Hey Dave, how are you.

Good morning. We're ready to come back to Harrisburg.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
It's one of your favorite places. I've been told that
you always do well here and that's why you keep
coming back.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
It's always a spectacular event, ever since twenty fourteen when
we held our first event in Harrisbergen. At that time
it was the largest first year event in the history
of Meekam Auctions. And I think more importantly than the
cars and the sales dollars was the crowd that we saw.
It was a very enthusiastic crowd. I think it's one

of the few places we go where we see people
lining up outside the door about an hour before the
door's opened, just to get the best seats in the house.
So it's great to see a large group of very
enthusiastic car people and have an opportunity to spend four
days to visit with them.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Give us the lay of the land for the four
days that are coming up.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Well, actually we had it in the past where the
Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex just a great place for us
to set up and display what this year will be
twelve hundred cars.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
The auction starts on Wednesday. It's a four day event
runs through Saturday evening. We open the doors every morning
at eight am. We do road art, which is road memorabilia,
road signs, et cetera, from nine to ten, and then
we start the cars at ten o'clock. Each day, we
run about three hundred cars a day. One crosses the
bunk about every two minutes NonStop until we finish the

cars for the end of the day, usually around five
thirty six o'clock.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Well, I tell you, Dave, what really amazed me is
first day is that you're putting all the cars across
the line. Are great cars. When I say cars, cars, trucks, vans,
what have you bought? I noticed that on the first
day you have some expensive vehicles there, but a lot

of them are are are vehicles that if somebody really
wanted to get into something at a decent price, quite
a few of them are under twenty thousand dollars.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Yeah, and there you know, as the auction progresses trying
on Wednesday Saturday, typically with some exceptions, the cars do
get more valuable.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
As the auction goes along, of course, the most valuable
because we're on Saturday, but you're correct. We have we
have cars we like to build ourselves as a collector
car auction for everybody. We have cars that hid ten
thousand dollars and of course we've sold cars that are
twenty million dollars and more. I think our highest priced
car was thirty eight and a half million this past

CODMI in January.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Now, there are a couple of different ways that you
can come in other words, you can come as a
bidder and you but you can also come as a spectator.
Kind of can you kind of explain the difference in
admission prices and what you go through.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah, and that's what the big fallacies of Mekam auctions,
or I think probably any collector car auction is you
don't have to be a buyer or a seller to
come and enjoy the car auction. As a matter of fact,
somewhere around ninety percent of the people that will come
through the doors at Harrisburg at any of our actions
are coming just to see the spectacle that is meek
them and see, you know what is a great car

show with twelve hundred cars on display. So you can
you can buy a ticket for just a day to
come to the auction for three dollars, or you can
buy an event that delis you to come all four
days to the auction for seventy five dollars. And if
you do that today or tomorrow before the auction starts
on Wednesday, it's twenty five percent off as well. If

you know, I go with my brother in law, Jim,
and last year we went on day one Wednesday, and
I sat there amazed at some of the prices. I mean, yes,

(04:46):
on the other upper end, but lower end. Yeah. And
in fact, I thought, if you there there, some of
them are barely collector cars. Now what I mean is
they it's something that Peter would love, you know, four
by four truck. Okay, they are they they may not

(05:06):
be collector collector cars, but there's something special about them.
I saw a lot of Jeeps and things like that,
and again the prices were I thought, pretty incredible given
that you were at a collector car auction.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
I love how fast it goes. Yeah, that's what because
I've watched it on television. Obviously it's in Harrisburg. So
I'm like, oh, let me watch the auction.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
And you sit there and you're watching, You're like, whoa,
that's just that's gone gone.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Yeah. Yeah. Well, one year I was a gaveler. They
let me get up there and gavel the auction shut.
And another last year I was a driver. They put
me and my brother in law Gym in one of
the vehicles. You got to drive it in, got to
drive it in. Well, they actually push you, so I
got to steer it in and yeah, that was pretty cool.

(05:59):
So jd Vance and wife Usha the first he's the
first vice president in a hundred, one hundred and fifty
years to have a child while in office.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Yeah, so congratulations four.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Right therefore, and I know the first name is Alec.
The middle name is escaping me right now. But yeah,
four kids and the first in one hundred and fifty
years to have a baby. I was trying to think
of the last president. It had to be Kennedy, right,
she gave she gave birth. I thought she did. Uh,

maybe not no, because when when he was shot John
John was he was toddler. Yeah, so I forget, uh,
but it doesn't happen very often. And why well, look
at our current president eighty years old. You know most
of them are have been older men, so they're finished siring,

so I think.

And I'm looking apparently, yeah, Groover Cleveland.

Grover, good old Grover.

In the White House, and that.

I didn't know you were still there, Bill, or I
would have acknowledged it. Usually run away and then when
I have somebody, No, I wanted to hear you referring
to president siring yes, siring, siring, and I think Malanie
is not going to have any more babies, so I
don't think our president will sire any babies. Although Tony

Randall I was thinking of. Tony proved that you can.
We can. We can sire late in life. We can
sire if we haven't been severed. There's a lot of
things that you get that. Yes, there's a lot of
things you can do. Yeah, versus should you do that? No,
that's right, that's right. I agree with you. Sire, sired
before you were severed. I kind of like that phrase.
