Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to you com Football Coaches Show. I just
talked to Antonio Harris Junior, the DDE Lyneman Wor's number
fifty eight. Now we moved to the second area on defense.
Cam Chadwick joins US red shirt sophomore. In his freshman year,
Cam had a four game stretch of red shirted and
then got to play twelve of thirteen last year as
a freshman. Let's go there first. Cam starting last year

(00:23):
as a freshman on this level in college football, that
was a big challenge, the transition, I guess to starting
and playing every week last year. How much has that
built a foundation for you this year?

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Do you think, Oh, No, that's definitely built like a lot.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
It's just off just just going back to just like
the normal de routte just of treatment and scheduling out
your day to be able to balance out school, treatment,
the practice, film, you know.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Like it's it's it's definitely a lot. It's definitely a change.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
But as I got more you know, time doing it,
it's like now I have it like a real schedule
that I'm more confident with that fits me perfectly. Like
I get enough sleep, I get like enough time studying,
working practicing, So that's that's definitely good.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Yeah, on the job, training on the field. Last year,
he had forty seven tagles. You broke up six passes.
How much better do you think you are now than
you were last year when you played quite a bit?

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Definitely, Like like, I'm definitely learning a lot still, you know,
from you know, the past couple of games, you know,
back Syracuse, Delaware, just just learning off the things that
I did wrong, you know, just trying to bounce back.
That's that's one of the main things that I harp
on a lot, Like I try to fix the things
that I messed up in during the previous week and
then just using the things that I learned last year
during camp, during during Spring Bowl, just taking all of

(01:45):
those things and really just you know, just finding a
way to get back, you know better, and pretty much
every aspect of the game.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Yeah, experience is very meaningful obviously on any level of sports,
and certainly in football. Three interceptions in one game you
had that last week. Have you ever done that before anywhere?

Speaker 2 (02:06):
No, I've never done that.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
The only hat trick I've ever had was with touchdowns,
I want to say my junior and senior year.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
But never picks.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
I've never even had two, like in one game.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Yeah, high school in Summerville, New Jersey, kind of central
New Jersey area, a little north of Princeton. So you
were an offensive player, I'm assuming in high school, yes, sir, Riah, Okay,
the transition from offense to defense, what's that like?

Speaker 3 (02:35):
It's definitely different, But like I do want to say,
like it does help a lot just off of just
going off of wide out splits and just being able
to recognize certain formations and what teams like off of
it me playing and that helps helps a lot.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Just with the more of the flow of the overall game.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
That's That's something that really helps a lot, just having
to feel knowing when a team wants to take a
shot or knowing when a team is trying to get
the run game going, when to open up the pass
plays with RPOs on the backside.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
So that's it. It definitely helps a lot.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Right, that's good. That's a good piece of intel, that's
for sure. Uh, your position, cornerback, you gotta have a
short memory, right, I mean you're out there on an island.
You could get burned. How do you turn it off
and just go forget? About that play, Let me play
the next play.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
You really just have to learn, like like you have
to learn from it quick.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
You have to just really live in the sixth you know,
like in the six seven seconds of play really, so
like if something goes wrong to play before you, like
you never know that the in the next couple pennutes,
you're gonna take a game like a like a game
change and play the problem that you know, like I
was learning with was harping on on on that play,

(03:48):
which will take you out of the play that's coming
up in the future. So that's something that I tried
to work on from last year's game, just watching the film,
just learning off of what what was going on, just
just being just being able to cross it off, worry
about it later, and just move on and help the
team take a play.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Yeah, that's a great quality to have, that's for sure.
Coach Mora was talking about you in practice catching ball now,
defensive backs, I know you have those routines before the
game and during practice when they're throwing them all up
to you, But do you do anything different in terms
of catching the ball in practice that do you think
has helped you as a defensive back?

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Really just taking the team reps and just treating them
like the game rep, you know, going up the high
point the ball. Like I feel like that just trains
your mind to do it, Like when you do it
during a Tuesday practice and Wednesday practice, it's just kind
of like normal to do it Saturday morning, Saturday night,
Like it's just trained in your head. So I feel
like just taking those, you know, the game rep seriously,
like taking it like every single rep, like like it's

(04:49):
at the ramp, like it's like it's at a you know,
different game, just you know, just taking it seriously preally
just because everything matters, like it like it all like
like a game really just comes around to a few plays,
So every play is that play.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
As a defensive back, what's your favorite thing about when
your your defensive lineman in front of you and your
linebackers start pressuring from the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
My my favorite thing is honestly seeing them get get
those sacks because when they rushed and then and then
you know, they get sex, that makes my job easy,
Like I don't got to cover for you know long.
So it's it's really seeing that that beneficial side of
it is when you know, we all play good. We
all eat. So that's that's the you know, that's the
best thing to do. Look like I love seeing like,

(05:36):
like you know, this past week on on the picks,
had I had like like you know, our linebacker had QB.
You know, pressure is the entire time. So like just
seeing that that that helped me get my you know picks.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Right, I think I'm trying to recall your three picks now.
At least one of them came from pressure. I remember
that the QB kind a step back and then try
to just chucked it up there. Actually, so you took
advantage that. That's a huge obviously pressuring the quarterback from
your guys, and that's gonna be big this week, right, Yeah,
Darien Mensa, this guy he's pretty big. He's pretty darn good.

(06:11):
I mean too Lane, he had twenty one touchdown passes
this year, he's got twenty two. What can you tell
me about this guy?

Speaker 3 (06:18):
It's really like he's a good player, you know, like
you know, we like we seen him last year watching
him now, like he's a great player. But like I
just feel like like this game just just comes down
to who just just really just plays harder, like because
you know, the offense are rolling on both sides, Like
I'm extremely confident, like like in the scheme that you know,
our coaches are, you know, building up now like this is.

(06:41):
It's definitely gonna be one of those you know, dog
fight games and honestly, those are the best games to
be in.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Yeah, and for you come to be there right now
with with six wins looking for number seven is a

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
