Seattle Fleet Week is back, bringing US Naval ships and
Coastguard vessels to the waterfront through July twenty four to three.

forget your government identification. Four beaches in the county are closed.

Regional Animal Services of King County as warning pet owners
about a horrible scam that's making me so mad. Apparently,
these fraudsters contact Peace with Missing Pets who have put
up posters and stuff falsely claiming that their animal has
(01:05):
been found but needs emergency surgery. So then the scammers
tracked down the person and try and get money from
them and say like, oh, they're at the vet. They're
going to go in for surgery. But you have to
forward money. And people are worried that their animal got
hit by a car or something. It's absolutely terrible and
praying on people like that will get you sent straight
to help. Devent's secretary Pete Heggs has said the war
(01:27):
with Ran has cost over thirty seven billion dollars so far.
Experts say the price tag is likely much much higher.
French lawmakers voted yesterday to ban social media for children
under the age of fifteen, making it the first country
in the EU to introduce such a age limit. If
you remember last year, Australia did this for sixteen and
under the UK noound similar restrictions. In June, Spain, Greece
(01:49):
and Denmark also planned to do the same thing. Okay,
I really don't want to confuse anybody, but the thing
that we thought was going to happen has happened with AI,
and much sooner than we thought.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Open AI.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
That's that one of the bigger companies said yesterday that
one of its autonomous AI agents escaped a tightly controlled
environment and compromised the infrastructure of a different AI startup
called Hugging Face.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
No, so it's out.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
So an autonomous AI. Just want to try and explain this, Okay,
because I did a deep dive this morning, so I
actually know what I'm talking about today, which is exciting.
If you ask AI something and in answers, that's not
autonomous AI. Autonomous AI is it's programmed to start to finish,
to do some sort of project and doesn't have any
(02:41):
humans guiding it. Okay, so it's its own deal. And
this autonomous AI escaped whatever cell block they had it
on where it had restrictions. It jumped over that fence
and compromised the infrastructure of a competing AI start.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Well that's a little convenient, isn't it. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Open Ai said it was investigating the incident. They're working
alongside this company called Hugging Face, and they're going to
release more details when the prob is coincidence, right, Well,
hugging Face was just like, hey, we've been hacked, and
then they realized.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
A competing company. Oh yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's
a little convenient for open ai to go, hey, o ay,
I guy escaped and it just happened to go and
trash our competitor. Well, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
I don't know if they're if they meant for it
to happen and now they're trying to save face, or
if it actually did it. But if it actually did it,
it's worse than if they meant to do it. Like
it's just bad, it's bad. Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey inspiring

so we're gonna be up an avalon in Arlington. It's
supposed to be ninety degrees.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
I've offered him water. He has declined.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Why would I decline? I've got water.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
I've offered him a suntan lotion.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
I've just declined. I've got that. Yeah, I've only declined
stuff I already have. Right, I appreciate it, right, but
I have stuff. See. See he's declining, I have the
stuff you're offering. Continues to decline, You're weird.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Operation Red Card, a multi agency law enforcement initiative targeting
repeat violent offenders during the FEFA World Cup, resulted in
almost twenty arrests and the seizure of multiple firearms. A
wildfire in the area of the Colville Reservation has exceeded
seventy one thousand acres, as much as as much of
the state feels an impact of the heat wave this week.
(05:13):
A lightning strike was the cause for the Kaiser Canyon
fire on July sixteenth. Level two and three evacuations are
in place. NFL Film Cruise have arrived. It's the filming
of HBO's Hard Knocks training Camp with the Seattle Seahawks.
I've been waiting twenty years for this. Filming will begin
Friday at the facility in Renton as they report for camp.
(05:34):
The five episode series will feature of course, coach Mike McDonald,
Sam Darnold, JSN, Devin Witherspoon, and Byron Murphy. Hawks will
become the first defending Super Bowl champions to be featured
on Hard Knocks since the series debuted with the Ravens
in two.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Thousand and one.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
When can you expect this to turn around and get
on HBO August fourth? So they don't take a lot
of time to do their editing or they've just got
like hundreds of people on it. The US has already
shattered a grim measles record with months still left in
the year. The nation has reported over twenty two hundred
measles cases as of yesterday, surpassing last year's entire year's
(06:11):
total and marking the highest annual count since nineteen ninety one.
The World Health Organization declared measles eliminated back in two thousand.
World Cup Final got sixty three million views across Fox
Telemundo and Peacock, which smashes the record for soccer viewership
in the US. Iconic nineteen eighty seven cult hit film
RoboCop is being rebooted for the small screen by Amazon Prime.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
That could be very cool. Maybe it could be. Here's
the worst part about that. If you go back and
watch that movie, it kind of holds up. Yeah. But
the gritty, nasty, crappy stuff on TV and the criminal
and everything, that's what we've becomeed.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
It's the norm.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Yeah, that's the norm. I know. So I'll be curious
to see how they make it worse for the future. Now,
future in what was it, eighty six, eighty seven, eighty seven,
how they predicted the future to be is exactly what's
become of us.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Well, the guy from Saw is behind this new Rebels,
So we've got a visionary for sure. On TV today,
my grandfather Charles Manson is on Hulu, and the streaming
premier of Masters of the Universe is on Amazon. And
Sports Mariners lost yesterday. They go again with the Reds
today at twelve forty. Sounders visit Austin tonight and Storm
hosts The Links in their final game before the All
(07:29):
Star play.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
Your chance to win one thousand dollars text to five
two three on nine bender that dig during time flies
was unnecessary? What dig? That's what I did, That's what
I asked. So I texted back what dig? And they
responded at the Ohio State Yeah, go Buckeyes.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yeah, We're not responsible for Jeffrey Dahmer. They push out
a lot of students who never do anything like that,
like me, Jody Brothers alumnus class of nineteen eighty eight
or nineteen.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Nine alumnus, alumni alumnus. But during time Flies you quickly disassociated.
You said, you're like, no association. I'm like, no, no, no,
no no. It was on this date in nineteen ninety
ninety one that Jeffrey Dahmer was arrested. Yeah, and he
went to Ohio State, as did our Jodie Brothers.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Truly awful story. You gotta watch that Netflix serious. I'm good, Yeah,
it was.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
I mean, I know what happened, Okay, I thought I
knew too. There's more important things to watch. Yeah. Married
at First Sight season twenty, season twenty. Do you know
what the show is about? It could care less with
the show's about no hold on, hold on, one second,
(08:45):
Hold on one second, huh. Just to set the stage.
I though I have been on a half a dozen
reality shows, I can't stand reality TV because, being on
the inside, I know how set up it is. Sure,
(09:05):
I know how the producers do what they do. None
of it's real. Right, So when you come to me
and go, oh my god, Married at First Sight the
twentieth season here in Seattle, your biggest thing is that
they make Seattle look horrible. Yes, okay, this is my problem.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Yes, so if you've never watched Married at First Site,
that's fine. It's not my favorite reality show. They have
these couples who sign up for the show, and then
when the matchmakers feel like they've found a good match,
they come to the person. They go, we found you
a husband, or we found you away, and the person
like whoo, and they go and they meet them on
(09:44):
their wedding day. That's the first time they meet at
the altar, and then the show follows them as they
live together and they are in a little group with
the other married couples and they see if the marriage
can survive. Now, Surprisingly, and here's the little buck to
your opinion about none of this is real. Surprisingly, more
(10:05):
than a handful of these marriages have stuck.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Well it's in their contract. No, it's not.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
They have stuck and had children. Like the love is
blind the married at first sight, some of them do stick.
So you never know. Is there a chance that some
people actually want to find true love?
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (10:19):
But do most people want to just be on TV?
Speaker 3 (10:22):
Most likely? How how long do the camera crews follow
these couples they get married? Great question, and then thank
you and then like the cameras shut off like a
year in like how long less than that?
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (10:36):
All right, Well I wasn't sure if like the cameras
followed them for a year and then they chopped it
all up and presented it as a package.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
I feel like it's on TV. I feel like it's
more like four or five months. You know, the first
thing you do is get married, then you go straight
to your honeymoon where you get to know the person.
Then you come back and you live in an apartment.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
So when does the viewer pick up on the relationship
at the altar? At the altar? Yeah, so we have
no backstory in any of these people before they get married.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Another great question, Benry, that's two thank you in the
first episodes of the season, you get to know the person.
They show you the backstory, they introduce you to the people.
The people show where they live and how they live,
and you meet some of their friends and family. So
the wedding episodes, the first like two episodes are just
(11:22):
meeting the people. Now, this brings me to the Seattle people.
We've got like seven couples. A couple of them are okay, Like,
for example, there's Bell jo Lye and Mecca.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
Bell.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Jolie's a singer, She's adorable, very cute. Mecca very cute guy,
very fashionable. He's a garbage man, and he's got like
personal problems with it, with his worth. He doesn't think
he's like he knows when he tells someone he's a
sanitation not garbage. He empties honeybuckets. When he tells someone
that he's a sanitation worker. That comes with, you know,
a preconceived notion, and he feels bad about himself about that.
(11:55):
They're an adorable couple. Mecca's dad, on the other hand,
needs to not get on them anymore because this dude
wants all the attention. Firms one embarrassment. Then you've got
Caitlin and Devin, very cute. He's in a band. I
don't even remember what she does. Hope they make it.
Then you've got Courtney and Nick.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Oh, Courtney and Nick.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
Courtney needs to shut up in her pre interview, where
is she from? Here? Like somewhere I don't remember. It'll
give you specifics sometimes they do. Maybe I wasn't paying attention.
It's the Seattle area. She is so annoying and makes
a lot of really egregious statements that I'm not gonna
(12:34):
I'm not gonna mention what they all pertain to. But
her husband to be Nick, I thought, Wow, that's a
handsome guy. And you know what, he thinks he's handsome too.
That's why this is his fourth reality show. He's also
been on Perfect Match, Battle Camp, the Circle three shows
I've never watched, but this dude obviously just wants to
(12:54):
be on TV. Like if you're Courtney and you're meeting
your husband for the first time and you're like, oh,
he looks familiar, And when you find out this is
his fourth reality show, obviously he doesn't want to really
get married.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Then you've got.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Tory and Philippe. Tory is a beautiful woman and Philippe
is maybe the most annoying person I've ever seen on TV.
Maybe he has charm, but the way he self identifies
is like loves to party and like has cheated on
multiple women and thinks he's really good. He's like, when
I was a kid, I wasn't very good looking, but
now look at me. Jody, Yes, Bender, what is your.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Favorite reality show? Because you preface this by saying ninety
ninety day fiance.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
Yes, let me get to the real problem. We've got
two more couples, okay, and you need to know this
because this is Seattle Bender, You've got Nicky and Sean.
When this woman, who is beautiful and I think she's
a professional successful, she comes to the altar, her husband
(13:56):
to be is standing right there. She goes, when's my husban,
I'm gonna show up. He's like, I'm here, and she's
like The look on her face was pure sadness. You
could see her dying inside. She did not find him attractive.
And then he went on. He seems like a perfectly
nice guy, but he made lots of weird, bad taste jokes.
I don't think I can say I'm on the air.
Speaker 5 (14:16):
No.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
Probably Finally, oh, good Adam. We get to Adam.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Okay, I'm going to post on the Jodian Bender Facebook
page the douchiest person in all of Seattle.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
Wow, his name is Adam? Does he get a sash?
Speaker 2 (14:36):
He lives He lives in a dado on Mercer Island
on the water, but he makes it seem like he
lives in some waterfront mansion. All this dude talks about
is jet skiing. He's like, I just hop on the
jet skiing, take it anywhere I need to go, Go
play pickleball, go to the gym, hop on the jet ski.
And then his friends were like, what if your wife
to be doesn't like jet ski? He goes, I've trained
(14:56):
other women. I'll train her. You're gonna train her. You're
gonna train And then she shows up and she's like,
do you like to drink? And he's like, I don't drink.
It's poison.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
How everybody like jent skiing? How long has Season twenty
been on the air. There's three episodes, three episodes in. Yeah.
How many more episodes are there?
Speaker 2 (15:10):
I hope there's one hundred, but I think there's probably
there's usually about sixteen or twenty episodes.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
Whoah, Yeah, it's a lot. You're able to update us.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
I am, oh good, I'm very excited. Adam is the problem.
If you're outside of Seattle, please understand we're not all
like this. Also, I guess this dude was like Henrea
and every woman was complaining about him.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
And there's a.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Facebook group called are We Dating the same Guy? And
I guess he showed up like six or seven five.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
With his Mecca is adorable. He is tex Courtney's nuts.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Yeah, she's with the guy who's on his fourth reality show.
No red flags there.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
So she's nuts for not knowing this, or do we
as she's not separately, she's nuts separately. Yeah, all right.
You get a lot of people, you know that they're
all from Seattle, so they're probably all listening to the
show right now.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
That's fine. Wow, I'm not the only one who's sang
this stuff. In the pre interviews, people identify themselves, you know,
And Courtney's like, I've been I've had some long relationships
and I've been cheated on by two people. And then
you know, if you're a reality TV watcher, you know
that she's gonna have some sort of insecurities that are
going to come out, but then her husband is like,
I've been on four reality doesn't You're like, oh damn girl,
(16:26):
it's not even your fault now, So like this matchup
is bad.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
Married at first sight? Yeah, the twentieth season here Seattle.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
It was fun watching Love Is Blind when it was
Seattle because you get to see them in the places
that you go to. They always shoot at Carry Park,
they always shoot. You know, there are a lot of places. Sure,
it's all the yeah, stereotypical Seattle spots.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Right.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
I like that, So I'll keep you appraise, please do
I will showdown that Huget sound showdown. Brad and Silverdale
is sitting on six wins, three more and he gets
a Hall of Fame game.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
Hi Brad, Hi Brad? Brad? Brad is Brad? Is this
your favorite chant? It's fun? Right?
Speaker 2 (17:12):
It feels very Revenge of the Nerds to me, I
feel like one of the bad guys.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
H Brad, You're gonna be taking on Tricia in body
leg ki, Tricia, Hey, good morning morning. You get your
chant if you win. I love that. Do it so
you'll get bragging rights to be a champion. You'll get

(17:40):
Jody has the questions this morning. You guys are gonna
buzz in with your name when you know the answer.
First person of five wins, good luck.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
What is the only country that begins with the letter oh?
Speaker 3 (17:56):
Brad Brad oh? Mon?
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Is that wild, one stinking country that begins with oh?
I couldn't believe it. I cross referenced it. What name
is given to the fruit of an oak tree brad.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Acorn?
Speaker 2 (18:14):
How many zeros are there in the number one trillion?
Bender twelve twelve is correct Edmonton is the capital of
which Canadian province Brad alberta scoreboard Brad.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
Has three, Bender has one? Trisha a very nice person.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
What is the traditional decorative sash worn around the middle
of a Japanese kimono called.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Bender?
Speaker 2 (18:54):
I'll pay you one hundred American dollars if you know this.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
It's a kimono sash. Nope, it is an ob It's
a kimono sash. You're just getting technical.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
I know what is the thin layer of foam appearing
on top of an espresso called.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Bender? I'll give you one espresso foam.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
It's the Crema trema in Disney's Pinocchio. What animal does
Pinocchio get trapped inside?
Speaker 3 (19:26):
Brad Brad whale?
Speaker 2 (19:31):
Yes, he got he got trapped inside a donkey. He
got trapped inside a whale. He got turned into a donkey.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
He was trapped inside of okay, a whale. Yeah? Oh
you mean like emotionally he was, well, he turned got
turned into a donkey.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
Right, trapped inside? No, he was physically trapped in scoreboard.
That's very deep, though it's a deeper meaning, right, Brad,
isn't Bender deep?
Speaker 4 (19:57):
Well? I was kind of thinking the same way when
he said it. I was, well, it could be the donkey,
it could be the whale.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Right, what do you mean?
Speaker 4 (20:03):
I mean emotionally?
Speaker 3 (20:04):
Yes? Right?
Speaker 2 (20:04):
So if Brad had said donkey and I didn't take it,
then we'd have a problem, right, because then we could
argue it.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
The real question is where's Tricia? Tricia good girl? Oh yeah,
I'm here, right here. What's the score? Brad has four?
Bender has one.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Tricia is right here and available to answer the following question.
I Am the Great Gazoo was an alien in which

second Noos update. Now Hey, it's Power by Carter Subero.
Speaker 2 (21:13):

Speaker 3 (21:19):

off your chest. It's Jody and Vendor's Pet Peeve Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
Well it's coming up, so you got to use the
talk back feature and get it off your chest. Whatever
is bugging you doesn't have to be the most important thing,
but if it's bugging you, it's good for Pet Peeve Wednesday.
So hey, it's gonna be very hot today. Upper eighties,
low nineties. Relief comes tomorrow, but in the meantime, stay
safe and keep your pets safe and keep your oldies safe.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Seattle Fleet Week is back.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
Us NAVA Ships Coast Guard vessels will be at the
waterfront through July twenty fourth. Free public ship tours take
place at Peer sixty six beginning today.
Speaker 3 (21:56):

Speaker 2 (21:58):
Regional Animal Services of King County is warning pet owners
about a new scam in which people who have missing
pets and they have flyers and stuff. These scammers are
tracking down your phone numbers listed on the flyers, posing
as shelter staff, saying your animal has been found and
needs emergency surgery, so you have to authorize a payment.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
How fucking evil is your heart?
Speaker 2 (22:20):
I mean, I understand the scams, the romance scams, I
get them all. But like someone puts up a sign
that their dog is missing, and you're gonna call and
be like, hey, uh, we're from Regional Animal Service to
King County. We have your dogs and body needs surgery.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
I'll be there in tutes. I'll be there in ten minutes. Yeah,

show up, ask for a picture, let me see. I'll
come to see the dogs.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
Roller old bones out there. Don't give anybody any money.
Got it's so upsetting. NFL film crews have arrived in
Seattle ahead of the filming of HBO's Hard Knocks training
camp with the Seattle Seahawks. They're gonna be at the
Seahawks facility as the players report for training camp, and
then the season will premiere on HBO Max August fourth.
Speaker 3 (23:01):
I can't wait to watch.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Defense Secretary Hegsas says the war with the Ran has
cost over thirty seven billion dollars so far. Experts say
the price tag is likely much much higher. Three British
Airways pilots fell ill with suspected food poisoning after a
stopover in India, leaving one incapacitated at thirty thousand feet.
One of the pilots put on auction during oxygen during
the ten and a half hour flight from High Hyderabad
(23:27):
to Heathrow, while the other two continued operating the aircraft
despite being unwell. If you've ever had food poisoning, I
couldn't imagine standing up, let alone piloting in an aircraft.
I'm going to post this story on the Jodian Bender
Facebook page. World Cup Final got sixty three million viewers
across Fox, Telemundo and Peacock, smashing the record for soccer
viewership in the US on TV Today, my grandfather Charles
(23:50):
Manson is on Hulu.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
I'd ask what that's about, but I think I'm good.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
A woman found out her grandfather was Charles Manson, so
she made a documentary about it.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Due.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Yeah, how does that even work? Also, the live streaming
premiere of Masters of the Universe is on Amazon.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
In Sports live streaming Premiere, did I say live? Yeah,
we men streaming premiere. Do it live. We're doing it.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
Live places everybody, It's not live. Don't be stupid, people,
you can't do that live. His Sports Mariners fell to
the Red sporty two yesterday. They go get in at
twelve forty. Sounders will visit Austin. Tonight's Storm hosts the
Links again in their final game before the All Star break.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Pet Peeve Wednesday. Use the talkback feature on the iHeartRadio
app that little red microphone. Complain about whatever you want
and we'll put you and your complaint on the air.
Your chance, Jody and Vendor Text to five two three

that's it. Just people, me too. I get that.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
It's time for America's favorite past time, that replaining get.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
It off your chest. It's Jody and Vendor's pet peeve Wednesday.
Speaker 6 (24:56):
What do you got My biggest pet peeve right now
is ca I am fifty seven years old and trying
to date again for the first time in twenty years.
And let me tell you, if I have to see
one more guy with a dead animal on his face,
I tell you I might just stay single.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
Forever with a dead animal on his face. She's referring
to mustaches, facial hair.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
Yeah, right, there are a lot of guys with facial hair.
If it's not your thing, you definitely are cutting out
a lot of good dudes. Plus, if you find a
guy who has facial hair, just you know, get your
hooks in and then convince him to shave.
Speaker 3 (25:34):
It right as someone with a beard, Yeah, that's not
gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
And you look fantastic with your beard, thank you.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
I just look like I have an old dead animal
on my face. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
I prefer you with a beard. No offense to non
beard you.
Speaker 5 (25:52):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
You see talkback feature on the iHeartRadio app for your
pet peeves.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
Hey, Jodium bender, my prep peeve is and you have
transition sunglasses, So transition glasses and it's sunny, I like
it is today and they do no good because the
UV lights reflected by the windshield and so you're blind anyway.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
That sounds annoying, they said, reflected by the way she
dropped the F bomb.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
Yeah it did for a second. Yeah, well, yeah, you
can't have transition glasses while staring at your windshield because
your windshield is already V protected. Yeah, so it's not
gonna You're not gonna get It's when you step outside
the car that to transition lenses.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
And that's pretty cool. Transition lenses are cool. I have
a little respect for transition respect.
Speaker 7 (26:41):
My pet peeved this week is vehicle issues. After finally
getting my car back from the shop after not having
it for two and a half weeks, I had it
for like four days and it is back in the
shop because the power steering rack is leaking again. This
will be the four power steering rack they put in
this thing. What the heck? I am so over this.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
The same shop four times.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
I'm assuming you're not paying for this anymore.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
I certainly hope not. And is it even the power
steering rack if they keep replacing it and the problem
keeps happening. I know mechanic, but it sounds like maybe
it's something else.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
I am so not a mechanic. I'm not even sure
what a power steering rack is. It's underneath. That's why
I've never get is that the steering column.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
No, the steering column is something else.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
The power steering rack. Yeah, I got nothing. Sounds cool.
Speaker 5 (27:40):
Good morning, Jody and Bender. Happy Wednesday. Uh, Pet Peeve
neighbors dogs that bark constantly. There's a home behind me.
They have a large piece of property and they have
this dog that I'm assuming is like a farm guard
dog and the thing barks all the time at everything,
(28:04):
doesn't matter what it is or the time of day,
and they.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
Don't Aldian Bender. Every Wednesday, we let you take advantage
of the talkback feature on the iHeartRadio app. That little
red microphone right there on your screen. You get the
station on your phone, you hit that red microphone, your
phone records you and the message shows up here in
studio and we let you complain and let the masses
hear about it.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
Good morning, Jodian Bender. Man, I have a pet Peeve
and it's been annoying me for years, and I mean
like years. I'm a single father, I have three daughters.
The school district that my kids go to start the
school year the week before Labor Day weekend? What on
earth school should start following Labor Day weekend? As it
(28:48):
should be.
Speaker 3 (28:51):
My two older kids, Jordan Bailey grew up in the
Kent School District and school always started Thursday before Labor Day, always, always,
And I didn't have a problem with it, because I
don't know what the thought process is behind it, but
(29:12):
I always thought it was good because the kids would
start the Thursday before Labor Day. They'd get two days
of school and then get three days off and then
come back, so they eased into the school year as
opposed to starting them on the Monday and then they
have a full five days and it's like, oh my god.
So this way they had Thursday and Friday, three day weekend,
(29:32):
come back, will four day week and then a five
day week, so they eat that. That was I have
no idea if that's the actual way.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
I get it, and it's good theory, but a lot
of people like to take vacations and then Labor Day
is the end of it, and so people don't want
to come back early from their vacations just for two
days of nothingness.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
Both are good, we're both right, we have a lot
of complaints. We do. We have a lot guys.
Speaker 8 (30:00):
Happy pet peek Wednesday. Here is my pet peeves. Teenagers
just straight up teenagers. They don't want to tell you
where they're going. They want their independence. They don't pick
up after themselves, they don't help cook, clean anything. And
then they want your checkbook because they're still your children.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
Oh, I hear you. My kid is becoming way more
helpful than he used to be. But he cannot pick
up his own socks, and he takes them off and
throws them in weird spots too. It's like they have
to be flung into the corners behind the couch. It's
like I find socks frickin' everywhere.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
He flings socks.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
Yeah, he's a sock flinger.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
That's weird.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
It comes downstairs and he sits on the couch and
then boom, socks have to come off. It's annoying, but
as I'm saying it out loud, it sounds kind of cute.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
So make sure that you're staying inside as much as
possible today, right bender.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
I'm going golfing or.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
Or here's an idea. Wait for the hottest day of
the year and then make good on your Radiothon golf package.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
I'm going golfing. I'll be a but Avalon Golf Links,
the Avalon Golf Links in up and Scatchy County Avalon,
and it's it's in Arlington. What you're not going anywhere?
Oh my god, Oh my god. You're gonna drive a
car up there? Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Right, you're fine. You're gonna be driving a little golf cart.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
Right, Oh my god. Yes, at least we'll be riding.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
And there's a refreshment girl, right, and she'll roll up.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
I don't remember, I think so.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
Isn't that part of the fun, buying like a well
some weener and a drink.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
Off the No, you get the hot dog at the turn, Okay,
which is the turn which is in between the ninth
and the tenth holes. Okay, yeah, so you do the
front nine, grab a hot he's a back nine.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
God, I've been learning so much about golf this summer.
Josh and I were watching The Hawk, the new Will Ferrell.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
I have not watched that golf. It's not great now
it doesn't the trailer for it doesn't appear.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
I had high hopes. I love him so much, I'll
watch everything he does. But this is the story is
just even too stupid for me.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
And I have the same character, is it, Like, No,
it's just the same.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
I mean, yeah, it's just even the plot is so dumb.
It's fun to see, it's fun to see Will Ferrell,
but it's really not worth the time anyway. Josh has
been yelling at me because I'm.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
Like, what's a birdie? Again? What's this?
Speaker 2 (32:33):
And you know he's into golf now and he is
not patient with me as I learn all the terminology.
So thank you bender for being more of an adult
than my fifteen year old son.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
Well by answering your questions.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Yeah, like if I asked, Josh, what's the turn you go?
It's betweeted all Like I'm supposed to know. I'm trying
to learn my golf.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
Look for it for me to express an opinion on
your parenting skills. Yeah, but your kid yelling at you
when you ask a simple question, that's on you. Yeah,
thank you.
Speaker 2 (33:07):
Say one more mean thing about my kid and watch
me launch myself.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
As still gotting when it's compared to the peak twenty
twenty five. The Automotive Year twenty twenty five, Just zero
point six percent of all cars on the road new
(33:31):
cars have a stick shift. Yeah, compared to the height
when it was nearly one, or it was nearly four
out of every ten cars on the road had a
stick that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
Does it feel crazy that it feels like it's about
to be entirely phased out other than the sports car people,
of course.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
Well, it's not something that's wildly done anymore. It's sort
of like we all learned cursive in school, and now
none of the kids know cursive, and it's just one
of those things. Same with driving stick cursive is unnecessary
because people barely wright with their with a pen anymore,
and nobody needs to know how to drive a stick anymore.
Speaker 3 (34:13):
I saw a jeep that had a tire cover, and
the tire cover read the gen X Ultimate Theft Deterrent right,
and it was the diagram of a stick shift. For sure.
I have a stick shift in one of my cars,
(34:34):
and and and it's a British car, so the reverse
is actually opposite of where it's supposed to be, so
that screws.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
You up right out of the gate. Yeah, no teaching
anybody on that, And it's like that, that doesn't happen.
I haven't driven stick in a really long time. A
couple ex boyfriends taught me on a couple of white Jeeps.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
I was just gonna say, the dude in the white
jeep more than one dude. Yeah, I know there are
white jeeps were very popular, and so was that. But
I couldn't drive around here, not safely. Like if I
was out in a meadow somewhere on somebody's property, I'd
give it a shot, but I would burn anybody's transmissions.
(35:13):
I learned how to drive on a stick. Yeah, that's weird.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
A lot of people did. It's just not It's not
popular anymore. It used to be you had to learn
how to drive stick just in case you had to
drive your friend's car. But now even your friend's car
is in sticks, So unless you're a race car driver,
it's just not important.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
Experts say it's because the automatic transmission shift faster than
a human can do it.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
Many of my cars have had the paddle shifting option. Yeah,
and I don't really know how to drive stick, but
I had. I sometimes do the paddle shifter just to see.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
It's just humor. Yeah, and then I'm like the car.
The car will take over if you don't know what
you're saying. Of course, it says most automakers subar U, Honda, BMW, Volkswagen,
Toyota have all dropped manual only A two only about
two dollar and vehicles still off of the option, including
the Ford Mustang. The CEO of Ford has vowed, quote,
(36:08):
out of our cold dead hands, will a Mustang not
have a stick option? Yeah? An option?
Speaker 2 (36:15):
You know the Daily Bender Gazette is so weird when
there's no like naked guy trapped in a five two.
Speaker 3 (36:23):
Nine from the Daily Bender because that story that was
more of a stat than a story about a naked
dude or a naked woman losing her mind jumping on
the hood of a card and throwing hot sauce at somebody,
or a combination of this. Uh. The manual transmission has
been all but wiped from new cars except for like
(36:44):
a handful, Like the Ford Mustang gives you an option,
A couple of different cars give you option.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
Seems like a jeep Wrangler should always come in an option.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
Of a text. My very first stick shift was a
three on the tree. That would be a three gear.
So that's a really old car text, a stick shift
vehicle gets better gas miles than automatic text. Funny cars
and dragsters have stick shifts. Yeah, I mean, if you're
(37:12):
racing cars, they should all have them.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
I was.
Speaker 3 (37:15):
I was telling Jody, I have a British car and
it has a stick but it's a six speed, but
the reverse is opposite of where it should be. So
if you're looking at, you know, like the knob of
a six shift, you have one two three across the
(37:35):
top four five and in my case six along the
bottom reverse is not bottom right. Reverse is up to
the left beyond first gear. Yeah, they're looking at the knob,
it's reverse one two three and then bottom four five six.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
I hear what you're saying, but it also sounds.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
Like we were text. I drive a Yaris stick And
when you told the story of the other day in
the gazette about the yards going one hundred miles an hour,
I was laughing because no way.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
Yeah, the senator, right, or the mayor or somebody who
is going to city hall, and they were gonna fight it,
right because her two hundred that the Yars from like
two thousand and two had over two hundred thousand miles
on it. The clocked are going one hundred and seven.
Speaker 3 (38:29):
Are we done? We have everything? We've done?
Speaker 2 (38:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (38:33):
All right? Yeah tomorrow, more stuff.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
More stuff tomorrow. That's a guarantee.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
I have to go golfing. I hope you have a
free time on the hottest day of the year. I'm
paying off one of the radio thon auction packages. We're
going up to Avalon Golf Links in Arlington. And I
don't Jody, this has shimmer in it. Jody finds it rude.
Do you want to shimmer that she's offering me water
and she's offering me sunscreen. So I have all of that, okay,
(39:00):
But because I say no to what you're offering, choice
is getting annoyed.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
It's not annoyed, it's just that my feelings are hurt.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
I want to thank McDonald's for coming by with their
mcvalue see through bags. Yeah, and food stadium bag. And
according to our salesperson who just came in, if we
have this right, you can bring this bag into t
Mobile Park with the food. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
All right, yeah, no, check your ballparks outside food and
beverage policy before game day. Rules vary by stadium. But
this is great.
Speaker 3 (39:36):
So it was very nice of them. Text. Doesn't Jody
know that suber Hu's offer a stick shift?
Speaker 4 (39:42):
No?
Speaker 2 (39:42):
I never asked, but that's cool. It's not part of
my conversation. And can I get this in stick shift?
Do you want an instick shift?
Speaker 7 (39:51):
No?
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Wrap the show with your request. Good morning, Judy and Bender.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
I have a request for you guys.
Speaker 6 (40:00):
Can y'all play Boogie Fever by the Silvers because damn,
I haven't heard that film.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
I haven't heard
