(00:00):
The Michael Barry Show talking about fears, disabilities, deformities and how you overcame
them, because otherwise, what's thepoint, Jerry, you're on the Michael
Berry Show. What is yours? My disability was? I voted for Obama
(00:23):
in two thousand and eight and wasa member of the Democrat Party in my
early twenties, and I just hadto educate myself. I had to educate
myself see what was best for meat the time and just the misinformation.
And happy to say since twenty fifteen, I've come to the right side,
(00:45):
have come back to pastor what'd youdo in twelve? I'm sorry? What
did you do in twenty twelve?I sat out? Take me back to
eight? How are you twenty? For twenty five? In your mind?
In community college, as ridiculous asit may seem today, in your mind,
(01:08):
that was the right thing to do. In your mind, you were
operating on a certain set of premises. What were those? I was in
community college at the time, andmy history teacher was making sure we were
all registered to vote and actually assignedthe book hit Obama's book that he had
(01:32):
that he wrote with dreams of myfather or something like that. And just
pushed it hard and you know, just kind of like what they do today,
just kind of get the class anddoctor NATed and you know, this
man's gonna be the next great president, this and that. So you know,
as a you know, dumb personin my early twenties, is okay,
(01:53):
I'll do it. He plays basketball, that's pretty cool, and went
along with it. Was there evera moment during this disability that anyone said
to you, that's a terrible aterrible idea for this reason? Um No,
(02:15):
because everyone was like, this isokay, it's going to be great.
Just do it, Just do it. And I had a couple of
people that were like, oh,you know, don't don't be fooled,
don't drink the kool aid. Butyou know, at the time, I
thought my disability was normal. Ithought everybody was like this, and you
(02:38):
know, it wasn't wasn't the case. What was What was it where you
realized you'd made a mistake? Um, probably the just looking at what was
(02:59):
going on with the economy and thebailouts and people losing their house. But
then it's like, but the automakersare getting bailed out, the banks are
getting bailed out, this doesn't seemright, you know what I mean?
(03:20):
Yes, but I think Bush wouldhave bailed them out too, and Bush
did have some bailouts. With regardto that policy, I think Bush was
equally bad. But keep going andthen just kind of seeing you know,
like a energy sector just you know, just kind of mass layoffs and you
(03:42):
know, why why are we whyare we not producing here at home?
Like why are we We're getting ouroil overseas? Just you know, just
just just kind of educating myself, just seeing, you know, this,
this doesn't make sense. And then, you know, like I said in
twelve, just kind of sat out, like I don't want to deal with
this, and then you know whatthe you know, when when Trump came
(04:04):
down the escalator, it's like,oh, you know, this makes a
lot of sense. Do you thinkif Trump hadn't come down the escalator literally
and figuratively, if he weren't inthat race, do you think you would
have voted Republican in twenty sixteen ordo you think it would have stayed out
again? I would have stayed outagain because I guess I saw what Romney
(04:28):
was doing and I was like, there's there's no energy, you know it
wasn't anything to you know, pullsomeone out who who wasn't really interested in
in the uh the political show andjust you know the the like I said,
the the energy that that that Trumphad, That's what kind of you
(04:48):
know, got me off the thecouch and was like, Okay, you
know see what this man has tosay. It makes sense. Jerry.
