Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, guys, welcome to another week Maximize Living Radio
with your host, doctor Grey O'Neal. Today I'm going to
be talking about the concept of never going back with
your health, realizing that health is a journey and that
you're constantly moving forward one way or the other, like
time always moves forward. Okay, we can't go back, we

(00:24):
can't redo things, and so our body is either building
up into health or breaking down into sickness. It's one
or the other. So you're either walking up the hill
or you're walking you're moving down the hill, but there's
no going back to where you were because it's like
a progression. Things are always moving, You're always different. It's
kind of like there's a quote you can't step into

(00:47):
the same river twice. So you want to become who
you're meant to be next, you don't want to keep
looking back. So really, the crux of this show, like
if you're just listening to the first minute and be like,
what do I need to get at this? All you
need to do is do the next best thing. I
have a life coach, a pastor who would anytime when

(01:08):
you get off a call with him, you'd just be like,
all right, Greg, have a blessed day, Just do the
next best thing. That's like his quote, do the next
best thing in your life in all areas, like in
a conversation with your child or your spouse, or an
employer or an employee or a customer or anyone you
meet on the street. Something like that. It's like having

(01:28):
the mindset of doing the next best thing. Now, some
people could look that and it could come with pressure,
or it could come with a sense of responsibility. And
I would say that's a good thing, because there should
be a sense of urgency, pressure, responsibility with life. We
need to be in the driver's seat being responsible for
our health because you can. You can't have it both ways.

(01:53):
You can't just meander through life, do what you want
to do, e what you want to eat, say what
you want to say, like just living by off the
seat of your pants, you know, being ruled by the
flesh from a spiritual sense, and expect things to go well.
They won't. They just won't. So you can either put
the put the time, the effort to work the money,

(02:14):
the energy into it now or you're going to have
to do ten times as much later. Because I could
sit here and I've done this before, where I could
tell story after story or scenario after scenario where the
moment people lose their health, they'll quit their job, they'll
sell their house, they'll spend all their money, they'll move
you know, heaven and earth to try to get their

(02:37):
health back. God forbid. If they're diagnosed with something like cancer,
some kind of debilitating neurological disease, or their child is
stricken with a health condition, people will do anything because
on this earth, in your physical body, health is your
most important priority, okay. And when you get that mixed up,
when other things become the priority, like time, busyness, your phone, work, money,

(03:05):
all these other things, they just distract from the main purpose,
which is keeping your body in good shape, keeping your
body healthy, and then all other things kind of flow
from that. Like obviously, you know you have your spiritual health,
your relationship with God, your faith, that's number one. But
like right there, I believe that you can worship God
by how you take care of your body. And I

(03:28):
believe that when we don't take care of ourselves, when
we're feeding ourselves junk, when we're not focused on our health,
we circumvent God's laws of healing. In our body. Not
so much changing the laws themselves, but we're going against
the design and it's like we're trying to put diesel
in a gas engine. It's just not what it's designed

(03:49):
to do. So, like I have my car, funny thing,
people asking me this a lot that're like, are your
show's pre recorded? I'm like, yes, you can probably tell
by the sound that it's pre recorded. We've tried many
different avenues or ways in which I can record the
radio show, but the environment that gives me the best
acoustics is sitting in my vehicle. So right now I'm

(04:12):
sitting in my twenty twenty five onto CRV, and it's
got great sound acoustics. That's why we use it. So
it's a nice I'm looking out right now at my
neighbor's house. It's just a funny thing, like I always wonder,
like if the neighbors are out, they just see me
in here ranting and raving, talking to myself. But anyways,
the point of this is like, Okay, so I have

(04:33):
a fairly I got twenty twenty five onto CRV. It's
only like a couple year or two old. But if
I put diesel into it, and it's meant to have gas.
How's it going to run? It's not okay if I'm putting,
if I'm letting the coolant go down, if I'm not
getting un inspected, if I'm not getting the brake pads checked,
if I'm not you know, getting a rotorstick, all these

(04:54):
different aspects of the health of the vehicle. If I
just let that go, what's going to break down? And
I could sit there and say, oh, I wish, I
wish that my car was like it was when I
first got it. When I first got this car, it
ran so smoothly. It didn't clunk around, it didn't smell,
it wasn't thirty, It handled beautifully. It was It was

(05:18):
great when I first got this car. Okay, And then
if I treat it badly and it gets to a
point where it's not running smoothly, I'm looking back at
the past. What am I getting at here? That's exactly
what people do. Some of you listening right now, That's
what you do with your health. You just say things
like I wish And I've heard this a million times.

(05:41):
I wish I felt like I was when I was
twenty years old, thirty years old, a teenager. I wish
I had that energy. People will be in the office,
they'll see a kid run by, and I'll say, oh
my goodness, I wish I could just bottle up that energy.
I don't have that anymore. If only I could go back,
if only I could go back. Well, here here's the reality.

(06:01):
You can't go back. Okay, there's like my car, the
odometer reads this like, say, twenty thousand miles or thirty
thousand miles. I can't roll it back. You've got what
you've got. So if your car's got fifty thousand miles
on it, one hundred thousand miles on it, if your
body has fifty thousand or one hundred thousand or two

(06:21):
hundred thousand miles, you can't roll those odometers back. All
you can do is the next best thing to take
care of your vehicle, and your vehicle is your body.
So today's show is about making the next best choice
and practical steps to start to reinvigorate your body, revitalize
your body, energize your body, your mind, your spirit so

(06:43):
that you can continue to move forward. Because listen, moving
forward does not mean that you're going to be going
up the hill or down the hill or feeling bad
or feeling great. It's like life is going to throw
curveballs at you, but all we can do is keep
moving forward and doing the next best thing. It's like,
if you're driving at night, you have to place a

(07:06):
lot of trust in the process of driving. Okay, so
you have headlights, say you can only see like twenty
feet in front of you, thirty feet in front of you,
depending on visibility, maybe one hundred feet in front of you.
That's all you can see. You don't see the road
up ahead. You can only focus on what that light,
what that light is exposing for you, because you could

(07:28):
think of the journey of health. Like if you were
traveling from California to New York. You can't be thinking
of what's going to happen in Iowa, or what's going
to happen in Illinois, or what's going to happen in Pennsylvania.
You can only focus on what's right in front of you.
And where people really get messed up is their mind
either shoots off into the future or goes back into
the past. And when you're either off in the future

(07:51):
or you're back in the past, you're worried about things
that could happen, or you're wishing that things could go
back to the way that they once were, or you're
regretful of the things that you once did. You're not
where you are now, and you lose out on that,
and you're not being present. And when you're not being present,
you're not focused on the decisions that you need to

(08:13):
make for now, for right now, not ten years from now,
not twenty years from now. Those things will come, but
you also can't do it for twenty years ago, thirty
years ago either. You can only focus on the decision
for now. So again today I'm going to focus on Okay,
what are these little practical steps that you can do
on an everyday basis. And number one, I would say,

(08:34):
is the food that you're eating, Because doing the next
best thing, thinking about your next meal, your next snack,
the next thing that you're ingesting. You have control over that,
as much as you think you don't with all the
urges and the flesh and everything like that. You have
control with what you put in your body. And we
can start with that and move on from there to

(08:55):
other practical steps. So stay tuned for the break. All right, guys,
welcome back to the show. Doctor Gregor Neio Maximize Living
Radio Today, I'm talking about doing the next best thing
with your health, never going back with your health. And
that was kind of a cliche because you can't go
back literally, so we just have to get that out
of your mind. We can't go back physically, can't go

(09:18):
back to the past. You can't go back to the
person that you once were because you're always changing. I
said the quote, you can't step into the same river twice.
The river always change. Those water molecules, you'll never touch
the same one again. If you touch a river, like things,
life changes, life is renewed. And that even goes into
how your body heals. Most people don't know this. This

(09:38):
is a very interesting part about how your body actually heals.
Your body doesn't technically steal an individual cell, and a
damaged cell, we'll die and then new cells replace it.
So your body is constantly changing. So as an example,
you're like, you get a cut on your skin, Like

(10:00):
I'll see my kids, they'll scrape their knee or scrape
their elbow or their wrists or something like that, and
you can almost like for a young child, you can
almost watch in real time their body heal. It's amazing.
You see the scab go over and then that scab
starts to dissipate and go away, and then the new
skin underneath will form. So we kind of see that

(10:21):
with the skin. Is that like your body doesn't go
in and technically heel up that area, doesn't like, take
those those injured cells and repair them. No, they those
injured cells will die off and new cells underneath will form.
So the cut is healed on the bottom and then
through to the top and those old dead cells are

(10:42):
pushed out and then eventually off and your skin is
kind of a gross word, but fluffed off. Every fourteen days,
you have all new skin along the top layer of
your body every fourteen days. If you don't believe me,
look in your car, look in your room, look on
top of your end tables, and you see dust, and

(11:03):
the vast majority of dust, pretty much all of it
is dead skin cells everywhere, all over your car, all
over your furniture, all over your floor. This is why
it's important for cleanliness. And when you're like, if you
go in someone else's car and you see dust everywhere,
that's their dead skin everywhere in their car. It's kind

(11:24):
of nasty, right, but that's not just your skin that
renews and turns over. It's your blood cells, your liver cells,
your bone cells, your brain cells, all the cells in
your body are constantly turning over and made new. And
so this is how healing happens is you have a
six cell, a damaged cell, a new That cell will
die and the new cell will come in and replace it.

(11:46):
This is why something like cancer is such a problem
because those sick, damaged cells, those cancer cells, those neoplasms
as they're called, they have certain genes in them. They're
called the oncogene, which is like an oncologist. So the
oncogene prevents that cell from dying, and so that cell
continues to proliferate into new cells and it doesn't die.

(12:11):
And then that creates, for example, a tumor, which could
become malignant and go elsewhere. Do you actually want your
cells to die called apoptosis? You want that to happen
in your body. But here's the trick, here's the big
point here is you want the new cells to come
in healthy. And the way that you ensure that the
new cells come in healthy, well that's in large part

(12:34):
how you take care of yourself. So where do these
new cells come from like the building blocks, whether it's
the proteins or the fat, all the different things that
make up your body, the keratins and the collagens and
all these things that you hear about, Where does that
come from? Where do these raw materials come from? Just
like a building site, you see a building being made,
and you see steel, and you see brick and you

(12:56):
see wood. Okay, those are the raw materials. Those raw
materials are brought in from processing plants and factories. Well
where's that brought in in your body? It's brought in
through the food that you eat. So get this. If
you were to eat a certain food, like say you
went to McDonald's every day for fourteen months, the vast

(13:16):
majority of your body would then be made from that McDonald's.
Isn't that crazy? So on one end you're like, oh, gross,
that wouldn't be good. But the other end, it's like,
it's amazing. The human body can take junk like McDonald's
or ice cream or whatever else and somehow keep it
dulling and keep it on the rails and continue to

(13:37):
function to heal your body. So your body's an amazing machine.
It's an amazing designed organism by God. But we can
do our part. We can do our part. We're not
giving an owner's manual, but we can do our part
to give our body what it needs for good health.
And imagine if you ate good healthy foods, good healthy fats,

(14:00):
healthy meats, carbohydrates, if you ate those things for twelve
months straight, fourteen months straight, if you got on a
good habit, how are you going to feel well? Your
energy is going to improve, your sleep is going to
be better, Inflammation levels go down in your body. People
are in less pain. They don't get things like neuropathy,
they don't get things as much like back pain or headaches,

(14:21):
just by the food that they're eating. How important that is.
And so, guys, I can't stress enough that you can
start to change now. You can make changes now, because
one of the reasons people don't change they want to.
Most people stay stuck, not because they don't know what
to do. It's because they're overwhelmed trying to do everything

(14:43):
all at once. So progress is not built on make
on like the perfect decisions or the perfect plan. It's
just built on the next best decision, doing the next
best thing. I'm going to repeat that over and over
and over again. You're doing the next best thing is
what's going to get you out of the ditch. It's
what's going to push you forward. So here's a couple

(15:07):
of key points here. And this is so important because
I know you're sitting there and you might be frustrated
with your health. You've tried everything before, You've done it, like,
I get it, doctor Greg, I've heard it, blah blah
blah blah blah. But clarity again, this is like, this
is like psychology one on one. Here, your clarity how

(15:28):
you feel comes after the action, not before. So this
is the basis of cognitive behavioral therapy, is that you
have to do the action in order to feel like
you would if you did the action. That sounds kind
of silly, What does that even mean? Well, Okay, I
go to exercise. I wake up in the morning, I

(15:49):
don't feel like exercising. I don't feel like getting up.
Why because I'm laying in a comfortable bed. Okay, So
where whatever I'm doing, my brain or my body will
feel like doing that thing. So when you wake up
in the morning and you're like, I don't feel like
getting up, it's like, well, yeah, that's normost because you're

(16:09):
laying in a comfortable bed. Your body's in that environment.
It resists change. It's not going to want to necessarily
do that because you're doing something else right now. So
what do you need to do. You're not an animal.
You are able to override those reflexes of your body.
So animals are driven by hunger, they're driven by sex drives,

(16:29):
they're driven by just their flesh completely, one hundred percent
their instincts, so they can't override their reflexes. I mean
maybe dogs can if you get to know them, But
what do they say. It's like, you know, don't what's
the about the loyalty and a hungry dog or something
like that. Like if your dog was hungry and you

(16:49):
could say they love you and everything like that, they're
going to leave you for a homeless man and a stake. Okay,
if they're hungry, because they can't override that reflex. If
your dog is extremely angry and upset or something happens
where they go into that instinctual mode, you can't make
little kissy kissy sounds and get them to come out
of it. They're being over run by their instincts. Okay,

(17:11):
now we can get overrun and overwhelmed by our instincts
or what we call the flesh. You just want to
lay there, You just want to fall into temptation. You
just want to eat what you want to eat, You
want to do what you want to do. But listen,
that's not how God designed you. God designed you also
with a conscious mind. This is something that animals, for

(17:34):
the most part, don't have the executive brain where you
can make executive decisions that override your instincts and your
fleshly desires. But you're not going to feel like doing
that in the moment. It's just not how biologically you're wired.
So when you're laying in bed, you feel like laying
in bed. But once you get up and you get

(17:57):
moving your body and you start exercising, guess what you're
going to feel like exercising and moving. It's just the
hardest part is the first step is getting going. Like
for example, today, i have a bit of a busy
day today, it's a fun day. I'm gonna get up,
I was planning to exercise, I'm doing my radio show.

(18:21):
I'm then gonna go real quick, have some food, and
then I'm heading to a field trip for my son.
Who's in third grade at this time, and I'm gonna
be one of the four parents as a chaperone for
that field trip, and that's going to be all day
till about two o'clock. Then I'm gonna rush home. I'm
gonna get ready to go to the office and then
i'm gonna go adjust patients from about three o'clock till

(18:42):
about six o'clock and then I'm gonna go home. I'm
gonna already have my stuff in the car. I'm going
to then coach my other son's hockey team in their
three on three game tonight, so I'm gonna rush down
and do that. My wife's gonna get them ready. So
there's a lot of coordination now. Woke up today, Okay,
there's a lot going on. Your mind is racing? Okay,

(19:03):
got do this? Got do that? Do you think I
felt like working out? No? I did not. I felt
like sleeping in. I said, Okay, I had to be
up by this time if I wanted exercise, but I
could very easily. And I've done this many times before
and I regret it. Every time you hit the snooze button,
you change your alarm, you change the plan, you sleep

(19:23):
in more whatever. How Yeah, you can't base it on that. Now.
What I did was I got up, got the workout
clothes on, have a couple of glasses of water. I'm
not feeling like working out. I'm not feeling like working out.
Go down to my kind of area where I work out,
like my gym area. Started doing a few reps, did
a couple sets of the weight training that I was doing.

(19:44):
Guess what after I do one set, two sets, three sets.
Now I feel like exercising. The energy comes, the brain
clarity comes, you feel like you're awake. So now I'm
doing this radio show, I'm like, man, I feel great.
I already exercised today. I got the X, Y and
Z done off the books because I'd made the action.
Now the opposite. If I slept in, if I didn't

(20:05):
get ready, if I just got up and got the
kids off to school and was rushing around and go, go, go,
and didn't get myself ready beforehand, how am I going
to feel? Maybe a little tired, maybe a little lethargic. Oh,
I need a coffee, I need a tea, I need
some caffeine. It's because I didn't make that next best
step when I got up What am I getting at
here is that mental clarity comes after the action, not before.

(20:28):
So you have to make the step first. Then you're
going to feel like making that step. Your brain is
kind of or your feelings, I should say not. Your
brain is always legging behind your actions. Okay, here's point
number two before we get into this. Waiting for the
ideal time is how people stay stuck for years. There
is no ideal time. Life is always going to be nuts.

(20:50):
It's always going to be crazy, depending how you look
at it. So the ideal time is twenty years ago,
but we can't do that. Like I said, the next
best time is now, So stay tuned. We'll show you
to do that. All right, guys, welcome back to the
show Maximize Living Radio with Doctor Greg O'Neal. Please check
out our website. Let its Family Chiropractic dot com. Check
out our YouTube channel that It's Family Chiropractic. Yeah, it's

(21:14):
a good time having fun here doing on radio show.
I have three young children, eight employees, busy practice. Life
can be full, life is fun. It's all how you
look at it, right. So, Yeah, there's days where you
feel like doing stuff. There's days that you don't that's
just all the feelings. You know. You don't want to

(21:36):
be all up some of this is I think it's
going to land for somebody here. Don't be all up
in your feelings. I get it. You wake up, you're grumpy,
blah blah blah blah blah. I get it. I've been there.
Trust me. I know. Okay, I know that's my wife.
I'm very vocal about how I feel. But the difference is,
by and large, I'm going to take that next step

(21:57):
forward and you keep it moving. That's what I'm going
to urge you guys to do. You just got to
keep it going, keep it moving. Now, does that mean
you just ignore your feelings ignore No, not saying that
you know you don't want to bury down stuff and
all that. I'm talking about feelings like your fleshly temptations
and desires for like, Okay, I'm going to go out
and binge e's or I'm going to get off the

(22:19):
rails with my health. I'm not going to take care
of myself. You have to make the next best step.
If you don't need the full road map right away,
you just need you just have to take the next step.
I can't repeat that enough. Now, this is the quote
Martin Luther King Junior. You do not have to see
the whole staircase. Just take the first step. Here's one

(22:41):
from Dale Carnegie. Action breeds confidence and courage. So it's
the action that does it. People want to feel confident
and courage courageous and then do it. Doesn't work like that.
Life doesn't work like that. The human body, the human
nervous system, does not work like that. You have to
take the step first. Then you're gonna feel more confident.

(23:02):
Then you're gonna feel more courageous. Okay, So the mistake
people make, like I've been saying, is that they need
to overhaul their whole health. They need to change it
all all at once. You know what, I got to
this point. I stepped on the scale today where I
went to the doctor, got this blood work. I need
to change everything. And that's the first mistake, because you're
gonna overwhelm your nervous system, and your nervous system is

(23:25):
gonna fight against that like you think. So listen to this.
It's like you think you're gonna overhaul your whole health
in one day when you can't even get out of
bed on time, when you're hitting the snooze button when
you can't even win that battle. Okay, so you got
to start winning the individual battles first. So the first
battle to win that, I'll challenge you on. I'm been

(23:47):
good at this. I'm gonna throw my wife under the
bus a little bit. She could throw me. Imagine she
came on here, she'd have a whole ammunition the snooze button.
I shouldn't say she's let's just say this. She's more
likely to hit the snooze button than I am. But
she's good at Like, once she gets up, she's moving

(24:09):
because like, I'll not hit the snooze button, but man,
I'm moving like a sloth when I first get out
of the morning, I'm like, oh my gosh. But when
she goes, she's up, she's moving, So I'll give her
that credit. So maybe the first step for some of
you is don't hit the snooze button. Maybe the first
step is drink a little more water today. Maybe it's
go for a ten minute walk. Maybe it's time to

(24:32):
actually book that appointment to go see that health doctor, practitioner, chiropractor,
weight loss advocate. Maybe it's time to do that. Maybe
it's time to go to bed earlier. So again, you
don't want to overthink this stuff. You just got to
hit the first domino. How do you do that? Now,
I've mentioned this, if not one time, one hundred times,

(24:54):
if not a million times, you want to just you
want to hit that first domino. And the way to
do that at is by finding your one thing. So
what is your one thing? Everyone has it? What do
I mean by that it's your first domino? Do you
ask yourself this question? If I could only do one
thing such that everything else would be easier or unnecessary,

(25:18):
what would it be? So let's use weight loss as
an example. You ask this question, if I could only
choose one thing, one single thing in the whole world
to do, you're not allowed to do anything else. If
I can only do one thing to start losing weight,
what would it be? That answer should come up pretty quickly. Okay,
it shouldn't be that hard. You'd be like, well, for me, personally,

(25:41):
I would eat adequate portion sizes. I would not overeat,
especially at dinner, So then I could I could back
it down. I would just say I will eat a
normal portion size at dinner and that's it. Now I'm
just for the day. That's my step. I'm going to
get to dinner and I'm even normal portion size that

(26:02):
I'm not going to overeat at dinner. Boom. Then you
start to get momentum that goes that starts to go
over to breakfast, that starts to go over to lunch.
You start changing other things. It's the first domino you
push it over, because you could look at the whole
domino line You're like, how the heck is this going
to work. It's like, you got to get yourself to
the end of the line and push that first one over.
So you got to ask yourself that question. So I

(26:23):
want to go through these like five practical steps here
that might help you, like know where you should start.
So number one, drinking water first, so before coffee, before
tea or juice before anything else. Drink a full glass
of water when you wake up in the morning. Just
trust me, you are going to wake up. Even this

(26:45):
morning I mentioned earlier, I have a busy day. I'm
you know, I'm doing my radio show. I'm gonna go
do a field trip with my one son. I'm going
to go to the office for a few hours and
see patients and then going to come home and go
straight to coaching my son's hockey game hockey team, and
then coming home, so I don't know, like what am
my wife's like, what are you gonna do for dinner

(27:05):
this now? I don't know. I'm gonna figure it out
when I get there. Not sure we'll do it, okay,
But the first thing's first. When I got up today,
I was like kind of in that go mode. I
wanted to get to gym, get a quick workout, get
my energy going. I drank like maybe a half glass
of water that was already on my nightstand, but then
I didn't drink the full gut. I got down there
and I was just I was thirsty. I was like,

(27:26):
oh I I drink my water. I gotta take my
own advice. So made sure I filled up my tumbler.
Even though life him be busy and you want to
push through in this and that all I don't have.
I could easily say, you know what, I don't have
time to go fill this up. I'm just gonna work
out real quickly, get it done. No follow the list, okay,
fall a step before anything else for coffee, work out, whatever.

(27:48):
Drink that big full glass of water, I would say,
if you're over one hundred and eighty pounds or maybe
even one hundred and seventy five pounds, drink two full
glasses of water and that's gonna really hydration jump starts
your metabolism, your brain and your energy. The number one
cause of daytime fatigue, that two o'clock feeling, that three

(28:09):
o'clock feeling that people have where they want to grab
the coffee or the energy drink or the energy bar.
It's dehydration. So you want to make sure that you're
hydrating self right off the bat. Number two, here's something
you could do today. Take a ten minute walk. So
go outside, walk for ten minutes, and if possible, do

(28:31):
not bring your phone. Like I get it. Oh, I
got to know, Well, how am I going to know
it's ten minutes about on my phone? I don't know.
Bring a watch, look at a sundial, do something, don't
bring your phone, and I trust me, I'm guilty of this,
you know. Oh, I'll listen to this music, I'll listen
to this podcast. But how many times does that turn
in another stuff? All of a sudden you're answering text messages,

(28:53):
phone calls, or I'm going to look at this and
get this done. No, no, no, that's going to distract from
what you want to do. It's not just about the
X size. It's just about moving your body, getting your
body moving, getting your heart rate up, getting your legs moving,
getting the rust off the hinges, so to speak. Your
hip joints, your knee joints, your ankle joints, getting them moving.

(29:13):
Because here's the thing. Your joints are self lubricating systems.
You have a fluid inside your joint, think of like
WD forty or grease. So you can't like, you know,
like those old lawnmowers, you'd have the grease gun and
you'd put the you insert the grease into the little
nozzle and whatnot. You don't have a grease gun. You're

(29:34):
not the tin Man from the Wizard of Oz. You
have a self lubricating system, but the way that it
activates is through proper movement. So if you don't move,
those joints don't get lubricated, they get stiff, they get
sore so many times. And this is where chiropractic comes in,
and I will get in that this next part is

(29:57):
essentially what chiropractic is doing is moving the joints of
your spine moving those individual joints. That allows for the
free movement again, and then the synovial fluid gets working,
and then that person can have more range of motion
in their lower back or their neck, or their mid back,
or their wrists or the ankles, whatever part of the
of the body was adjusted, and that regains that motion

(30:20):
so they feel better. Well, what else does that exercise?
That's why we feel like runners. You hear about the
Runners high, like people feel literally high because it shoots
endorphins all through your brain. People go out there and
they're It breaks my heart because people are doing all
these different energy drinks and caffeine and and god forbid,

(30:41):
illicit drugs, recreational drugs, illegal drugs to try to get high.
They want to feel and people want a different state.
They go out and drink alcohol to get drunk. They
smoke dope and get high, they shoot up. They do
all this stuff. Why because they don't like how they're feeling.
They don't and it's that's sad, that's all it is.
That all comes down to drug use and this and that.

(31:03):
I don't like how I'm feeling right now, so I
want to feel different, do you know that there's other
ways to do that other than drugs and alcohol and
all the other crap that's out there that's totally addictive
and literally ruins people's lives. Like what if that person
go exercise, move their body, eat good food that's going

(31:23):
to give you like a high. A quick story. I
was in chiropractic school, and this is back like twenty ten,
twenty eleven, when health documentaries were the big thing. She'd
tell someone to go watch a health documentary. People would
do it. Now, I can hardly get people to listen
to a five minute radio clip or something like that.

(31:45):
But there was this health documentary. If you'd like to
check it out, you can. It's called Fat, Sick and
Nearly Dead about this guy from Australia who comes over
to America and he's like over three hundred pounds and
he does a sixty day juice fat So he just
does juicing. So I saw this. It was amazing. Lost
all this weight felt amazing. So I decided I would

(32:06):
do juicing just for like a day. I did it
for two days. I once did it for three days straight.
And I'm telling you the amount of nutrients that you get.
The good sugars that you get from the fruit and
the vegetables, Like I would do carrots, carrots, spinach, I
would do cucumber, apples, Granny Smith and I would drink
that and I felt literally high from the energy and

(32:30):
the B vitamins that that was giving me. Stay tuned,
I'll tell you more about this story. All right, guys,
welcome back to the show. We're going to close out
the week here. Talk about doing the next best thing
with your health and not going back, because what I
was saying at the start of the show is that
you can't go back. You are where you're at. Like
your car as a number on the odometer, like you've

(32:52):
put a certain number of miles on your car. You
cannot change that. You can't. Okay, sit there and be like, man,
my car was better when it was brand new, or
when it only had ten thousand miles on it or
fifteen thousand miles on it. That's great, that's fine, Okay,
but you got to deal with what you have. Because

(33:13):
there's people out there. They take care of their their cars.
You hear this, like it's running They're running great at
two hundred thousand miles, three hundred thousand miles. You hear
those stories. Okay, but that took maintenance, that took upkeep,
that took attention, that took energy. And yes, in some
cases that takes money. But what's what's less expensive owning
your car and paying for maintenance or buying new cars

(33:35):
or constantly getting a new lease or car payment and
things like that. Like, what's what's more expensive a car
payment or fixing your car maintaining maintaining it I should say,
not fixing it, obviously, maintaining it. Now with your body,
the cost is even more drastic. It's even more drastic
because you get diagnosed with you know, BA forbid heart

(33:57):
disease or cancer or type two diabetes, and you start
looking at those numbers, not just what you pay into
your insurance premiums and all that, but the amount of
money that you'll have to pay for all these extra
doctor visits and everything else. It adds up very quickly.
They say that the average person in retirement needs four
hundred thousand dollars just for healthcare expenses over the course
of their retirement. What if they had that amount of

(34:19):
money or a lot less. My goodness, my goodness, someone
pay me four hundred thousand dollars. I'll give them a
golden spine. I mean, jeez. I mean, it's just if
you take that money and far less of it, I'd
say ten percent of it or less over the course
of your whole life and take care of yourself and
eating organic food and great fed beef and getting yourself

(34:42):
adjusted and doing those healthy things. Just think of the
dividends that are going to come later on. And you
see it with people. You see it all the time.
I mean, it's like sixty eight percent of Americans are
either obese or overweight. You can see it. It's very
obvious when you look around that people are not well.
You can see the other end of a health revolution,

(35:02):
I would say, where people on one end are very
sick and we've kind of lost the middle ground with healthcare.
What I mean by that is usually see two polar opposites.
You see people walking around that are just totally jacked,
going to the gym, eating healthy, the juice is doing
all that stuff. Or the other end, they're completely obese.

(35:24):
Where's the middle ground here? Where's the middle class so
to speak? In healthcare? That's what we got to get
back to just to finish up the story I was
sharing earlier. I talked about how when I started doing juicing,
So what does juicing mean? You buy a juicer. It's
not a blender. People ask me that. Oh my goodness.
People say that all the time. Can I just use

(35:44):
a blender? No you can't. Okay, no, Now I say
it much more nicely to people at the office. But
there is a difference between a blender and a juicer.
The point of a juicer is to extract the juices
of the fruit and the vegetable that you're juicing. So
you're just getting the juice out, the vitamins, the minerals.

(36:04):
That just the juice, okay, the good stuff. Now a
blender is going to blend up all of the pulp
and the fiber and the casing and the hard stuff
as well. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing,
but it's just not what you're going for with juicing.
What you're going for with juicing is just getting the juice.
You're just getting those micronutrients, those vitamins, and the juice

(36:26):
part of it. You're not going for the other part,
the fiber and whatnot. And then people would say it's
just funny. People are like, oh, but then if you
just juice, you're not getting the fiber. I'm like, are
you serious? This is same person who goes to McDonald's,
same person who eats Burger King all the time, same
person who eats fast food. You know, no offense, same

(36:48):
person who's got a big tank beer gut talking to me,
and then you're going to talk to me about fiber. Now,
I don't know, Sorry for being rude, but come on, guys,
it's like you can do juicing and try and not
worry about using a blender. Okay, that's my rank for
the day. Sorry if I offended anyone, but it just
strives me crazy. It's like, those are the little things

(37:09):
that get in people's way. It's that the ego, right,
the ego starts talking. I saw this quote the other day.
This is the best quote ever. I didn't know how
I was going to share it, but now I do.
Wisdom is knowing when to keep your mouth shut when
the ego wants to speak. Wisdom is knowing when to

(37:31):
keep your mouth shut when the ego wants to speak.
When we have these instant reactions and I hear them
all the time, you know, like, do you ever, like
share someone something really positive for yourself to someone else
and they just kind of smack it down and it
doesn't feel good. And maybe they didn't even mean to
say it, they just said it. Like, for example, you

(37:54):
tell someone you know what, I'm going to weight loss program.
I've lost twenty pounds, and what do people say? Immediately?
It's like it just comes out, you don't need to
lose weight. They just say that, you don't need to
lose weight. Why would you need to do that? You
shouldn't do that. Or hey, I started going to the chiropractor,
I'm feeling great. Oh you don't want to go to
the chiropractor. Or I just started going back to school.

(38:15):
Why would you spend money on that? Why would you
go to school? You got a job. We've all had
that in our life. Maybe it's from a parent, maybe
it's from a friend, maybe it's from that. And it hurts, right,
it hurts. That's their ego speaking. It's the ego because
for something to happen that quickly, not fast, that's their
ego talking. They're not talking about you, they're talking about themselves.

(38:35):
The ego is very selfish, it's self serving, and it
wants to protect the human brain. Now, in some instances
it's a good thing. It's self protection and things like that.
It's kind of good in children in a way to
protect them if there's like abuse or neglect or things
like that. But as adults we have to move past
that and the ego buying large not good thing. It's

(38:57):
part of you, but we don't want to be ruled
by So when people are saying that, when they're doing that,
that's called projection. Like when you say to someone, oh,
I've started losing weight, they say, you don't need to
lose weight. What are they really saying? No, No, I
don't want you to change, because then I might have
to think that I need to change. That's the ego. Okay,

(39:19):
So when someone tells you this the way to be
a really good friend, and for me and I say
this to other chiropractice, the way to be a really
good chiropractor, really good doctor, to have good bedside manner
is to affirm acknowledge the person that's talking to you.
Affirm and acknowledge them so that they feel understood. Okay,

(39:40):
like saying things like I understand or good for you,
or I agree or that must have been hord or
I can understand why you're doing that those words, at
least for someone like me. I'm like a big words
of affirmation people person. Those words can be life giving
to people rather than life taking. And when when you

(40:00):
speak like that to others, you become a light in
this world. Trust me, Trust me, I see it all
the time. I talk with people all the time, all
day long, and I know what people, what type of
people I can share things with, and what type I can't.
I know that in an instant. I don't know if
it's part of a superpower I have or just like

(40:21):
a muscle that I built because I talk with so
many people, But I can tell in an instant, Like,
for example, if you say to someone, hey, I'm going
on vacation, I know already the type of person that's
going to say, hey, good for you, or that's great,
or hey I'm I'm going to start losing weight. Wow,
good for you, versus the type of people who would say, oh,
isn't that expensive, isn't that too much money? You shouldn't

(40:43):
be doing that. You don't want to be around those
types of people. Trust me, you don't, because when you
start changing your health and Unfortunately, some of you live
with these people. This might be your spouse. Unfortunately. I
hear this a lot. Women tell me this a lot
where they say, well, my husband he poop pooh me
going to the chiropractor and he says this about that.

(41:03):
And I'm just gonna say to men right now, and
I can say this because I'm a man, shut up,
shut your mouth, don't let your egos speak. Be wise.
If your wife is telling you that she wants to change,
she wants to change your health, if you're not going
to affirm her, if you're not going to agree with
your if you're not going to encourage, then just keep
your mouth shut because all you're gonna do is tear

(41:26):
her down and break her down and pull her away
from the purpose. Now, this can go both ways, right,
This can go both ways. This can go for men
and women. But by and large, what I see in
my clinical experience, and I'm around a lot of people
of over a thousand active patients, is that I hear
a ton of women who will say, I have to

(41:47):
make two meals. I have to make a healthy meal
for myself and then an unhealthy meal for my husband.
Do you know what I say? Like is he a child?
Like you have to make and nuggets and French fries
for your little five year old and then you get
to have steak and vegetables, Like, come on, do you
have to have the kids kneel out at the restaurant too.

(42:10):
I don't know where I'm going with this, but I
just really want to speak to someone that might be
listening right now. Maybe you've been discouraged, shot down, pushed down.
When you're going to change, don't let that affect you.
Keep moving forward, keep being You be the change you
want to see in the world. You know, when I
was first starting out my practice, I remember I had

(42:36):
a grandmother who you know, loved my grandmother all that stuff,
but she was more one. You know, you got to
play it safe, You got to play it safe. And
when I was first starting my practice, I remember the
comment came down. It didn't come directly from her, but
it came through the grapevine that she basically said, why
does Greg need to open his own business? Can he
just work for someone for a few years. Why does

(42:59):
he have to open his own business. That's not a
good idea, all this kind of stuff, and that came
down to me and at the time it was hurtful,
like it was hard to hear that because like I'm here,
I'm trying to fulfill my dream, do all this stuff,
and the people close to you are not giving you
that support. Now, from her end, as I get older
and I get wiser, I realize, Okay, she just loves me.
She wants to protect me, she wants to make sure

(43:19):
things are okay. What I'm trying to get out of it,
get out of this story, is this to you, is
that when people share that they're doing things, you want
to be encouraging and life giving to that person. Otherwise
they're not going to share it with you, and you're
not going to be the person that they go towards
to that. Okay, long story short, let's get back to
what we're talking about today, next best steps, doing the

(43:41):
next best thing. The last thing I'm going to say
is this, if you've been putting it off, taking the
time to schedule that appointment. Now I can be a
little selfish here and I can tell people to schedule
appointment with me at my office. I can help you.
I'm a chi proctor. I can help you do that.
If you it might be a weight loss consultant. It
might even be a medical doctor, physical theory. But whomever
it is, whatever you've been pushing off, guys, I urge

(44:03):
you to schedule that appointment to get helps to move
the next best level with your health. Starting off, have
a great week,
