Speaker 2 (06:54):
Is there another country that spies on the US as
much as China?
Speaker 1 (06:58):
It's just amazing. There are our enemies. They are absolutely
our enemies that are not our friends. Hey, highway that
begins in taxes could get a new name.
Speaker 9 (07:08):
Senator John Cornant has filed legislation a call part of
Highway to eighty seven and change it to Interstate forty seven,
calling it the Trump Interstate.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
As the proposal would boost econ on the growth, improve safety,
and increase federal funding. Can we all come together and
name this highway for Donald J.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Trump five days before we're supposed to vote. That's odd timing,
isn't the.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
President, who is far more popular than John Cornyan, whose
voters by and large don't like John Cornynon, is all
of a sudden, just out of nowhere. These are the
days of our lives.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Man.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
This takes me back to being at my grandmother's house.
Who I called name ten years old at my grandmother's
house because my mother had gone into town and needed
to get more done and had left me with my
grandmother for the day and I would sit there and
watch TV with her, and I remember this was one
of this days of our lives.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
So the stories is my prom.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
These other days of the lots other.
Speaker 12 (08:07):
Days of thear.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Is on well done.
Speaker 9 (08:20):
So this is the Michael Berry Shows belong.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
As we go seven one, three, one thousand, Tom, your
first up?
Speaker 1 (08:34):
What say you, sir?
Speaker 9 (08:36):
Hey Michael, I was just thinking about this election cycle
and how much of the centers around amnesty and DACA
and what we currently have, you know, representing us in
d C and here locally, and uh, you know, I
think we got a lot of choices, hard choices to make,
you know, at every level, but at the county judge level,
everyone should know that Orlando Sanchez has been a massive
(08:57):
supporter of DOCCA. It's all over his Facebook book, it's
all over the place. And his opponent has never supported
amnesty for illegals. That's anchor babies, that's everything that we've
seen advocated for by the Bush machine. So just a
point of information, more than anything, if you don't support
amnesty for illegal aliens, then you probably should be taking
(09:18):
a good look at Warren how he's going to be
on the ballot. Early votings Monday through your next Friday,
of course, and we're hoping to see people turn out
to vote against amnesty for illegal aliens.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
All right, early voting will begin on Monday. I'm amazed
how many people email me. It's almost like the recycling
crowd or something. And I'm not saying that fellow did this,
but it's amazing how many people email.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
Wow, turnout, well, get Republicans to turn out.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
No, we don't, No, we don't. Let's understand the rules.
So understand the assignment in November. We have to get
Republicans to turn out to beat Democrats. We don't have
to worry about turnout next week. And I'm not going
to worry about turnout next week. I never do. If
nobody turns out to the Republican runoff, great, I'll pick
all the candidates because I will.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
I'll vote.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
We don't need because that's what people do at election
time every time. They don't even know what they're saying. Halftime, Well,
I got that vote. Vote, It's time you only got
to vote.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Why think about this for a moment.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Do you want somebody that half ass cares picking the
candidate that you're going to work so hard for in November?
Because I don't If somebody has to be begged to
vote in a runoff, that's not an engaged voter. Your
primary system is how you pick the candidate. That's where
(10:56):
you pick your fighter for November. Your primary candidate needs
to be somebody that you're behind, that you support, that
you want. But whether you do or not, somebody's going
to be on that Republican ballot. Now that's my criticism
of Cindy Single, the current party chairman, and that's why
(11:17):
I'm supporting Don Hooper is every single Harris County ballot
slot should be filled. We've got a Democrat. We have
six Democrat judges who are going to win because our
party chair didn't go recruit.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Candidates to run.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
And that's the job, that is the responsibility put Republicans
on the ballot. But back to the point, you don't
have to worry whether people show up and vote in
the primary. And this is the primary runoff because for
races where they didn't get fifty percent, if somebody is
a low information, low engagement, low care voter. I'd rather
(11:53):
than not vote because you know who people like that
votefore Cornyn. They go, well, corn has been in there.
Huh yeah, well uh yeah, I'll go and vote for him.
Why huh, this is our That's a much smaller voter
turnout in a much smaller pool. We the people of values,
(12:16):
are going to pick the candidate that then we then
go out and get the rest of society to vote
for in November against whoever the Democrats chose. This isn't
a general election, So what you want to do is
find people who you know who care, make sure you vote,
and make sure people who you know care and know
the difference between Canada Day and Canada because not all
(12:36):
Republicans are the same. You could be stuck with six
more years of the twenty four years we've had of
John Cornyn, or you can shake up Washington, d C.
You can show every senator in Washington, d C. In
every congressman. We just did that in the first round
of the in the in the the Republican general election
of the primary. That's where you say to these people, yeah,
(12:58):
you got all the money, you got the swamp you.
They're gonna end up spending lord knows what they would
have ended up spending on Corning. It'll be the most
expensive Senate race of all time. And they're still going
to lose after twenty four years in office. What does
that tell you? What does that tell you? How unpopular
is this guy? How bad is his record? But they
(13:19):
don't care, They don't They're not out for what's good
for this country. They're out for control.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
That's what they want. Justin you're only Mica ware show.
Speaker 11 (13:27):
Go ahead, Yes, sir, Every Friday you play that Pat
Green song, And I'm not gonna be that guy who says, oh,
why does he release it? Although I am curious, but
understand you have a relationship with him and given what
he lost in the Flunds last year, just check it
in to see if if you had any context on
how he's doing and how his family's doing.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Yes, on just a second, there's something I need up.
He sent me a text on this just the other
day and said, I wrote this yesterday with Radney's Radney Foster.
It's this is him singing the demo about my little brother, who,
as you know and have talked about, was killed in
the flood. I've got the song we'll play at the
(14:08):
next event. It's not just about my brother, it's about
the thousands of other people who got crushed by this thing.
It's hard for me to write something positive. In fact,
it's impossible, but I promise you I'm trying. And then
I just said it's important that you do do it
because you have an experience. So yeah, I think that's
his way of coping. For many people, an outlet like
(14:29):
this is how you cope. You say something, you express something.
Some people grieve quietly and alone, and some people grieve
by expressing something and they give us great art out
of it. I think I think past doing five. He
was in town a couple of weeks ago. He sent
(14:50):
me a text he was at brass Reet nineteen but
I couldn't make it. Crockett had a school event and
it's his senior year, and I don't obviously that's that's
my top priority. But I think he's doing find It's
a rough road. I mean, he still travels a lot.
That was a lot for him to process losing your brother.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
Lucky.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
Yeah, the Michael Arry Show continues day.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
That's Radney Foster sing when I saw that, Patrieen just wrote,
if you just tuned in call her. In the last segment,
asked how pat was doing. July fourth will be one
year since what many referred to as the Camp Mystic flood.
It's accurately called the Kirk County flood, but because of
(15:41):
the little girls at Camp Mystic and how they sold
everyone's heart, that's what most people think of. But there
were a lot more people who died as well. There's
enough grief to go around, that's for sure. Anyway, he
asked how pat was doing, and I said, funny, you
should mention that he said it text the other day
that he just finished a song on that and I
(16:03):
read what he said, and that's our first time to
play that song. And it's about the keepsakes from his
little brother John, who along with his wife and think
named Julia, and their two kids were swept away. They
were camping beside the river and they were among those
who perished in that in that awful flood. Anyway, Jeep
(16:26):
weekend this weekend in Galveston, and some of you may
remember this was one of those things that would roll
through town every year and locals would literally go stay
with relatives just to get out. Businesses would all close
down because it was it was absolute mayhem. They would
(16:47):
be shootings, there would be fights, there would be fires,
there'd be destruction. It was absolute hell, and nobody wanted it.
And Jimmy Fullen was elected the Sheriff of Galveston County
like an old fashioned beauty for tea puss to come
in and straighten stuff out. And that's Jimmy. Jimmy's not
(17:09):
using four syllable words. He came in said here's the problem,
we're going to solve it. And that's what they've done.
He brought DPS, he brought all these agencies in and
guess what, businesses are opening again. People don't feel like
they have to flee the island. Funnyest story. I'll tell
you about that in just a moment. He's our guest,
Jimmy Fulling, the Sheriff of Galveston County. JEEP weekend begins today,
(17:30):
is that right?
Speaker 6 (17:32):
Deep weekend begins today? Yes, sir?
Speaker 1 (17:34):
And how long will that go?
Speaker 6 (17:36):
That will go through Sunday?
Speaker 1 (17:38):
Well, as I.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Told you when I saw you last week, I've heard
nothing but absolute praise for you from people who know
I supported you for sheriff over a number of things,
but this jeep we can be in first and foremost
that y'all went in and said, guess what, We're going
to make sure that whoever is on our is in
Bolivar and on the island is going to follow the law.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
You're not going to terrorize the locals.
Speaker 6 (18:01):
You're absolutely right. And again, as you mentioned, I campaigned
on that for years, these deputies were going over there
and in very bold to situations, very unsafe for them,
very unsafe for the people. And I campaigned on we're
gonna go over there and we're gonna find a solution.
And as you mentioned, last year we got in there.
We had roughly five hundred and thirty officers between DPS
Harris County, Houston Police Department Precinct one Constable with Alan Rosen,
(18:26):
and we actually did exactly what we set out to do.
At the end of last year, we had zero sexual assaults,
zero shooting, zero stabbings, really no felony crimes at all.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Really, you mentioned to me an opening, was it Singeries
that had not opened in years?
Speaker 6 (18:44):
Yeah, you know Stingray Restaurant. It's a landmark over there
in Bolivar. They hadn't opened this year. He's actually opening
his doors. In fact, he's actually him and a couple
of other restaurants on the peninsula will actually be catering
our officers meals this year.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
I think that's where ramon correctly if I'm wrong, I
think that's where Hayes Carl.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
I think that's what he's talking about is I Got
a gig.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
I think his first gig was at that at that joint,
and there's a video of it, like a cartoon video.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Jimmy, I don't expect you to answer this question, but
I think the.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
Song I Got a Gig was about that joint because
that's first place that that would actually give him a gig.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
So this goes on through Sunday. Is that what you said?
Speaker 13 (19:22):
That is correct.
Speaker 6 (19:23):
Yes, we've actually our partners with DPS. They actually came
in on Tuesday and started a traffic details I believe
we have about about forty five of those state troopers
that came in from the valley, so they're actually over
there working traffic details in advance of us arriving today.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
And you said the big solution to what hold with
me for just a moment Harris County, Harris, Galveston County
Sheriff Jimmy Fullen is our guest. They've got a line
if you stop, stand or fart or something. I can't
remember that don't want you to do it. But what
they figured out because they had somebody come in who
had dealt with this somewhere else.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
I can't remember.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
The story he can tell you, uh, is that if
you just keep the traffic moving and don't let people
set up shop and begin to do these sorts of things,
then it ends up. You can have your your home back,
you can have your business back. That's what we ought
to be doing. Plus smart devices. Remind me to ask
him about the airbnbs from Michael's brain, every single one
of them.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
To your ears. This is the Michael Ferry Show. Hey,
who was it removed?
Speaker 6 (20:29):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (20:29):
I knew who it was. Wesley Doolittle in Montgomery County.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Remember, shortly after he got elected sheriff of Montgomery County.
He pulls up on something going on. It was stupid,
I can't remember, and he just hops out, just goes
to town.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
Do you remember that? I thought that was a great story. Well,
Fullen's got one of those. He pulled up on this deal.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Shortly after he becomes sheriff, there's a guy that had
stolen the somebody's uh like a police chief out in Brian,
I think it was. He stole guy's ranch truck and
went to running in it, and they chased him all
the way through harris kont They got all the way
down to galve Soon and they set up the net
and he's coming down Broadway and Fullen was swearing in
(21:13):
these deputies and he said, guys, I gotta go.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
Proud of you to the families. Proud of you, but
I gotta go.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
So he and his guys jump out, and as luck
would have it, he squares up against this guy hood.
The hood jumps out, that guy starts firing. He starts firing.
Kill shot to the head. That'll build a legacy. That's
movie stuff. Jimmy Fulling, what do you about.
Speaker 6 (21:36):
I'm looking at these people flying down the freeway right now.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
Oh well, just kind of make a mental image of
what it is, and then when we're done, you can
go get them.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Yeah. Now, we're not gonna go get them while we're talking.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Ramon see, because he might cuss while he's driving.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
So the reaction.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
Well, let me ask you for people who don't know,
because I remember reading it about it and hear about
how how bad was JEEP Weekend before y'all decided we're
just not going to tolerate this any longer.
Speaker 6 (22:04):
Uh, JEEP weekend was very bad. Several years ago. They had,
like I believe, there was eight shootings, a couple of stabbings, kidnapping,
sexual assaults, and you know, it got to a point
that like two or three in the morning, the officers
were totally out numbered and actually a fear of their lives,
and you know, we just we just can't tolerate that.
And again, like I told you, you know, our campaign was, hey,
(22:26):
we're going to put a stop to deep Weekend. We're
gonna we're going to obey the law, but we're gonna
go in there and we're gonna make sure there's gonna
be zero tolerance for any criminal activity. And you know,
we got together and had a strategic plan in place
last year, went to the GLO, worked with our state partners,
and uh man, we pulled it. We managed to pull
it off.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
Gl O is a General Land Office which regulates beach
front because this was actually happening on the beach be itself,
but I want to go back. I was very impressed
with the interagency cooperation that doesn't always happen. So the
DPS was who sent you the most resources?
Speaker 1 (23:04):
Was that DPS.
Speaker 6 (23:06):
Actually last year Houston sent quite a few and also
Harris County Sheriff's Office, So total combined, last year we
had just shied about five hundred and thirty officers on
the peninsula between Houston Police Department, Harris County Precinct One,
Harris County Sheriff's Office, DPS, and some of our local
agency here in Galveston County. And this year, this year,
(23:27):
we're sitting just shy of three hundred and fifty officers
told along the peninsula.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
And I believe you told me that.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Most folks were shutting down their airbnb because the kind
of people coming in for this would tear up your
airb your house that you've rented out anyway, because a
lot of people buy a place in Bolivar and they
use it and then when they're not using it, they
collect some rent on it. But they didn't want the
people who were coming in and tearing these places up.
And you said that y'all even had rooms donated, units
donated for these troopers that were driving in from all.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
Over the state. But then once it got safe, then
they didn't want to donate any more.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
They wanted to rent their rooms now because now they
tourism is coming back to the island.
Speaker 13 (24:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (24:06):
Well, I mean we're down on our number of beds
this year, you know, for our troops, but we still
ended up with two hundred and eighty beds this year,
which you know covers our covers our out of town
officers as well as most of ours. But again, uh,
it's down from last year. And we attribute that to
because we made the beaches safer now that people are
able to come out and rent their beach houses to
law Abiden citizens that want to come down and enjoy
our beautiful.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
Beaches and businesses.
Speaker 6 (24:29):
I'm gonna go back to what you always talk about.
It's it's all about relationships, you know, just like your
relationship with Jonathan Kim and Russell the Bira with with gringos.
You know, they're always out there helping the community. Same
thing here. We're partner up with our restaurants, with our
real estate, with our reeltors, you know, just trying to
promote the economy over here in Crystal Beach. And by
by doing that, if we go in there and we
(24:50):
make it a safe beach for people to come to,
the families are going to come and the riff raft
is going to stay away. And that's that's our main
goal here, just to make sure people come down and
joy our beautiful beaches.
Speaker 1 (24:59):
And have a great well.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
The frustrating thing is that everybody knew this was a problem,
and nobody wanted to tackle it. Nobody wanted to do
Nobody want to stand up and be called bad names
and and and protect the people who live there and
run businesses. And that that's the fundamental responsibility. That's what
you're supposed to do.
Speaker 6 (25:18):
That's what I was elected to do, and I got
I gotta give obviously, I got to give credit to
all my troops within the Sheriff's office, in the outside
agency that came in to lend us for hand. Uh.
It worked out beautifully last year, and I was suspect
it's going to work out again this year.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
I love to see it. It's a it's a uh.
It's an example to all doing your job. Imagine that,
Galson County.
Speaker 6 (25:39):
Michael, if good, if I made real quick before you
hang up, I just want to I just want to
mention the fact on that incident out on Broadway, I
cannot commend my guys and nothing. Fact two of my
guys are going to be recognized by the one hundred
Club coming up next week, next Tuesday night. I believe
it is with the one hundred Club. So I'm very
proud of my guys and everything they do.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
That's fantastic. I love it.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
Lston can sure if Jimmy Fullen, David, you're only Michael
Berry show, go ahead, Sir.
Speaker 1 (26:08):
David, Yes, you're up.
Speaker 13 (26:13):
Yeah, we're just going back to let me take our
speaker phones in the route. Yeah, we're just going back
to the same stuff again. Karl Rogue, he said the
same thing about Ronald Reagan. He can't win. He can
win to general but he I mean, he can't win
the general election, but he can win because he was
too divisive. He couldn't only win the primary. So we're
(26:33):
here we go again. I mean, more things change, the
more things to stay the same.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
What's amazing, though, is how many people get duped by this.
And I know this because I read my emails and
it's usually women because women don't have as much confidence
in their vote as men do. And weather confidence and
certainty is always a good thing or a bad thing.
We can debate, but a lot of women and don't
(27:00):
have confidence in their own vote, their own decision making
ability where they should. And they will say, this is
the email I get. I want Paxton, but I'm worried
he can't win in November? Should I vote for corn In?
Ill want you just go ahead and vote for tall
(27:21):
Rico because if everybody who's worried tal Rico's going to
win votes for talar Rico, then tal Rico will win.
And what's horrible about this is it is such a
third degree mind manipulation that is played on people. As
(27:44):
you said, they said Reagan Mike could win the primary,
but he couldn't win in November.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
He did.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
They said this of Trump. Cornin himself said Trump can't
win in November. In November of twenty twenty four, we
don't want him. The party needs to move past. Now
he's claiming he wants to name highways for him a
couple days before the election. Well, they can spend enough
money and tell you that Corning's great and here he
is in a cowboy hat. And here's some guy you
(28:10):
never heard of who's probably on the take saying he
good guy, he go fire, he wear cable high like,
and hey's been in a long time. And I think
people have got to recognize that your vote does count.
