Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, it was a great game in November. That gives
you an idea of all the things that you did
well and the things that you need to work on.
They're a very good team, really good team, and there's
a lot of we can learn from it.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
And I have to say, like, wow, the way your
team came out, the defense looked did everything needed to
be done, controlling the boards and so a great start.
And what do you think was the difference the third quarter?
Was it halftime came and if it didn't have halftime,
it doesn't even become that.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Show, you know. I think in the first half we
had we were able to get out and transition, and
they made an adjustment and played zone, and it took
us a while to get comfortable against the zone. And
because they started making more shots, they were able to
come back into their zone defense and we missed a
lot of shots. We had open looks, so stuff that
we can work on. But it was definitely I thought

(00:52):
there's zone that caused a little bit of an issue
for us in the second half.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
But when push came to shove and you came out
of a timeout, it seemed that you got they executed
what you wanted. You actually had the high low down
to Sarah and get the basket that you wanted.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Yeah, well we did. You know, we had some really
good looks. We took some quick shots. You know this
this we're still a team with a lot of new pieces,
you know, so we're starting to trying to figure all
that out on the fly against a really, really good team.
So I thought Azy Fudd came up big just knocking
in threes and then making the free throws down the stretch.

(01:29):
Just a lot of stuff we can learn from, you know,
our defense, you know, some of our switching, you know,
giving up threes key, you know, and key moments are
to their best three point shooters or things that we
have to that we can work on, and they're you know,
that's teachable things that we can get better at, and
we will.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
And I think you're saying like the highs and the
lowest because quite a few the majority of the game,
they did do a really good and changing and talking
and you saw like rate where they needed to be.
And then there is always those a couple of times
where you're like, oh.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
That you can't figuregure out why we would change how
we were doing it. For the majority of the game
to then not to it that way. But you know,
like I said, it's a teachable moment, a lot of
teachable moments. Will get a chance to look at the
film tomorrow, go through some stuff and get ready for Utah.
But this was you know, this was a game that
in the end we could have lost that game, but

(02:21):
you know, to our kids' credit. I mean, Sarah Strong
was amazing on the backboard with twenty rebounds. I think
she had eleven and she had a double double at halftime.
But we need more, you know, we need more people
rebounding the ball. Their guards were rebounding. We need to
do a much better job with that. Just a lot
of stuff that we can get better at.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
So an overall, as you mentioned this time of the year,
it's perfect game to be to be a check in
and gets everybody, not necessarily the coaches get you know,
see the ugly of it. But what a game for
women's basketball.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Well, I think you can learn a lot more from
a game like this than you can if you're you're
up by forty. So this was a great game for
us to have. And that's why we schedule teams like this,
and that's why we play the schedule we do so
that we can have these opportunities so that we can improve.
And we can see it's right there in the face
on the film. You can see what those things are

(03:11):
that we have to improve on.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
And it's always nice too that you only have a
day off. Maybe not for coaches in game preparation, let
me rephrase it, but as a player, they know that
you get to get back out on Sunday and yeah,
get performers step up on some of those things.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Yeah, we have an opportunity to go through some things
tomorrow and then get a chance to play you tom
I'm sure you know they had a disappointing loss today,
so I'm sure they're going to be ready, So will
we all right?

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Well, thanks Daily Report.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Yes, thank you. Back to you, Bob.
