Speaker 1 (00:00):
Learned how to prevent and reverse disease, overcome common health obstacles,
and live to your fullest God given potential. This is
Maximized Living Radio with Doctor Greg O'Neil Healthcare on a
mission sponsored by lit Its Family Chiropractic.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Hey, guys, welcome to another week to Maximize Living Radio.
Your host, Doctor Greg O'Neill. This is going to be
a fun, kind of a unique show today. This is
going to be called Chiropractic Unplugged. If I'm going to
be talking about like unintended, I guess the bare bones
of chiropractic, what it is, how it works, and then
just like giving you like the truth behind the scenes,

(00:40):
you know, clearing all the smoke, all the marketing, all
the stuff that's out there, what you think you may
know about chiropractic, and just like what it actually is
and how it actually works and how you can apply
it simply to your life. And then maybe more interestingly,
because a lot of people like this kind of thing,
I'm going to share my own stories going through chiropractice,

(01:02):
going to different chiropractice and how that's impacted me personally
and my practice and really, like I said, just my
entire life. So I grew up in eastern Ontario, Canada,
little town called Morrisburg, Ontario. Only twenty three hundred people
live there, so very small. And if you know small
town living, like one stop there's one stop light, and

(01:26):
now there's not even a stoplight. There's one of those
like traffic circles. So they I'm from a town with
no stop lights. That's how small it is. So to
say everybody knows each other is an understatement, Like when
you're from a really small town, it's just different. Like
who you are, what your last name is, what your
parents do. All those things seemed to matter, or maybe

(01:51):
they did for me or certain members of my family.
I've kind of grown out of that, moving to a
bigger area. I do enjoy somewhat having a non in amenity,
if that's how you say it. Being able to go
to the grocery store. Yeah, talk to a few people
that you know. But like I'm not joking, in the
town I'm from, you'd go downtown, like to the downtown area,

(02:12):
go to the bank, or go to the grocery store.
You know just about everybody there. Even for me. I've
been removed from there for like fifteen years from like
living there, I could still go visit, go to the
downtown area, and still people are like, oh, hey, how
are you. Like everybody knows everybody, so when you hear

(02:33):
things like the teacher in town, the principal in town,
the doctor in town, the chiropractor in town, everybody knows everybody,
and everyone has opinion on everything. Why am I saying this?
It's because when I was sent to a chiropractor when
I was younger, it wasn't a chiropractor, it was the chiropractor. Like,

(02:55):
there's only one and I'll never forget this. So I
was playing I grew up playing hockey. I was always
pretty average, to be honest with you, kind of the
middle of the pack. And when you would every year
you would go into tryouts to play on what they
called the rep team down here, they would call that

(03:15):
the travel team. Every team traveled like you went to
different towns and things like that. But each age group
had a rep team or a representative team that was
your best team. And it was everything to me to
want to make the Rep team every year. And sometimes
I would say half the time I did, half the
time I didn't. It just all depended on the year
and who was trying out things like that. And I

(03:37):
remember the one year I made the Rep team and
it was the first couple years of body contact. So
back then you started playing body contact at about twelve
years old, twelve thirteen years old, and by the time
you got to that point, I'm sounding older here, but
it was it was a different generation like people were.

(03:59):
It was more aggressive. There was no concussion protocols. There
was no worrying if people got hurt. Like when it
came to body contact, you were trying to take people out.
You were trying to hurt them. You were trying to
take them out of the game with a big hit.
I mean, that's just hockey, especially that style of hockey.
And I was never really gifted as far as having

(04:20):
good what they call hands in hockey, meaning like scoring, touch, passing,
things of that nature. I was a really good skater.
I was strong on my feet. I was not the
tallest person, but I was always strong. So my role
was more of what they call a grinder or someone
who had retrieved the puck get it for a better
player the playmaker, and the playmaker gets it to the score.

(04:41):
That's kind of your roles on the team. So my
job is going to the puck is in the corner,
there's a defenseman there. My job is to go in
and run the defenseman in the boards and get the puck.
And that's all I did. And it was just constant
contact all the time, big hits, and because I was smaller,
I would always be leaning with my head. So if
I was going to hit a defenseman he's taller than me,

(05:04):
i'd beat his shoulder would be hitting me directly on
the head. Now I'm blessed with a with a big brain.
I say, I have a big head. But it took
some Yeah, it took a few licks. And I didn't
know it at the time, but I'd suffered at least
two concussions, one of which was bad, where to the
point where I didn't even know where I was. I

(05:25):
remember being hit, going to the bench, sitting there. It
came time for me to go out on the ice again,
but I didn't know that what was going on. And
the trainer just came over to me, and this is
how different things were back then. He's just like, are
you okay? And I'm like yeah, and he's like, what
did you have for breakfast today? Now Here's the thing

(05:47):
is that the reason they're asking that question is because
a concussion, an acute concussion, can cause sudden memory loss,
like you're you're in a fugue state. You don't even
know kind of what you are, who you are, where
you are, and you know, you know, notwithstanding knowing what
was for breakfast, but because we played in body contact,
we always knew what the answer was to say so

(06:08):
that we didn't get taken out of the game. So
automatically I would say Cereal, even if I didn't have
cereal for breakfast, I just knew that that's what you
would say. So he said, what did you eat for breakfast? Cereal? Okay,
you're up next, get out there. No checking my eyes,
no checking my head, no checking for swelling, none of that.
It was just get back out there again. So I
go back out there again and I get hit again.

(06:33):
Now the next thing I know, I must have blocked out,
because the next thing I know, I'm sitting in a
dressing room by myself. No one else is there, I
have my part of my equipment is off. I'm just
sitting there. I don't know how I got there. I
don't even know where I am, I don't know what's
going on. I'm sitting in a dressing room. No one
else is even in there. All of a sudden, a

(06:54):
few minutes later, the team comes in and they're all
riled up from the game, and I guess we had
won by a goal or alaw. I don't even know
what was happening. And they're going around like going over
the game, and one guy looks at me like, are
you okay, And I just go, I don't even know
what's going on right now, like I don't even know
who you or anyone is, and they all started laughing.

(07:15):
It was funny, and I remember that night. Like the
concussion protocol at the time was just when you go
to bed, have your parents wake you up every three hours,
because what can happen is if you have a brain bleed.
And I don't know all the biology behind all this,
but basically, if you have like a swalling of your
brain or brain bleed, if you go to sleep, some

(07:36):
people don't wake back up, and you can die from
having a severe concussion if it's not treated properly. Now
certainly they weren't treating it properly. It was just, you know,
get up every three hours, and so weeks go by.
We go into the playoffs and we're playing against a
French Canadian team. And in this area of the province

(07:56):
there's a huge rivalry between English Canada and French Canads.
Needless to say, like the rivalry when it comes to
hockey is like they hate each other, like they can't
stand each other. The English can't send the French and
the words you would say, like the English people would
call the French frogs, the French people would call the
English squareheads. But they tell you, you know, it's just funny.

(08:20):
And we're playing in this game, and there was these
two twins. They were called the McNab twins, and they
must have hit a gross spurt earlier. They looked like
they were on thirteen year olds on steroids. They were huge.
And the one guy ram me into the board so
hard again I blacked out again. The next thing I know,
I come to, I'm in the dressing room. My jersey
is cut off, my shoulder pads are removed. I have

(08:43):
the worst pain of my life in my shoulder and
it pretty much looks deformed. So I suffered at another
concussion and a Grade two separation of my shoulder. Now
at that point, like I'm feeling like, Okay, my season's done.
I'm not going to be playing again. This is terrible.
But what was happening there is it was a setup

(09:03):
because what was going to happen now is something that
would change the rest of my life by being referred
to a chiropractor. So stay tuned. After the break, I'll
finish this story and tie it into how it can help.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
You as the year winds down.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
We keep special moments close, sharing meals and togetherness means more.
But for many in Central Pennsylvania.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Today I'm sharing called chiropractic. I'm plugged. I'm kind of
going through the behind the scenes of chiropractic really how
it works in simple terms, removing a lot of the
marketing mumbo jumbo that you see out there, clearing the
smoke in the air, like what chiropractic actually does and
what a good chiropractor should be doing when you go

(09:48):
to see them. But I want to just continue on
this story. So, as I was sharing before the break,
I was injured at thirteen years old playing hockey and
I was believe I was in the eighth grade, so
I was twelve or thirteen years old, rold you are
in eighth grade. Now I go to the medical doctor.
So I'm dealing with post concussion syndrome. I'm dealing with
a separated shoulder. They refer me to physical therapy. I

(10:10):
go to physical therapy. I end up being referred to
a quote unquote top physical therapist in this part of
the province where I'm from. They diagnosed me with separated shoulder.
They give me some exercises, but nothing's really helping. I
start dealing with really bad neck pain, really bad headaches.
I also, unbeknownst to me that this was connected, I

(10:31):
started to deal with breathing issues. So I was diagnosed
with exercise induced stasm. I went to an allergy specialist.
They would do the breathing test where they have you
breathe through the tube and see how what your lung
capacity is, and mine was like greatly reduced. So they're
checking me for allergies, They're checking me for asthma, all
these different things. They're not really sure what's going on.
They're like, oh, maybe you have a graphs allergy or

(10:52):
birch trialergy, ragweed could be that. It's like, well, why
am I dealing with this? In the middle of the winter.
So finally, as many of you know, my mom was
a nurse, and again small town. She's the nurse in
the town or one of the nurses in the town,
and she didn't have a favorable, favorable opinion on chiropractic care.
It was just something that wasn't talked about, and if

(11:14):
it was, it would just be brushed off or dismissed.
She always told them in nursing school that chiropractors were
quacks and they would hurt your patients. That's what she
was told. Now, her boss or medical doctor was a
little more I guess the word progressive in her thinking,
open minded in her thinking. Because nothing else, nothing was

(11:34):
really working. The medications weren't working, going to the allergy
doctor as a specialist, going to physical therapy wasn't working.
She says, well, why don't you go see Frank the
chiropractor now? Because the doctor said it. My mom was
okay with it. She was fine with that for me
to go. So I go to the chiropractor. I get

(11:55):
X I remember being he didn't have an X ray
machine in there. He wanted extras. I get referred out
to have X rays done. He's looking at my X RAYCE.
He's showing me my X rays, and I remember thinking like,
what what does an extray of my neck have to
do with my shoulder have to do with the pain
I'm having in my head? And he started to explain
how the nerve system work, which again I'm at a

(12:16):
very an age impressionable age at thirteen years old, and
I soaked it up like a sponge and is explaining
how your brain communicates to your body through your spine,
which you kind of you kind of know that, right
your nervous system. You know your your body's controlled by
your nervous system, but you know that your spinal cord

(12:38):
is like a long tail that's attached to your brain.
So your spinal cord is your brain. They're all one unit.
They're all attached together. It's like where does the brain
end in the spinal cord begins like they're all one thing,
and the brainy thing. The brain's so important. It's covered
by skull. Your spinal cord is so important. It's covered

(12:59):
by twenty four bone and a sacred and tailbone and hips.
It's all meant to protect your spinal cord. That's how
important it is. When the spinal cord is under stress.
Your body's going to go under stress and you can
get different symptoms blood pressure issues, s thyroid, heart problems,
also lung breathing issues. And he's pointing to the nerves
in the base of the neck and how they go

(13:19):
to areas like the lungs, how do they go to
the shoulder, and also the nerves refer up to the
head causing headaches. And I'll never forget this. He showed
my X ray. So normally from the side you see
a forty five degree curve. Mine was that negative for
it was going the opposite way. So he said, all
these hits you've taken to your head are the concussions

(13:40):
that you've had. You know, at that time in my life,
I was also in a car accident as well. You've
suffered whiplash in your neck and that's what's causing these issues.
So the goal here is that we want to correct
the curve. Get the curve to come back in, takes
pressure off the nerve system. The body's going to do
what it needs to do and heal itself. And I'm like, wow,

(14:01):
that makes sense. That's the first time a doctor took
the time explain what was happening. Because my other experience
with doctors or especially like this quote unquote top physical therapist.
I went in the room, I was sitting there. He
comes rushing in just looks, you know, looks professional, looks knowledgeable,
but extremely busy, extremely rushed, looking at the chart, like

(14:24):
didn't even read the chart before he walks in. He's
reading it as he's coming in. He's like, oh, hey Greg,
not even looking at me. No hello, no handshake, all right,
lift your arm over your head, Okay, do this, do that? Yeah,
you have a separated shoulder. No surgery needed. You know,
here's a script for different exercises by and like that
was it was a one minute appointment, like that was
my experience with this. But this chiropractor, he's really he's

(14:47):
explaining all this. So he's explaining what the spine looks like,
how it functions, everything like that. And then I go
to get adjusted and I remember him, you know work.
I'm laying face down and he's going along my spine.
He's pushing on my spine. I hear the different pops
in the quicks they're called cavitations. Then he goes out
closer between my shoulder blade and my spine, so right

(15:11):
on what's called the heads of the ribs, where your
ribs will attached to your spine. And he goes along
and he finds like this trigger point that hurts, and
then when he pushes down, it was like recreating the
pain that I had on my neck. He's like, when
I push here, does that cause pain. I'm like, yeah,
that feels like my breathe. It feels like it's in
my lungs. It feels like it's in my neck. Like
that's what's that hurts. And then he I remember him

(15:34):
just working at working, at working, and then all of
a sudden, he did one big push and then I
just felt it quick like the rib like adjusted, It
clicked into place, and I felt instant relief. It's still
like the first adjustment I ever had was probably one
of the best adjustments I've ever had, just because of
the impact that it had, not only physically, but like mentally, like,

(15:54):
oh my god, like this this works. This is amazing,
and I became I was so excited to go to
the chiropractor. One because it was I was getting results,
and two because I was a smart little guy. I
would set my appointments during school hours because it was
close to where the school was. Again, very small town.

(16:14):
He's downtown, the schools right there. So I would set
my appointments them. They're like, do you want to come
during lunch? Do you want to come before school or
after school. I'm like, no, I'm going to come during
school so I could get the doctor's note. And here's
what I would do is I would I would get
out of class. We'd be in the middle of math
or something like that. I'd set it up during the
most boring subject, whether it was math or French class.

(16:36):
I'd say, oh, I got to go to the chiropractor,
and I would go there and the kids in class
I had an order form. They would write down what
they wanted from the convenience store and then I would
go get adjusted. I would go to a convenience store
and buy because they don't give me money, and I
would buy them like whatever candy or drink they wanted,

(16:56):
and then bring it back to school, shove it in
my locker, and during recess they'd all come over. It
was really funny. It's funny, like you remember stuff like that,
and yeah, it was just a very positive experience. So
then fast forward you know, this injury is healing up.
I'm playing hockey again. Things are doing better. I'm going
in for period periodic adjustments, but not as much. I

(17:17):
kind of fall fall off track, like like many people do.
You go to the chiropractor, you're feeling good, you fall
off of it. Fast forward to tenth grade. I'm in
a Civics and careers class and it culminates with this
career fair that you're supposed to put on for the
rest of the school. So like the in the gymnasium,

(17:38):
people from other grades walk through, and you're supposed to
pick your career. What your career is. You want to
research it. You know what you do, what your pay is,
what your hours are, you know what it is, what
the philosophy of the job is, like what it is
that you do and why you're doing it, and then
you like you act it out. So if you were
a mechanic, you'd be dressed like a mechanic. If you

(17:59):
were a doctor, dressed like a doctor. You get what
I'm saying. And I was a chiropractor, so I had
a bulletin the big like three prong bulletin board thing
and chiropractor and explain it all, I borrowed the spine
from the chiropractor. I remember calling him and interviewing him
over the phone for about ten minutes, ask him all

(18:20):
sorts of questions and yeah, so I knew in the
tenth grade, if people said what do you want to
be when you grow up? I said, chiropractor. And fast forward,
you know, I'm what thirty seven years old the time
recording this. That's what I am now, and it's exciting
and it's life changing. The reason I share this is

(18:40):
because it impacted my life at a young age, and
now I get to see it impact people on a
bigger scale because I practiced chiropractic, even in a different
way than that chiropractor practices. Chiropractic. Things have advanced technologically
where we can really get to the root causes of
people's shoes and correct them. And people don't have to

(19:04):
rely on either hoping for the best, hoping it goes away,
blaming it on their age, ignorance basically, or neglect. And
then number two, they don't have to be on these
unnecessary medications, all these pain pills like I don't have.
There's no Advila in my house, there's no tile and
all there's no leave, there's none of that stuff because

(19:25):
through the adjustments, through the specific exercises, by taking care
of the spine, your body just feels good. Like you
feel flexible. They say, flexibility is youth. When your spine moves,
it's flexible. And when your spine moves, your muscles are
nice and loose and relaxed, and shoulder tension goes down,
and back tension goes down, and stiffness goes away, maybe

(19:48):
tightness in your legs, and you're able to move. You're
able to check your blind spots when you're driving, You're
able to touch your toes. You're able to like get
up out of a chair without grunting and making a
big noise like an old man would because your back
is stiff. Just these little tiny things that we can
take for granted on the day to day basis really
make a difference. And it's all just recently. Before I

(20:12):
go to how I went to chiropractic school or anything
like that, just recently I heard this from a new patient.
And this new patient who comes in and I asked him,
what's going on. You know, he works in the construction business,
and he's in his early forties, and I was asking,
you know, what are your concerns, what are your goals?
What are you hoping to achieve? And he says, I

(20:33):
want to be flexible. I don't want to feel like
I'm getting old. I want to be able to get
up out of my chair without pain, out of my
bed without pain, be able to play with my kids,
run around golf, do the things that I want to
do without feeling like I'm getting old. And I'm like, yeah,
that's basically I'm like, You're in the right place. Those
are really good goals because that's basically what chiropractic does.

(20:56):
Bjered by getting to the root cause number one, getting
to the root cause of the issue. In introducing proper
motion to the spine, the spine is able to heal
to function well, and that reduces the amount of stress
on your nerve system. When your nervous systems are not
under stress, it can focus on healing and bringing life
and vibrency and energy to your body. So stay tuned.

(21:16):
Do you own a small business.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
A seismic shift is coming.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
It's time to get super sure coming soon.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
The Great Gifting Event at BJ's Wholesale Club offers such
great deals.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
We killed in that on Plugs, I'm going to give
you my very strong opinion on how you know you're
at the right chiropractor. This is the part of the
show where I was kind of saying that I wanted
to kind of clear the smoke. There's a lot of
different ways in which chiropractors practice, but it's pretty easy
to figure out if you're at the right one for

(21:46):
you or not. Like, if you want to go get
a massage, I would say go to massage therapist. If
you want physical therapy, go to a physical therapist. If
you want chiropractic care, you want to go to a chiropractice.
It's pretty simple. So how do you know you're at
the right one Because there's a lot of different techniques.
There's a lot of different ways in which chiropractors practice,
but just from a full it's not so much about

(22:08):
the technique and how they're doing it, but you want
to be getting to the results that you want, and
you want the chiropractor to be goal oriented or results focused,
basically patient focus, to focus on you and you getting results,
not about so much on maybe them their bottom line,
their volume, their business. Those are all aspects that when

(22:31):
patients are getting well, those things will take care of themselves.
It just be like if you open a restaurant, right,
there's going to be concerns about your budget and your
money and your inventory and all that kind of stuff.
So long as you're serving good quality food and having
great customer service, people are going to come back and
those things are going to take care of themselves. One

(22:52):
of my mentors in chiropractice, he because you know, you
come out, you're hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt,
you're going you're getting lines of credits, open to business,
all this stuff, and all he said to me when
we started a practice was just don't even think of
that stuff. When patients come in, all you're focused on
is them, focus on excellent customer service, great adjustment. The

(23:12):
rest will take care of itself, the referrals, the money,
everything else takes care of itself. That's that's really any business.
That's just like business, one on one. So number one,
the chiropractor should be asking you or telling you that
they're going to figure out what's causing the concern that
you're dealing with. So every chiropractor is going to ask

(23:35):
you what your concerns are your chief complaint, what your
symptoms are, what you're dealing with, headaches, neck pain, back pain, stiffness, sciatica, numbness,
and tingling neuropathy. Okay, okay, that's the issue. Now. What
they want to be doing in an exam is figuring
out what is causing that and then relaying that information

(23:56):
to you. So this is this is big, and this
is what I was impress upon at a young age,
is that that information needs to go into your ears
or into your eyes. You need to see what's going on.
You need to understand what's going on so that you
play a part. How many of us have been to
medical offices before, physical therapists, even chiropractors, and you go

(24:17):
there and they start working on you, they start the
treatment plan, but you don't even know like why you're
doing it, what you're there for. Hey, I'm going in
with a headache, and I'll tell us just how I
ask people because people come in there they're dealing with headaches.
I said, has if all the things you've done in
the past, all the doctors you've been to, all the specialists,

(24:38):
all the medications you've taken, has anyone ever told you
what's causing this issue, and it's almost unbelievable to me
that almost everybody is just like no, no one's ever
told me what's causing this issue. So if you don't know,
the doctor's going to the doctor should know what's causing it, right,
and that's good, But they need to let you know

(24:59):
what's causing it so that you play a role in
the healing process. So number one, that's just patient education.
One on one. The patient understands what's going on. The
patient understands, they're more likely to be a compliant patient
from the car. That's the chiropractic standpoint. So the win
for me is when a patient understands what's going on

(25:21):
and then I tell them to do a certain exercise
at home, they're more likely to do it. It'd be
like a dentist. Imagine the dentist just says handed you
a toothbrush and toothpaste in a bag, brush your teeth.
You walk out of there, you don't know why. Versus
if they said, hey, listen, here's your x rays, here's
the condition of your teeth. Here's areas of sensitivity. You

(25:42):
have the start of decay or a cavity. Here, Brushing
your teeth twice a day with this specific toothbrush, and
this specific toothpaste is going to wipen your teeth, strengthen
the enamel, and make sure that you don't get a cavity. Okay,
you'd be like, yeah, that sounds good, I'm going to
do that, versus just like here do it. So you
go in for a headache or a back pain or

(26:03):
whatever else in the chiropractors, here do these three stretches.
You know why you're doing What are the mechanics? Why
are you doing that? So when I show someone, like,
for example, our wobble cushion exercise where they're sitting on
like a half blown up wobble cushion, and we'll say,
I'm gonna have you go side to side, back and
forth and turning, why why do we do that? Your
discs are the material between your bones, your your vertebrae

(26:29):
made of water. The only way that nutrients like oxygen, nutrients,
and water go in and out of the disk is
through movement. After puberty, blood vessels don't even go in
there anymore. There's no blood supply to a disk, so
the only way that it gets nutrients passing through is
through movement. So The more that your spine moves, the

(26:51):
healthier that it's going to be, and it's going to
prevent stop and in some cases reverse things like degeneration
and arthritis. So if you use this wobble cushion, you're
going to prevent things like arthritis, degeneration, your spine's gonna
last longer, You're going to feel better and be more flexible.
How does that sound, Yeah, that sounds good versus just
like here, do this wabble cushion. Okay, So I'm big

(27:13):
on patient education, understanding what the cause is now. Number
two is visuals or seeing right. They say seen as believing.
You want to be able to see what's going on,
understand what's going on. There has to be a basis
for the care that you're receiving. Now, the majority of chiropractors,

(27:34):
the basis for the care that people are receiving is
just their symptoms. My back hurts, therefore, I'm going to
do this adjustment. Your back hurts, therefore we're going to
do this. Your neck hurt's therefore we're going to do this.
The problem with that is that symptoms are very subjective.
They can change. Let's give an example of sciatica, numbness

(27:56):
and tingling going down the leg. The problem that you feel,
I think it's going down the leg. The cause of
the issue is most likely in the lower back. Okay,
so we want to be working on the lower back.
People are dealing with numbus and tingling in the feet rarely,
that's where it's coming from. I help people with neuropathy
and diatica without ever having touching their feet or their

(28:17):
leg or working on their back. So that can be
confusing to the patient. Obviously, to an uninitiated person, it's like, no, no,
but I hurt here. Why are you working on here?
So that's where taking X rays. So from a doctor's standpoint,
from my standpoint taking the X rays, I'm able to
see exactly what's going on. I'm able to rule out

(28:38):
any contra indications to care. Contra indications mean reasons why
the person should not be adjusted, to rule out cases
in which an adjustment would not be appropriate or it
could actually hurt the patient. For example, if there was
some kind of tumor, or if there was some kind
of discarnation, or if there was some kind of mass
or a break or a fracture on the X going

(29:01):
to show a lot of that stuff so that you
know what you can and can't do. But more likely
it's going to show you the alignment, the misalignment of
the pelvis, the spine, and how to move it back. Now,
a lot of chiropractors take X rays and they're able
to see them. Or you go to the doctor and
they take an X ray and I ask people this,
I say, did they show you the X ray? And

(29:21):
they'll say, well, no, the doctor does it. That's doctor
centered care. So we go a step further and I
show you the X ray as well, so when you
come in an initial appointment, so thro your exam figure
out what's causing these issues. We take X rays, I'm
able to see where the problems are. Then I'm going
to relay that information to you. Show you what's going

(29:42):
on with your X rays, so you understand what's happening,
and you can see why you're getting certain adjustments. You
can see why you're getting specific exercises. And what I
find is that patients are more likely to continue with
care and be more compliant in their exercises and get
results because they are on board, just like I was
when I was younger, and the chiropractor took the time

(30:04):
to explain everything to me. It's called the report of findings.
I was on board with the care from that point on.
And then the next thing, hmm, and this is just
more I don't know, a pet peeve. I guess you
want the chiropractor to be focused on what they should
be focused on, not what they shouldn't be focused on.

(30:26):
So a lot of times modalities and I might get
some flak from other chiropractors, but whatever. A lot of
times these extra modalities, electric stimulation, ultrasound therapy, hot packs,
coal packs, these things that chiropractors are doing in the office,
it's just it's just extra stuff. At the very best,

(30:49):
it's just like things they're doing that are just extra
to try to appease the patient and get them feeling
better quickly by. It's just feels nice to have a
hot pack put on you, but honestly, it's not doing
that much. Your body's not lacking heat. Your body's not
lacking colds from a cold pack or heat from a
hot pack or a sound generating machine ultrasound being put

(31:10):
in your body. Your body needs adjusted. The hips need
to go back into a line, the spine needs to
go back into line at specific exercises to get to
the causey issues. So if there's a lot of extra
modalities that are going on that don't have to really
do with anything in your case, then I would really
look elsewhere for chiropractic because I remember going to I've

(31:32):
been to many chiropractors in my life, worked at a
few different offices, and the people that were getting the
best results were when the chiropractor adjusted and treated the
patients the same way as they did their own family.
And I learned this at a young age. And again
I'm very thankful for my mentors in chiropractic. I had

(31:52):
two really great mentors. When I graduated chiropractic school. I
spent a lot of time shadowing other chiropractors, and some
of them you'd go in and they'd hook you up
to every single machine, everything going on, and when it
came time to adjust their own family, they didn't use
that stuff. They would just adjust them. Takes three, three

(32:12):
to five minutes adjust the patient, and that's I'll never forget.
I went to chiropractor named doctor Doug up in Canada
doctor John in Sarah, Pennsylvania, and they both said the
same thing. It's almost like they had talked to each
other before. It's amazing. They said, you know you're at
the right chiropractor when they're adjusting the patients the same
way as they do their wife or husband and children.

(32:34):
And I can tell you that our kids, my wife,
they get the same adjustment that patients get at my office.
Stay tuned. After the break, I'm going to kind of
bring it home and tell you some cool stories. So
stay tuned.

Speaker 3 (32:45):

fifty percent off your first visit and any necessary X

(33:07):
race like you did for me. Call Lyvitz's Family Chiropractic.
Seven one seven six two seven zero three six' Five.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
Honey why is The christmas tree in the? Kitchen Will
our NEW tv is plugged in where the stereo used to.
Go so the stereo was plugged in where the lamp
used to. Go the show has been Called Chiropractic unplugged
and you, know showing you the behind the curtain of chiropractic.
CARE i truly believe that the more that you look
into chiropractic and natural, healthcare the more you would gravitate towards.

(33:37):
IT i also believe that the more people look into
conventional medicine and open up what's going on there behind the,
scenes the more people move away from. It and that's
that is the thing THAT i love the most about
being a chiropractor is there's integrity to. It for, me
is THAT i say WHAT i do AND i do

(33:58):
WHAT i. Say all the Things i'm talking to you,
ABOUT i do. MYSELF i get. ADJUSTED i do the
exercises THAT i have the patience. DO i do like
power yoga at. HOME i eat really. Healthy i'm living
out what we call these five essentials of health your,
mindset nervous, system proper, nutrition, exercise and minimizing. Toxins we

(34:22):
do our very best as a family to live in
a healthy. Way AND i have three young children at,
home AND i get to see the difference that they
have compared to you, know their little. Classmates not that you,
know you don't want to fall into, comparison but my
kids get sick or, less they're far, healthier just more,
vibrant better. ENERGY i just see. That and the more

(34:45):
you look into modern, MEDICINE i, mean it's a. Mess
and that was on full display during the. Pandemic at
the very, least they're completely incompetent in The that's what
the pandemic. Showed you had all these different guys lines
that were just kind of made up on the, spot
and it was very. Dogmatic if you didn't believe in,
it then you were an, idiot or you were a,

(35:07):
rube or you were lesser than or you're a conspiracy.
Theorist and then as time goes, on you, know AND
i kept saying this to people when the pandemic was.
HAPPENING i, SAID i can't tell you the number of
arguments THAT i had with, people not, arguments just like
discussions about vaccines or masks or, mandates, Lockdowns AND i
just would, SAY i just, said, LIKE i, KNOW i

(35:28):
Know i'm, right and i know What i'm doing is,
right and it's going to come out that. Way and sure,
enough one by, one, oh it came out that lockdowns
did not, work and they made things a lot, worse
like a lot, worse especially for. Children shutting down schools
was very, bad and we're seeing really bad. Repercussions we
have done a great disservice to the youth of our

(35:50):
country and how we treated them during the pandemic in
the name of quote unquote public health was. Terrible you
look at the vaccine and how we know now that
it did not stop trans mission as they said they
and they kept moving the. Goalpost they, said, well it
doesn't stop, transmission but it reduces symptoms or reduces, hospitalization
and we look at all the stats, like, no it

(36:10):
didn't at. All and again a great disservice to young
people where especially young, men high incidences of heart, failure,
myocarditis just really bad stuff that was happening that was
just either brushed to the side or worshiet actively covered,
up actively covered up really. Bad and then the other

(36:30):
one the mandates on vaccines and how the ethics of
that with that and then also, masking AND i remember
showing people when mask thing was first coming out and
we had this whole meta, analysis but like that was
done before the pandemic started on how masks do not

(36:51):
work the way that the fibers. Are it'd be like
trying to stop mosquitos by using a chain link sense like,
it just they don't work number, one and number, two
they can cause breathing. Concerns you're breathing back in your carbon.
Dioxide you're breathing in all the snot now you're not
getting the proper oxygen. Exchange and people would like get

(37:12):
so angry about, it AND i just kept, SAYING i,
know but that's. Right and sure, enough all these things
have come. Out vaccines didn't work as they, said the
mass didn't work that they, said the lockdown certainly didn't
work as they. Said and it all comes down to.
This there's a basis for how your body. Works that's
what we're operating. On i'm not, trying you, Know i'm
not a perfect. PERSON i don't want to operate on

(37:35):
ego or being right or anything like, that although that
can still pop up Because i'm a human. Being but
it's all on the basis of how your body is
designed to. Heal and it doesn't, change doesn't, change doesn't
matter about artificial intelligence or all this stuff that's out
there at a thousand years from, now you're going to

(37:55):
have a, brain you're going to have a nervous. System
your body's going to have to eat good, food you're
going to have to minimize. Toxins you're gonna have to
think the right kind of, thoughts you're going to have to.
Exercise it's just these are immutable laws of. Nature it's
just how it, is and we can complain about, it
we can ignore, it but it's like it's. Coming like these.

(38:17):
Issues you can look at it in two. Ways like,
one you can look at it from just trying to avoid.
Problems And i'm going to use like football or hockey.
Analogy you're playing to not lose versus playing to. Win
so let's use that as an. Analogy like a lot
of people with their, health they're playing the health game

(38:38):
just not to. Lose they're playing a lot of. Defense
they're just trying To they're, like here's an. Example they're, like,
Well i'm going to take this osteoporosis strug to prevent.
Osteoporosis i'm going to take this ivermecht into chore hydroxy
quorcuin to try to PREVENT. Covid i'm going to take
this to prevent, that and that you're playing defense, defense

(38:59):
defense with your. Health, Okay i'm going to do this
stretch to get to help my back Pand i'm going
to work on these bands to prevent this the. Opposite
and this is this is, Huge this is. Huge it's
like my whole culmination on the radio show for however
many YEARS i have been doing, this eight, years nine. Years
you have to play. Offense you have to switch your

(39:21):
mindset to playing offense with your health and that your
health is not a, burden or like your spine is
not a, burden or eating food is not a. Burden
that it can be positive and good and happy and,
healthy and things are become about optimization and GETTING i get,
adjusted not so my back doesn't, hurt so That i'm

(39:41):
like an optimized, form that my brain is firing on all,
cylinders so that my back feels great and like it
functions well And i'm flexible so THAT i can adjust
people all day long and then go home and play
with my kids and wrestle with them and be on
all fours and jumping, around and then ONCE i get
them to, BED i can go play ice hockey for
an hour and a half and have the energy to

(40:03):
do that that's WHAT I that's WHY i get, Adjusted
that's WHY i eat good, food so that then the
next DAY i can get right up in the morning
after you, know not getting a ton of, sleep and
after having a big, day AND i can drive my
kids to school and spend time with them in the,
morning and then go in and handle running a business
and you, know making a million decisions and staff and

(40:25):
patience and going OVER x rays and preparing for a
raish or doing all this. Stuff, right all of our
lives are. Busy LIKE i could go through your life
and all the things that you have to, do and
we can either use that as an, excuse and we
can use your age as an, excuse or how busy
you are as an, excuse or how financially it's an.
Excuse it's just an, excuse, excuse. Excuse the reality is

(40:47):
you're not putting your health as a. Priority you're not
because when it comes to, priority it's just it's, Automatic
just like brushing your. Teeth you don't have to think
about doing. It it's just something you. Do you go to,
Bed you're, LIKE i forgot to brush my what do you?
Do you get up and you do it because it's
an automatic. Thing here's the cool part is once you
start making these, changes start getting the, adjustments you start

(41:09):
making changes with your nutrition and your. Exercise soon it
just becomes your. Normal it just becomes hardwired into your
brain and you just start doing it and it becomes
this fantastic positive thing in your life and you don't
have to worry about things like the aches and the
pains and. Everything my WIFE i actually share a, story
and my wife had a really good story BEFORE i

(41:30):
went to bed the other. Night she has a long
time patient Named, evan And evan is in his early.
Forties he's been a patient at our. Office we've been
in operation for about ten and a half. Years he's
been a, patient i would say for eight or nine,
years like a long time. Patient he's been coming in
since his early. Thirties and she recently so once typically

(41:51):
once a, year we RETAKE x rays and she was
showing him HIS x rays from when he started eight years,
ago eight nine years. Ago it's all the way till
now and much. More his spine is, improved like having
a nice curve in his. Neck his back is nice
and straight from the, front very minimal to no degeneration at,
all even though he's you, know he's in his mid.

(42:11):
Forties and she just, said isn't that, Cool, like you,
know you you really start to see the benefits of
like long term chiropractic, care because she's, Like i'm sure
a lot of your friends complain once you get to
quote unquote that, age start to complain about their. Spine
and he just, like without without her finishing your, sentence
he just, Goes, oh it's all they talk. About all my,

(42:33):
friends even ones that are like coworkers and friends and family,
member it's all they talk. About and you guys know,
This like it's all people talk about is how sick
they are and how much pain they're in and all my,
goodness my back hurts and MY i have, psiatica AND
i have, neuropathy AND i have, headaches AND i have
this and, that and my kids are sick all the,

(42:54):
time AND i run into them to the doctor and
they're giving them these shots and they're giving me these.
Drugs but nothing's. Working. Guys you have to do something.
Different you have to do something. Different AND i know
it's confusing because there's a lot of chiropractors out there
and chiropractors buy and large have not done a good
job of having a unified message on what chiropractic really.

(43:19):
Is and that's one of the main reasons WHY i
started this radio. Show, yes it's for of, course it's
for marketing purposes and advertisement things like. That anyone who
has anything on radio OR tv or, internet social media,
anywhere of course it's for. That but as it's evolved
over the, years it's become more educational people understanding so

(43:39):
that patients that come. In it's so cool because now
like when you guys come, in it's my favorite. THING
i know when people are from the radio, show and
LIKE i even, know like my staff will even know.
Too they're, like, oh they're, like, oh, board they already
know about what's in the. Office they know about the five,
essentials they know about the extra size that we do

(44:00):
pre post. Adjustment they know like our, stories they know
about the renovations we've done at the office and all
the different. Things AND i had a patient start recently
and he's just, Like i'm Just i'm ready to be.
Healthy i'm ready to have a vibrant life and my
spine to feel. Good and AFTERWARDS i walked out and
my staff member THAT i was, with she, Goes, wow
he's a radio show patient like saying that in a

(44:23):
positive way that the education and people are just ready
to go and understand what's happening with their spine before
even coming into the. Office it's invaluable for me as
a chiropractor and also for you as a. Patient but
the first, step guys picking up the, phone making that first,
appointment taking that first. Step so guys have a blessed.

Speaker 3 (44:42):
