Speaker 1 (00:00):
To prevent and reverse disease, overcome common health obstacles, and
live to your fullest God given potential. This is Maximized
Living Radio with Doctor Greg O'Neil Healthcare on a mission
sponsored by Let It Stanley Chiropractic.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
All right, guys, welcome to another week Maximize Living Radio
with your show, Doctor Greg O'Neil.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
They're going to be talking about everyday issues that people
so commonly deal with, but so commonly either ignore or
medicate or just push through and it leads to bigger problems. Now,
some of you might be sitting there thinking like, well,
this sounds familiar, maybe.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
You've talked about this before.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
But what I really want to hit home is that
these everyday, seemingly normal issues are not normal.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
That's the big distinction.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Is that just because it's common, just because you've dealt
with it before, or you think you have a handle
on it, or you see your brother or your sister,
your coworker, your if your husband, whomever dealing with it,
it doesn't make it normal. So we can't excuse the symptom.
Because getting to the crux of healthcare is that and
this is probably the most misunderstood thing in healthcare, is

(01:15):
that your symptom is a signal, it's letting you know
that something's going on. The problem is the medical world,
commercials on TV, drugs, everything we've been cultured, conditioned to
think that it's just either normal part of life and
all we have to do to be healthy is to

(01:36):
get rid of the symptom. Is that if I can
give you a medication and your blood work becomes normalized,
your blood pressure, your cholesterol, you know, whatever value you
can think of, your headaches go away, your low back
thing goes away. Heck, now you can take a medication
and you start to lose weight. It just seems so easy.

(01:57):
But with each shortcut it becomes a problem, and it
is a consequence. So there's a consequence every shortcut that
you take, and with all you ever do is circumvent
the body's normal processing and normal signaling, then you're going
to get yourself in trouble.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
And we see that.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
I mean, we have more medications than ever before, we
have more money spent on healthcare than ever before, Yet
the outcomes get worse and worse and worse, to the
point where life expectancy is even going down.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
Because this was saying.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Early on in practice. People would when when I would
get in debates with people about this, especially in the
medical community, that would be kind of their feather and
their cap. They would say, well, you can say all
that about chiropractic or medical system, but at the end
of the day, due to modern medicine, our life expectancy
is going up. Well. Since about twenty sixteen, our life

(02:52):
expectancy in the United States has gone down, has gone
down so that for the first time ever, the generation
and being born is slaved to have worse health outcomes
than their parents and their grandparents.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
And that's a problem that's not good, and.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
It's largely because of just ignoring and being out of
touch with our own bodies and not focusing on our
own individual healthcare and either pushing it off, delaying or
putting health in the hands of other people or medications
and just kind of hoping.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
For the best or thinking that it's normal. So I
really today, I want to get down to the nitty
gritty of like things that you can be feeling right now,
how you can be mistaking that as normal, and things
that you can do to actually figure out what's causing it,
correct it, and your body will start to flourish. So
let's focus on neck pain. To start with neck pain,

(03:47):
it's so common, It is so common. I bet that
almost eighty plus percent of the people that are hearing
me speak right now are dealing with some sort of
neck pain or tension. At the very least some kind
of stiffness and tension, especially in their shoulders as they
come into the neck. So that's what's known as the
upper trapezius muscle, the elevator scapulai muscle. It's what kind

(04:10):
of gives you that you think of a bodybuilder that
sculpted look in the back of the neck. Those muscles
attach your scapulai, your shoulder blade up into the vertebrae
of your neck and it allows you to basically shrug
your shoulders. So you look at like a bodybuilder and
they're in the gym and they're doing something like shoulder
shrugs where they're shugging their shoulders up with a lot

(04:32):
of weight and they're building that muscle. Now, most people
aren't doing that. They're not bodybuilding, they're not in the
gym even doing shoulder shrugs. It's a very you know,
rare exercise that people would actually do but what are
people doing every single day that activates and stresses that
muscle out, not strengthens it, but stresses it out. Well,

(04:55):
think of stress. I do career days at local schools
and all have kids come to the front and I'll
say show me without speaking, only using your body, kind
of like charades. Show me someone who's healthy, and the
kid will stand up really tall. Show me someone who's sick.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
What do they do? They slouch forward.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Show me someone who's happy, they go up. Show me
someone who's sad, they slous forward, same position. Show me
someone who's in a good, good state, like positive, they
go up. And then show me someone who's stressed out.
They go into that same position. So the positions are
all the same. And it's this is that people's heads

(05:39):
come forward and their shoulders come up. This is a
protective mechanism. Biologically speaking, when our bodies get stressed, you
shrug your shoulders to protect your neck. Your neck is
a very sensitive area and when you're stressed out, like biologically,
or you could even say evolutionarily, we were design to

(06:00):
protect our neck. Similar to a dog. A dog will
put its tail between its legs. Why because when it's
stressed it protects its genitals. It's protecting an important part
of its body. So what does a human do. A
human goes into like a fetal position to protect their
internal organs, to protect the soft.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
Spots of their body.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
So that you know, thousands of years ago, if you
were getting attacked by an animal, you would roll up
into a ball. That's what they say to do if
you get attacked by like a bear or something, roll
up into a ball because you're protecting all.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Your important parts.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Okay, but what's happening is that these little things are
happening throughout the day and they ca them turn into
bigger things, little stresses. You know, work related stress, money
related stress, relational stress, kids stress, google stress, studying stress,
I mean, you name it, turning on the news, all
these things they add up. They add up, they add up,

(06:54):
and it's kind of like death by a thousand cuts,
and all of a sudden, over time, people do develop
this stress posture and it almost becomes kind of who
they are, what they are, and they walk around all
day with their head coming forward and their shoulders up,
and the body will let you know that there's something wrong.
It'll feedback to you and say Okay, you can be

(07:16):
like that for maybe a day or two or an
hour or two. But if you're like that for days, weeks,
months at a time, your body's going to let you
know that it's time to change. So it lets you
know with a symptom or what I call a signal,
like a fire alarm, and they saying, hey, whatever you're
doing isn't working. So it lets you know that through pain, discomfort, tension, stress,

(07:38):
stiffness in your neck. Now, most people think, Okay, that's
just because I've been sitting on the computer. Mor it's
because they've been working harder.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
I've had a busy week.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
I need to go get a massage, I need to stretch,
And they don't necessarily fix the issue. They're not fixing
that poor posture, so then these problems can start to
get worse. And most headaches, it's say ninety plus percent
of headaches come from the neck. They're called cervicogenic, cervical
meaning neck genic, meaning generating from They're generating from the

(08:09):
neck and they go upwards, typically to the base of
the skull, to the top of the eyes, to the
sides of the head, and those are the most common
presentations of headaches, and people get tension in their eyes,
they get tension on the side of their head, they
get tension in the back of their neck, and that.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Leads to a headache. And what do people do?

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Advil time and all whatever medication they want to put
in their supplements and again not fixing the problem, turning
off the signal, turning off the symptom, or altering it,
but not fixing or getting to the cause of the problem.
Then if these problems still aren't fixed, well, now the
spine can start to degenerate, and that's what we'll focus

(08:50):
on after the break here, and you can start to
notice more severe symptoms like numbness and tingling referred pain
where the pain charge starts to travel outwards out to
the shoulders, down into the elbows, down into the wrist.
I'm miss and tinging the fingers, and that's letting you
know that not only there is there a problem, but
it's a chronic problem and it's probably been there ten, fifteen,

(09:12):
twenty years and now it's time to take care of it.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
So stay tuned. We'll focus more about these causes.

Speaker 5 (09:18):
My name is Wriney Allen and I'm a widow. My
husband Ryan died. We never thought we'd ever have to
use life insurance, but the unexpected happened with Ethos. Signing
up was fast and one hundred person we'd like to read.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
Listen to this as a podcast format pop on the
iHeart Radio app completely free. So then the iHeartRadio app
and start typing in Maximize Living Radio with Doctor Greg
O'Neil and you'll see it auto populate. You can click
on that, you can follow or subscribe to it, and
you can even get notifications when new episodes are dropped.
You can even send clips to your friends and let

(09:51):
them know that this is something that could help them.
You can also listen on Amazon Alexa or Amazon Music
and Amazon Audible as well. So today I'm talking about
these common issues that people deal with and how they
can seem small, seem little, but they can start to
build up over time and get worse. So the goal
is you want to you have to figure out what's

(10:11):
causing the problems. That's the ultimate overreaching theme of today's show.
And it sounds simple, but it's very profound. It's very
profound because I would I ask this people all the time.
So when I go out into the community and I'm
doing like a health screening. So I'll do health screenings
periodically where they'll be set up a booth at like
a health bare or home show, or go do like

(10:32):
lunch and learn at someone's place of business, and I'll
have people fill out a brief health survey letting me
know what their concerns are with their health, and I'll
go over that with them, and I always ask the
same question as anyone ever told you what's causing this problem?
Very rarely, I could probably name a handful of times
that people actually say yes. Overwhelmingly people say no, they

(10:55):
have no idea. Now, these are the same people that
have been to doctors, medical doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists, you know,
you name it. They've been there for massage and no
one's told them what's causing the problem. Now, that to me,
that's crazy. But it also shows how treatment focused, or

(11:15):
how symptom relief or symptom management focused, our society is
and how it's become. And that's because we adhere to
an allopathic model of healthcare, where it's focusing on getting
rid of the symptoms. So if you have neck pain,
we need to get rid of the neck pain. We
need to get rid of the numbness and tingling, the neuropathy.

(11:37):
We want it gone now. Now that appeases to people's
base instincts. When people are stressed, they move into fight
or flight or freeze. But we'll focus on fight or flight.
You don't think you're not thinking big picture when you're
in screaming back pain, you blow a disc out, or
you have numbness and tingling down your hands. I get
that you want the pain gone. You're not sitting there

(11:57):
thinking about the philosophy of allopathic medicine versus vitalistic health care.
I understand that. But the issue is is that if
you keep turning to the allopathic model and keep trying
to turn off the symptom, you never get to the
root cause of the problem, and then that symptom keeps
reappearing and the issue. Then the issue is people start
blaming their body. They start blaming their genetics, they start

(12:19):
blaming their age, they start blaming their circumstances, when in reality,
it's how you're taking care of it that's the problem.
You can see this on a big at a macro level,
people talk about we want to get health insurance for everyone,
as an example of if everyone could have health insurance,
then everyone would be healthy, and that doesn't work. You

(12:39):
even look at countries with nationalized health care systems.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
Now can they have better?

Speaker 3 (12:46):
You know, the United States still legs behind, and there's
many different reasons for that. But what are They still
deal with obesity, They still deal with chronic pain, they
still deal with depression, they still deal with all these problems.
And you could say, well, is this just part of
the human condition or is it not how the healthcare
is packaged but what it actually is? What am I

(13:06):
saying by that? Your health insurance, how much you pay,
the premiums, the politics of it.

Speaker 4 (13:12):
That's like the box.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
So picture like a present, a box with a ribbon
and a bow on top. That's like how it's packaged.
And it's like, here's your healthcare. It looks beautiful, it
didn't cost very much. Your employer's going to pay for it,
or the government's going to pay for it, and you're like, ooh,
that looks nice. Now you open up the box. I
won't say what I really think is inside of there,

(13:34):
but you can kind of get the idea. It's still
the same thing. It's still drugs still medication still treatment.
No matter how you package it, no matter what bou
or box, or how pretty you make it look or sound,
it's still the same thing that doesn't work because it's
diametrically opposed to how our body heals and functions. Our

(13:54):
body needs one thing and it's delivering a different thing.
Our body's trying to tell us one thing and it's
turning off that thing.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
The simple analogy is in your house, there's a fire
in the kitchen, you're sleeping in the bedroom. The fire
alarm goes off in the bedroom. Is that good or bad?
That's good, very good, just letting you know that. So
the first part of the analogy is that this symptom
rarely is where the source of the problem is. Okay,

(14:25):
So the symptoms the fire alarm, the source of the
problem is the fire. They're in two different places. That
makes sense.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
Now the fire department comes. Do you want them turning
off your fire alarm or do you want them fighting
the fire? You want them to fight the fire. Go
to the area where the fire alarm is indicating, Hey,
there's a fire in the house. You need to find
that fire eliminate it. Now, Over time, it might take
a minute or two or a few seconds. If you've

(14:54):
ever like burnt food before, and it's so annoying, the
fire alarms going off and you get the smoke and
you're waving picture mom or Grandma waving the towel at
the fire alarm. You're like, turn off, turn off, turn off.
It will turn off, I promise you. Once you get
the smoke out of there, the fire out of there,
the carbon monoxide whatever, the fire alarm will turn off. Okay,

(15:16):
imagine the fire department came and they just turned off
the fire alarm.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
And then left.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
How's that gonna do?

Speaker 4 (15:24):
Not good?

Speaker 3 (15:25):
Now, in the short term, you're like in your bed,
you're sleeping, it's loud, there's flashing lights. It's extremely annoying.
They come turn off the fire alarm, like ooh, that's better.
Right Momentarily, where you take a medication, a pain reliever,
a fever reducer, painkiller, in the moment, you're like, oh,
that feels good, the pain is gone. But you did

(15:46):
not get to the source. You did not get to
the fire. You did not get to the cause. So
a chiropractor comes in and assesses. Think of a chiropractor
like a building inspector. We're not waiting till the house
falls apart, burns down. We want to see where there
could be potential problems.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
And we're going to correct those before.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
The symptoms appear, to when a house before the foundation fails,
before mold appears. Just like when you get a new house,
you get a building a home inspection done, or you
should remember, everyone was skipping those for a time because
you want to make sure that your investment is solid.
It's the same thing with your body.

Speaker 4 (16:22):
Don't just wait. You don't just wait. Like with your house.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
You're like, eh, the foundation's fine. Once the house starts sinking,
I'll know the foundation was a problem.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
Once the mold spores.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Once I get sick with pneumonia, then I'll know there's
a mold problem. Then we'll fix it. Okay, once the
house burns down, then we'll call the fire department, because
once the flames come up the top of the house,
the neighbors will see, they'll call the fire department. We
don't do that with our house, but people, you're dealing
that with your.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Body every day.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
You're waiting for symptoms to happen. To take care of yourself,
I can't not repeat this because it's the hardest or
to grasp. I remember I did my first few radio shows,
and this is back when I used to pick up
the call like live answer people's questions. Now that the
show is pre recorded, but i'd be on the other

(17:13):
end of people called I would pick them up now
with kids and everything like that. Yeah, anyways, I'll never forget.
Someone called they said, I love your radio show. I
listen every week. I've probably listened since you've been on
the last like two years.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
Listen every day.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
My great, Thanks for listening. Do you have any concerns
or would you like to make an appointment? They're like,
oh no, no, I have satica. Now, once it gets worse,
I'll give you a call and then they'll like see
you later. By I'm like, what did they I wanted
to say, so you'd like you you listen or you
heard my show. I should say that you heard my show,

(17:50):
but you didn't listen. Some of you are hearing what
I'm saying right now, maybe you're not listening, So I'm
gonna repeat it again. Your symptom is not the problem.
It's the signal. Like the fire alarm. We want to
find the fire. Okay, so think of the neck pain
you're dealing with, the tension that you're dealing with, the
headaches that you're dealing with. That's a symptom, a signal

(18:13):
that there's something going on with your neck, most likely
the alignment of your spine. All right, that's all well
and good. I can get behind that. So the first thing,
what do we do? We want to look at someone's posture.
And I've explained before the break is that you look
at like a stress posture. Someone's sitting on a computer
most of the day, someone driving long hour, someone's sitting

(18:34):
in a recliner, someone on their phone, someone who's generally
stressed out, who's dealing with a.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
Lot, whose plate is full. What do people almost everyone,
what does their head do?

Speaker 3 (18:43):
Their head comes forward, their head extends upwards, and their
shoulders come up.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
So what does that do?

Speaker 3 (18:50):
That puts stress on the shoulders, It puts pressure on
the base of the neck, puts pressure on the top
of the neck. So people deal attention in their shoulders,
pain in their neck, and then if it's not corrected.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
That starts to deal with headaches. They start to deal
with headache problems.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
Then if it's really not corrected if you let it go.
Now you're dealing with pain going out into the shoulders
and you think you have all these shoulder problems. It's
really coming from your neck. And then it starts going
down to the elbows, the wrists, the fingers, the hand,
numbinous and tingling, neuropathy. You get told all these different things.
So we want to correct that posture, move it back

(19:27):
into a proper alignment that takes pressure off the area.
And the cool part is your body heals itself. This
is the other part where you're different than your car.
You're different than a house. You're different than your dishwasher
or your washing machine. Once those things break down, you
have to replace the parts. Okay, so God didn't give

(19:47):
you replacement parts, but he gave you an amazing power,
a superpower in your body to heal itself. So if
you cut your hand, it automatically knows how to heal
that cut. It fills in the skin tissue and the
sk tissue, and it miraculously heals it through the creation
of new life in your body. That's happening all the time,
all the time, right now, right now, there are cells

(20:09):
in your body. There's your immune system is going around
and just taking out killing hundreds of thousands of bacteria
and viruses in your body right now while you're sitting there,
listen to me say this. So that same power that's
there is healing you. All we have to do is
remove interference, get out of the way, get barriers out

(20:31):
of the way for your body to heal itself. So
if you're having a headache due to lack of nerve
flow or blood flow to your head because of improper
posture or pinching and pressure in different areas in your neck,
then all we have to do is get those those
structures back into their normal alignment. Take the kink out
of the hose, if you will, and the body will

(20:52):
heal and the symptom will go away, and the headache
will go away, and then better Yet, you make the
spine healthier and less prone to things like degeneratives, dis disease,
and arthritis and other things like spinal stenosis, and the
one thing nobody wants, which is getting shorter as you
get older, which has one hundred percent to do with

(21:12):
your spine. So stay tuned, we'll talk about that. Look,
we're not here to judge your taste in music. But
we do have something to say about your choice and chicken.

Speaker 5 (21:21):
Because Chicken's one place where good enough isn't good enough.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
Doctor Greg O'Neil. Today I'm talking about common everyday issues
and what you can do to get to the cause
of them. I've been focusing on the neck to start.
We'll switch to the lower back here at the end
of the show. Really important with the net with the
cervical curve is that when you look at someone from
the side, you want to see like a C shaped

(21:48):
curve in the neck. You want to see that. But
what happens is with through stress por posture, people's heads
coming forward, people sitting at computers, or sitting in the recliners,
or sitting in their car. Everything in our society pulls
our heads forward. Never mind if someone is ill or
if they're really stressed, they adopt a stressed posture and

(22:10):
they get pulled forward. And what happens is is these
the muscles in the back become stretched out and weak,
and the muscles in the front become very tight. So
it's very common for people to have shoulder pain or
kind of chest pain in the front and we're in
and around their peck muscles, and they'll mistake that for
like rotator cuff issues. Have a I'll just tell this
in a story. I have a patient who comes in.

(22:31):
His name's Brad. Now Brad's an executive and he spends
a lot of his time sitting, sitting in meetings, sitting
at his computer, sending and answering emails on teleconferences, things
like that. So much of his time his head is
coming forward. And he told me, like sitting in meetings
for an hour at a time, he would have to
move and shift constantly because his lower back would bother

(22:52):
him so much and move his neck, tilt his head
to the point where people were saying like are like
people don't know them, Like he's in a sales meeting
or something. It was like are you okay, Like you're
moving around a lot, are you uncomfortable? And he would
start having to say like, yeah, I'm in a in
a lot of pain. And so a friend of his recommended, well,
actually he listened to R. J.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
Harris on the radio show.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
Friend recommended chiropractic. He heard r. J. Harris talking about
my practice on his morning program, decided to give us
a call and coming in from the side, you want
to have a nice curve in the neck. He had
lost a lot of the curve and because of that,
shoulders are coming forward, putting a lot of pressure on
the peck muscles. Now, this is the guy who's in shape,
who works out, but he was dealing with a lot

(23:32):
of pain in his arms, and he was wondering if
this was like just like a rotator cuff issue, Like
what is this? And I started working on his neck
and the one day he mentioned the shoulder, So I
stretched out his shoulder, started to work on those peck
muscles to pull those back, started to work on his
head to pull that back in the right alignment, through
specific exercises that he does in the office and at home,

(23:52):
and through the adjustments. And I can tell you just
in a few adjustments, he's like, I can't tell you
how much better I feel my shoulders. I don't feel
pain in my shoulders anymore. I can work out my
shoulders without pain. I don't have to think about that.
And the best part is he can sit in a
meeting without having a squirm and wretch around because he's
feeling better. And that's the cool part is that I

(24:15):
love hearing that because people come up and I can say,
how's the next pain in the back? Pan like, oh,
it's better, it's great. Now I've been doing this thirteen years,
It's like, okay, I've heard that about it a million
times and it's wonderful and it's great. But I like
to hear what impact that's had on their life. So
I've always ask people goals, like what are your goals?

Speaker 4 (24:32):
Come in here.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
People will say for my next pay in my back
pain to go away. I'm like, okay, great, But what
would be different in your life if those things went away,
if those symptoms run away, and we corrected those issues,
we got to the cost, what will be better? And like,
while I go gardening again, I stopped playing pickleball, I
stopped playing golf. I'm uncomfortable at work. I'd be able
to sit longer, I'd be able to go on vacation

(24:53):
without pain. Those are the things that I like to
hear because it's it gets people zooming out out in
their life and seeing the big picture too, because I
get it, when you're in pain, it's all small picture.
And that's what the medical world does too. It's all
small picture. Your pain, your pain, your pain. You look
at commercials on TV. Are you fat take this drug?
Are you in pain take this strug? Or you depressed

(25:15):
take this drug. It's just all it's all so simple. Rights,
it's candy for the I don't know, it's just candy
for the simple minded. I guess now. When I say
simple minded, I don't mean people are dumb. It's just
we're thinking simple. We have to expand out. We have
to think like, Okay, how is this affecting my life?
If this keeps going the way that it's going and

(25:36):
gets worse, what's that going to do to me ten years,
five years down the road, ten years down the road,
twenty years down the road. People don't think like that.
And when people don't think like that, it leads to big,
big problems that come up quote unquote out of nowhere. Meanwhile,
it had been building for a very long time. So
with Brad, like he's he tells me about every adjustment
it comes in. He's like, I can't tell you how

(25:57):
much better I'm feeling.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
I feel great.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
My net feels much better. I mean able to sit
without pain. Now, if that sounds like you, maybe you're
listening to this. So the first time the twentieth time.
Those symptoms that you're dealing with, we have to figure
out what's causing them. So that's what we do, specific
an exam where you'll come in and you'll see me.
You know, you hear a lot of these different radio
shows and infomercials and it's like, hey, call this number

(26:18):
and you'll talk to some random guy. No, you're actually
gonna see me doctor Greg O'Neil. We'll sit down, we'll
go through your paperwork, what your concerns are, what your
goals are. Call that a consultation. I'm going to go
through a specific exam to find the cause of the
symptoms that you're dealing with. So whether that's it's your posture,
your range of motion, help patient of your spine, feeling

(26:39):
what's going on, and then we do take if necessary,
we take X rays in the office to see exactly
what's happening with your spine. It's a super simple process.
Normally the total cost is one hundred and forty dollars.
You do get half off your first exam and X
rays if you call in and mention that you're from
the radio show or the podcast, So please give us

(27:00):
a call. It's seven one seven six two seven zero
three sixty five seven one seven six two seven zero
three sixty five. Also hop on our website lit Itsfamily
Chiropractic dot com. There you can request an appointment, learn

(27:20):
more about our office and our staff members at work
there read more about us.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
Let's see if we're the right fit for you.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
But again seven one seven six two seven zero three
sixty five. Again super simple, first visit, you get half off, well,
then we'll sit down and see what's going on. If
you have any insurance cars this common question people say,
what about insurance? What about insurance? Please don't expect insurance
to pay one hundred percent for chiropractic care. It's just
it's just not what it's designed to do with copays

(27:48):
and co insurances and everything like that. But what we
do is, we'll have you bring your cards in with
you the first day that you come in. We will
call and verify and let you know by your following
appointment what's going on with that, But more importantly, what's
going on with any exam and X ray findings that
we happen to find, and then how we can help
you and get you adjusted and start moving things in
the right direction. So again seven one seven six two

(28:11):
seven zero three sixty five. All right, let me paint
out this road here. If you do correct something or
you don't. If you so, if someone the average person,
they're dealing with the nect tension of pain, you know,
it starts out as just like almost like denial, like, uh,
you know, is just yeah, I just slept wrong. It's
just this that's like bargaining. Right.

Speaker 4 (28:32):
Then you move into like, oh, I guess.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
I'm just getting old now, acceptance, like false acceptance, and
then people just go through life trying to either alleviate
the symptom or completely ignore it, or take medications or
do like small little things that they don't stick with,
whether it's an exercise program, a stretching program. Maybe they
get adjusted here and there, but it's not something that
they've ever been figured out what was going on. And

(28:56):
that's where they meet someone like me. I'm like, has
anyone ever told you what's causing this problem? And the
answer nine point five times out of ten is no,
No one knows what's happening. So what happens is that
by the time I'm doing imaging on people and assessing
the alignment of the spine, not only have the majority
of people lost normal alignment of the spine, but they've
lost the structural integrity of the spine. What do I

(29:18):
mean by that? When you want to have a C
shaped curve, like I said, a nice curve in the
neck of forty five degrees. If you lose that curve,
it follows a progression, and it's called Wolf's law wol Ffs.

Speaker 4 (29:32):
Doctor Wolf.

Speaker 3 (29:33):
And what they studied was that how as the spine
begins to degenerate, you can pretty much model or predict
how long that problem has been there pretty accurately. Within
about a five year span, and in about ten to
fifteen years, your neck can go straight. It can be
the start of degeneration. In twenty it can be even

(29:56):
a little less than about twenty years. People can deal
with phase two D generation where the discs start to
fail and the bones start to spur out. Now we
see people this can be accelerated through sports injuries, like
if you played football or for myself, playing ice hockey.
This can also be accelerated if you've been in a
car accident or suffered whiplash. But we're now seeing it

(30:18):
happen even younger in people due to cell phone use
and unfortunately kids being given iPads, like you see the
iPad kids out there where.

Speaker 4 (30:26):
They're on their iPad.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
All the time, not only at home, but also at
school where the curriculum they're doing is technology focus, where
kids will actually be given an iPad to take home
and that's what they use. And that was one of
the reasons we send our kids to a Christian school.
And the number one reason for that is obvious, because
it's our faith and we want that to be instilled

(30:49):
in them not only at home but also at school.
And the number two reason was is that our local
public school in the elementary program was giving the kids
an iPad and that's how kids were learning. And now
that's been shown to giving kids a technology at such
a young age delays reading comprehension because when you go

(31:11):
to look at a page to read, you start at
the top and you go left to right. When you
look at an iPad, where are you looking, You're looking
all over because stuff is happening all over the iPad. Now,
as an adult, you can discern that because like maybe
you even see an iPad till your twenties or thirties
or forties or later, so you know, you can pick
up a book and read it, then you can look

(31:32):
at an iPad. But kids don't have that distinction because
they're starting with them so young. So I know a
reading therapist personally, and she said that kids will go
to look at a page like she has to teach
them how to read it from the top and left
to right, because they'll look at a page a book
like they're looking at an iPad. They'll look all over
imagine looking seeing the two pages and looking all over

(31:53):
it like looking at all four corners, looking in the middle.
They can't track where they should start because they're used
to looking at technology. Such a young age, like under
the age of two years old. Parents are giving them
these screens to just sit on. It's crazy, it's not
good for you. And never mind, that can start to
wear down the neck at a very young age. And
then if you if this is added over time, over time,

(32:14):
over time, by twenty years, even if they didn't have
an accident like a big trauma, that's going to start
leading to severe degeneration. And we're seeing that in people
in their twenties now, very severe degeneration in the neck.
Never Mind, if people in their forties fifty sixties that
can have lasting and permanent impacts on their quality of health.

(32:35):
Stay tune. We'll talk about degeneration and steps that can
be done to actually stop it and in some cases
even reverse it.

Speaker 4 (32:41):
So stay tuned.

Speaker 6 (32:43):
Hi, it's R. Jay Harris. I've been listening to doctor
Greg O'Neil from Linde's Chiropractic for years. He makes so
much sense I've become a patient. His adjustments have made
a big difference in my life. If you're in pain,
have back or neck issues, or just want to feel
and function better, called Dot Greg today. He'll give you
fifty percent off your first visit and any necessary X

(33:05):
race like he did for me. Call Livitt's Family Chiropractic
seven one seven six two seven zero three six'.

Speaker 5 (33:12):
Five my name Is Whitney allen And i'm a. Widow
after my husband. Died the last THING i wanted to
think about was many ethos made it affordable to get life.
Insurance signing up was fast and one hundred percent with.

Speaker 3 (33:23):
Doctor greg O'Neill talking about everyday issues that people are
dealing with and how they can have big consequences as not,
corrected but also can lead to big wins and big
life changes if they are. Corrected so it sounds so
simple and it reads, simple but just the doing it
is the hard, part isn't. It LIKE i would bet almost,

(33:43):
Everyone i've never had someone disagree with me When i'm,
like you, know you're.

Speaker 4 (33:46):
Dealing with that next.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
Pain would it be better to get to the cause
of it and correct it or would it be better
to just take a pain? Medication, heck even medical doctors would, say, sure,
yeah you want to you want to fix, it you know,
Yeah so it's, like why are we so folks on pain?
Management people say IF i could just manage my, pain
and that's WHERE i Full i'll stop someone to a

(34:07):
point Like i'm very nice in, person but When i'll,
say you, know what are your goals coming in? Here
and people, say, oh pain, Management And i'm, like, no
ain't wrong. Answer so we don't do. Pain we don't manage, pain,
okay we don't want. To like, debt you don't want
to manage your. Debt you want to build an, income.
Okay and then by building an, income what's going to

(34:30):
happen to your? Debt it's gonna shrink and it's go.
Away but then better yet you're going to have prosperity
and peace of mind and, security and then that money
can be, used maybe you'll upgrade your house or your
standard of, living help other, people, charities things like, that
so that you're not just focused on getting out of the.
Debt we want to focus on the big picture moving. Forward,

(34:50):
okay some of the my friends on the financial radio
shows will be able to talk to you more about.

Speaker 4 (34:55):
That but look at your. Health if people, say.

Speaker 3 (34:56):
WELL i just want to get out of pain OR
i just want to manage the, pain that's pretty low,
level low level. Expectations AND i understand why people have
those goals because that's the goals they expect with our
modern healthcare, system because they're so used to just being
shoved on a pill or a simple. Stretcher you're do
this one thing and it'll maybe help.

Speaker 4 (35:15):
You what what we've got to, do LIKE i said.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
Earlier is figure out what's causing this issue and start
to remove. That, now what does how does chiropractic play
a role in? This it's it's pretty simple but. Profound
in that role of chiropractice is introducing proper motion into
the joints of the. Spine the reason they get. Stuck
you get stuck for the muscle sees. Up they start
to tighten, up and then the joints themselves aren't. Moving

(35:39):
and when the joints don't, move your brain does not
like that at. All your brain cares a lot about
where your spine is at in time and, space and
if it doesn't, move it's then stress signals to the,
brain like something's wrong, here and your brain cares so
much about it or it's so interested in.

Speaker 4 (35:55):
It because of its.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
Being your spinal quarters on the. Inside so when the
brain senses problems with the, spine it assumes problems with
the spinal cord for good, reason and then that creates
a massive stress response of muscles tightening up and muscle
guarding and muscle. Spasms if you've ever dealt with a
muscle guarding or muscle, spasm it's not. Fun and what
do people do for? That and the craziest thing people

(36:19):
do is take muscle. Relaxers so your body's trying to
guard and protect and now you're telling the brain not
to do. That so people become totally disconnected from their,
body totally disconnected because they're taking muscle relaxers and pain
reducers and antidepressants and thyroid, medications blood pressure, medications cholesterol. Medications,

(36:40):
NOW i want to be clear, Here i'm not telling
you to go home and flush all these things down the.
Toilet i'm not saying. That but we have to start figuring, Out,
okay why why AM i dealing with this? Condition why
AM i on this? Medication what's the long term plan?
Here AM i just taking this the rest of my?
Life what are we doing? Here, Okay so let's focus
on the neck. Again and if you've lost a normal,

(37:02):
curve it's gonna your spine will start to degenerate and
people will literally lose.

Speaker 4 (37:07):
Height when you see.

Speaker 3 (37:08):
People lose, like they, say ALL i lost a quarter
inch of height or half inch. Height All i'm just getting,
Older it's, like, no where did that height? Go where
did that come? From was it from your? Bones people, say,
oh to your. Porosis, no that's not. It it's from
the disks of your. Spine so you have your spinal.
Column one third of the height of your spinal column
are the, discs which is that material mostly made of

(37:31):
water between the. Bones and so what happens is if
your head comes, forward those discs don't move, properly and
water doesn't come in and, out nutrition doesn't come in and,
out oxygen doesn't come in and, out so they start
to and essentially die or degenerate within your. Body, Okay
so terms like neuropathy opathy means, death the death of the.

(37:54):
Nerve so when someone's imagine the doctor said to, You
i'm going to diagnose you with, Neuropathy you're, like, oh, okay.
Okay imagine the doctor said to, You i'm going to
diagnose you with death of your nerve endings in your
feet or in your. Hands that would get your, attention wouldn't.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
It, yeah it.

Speaker 3 (38:13):
Would, Yeah i'm going to diagnose you with death of
the cervical disks in your, neck the, degeneration the dying of.

Speaker 4 (38:21):
The, disks.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
Disease people be, like oh my, gosh this is a.

Speaker 4 (38:25):
Part but what the people.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
Do we don't want to face, it so we brush it.
Off i'm just saying. Things i'm just getting.

Speaker 4 (38:31):
Older its just the way it.

Speaker 3 (38:33):
Is my mom dealt with, this my dad dealt with,
this my grandpa and grandma dealt with. This and it's
our way of our ego protecting our mind so we
don't have to face the horrors of, morbidity, immortality when in,
reality what we have to do is face. Them So
i'm going to give you one of my favorite quotes
of the. Year if fear insists on, knocking meet it

(38:55):
at the. Door if fear insists on, knocking meet it
at the. Door so if you hear the knocking of old,
age the knocking of morbidity or, mortality or going in
the nursing, home or being afraid to go to the,
chiropractor being afraid to take a chance on, yourself to
step up to take care of. YOURSELF i think as
many people fear success as they do, failure because with

(39:19):
success comes, responsibility success in your. Health and how do
people say.

Speaker 4 (39:23):
That they're, like, well.

Speaker 3 (39:23):
IF i started eating, healthy Then i'll always have to eat.
HEALTHY i go to the, Chiropractor i'll always have to do,
that or go to the. Gym it's, like, well, YEAH
i mean you want to be, healthy, Right, like there's
just things that your body needs to be. Healthy there's
five essentials of health that we talk. About your, mindset your,
nutrition your, exercise proper spinal, alignment minimizing. Toxins it's all

(39:45):
a daily, pursuit a thing that you have to do
on an ongoing. Basis can't just eat one salad and lose,
weight can't get one. Adjustment it can help and all
your problems are going to be. Gone like healing takes,
time but also generation takes. Time the death of your
nerves and all the stuff that people, have, neuropathy, pain,

(40:06):
syndromes those things took, time but they the difference is
they didn't take your attention because people can just you
just kind of walk through, life meander through. Life these
problems build up just like growing weeds in a, garden
and to. Change it can be natural to be a
little afraid to change because our nervous, system once we
get in the pattern of routine and, habit we want

(40:27):
to keep that and we want things to just be
predictable and.

Speaker 4 (40:30):
Safe but the.

Speaker 3 (40:32):
Path that you're on is not, safe and it's not
good because you're heading down that road of degeneration and, arthritis, osteoporosis,
osteopenia all those things that you would want to, avoid
that you didn't want to deal, with that your grandma's dealt,
with or your, grandpa your, mom or your. Dad, well
it's going to take you getting on a different path
and starting a new and blazing a new. Trail and

(40:54):
that can come with. Fear and so if that fear is,
knocking don't hide from, it don't run away away from.
It need it where it's. At what is it saying to?
You i'm afraid of? What what's the worst thing that can? Happen,
okay you fall over and you die or.

Speaker 4 (41:10):
Something you know WHAT i? Mean, like what's the?

Speaker 3 (41:12):
WORD i always think of that in. Life it's, like
what IF i do, this what's the worst thing that can?

Speaker 4 (41:17):
HAPPEN i always had to kind of have that.

Speaker 3 (41:19):
Thought it was almost like my little crew was loose
in my brain BECAUSE i would do things that would be, scary,
like for, example like doing marketing campaigns or public speaking
and this and. THAT i would be a little, nervous BUT.

Speaker 4 (41:31):
I would never be really.

Speaker 3 (41:32):
Scared and people, like how are you not scared to
go up to speak or even on your radio show
and do? This i'm, like, WELL i don't, know what's
the worst that can? Happen someone comes in calls in
and tells me that they hate my radio, show to,
well go get your. Own THEN i don't. Know it's
like we have to look at it and see what
it is that. Fear what Did Winston churchill? Say the
only thing to.

Speaker 4 (41:51):
Fear is fear? Itself?

Speaker 3 (41:53):
True do we step up to the thing we know
that we should, do but, well maybe we're afraid to
do or resisting. It we have to do something. Different
now here's the cool, part as we talked about going
down that path you don't want to go down of
pain losing or gaining, weight of obesity or medications or
back pain or all those, things is THAT i can help.

(42:14):
You we can help you walk down that new. Path
and that's, like that's kind of like my. Job i'm
like half, chiropractor half walking with people in the, wilderness
so to, speak and guide. In THEN i your picture
of bridge and to that, person imagine a bridge that
you can't, see BUT i know that it's. There And
i'm running across AND i have my light And i'm, like,

(42:36):
hey come, on it's better over here on this other.
Side i'm going to help you, all hold your. Hand
and they're, like, Well i'm. Scared i've never been across here.
Before i'm, Like i've been across here a thousand.

Speaker 4 (42:44):
Times look at.

Speaker 3 (42:45):
ME i can run back and.

Speaker 4 (42:46):
FORTH i can do. It, well that's easy for you to.

Speaker 3 (42:48):
Say you know you're this or you're, that And i'm
this And i'm.

Speaker 4 (42:51):
That it's like.

Speaker 3 (42:51):
Great all you have to, do, though is just take a.
Step you can think all those, thoughts you can be,
afraid but all you have to do is take a
step forward and start doing one thing, different just one
thing in your.

Speaker 4 (43:02):
Life.

Speaker 3 (43:03):
Now on a previous, SHOW i talked about just many
different simple changes you can, make whether it's eating more,
protein or drinking more water or not late night. Snacking,
now what emerging people to do is to focus on
their spinal health because if you're, not it's not a
question of if there's going to be a, problem it's just.
When and for the majority of, you you're dealing with
it right. Now you may not just realize it, fully

(43:27):
but it's something that needs to be. Corrected So i'm
here to help if you're. Ready i'm going to put
that on there that if you're, ready give me a
call Because i'm willing to. HELP i do this all,
day all day. LONG i help people with their, spines
getting them, adjusted walking them along the, path helping them
change their health mainly through their mindset and the way

(43:47):
that they're thinking about their health and that takes you
putting yourself in the driver's, seat you being in. Control,
now that could be scary at. First you can be
not sure what to, do or there can be like
it's like standing at the bottom of a mountain and
looking up and realizing there's a long way to.

Speaker 4 (44:03):
Go but that's.

Speaker 3 (44:04):
Okay because it's better to do that than to head
down the path that everyone else is heading, down which
is is not. Good it's not, good and we just
look around because statistics look at people's health. Outcomes so
