from the Beltway to Willcrest.
That was big and nasty, and it was all weekend
and looking here double checking their camera three two six
Kirkwood Willcrest three twenty five. There we go belt Wait nothing,

News Radio seven forty KTRH. It's time out for the news.

(01:48):
Glyiff is off today and for him, here's Eric Sharp.

Speaker 7 (01:50):
Good morning five oh one on news radio seven forty
k TRH. Our top story this hour, President Trump lasting
Russian President Vladimir Putin, questioning if the Russian really wants
peace or is just leading him on as following his
appearance at the Francis funeral this weekend and his sit
down discussion with Ukrainian President Zelenski and Vankin City.

Speaker 8 (02:11):
The initial assessment from both sides of the roughly fifteen
minute meeting is that the conversations were positive. Ukrainian President
Vladimir's Lenzi seeing in part, hoping for results on everything
we covered, protecting lives of our people, full of unconditional
cease fire, reliable and lasting piece that will prevent another
war from breaking out. Very symbolic meeting that has potential

(02:33):
to become historic if we achieve joint results. He goes
on to thank the president a shift in tone after
their argument at the Oval Office in February.

Speaker 7 (02:41):
And that was Fox's Madeline Rivera reporting. As President Trump
tries to restore American manufacturing, some say he might want
to focus on medical manufacturing, which is ninety percent dependent
on China. It's already proven to be a major national
security concern. According to Gordon Chang, in.

Speaker 9 (03:00):
March of twenty twenty, Chinese propaganda threatened to throw the
US into a mighty sea of coronavirus. China did prohibit
the exports of personal protective equipment to the US.

Speaker 7 (03:12):
Chang adds that everything from ppe to pharmaceutical ingredients, medical equipment,
and drugs come out of China. The White House correspondence
dinner looked very different Saturday night, with no Donald Trump,
no comedians, and little to celebrate. Association President your Jene
Daniels open the evening by pointing out the President's absence
and saying that it's been a difficult year for the press.

(03:33):
The President skipped the dinner, again, refusing to lend credibility
to an event that many conservatives saying has become a
liberal at co Chamber. Another new poll found the Senate
Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's approval ratings are sinking while AOC
continues to rise.

Speaker 10 (03:49):
Political commentator Debbie Georgiadis says it's all part of the
less tds.

Speaker 11 (03:55):
And have built up animosity toward President Trump, and they're
looking for someone within the Democrat Party to fight him.

Speaker 10 (04:02):
Right now, it's AOC, but that doesn't mean they'll support
her policy.

Speaker 11 (04:07):
I could just quote Senator Kennedy from Louisiana, which he's
been calling for operation let her speak because she makes
so little sense.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Good, let her get.

Speaker 10 (04:15):
Out there right now. It's all they've got. Jeff Biggs,
News Radio seven forty k tiery.

Speaker 7 (04:21):
As the Democrats are trying to battle Donald Trump. The
bigger battle might actually be with themselves. New data shows
only four and ten Democratic voters support current party leaders.
It's half of what it was a year ago. Rich's
political science professor Robert Stein believes it's going beyond politics now.

Speaker 6 (04:39):
I think this is a bigger problem.

Speaker 12 (04:40):
American voters are not happy with the institutions that run
their country. And it doesn't stop in Washington. They goes
all the way down to the state capitals. They go
down to the local school districts. That's the problem.

Speaker 7 (04:51):
Just thirty nine percent of Democrats trust their leaders on
the economy, the lowest number in the history of the Gallipole.
Democrats trying to battle Donald Trump and the Trump team
now asking for quicker deportations and longer detentions.

Speaker 13 (05:08):
President Trump's borders. Are is wanting Congress to change certain
immigration law.

Speaker 14 (05:13):
They are elected by the people to represent the taxpayers
in this country. When you don't care about your constituocy,
when you don't care about public safety and national security,
you're an embarrassment to the position you hold.

Speaker 13 (05:23):
Tom Holman with a straightforward message to those on Capitol Hill.

Speaker 14 (05:27):
Now I'm message to Congress, give us the funding to
continue this.

Speaker 13 (05:31):
Homan believes there are still around twenty million people in
the country illegally. Jared Lewis News Radio seven forty KRH the.

Speaker 7 (05:38):
Democrats have relied heavily on a fundraising platform called Act
Blue for both campaigns and different political causes. Now Trump
ordering the DOJ to begin investigating the platform.

Speaker 15 (05:50):
There's long been real suspicion about how Act Blues structured,
that it allows for people to extraw donations and it
perhaps even allows for money. I don't know that that's
really been prove than Souley, but that's what the investigation
is going to seek to discover.

Speaker 7 (06:05):
That's GOP consultant m mccoyak. He says that Act Blue
has been to use advantage for Democrats and if it
is shut down, it's going to be a huge loss
for them as well. The Astros ay avoid the sweep
with a seven to three wed over the Kansas City
Royals at Kaufman Stadium on Sunday or Don Alvarez at

(06:26):
that three run bomb in the top of the third inning,
the Astros led the rest of the way. Houston will
host the Detroit Tigers at dyk In Park tonight. Live
coverage on Sports Talk seven ninety begins at six pm.
The Rockets looking to even up their first round playoff
series tonight after coming off a one oh four to
ninety three loss to the Golden State Warriors in Game

(06:48):
And you can hear that right here on ktrrange. I'm
Eric Sharp on Houston's News Weather in traffic station News
Radio seven forty ktrrange.

Speaker 4 (06:57):
B informed be on time.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
Houston's Morning News continues.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
With Jimmy Arrett. Five oh seven is our time here
this morning on Houston's Morning News. Nice to be back
with you here today. Had a couple of great days
in Virginia. Meeting up with my two sons, the Barret
Boys weekend kind of thing, long overdue. Good to see him,
Good to be back just as well. One Sun's certain
of the navy, by the way, so he may have notice.
We're gonna get fleet week here. We'll have more on

(07:23):
that coming up in the show. That will be interesting.
A thousand plus sailors in town. That could be fun,
all right, But this story hits me where I live
at the restaurant, which, if you listen to the show
often enough. You know, I spent a lot of time
in restaurants. We just don't do a lot of cooking
at our house. And this story actually makes sense to me,

(07:46):
and that is that there has been a increase in buffets.
People frequenting buffet restaurants like the Golden Corrals of the world,
the Loubies of the world, since prices have taken off,
because they at least perceive in their minds that that

(08:07):
is their best shot at getting their money's worth. In
other words, if I go to the buffet and I
sit down, and I make a couple of two or
three trips up there, then I've actually gotten my money's worth.
The problem, of course, is for people like me and
other people maybe you're one of them who can't quite

(08:27):
put it away the way you used to. That you
go there with the idea, I'm going to get my
money's worth, and you don't. You know, a recent example
in my world is the Eastern buffet that Elizabeth and
I went to, and our idea here was, well, whether
they're serving prime rib, so we're going to pay eighty

(08:47):
dollars per person, and we're going to proceed to eat
our weight in prime rib, which of course didn't happen.
After about two pieces. That was it, and we ate
so few other things that we didn't even begin to
get our money is worth. But if I had a
teenage boy at home, if I had a fifteen sixteen
year old kid, who can just kind of seemingly, I mean,

(09:08):
you can't fill a fifteen year old a fifteen sixteen
year old teenage boy, you can't fill them up. There's
no way. Then that would make a lot of sense.
And I'm actually kind of glad, you know, because I
think the American Buffet was in real danger. COVID just
killed the buffet. I mean, even if you or somebody
likes to go to a golden crowd or what have you, you

(09:29):
have to a bed, you probably didn't do it during COVID, right,
because you're afraid of the germs that are being spread around.
So even though those buffets tried to install people at
the line and they took them doing the mask and
the gloves and all that kind of stuff, taking all
the precautions, a lot of people were nervous about going
to a buffet during COVID. So this is nice that
they're making a little bit of a comeback. Five ten

(09:50):
time for traffic and weather.

Speaker 5 (09:52):
To get stomach is.

Speaker 6 (09:53):
I don't know, it's low tea now or something, but
I just it just I don't have the appetite that
I had.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
You can't put it away like A used to, skuy.
I still have the appetite. Yeah, I just can't do
what we'd like to think we could, but we can.

Speaker 5 (10:03):
I can't do Olympic size eating. Let's go here.

Speaker 6 (10:06):
Oh, it's so nice to have Jimmy back around the
table and Terry. It's like it's like Thanksgiving here this morning.

Speaker 5 (10:11):
Let's check I ten West.

Speaker 6 (10:13):
Those of you who follow are those out there, not
you who follow online sources think we still have that
closure on the Katie Freeway between the Belt and Darry Ashford.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
It is, in fact cleared.

Speaker 6 (10:23):
I'm just checking double checking here and that's out of
the way. The pretty ladies on TV do know about
it too, So we're all good on the Katie Freeway.
That was no fun this weekend. Let's flip over and
hit two ninety. As you're coming in from Grand Parkway,
Grand Marchers, you're looking good to the west Loop six
ten twenty three minute stroll here West Park Tollway. Nothing
doing from Sicco Rancher Grand Lakes into the Southwest Freeway

(10:46):
Rock and long full speed ahead Southwest Freeway. I don't
even have the skunch up now that happens around the South,
around the west Loop six ten, even the merging. There's
people actually merging correctly this morning. Look at that chimney rocket.
Nothing doing. I'm skylike in here USA R and B
Resorts dot Com Traffic Center.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
Here's something we need to figure out this morning, though.
I'm looking at this list of buffets and the vast
majority of them are Asian or Chinese cuisine. Why is that? Why?
Why do you wish what a burger had a buffet? Yes,
all you can eat what a burger's same thing, eyes
bigger than stomach. But I would love to know what
it is about Asian food that they have more buffets,

(11:24):
and why their food, Why their restaurant prices are so
much cheaper?

Speaker 6 (11:27):
And why are they skinny?

Speaker 4 (11:29):
Why how do they eat so much? It stays skinny
all right? From our KTRH top Tax Defenders twenty four
our weather center, Terry is off today, Jeff bars in
for her. Not a lot of sunshine in our future
this week. It looks like Jeff.

Speaker 16 (11:41):
Now, Jimmy, you're right, we are going to see a
lot of cloud covering. Eventually we'll see some rain accompanying
those clouds by the middle part of the week as
a slow moving front approaches. In the meantime, a lot
of clouds today, but will stay dry, and there will
be some gusty winds of times out of the south.
The end result behind your eighty five degrees and it's
more clouds to night down to seventy one for the
lower cloudy and breezy day tomorrow up to eighty four. Wednesday,
we'll probably see a few isolated showers and thunderstorms into

(12:03):
the afternoon of the high three eighty five. Then rain
will increase in coverage for Thursday and Friday, with scattered
thunderstorms each day and high temperatures climbing into the upper eighties.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
Right now, seventy three at your officials, Severe Weather Station
News Radio seven forty k t RH.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
It's Houston's Morning News, brought to you by New South
Windows Solutions. Now back to Jimmy Barretts and the Houston
Morning News team all the info you need to take.

Speaker 6 (12:26):
On the day.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
Yeah, I mentioned this a couple of minutes ago that
my son Brian was in the was in the Navy,
and he sent me I'm plying back from from Dulles
in Washington yesterday and I get this little text right
before the plane takes off that Fleet Week. It's been
announced that the Fleet Week in November is going to
be here in Houston for the first time. We've never

(12:47):
had a Fleet Week before. So what is Fleet Week
all about? Here is a report from KHOU eleven.

Speaker 17 (12:54):
We look forward to bringing the Navy down to Houston.

Speaker 18 (12:57):
With this video call to Houston Mayor John WHITTMI at
the US Navy sharing the big news that Fleet Week
is coming to h Town. I'm told it'll take place
from November fifth to the twelfth, just in time for
the Navy's two hundred and fiftieth birthday. And it's historic
for another reason.

Speaker 19 (13:14):
It'll be the first time that Fleet Week is in
the state of Texas, meaning first time in Houston.

Speaker 20 (13:20):
Why Houston if we want to go to areas that
don't have a large presence of Navy and Marine Corps.

Speaker 18 (13:26):
Career Admiral John Hewitt says, it's a way to share
what the Navy does by having Houstonians meet with sailors
and get tours of the vessels as seen in this
video of Fort Lauderdale Fleet Week happening right now. And
it's also a way to inspire future sailors. Why is
it so important to connect with the community in that way.

Speaker 17 (13:46):
Because we need people to replace guys like meat.

Speaker 15 (13:49):
We need people to wear the cloth of the nation,
to man our ships, to go into the Marine Corps,
and to defend our nation.

Speaker 18 (13:55):
When Fleetweek comes to Houston, I'm told the vessels will
be here at the Port of Houston Basin as well
as here at the Bayport Terminal. It'll be a unique
experience for locals. It's also thrilling for sailors Quarterwick Walton
and Joshua Wilson, who are both from the Houston area.

Speaker 17 (14:13):
I have my family just come there and support because
I know all of them.

Speaker 21 (14:16):
Can make it so this sleet week.

Speaker 19 (14:18):
But seeing all my family, are.

Speaker 18 (14:21):
You looking forward to sharing what you do with your
family and friends?

Speaker 2 (14:24):
I am?

Speaker 4 (14:25):
Is it just me or did the k h o
U eleven reporters sound particularly excited that there's gonna be
a lot of seamen in the town. Five twenty one
time for traffic and weather together what.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
Come on now, come on, well that's the five o'clock cower.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
Yes, this guy Mike, come on, Hea, he's excited. Baby's coming.

Speaker 5 (14:43):
Fleetwood.

Speaker 6 (14:44):
The fleet week is I guess it's basically like open house, right,
like open house for the Navy for you know, everybody.
Everybody come in and take a look. Let's go to
two ninety manga inbound and then nothing doing there so far.
I've got to stall here westbound on the outbound side.
He's moved over to the sidelining his own business. Katie Freeway.
There's some online still showing that closure between the Beltway

(15:07):
and darry Ashford that's now reopened. Here for confirmed with
that with the pretty ladies on TV, and also have
shared that with my.

Speaker 5 (15:13):
Other people that even compete with me. I don't care.

Speaker 6 (15:15):
I want everybody to know what's going on. Let's see
what's happening on the southwest side now Southwest Freeway.

Speaker 5 (15:21):
It's good.

Speaker 6 (15:22):
Richmond, Rosenberg, Brazis River, twenty six minutes into downtown Golf Freeway.
The endless zone of construction between Tiki, between Tiki and bunkies.

Speaker 5 (15:32):
That's on, but we're good so far.

Speaker 6 (15:34):
Twenty one minutes from Clearlake, I'm Skymike and the Generator
Supercenter dot Com traffic Center.

Speaker 4 (15:38):
All right, doctor oz on the biggest problems with Mendicare
and Medicaid coming up here in just a moment. First,

bright and early on the Monday morning.

Speaker 7 (16:08):
Here's Eric Good Morning five twenty two on news Radio
seven forty KTRH. President Trump says he's disappointed with Russia
as he urged Vladimir Putin to sign a deal in
the war in Ukraine. Houston police investigating a shooting that
left three children dead or excuse me injured overnight near
Denver Harbor. Officers say that the victims were rushed to
the hospital, but so far no suspect description has been released.

The most important issue, what.

Speaker 17 (16:48):
Matters to you, that concerns me the most?

Speaker 22 (16:50):
Plans rights matters to us, The US economy, not a
fall one K Fun News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
All right, so, doctor oz gots worn in last week
doctor meminaz unsuccessful candidate for Senator from Pennsylvania, I got
to envoy with the Trump administration CMS director that really
covers a whole slew of different medical things. He works

(17:19):
in the same building as RFK Junior and maybe on
a few of the same things. But you can tell
that the dose impact is great on every department right
now in government, and that includes Medicare and Medicaid. Now
you've got a lot of Democrats running around who are
doing what they love to do, just like they do
with Social Security, which is to say that this guy's

(17:41):
going to get rid of Medicare and Medicaid. You're going
to lose your benefits. All they are really trying to
do is get to the bottom of these different little
slush funds. It's the same sort of thing. There's DEI
money and all sorts of other things they get filtered
through Medicare and Medicaid that shouldn't be filtered through Medicare
and Medicaid. The Medicare and Medicaid departments are pretty pretty simple.

Speaker 23 (18:01):
You know.

Speaker 4 (18:02):
They're to provide benefits for people who are entitled to
get the benefits. Is doctor oz talking about some of
his biggest problems and mission when it comes to Medicare
and Medicaid?

Speaker 12 (18:12):
Can you say today, are you cutting Medicaid as Democrats
claim and will continue going up to midterms next year.

Speaker 20 (18:22):
President Trump has been very clear with me. He said
it publicly. He wants to love and cherish I'm quoting him, Medicare, Medicaid,
these programs. We are focused on saving Medicaid. That's what
we've got to do. That's the existential threat that you
spend it into the ground and we don't have the
resources to take care of our most vulnerable. I'm sitting
right now in the Humphreys Building, which is the healthing

(18:45):
Human Services Building, Bobby Kennedy and I basically live here now.
If you walk in the building, there's a quote from
Hubert Humphrey says, it's a moral obligation of government to
take care of people who are in the dawn of life, children,
people in the twilight of life, mature seniors, and people
who are in the shadows, those with disabilities. To do that,
you have got to make the system work better. And

(19:06):
Democrats should be cheering us on because we're going after
problems that have plagued the system that people have not
dealt with for the last four years. I'll give you
a couple examples, simple ones. A billion dollars spent Medicare money,
taxpayer money money. This should have gone to the impoverished
children and seniors struggling with the illnesses you get when
you get older. And this billion dollars went because people

(19:28):
were registered in multiple states on Medicaid at once, so
you're paying a lot of states even though they're not
living in those states anymore. We've got two hundred million
dollars spent on housekeeping services.

Speaker 17 (19:38):
Is that part of the charge of Medicaid?

Speaker 20 (19:41):
Ten million dollars spent on student loans from Medicaid. That
could go to saving people who have sickle cell anemia
with gene therapy that's remarkably effective in completely reversing a disease.

Speaker 17 (19:51):
Three million dollars on DEI.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
What's with the student loan thing is is that their
way of finding money? Yeah, they find money, at least
during the Biden administration, they've found money in all different places.
They would cheep hook you. If you're taking student love
money out of Benicare, Medicaid, clearly you're you're doing it
because you can't find it where it should be right
or you run out of it where it should be

(20:14):
five twenty six. It is time to take a look
at your money. Jeff Fellinger, good morning, and Jimmy, good
morning to you. This is going to be a big
week for potential market movers.

Speaker 24 (20:25):
Not only will investors get quarterly results from Apple and Microsoft,
Meta Platforms, and Amazon, they'll also get a lot of
important economic indicators all leading up to the monthly employment
report Friday morning. The current consensus is the economy added
about one hundred and thirty thousand jobs last month. Stock
market futures pointing a little lower this morning. S and

(20:46):
P futures are down thirteen NASDAK futures down forty four
and the Dow futures down sixty one points. I'm Jeff Bellinger,

(22:31):
Here's Eric Sharp.

Speaker 7 (22:32):
Good morning, five point thirty one on news Radio seven
forty KTRH.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
Our top story this hour.

Speaker 7 (22:37):
President Trump relishing in his success as his one hundredth
day and office comes up.

Speaker 23 (22:42):
President Donald Trump directing members of Congress to focus on
his one Big, Beautiful Bill, and he is celebrating his
administration's successes on the border, touting a ninety nine point
nine percent success rate in stopping illegal crossings. President Trump
is also selling his vision for Terris to the Ammerican people,
as his poll numbers on the economy face growing pressure

(23:04):
don true social Trump wrote, quote, when tariffs cut in,
many people's income taxes will be substantially reduced, maybe even
completely eliminated. Focus will be on people making less than
two hundred thousand dollars a year. Massive numbers of jobs
are being created, with new plants and factories on the way.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
It will be a bonanza for America.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
The external revenue service is happening.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
And that was Fox's Nate Foy.

Speaker 7 (23:29):
President Trump says he's disappointed with Russia as he urged
Ladimir Putin to sign a deal to in the war
in Ukraine. Trump told reporters Sunday he wants the Russian

was disappointed that missiles were flying. The frustration comes as

Russia launched its deadliest attack on Kiev at almost a

approval ratings for the Democrat Party hitting a new historic low,
political writer Steve McCann points out that an American thinker
dims have said goodbye to the center left.

Speaker 25 (24:08):
At this stage of the game, the center of lefts
has pretty much become a non entity within the Democrat
Party or within the left. I mean, the marchers know
that they dominate the left side of the political structure.

Something we sell in here in Houston just a week

Speaker 26 (24:36):
We're failing to replace our own population, which creates problems.

Speaker 27 (24:40):
One problem is that less young people means a smaller
working population and therefore a less productive economy.

educational costs associated with having children, all those things to

Houston's news, weather and traffic station, News Radio seven forty ktrrange.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
Hine, it's decision to retaliate. What's happy with his cast?

Speaker 3 (27:56):
All the day's happenings. We're session looming right here.

Speaker 4 (27:59):
What's ahead on news Radio seven KTRH five thirty seven
our time here in Houston's point tow So what do
you make? What do you make of President Trump's five
thousand dollars baby bonus? That's his idea here. You know,
the US fertility rate is hovering your record low. Younger
people hesitant to have children. Now, the question is why

(28:26):
are they so hesitant to have kids? Is it because
they can't afford to have kids? Because I got to
tell you, would you not agree with this? Most of
us that did have children really didn't think we could
afford to have children. We just made a decision we're
gonna have kids and figure it out, and we did.

(28:46):
That's how that generally works. That's one reason why people
don't have children. Another reason why people don't have children
is they don't want the responsibility. That's part of the
problem too. I think you know, there are plenty of
people who you know, it's all about me. It's all
about what I want to do as a young person
right now. I really don't want to be settled with
the responsibility of raising a child. They may be worried

(29:09):
about the divorce rate, worried that they don't have a
partner who they can count on. I mean, there's a
lot of things to go into it, but affordability is
one of the factors. So let's say that, you know,
what we're trying to do here is tackled. The affordability
problem is a five thousand dollars baby bonus enough to
make somebody who is not having kids rethink having kids,

(29:33):
because I think everybody understands it costs a little more
than that to raise a child. The figure these days
between birth to the age of eighteen is right around
three hundred thousand dollars, is what it would cost you
to raise a child. A little more if you are
raising them more extravagantly, a little less perhaps if you

(29:56):
are not. But let's for the sake of argument, let's
say three hundred thousand dollars, which is a pretty good
chunk of change. And that's just for the first eighteen years,
which is kind of laughable when you think about it,
because that gets them through high school graduation. If you're
sending them off to college, chances are your expenses are
going to go up from there. If you raise a

(30:18):
child that's not really interested in being independent, they may
be somebody who you are taking care of them one way,
shape form or another, well past the age of eighteen,
in which case you know you could be spending half
a million dollars or more. So here's my question. Today,
you go to the iHeartRadio app KTRH, please make us
number one on your preset, send me a picture. We're

(30:38):
gonna give away some more concert tickets this week to
anybody who sends me a picture of KTRH on the precept.
We're gonna have a random drawing. I guess I should
say the people who send that picture in of KTRH
number one on your preset on the iHeartRadio app, you
send it to Jimmy j I am m Y Barrett
V A R R E T T at iHeartMedia dot com.
But the question of today, you can hit the talkback

(30:59):
by can give me your first name where you're calling from,
and make your comment to have up to thirty seconds.
Is five thousand dollars enough to interest you or your
kids into having another child? And if not, is there
anything that would Is there any amount of money that
would make them interested in having another child? All right,

Colorado Springs, Colorado, where over one hundred illegals were arrested.
Evidently it was a nightclub where there were one hundred
and forty hundred and fifty people there, many of whom

(33:23):
are gang members, many of whom were prostitutes, many of
whom were just playing in the country illegally. They arrested
and detained more than one hundred of them. More in

All right, big operation in Colorado Spins Colorado. That's where
they've had to trend the Aragua gang issues, you know,
taking over apartment build and all that. And they still
have problems, except now there is administration that is interested
in rounding these people up and deporting them. So here's
the report of what happened over the weekend, big huge

(36:13):
raid at the nightclub. Here's the report from Fox thirty
one in Denver.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
Yeah, Kim.

Speaker 31 (36:18):
This has been a long term investigation by the Drug
Enforcement Administration and a number of federal partners. Now, federal
officials did undercover work and they conducted surveillance for months
to identify what was going on here. More than three
hundred law enforcement officers assisted in the operation, led by

(36:40):
the DEA Rocky mountains Field Division.

Speaker 32 (36:42):
Seen quite a number of guns and took a number
of people into custody. The result of this operation is
that Color of Springs is waking up to a safer community.

Speaker 31 (36:51):
Today, DEEA Rocky Mountain Field Division Special Agent in Charge
Jonathan Pullen says significant drug trafficking, prostitution, and crime of
violence were happening inside the nightclub, located near Airport Road
and South Academy Boulevard. Officials made entry just before four
this morning. ICE one of the agencies a part of

(37:13):
that operation, taking dozens of people into custody.

Speaker 32 (37:16):
So as you may suspect, when the cops showed up
at the door, most of the drugs hit the floor,
and we did find cocaine. It looks like some pink
cocaine or the TUSSI. We had over one hundred illegal
aliens inside as well, and those over one hundred illegal
aliens were taken into custody by ICE.

Speaker 31 (37:33):
Pullan says more than a dozen active service members were
in the club during the operation and they were involved
in some of the crimes, either as patrons or working
as armed security.

Speaker 32 (37:43):
Yes, it's obviously concerning to have active duty military involved.
We're working with our partners at Army CIDEA on that piece.
Obviously where we are here in the Springs, there's a
lot of military bases here, so it's not necessarily surprising.
But we're going to take that very seriously.

Speaker 31 (37:57):
Federal officials say the nightclub was frequented by trindad or Wagua,
MS thirteen and Hell's Angels, but they could not confirm
if any members were involved into arrest.

Speaker 32 (38:07):
The message is we're not going to stand for this
criminality in our city.

Speaker 4 (38:11):
Uh. I think I could answer that that that question
she's asking, not sure if any gang members, you know
MS thirteen or trend de Aragua gang members were arrested.
Did did did they look at the video footage they
were talking about? Did did they see the tattoos? How

(38:32):
about the guy who's got the gold chain with MS
on it? What do you think do they think that
stands for multiple sclerosis? No, it's for MS thirteen. Come on, people,

republican you're, in the. Middle Aren't you.

Speaker 2 (53:49):
So i'm Really Not.

Speaker 33 (53:50):
A bush republican I'm Really. A reagan republican i Worked
for around reagan off and on, for THREE years and
i believe the, country is fine finally now getting itself.
Back ON track but i will. Tell you why This
moment in american history is very similar to nineteen eighty
four in the sense That the. Country reagan realigned the,

(54:15):
country in fact pulled over what they Used To call
reagan democrats, into his camp and the country really did
realign itself, around core priorities which, were smaller, government lower.
Taxes strong, defense of course in this, day and age
we have to protect our border a bunch. Of OTHER
things and i Am running in maine really as a
what i'd call it, common SENSE conservative because i believe

(54:38):
that's where. The country is, But more importantly maine is
in a terrible state of, play right now and people
who know it maybe come.

Speaker 21 (54:43):
For the summer.

Speaker 33 (54:45):
Maine is in a state where we went from five
overdoses maybe fifteen years ago to ten thousand. Overdoses last year,
in this state it's being carved up. By drug traffickers
we have a tax system that puts. Us number one
we have the number one property taxes in The, country
in maine a little place with an average income of forty.
Two thousand dollars and then we have just the garbage

(55:09):
that you're reading about in the newspapers and the arguments
that This Very leftist governor mills Is Having. With president
trump my view, is cut, crime cut taxes and. Cut
the nonsense and. It's very straightforward we are in a
position where a state that used to be fantastic in
terms of its safety and its liveability.

Speaker 30 (55:32):
Is, now currently.

Speaker 33 (55:33):
Unaffordable ABSOLUTELY unaffordable, so i say if you, are a
Conservative go to bobbyfirmaine dot com and help me with
a contribution where if you don't want to invest in
a state that is going to turn itself completely read in,
twenty twenty six that's the way. To do it we're
Going to turn maine completely red because it is a
state that is unfortunately just gone South under these democrats

(55:56):
they've controlled it for the. Last, thirty years.

Speaker 4 (55:58):
Well you know one thing is a guy, who you
know spend His. Youth in michigan it's a very. Similar
situation there they vacillate back And forth Between. Republicans and
democrats they never seemingly make up their mind about what
it is. That they want, they have it they have
it pretty Good under, a republican governor and then they
turn around and elect, a you know A. Far left
democrat and that's not what's going on, there right now

(56:19):
although they do have a very Progressive. Governor in michigan
what's wrong? With these states why can't they figure out
where they're? Making their, MISTAKES you.

Speaker 33 (56:28):
Know i think that there has been and. Don't underestimate
it it's going. To Be, true in Texas just Like,
michigan and maine there is a absolutely. Relentless progressive push
they want to corrupt the process in the sense. That
the progressives progressive used to be. A good word it's
not a. Good word, anymore the progressives those who essentially

(56:48):
have subscribed to something Just, shy of marxism want to have.
Illegal aliens voting they want to have the. Government controlling
everything they want to put faith. Out of business they
want to put an environment where the administrators and those
with leftist ideology, control the schools. Not the parents they
want high taxes because it. Gives THEM control and i

(57:12):
think what maners have finally realized or, are realizing now
is you know what this is the slow. TRAIN to,
hell i mean this is not going to create a
state where, you, have healthy. Happy prosperous people we've chased
our young people out of the state because there are.
No good jobs they've ruined. The school systems we were
number one or number two in the country in the.

(57:33):
Mid nineteen nineties we're now. Number forty nine they have
put us in a position where we're not learning, things
IN schools and i have come from a whole. Family,
of teachers instead. It's just infuriating they're. Indoctrinating these KIDS
and so i think what happened is mayners who are
Like Every day. Norman rockwell, people and again if you
want to help me win, this state back just Please
go to bobbyformaine dot com and Help me win maine

(57:56):
back to. Conservative common sense but this is a state
that basically thought it was on, the right track, trusted
their leaders and their leaders took a hard left turn and.

Speaker 2 (58:05):
They're, in trouble.

Speaker 4 (58:06):
Well hopefully they will not. Be fooled again you get

I don't know if there's any Drinking involved, with this
wisconsin story but, we have a JUDGE and you don't
i have. Heard of this judge evidently she and her
husband decided it would, be a good idea not only to,
she is a judge to prosecutes this illegal alien that
came in, front of her court but she also decided
it would be a good idea to invite this person

(01:15:11):
into their home and to stay there where they basically
hid this. Guy, from the public well the it's getting
to the point where we are talking. About ARRESTING the
judge the Fbi is arresting this wisconsin judge and accusing this.

(01:15:38):
JUDGE of obstructing ice i think that's a pretty easy
case in order to prove at least they would fear.
That way to me Here's Former Deputy Assistant attorney general
tom dupree on whether or. NOT this makes sense i
don't see this as a.

Speaker 35 (01:15:50):
Case of show voting We've Heard from the attorney general
and we heard from the federal agents who are on
the scene that this judge allegedly engaged.

Speaker 30 (01:15:57):
In a pretty.

Speaker 5 (01:15:58):
Disturbing course of.

Speaker 35 (01:15:59):
Conduct obviously did not want the federal agents to execute
the warrant and take this. Person into, federal custody and
again according to the allegations are very serious that she
basically escorted him out through a secret exit and did
everything she could to hustle him out of, the courthouse
and security and that ended Up In as, the attorney
general reported a pretty extraordinary scene outside the courthouse when

(01:16:22):
the federal agents literally had to chase the guy down
the street as he was. Running away from them it's
not exactly judicious. Behavior by the judge.

Speaker 36 (01:16:29):
And put your deputy ag hat back, on for a,
Moment if YOU will and if i were bringing to
you a case of a judge and his wife there
Were Harboring an alleged trende aragua gang member that it
was allowed access to guns and could, show you the
tattoos the evidence that ties, him to the gang as

(01:16:52):
well as the evidence that shows that he was.

Speaker 6 (01:16:56):
Residing in This.

Speaker 36 (01:16:57):
Casita on the kanosy would you see that as justified
to go, out, AND arrest them.

Speaker 35 (01:17:04):
WELL i, would look i mean the fact, is is
here too you have what is allegedly. JUST extreme, extraordinary
behavior i mean no one in our society should be
engaging in, that sort of, conduct harboring gang members.

Speaker 17 (01:17:17):
Giving them assault weapons and.

Speaker 35 (01:17:18):
That sort of thing and the fact that someone is
a judge or a former judge doesn't give them a
pass to do. This sort, of, conduct so again look
everyone is. Innocent until proven guilty these. Are all just
allegations but based on, these very serious allegations it's hard
for me to see how you can characterize this as
show voting rather than simply enforcing The Laws.

Speaker 4 (01:17:38):
Of the united states well maybe some of these arrests
will slow these people, down a, Little bit all right.

All right in, california, tell you what man they come up.
With some crazy stuff evidently there is a bill In
front of the california state legislature that would make it
legal for students college students to live in their cars
because evidently college tuition has gotten so high that many.

(01:26:11):
Of them can enough. They can't afford everything they can't
afford tuition, and room and board therefore they have. NO
place to stay i guess that's. The Idea Behind it
here's greg guttfeld in his. Panel talking about it.

Speaker 39 (01:26:27):
So there's a new california Bill Proposed by a democrat
assembly member where it could allow homeless college students to
sleep in their cars in an effort to address. The
state's housing crisis so they THE universities, will develop i
mean this. Is like thought through they're going to develop
an overnight parking program with access to basic.

Speaker 6 (01:26:46):
Needs in campus.

Speaker 39 (01:26:47):
Security this is crazy they're basically saying it's too expensive to,
live at the college so you can live, in the
parking lot but you.

Speaker 6 (01:26:56):
Could.

Speaker 40 (01:26:56):
Pay the tuition yeah instead of doing anything to bring
to on the, uh super high constituition they're just making
it easier for the. Kids to, be homeless, you, know, They're, like,
okay next uh well we're not going to bring the,
cost of textbooks down but we're going to allow people
in the dorms.

Speaker 6 (01:27:12):

It's all bad uh and you know you in my
college still will call me every now and then and ask,
me For a donation, and i'll say no, and, they'll
be like well don't you want other people to have the,
Same Opportunities you had, and i'm like no they Should
just buy a lamborghini and then push.

Speaker 6 (01:27:43):
It's, a mystery greg.

Speaker 41 (01:27:44):
Yeah but this is this Is just a classic california
ye where they created horrific policies that make housing, unattainable
for many people and rather than reevaluating, their entire, political
worldview they're like let's just pass a new law that
lets people. Sleep, in their cars yes and they pat
themselves on the back.

Speaker 17 (01:28:05):
Like they've done something the.

Speaker 4 (01:28:06):

is garbage we are. Passing Very little conservative legislation the
Democrats have run of the house in its pathetic.

Speaker 4 (01:34:12):
And this Particular Bill Would Create The, texas teacher recruitment
scholarship program which would offer up to forty thousand dollars.
To individuals pursuing teaching certification but nothing of the bill
requires those recipients To Be, citizens of the united states
so we could we, could be giving you know money

even tie them for example to a Requirement To? Teach,
in the. United states no we had.

Speaker 30 (01:34:40):
We had, multiple amendments on, that bill one requiring citizenship
another requiring that you. Couldn't you couldn't lead, riots you couldn't,
lead riots not not protests but riots that destroyed personal
property and brought violence. Onto onto a university campus And all.

(01:35:02):

burros burrows is just walking as closely As he can,
with the democrats right now basically doing everything.

Speaker 4 (01:35:17):

in the American train, live in, the american train you.
Know running this camping world every one of his, stores have, the,
same thing this big giant thirty Five hundred, square foot
of american. Flag and some surprising places, we've done this
story before but there's there's some surprising places that. Have,

(01:45:06):
fought him on this well that. Doesn't meet, our flag
ordinance uh well the only ordinance he really cares about
when it COMES. To that is, the faa in other
words if if if it's if we're, too close TO
an airport or the faa thinks, it's a, hazard, for
planes then okay fine we can talk about, lower in
the flag pole and we can talk about. Making having

(01:45:27):
a smaller, Flag but until that happens i'm not here
to try, to make some you know some guy On
city council, or the commissioner's office happy you know that
that that that he managed to beat, me up on
their ordinance which. Just, mean diadily to me anyway here
he is still Refusing to remove his oversized american flags
and offering to. GO to jail if necessary i.

Speaker 42 (01:45:49):
Think ultimately you have local ordinances that, want to control
the marketplace and you think about what the current administration thinks,
about ELIMINATING regulations in business and i think the least
it's a little too excited thinking that when we say,
we want to lessen regulations we're talking. About things that
protect customers what we're really trying to do is just
give people the freedom to do what they want.

Speaker 5 (01:46:11):
To do within.

Speaker 42 (01:46:12):
The compliance of the law, and this, whole flag nonsense quite,
frankly is baffling to ME because we use. The faa
AS our regulator if, the faa tells us no where
they tell us it needs, to.

Speaker 17 (01:46:22):
Be lower or. Smaller we comply, with that outside of.

Speaker 42 (01:46:25):
That it's the, Subjective piece and you know i've been,
doing this for, twenty YEARS as you mentioned and.

Speaker 9 (01:46:32):
I.

Speaker 43 (01:46:36):
How big are, These, flags by the way marcus but
the flagpoles there are.

Speaker 17 (01:46:40):
One hundred and thirty feet then they're universally. The same
across the country and the flag. Itself is forty by
eighty it's.

Speaker 42 (01:46:46):
Thirty two hundred square feet, and yes it is big
and yes it does cost over one hundred and thirty. Thousand,
Dollars to put up wow but it, really is representative of,
me of my love letter my gift back to the people,
that have served this country who have defended this country
to allow an immigrant like.

Speaker 17 (01:47:04):

the local elected officials what are how are? THEY coming

Speaker 1 (01:47:22):
Think people are.

Speaker 17 (01:47:23):
A little conflicted right now we know that we're.

Speaker 42 (01:47:25):
GETTING support from the administration i Have many friends in the.
Trump administration who support it there are STATE senators and
congressmen and us senators that are.

Speaker 17 (01:47:34):
Encouraging us to do this and, my response to everybody
is if this, is such a.

Speaker 42 (01:47:38):
Great thing then let's pass the national bill that allows
the flags as long as you're faith as long AS,
they comply with the faa as long as they're done
so in a way that. Doesn't, put people in harms
way let's pass the national bill that ALLOWS people. To
display the us flag this isn't an opportunity to exploit
it to put up you.

The top side? Of the ship.

Speaker 6 (01:53:11):
Will that entail.

Speaker 44 (01:53:15):
It would entail one of the main things that entails,
is replacing the complete wood deck which. Will take us
almost a year it's just we have. To replace it
per historic standards, that will be a pine deck which
is what she.

Speaker 4 (01:53:27):

Speaker 44 (01:53:30):
WILL also be repairing the superstructure i don't know, if

Well our goal.

Speaker 6 (01:54:03):
Is late summer twenty twenty five.

Speaker 44 (01:54:08):
We have a lot of, things to do, on the
ship and as well we have to finalize where she's
going to go and do the AND get her ready to.

Speaker 4 (01:54:18):
Doc i think he misspoke THERE i'm surprised the anchors and.
KPRC two didn't correct Him there i think, he meant
september twenty twenty. Six because, he just said that you
know they have that, they have to, do the decking
the pine decking and that's. Going to take about, a
year and if they haven't assuming they, haven't done any
of that yet, and it sounds like they haven't then
that would be, next about a year from now would,

(01:54:39):
be the beginning of next summer so in painting and
all the other, Things TO go along with it so
i would say we've got about another year and a
few months before we Can Look forward to enjoying the battleship.

are those of? The people we, want having kids because
you know it takes about three hundred, thousand dollars at
least right now and that number will just go up

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
