(03:00):
So I spent the week this past week. Last Sunday
I had it flew out to Las Vegas and the
National Final rodeos taking place this week. The rodeo itself
started on Thursday evening, but I was out going to

(03:20):
seminars as far as running rodeo associations and learning some
new techniques and different things like that, and got the
opportunity to do a couple of fun things. One of
them was to go to the National Finals. I didn't
think there was any tickets available, and I actually thought
it started on Friday. Ended up it started Thursday. Checked

(03:43):
got some tickets, and I'm telling you, if you want
to see a great rodeo, that was the one. I'm
The writers who are at the finals are all the
best of the best, and it definitely shows that was
a great evening. And then on Wednesday evening, my wife

(04:07):
had gotten tickets to go to the Wizard of Oz
in that dome, and it is the original Wizard of
Oz that's been adapted to show in that big screen
type dome, Severear whatever they call it. And it was

(04:29):
actually very good. I'd never seen the whole Wizard of Oz.
I'd seen bits and pieces here and there, but never
really saw the whole movie. And I'll tell you it's
quite the experience to go in there when the tornadoes
going and they got leaves blowing around and different times
when they got stuff flying through the air. A great

(04:51):
experience going to that as well. So if you get
the opportunity to go out to Vegas, guys, I'm gonna
tell you upfront, don't do like I did. My wife
got the tickets, be a hero, order the tickets. She'll
be very happy with you. And if you get the
opportunity to go to the finals out there, the National

(05:13):
Rodeo Finals, I tell you, I would truly recommend you
to go out there for that as well. By the way,
one of the other things they have with the Rodeo
Finals out there is the Cowboy Shopping going on Christmas thing,
and it is a convention center, two floors full of vendors.

(05:39):
You can't go through the whole thing in a day,
it just couldn't happen. But it's a lot of great
vendors and different things out there. One section is dedicated
to just hunting, so again it's one of those things.
Had a great time out there. Not a big gambler,
but just going around looking at things is always good

(06:00):
for me. So anyways, if you got a question, seven
one three two one two five eight seven four. By
the way, if you want to watch the national finals,
the Pasadena Livestock Showing Rodeo is having a watch party. Uh,
it's going to be Vegas style. They've got tables set

(06:21):
up where you can do your your little gambling and stuff.
Plus the final night of Rodeo. This is going to
take place on next Saturday, the thirteenth, and uh you
can go to Pasadena Rodeo dot com to get information
about getting tickets. I will be stopping in there as well.

(06:43):
My niece is graduating college, but we got a dinner
for her and after the dinner, I'll be stopping by.
The doors for the event open at six point thirty.
The rodeo itself starts at seven forty five. There's going
to be stuff to eat, and like I said, they've
got table gambling tables set up so you can have

(07:05):
some fun watching the rodeo again. Pasadena Rodeo dot Com,
go go take a look and get you some tickets
for that again and again. Seven one three, two, one
two five eight seven. For any home improvement question you have,
we're gonna talk with Agnes. This is Jim. How can

(07:25):
I help you?

Speaker 8 (07:27):
Okay, my dog does a pretty big hole in my
backyard and I went out to fill it up. And
I haven't really explored much. But when I look down,
I thought, what's that pipe doing coming through my backyard?
I think there's there's a pipe, Gamono, I said, a
little rusty and yellow, okay, So and I was just curious.

(07:55):
Of course, I've never seen pipes in the in the
yard anyway.

Speaker 7 (07:59):
Sure, But.

Speaker 8 (08:02):
Do I need to call a plumber or someone to
maybe someone look at it and see what it is?

Speaker 7 (08:10):
What is it a yellow plastic pipe? By chance?

Speaker 8 (08:15):
I don't believe it's plastic because it's rust. There's some
rust on it.

Speaker 7 (08:19):
Okay, Because when you said it kind of looks yellowish,
so it's more reddish in color.

Speaker 9 (08:24):
With the rust there was reddish.

Speaker 8 (08:26):
But a little yellow. And I thought, Okay, I don't
know what this is.

Speaker 7 (08:31):
More than likely it's going to be one of two things.
It's either going to be a water line or a
gas line.

Speaker 8 (08:39):
Okay, all right.

Speaker 7 (08:42):
And the reason they run through the backyard is sometimes
the main is in the back and then they got
to run the lines up to the house from the main.

Speaker 8 (08:53):
Okay, Well, this just looks like it's going straight from straight, straight,
straight across from you know, neighbor's backyard.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
In my backyard.

Speaker 8 (09:02):
Okay, is.

Speaker 7 (09:04):
It near the backyard, then near the backside of the backyard.

Speaker 8 (09:08):
It's cover in the middle, but the yard.

Speaker 7 (09:12):
Okay, because normally the easement would be, if there was
an easement for it would be all the way to
the back. But more than likely that's what it's going
to be, is one of those two items, either a
water or gas.

Speaker 10 (09:25):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (09:26):
If the dog didn't puncture it or anything. Personally, I
don't see a reason to call anybody. I would just
bury it up again.

Speaker 8 (09:34):
Is buried again, yep? Okay.

Speaker 7 (09:37):
If you are curious, if you are curious to what
it is, uh, call eight one one and tell them
you're going to be tell them you're going to be digging,
and they will come out and mark the gas lines,
the water lines, the phone and cable lines, and that'll

(09:59):
pretty much tell you what it is, because it could
be just a pipe that somebody buried for no reason
in the middle of nowhere as well.

Speaker 8 (10:07):
Yeah, okay, all right, well, thank you ever so much.
I appreciate your help.

Speaker 7 (10:12):
You bet you take.

Speaker 8 (10:13):
Care, okay, thank you, fine.

Speaker 7 (10:17):
And just FYI for everybody, if you're going to dig
in your yard, you're supposed to call eight one one
before doing it. They need three days three business days
notice so that they can come out and mark the
lines for you. So and trust me, you want to
do that if you're going to be digging, because if,
by chance you hit a line and you hadn't called,

(10:40):
there's a pretty husky fine for it. If you had called, yes,
you may still pay a fine, but it's not going
to be near as large. And if you had called
and the line wasn't properly marked, then you got no charge.
So it is worth your making that phone call. I
got a question seven one three, two one two five

(11:03):
eight seven four. That's seven one three two one two
five eight seven four Paul and Missouri City. What can
I do for you?

Speaker 11 (11:15):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Hello, Jim, Uh, I have a follow up question two
what I had last week with you.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
Okay, you gave me an.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Answer, but now I need to follow up. My question
at that time was I had some what looks like
black mold coming out of an air vent duck from
the at unit.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
Uh huh, from.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Ceiling, and you mentioned that maybe my insulution around around
the housing was maybe thin.

Speaker 7 (11:43):
Yes, ma'am, go ahead and add.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
Some additional insulation. So my question is, can I use
a closed cell phone insulation?

Speaker 12 (11:53):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (11:56):
Okay, and then I won't mess up any of the
connections or fittings if I have to go back there and.

Speaker 7 (12:03):
You'll make it, you'll make it where they got to
pull all that off in order to go into it.
But yes, you can. Personally, I would just use the insulation.
You have to move it around that a little bit,
but if you wanted to use the spray foam you could.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
Okay, Okay, all right, Yeah, that's that's all I had.

Speaker 11 (12:26):
Thank you.

Speaker 7 (12:27):
All righty, take care and you have a merry Christmas. Hey,
let's talk real quick about Citadel Security Services, because you know,
I just spent a week in Vegas. You're talking about security.
They got cameras and stuff all over the place. And
you don't hear about those guys getting ripped off much,
do you. Well, you can protect your personal properties as well,

(12:52):
where it's a business or home. Citadel Security Services is
able to put in alarm systems, is able to put
in cam systems, is able to monitor all this stuff

be rest assured your home and possessions are protected. Seven

(13:14):
them a call, talk to them and look, if you've
got construction sites where you're needing portable cameras and stuff,
they can even take care of that for you as well.
In fact, that's how I learned about Citadel Security Services.
So seven one three nine two two one nine zero one.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
You know, if you're driving up to your home and
notice cracked brick above your garage door and it looks
like it's sagging, that's because your lental is failing and
it can be expensive to repair unless you call Lental Lift,

let them repair your lental at a fraction of the
cost with a lifetime warranty. So if your garage is
smiling your beams are frowning, call Lental Lift today eight

and Garry.

Speaker 9 (14:34):
Thank you, Jim on your head there.

Speaker 13 (14:36):
Ready seal. I've got some garage doors. I put it
on about two years ago. It works great. The ready
seal looks just as good as it did today. I
put it on.

Speaker 7 (14:44):
A ready seal, you know, spray it on, roll it on,
brush it on. You don't have to worry about laps
or streaks runs any of that stuff because of the
way it soaks deep down into the wood fibers. It
takes care of all of it, and it's available everywhere.
But find a store nearest to you. Go to Ready
Seal Southern Water Solutions. This is the company to call

(15:04):
to make sure you're drinking water, your bathing water, your
laundry water is up to snuff, because yes, all of
those things can be issues for you. You know, if
you got bad water, it can leave spots on your
clothes when the laundry is being done, not to mention
what it can do to your insides. Call Southern Water Solutions,
let them test the water and design the proper filtration

(15:28):
systems for you. Eight three two five nine three thirty
nine ninety three.

Speaker 12 (15:39):
Hello, you reached the voicemail out Jim Dutton.

Speaker 14 (15:42):
Jim'sale getting a new hierd and manicure right now, so
he ain't got a lot of time, so make your
message short.

Speaker 15 (15:47):
Hey Dad, it's Adam. I was talking to Mom this weekend.
She said, your front door is getting worse again. So
I'm set up for the crews to be there Monday
and we're gonna finally get that foundation repair that you've
been putting off the last couple of years. And by
the way, happy birthday.

Speaker 6 (16:03):
Here's more Texas Home Improvement with Jim Dunman.

Speaker 7 (16:10):
Welcome back to Texas Home Improvement, your total home improvement source.
And yes, it was my birthday this week while I've
been was gone, and so they snuck all this stuff
in because I truthfully didn't come back till last night
so I could do the show today. Anyways, I'm here

(16:31):
to take your calls and answer questions. So seven one
three two one two five eight seven four pick up
the phone, give me a call, and I'll see what
I can do to help you out here on Texas
Home Improvement. Uh, you know what, I'm going to start
with a question that came in from Ron and uh

(16:51):
he said, Jim had a guy stop by today. Card says,
Texas Home Improvement. Is this your company? No, it's not
Texas Home Improvement radio show. Is my company? There is
a contractor who is using the name Texas Home Improvement.
He has no relationship to the show at all. And

(17:15):
I would not recommend the guy because, quite frankly, I
have had some complaints on him and from different people
who think that the show is his company know that
we're related. We are not. And this is one of
the big reasons I tell you go to tchipro dot

(17:38):
com to check on contractors because just like I got
a copycat doing that, I got the same problem with
due West where there's companies on the Google searches who
will have it set up where if you search for
due West, their name's coming up first. Drives me nuts.
Should not be allowed, but it is allowed. It is
what's happening. So if you go to t hipro dot com,

(18:03):
you avoid all those kinds of problems. Now, if you
got a home improvement question seven one three two one
two five eight seven four, that's the number to call
seven one three two one two five eight seven four
and I'll see what I can do to help you
out here on Texas Home Improvement, your total home improvement source,

(18:29):
Richard is asking about timberframe log installation one who has
experience working with timberframe installations, and he sent in a
second email on the timber frame stuff that says, I
would like to install some timberframewood logs in my living room.

(18:52):
And he actually sent this one first corner vertical timbers,
horizontal timbers to tie in corner timbers and vertical timber
frame rafters non load bearing. In the cathedral ceiling, these
timbers would be cosmetic only. Is this possible and if so,
can you recommend a contractor with experience to accomplish this? Well?

(19:17):
Is it possible? Sure, anything is possible, especially when it
comes to construction. But if you are just putting these
in as decorations, then I would not recommending using real timber.
I would get the fake stuff, the faux timber. And

(19:37):
the reason being you'll see this done in commercial buildings,
in restaurants or big warehouse, bass pro shops, things like that,
they're able to run a forklift or lifting equipment in
those places. In your living room, they're not. And this,

(19:58):
if you're going with real timbers, it is unbelievably heavy.
It's not something that you can typically just manhandle into place.
And so that's where using the fake stuff would come
in because it can be easily managed, put into place
and everything else. Now, because you sent two separate emails,

(20:21):
I'm also wondering if you're looking at wanting to build
something with timber frame, and if you are the places
that would sell the timber frame lumber will also have
contractors that they can recommend to you that have used
their product and know how to use it, because the
timber frame lumber is not typically something that you're just

(20:42):
going to the local lumber yard and picking up. So
hopefully that'll get you what you need on that one
quick second. Excuse me, I had to cough here and
had to shut the mic off, So hope that that
will help you out with that. And look, timber frame

(21:04):
looks great, and the and the fall stuff that's available,
you a lot of times have to knock on it
to tell is this a solid timber frame or is
this the faux stuff. So if it's just a visual
effect that you're looking for with go with the uh,
the full timbers. It'll it'll be a lot less expensive
to purchase and a whole lot easier to install in

(21:28):
the living room like you're talking about. So hope that
helps you out. Got a question seven one three two
one two five eight seven four. I got all open
lines available now seven one three, two one two five
eight seven four. Just feel free to pick up the phone,
give me a call, and let's talk some home improvement

(21:49):
here on Texas home improvement. You know du West air
Conditioning can help you with all your air conditioning needs,
whether you just need a service, uh tune up a
uh you got an outage. You know, we got some
cool weather and your heating systems not working properly, or

(22:12):
maybe somebody told you, oh you need a whole new system.
That system's eight years old, ten years old, twelve years old.

Speaker 10 (22:18):
Whatever.

Speaker 7 (22:20):
Call us. Let us come out and check out what
you have before you spend a whole bunch of money
on putting in a new system.

Speaker 16 (22:28):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (22:28):
You know, d West has been doing business since nineteen
seventy eight. We started our air conditioning division sixteen years ago.
We know how to take care of you. Seven to
one three four seven, three seven one five six. And
yes we have people there on Saturdays to help you out.
So seven to one three four seven three seven one

(22:50):
five six. Remember, when you want the best, you call
due West.

Speaker 12 (22:55):
Don't predict the grange.

Speaker 17 (22:57):
I always mean and sharing snowy that I think it's
actually kind of sweet.

Speaker 5 (23:03):
Sweet from the Texas Home Improvement Family to yours. Merry
Christmas and a happy New Year. Here's more with Jim Dutton,
Non Texas Home Improvement.

Speaker 9 (23:16):
Well send look the line.

Speaker 7 (23:21):
Welcome back to Texas Home Improvement. Your total home improvement
sour seven one three two one two five eight seven four.
That's seven one three two one two five eight seven four.
This portion of Texas home improvement is made possible by
USA Insulation. If you're looking for making your house more

(23:44):
energy efficient, more comfortable, quieter, you need to talk to
the folks at USA Insulation.

Speaker 12 (23:52):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (23:52):
Their their product actually will help control your costs of
your energy bills as well as make your house quiet
and again more comfortable. Four zero nine three one six
ninety nine fifty seven for USA Installation, And again I
want to thank them for making this portion of Texas
home improvement possible. But now that we got that done,

(24:16):
if you got a question seven one three two one
two five eight seven four, that's seven one three two
one two five eight seven four. So got an email
question from Richard that says, I would like to install
wood flooring over existing tile floor home is only three

(24:38):
years old. Can this be done without having to take
up the existing tile? Cannot install wood flooring requiring nails? Well,
the question is can it be done? Absolutely, it can
be done. There are things you have to do in
order to do it one, you're gonna have to float

(24:59):
the floor because the tile floor is going to have
grout lines and a lot of the type floors that
you would put down over it, it would show through
over time. So you got to float the floor. You're
going to use a floating floor. And so it's going
to open you up to where you can use a
wood you can use an engineered wood floor, or you

(25:23):
can use the laminate type floors. Is so you'll have
choices as far as what you want to use. So
the answer is yes, it can be done. Now, the
secondary part of that question that you didn't ask is
is it recommended? I don't recommend it. And the reason
I don't if your tile floor starts coming loose later

(25:48):
and this happens quite often, it's now underneath your good floor,
the floor that you don't want to mess with, and
you would have to take up the wood to get
down to the tiles that are coming loose, and then
you're gonna have to remove them and redo the wood floor.

(26:08):
And I just find it better to go ahead and
take the tile out to begin with and be done
with it. Your your secondary floor will come out much better.
You're not gonna have height issues to deal with, and
again if the floor starts coming loose, you don't have problems.

(26:30):
So got a question seven one three two one two
five eight seven four. That's seven one three two one
two five eight seven four, And I'll see what I
can do to help you out here on Texas Home Improvement.
So Cheryl out of Sugarland, majorimodeling contractor to include moving

(26:55):
stairway to second floor, closing off a two story four
and adding bedroom, complete master, bathroommodel, half bathroommodel, kitchen remodel. Well,
you say you're in Sugarland, so I'm going to give
you Victors Remodeling and Construction and you can give him

(27:20):
a call at Whoops, went to the wrong place here,
Let's get back to there we go eight three two
two four three ninety nine ninety seven and talk with Victor.
He'll come out and take a look and can start
helping you out with that. If you were up on

(27:43):
the north side of town, well then I would have
told you to call Texas Remodel Team at two eight
one three nine nine forty sixty two. But yeah, give
give Victors a call and he can get you taken
care of. And I have had him do different projects
for me. He's always done a great job. Again her

(28:05):
number seven one three two one two five eight seven four.
That's seven one three two one two five eight seven four.
And I'll see what I can do to help you
out here on Texas Home Improvement. Let's head to Spring
and Bob, this is Jim. What can I do for you?

Speaker 11 (28:27):
Yea, how you know? And I've got a excuse me,
thirty year old house and uh raise ceiling, and some
nail heads are popping through the sheet rock. I was
wondering if I go up there and take a punch
and a hammer, and can I knock them back in

(28:47):
and fill them over and paint them over? Or Am
I going to loosen other nails and pop other heads?

Speaker 7 (28:56):
No, you're not gonna do Yeah, you're not going to
loosen anything else. But because they've already kind of moved
out once, they will tend to do it again. So
those are more than likely a smooth shank nail. How
old the house?

Speaker 11 (29:13):
Would you say? It was thirty years old?

Speaker 7 (29:16):
So I would tend to do one of two things,
pull the nails and either put a ring shank nail
in there, because they do make that for sheet rock now,
but really, what I would probably do is pull the
nail and put in a sheet rock screw so you
don't have to worry about it backing out again, and
then do just like you were saying, cover it up

(29:38):
and paint it.

Speaker 11 (29:41):
Okay, So just put a pull the nail and put
the screw in there. Yep, Okay, good idea. Can I
have another question.

Speaker 10 (29:51):
Absolutely, okay.

Speaker 11 (29:53):
I got a a lot of tile in my house and.

Speaker 18 (30:00):
The dining room area.

Speaker 11 (30:02):
I put down lambin and floor, okay, and then I
had a problem with some water getting into the lamin
and floor. On the lambinar poor that I had down,
I then discovered had cardboard on the back of it,
and it wasn't vinyl. Vinyl with nothing on the back.

(30:23):
And so now I'm having replaced that floor, I'm having
difficulty getting something that is vinyl that it will be
as thick as the tile.

Speaker 7 (30:38):
I'll tell you what. I'm gonna put you on hold
for a second, Bob. I'll come right back to you.
I got to take a quick break because I do
have a solution for you on that. Let's talk real
quick about USA insulation, because if you are looking at
insulating your existing walls, and I did this to my
house over a year ago. I'm telling you it was great.

(30:59):
You when we get these little cold fronts, I'm not
getting cold air coming in anymore. I'm not hearing a
bunch of noise from outside through the walls anymore. It's
definitely helped lower my utility bills. And USA Insulation can
do the same for you. They don't have to tear
the walls out to put it in. They'll drill like

(31:20):
if it's a brick home. They drill holes through the
mortar line and inject a foam into the walls that
encapsulates any insulation that's in there, seals everything up and
just makes your house more energy efficient and quieter. Four
zero nine three one six ninety nine fifty seven for
USA Insulation, Lets head over to fort Worth and Garry.

Speaker 9 (31:43):
Thank you, Jim on your head there ready seal.

Speaker 13 (31:46):
I've got some garage doors. I put it on about
two years ago.

Speaker 9 (31:49):
It works great.

Speaker 13 (31:50):
The ready seal looks just as good as it did today.
I put it on.

Speaker 7 (31:53):
A ready seal, you know, spray it on, roll it on,
brush it on. You don't have to worry about laps
or streaks. Runs any of that stuff because of the
way it soaks deep down into the wood fibers. It
takes care of all of it and it's available everywhere,
but find a store nearest to you. Go to readyseeal
dot com. Southern front Doors. You know, I was at

(32:13):
their location a few weeks ago and gosh, they got
some gorgeous doors. But what's really impressive is going to
their shop how they're putting the doors together and making
them custom for your home. If you need doors, whether
it's the front door, the side door, the back door,
call the folks at Southern front Doors at two eight

(32:34):
one eight nine zero fifty eight sixty. That's two eight

door you've always dreamed of. You know, if you're having
a sewerly under your homes foundation, that's something that really
needs to be addressed. But it needs to be addressed
by somebody who can take care of the plumbing as
well as the homes foundation. That's why you want to

(32:57):
call it due West both the plumbing company and the
found foundation repair company to make sure it's your homes
foundation stays in tact years after the plumbing work is done.

Speaker 12 (33:49):
Hello, you reached the voicemail out Jim Dutton.

Speaker 14 (33:52):
Jim Sale getting a new hired do and manicure right now,
so he ain't got a lot of time, so make
your message short.

Speaker 19 (33:57):
Hey, Ded, is Johan Well? Another year down, another year
looking for a pilot's license. So I guess we're one
step closer because we've got a plane going now. I
think I've seen you in the plane one time so far,
so we'll see if we can't get that rectified and
get that pilot license one of these days. Anyways, happy birthday.
I hope it's a good day. And I guess the

(34:18):
good news is is that we're one year closer to
retirement from due West. But the bad news is is
that you still got to do this radio show for
as long as you live.

Speaker 6 (34:30):
Here's more Texas Home Improvement with Jim Duty.

Speaker 7 (34:35):
Well, there's no question I'll continue doing the radio show
as long as I can because it's definitely the highlight
of my week every week. I have a lot of
fun with it. And yes, I did get an airplane
this year, and yes I'm still working on a pilot's license.
Time is not typically my friend. I stay a little
bit too busy for things, but we'll see. Anyways, seven one, two, five, eight,

(35:01):
seven four. When we left, I was talking with Bob
in Spring and so, Bob, the new laminates that you're
looking at aren't thick enough to get you up to
the existing tile. Heyth correct, right right now, they do
make some of the laminates that have backing on them
that make them thicker to match up with some of
that stuff.

Speaker 11 (35:22):
Have you given us what I had before? And it's
really got cardboard on the back. And when I got
wet cardboard expanded and well, but.

Speaker 7 (35:30):
They got some of them that you can go put
under water. Even if you go over to floor and
decor and talk to them, take a look at like
new core for instance, that one. It can get wet
and it's not going to do that. It's not cardboard.

Speaker 11 (35:48):
Okay.

Speaker 7 (35:51):
Your other choice would be to just put some floor
leveler down to raise the floor up some and then
you can put down whatever type you.

Speaker 11 (35:58):
Want, said, like a thin sheet of plywood.

Speaker 7 (36:03):
No, it's it's literally like no, no, it's it's mortar.
And uh yeah, so it's a mortar based type product
that it's a thin set that is made for leveling
out high and low spots in the concrete. But you
can use it to raise the floor up enough to
get you even with the tile.

Speaker 11 (36:27):
Sounds like it makes a bunch of high spots.

Speaker 7 (36:30):
It doesn't. It sell it's self levels on self levels.

Speaker 11 (36:35):
Yeah, So how do you get it to come out? Right?

Speaker 7 (36:38):
You you mix it typically in a five gallon bucket,
You spread it out using like a I typically use
a one by four that's anywhere from six to eight
feet long, and then you know you'll you know, even
if you see little ridges on it, if you leave
it alone for just a few minutes, it flattens out
all by itself.

Speaker 11 (36:59):
Huh. So you're putting down something to slide on on
the edges of the room, and with alongboard, you got
a sort.

Speaker 7 (37:15):
Well I don't I just kind of yeah, I just
kind of graded out, because really all you're trying to
do is is have a nice flat level floor when
you put these laminates down.

Speaker 11 (37:26):
Yeah, you know, but I don't want it to be
over effect.

Speaker 7 (37:30):
No, Well, that's typically that's that's the part that's called
experience for you know, people who do do it on
a regular basis, they learn it and how to do it.
But for the rest of us, you just have to
be very careful as you're putting it in. You're going

(37:51):
to want to have it very thin anyways, and you
shouldn't be more than probably uh an eighth maybe two
eights of an inch off on on the height of
your tile anyways, aren't you.

Speaker 11 (38:07):
Uh Well, the tile's got some group on earth too,
so right, despite the thickness of the tile is it's
also a little taller than that than just the thickness
of the tile. So it's just a guessing game, I guess.

Speaker 7 (38:21):
Yeah, but yeah, you just have to figure out how
much you need to put to bring it up and
then go from there. So are you trying to do
this yourself? Are you going to have it done?

Speaker 11 (38:35):
I was hoping to not have to pay somebody to
do it. But okay, but I could create a I
calculate out what I think I need for heights. I
could just make a little stick with the mark on
it and dip it in the stuff.

Speaker 7 (38:53):
You can do that, or just put some you can
do that, or just put some plastic pieces down that
you can use his.

Speaker 11 (39:00):
Runner, the little quarter of the little corner things for
laying tile. Yep, we'll put those down and let them
be the depth gauge.

Speaker 7 (39:10):
Yep.

Speaker 11 (39:11):
Huh. All right, well, well.

Speaker 7 (39:13):
Thank you, no problem. You have a merry Christmas, Bob,
you too, by and again our number seven one three, two,
one two five eight seven four heading up to Woodville. Michael,
how are you today?

Speaker 11 (39:33):
I'm just right. How about you?

Speaker 20 (39:34):
See?

Speaker 7 (39:35):
Well I'm doing all right? What can I do for
you today?

Speaker 21 (39:41):
The ready seal? Yeah, I built a a deck around
a blowgramd pool.

Speaker 7 (39:49):
Uh huh.

Speaker 21 (39:50):
And I was selling the lady on standing it was
ready seal. Okay, well, she didn't want a wood color.
And then I called him at and they tell me
that's the only thing they have is woodcutter. See wanted
like this gray or something like that.

Speaker 7 (40:08):
Okay, so the use of that, mike it ready Ready
Seal does not because Ready Seal is a stain and sealer.
But you can use just a paint on it to
do that. They do make not Ready Seal, but other
companies make a deck paint and you can get that
to put on there. Yeah, that's well I have yep.

Speaker 21 (40:31):
You know, anybody else would have wanted the wood cutlors.

Speaker 7 (40:35):
Yeah, but you got to keep her happy. That's what

Speaker 12 (44:13):
Hey?

Speaker 8 (44:14):
Jim?

Speaker 18 (44:14):
I got a couple of questions. The first one.

Speaker 4 (44:17):
Is I want to put take up my old laminate
flooring and put in new. The stuff that I have
is just real cheap stuff. And it started coming up
to his glue down. The new stuff I'm buying is
that lifestyle or life whatever it.

Speaker 18 (44:35):
Is, it's fssed up and I think it walcks together,
doesn't it? Or just flue down?

Speaker 7 (44:42):
Well, they got they they make different products, but a
lot of them walk together.

Speaker 4 (44:45):
Now my issue is they came out to do a
measurement and they say I've got a I think a
five eighths hump in my floor and they're.

Speaker 18 (44:59):
Not gonna the installers are not going to do the
job unless I get that floor level Number one? What
do you think will cause that Number two? What would
I do to get it leveled?

Speaker 12 (45:18):
So?

Speaker 7 (45:19):
Is it a concrete or is it block and base?

Speaker 4 (45:22):
Oh?

Speaker 18 (45:23):
I'm sorry, it's on My house is in Galvezon.

Speaker 4 (45:26):
It's up on stilts. Okay, just a plywood floor underneath
the laminate.

Speaker 7 (45:31):
It can be five to eight inch off from the
day it was built. Normally they're going to put floor
leveler in to take care of that.

Speaker 18 (45:40):
Floor level or being.

Speaker 7 (45:43):
The masonry product that they would put down to offset
the elevation changes. I got it. That's the end of
this hour. I'm gonna put you on hold and I

that's all available free of charge at thipro dot com. Now,

(49:23):
if you got a question, time to pick up the phone,
give me a call seven one three two one two
five eight seven four. When we left at the end
of the last hour, we were talking with Richard out of Galveston,
and Richard has one of the houses up on the
stilts and the flooring company is on you. It's five
eighths of an inch out a level and therefore they

(49:45):
won't put the floors in.

Speaker 11 (49:49):
Correct.

Speaker 7 (49:50):
That is correct, and they're not offering to do the
floor leveling.

Speaker 4 (49:54):
No, they just said you don't with that variance. We
don't mess with them. You'll have to you will have
to get to take care of that and then we'll
do the installation.

Speaker 7 (50:05):
Get another floor, come installer.

Speaker 4 (50:08):
I think so, okah, I'll do that.

Speaker 7 (50:12):
Yeah, it's very normal to have to deal with something,
even a concrete slab, it's not level when it's poured.
They have to put floor leveler down. Five eighths is
not that far off.

Speaker 4 (50:23):
Okay, all right, I think that was my intention is
to call another installer and get about there. Yay, next
if you have time.

Speaker 7 (50:32):
I got one halftime, you go ahead, Richard.

Speaker 4 (50:35):
Okay, this house was built in eighty five and underneath
was not insulated. Okay, the garage, the garage is enclosed,
but it's not insulated the walls or anything there. Right, anyway,
I want to insulate underneath. Would you recommend a spray

(50:58):
or because you know it's gonna sag down there's nothing
to hold it right, or with a lot of work,
somebody could you know, put in a you know, an
insulation and staple again, but it'd be be a lot.

Speaker 2 (51:16):
Of work to do that.

Speaker 7 (51:18):
And why do you want.

Speaker 4 (51:21):
My house is just cold in the winter and uh
hot in the summer. My utility bills.

Speaker 7 (51:29):
You can you can put some spray foam insulation under
there if you want. It's not going to make much
of a difference on your heating cooling bill. Ah. Interesting, interesting,
you know, if you tell me that, well, the floor
is cold or hot and you want to change that.

(51:51):
It will make a little bit of a difference on that,
but as far as your utility bill, it probably won't
do squat.

Speaker 12 (51:58):
Okay, your walls.

Speaker 7 (51:59):
And your attic are the ones that make a big
difference on your energy bill.

Speaker 4 (52:06):
That's interesting, Yeah, because and I don't notice the floor
is being haunted cold. You know, just the house commissioner.

Speaker 11 (52:14):
And you can run a lot.

Speaker 7 (52:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (52:17):
I don't think the whole house is very well insulated.

Speaker 7 (52:20):
And that's probably the bigger problem. So you could talk
with USA Insulation as far as the walls are concerned,
and or check your attic insulation first, because if the
house was built in eighty five and it had blown
in insulation, it's probably settled a lot since then, and
you've gone from fifteen sixteen inches down to probably five

(52:44):
And by adding insulation you would get you'd recoup that
money on the on the underneath there you wouldn't. But
don't don't put fiberglass underneath. And if you do decide
to do it, do the closed cell spray foam only.

Speaker 4 (53:00):
Okay, closed sell yep, good advice.

Speaker 20 (53:05):
All right, do you have a Merry Christmas you too, sir,
and again our number seven one three two one two
five eight seven four Corbyn down in League City.

Speaker 7 (53:20):
How can I help you?

Speaker 2 (53:24):
Yes, sir, I'm looking for an exterior door jam for
an eight foot door. Everything I can find is only
is for like a six foot eight door.

Speaker 7 (53:36):
Yeah, yeah, I'm you got the door already or you
just replace the one that's.

Speaker 23 (53:49):
Existing, replacing it existing?

Speaker 7 (53:52):
Okay, you would end up at a lumber yard. You're
not going to find it at the box stores, uh
loads and home depot. They're going to sell you standard size.
That's it. But like mcaulay lumber would probably have it.
If they don't give the folks at Southern Front Doors

(54:17):
a call, they would be able to tell you and
they may be able to sell it to you even.

Speaker 23 (54:23):
Okay, but do you know if it would already come
with the weather stripping installed.

Speaker 7 (54:29):
Well, that's options that most of them have that you
can get it with or without.

Speaker 23 (54:35):
Okay, Okay, I'll give mccaulay's a call, ok do. Yeah,
Marry Christmas you too, boy.

Speaker 7 (54:46):
And again seven one three two one two five eight
seven four. Any home improvement question you have pick up phone,
give me a call see what I can do to
take care of it. Here on Texas Home Improvement, Yes,
you know your your box stores like Loew's and Home Depot.
They sell the stuff that they can move quick. When

(55:07):
it comes to something that's a little different or custom,
a lot of times you have trouble finding it or
getting it from them, and that's where you go back
into the regular lumber yards. And I love regular lumber yards.
But yeah, McCauley Lumber can handle it. It wouldn't surprise me.
McCoy's probably has it. Eighty four Lumber would have it.

(55:33):
In fact, coming out of League City there is some
McCoys down in that direction, and on Highway thirty five
there is a eighty four Lumber, but you're getting all
the way up by NASA by Ellington Field before you
get to it. But nonetheless, I think that would be
closer than McAuley Lumber, and they all of them would

(55:55):
probably have it. So again, if you've got a question
seven one three, two one two five eight seven four,
that's seven one three two one two five eight seven four.
So got an email from a lady and she only
gave her last name, So I'm not gonna say it

(56:18):
out of Cyprus about a dryer vent. She says, clean
lint from dryer vent. And you know this, this is
one of the things I do every now and then
get on my soapbox about dryer vent. Hoses and pipes
and everything need to be cleaned out, typically at least

(56:38):
once a year, at least. Unlike your air conditioning system,
the air that goes through that vent is typically not filtered. Yes,
there's a screen that captures some of the stuff, but
it's not filtered air, and so it does get a
lot of lint that goes through. It builds up on
those sides, and a lot of house fires are caused

(57:01):
by the lint that builds up in those tubes and
flex hoses and all that stuff, and they do tend
to catch fire. So yes, they need to be periodically cleaned.
If your dryer is by the outside wall, usually it's
fairly easy. You just pull the driver dryer out and
you can clean, take the hose off the back and

(57:22):
clean it yourself. If it goes up through the attic
and out or something like that, or you know, a
distance along the wall. Any company that does vent cleaning
can also do the dryer line. The dryer vent. Now,
I will tell you when you call one of these
companies who does ac vents to do your dryer vent,

(57:47):
they're going to try to sell you to do the
ac vent at the same time. Again, most of us
don't need our ac vents cleaned unless there's you go
take the vent off and reach up in there and
there's a lot of stuff. There's not a reason to
clean it. But the dryer vent needs to be cleaned

(58:07):
on a regular basis. You can also if you are
a do it yourself or you can go to the
box stores and they have dryer vent cleaning kits that
you can pull through there. Cleans it out very quick
and easily.

Speaker 8 (58:23):
Uh.

Marry a welcome back to Texas Home Improvement seven one
three two one two five eight seven four. We're gonna
head the Richmond and Joelis's chim How can I help you.

Speaker 2 (01:03:09):
Hi, Jim, I appreciate you taking my call. Uh I
the felling of the trap of getting you know, one
of the forty nine dollars tune up specials, you know,
prior to the winter season. And you know, they found
absolutely nothing wrong with my my heating unit. I have

(01:03:34):
a gas furnace, and but they it was dire, doom
and gloom for my fifteen year old AC unit.

Speaker 7 (01:03:44):
You know, oh my god, this is just so old,
it is worn out. If you don't have a new
one before spring, you're not gonna have cool this year exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
And you know he took pictures and brought him down
and yes, the you know, the oeparator coil was dirty,
and you know, I asked him, I said, well, do
y'all clean the coils or well, you know during this
forty nine dollars special, we don't do anything like that.

(01:04:13):
But you know, I needed a whole new unit inside
and out for thirty two thousand dollars.

Speaker 10 (01:04:22):
Holy cow.

Speaker 2 (01:04:25):
I'm like, okay, thank you very much. And I decided
I would never contact them again. But yes, my coil.
Does you know the coil up in the attic. It
needs some cleaning and some maintenance. Is that an issue
for them to hire somebody to come in and clean that?

Speaker 5 (01:04:51):
No?

Speaker 7 (01:04:53):
Okay, no, you should be able to hire look Well
conditioning company and read we do that all the time.
So the answer is no, you can definitely get that time.

Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
And he said that it would just make it worse
if we had the coal cleane. And yeah, I have
another place in the Pantandle of Florida, and I know
I've had our coal clean there a number of times.
And yes, our climates are similar, you know, not the same.

Speaker 5 (01:05:25):
But.

Speaker 7 (01:05:28):
Yeah, no there it's done all the time. I mean,
And the only reason the coil typically needs to be
cleaned is you got somewhere where your intake is not
going through the filters. It's it's leaking in somewhere. And
it's very common because they typically run up a track
in the wall and the wall wasn't sealed and so

(01:05:48):
it starts pulling dust in no big deal. The coil
gets cleaned and you move on.

Speaker 2 (01:05:56):
Okay, Well I'm feeling a little bit about that, so
thank you.

Speaker 7 (01:06:02):
And I will tell you upfront the if you talk
to the AC manufacturers, they will tell you they typically
build an AC unit to last fifteen years, so it's
not unusual to get fifteen years out of it. There's
a lot of companies because like I said, I own
an AC company. I go to the different training classes

(01:06:23):
and stuff, and they're taught that look, when it hits
ten years old or twelve, whatever year you're comfortable with,
start telling them that this is an older system, you've
got a likelihood it's going to break down. Let's just
go ahead and replace it. And some of the guys
will start taking that to be oh no, let's just

(01:06:43):
go ahead and give them a price. I'm not to
put any money into that other system.

Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
Well, we've had we you know, our efficiency has been good,
and you know I watch I pay attention to the
amount of electricity we use, sure, because you know as
well as I do that that's the biggest.

Speaker 7 (01:07:07):
Huser of its sixty five percent your electric bill. Yeah,
but you know, and look, I will tell you up front,
if you went from a fifteen year old system. You know,
your fifteen year old system was probably an R ten
or thirteen somewhere in that range. It is probably only

(01:07:30):
operating at our seven or eight. Now you know energy
energy efficiency wise, and if you put in a new one,
is it going to lower your energy bill? Absolutely? But
does it lowered enough to justify the added cost? No,

(01:07:51):
it doesn't offset itself.

Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
Okay, Well, yeah, I appreciate an honest response. And you
know I know that. Uh we we had moved out
to the country and had rented this house for about
six years, and uh, you know we did have you know,

(01:08:16):
ac people come out every couple of years and check it,
and nobody ever said anything until I moved back.

Speaker 10 (01:08:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
Uh, and uh I had broken my leg and it
wasn't feasible for me to be out on nine acres anymore.
So well, Jim, I appreciate your honest response and problem
you have a great show and I listened to you
every weekend.

Speaker 7 (01:08:45):
I appreciate it. And if you need an ac company,
give to West Air Conditioning a call and Joe have
a merry Christmas.

Speaker 2 (01:08:54):
Well, thank you, Fie.

Speaker 7 (01:08:56):
Go back seven two two. I've eight seven four. We'll
be back with more Texas home improvement. You know, Southern
Water Solutions can take care of all your water solution needs.
And let's face it, with the water that's available to
us nowadays, we need some solutions. It may be just

(01:09:19):
a water filtration system. It may be something to capture,
you know, just the dirt that's coming through. It may
may be something like a reverse well reverse osmosis for
the drinking water. I use those all the time. Love that.
But maybe a water softener. And let me tell you,
a water softener really makes a difference on the water.

(01:09:41):
It does. It's not the old slimy feel that you
used to get, but it is a crisp, clean feel
and really can make a difference on your laundry. And
believe it or not, it does make a difference on
how much soap you use. Not that that should matter,
but I'm telling you, Southern Water Solutions can make the
water you know need at your home the way you

(01:10:02):
want it. Eight three two five nine three thirty nine
ninety three. That's eight three two, five nine three thirty
nine ninety three.

Speaker 12 (01:10:17):

Speaker 7 (01:10:50):
Hey, welcome back to Texas Home Improvement. And Brian is
my partner here on the show. He takes care of
all the behind the scenes stuff. I get the privilege
of talking with you on the A and doing all
the fun stuff. But he'll pay for that one. Hey,
you got a home improvement question seven one three two
one two five eight seven four. That's seven one three

(01:11:12):
two one two five eight seven four, And I'll see
what I can do to help you out here on
Texas Home Improvement. Hey, do you want to remind you
I mentioned it in the last hour that the Pasadena
Livestock Showing Rodeo is having a NFR which is the
National Final Rodeos watch party and casino night, so you

(01:11:34):
can do the casino night comes in because the National
Finals Rodeo is in Las Vegas. So we'll set up
and there's gonna be a watch party where the doors
will open at six point thirty, tables will open at seven,
and the rodeo itself starts at seven forty five. Will

(01:11:55):
be showing it live. If you want to come on out,
there's tickets available. You can go to Pasadena Rodeo dot
com for more information on it. That's Pasadena Rodeo dot com,
or just call the office for the Pasadena Rodeo. It's
on their website Pasadena Rodeo dot com. It will be
a fun night. Yes, I will be out there if

(01:12:17):
you want to come on by. Uh, I've got an
event on my nieces graduating college that day, so we'll
have the graduation and then a dinner and after that
I'll be out there at the watch party. So look
forward to seeing you out there. Got a question seven

(01:12:37):
one three, two one two five eight seven four, And
I'll see what I can do to help you out
here on Texas home improvement, let's see. Charles sends in
an email about radiant barrier? Is it worth the expense
building a new home in South Alabama twenty five hundred

(01:12:58):
square foot us started framing. Is radiant barrier worth the expense?
What is a reasonable cost? It is, without question worth
the expense. Now I only use one radium barrier product,
and that's the energy Q radium barrier. And the reason
I like that one over all the other radium barriers.

(01:13:21):
Most radium barriers are single ply, and that means it
has to have a dead air space. The energy Q
is a multi layer system with a thermal brake in
the middle, so it can be sandwiched in between products.
So any place I work on, if I have the opportunity,
I put I put it in. When we redid the

(01:13:42):
little house up at the Deer Lease, we were putting
new siding on new sheet rock the whole nine yards.
When we took the siding off, we put ply with up.
I put the energy Q radium barrier on and then
our siding, and it has made one heck of a
difference in the energy bills, I mean to tell you.

(01:14:06):
And there were some new builders who in the North
Texas area were using energy Q behind the sheet rock.
Again it made a huge difference on the energy bills
of those houses. So yes, it is well worth the
money because the radium barrier is not that expensive. And

(01:14:27):
you've got to keep in mind when you put a
radium barrier in, it's there for the life of the home,
and so you are always saving on your energy bill.
But even the initial cost is just not that much
and typically you will save enough to pay for it

(01:14:51):
in months, not years. So yes, if you want to
check out the radium barrier, I use it's energy the
letter Q. Go to thchipro dot com and there is
a link there ENERGYQ radium barrier. Loved the stuff and
hopefully yes, that'll help you out. But in an attic,

(01:15:14):
you just lay it on the attic floor and it
keeps the dead airs, it keeps the heat that gets
in the attic from getting into the living place. But
I will tell you I had a guy one time,
and this is probably twenty years ago, fifteen twenty years ago,
he built a house in West Texas and he would

(01:15:35):
listen to the show, and so he didn't put any
insulation in the house. He did two layers of radium barrier.
He did one on the outside of his walls, one
on the inside, did it on the roof deck and
on the attic floor, and he had a I can't remember,

(01:15:55):
I think his house was twenty one hundred square feet
and he was running an eighty dollars electric bill, zero insulation.
Now the rest of us can't built that way because
if you finance a house, when you build it, you
got to have insulation, and if you're within city limits,

(01:16:15):
building codes required. He was building out in boondocks in
West Texas where he didn't have to meet any building codes,
or wasn't bothering to meet any building codes because he
was paying cash to build it, and so he was
able to get away with that. But he was just
amazed at the energy efficiency of it. And I'm telling you,

(01:16:40):
I've got the same experience with my house. You know,
I got two layers of radiant barrier in my attic,
one on the deck board of my roof and the
other the energy Q laying on the attic floor, and
my insulation in my attic is three inches at best
some areas I have on and my energy bill on

(01:17:02):
a three thousand square foot house is well under two
hundred dollars. Now that I had the USA insulation, do
the foam insulation on my walls. So all these different
things can make a huge difference on your energy bills,
all right. Seven one three two one two five eight

(01:17:24):
seven four. Sunburst shutters are gorgeous. I've got them in
my house, and I'm telling you, if you are looking
for a way to transform the look of any room
in your house, take a look at sunburst shutters. Uh.
They can be open, they can be closed. When they're closed,
it creates a dead air space that helps with energy
efficiency as well. When they're open, you're letting all the

(01:17:45):
sunlight through. And I tell you how gorgeous they are.
I had some put in my place in Pasadena, and
even neighbors were asking, now, what are those shutters? I
really like those. I want some of those sunburst shutters.
Seven one three four six' two eighty eight. Hundred that's
seven one three four six two eighty eight. Hundred give

(01:18:09):
them a.

Dutton, ah welcome back To Texas Home, improvement your total

this Is. Jim what CAN i do for?

Speaker 11 (01:21:56):
You?

Speaker 22 (01:21:58):
Yes two. Questions we've got a night about a sixty.

Speaker 2 (01:22:01):
Year old brick.

Speaker 22 (01:22:01):
Home on peer and beam wooden, floor two to three
foot crawl, space never been insulated, underneath and it's cold
when it's winter. Time BUT i want to, say get
your ideas on insulating the. Floor also about ten inches
eight to ten inches of insulation in the ceiling and
the walls are insulated sixty years. Ago, okay but would

(01:22:26):
the radiant barrier still be applicable on top of the, Ceiling.

Speaker 7 (01:22:32):
Yes without. QUESTION i mean that's the way my house. Is,
Like LIKE i, say my house was built in seventy
three and that's WHAT i. Have as far as the crawl,
SPACE i try to discourage people as much as possible
from insulating under there because if you put, fiberglass you
put any type of, insulation it can hold moisture against

(01:22:57):
the wood and cause it. Rot Uh, so the only
thing if somebody really insists that they want insulation there
THAT i recommend is a spray foam closed cell. Only
the open cell will hold.

Speaker 22 (01:23:16):
Moisture that's why we were.

Speaker 7 (01:23:18):
Asking, yeah, yeah so closed cell phone, only and, truthfully
it's really not going to help your energy bill hardly at. All,
if if, any it will if you're if your toes
are cold when you're walking on the, floor, yes it
may make a little bit of a difference with THAT

(01:23:39):
i personally and the FACT i got them on, TODAY
i wear fuzzy slippers to keep. It now it's only
fuzzy on the inside to keep my toes. Warm but
as far as keeping the rest of the house warm or,
cool it doesn't really make any big.

Speaker 22 (01:23:55):
Difference, okay, Okay that's Why i'm Asking oakie, doak thank.

Speaker 7 (01:24:02):
You you bet take. Care and you KNOW i will
say that my house built in seventy, THREE i had
my walls. Reinsulated your house is sixty years. Old you're
going to HAVE r eleven in the. Walls that will
make a much bigger difference in trying to put uh

(01:24:24):
insulation in the cross space underneath. There and again for anybody,
listening do not let somebody put fiberglass. There it holds,
moisture it does cause wood. Rot some of the biggest
cross space jobs That i've had to do was replacing
wood that was just totally rotted out by fiberglass. Insulation

(01:24:49):
all right again seven one, three, two one two five
eight seven Four anna In. Houston how CAN i help?

Speaker 24 (01:24:57):
You thank you for taking my. CALL i have a
sixty five year old house and don't have much in
soot insulation, left if you can. IMAGINE i just wondered
if you can give any it's a fifteen hundred almost
sixteen hundred square, feet can you give me any kind

(01:25:20):
of estimate on how much the the barium radium, stuff, well,
well the radium barrier to put in my, attic.

Speaker 7 (01:25:32):
You, know to if you're going to have somebody put it,
in you're probably looking at something around And i'm just
throwing a raw number two dollars a square foot for
the attic. Space if you do it, yourself you're probably
only looking at something around a buck a square.

Speaker 24 (01:25:55):
Foot, yeah half, that half the, yeah, okay so it's
it's really not that expensive at. All so is that
including the to put it, in to buy, it and
for somebody to put it?

Speaker 11 (01:26:12):
In?

Speaker 24 (01:26:13):
Yep, Wow, okay because my air my electric bill is
way too high in the.

Speaker 3 (01:26:21):
Summertime how high is it?

Speaker 7 (01:26:22):
Running?

Speaker 24 (01:26:25):
Uh two, Hundred BUT i mean that's twice what it
used to. RUN i, MEAN i know electricity's gone, up
but still that's a lot more than it used to.
Be you, Know i've been here forty, seven forty eight.

Speaker 7 (01:26:40):
Years, yeah, well, yeah you can't compare back. Then but
for two, dollars you're not running a super high energy.
Bill BUT i bet you at that you're not keeping
your thermostat high, either are.

Speaker 24 (01:26:58):
You, No i've got it. On, yeah it's pretty much
seventy eight and Eighty, yeah during the day and then
a little less at night and, so.

Speaker 7 (01:27:09):
And that's what you have to look at when you're
looking at your savings on a radium barrier or, insulation
because the higher you keep the, thermostat the less pay,
payback the longer it's going to take to pay. Back
for somebody who keeps it down at say seventy, one
it's going to rapidly pay. Back keeping it at seventy

(01:27:31):
eight to eighty is going to be a very slow,
payback but it's still going to pay. Back and what
happens to a lot of people is they'll put it
in and then they find, themselves, well my energy, bills you,
know it's doing, better so they'll raise it or lower

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
