Speaker 1 (00:03):
It's that time time sign time, luck and load. The
Michael Verie Show is on the air. So I broke

(00:42):
my fast after five days. And you have to be
careful when you do that because if you if you
go read anything about fasting, you see that the risk
with fast is not the fasting. I know people that

(01:02):
don't know anything about it. Well, how dangerous you die.
You're not going to die from fasting, but you could
die from eating after your fast because as it turns down,
as it turns out, your system goes into shutdown mode
and it becomes very, very efficient because it doesn't waste

(01:28):
any money, any money, any energy and calorie. A calorie
is just a measurement of energy, justice cash is a
measurement of value. And what your body does, which is
the magic of fasting, is that when you don't give
your body food, you don't give it external calories, it

(01:52):
starts looking around and cannibalizing and going well, you're still
using your brain in about twenty percent of your body's
energy consumption is your brain. But when you are inactive,
which you typically are when you're fasting, it's an even
greater percentage. You're not using your brain more. It's just

(02:12):
that you're not doing other things as much. So your
body is very efficient if we just get out of
the way of our bodies. So your body then begins
searching for an energy source, and when you don't give
it to it, it still needs it. It's on an
empty tank. It doesn't just shut down and you pass out.

(02:35):
It starts finding energy sources that have been stored and
those energy the sources that it uses first are supposedly,
you know, you're having to take someone's word for it
because you can't see it yourself, but studies have shown
that the energy source it seeks out first is the
things you should most get rid of, the bad cells,

(02:57):
the dead cells, the deadly cells, the pre cancer, our sales,
and these sorts of things. And it begins eating itself,
which is known as auctophogy and literally the eating of
one's own self. And that's where the weight loss comes in.
But it's also where the sense of almost a euphoria

(03:20):
comes in, supposedly at day four, and that's where there
are all these there's a lot written in a lot
of studies, and then there are wellness guys out there,
and you know, some of these wellness guys are goobers,
and some of them I think hit on some things
that traditional medicine would not because so many traditional docs

(03:41):
are practicing conventional medicine that they learned in medical school
forty years ago, and they don't want to hear anything unconventional.
There should be a prescription for everything you need, and
and here it is, and you know, come back and
see me in six months. And you know that's not
really healing you. It's really more kind of molly coddling you.

(04:02):
But that's what not all doctors, but that's what a
lot of medicine has become. So ramon being on day thirty,
I'm not going to lie to you day five. I
was going to do seven days, but we were going
to see Lile of It, and I wanted to have
dinner before Lyle Love It. It was because we were

(04:26):
having dinner with my friend Dan Cogdail and his wife
and his twelve year old grandson, and I had sat
with Jesse Kelly on Wednesday night and not eating anything,
and it was kind of creepy because I'm sitting there
and he's eating like a horse. He's a huge eater.
You wouldn't know it as skinny as he is, but
he's like eight feet tall, so he's got a long

(04:47):
cylinder to put it all in. Anyway, so I decided
that i'd break it a little early, and I did,
and all was fine. On the subject, which many of
you have hit me up on. Yes, Cogni endorsed Taller Rico.
I guess yesterday. He didn't tell me he was going
to do that. He did tell me that that he uh,

(05:08):
he had him on his podcast and he likes him.
I need you to understand something that people don't seem
to get. I like the music of Bob Dylan. I
am aware Bob Dylan has bad politics. I don't know
that's true, but he probably does. You don't have to
keep telling me that I understand. I like Dan Cogdaill.

(05:33):
I did send him a tex telling him, You're still
my friend. But I think the tall Rico endorsement is stupid.
But you're still my friend and and and that's fine,
and I don't I don't see any upside to you
doing it. And I left it at that. He is
a Democrat. He doesn't deny that when his Democrat friends

(05:53):
tell him I'm a monster because I did an interview
for him, on his podcast. He says, well, he may be,
but he's my friend and he's super super nice. And
I know this because all the Democrats who baited him
have told me that he says these things. And he
has a wonderful family and he adores them, and he's
really good to his friends. And yeah, so okay, he's
a monster. You don't like him. I do, and we

(06:15):
leave it at that. Anyway, Ramone's thirtieth day, we went
in on I suppose it was Saturday, late afternoon, and
we're sitting at the bar, which is which is where
I prefer to sit now at restaurants because you don't
have to wait on the waiter and all that. And

(06:37):
there's a couple sitting over to the side, and I
didn't know I had met the guy ten years before,
but he kind of smiled at me, and I made
eye contact with Gate, which gave the yeah, go ahead
and say whatever you want to say. You not bothered me. Look,
even though I had my Blockbuster ball cap down over
my eyes so I wouldn't be noticed or bothered. And
my beard is growing out nicely so it doesn't look

(06:58):
like me. And he's said we were literally just talking
about Ramon about five minutes ago. I said, oh, is
that right? Okay, I don't know if that's for play.
I don't know what it is. So I said, and
what was that about? He said, well, we were wondering
if we were trying to remember what day he's on

(07:21):
and whatever that was of twenty six or whatever. And
he said, you know, I'm thinking on Monday of starting
a fast. I've never done a fast. I'm going to
do a three day And I said, why don't you
just stick to one day? And his wife said, I'm
going to do a fast, and so we started talking
about it, and they were talking about how inspired they were.
And I don't want his head to get any bigger,

(07:46):
but Ramon at one point was just short of four
hundred pounds. He was the picture of dying before you're forty.
And regardless what he weighs, he's down in the low twos.
Now I have had people, even my wife was talking
about it, and she's the fittest person I've ever met.
Consistently day and dan, people are emailing me how inspired

(08:11):
they are by Ramone, And I thought, you know what
I love about this, Like Petru is a picture of fitness,
but here's Ramon, Like anybody can be inspiring. You just
wake up and go, I'm gonna do something, and you can.
You can, you still have a life, You can, you
can do so. As I call it the Michael Bade Show,

(08:35):
Robert re sent me a message that said, the Briggy
bamb seasoning guy works for Republic Boot Company. Oh now
I'm annoyed that he told me that, because why wouldn't
you tell me who it was? Because I would end
up knowing it who it was makes me crazy. People
will say, yeah, we went out to this restaurant, had

(08:57):
the most amazing meal, The service was incredible, that the core,
it was incredible. Yeah, it was a good night. Okay,
Well why wouldn't you tell me who the restaurant was?
And now I'm just knowing. I got to follow up.
Now I have to follow up and ask. I can't
be mad at Robert Reese for too long. You So, anyway,

(09:19):
what I love about that story with Ramon and the
people at the next table is, oh, so, oh, you
ask how I knew him? I didn't. He looked familiar.
And that's a curse I have. My wife says, it's
my worst curse because I'll spot somebody across the room
and I'm like, well, I can't see very well now,
but if I see somebody that I reckon, I can

(09:42):
see their features. I know that guy, but I have
no idea where, and it could be one of a
thousand places, but I will remember it. And then you
go up to somebody like do I know you? Especially
a woman. They think you're hitting on him, so I
have to say I'm not hitting on you, I swear,
but I feel like I've met you somewhere before. And
my look always changes, so they might not know it's me,

(10:04):
because a lot of people might know my voice but
not what I look like, even though like a teenage girl,
I post pictures myself all time on social media, but
that aside. So I kind of recognized him, and it
turned out he ran a restaurant called Big Polly's. I
had to show sponsor named PAULI McCurdy years you remember,

(10:27):
years ago, maybe fifteen years ago, and he had like
a drywall company or some kind of some kind of tradesman,
but not a licensed tradesman. I don't know why, my
brain files it that way. And he had a restaurant
that was just he didn't need the restaurant, didn't need
the money. He had cooked. He was a really good cook,

(10:47):
and so he always wanted to open a restaurant. So
we hired this guy to run it. So what I
love about that story is him talking about what an
inspiration Ramon was. And so here was Ramone who his
entire life. Realistically, nobody would say it to his face.
But you go, if you, you know, tell me about Ramon.
You go, well, he's fat and he's bald, but you
would say he's fat, right, Nobody would would not say

(11:07):
he's fat. And then here's a guy that's just like, yeah,
all right, but watch this, watch what I'm going to do.
And so like my wife says, who's the most disciplined
person I've ever met? In everything she does? She very
just one. She's like, I couldn't do three days, but
now he's on thirty. I remember we rude the MS
one fifty. It's one hundred and fifty miles. It's not easy.

(11:29):
And what makes it difficult. One hundred fifty miles on
a flat path would be fine, but riding to Austin
you get I mean even a one degree grade, and
there's a lot more than that is rough. You know,
there's a lot of the uphill, and they had what's
called a sagwag. So they have these these passenger vans

(11:51):
that they follow behind you and because there are people
who they just give out and so they get in
the sagwag. Now what I hate if you get in
the same call it a day you didn't finish well.
What these people will do is they'll get out till
they get to the top of the hill and they're like,
I feel better now, and now hop out. Come on, man,
you can't say you did it anyway. I know it's
been a while since you've ordered a cheeseburger combo because

(12:14):
where you said, we're on day thirty. And I know
he won't admit it because then if he comes up short,
he feels like he failed. And right now, it's because
he was only going to do an eleven to only
he was going to do an eleven day fast. So
at eleven he was like, I feel fine, I'm go
to keep on going. Well, once we started getting into
the high teens, he started asking questions about Marcus, because
Marcus did a forty day fast to coincide with his

(12:36):
fiftieth birthday and he lost fifty pounds. And what he
didn't plan for is he and Morgan, because they're twins,
had a birthday party together and everybody shows up and
his wife, Melanie had all this great food there and drink,
and he couldn't eat or drink because he was just
You can't just put that in your system. You'll be

(12:57):
hospital Some people have been hospitalized over it. He had
a good sense to know that. Anyway, I think he's
trying to do forty one days, but he you don't
have to admit it, but I know that's what you're
going for. And then for the rest of his life
people be like, well, out did Marcus Latrel on a
forty one day fast. What's amazing is that people will
leot me dead nine and go that's impossible. Well, I'll
say over the weekend, you know, he's twenty six days.

(13:17):
It's impossible. You can't you die? Okay, Well, I guess
he's dead because he hasn't. But if you look it
up and actually spend five minutes reading about it, you
can we doesn't eat any and then they start quibbling
does he eat two calories? It's called it dirty fast.
If if you do something, you know, if you drink
diet cokes, or if you put cream in your cow
fore or whatever. But one thing about Ramon is when

(13:39):
he does something, whether it's binders of his details on
cooking barbecue or whatever else, he's going to be over
the top about it. He's got approximately three thousand plants
in his house which he walks around with like Alice
the Maid and the Brady Bunch. It puts his little
his little thing on and goes around the house waters

(14:00):
the plants. And then he's got his fish and he
feeds the fish. And anyway, what was I going to
tell you? No, they're not going to make a movie
about That's not why they made a movie about Marcus. Anyway.
So a listener named Glenn Cowan sent in a bit
by a guy named Bobby Finn, and it's not Fallout funny,

(14:24):
but it kind of makes the point. And the sad
party is it's true. Okay, your total seventeen thirty eight.
That can't be right. I only ordered a cheeseburger combo.
My mistake. I didn't hear you say a combo twenty
three eighty one. Oh that's We do offer financing for
any combo meal purchase. Oh perfect, but what about your

(14:46):
credit score? So I made a post the other day
about restaurants and things, and it irritates the hell out
of me if I say, you know, we're out at
this restaurant and it was wonderful, and there'll be some
guy who's just a complete crank and he'll say, too expense,
I naver rate there? Okay, Well, why don't you just

(15:07):
not eat there and not comment? Like? Are you mad
that it's expensive? Like do you drive up to the
Rolls Royce dealership and say get tell them for Tata
these cars are too expensive? Just don't buy one. It's
not that big a deal anyway. So I was saying,
I don't understand why people feel the need. You know,
there is kind of a democrat jealousy mentality among some

(15:30):
of our populist side of our party, and they hate
anyone else ever having anything nice. They're resentful. Oh must
be nice to eat out at a nice restaurant. As
a matter of fact, it's freaking awesome. I love it.
It's my favorite thing. Thank you, Like I don't you
might be in the wrong party, dude, what do you

(15:51):
I don't you know, run around Cobn's on his private
jet again. It must be nice to be on his
private jet. I mean it is, it really is. But
on the price of food, so this guy says, I
generally don't bitch about food, but he ate it five
guys burners. It was sixty dollars for three burgers and
three fries and three cokes. And I looked it up.

(16:12):
It was so today Tuesday, Thursday is the SpaceX IPO
And I was originally in it, but I got to
thinking about two things. Number One, I wanted to be

(16:34):
able to talk about it and talk about it a lot.
And I don't think I'm a market maker. You know,
CNBC would be, but we're not in a position to
change the demand one way or another for a stock
that's probably the most oversubscribed subscribed stock in American history.

(16:58):
I don't know if that's true. I'm guessing just based
on amount of talk about it, but it's definitely going
to be in the top ten. Everybody is investors are
all very interested in it. And number one, I wanted
to be able to talk about it, and I didn't
want people to think I was, you know, doing a
Martha Stewart, even though Martha Stewart didn't do a Martha
Stewart whatever. I didn't want it to seem like I

(17:19):
was hyping something that I was involved in, and so
I said, well, I'd rather talk about it than be
invested in it. But the other thing is, I got
to thinking, and I start digging, and I think Elon
is a genius. I think you have to have Elon's
in the world. You have to have a Steve Jobs,
you have to have an Elon Muskin. And people if

(17:41):
I say something nice about him or you know, they'll
say he got a bunch of babies. Okay, Well I
didn't say. He's a great father of a nuclear family
that there are four of and he comes home to
a wife every day who he adores, and he's attentive
in the lives of his two children, and he goes
to the PTA. I didn't say that. I don't know

(18:02):
why people feel the desperate need to do that. If
I say, man me and Joe Green was one hell
of a defensive lineman. Pastorini said that dude earned his nickname.
He was mean, but he was a great defensive lineman.
I don't expect somebody to go, oh it wasn't a
very good husband. Okay, that test there's literally no relation

(18:23):
to that. It makes me crazy anyway, So I asked
my financial advisors, my wealth accumulators from more at Steve.
I said, hey, could you impull for me the top
IPOs in the modern era and how they did twelve
months later, because I think seems to me like for

(18:44):
almost every one of these, there's a bunch of hype
and then a year later it's it's down, And they did.
Facebook was down thirty one percent after twelve minutes, down
after one week it was down seven ten percent. Twitter
was flat and down ten percent after twelve months. Ali

(19:05):
Baba was down four percent. That's the big Chinese. Amazon
at the end of a year was down thirty Shopify
was up seven percent and up two percent at the
end of twelve months. I'll go down on some of these.
Let's see. Dropbox was up ten percent and at the
end of the year was down twenty four percent. Zoom

(19:26):
was up five percent, at the end of the year
was up one hundred and forty two percent. Uber was
up one percent and then down twenty one percent. Now
it's not to say that those stocks don't rebound It's
not to say that those stocks don't do well visa
other stocks. It is to say that, just like in
everything else in life, they don't live up to the hype,

(19:49):
and so the hype creates an expectation. I can't tell
you how many times I've gone to a restaurant that
if I had just discovered it by walking in, I
would have thought it was But you hear so much
about it that then you're there and you're like, Okay, yeah,
they throw peanuts on the floor. Well, I guess that
just wasn't as exciting to me as it was supposed

(20:10):
to be. Or a movie, it's supposed to be the
greatest thing ever, and then you watch it and I mean,
it's fun. There wasn't anything wrong with it, but it
wasn't the most exciting thing. You know. I don't understand
what all the hype was about, and I think that
that's probably kind of what we're going to probably what
we're going to see here. I also on the issue

(20:32):
of hype. I want to go back to this issue
because I don't want to answer this question. I'm exhausted
by the question. I'm not going to answer it now.
In November, I'm just going to go, hey, remember when
I told you we were going to beat Tallerico by
twenty percent. We beat him by twenty percent. Okay I
told you, Remember I told you, Well, yeah, I was worried. Okay,
you should be worried. Just don't worry to me. No,

(20:55):
my friend, she said, I said. When I gave him
the response, she said, can I share this with the group?
I said, hell no. The last thing I need is
a bunch of breathless women running around reposting that saying
Michael Berry's not worried. See, he's not worried. He should
be worried. He needs to be doing his job. He's
not worried. And so she sent back and she's a
dear friend. She goes, man, you're grounded for two weeks.

(21:18):
You just said I was breathless. I said no, I
said all the other women are breathless. You're not breathless
with heart. My wife is like, I don't think you
handle that robot. I was cranky. I'm quite faster. I
was faster. I get cranky. Let me first say that
worrying about elections does not actually change the result. I

(21:46):
want to be clear on that. So if the Texans
were playing the forty nine ers this Sunday. It was
very important to you that they win. The amount of
time that you spend worrying is not actually in any
way going to affect the outcome. And once you understand that,

(22:12):
you can spend your time more productively. Now, if you
don't have anything else going on, which I think is
probably true for some people, then worry and tell everybody
you're worrying, because then it's like an activity, like I'm
over here worrying because otherwise you don't have anything going on.
Or another thing you can do is you can use

(22:34):
I'm worrying as your signal that you care a lot
about politics, because that's what some people do as they
run around talking about how worried they are. And then
that way it becomes you know, oh, Susie, she's really
worried about the election. She you know, she's really into politics.

(22:56):
That's also I suppose an activity, you know, instead of
majong or are working out or you know, going for
a walk or whatever you can, you can do that.
I just want you to understand that that does not
in any way, not even one percent, does not move
the needle when the votes are cast that will not
change the numbers. When I say that I'm not worried,

(23:19):
that is not to say it's a fad of complete
It's just going to happen no matter what. No, a
lot of work's going to be done. But it's also
important that you understand the electorate. Even in Texas, and
this is the part where it gets ugly, we have
a lot of people who when things are going right,

(23:39):
they will tell you that they are a Republican and
they may, you know, go to a rally. They may
have American flag to get excited over July fourth, we're
winning wre and they may post on some you know.
As for me, I mean I wouldn't stand by and
let that happen. Well, they get they've gone on the
wrong side of me, but they're actually just they're never

(24:01):
going to do anything. And in fact, you'll know who
these people are because they get very upset if they're
called to racist, very upset, and they get flustered. It
will absolutely ruin their day. If somebody cuts in line
in front of them at the store and it's a

(24:23):
long whenn't even waiting forever and they're having a bad
day and they're tired, and person cuts it and they
so much as breathe heavily, and the person says, you
gonna stop me, you racist? They will get very upset
and run and tell thirty people that they were called
a racist, and then they will tell you the five
different ways that they're not a racist, which will include,
but not be limited to the black people that they're
nice to, particularly low on the socioeconomic scale. You know,

(24:46):
I tip me at the dry cleaners every time there
had been a black person working at dry cleaners in
fifty years. But you know, you know, there's a black
guy that carries my groceries out at agib and I
always tip him twenty dollars and he always says, missus Smith,
you wanted the good ones and it makes me feel
so good. Well, why are you so worried about it?

(25:09):
We have a problem in this country with white women voters.
That's where we lose the election. We've not been able
to make great inroads among among black voters. That's a fact.
There's no denying that. That is a very steep hill
to climb. Uh it's a tradition. There's there's a lot

(25:31):
that goes into that. You can try and usually the
way Republicans handle that is with the Michael Steele. They
go get a black guy who really doesn't agree with
anything we agree with. He just liked to be in charge,
and they put him in charge. And then they run
around and there's so they're like, hey got a black
we got a black lieutenant governor. Look at this Merritt

(25:52):
State of Maryland, black lieutenant governor. Huh yeah, yeah, well
maybe yeah, maybe y'all are racists for running against him, well,
black lieutenant governor. And then the guy the whole time,
the only Republican thing that they ever do is, you know,
cut the ribbon on July fourth and talk about it's
a good country, or at least he's not running the
country down. And then the minute his career is over,
he goes on MS now and runs down Republicans and

(26:15):
calls everybody racist and he's never changed. He's awful, and
but you didn't make any inroads. And nobody black respected
that guy anyway. By the way, the blacks that Republicans
love to run and get and put into a position
with the party or you know, as an organization or
whatever else. Nobody else that's black listens to that guy.
Nobody thinks, well, you know, Bob Smith, he's black and

(26:38):
now he's a chairman of the party, or he's this
and that's going to be great. Nobody thinks that, nobody
black anyway. The only people who think that are white people,
because then they think it makes them less racist. Which
if you have to do that, you have to wonder
why are you doing that in the first place. Maybe
you are if you're trying so hard. But anyway, so
what's going to happen between now and then? The only

(27:01):
thing that matters? In two thousand the Bush Gore race,
they called him soccer moms and there was this battle
for the soccer mom. And the reason we have this
battle is because people think this election is about their
emotional state, and so what they do is they internalize
it and they go, Paxton cheated on his wife. Yeah, yes,

(27:26):
as a matter of fact, he did. That is stipulated
as evidence. Now let's start, Okay, that happened. Well, I
can't vote for somebody, all right, don't vote for it,
go vote for Tall Rico. I'm gonnake exactly what's gonna
happen in two years or maybe next year when Taala
Rico takes office Democrats have a fifty one to forty

(27:49):
nine majority. They will do something awful, something that you
cannot foresee today. They will do something awful and you
will be shocked by it. They will make them open
the border and let twice as many illegals in. They
will change laws that will matter. It'll actually matter to you,

(28:12):
and you'll be furious. But they'll have the majority, and
you'll say, what do we do you You don't do anything.
You shut the f up because you're the stupid ass
that voted for a Democrat. That's what you can do.
And by the way, anybody that is saying to you
ladies in your Rose club that they're considering voting for

(28:36):
Tyl Rico because Paxton is not a saint, they voted
for Obama twice, I guarantee you because they wanted to
vote for a black guy to prove themselves they're not racist.
Those people are going to be the swing. But I
wish they'd stay home, be honest, But they're at a
minimum'm going to cancel out their husband's vote, and that
is the voter we're looking for. And I know I'm
going to hear from people, and I know you're thinking

(28:57):
he's a bestigst. He doesn't like women. No, No, I
love women, absolutely love them. I find a beautiful, adorable, charming,
loving great mothers, great colleagues, great neighbors, the whole thing.
But the truth is the Democrats know how to do them.
They do, and there's no that's a fact
