Speaker 1 (00:00):
So Ashlyn, heck of a game and somewhat kind of
in your backyard fans here to see you.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Oh yeah, I have plenty of family here. Cincinnati is
only like an hour and a half drive for my family.
My brother goes to Cincinnati. I have a lot of
family that lives in Dayton, so it is it's kind
of like a mini homecoming and.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
You put on a show for him. Talk about the defense,
but also you got pretty high from behind the three
point line too.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yeah, No, I think just my defense created my offense today.
As a team, we really were trying to emphasize being
active on defense, getting in the passing lanes, getting steals,
and then offensively just doing what we do and that's
score the ball.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Speaking of defense, forget the actional number, but quite a
few turnovers you cause as a team and turn those
into a lot of points. Was that something with the
trapping and the defense you've been working on or what
was the keys that you thought really ignited the defense?

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yeah? Absolutely, getting in those passing lanes. I think when
we had the opportunity, we wanted to trap as much
as we could. But anytime we were in anytime we
were in the gap, passing lane. We wanted to be in,
like in Deny, don't let him catch it. That was
kind of like our goal. So if you're like one
pass away from the ball, don't let your man catch it,
force him back door. Just really being ultra aggressive.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
They started in a zone and it seems that you know,
people think, okay, that's the way, maybe they can slow down.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
You can't.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
It started out oh for five as a unit, but
then it quickly changed. What do you think was that
that found the open threes? Was it the offense or
was it that defense you mentioned.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
I think it's a defense, and I think it's just
getting settled into the game for us. If we're start
over five, then we're gonna go five for five the
next time. So I mean, it's just a matter of
when the shots are is gonna start falling. And if
you're playing a zone, we're gonna shoot out of the zone.
And then if you're playing man, we're gonna attack the
basket and get open threes. I mean, our offense and
the way we play we can do a lot.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
So you know what, we say, there's no place like home,
but you kind of found this is a little bit
of home. Tasting for you too.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Huh oh, yeah, absolutely, no, Cincinnati's I love Cincinnati, my
favorite war Steins, Bangles, Reds. I mean, this is kind
of like a little mini homecoming. I'm here a lot
in the summer going to Reds games and concerts and stuff,
so yeah, it is like a mini homecoming families here.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
So yeah, all right, and you know it is a
little bit cold, but next dextination, you know it will
be away from home. But did you are you looking
forward to a little warmth?

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Oh yeah, absolutely. I don't think I've been on like
other than like our championship. I don't think I've been
on a Florida trip before so during the season, so
it would be kind of nice.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Right, Well, congratulations on the victory and we'll see you
in a warmer climate.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Thank you.
