start by visiting with Justin from Citadel Security Services, and Justin,
how are you doing today?

I'm doing well, jam. How about yourself?

Well, I'm doing great. I didn't have anybody break in
last night.

Speaker 7 (03:17):
Well, you know that's always a good day to start.
Good way to start the day.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Anyways, And I guess I'm gonna let me start with
a story here first. Now, I've known Justin actually for
a long time because he worked at another company that
I have done business with for decades at this point,
and then he went off and has started his own

(03:43):
business a few years ago. And about well last week
one day, it's been about a week and a half ago,
I guess, yes, sir, my alarm system went off at
the office. Please were dispatched. I being a good text

(04:04):
and I grabbed a gun and headed to the office myself,
and we ended up running some thieves off. And we
know we ran them off and it was the police
who did it, not me, because they beat me there, obviously,
But they had stuff out of one of my trailers
that we used for your thing. They had tools already

(04:25):
taken out, and when they took off, they ended up
leaving the tools behind. So that was a good thing.
Problem is, I had no notification that there was an
issue until these guys had already rummaged through everything, and
they happened to go into a building. Now that set

(04:45):
off the alarm, and even at that it was delayed.
So I was pretty upset with my old alarm system.
So I called Justin. Well, actually I didn't call Justin.
I called Citadel and asked about getting some help on something.
They recognized the name, and Justin called me back, and
it has hooked me up with some trailers while we're

(05:06):
going to put in a new security system. But Justin,
I got to tell you that those portable trailers you
got out there right now, My god, those cameras are good.

Speaker 7 (05:19):
I appreciate that. Yeah, we obviously, you know, we rolled
a few trailers out there that way. You had some
coverage in the during while we designed the new system, right,
but we came out and we took a look, of course,
and you know, I found a few different things that
we can definitely improve on. So we have three different
systems right now. Right we have our burglar system that

(05:42):
most homes and businesses have. We have your camera system,
and then we had some monitored image sensors that are
just taking pictures and sending them to the monitoring company.
The problem is all of those guys are working independently.
They're not talking to one another, that nothing is being
proactively monitored or deterring them before they get in. Police

(06:04):
were called once they were in the property, right right,
So what we're what we're going to design is a
system that everything talks together. The goal is to deter
them before they even enter the property. We're going to
be monitoring the fence lines doing active deterrence talk down.
So when a person is detected near the fence line

(06:25):
or near the property boundary, we're going to have some
loudspeakers come down and say you're in a restricted area,
you need to leave. Law enforcement will be notified.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Can you say if you need to leave immediately or
the fifty cows going to blow your head off.

Speaker 7 (06:42):
We can definitely upload some custom audio. We should definitely
be selective in what we choose, of course, yes, but
but yeah, absolutely, And to your statement about you didn't
get an alert until you know the cops called you
and after they broke and breached into the facility, right,
that's gonna change. So you'll get an alert once they're

(07:04):
near the fence line. The monitoring company will get an alert,
and then we'll have a live person. It's gonna connect
into the cameras and see what's going on to the dispatch,
law enforcement.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
And in case anybody can't tell, I hate a thief.
They work hard enough, Why in God's name can't they
get a regular job and earn money a legal way.
They break into stuff, they steal things, they get pennies
for it, and there they had to work all night
to do that stuff, where they could have had a

(07:38):
regular job and earned a lot more money. But that's
a different story. What you're gonna help me with then,
is to keep that from having to be a worry
any longer. And I mean the systems you were talking
about to follow the fence lines and different things like that.
It's just gonna be an amazing way to watch everything.

(07:58):
And I'm getting the quality of the stuff as I'm
looking at what your portable cameras are doing. Because I've
got some concrete work that we're doing at the office
right now, and while I've been sitting here doing the show,
I'm able to look and see how they're progressing with
that project. And one of the things I found extremely

(08:19):
cool that I by accident, because I've not seen video
before that I was able to zoom into and the
quality didn't dissipate. It was amazing.

Speaker 7 (08:32):
Yeah, yes, yeah, So that's called as a digital zoom.
So basically we're taking an image that's watching a big
area and we're able to zoom into it and get
some more detail.

Speaker 8 (08:43):
Right.

Speaker 7 (08:44):
And I know those concrete guys are probably hating it
over there because the speaker's going off and it's saying, hey,
your trash passion when they're in particular areas, but they
know they're being watched.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Yeah, yeah, there's not a lot of question if they're
being watched at this point.

Speaker 7 (09:06):
Right, Yeah, exactly. And really one of the neat things
that we have about the trailers is it's a way
for you, you guys or whoever right, to see what
the systems are capable of before you put your dollar
behind it, right, It gives you an opportunity to see
what they're doing, how we do things before you take
the investment, because I mean, well, let's face it, Jim, right,

(09:28):
security systems aren't cheap, r they're not, but we want
them to do what they're supposed to do in the
event something happens exactly. And so making sure that you
get the quality, you get the system that you need,
uh and if you get an opportunity to play with
it ahead of time, makes the decision a lot easier.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Well. And honestly, the thing I like about what we're
putting together for me, it's not retro. In other words,
it's not just tell me, hey, somebody they broke in
and took your stuff. This is proactive, stopping them before
they ever come in.

Speaker 7 (10:07):
Well, and on top of that, and that's one of
the biggest differentiators, right between a proactive system versus a
reactive system. Your traditional systems, they're reactive. It's after the
door has been broken, it's after they're in the building.
Proactive it's before they get into the fence line. Right.
But on top of that, because there's that layer of
AI that's in there, we're able to do license plate

(10:28):
detection recognition, so we can build a list of what
vehicles are supposed to be in and out of there.
Do we have speeding forklifts, you know in the yard?
Is there a truck that's sitting idle in a particular
area for too long? And the list goes on and on.
But this is how we can create alerts from the
system to benefit the business in more than just trespassers.

Right.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
Well, and that license plate thing, I mean of embellish
on or on the story here a little bit, because
we had a truck that pulled in our yard that
day and my guys saw him sitting out there and
wondered who it was, why they were there, And as
my guys tried tried to approach them, they took off

(11:15):
out of our fenced yard. They had no business being
there to begin with. Now, if we'd have had your
system at that time and captured that license plate, the
police would have had somebody to go talk to.

Speaker 7 (11:30):
At a minimum, right, yeah, exactly. And so what and
how we're able to do that is not from just
license plates, but from active not active returns, but PTZ
so pan, tilt and zoom, So we don't need a
camera watching the gate all day, every day, and that's
all it does. We wanted to be able to do
other things, right, So what we can do is set

(11:52):
up a camera that when motion is detected by your
gate or a gate, it spins around, zooms in and
fill is that vehicle through the property or the person
through the property. So that now your camera is watching
more than just one particular area. It's following the emotion
activity within the ability.

I thought that was funny. But look, a lot of
people don't live in Pasadena, where I'm at and where

my office is at. And I will give the Pasadena
Police Department all the kudos those guys when they're called,
they are on it on a dime. I mean, they're
fast to get to the scene. In some other cities
it can take twenty minutes plus. And if you don't

(16:38):
have a good system that's proactive, your whole place can
be cleaned out before they ever get there. And so
it's one of the reasons I'm really liking the system
that we're talking about putting in.

Yeah.

Absolutely, and it's really excuse me, it's one of the
major differentiators right again, with most systems being reactive. Proactive
is the way of the future and prevents things before
they occur. That's the whole point, right, you get notified,
we prevent it from happening. If we're lucky, we're able

to grab enough video to be able to prosecute the thieves.
It's a win win for everybody. Maybe not them, but
definitely for us.

Right, Well, I'm not worried about that thiev and sob
so yeah, it's a win win.

Speaker 7 (17:31):
Yeah, exactly. And you know, one of the things I
want to make sure to touch on is we are
not an off the shelf solution. Right. We design every
system specifically for each customer's site. So your system is
different than the one that we installed two weeks ago,
which is different from the one we installed two months ago. Right,
It's all based upon that customer's need. We have some

(17:54):
folks that are looking to do ppe detection, you know,
so personal protective equipment, so hard hats, gloves, things like that. Weapons.
If you think, like for churches or houses of worship
and schools and things of that nature, being able to
detect if a weapon has been drawn or is in
the vicinity, it really changes the way how the security

(18:19):
systems and camera systems work and helps to take the
worry out of the security protocol for every different facility overall.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
Yeah, And I mean you can do whether like we're
doing at my place, a place of business of residents,
you can do. Fairs and festivals, you can you can
do like you just mentioned, churches, things like that and
construction sites. And I think that gets overlooked a lot.

Speaker 7 (18:50):
Yeah, absolutely, and funny you should mention it, you know,
fairs and festivals. I am sitting in the parking lot
of Sylvan Beach Festival down here in the port.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Are you out there, I'm coming out there this evening.

We're going to be here. We have four units out
here on site monitoring the event, getting people tracking and
cars and all sorts of neat stuff. We're we are
the only system pumped into the main command center, so
we have live video footage in the main command center
here for all of the officers to be able to
see and view. But yeah, we're out here.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
Well, I'll make sure to find you when I when
I come out there in a couple hours when I'm done.
But uh, and you know you you did the same
for the Pasena livestock showing Rodeo as well set up
some systems. I mean, uh, we've been you've been doing
that for a couple of years at the at the Rodeo.

Speaker 7 (19:39):
Yeah, yep, exactly. And not just you guys, right, not
just Pasadena, not just the port. We go all the
way up to Dallas. We have some customers out in
Titus County down to Brazoria, Fort Ben. You know, there's
a whole slew of all over the state of Texas
that we do where the system's coming handy from a
mobile perspective as well. And it's the same technology that
we can put into a building. So and that Ai Jim,

you know, being able to search for missing kids, so
my native language search. You know, I'm looking for a
little boy in blue jeans and a black cowboy hat,
pinpointing where they were last seen saves so much time
when we have a little one that goes missing from
their parents. Uh, to be able to send the officers
to that area of interest rather than searching the entire

(20:22):
festival makes a world of difference.

Oh?

Yes, thank you. So here's the question. My house is
fifteen years old. The roof is worn out. I think
it's primarily the laminated you know, all the the assphalt
has kind of come off. There's a little bit of
hell damage. And I've had a bunch of roofers out there,
and some of them are saying I'm a fool for
not trying to get the insurance to pay for it.

(24:07):
I happen to be on the flip side where I think,
really it's just laminated an age and I should probably
pay for it myself. So I'm just curious what the
proper way of getting a new roof up there is.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Please well, if you can tie hail damage to a
certain storm, then insurance would cover. But if you cannot
do that, then it would fall back on you because insurance.
Insurance doesn't cover just age and delaminating and stuff like that.

(24:42):
They cover when there is a specific incident that caused
the problem.

Speaker 10 (24:50):
Okay, And I mean, there's a little damage out there,
but there's hardly any so I feel kind of I
don't think the insurance company should pay for it, So
I guess I'll probably go with the do it myself
or pay for it myself.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
Well, and I don't know what you're deductible is on
your roof. Uh, but a lot. I'm sorry, it's very high.
I got the Yeah, And if that's the case, a
lot of times you don't need to hit because what
happens is if you file acclaim on a roof, the

(25:25):
next thing, you know, your deductibles even higher for the
next time.

Speaker 10 (25:29):
Yes, okay, all right, thank you for your opinion. I
think that's the right way to go. Yeah, of course
I got to pay for it, but yes, I don't
think the insurance companies should get the money for it
or should be paying for it.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
Well, you know, a lot of people don't realize. But
that's what's running up our insurance rates. I mean, everybody's
trying to collect on insurance all the time, like there's
no ramifications for it. There is, and it's the increased
premiums that were all paying.

Speaker 4 (26:06):
Yep, absolutely, yeap.

Speaker 2 (26:07):

saw on the news there was a well the storms

up in Oklahoma and there was some places that were
destroyed and the one lady was saying how she just
wants to go back and get her house back and
all that, but she didn't have insurance. Okay, so there
is no claim on that, and if she had insurance coverage,

(27:04):
justifiably they should be paying for it. But a lot
of times we've got people who are trying to push
claims through that they know was not caused by a
certain storm or anything like that. Uh, you know, he's

(27:25):
doing the right thing. You take care of what's yours.
You use the insurance for what it's performed. And on
the same token that lady didn't have insurance. And I'm
sure because of all the other damage it's in that area,
FEMA's going to be setting up, They're gonna be giving grants,
They're gonna and people are gonna be wanting the government

(27:48):
to pay for all this stuff. I've been paying my
insurance premiums, you've been paying your insurance premiums. Why should
we be paying for their DAMA image if they didn't
carry insurance. Did you have cable TV? Well, why didn't

(28:08):
that go to insurance? Do you smoke? Do you do this?
Do you do that? That's all stuff that we make
a choice where we're going to spend our money. And
I'm one of the opinion that just because of a
storm comes in and you have a lot of damage,

(28:30):
does not mean that everybody ought to be pained to
bail it out, especially if you didn't take precautions on
your own, which means carrying insurance. You know, That's the
part that gets me is when they don't carry any
insurance and then they want full coverage. And on the

(28:53):
same token, if you carry fire insurance on your home
you're setting the value. If a tractor comes in and
does something that destroys that house, it only pays as
much as you had it insured for. So if they
didn't have their house insured, they must have had the
opinion it wasn't worth anything because you you had to

(29:15):
set your value of your home. Just sometimes I have
it a little different way of looking at things. Anyways,
if you have a home improvement question seven one three

the state has started cracking down severely on insurance fraud
on roofing. They had passed some laws a couple of
years ago. Uh, and there's already there was books laws
on the books rather on the fact that roofers couldn't
pay the deductibles and things like that, and it is

(30:00):
still happening. But uh, they they put some teeth into it.
They've been cracking down on people. It's a felony. So
if you, you know, commit fraud with dealing with a
roofer on the deductibles and things like that, you can
get into some pre major trouble, not just the roofer,

(30:24):
but you as well, because you had to you knew
what your deductible was, and you elected not to pay
it and elected to let the roofer, it becomes this
whole thing. So I want to caution people don't get
involved in that kind of stuff. If you've got a
roofer trying to make those kind offers to you, you

(30:45):
need to get a different roofer. Got a question seven

my brother was over at the place, oh I guess Thursday,
and he was looking at the door I had put

to break into a well, break into vehicles and they
were cutting tires and just being destructive, and my dad
my brother went out and by the time they got
finished with this guy, he was begging for the police
to come get him. Yeah, we don't have a whole

lot of sympathy for thieves that way, and it's always
been that way. We work hard for what we do,
just like everybody else. Why do we want a thief
to be able to do anything with it? Anyways, you
got a improvement question, let's talk some home improvement. Seven

family won't let me on the roof anymore to blow
the leaves out of the valleys. Concerned as to the

moisture that is under the leaves causing problems. I'm trying
to think of a way to make a PBC extension
to my leaf blower so that I can blow the
leaves while standing on the ground. Thanks, well, it's done
all the time.

Speaker 11 (36:47):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
You know they make extensions that you can hook up
to your blower for blowing the gutters out. You can
absolutely do one for the leaves as well. Now you're
gonna typically you're gonna want to use either a PVC
pipe or a very thin wall metal pipe. You don't
want to use a schedule forty PVC because that's actually heavy,

(37:11):
so you'd have to use thin wall or, like I said,
a real thin wall metal and you basically have to
attach it to the end of your leaf blower. It's
done all the time. You're typically going to want to
be able to extend it down a little further on
the leaf blower to secure it. You can't, in other words,

(37:33):
you can't just have a joint butt up to each
each other. But what you can do is take a
two inch piece of thin wall and put a piece
of flat bar on top of it. Extend up about
say two feet down onto your blower the two feet

(37:54):
take that thing up. Now they're attached to each other,
and your air will go out. The thing you have
to keep in mind, the longer the pipe, the less
air you'll pressure that you'll have coming out the end. Uh,
Simply because the resistance of the air going down the pipe,
it will slow the air movement itself. So if you

(38:16):
tried to blow it out one hundred feet, you'd probably
get very little air as far as pressure, you know,
speed coming out at the end, but you would still
get some air. So but yeah, you absolutely can do it,
and you are correct in being worried about that. You know,
we were talking about a roof a minute ago. Moisture

(38:39):
sitting on the roof, and those leaves and stuff they decay,
They turned to dirt. The dirt sits on the roof,
it starts decaying the shingles. It's not good for the roof,
so it's a It is a good thing to get

Well, I don't know if I have a unique problem.
I own a house. It used to be my mom's
house and I still own it, and that when.

I bought it.

When we bought it, it was you could see about
it's on blocks. Uh huh, you know, woulden't frame and
you could see about one block maybe eight inches or so, right,
And I guess over the years that thing is sunk.
How would you get under there to repipe the house?
Would you tunnel under there? Do I have to lift
the house?

Speaker 2 (39:43):
Or well? I don't think I could be a bit
of work. The tunnel it is, it's what we call
a half tunnel because you got to dig it enough
to where you can crawl in underneath there. And honestly,
when we would come out, we would probably recommend to you, Look,
we're already having to dig in order to come in
and do the plumbing. Why don't we utilize these same trenches,

(40:04):
and that's really what they are, as trenches to set
jacks and pick the house back up into a more
of a reasonable elevation since you don't have to do
this again in the future, because typically you're supposed to
have eighteen inches minimum clearing some of Yeah, yes, sir, Yeah,
and it's easy enough to pick it back up and
get that.

Speaker 4 (40:26):
Yeah, I did that on my house years back.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
Uh huh.

Speaker 4 (40:30):
And I don't know, I guess, I don't know if
Houston sinking or what. But my house you could see
two blocks and now it's he like one and a
half blocks. Yeah, I can still get under my house.
In years back, when we bought my mom's house, I
could get under there, just barely.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
Work on not sinking into the dirt. And so, yes,
you do have to periodically raise them up some. It
depends on how soft the soil is where you're at.
But yeah, that's what you're dealing with. We can take
care of that for you.

Speaker 4 (41:03):
Would you raise it eighteen inches or just enough to
get under there? Maybe one more block.

Speaker 2 (41:07):
I'm gonna put you on hold for just a second

take it up to at least the eighteen inches, if
not a little bit higher. The soils they are soft,
the slower it is to sink down. But you asked

a question, you know, is Houston's sinking? Absolutely it is
u you know, like the Meyerland area. It has sunk
over three feet in the last last twenty years or so.
Thirty years.

So yes, that and that's the reason some areas that
never used to flood started flooding because as we were
pumping groundwater out of the ground, everything was settling down.
Now we don't pump as much groundwater though.

Uh, do you have carpenters on staff? What would happen
to the front porch? It's on a level I guess
maybe ten inch maybe ten to twelve inches a little
concrete slab there. It's a small front porch. How would
you have to come back and build a like a
traditional porch there?

It would It would depend. In a lot of cases
we're able to take that concrete porch up with the house.
In some cases it's less expensive to just build another
porch or even a concrete one. So it depends on
just on a situation.

putting in a zero threshold shower. If we were to
do that, wouldn't the drain need to be lower? It
is the foundation altered to accommodate that? Or do you

raise the floor? What would you recommend, mister Foundation well.

I happen to have built a couple of those when
I've done charity projects for people who were in wheelchairs
and different things like that. And what I have always
done is instead of having a lip that they have
to step over, you just do a little mound, a
little roll there on the edge. So and then you

(50:44):
use the small tiles. You're not going to be able
to use big tiles and it'll go up over that sod.

Speaker 11 (50:52):
Two inch tecks small enough, do you think or would
it need to be smaller than that?

Speaker 2 (50:56):
No, that two insects works perfect. I've done two of
them and it really looks nice. Your role can be
you know, you can make it roughly, you know, ten
twelve inches wide, and so it's really gradual to where
it's not going to be sticking up or anything. The
little squares do work better. We're you know when they're

(51:19):
only like a three quarter inch square. But the two
inch hecks actually does work fine.

Speaker 11 (51:26):
Well, I'll make sure I make that part of my
One of the things I look at when I'm tile
shopping then is to lean towards smaller Yeah, now we're
how do those drain or do people have any issues
with splashback. We're not in wheelchairs, but we're in our

sixties and this is our forever home, so I'm trying
to build for future accommodations. Is water kept in the
sho shower pretty well? With those? Do you find or its?

It depends on how big a shower you make, because
you can you can still put a glass door there,
and yeah, you're going to have a lip up on
a lip a space, but below the glass above the tile,
ah okay, and that's the only place where the water

Okay. So for a couple who's not handicapped yet yep,
but hope to stay in this home and and and
the remainder of our lives, would you recommend we look
into that kind.

Of a shower threshold you want the truth? Yes, sir,
you're too young for that.

I like being called yet well, while I got you can.

Speaker 2 (52:59):
I here this age bracket. Me and my wife are.
We're remodeling the house, and truthfully, I'm setting up for
as we age as well. I've got a something living
room that we're going to fill in with concrete and
things like that. But that's only because I'm doing a
major remodel on that part the shower, I mean physically.

(53:21):
Are you guys both fine right now?

Speaker 11 (53:24):
We're both fine walk miles a day, so you.

Speaker 2 (53:28):
Know, it could be fifteen or twenty years before you
would need that type of shower.

Speaker 11 (53:35):
And might be time to remodel again.

By you would want to remodel by then.

Speaker 11 (53:41):
Yeah, I got one more remodel question. Okay, the master
closet is stupid. I don't know why Emerald Holmes put
a window in the master closet, but they did. And
I'm going to need that area for shelving or hanging
rods when we remodeled, and I'm looking at two possibilities.

(54:03):
We could, I guess, break that in and do a
I don't know, maybe a herring bone pattern or something.
We did that around the side of the house and
it was fine. Or some of the neighbors have a
decorative feature where there never was a window, but it
looks like there was one and the shutters are closed. Yeah,
how is that second one handled? And do you have

(54:25):
a recommendation or a preference as far as weather proofing
and hurricanes.

Speaker 2 (54:32):
Oh, that's totally different question there, but as far as
the think the window, absolutely, yeah, you could put fake
shutters over it with no problem. Now, if you wanted.

Speaker 11 (54:43):
To sell glass there or what do, you can just leave.

Speaker 2 (54:47):
The glass there. It's not hurting anything. Your other choice
is to simply paint the glass on the inside.

Speaker 4 (54:57):
Hmm.

If you painted a dark colors, it looks like the
lights are off all the time. Nobody would notice the difference.

Speaker 11 (55:11):
Well, that's true. Now if I put shelves there, they're
they're going to have a backing. And I guess I'm
thinking about what if a hurricane or something broke the glass,
would you be able to replace that? If if there

(55:31):
was shelving in front of it for a.

Future repair, be able to replace the glass. M It's
replaced from the outside, So.

It just doesn't matter.

because heaven knows, anytime you remodeled, you have plenty to

I'm on the slap, so all my piping is up
in the attic. So I want to know what to
replace that galvanized with nowadays, since you have all this
other stuff, whether than Phoebe sting and copper pecks, it's
press this pressed type fittings.

And so yeah, go with the pecks. Uh, you know,
the the tubing, and uh, you're gonna find that that's
gonna work much much better for you. Uh. They have
their their own fittings for it. Use those, and uh,
I mean, I don't know what else to say on it.

It's a it's a great way to replumb.

Yes, well, I'll have done thumbing in the low twenty years,
so it's kind of things changed a little bitter.

Yeah.

Well, yeah, I didn't upgrade at the electrical paddle on here,
but it used to be a specific to a square
d eating funks, I mean, and just.

Stuff like that.

And I just want to know what to do with
this plumbing because it's over fifty years old.

Yeah.

Well, and and you're gonna find you know that that old,
that old galvanized pipe has probably lived its life. As
it starts to leak, yeah, just replace it. Honestly, I
wouldn't replace it until it starts the leak, unless you're
doing some remodeling. Then I would replace it. But uh,
once you start having problems with it, you can figure

it's time to go.

That's kind of what I want. I want to remodel
the bathroom because the guy that did the house before
me was trying to update it, but he didn't do
a very good job on the fire glass. And I
want to take all that outstanding shower in wonders up
and another. And when I do that, like I said,
I just want to know what kind of pipe in
the coat?

Yep, yeah, go with the pecks. And you know they
make it, uh in a red and a blue and
a white, and so go with the blue for cold
and the red for hot. It makes it so much
easier on everybody, but.

Also on the drain. And what was kind of odd
to me being built in seventy fours, it had that
old instead of dunk iron or the cast iron, it
has that black polly in.

Speaker 2 (58:57):
In seventy four. It's gonna either be a PVC. It's
gonna be uh they they were using a h that Okay,
if it's black. You've got that stuff that was almost
like felt paper, and yuh, you're gonna figure that that's

gonna be bad on you as well.

Really well, all right, then I'll just have to look
into it and look look around for some folks around

I'm doing wonderful, so great to hear. I have been
talking about USA insulation four years, long before I ever

had it put into my house, because I truly believe
foam insulation is the best way to insulate the walls.
But a lot of people don't realize you can reinsulate
your home. And like in my house built in seventy three,
I had R eleven in the walls, and to retrofit

it with foam, it just made a huge difference. I
don't feel the air drafts anymore. I killed a lot
of the noise from outside, uh and my R value
went up enough you actually see a pretty good drop
and your energy bills. I mean, it's it's a great
way to do it, and I didn't have to tear
any walls out to do it.

And that's that's where we are. We are specialists in
that as trying to save people money, not just by
elergacity build, but you know, we're remodelings. If they're trying
to tear walls down, they're they're putting a big chunk
of money just to share the walls and then resheet rockets,
you know, when we come out here. When we come

out there and reinsulate it, usually a house, a normal
average house will take us a day to finished doing
the insulation itself. Now your house being seventy three uh,
you know, like I'm glad you had insulation because usually
houses before built before nineteen eighties, they have no insulation whatsoever.

So when we go out there and then our insulation,
it will actually be five are the our value is
five point one per inch.

So let's in your case, let's say if you have
a two bout six or two by four.

If you've got two by six, simple math if Yeah,
if it's a two by six, it's simple math R thirty.
If it's a two by four, it's R twenty. Now
that's a significant difference, yep, coming from R eleven to
R thirty r R twenty.

Yeah. And in the in the reduction of the noise
and the ceiling of the air gaps, I mean, all
of that adds up to just a no brainer to
get this done.

The thing is, like what is sound? Sound is the
vibration when you have hollow walls or there's a gap
between you know, like the insulation and the sheet rock
and whatnot. It will it will transfer through with our insulation.
With the injection foam, it goes in and it solidifies
and it prevents from like it prevents from the noise

from coming in.

Right yeah, well yeah, and like I said, being a
no brainer. You know, my son lives down the street
from me, and he liked what happened with my house
so well. He had his done as well. And we're
really made a difference on his house was he had
one side that had no trees and stuff, and it
was the west side. The sun would bake that side.

They struggled to keep the bedrooms at a reasonable temperature
during the day, and this cleared that problem up.

Like right now, the climate is changing a lot, and
you know, one day it's cold, one day it's hot,
and then you can feel the cold coming through the
walls or the sometimes you feel the breeze coming through.
When you do the insulation and the air seals it,

you won't feel that. You don't feel the draft coming through,
the same thing with the within the summer, you know
you're losing energy, you're losing your AC. That's how your
AC is running all the time. It turns into let's say,
egils and whenever you we put that on there, it
will it will, it will maintain the temperature inside the

inside your home.

have a Lenar home that was built in two thousand
and five up on Lake Conroe. We've had several windows
that have fogged and had to have them redone. Curious

if we should continue on this road of having them
fixed as they fail, or should we replace all of them?
Would love to hear your comments and recommendations. Okay, Well,
it depends on what you're spending on the on the windows,
because typically if they're fogging up, you need to have

(01:11:54):
a new glass pack made and they'll come out. They
can remove the old one put the new one in.
It also depends on what those window frames are made
out of, if they're vinyl, then I would probably just
replace the glass packs as they go out. But if
they were aluminum framed, then I would replace the windows.

(01:12:18):
And of course it depends on how many windows you
have as well, but a lot of times we fail
to realize windows are not forever. They do have to
be replaced. Your house was built in two thousand and five,
and for most homes, the energy efficiency increases enough over

(01:12:39):
a period of twenty to thirty years to justify looking
at replacement windows. And in your case, the house is
twenty one years old. You're having the issue. You might
want to just go ahead and replace the windows you
can figure I mean, you got windows starting as little

(01:13:02):
as four hundred dollars going on up to sixteen hundred
two thousand dollars. If if I was going to budget
replacement windows right now, I would be budgeting something in
the five to six hundred ringe five to six hundred
dollars per window, and that would give you a budget

(01:13:23):
number to figure out, you know what it's going to
cost you to replace the windows.

The other thing I was going to comment on on
this is you mentioned that it was Lenar Home. Please
understand Lenar's didn't and I don't have good or bad
things to say about lenar homes, but I will tell
you they didn't manufacture the windows. The window manufacture is

to blame for those seals breaking. And before you start
replacement replacing all the windows, you may want to check
and see if you can find who the manufacturer was,
because some manufacturers actually put a lifetime warranty on their
glass packs against doing this. Now, a lot of that's

(01:14:18):
been done in more recent years. Back in two thousand
and five, not a lot of companies were doing that,
but as their systems got better, some of them are
doing it. But you maybe have one that has a
warranty on it and they would be replacing the glass
packs and stuff. And typically what they do is they

(01:14:39):
don't even bother just replacing the glass. They'd send you
a whole new window to put in, which can be
a pain, but it depends on what you have for windows.
You know, if you got the double chilt ones, you
can just pull them out, put the new frames and
put the new windows in and the old frame work

(01:15:00):
stays there, so it get It gives you some options
to check on. But no, if I was having to
spend two three hundred bucks to replace the glass packs
as they're going out, I would be replacing them if
if I'm only spending fifty dollars a window, hey, I'd

probably just keep replacing the the windows. Uh, you know,
the glass as as it happens. So got a question

a freeport has a brown substance coming out of the
holes appearing in the texture. I have brown spot along

If if you're wiping it off and it starts coming
back out of that same spot, you have your house
checked for termites. This is termite season. We're in full

blown going termite season right now. And when termites get
into a wall, into the sheet rock and stuff, they'll
make a little hole and around it. It looks like
it's just some brown stuff. Sometimes it looks like it's dirt.

(01:16:44):
You wipe it off, you think everything's fine. You come
back a day or two later and it's built up again,
that's termites, and you don't really know what You don't
really want to know what the brown stuff is that
you're seeing, but the and with it only being a

(01:17:06):
five year old house, you know, I can't say whether
whether it's going to be termites or not. But just
because it's five years does not mean you can't get termites.
You can get termites from almost any age would So

(01:17:29):
it's one of those things that you would definitely want
to get checked out by a professional who deals with termites,
and if you do have them, get the whole house treated.
And it's not something you want to delay long because
if it's a form motion termite or something, those things

(01:17:50):
are rapid as far as destroying a home. So let's
not delay on getting things fixed and take care of.

you get bees in the wall ors or something along
that line. But normally when that's happening, it's not just
