five pounds for a long time. But more importantly, I'm
not gonna be able to put my arms up in
the air and guess what's up in the air everything.
I don't know if your house is like this too,
But it's funny because they say, like, put all the
stuff that you use regularly on the countertops. Well, A,
I use a lot of stuff regularly, and b it's

all up in shelves that I especially in the kitchen.
So for people who like declut countertops, like I'm one
of those people, everything's coming down.

It is hell, But you know, on top of everything else,
I know, I was just going to say, there's worse things.
I'm also gathering all of the things that I'm gonna
need for my surgery, and I'm going to try and
shoot a get Ready with me for a double messed
ectomy video today so you can see all the weird
stuff that I have gathered, like grabbers and pillows that
guard your chest, which is actually pretty important because the

dogs are going to be bouncing off of me. Sure,
speaking of the dogs walking the dogs in the neighborhood.
And I guess it was the Seattle Times article that
informed a lot of the people who live in the
neighborhood about me and what's going on with the breast cancer.
Not my friends. My friends obviously knew beforehand, but you know,

people in the neighborhood who recognize you, know who you are,
the people you go hi and just keep it moving.
So it's so weird now walking the dogs in the
neighborhood because oh my god, that's Jody, and people be
like about your breath cancer, and I'm so grateful for

the wishes, but I also I have the heart of
a comedian, as you know, so I'm just like, it's
so awkward because people want to say something, but like,
what do you say when we're not close friends. It's
just like, Hi, read about the breast cancer. Sorry about that.
My friend passed away of that, and I'm like, oh god,

thank you for telling me that. It's just like one
even more awkward conversation after the next. And a lot
of my friends have been coming to my house to
spend time together and walk the dogs in the neighborhood,
and people have bared witness to how funny it is.
So thanks to the Seattle Times for making it even
weirder to walk around my neighborhood. Now, the third update

I want to give you is potentially the funniest one.
So when you go into surgeries, you can't have any
moisturizer on. You can't have any thing in your hair,
like no conditioner, no nothing. So people with curly hair
know that this is horrible for us because we usually
put stuff in our hair. I'm not gonna be able

to shower for two days after the surgery. It's gonna
get real gross. So with the double and mistectomy, you
can't lie on your side or flat on your stomach.
You've gotta lie on your back, not just during the
surgery but after. I after I'm out for six weeks
on my back. So the best thing I can do
is put my hair in a braid, not just a
(26:35):
French braid, because that will hurt lying on the pillow.
Little Dutch girl braids like down the sides, like two
behind the ear. Sure bender. You've known me for a
long time, have you ever seen my hair and braids?
I know you know why that is because you can't
because it's never Oh of course I can't. I don't

know how to braid. But also my hair has never
been in a braid in my life, and that's fifty

have to reach up to get and bringing them down
onto the counter.

Because after your surgery, you're not gonna able to do that.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Correct, I'm not gonna be able to lift anything over
five pounds for a long time. But more importantly, I'm
not gonna be able to put my arms up in
the air and guess what's up in the air everything.
I don't know if your house is like this too,
But it's funny because they say, like, put all the
stuff that you use regularly on the countertops. Well, A,
I use a lot of stuff regularly, and b it's
(23:53):
all up in shelves that I especially in the kitchen.
So for people who like declut countertops, like I'm one
of those people, everything's coming down.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
So pure hell.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
It is hell, But you know, on top of everything else,
I know, I was just going to say, there's worse things.
I'm also gathering all of the things that I'm gonna
need for my surgery, and I'm going to try and
shoot a get Ready with me for a double messed
ectomy video today so you can see all the weird
stuff that I have gathered, like grabbers and pillows that
guard your chest, which is actually pretty important because the
(24:25):
dogs are going to be bouncing off of me. Sure,
speaking of the dogs walking the dogs in the neighborhood.
And I guess it was the Seattle Times article that
informed a lot of the people who live in the
neighborhood about me and what's going on with the breast cancer.
Not my friends. My friends obviously knew beforehand, but you know,
(24:47):
people in the neighborhood who recognize you, know who you are,
the people you go hi and just keep it moving.
So it's so weird now walking the dogs in the
neighborhood because oh my god, that's Jody, and people be
like about your breath cancer, and I'm so grateful for
(25:10):
the wishes, but I also I have the heart of
a comedian, as you know, so I'm just like, it's
so awkward because people want to say something, but like,
what do you say when we're not close friends. It's
just like, Hi, read about the breast cancer. Sorry about that.
My friend passed away of that, and I'm like, oh god,
(25:32):
thank you for telling me that. It's just like one
even more awkward conversation after the next. And a lot
of my friends have been coming to my house to
spend time together and walk the dogs in the neighborhood,
and people have bared witness to how funny it is.
So thanks to the Seattle Times for making it even
weirder to walk around my neighborhood. Now, the third update
(25:54):
I want to give you is potentially the funniest one.
So when you go into surgeries, you can't have any
moisturizer on. You can't have any thing in your hair,
like no conditioner, no nothing. So people with curly hair
know that this is horrible for us because we usually
put stuff in our hair. I'm not gonna be able
(26:14):
to shower for two days after the surgery. It's gonna
get real gross. So with the double and mistectomy, you
can't lie on your side or flat on your stomach.
You've gotta lie on your back, not just during the
surgery but after. I after I'm out for six weeks
on my back. So the best thing I can do
is put my hair in a braid, not just a
(26:35):
French braid, because that will hurt lying on the pillow.
Little Dutch girl braids like down the sides, like two
behind the ear. Sure bender. You've known me for a
long time, have you ever seen my hair and braids?
I know you know why that is because you can't
because it's never Oh of course I can't. I don't
(26:56):
know how to braid. But also my hair has never
been in a braid in my life, and that's fifty
years braidless. So we got to get this braid in
my head, or these two little braids, in my head
on Wednesday, and we can't just leave it to chance,
so we have to practice braiding my hair.
Speaker 4 (27:12):
Are you going to go into surgery with your hair braided? Yes,
that's the whole point, got it.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Yeah, So then when I get out of surgery, I
don't look like Diana Ross on a bad day because
I yeah, because I can't use my arms to do
anything with my hair, so it's got to get out
of my waist. So today is hair braiding day and
bring everything down from the upper shelves day, so hopefully
I'll get out. They get ready with me video.
Speaker 4 (27:35):
I so wish that you had some meta glasses while
you were walking the dog. My god, we could see
and hear the awkwardness of your neighbors.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
I know it's so deeply kind of people to want
to say something, but also you know, sorry, Now your
breast cancer is.
Speaker 5 (27:53):
Like standing the globe to find the noose you didn't
know you needed to know, you know, no, Gazette, now
here's bender brought to.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
You by Olympic.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
Better you, better life.
Speaker 4 (28:08):
Oh no, no, no, no, I mean, if you're a professional,
how do you do this by accident?
Speaker 1 (28:14):

Is there not some sort of redundancy in the doctor's office.
To make sure that you're working on the right thing.
You're operating on the right thing, you're removing the right thing.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
Uh uh.
Speaker 4 (28:30):
A woman in Florida, Maine, a jury has awarded her
seventeen million dollars in a landmark medical malpractice case. She
went in for surgery at the Northern Light Inland Hospital
for routine surgery to remove a benign overian cyst. Okay,
(28:56):
the doctor instead remove her entire healthy bladder. Her bladder
her bladder damn. She later returned in severe pain. Unable
to relieve herself. She spent over eight months relying on
tubes draining directly from her kidneys. Surgeons in Boston rebuilt
(29:24):
her bladder using intestinal tissue. However, she still requires daily catheters.
The jury unanimously awarded her seventeen million dollars.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
What would be a reason that you would remove somebody's bladder?
Speaker 4 (29:44):
I don't like. I mean, you've heard stories there, You've
heard stories about you know, you're removing the wrong leg
like urban legend type stuff.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
But wow, yeah.
Speaker 4 (30:02):
Like, at what point during the surgery did like nobody
like the doctor's assistant, the surgeon's assistant. I mean, hey,
clearly we're not smart enough to be even in the
field to discuss close as we can get to it
is reading stories like that.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
I thought you were going to say that she went
in for a sister removal and they removed her uterus,
because that's all connected. The bladder is like, man, that's
not even a part of the whole deal.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
Is that like a farther away.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
It's the over ease connected by the fallopian tube to
the uterus, where the baby is over here somewhere. I mean,
it's in the sin you know, it's in the THECIN.
I can't imagine a reason to remove a bladder other
than an extreme like muscle invasive bladder cancer way. And
(30:54):
then you would think that they would have lots and
lots of people who would be in on that. So
that's really really upsetting.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
Who knew that? During the gazette we would cross reference
another bit.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
Check in with your body, touch it around, if you
see something happening, report it to your doctor. It's health corner.
