It was excellent. Went out to UH Pasadena and a
group of us from the rodeo over there and some
of them do some cookings and we had hamburgers and
hot dogs and then watched the fireworks at night and oh,
probably something around midnight. I got home and went to bed.

Oh that's awesome, that's awesome. Yeah, we had some fun
too over here, just to some barbecue and you know,
fire roaps. Of course, what Fourth of July is about
fire roast?

Right? It is? It is? Well, let's let's talk about

thing is first to answer the first question can be afforded. Now,
if you look at it as a as something that
you're purchasing or something as a secondary top, then yeah,
even spending ten dollars on something is going to it's

going to feel like you're spending a lot. But when
you think of it as terms of investments, because whatever
you're putting in, you're going to get the return in
the in the long run, with the Lake City Bill
going down, your your ac staying in tact for a
longer period of time, not worrying about doing other improvements

or anything like that around the house because of your
humidity and all that, because we are in we are
in Houston, and you know, our biggest concern is humidity
when it comes down to besides the heat of course.
So that actually all this combined together helps you a
lot in the long run, especially if you're you know,
because usually even if if even if you're buying a
house for like three to four years and you're pining

on moving. But those three to four years times that
three sixty five days a year, you're sending that many
days in a house where you're not comfortable.

Yep. And it really does really get that and it
does make a big difference on the electric bill as well,
you know, by making it more energy efficient that way.

Speaker 7 (05:35):
Definitely. And then the second thing about the which called
it a major remodel, well, we have a solution for
that as well, Like we don't have to tear down
all the walls. We don't have to worry about like
taking like the walls down to is frey it or
anything like that. We have a solution with the injection film.
And Jim, you've gotten it done on in your house too,
and you're you're our best best person to you know,

tell tell other people, like how good it works? I
mean it not only like it reduces the noise from outside.
Is that's what your problem is? Like you know, three
in the morning, dogs are barking and it's all your dogs,
as your neighbor's dogs are barking. Right, it's gonna dampen
the noise. Secondly, the air, like the cold and hot air,

like you know, transferring through the walls and whatnot. That's
going to prevent from that happening as well. So there
has a lot of benefits and the best one I
always talked about is it's a green product, like it
is environment friendly.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
You know when I had my house done, well, my
parents had a house done years ago first, and then
I had mine done I guess two years ago now,
And it's huge difference. I mean you can feel it
as each room is being done, how it becomes more

comfortable in that room, not just temperature wise, but like
you're saying, the sound from outside is a huge difference
as well. And you don't feel the air coming in anymore.
And I can only use my house as the best
example for me because I do the radio show from

home and in the winter, you know, in the summer
months it's your air conditioning going out through all these
air gaps and stuff. Well, in the winter months, you
feel that cold air coming in. And when I had
my house done, I didn't have that issue anymore. And
that's where your energy savings comes in. And like I said,

(07:43):
I said when we started, I mean, this is a
great product to do to any home. The other thing
is a lot of times people think that, well, I've
got a newer home, I don't need that product. Well,
if you got five glass in your walls, the best
you've got is our thirteen if it's a two by

(08:05):
four wall. And this can make a huge difference on
a two by four wall because it raises that our
value so much.

Speaker 7 (08:15):
And that is that is true, like especially with the
new construction, Like they're not using those two by six
and the two by eights to build these houses. They're
using two by the barely even two by three two
by fours anymore. Right, But when they're putting the R
like the battens in there. That's what most of the
builders are doing here because that that satisfies the builder's code.

(08:36):
Builders only building a house so that it can be
expected and be able to close, and they make money.
But when it comes down to like you're you're you're
making the house energy efficient, it comes down to like
just the R value of our product. Every inch that
we're putting in in the walls, like for instance, two

(08:57):
by four so it's four four inches deep, you're looking
at five point one our value per inch, So which
if you do the map, is R twenty compared to
our thirteen.

Speaker 5 (09:12):
Yeah, so much different.

Speaker 7 (09:13):
That is. That is a huge difference when it comes
down to our value.

Speaker 5 (09:18):
And when you couple thats uh, when I started the show,
I gotta recallive w when I started to show because
my voice was dry already. But uh, yeah, it's just
the weather that R twenty versus the R thirteen and
you're sealing up the air gaps. That's just huge.

Speaker 7 (09:43):
And exactly and just just because a product comes when
it when it she shoots out the what we call
the gun, when it shoots out the injection like the
it's the injection apparatus. We call it the gun to
keep it simple. When we shoot it out of the gun,
it comes out as a shape cream like a really
like a semi solid kind of product. Right, it comes in,

(10:05):
it goes through the process. All the holes, all the gaps,
whatever you have in the in the walls, it will
it will go in and close them up. I'm going
to solidifize you don't have those gaps to allow air
to flow through it. So that's that's where our product
is doing so good.

You know.

And I haven't talked about this on the show in
quite some time, but when I did my house. I
took some of my sheet rock off and I put
plexiglass up so I could see what was happening. And
you could see as the foam was expanding, how it
was encapsulating the existing insulation in the walls and ceiling,

all the gaps and stuff. And I left that plexiglass
on that wall because it was in the laundry room
behind the door. I left it in there for well
over a year until my wife told me I couldn't
do that anymore, give me some sheet rock. But you know,

(11:05):
I was able to follow the product and see how
it was performing and how it held up and stuff.
I love this stuff, and it's non destructive. I mean
a little hole through the brick veneer, through the mortar
lines in the brick veneer. It's so easyly patched and

(11:25):
doesn't show it. Just to me, this is a no
brainer for anybody who wants to make their house more
energy efficient, exactly.

Speaker 7 (11:37):
And not only that, if you're doing it's not only
the brick veneers, is also the hardy as well. If
you have the hardy plants around the house, we still
do the same. Like a small little hole about three
five eight of an inch. We drilled the hole, we've
patched it up. We matched the color given about a
week or two. When the sun like hits it, base
it and looking at cures it, you don't even see that.

You don't even see the hole anymore.

Yeah, and well, no walls are.

Last week or two weeks ago, when I was gone,
I made a trip to Alaska, went up to Seattle,
got on a Royal Caribbean ship and we went up
to let's see, we hit Sica, we hit Juno, we
hit began with a K, can't remember how to pronounce

it right, and then Victoria, British Columbia. On the way back,
beautiful scenery. We went up to one of the glaciers
and it was neat. The ship went up through this
channel to where one of the glaciers was. They spun
the ship around twice so you could see it good

(16:51):
from the ship, and it was really like we were
up in this river thing. But then after that we
were able to get off of the big ship and
we got onto a smaller ship. We went across a
gangway plank to the small boat which only held like
one hundred and twenty five people, and we were able

(17:14):
to go up very close then to the glacier. And
see things up close, and got to see the humpback
whales and the Orca whales, and the sea lions and
just regular seals and all the different the bald eagles
and all that stuff. Beautiful trip. And if you like

to cruise, I definitely recommend you take a look at
the Alaska Cruise. If you don't like to cruise, I
still would recommend you take a look at the Alaska Cruise.
Now I didn't I never thought i'd be a cruise person.

And it was only a few years ago that I
went on the first cruise, and now I've been on
I think four of them, and I thoroughly enjoy it
because I get away from everything and just get to
sit and relax and I watch people. I'm a people
watcher and so I really enjoy that. But the scenery
that you get to see in Alaska is unbelievable. The weather,

even tho all the captains on the different boats we
went on and did a seaplane trip and all this stuff,
none of them could believe the weather we were having.
The highest temperature I had on that trip was fifty
seven degrees. The low was fifty I mean, you couldn't
ask for better weather than we had, and the animals

(18:47):
we got to see with that weather. The tour guy
that we went on on the smaller boat had never
he was saying, I just I've never seen that many
different batches of Orca whales on one trip. It was, just,
like I said, an unbelievable trip. Had a great time,

and now I'm looking forward to my next trip, which
actually I'll be leaving tomorrow with my RV to head
to Wisconsin to Oshkosh for the Air Venture Air Show,
something I go to for the last seven years every
year and have a great time up there and talking

(19:33):
about airplanes and such. You know, if you followed, if
you've listened to the show any of my time, you've
known for that. I've been working on getting my pilot's
license for many years and finally got serious about it.
I bought an airplane last year, and Thursday of this week,

(19:54):
day before yesterday, I had my first solo and that
was very fun and thoroughly enjoyed that and looking forward
to finishing up and getting my check ride done. But
uh so, it's been the last couple of weeks a
very busy time taking care of stuff. So anyways, I'm

on doing my solo this week, I've been out. I

started with a new training center, Modern Pilot out in Arcola.
You know that's down by Alvin Manville direction, and uh
serious is the type of plane that I have. But
I've got an instructor, Ryan, who I've had several instructors

(23:59):
over the years, and yeah, get along with him. But
Ryan has been a really good instructor on making sure
to follow the rules and do things safely, and uh,
he's really made a difference for me to move along

and finally get this done. So I just want to
give him a shout out and a modern pilot down
there for taking care of things. Anyways, you got a
question home improvement question seven one three two one two

So I got an email from Carolyn out of Missouri
City and she says, adding right side wood fence to
an existing backwood fence? Do I need a permit to
build the fence? In most cities, Yes, you do need

(25:03):
a permit for putting up a fence. Her next question
is it necessary to have the property surveyed? Or are
the longitude latitude measurements from the county appraisal district sufficient
to correct for correct placement. Typically they're gonna require you

(25:24):
to bring in a copy of a survey. Doesn't mean
you got to buy a new survey, but like when
you bought the house, there's typically a survey in the
closing papers so that you can pull that out and
use it Now, one of the things that a lot
of times is a good idea to do is find

(25:46):
the corner post. At What I mean by that is
there's a typically on the corners of properties, a metal post,
pin rod, whatever you want to call it, that's in
the ground, and that's how you can verify that you
truly have the right property line. And if you can
show that and show that on the survey, you're golden

(26:09):
then for your permits. And then number three, what rights
do the neighbors have to the shared fence if I'm
paying full cost for the fence between us, Well, I'm
not sure what rights you're thinking about, but it's going to,
you know, give a fence on their property. And if,

(26:30):
quite frankly, if they want to hang something on the fence,
I don't know that you can really say no unless
you move it over on your property a little bit. Typically,
a fence between two properties is shared, and I'm thinking

(26:51):
of a wooden fence right now, not a chain link.
But you know, a lot of times neighbors do share
in the cost of putting up a wooden fence like that,
so it may not hurt to ask them unless they
don't have any fences and they don't really want fences.

I've got a roof on my house that was redone
after Hurricane Ike and it is, uh, it's looking like
it needs some attention in the near future. I was
contemplating either doing a fortified asphalt shingle roof or a
metal roof to try and or the other get some

(27:49):
get a break on my homeotors insurance, And I was
wondering your thoughts on going either way and would kind
of route you would recommend.

Speaker 5 (27:59):
Right now, and especially in our area here, I would
tell you go with a fortified roof that handles the
windloads much better if you want to go with a
metal roof. Architecturally, they look beautiful. In fact, I'm doing
some work on my house and I'm going to use

(28:20):
some metal roof for accent pieces. But I have a
class for hail resistant shingle on my house for durability,
and I did get an insurance discount for that. But
it'll depend on how close you are to the coast,
what kind of roof is going to get you the
best discount. But I can tell you here in the

(28:43):
Houston area that a fortified roof right now would get
you a pretty darn good discount, typically on your insurance.

Speaker 9 (28:54):
Okay, yeah, because I've been looking at shingles and now
they're you know, you get some shingles that are for
even one hundred and thirty miles an hour. You know
where I'm at on the north side of Houston. We're
gonna have to have one heck of a storm for
it to still be one hundred and thirty miles an
hour on the north side of Houston. But somebody was
telling me that, you know, if I'm gonna spend that

(29:15):
kind of money to get a fortified roof, I might
even look at a metal roof. So I hadn't I
hadn't done my research on that just yet.

Speaker 5 (29:23):
Well, and you can put a fortified roof on with
a metal roof, because what the fortified roof does is
your plywood and stuff is it has more fasteners on
it to hold it in place. The seams in everything
are sealed with a special type of sealant tape and stuff.
The felt paper that goes down is adherent with more

(29:45):
fasteners than normal. And the reason for that if your
shingles blow off or your metal roof blows off, then
they want the plywood to be able to still keep
water out of your home. Because typically it's not the
cost of the roof that's the big issue. It's all
the damage that the water does leaking through that causes

(30:07):
so many issues. And honestly, take a look at the
fortified roof and there are some There is a special
grant program going right now on fortified roofs. If your
income matches and your your house size and all this

(30:36):
stuff fits into the program. There's up to seventeen five
dollars from the government on a grant to go towards
that roof. Now, you've got to meet the requirements and stuff.
But talk to the folks over at Guardian Roof Systems
and they could probably help you out with that.

add ask about a whole house surge protector, Which brand
do you recommend? Thinks, Well, I'll be honest with you.
I don't have a brand on the surge protectors that
I say, yeah, this is the one to get. I
do have a whole house surge protector on my home. Actually,
because of the way my electric system is, I have

two of them on my home, and I will tell
you the reason I do is I our power kind
of like I was talking about with water a little
while ago, our power system is not getting any better.
And when we get these surges that come through in
the power system, it starts affecting all the different computer

(35:40):
stuff that we have in our homes. You know, the
power grid was not originally built to be able to
handle what computers do, and they need a nice, clean,
steady power supply. And when I had a hit one
time with a spike, it short circuited the board on

(36:03):
my air conditioning system. And trust me, I don't like
going without my air conditioning system. So and now I
don't worry about it. I've I've had power. Like I said,
search protectors put on and and that keeps out from happening,
But it can tear up the air conditioner, the refrigerator, obviously,
your computers, all these different things, and search protectors just

aren't that expensive. But I would tell you call right

They can go over you know how the search protector

Thank you. I've got a kind of a courtyard that
is created by my garage and then my living room
and my and my bedroom. So I say you shaped courtyard,
and I put a roof on it by just screwing

some heavy duty roof jacks right into the roof through
the shingles, you know, let the one shingle overlap it
a little bit, and then I just put all kinds
of I can't remember the type of of sealant I
used around them. There's just three of them and a
real light gauge steel and a metal roof. It looks
really really nice. Put gutters all the way around. It

(39:19):
works like a champ and the roof is still in
good shape. I'm at some point in time I have
to call a roof for getting the new roof. I'm wondering,
how how do they go about putting a new roof
when you've got three you know, big metal jacks screwed
into the roof.

They're going to take them off?

Wow, that'd be interesting.

Speaker 5 (39:43):
Yeah, if there in order to put I say that
depending on the size of it. A lot of times
what they'll do is take it off. Some shingles will
go on the bottom, the other shingles to the top
so that it will create drainage over it instead of
it being screwed just to the top of the shingle,

(40:08):
kind of like you know how the pipes stick up
through a roof with a roof jack. Yep, that's what
they would do with it. So they don't necessarily it off.
They don't necessarily they don't have to take it off.
But what they might do is like, and it all
depends again how big the plate is at the bottom.

But it's only about six inches square.

Okay, and that big bolts on it.

to be real honest with you. Yeah, I just did
those commercials and stuff and totally forgot what we were

He's got some roof, Jackson, my roof. Oh that's right,
some three by three three by three square tube and
then some two by two square tube and then just
some art panels on top. So it's not a lot
of weight, but it's all screwed together and everything is
leaning on those three jacks.

Speaker 5 (44:57):
Yeah. And what they'll end up doing is the more
likely depending on how those bolts are. Uh, they'll they'll
pick it up, they'll unbolt it, just jack it up
a little bit so they can slide the shingles out
from under the you know, the existing shingles that are there. Okay, Andy,
they may or may not slide new shingles under it.

(45:17):
What they'll more likely do is put it back down,
shingle the roof, and then come around that from the top,
so the shingles will actually now go over that plate
instead of and that'll water seal it better.

Speaker 7 (45:36):
Yeah, no, that makes sense.

Speaker 6 (45:37):
I guess I was trying to figure out how they're
going to jack it up. But I guess there's all
kinds of ways to do that.

Speaker 5 (45:42):
Yeah, not picking it up won't be any any big
issue because they're not having to pick it up two
three inches. They just got to pick it up, you know,
an eighth of an inch or a quarter inch to
slide the shingles out right, Okay, okay.

Speaker 6 (45:56):
Okay, well good then I probably won't be too big
of a little bit more than a regular room. A
little little difficulty, but not too much. I wouldn't think.

Nope, you'll be fine.

I'll talk just a minute about Uh. I was talking
about doing my solo flight this week, and on Thursday,
I did the solo flight. And then as I kind
of come back in and my instructor says, now, understand,

when I go to fly, I'm wearing my regular clothes.
So I've got typically either blue jeans or some slacks
on a lot of times, some slacks, a white button
down due West shirt you know, usually long sleeves even
even though it's hot out and stuff because I typically

wear long sleeves. And he says, oh, I should have
should have given you heads up about wearing an older
shirts because we normally cut the back out of the shirt.
And I say, yeah, no, we're not doing that. I
got we got things to do today because as soon
as I finished the solo, then we got in the
plane and took a trip down to Corpus Christie. I

had some business to do down there, and then flew
back from Corpus. And one of the funny things about
all my time going through as a student pilot, I'd
get going, i'd get injured, or something would happen where
I'd have to stop and I'd start over. But because

(51:47):
I make such long trips all the time and I'm
flying the plane, I have a ton of hours. This
week I crossed where I have one hundred and fifty
hours as a student pie And it like I say,
I get in the plane, I fly it to Corpus,
I fly it to Dallas. My instructors are with me,

but it really racks up the hours rapidly. Uh, but
I haven't finished everything, but I'm getting there. I've got
to do my nighttime landings and nighttime flying, and even
though I've done so much cross country, I've got to
do my cross countries and do them solo. Uh, and

my check rides and stuff, and then then I can
be finished. But anyways, I'll jump into an email question here,

four Another fencing question I had one earlier. This is
from Kevin. He says, Hi, Jim, I'll listen to your

radio show all the time, and have you used some
of your references? Been very happy with him? Quick question,
do you have a good reference for reliable fence company?
I have a residential property looking to put up a
nice board on board fence with capping. Not sure who

(53:12):
to trust regards Kevin, Well, look when you are looking
for and I'm going down this road because I have
another email question from somebody else looking for a roofing
contractor in North Carolina, and when you are looking from

(53:33):
scratch for a contractor. The one from North Carolina question
was should I just start with the BBB. Well, I'm
not a huge BBB fan, and the reason I'm not
is they charge companies for what they do and I

(53:57):
got nothing wrong. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. But
a company can have a ton of complaints on them
and still have a great rating with the BBB because
all you have to do is answer that complaint. Now,
I get it they're in a rock and a hard
spot because if you are a small company and you

(54:23):
have just a small number five complaints and you only
do one hundred thousand dollars in business a year, that's
a lot of complaints. Right. If you're a bigger company
you do fifteen million dollars a year and you have
five complaints, that's not as big a deal. Now, typically

(54:48):
the bigger company is probably going to take a little
better care of making sure the complaints are answered than
the small guy because he's busy and he's typically a
one horse operation in that kind of price range. But
I understand how the BBB isn't a rock and a
hard place. But what I don't understand is just because

(55:09):
somebody answers complaints and it doesn't have to be a
contractor any type of business, it still maintains they're a rating.
And it's just to me a little warped the way
that is done. But how would I go about looking

(55:30):
for a contractor and find somebody good. Well, the first
thing is I'm going to look for the contractor themselves,
and I will a lot of times. Look at if
the one in North Carolina is looking for a roof,
this one's looking for a fencing company. Go to the

(55:50):
supply places. There are roofing supply houses, there are fence
supply places. Because if your contractor is picking their material
up at home Depot or Low's or something like that, honestly,
they're not a real contractor. They're a small shop who

(56:14):
really probably can't stand behind anything that they do. You
want a contractor who is a real contractor, has an office,
has the ability to go to the regular materials supply
houses because it's a lot cheaper for them to buy
from the supply house than it is from Loew's or

(56:34):
Home Depot, and it shows legitimacy. Okay, so we narrowed
it down. We're finding a contractor who's at one of
these places. Now you talk to them, find out do
they have an office, do they carry insurance. I'm looking
for general liability, and most of the time workers comp
as well. Some states require workers comp other Texas does not.

(57:00):
So those are the items I'm looking for. Get some references.
I get it, they're only going to give you the
good references. But here's what you're looking for when you
call the references. Uh hey, I'm calling on X y
Z roofing. I'm looking at having them do a job.
I understand they did a job for you. Why, yes,
they did. The roof came out great, wonderful. Did they

(57:25):
show up every day to work on it? Oh? Yeah,
I mean they had to come in late one day
because they had to go finish up Billie's roof. But
you know, other than that, they That's tell me you
got a contractor who is not coordinating very well, and
I would have to start questioning other things on that contract.

(57:47):
Uh So that's that's the kind of questions you asked, because,
like I said, they're they're only going to give you
the good references. It's up to you then to pull
out the bad ones. Obviously, get your quote. Vote the
thing I will caution everybody on whether you're familiar with
the contractors or not, don't hire strictly based on the

(58:13):
dollar amount, because let's face it, the cheapest one is
probably not the best one, and in many cases you
can pay more, but in the long run, have a
cheaper job. And by cheaper I mean less expensive, because
if you don't have to go back and do repairs
on it and things like that, that's saving you money. So, yeah,

(58:37):
this contractor costs you an extra one thousand dollars, but
there was no issues with the job versus the contractor
who did it for one thousand dollars less. But you
had to pay somebody else to come out three times
to repair leaks. Guess what the thousand dollars guy who

(58:59):
was more so if was your cheaper one to hire.
So just my little two cents on looking for contractors,
got a question seven one three two one two five

things that we have changed at The cookoff this year
is we will have live music Both. Sat friday And
saturday evening before all the cook stuff really gets going.

some entertainment out there ahead of the cook team.

that is. Relevant the metal shed is badly corroded all
over the. Outside it sits on cement, blocks has sat

car will. Rust thirty five years is a long. Time
so what you're gonna have to, do, truly if you
want to save it is go ahead and clean it.

Up get some rusting him, paint AND i tell, you
for a shed like, that if a metal, shed go
to an automotive paint supply. Store there you can get
products that you can strip off what's on the shed
as far as, paint sand it down. Smooth then you

can Put they make a liquid for automotive that you
can put on that inhibits the rust from growing back primer.
It paint it just like you would a, car and you're.
Done the longer you let it, go the more likely
it is that it's going to rust all the way.
Through once that, happens throw it away and get another.

One but if you truly want to try to save, this,
one go with the rust, inhibitor and then the paint
on it once you have it painted that. Way if
you use an automotive paint like, that you're actually able

to wash it and wax it and do all that

tell you, is sometimes people, think, Well i'm gonna put
a better paint, on let me get That emron. Paint
emron is a high end, paint looks, gorgeous but it
take it does take some specialty work to apply it

tell you if you are going to try and uh
paint it, yourself, uh just use a regular. Paint it'll

Replacing in the, meantime you should be able to buy
that rain censor so that you don't have to worry

preventers and things like that get checked. Annually it's been
one of those things that's been bypassed for. Years and

a half now it started in the smaller communities and
it's spreading into bigger. Communities they are enforcing that rule
and what's happening is the city will send out, notices
sometimes with the water, bills sometimes just a notice straight

checkification of inspection is really what it, is certificate and
that is required every. Year and if we don't have
it in thirty, days they're shutting water off and they're

Shutting i've had people That i've talked with that they
shut the water down completely to the, property not just
to the sprinkler. System SO i would highly recommend if
you have a sprinkler system that if you're going to
keep it, active that that's some of the stuff that
you would probably go ahead and take care of getting.

Done otherwise you could be looking at some pretty major. Issues,

like to know the name of the window tint that

TINTS i like window. TINTS i. Know used to be
when double pained windows start first we're. Out they were,

claiming don't put window film on a double paned, window you,
know a window that's got two glass, panels because it'll
reflect the heat back and it breaks the. Glass, well
they have found that's not the. Case all the window
tint does is it'll stop heat, transfer much like a

radium barrier. Does and they used to say the same
thing about radium barriers on a. Roof if you have
a radium, barrier it'll avoid the shingles because it's reflecting
the heat. Back that's not what these things. Do they
just block, it they don't reflect it, back and it
builds up into stronger heat by any.

Uh you, KNOW i had an email come in about
mold and mold it's a huge issue in, houses especially
if they get water in. Them and there are restoration

companies who specialize in taking care of mold issues and
dealing with the insurance. Company AND i had The i'm
not going to say the fortune of dealing with, this
BUT i had the misfortune of having to deal with
this on My dallas office a few weeks. Ago the

fire suppressant system that comes into the, building it's a
six inch pipe and it broke and it flooded the
office on A. Sunday one of my guys just happened
to go in and catch it not long after the pipe,
broke and so we were able to get the water

(01:25:34):
shut off before it flooded everything in the. Building but
it still it still did three quarters of the. Building
but one of the things we had to deal with
was keeping it where it didn't. Mold and so the
first thing they had to do was come in with

(01:25:55):
dehumidifiers and fans and stuff to circulate the air and
get it dried out right. Away then the sheet rock
was cut two feet from up from the floor said
they could get access to finished drying everything. Out and
let me tell, you part of that office had, aluminum

(01:26:17):
had metal framing in, it and those metal tracks they held.
Water so there was no choice but to cut the
sheet rock out of the. Way and obviously when the
water gets into the, insulation the insulation is. Shot and
we had areas because you know when a six inch
pipe is dumping, water we had areas where the water
was three four inches, deep and so that was getting

into the insulation and. Such but we got it dehumidified
and dried out and everything and this week they actually
went and started putting the sheet rock back. In but
just to give you an idea of how devastating this
could be, somebody you, know when people buy your, INSURANCE

i want to encourage, you even if you're not in
a flood, area to carry flood. Insurance it's real cheap
if you're not in a flood. Zone but IF i
didn't have flood insurance on this particular, building it would
have been out of pocket to do all the. Repairs
the repairs is seventy six thousand dollars from a pipe,

(01:27:30):
breaking and the reason it wouldn't have covered through my
regular insurance if we didn't have Flood the pipe wasn't
in the, building it was outside the, building but it
put out so much water that it came up into the.
Building so AGAIN i want to encourage everybody when you're

(01:27:53):
shopping your. Insurance if you don't require flood and so
you're thinking about not getting, it probably one of the
biggest biggest mistakes that you'll. Make WHEN i called my
insurance agent on this claim AND i, said, hey DO
i have, flood he, SAYS i don't think. So, WELL

i want you check the. Policies this was the only
building that was really on a flood policy because it's
outside of any floodplaines or, anything and it was so. Cheap,
NOW i do have flood insurance on other places that
are in the, floodplain but we just assumed because this

(01:28:36):
one was outside the, floodplaine we didn't have. It but
it was so cheap that we went ahead and put it.
On AND i sure am glad we. Did AND i
really want to encourage everybody also on your fire whatever
you set for the fire insurance is what's your house
is valued. At if someone else damages. It you said

how much you think it's, worth and that's the limit
to what you're claiming will. Pay, hey let's talk ABOUT
Usa insulation. Again if you're looking at reinsulating your, home
or maybe if your house is built in the sixties or,
earlier putting insulation in for the first time in the,
WALLS Usa insulation can handle. It this is a non

expansive foam that they inject into the. Walls if it's
a brick, veneer they'll drill holes through the mortar lines
on the brick, wall inject the, foam filling the, cavity
sealing the air. Gaps giving it a huge r. Value
it's like five point one per inch on the. Thickness

that's a. Lot and you, know so you got a
two by four, Wall now do you have a full
four inches of? Thickness, no you got you, know less
than four. Inches but it's still gonna make that home
very energy efficient and it'll kill a lot of sad
from outside as. Well, anyways you need, insulation you need

to CALL Usa insulation and they got a great deal
going for attic insulation along with this right now where
you can possibly get some rebate. Money so give them
a call and ask for. Details four zero nine three
