Speaker 1 (00:01):
Good morning, Richard John. How are you to fine morning.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
I'm doing well, Senator. I appreciate you coming on the
air with us. You know I'm always an honor Well
you know it should be more often, and that's my fault.
But you your ears should burn because we talk about you.
In fact, I was just with our good friend Greg
Rothman having coffee on Thursday and a lot of the
(00:25):
conversation was about you and naturally all wonderful, So I
thank you. Yes, sir, I asked you to come on
today to talk about Iran because you're at the top
of the list with folks who know about Iran, and
I want to know your thoughts and overview of what
we've done, where we are, and how this thing will
(00:48):
come to an end.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Well, I think what the President has realized is something
that I think he knew but was getting a lot
of pressure to try a different path. Which is what
the President has realized is that you can't negotiate with
people who don't want to negotiate and that believe that
(01:11):
that they can outlast you in any war. That the
only way they know the only way they can win
this war is to get the American public and the
allies of America to put pressure on the President to
stop prosecuting the war. That's the only way they win.
I mean, as you can see, there's no resistance from
(01:32):
the standpoint of our ability to be able to prosecute
the war in Iran from the airs, they have no
ability to stop America from doing whatever they want to do.
So the way they stop America is to get the
American public to put pressure on the president. They use
you know, they use these sparad attacks against American allies
(01:56):
in the region. They use all sorts of UH. I
would just say, just efforts to persuade Americans through false information, UH,
you know, online online information that's misinformation to get Americans
all whipped up about UH about opposing this war. So
(02:20):
it's a it is a it is a psychological ops
war that that Iran is waging, not a real war
to try to defeat America. They can't. And so it's
important for the President to understand that trying to negotiate
an agreement UH that he did at the time was
was never going to be successful and and that Iran
(02:40):
was never going to stop UH blocking the straight toward moves.
They never were going to stop threatening threatened the allies
in the region, whether it's Saudi Arabia or Youth, or
the uae or or or Israel, so it the president
has to follow through. He he made the decision correctly
that Iran was on the prestists of getting a nuclear weapon,
(03:01):
and unlike any other country in the world, they would
use it to try to accomplish that the aims that
the regime has always been focused on, which is not
a geopolitical aim. We've talked about this on the show
many times. It is a theological aim. They believe that
that they have to accomplish an armageddon type event for
(03:22):
their religious end of time's theology to come about, and
the way they think they can do that is through
a nuclear holocaust. And that's that's just the reality that
most Americans don't know about. I know, we've talked about
it on this show. The President doesn't talk about it.
And the reason he doesn't is because he I'm being told,
(03:43):
I'm sure by all of his Muslim friends in this
the you know, the Saudi Arabias and the Uaes and
the Bahrains and the Cutters, that if you talk about
religious aims of Iran, you're going to get the Muslim
world all startups. He can't do that, and so he
he's sort of handcuffed in how he communicates to the
American public about why he's doing what he's doing. But
(04:04):
he's doing the right thing.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
We're on the phone with former Senator Rick Santorum and
presidential candidate who won a slew of state. Do you
have time to hang with us through the break?
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Okay, okay, because I want to get your take on
how this all ends. Then, uh, we're with Rick Santorum.
It is seven fourteen, seven nineteen on the phone with
Senator Rick Santorum. So, Senator Santorum, we left off with
the fact that most Americans don't know this is about
(04:42):
religion for the regime. With that in mind, where do
we go from here?
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Yeah, I mean the answer is the president has tried
to accomplish this without having a having a policy to
a pumplish it. But yeah, you have to get rid
of the regimes. I mean, the people. You can kill
the leadership, but a theocracy. So I mean, I know
a lot of people on the left say, oh, you
(05:12):
know Rick Santoram and others who are Catholics and Christians
they're they're theocrats. They want to oppose their rule. They
have no idea what the theocracy is about. We have
certain moral precepts you'd like to see in the law.
These folks are our religion that has a playbook that
(05:33):
how to run a country. That's why they have all
these theocratic laws and how this is a theocratic state
and it's a revolutionary republic. The revolution is to bring
about the end of times. And they are as fundamental
because they believe that will please Allah. If they have
(05:54):
fundamentalist precepts and keep to a strict adherence to Sharia law,
that that will bless them and give them the ability
to prosecute this goal for Shia Islam. And so if
you don't get rid of them, this problem stays. And
you say, well, you can't change the regime by air, well,
(06:16):
the answer is we've never had the air dominance and
the ability to do things via the air that we
have today. And so I think the president is going
to continue to prosecute the war. I don't think he's
going to ever have to put boots on the ground.
But you know this, and if he keeps up the
economic sanctions, the blockades, the other things that he's doing
(06:36):
to strangle the regime, and he's able to continue to
degrade their military and degrade their ability to oppress their
own people. I think there's an opportunity, not in the
I don't know how long. I mean people say about
endless wars. I think you're talking months, not weeks. But
I think there's a very good opportunity for this regime
(06:58):
to class.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
So are the people of Iran still of the same mind,
meaning that they'd love change, but they can't do anything
about it themselves.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
According to the you know, I don't know how reliable
polls are around, but the last poll that was taken
there is that nine percent of the people in the
country support the regime. So it's it's a matter of
and again those who are defenders of the Second Amendment
will appreciate this. They can't overthrow the regime because they
don't have any guns. It's a it's a and you know,
(07:30):
one of the reasons we have a Second Amendment is
so that people can hold their government accountable. And I
know that's all it's. You know, well, we need sportsmen
and we need self defense. The fundamental reason for the
Second Amendment is so we don't have a situation like
you do in Iran, which the government has all the
guns and that people have no power, and so there's
a there is an opportunity and I know that's happening
(07:53):
to try to arm and train you know, people in
and around Iran to help through the government. And that's
another aspect that, of course we'll never know about. We
should know about that our intelligence community is trying to accomplish.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
This four dollars a gallon gas thing is part of
the head trip that is coming as a result of
what they're doing.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Right, Yes, yeah, and I understand. Look, it's painful, and
I know people don't like it, and I get it.
But if you think about what the cost is, Yes,
we've lost I think fifteen soldiers throughout the course of
this conflict, and that's a terrible thing. But the reality
is the cost to Americans, other than higher gas prices
(08:36):
and the unfortunate loss of a couple of handfuls of troops,
is compared to other wars, very small. Number one and
number two, the threat is as big a threat as
we've ever faced, and so I think people have to
put it in perspective. I know they say, well, you
(08:59):
know this painful, and we don't see any benefit. The
benefit is you don't have a nuclear ron that is
going to attempt to destroy the world. And and you say,
well that's unlikely. No, it's not unlikely. This They they,
as you can see, are resolved. Number two. Number two,
they have resources, they have oil, they have lots of resources.
(09:19):
And number three, they have they have they have a
will to do this and and they are approaching competency
to do it. And all of those things are are
should be signs that the Americans should should should see
that this is a absolutely vital thing for the for
for this president to be doing.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Rick Samtorum, thank you. I hope Karen and the family
are all well. And uh we're doing great.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
We're we're up. We're up to thirteen grandchildren.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
Oh my gosh. Well the morning show bells for you.
There's nothing better than being a granddad. I know that.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
So yeah, well we have thirteen grandchildren, just had one
a couple of days ago, and the oldest grandchild is four.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Wow. Wow, that's a lot of kids. Well, but you
had a lot of you have a lot of children.
So I watched them grow to us. Yeah, I watched
them grow up for a while there. That was fun,
all right.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
Everybody's doing great. Thank you.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Hey listen, I'll give you a holler and we'll talk
again soon. Thank you for that. I think it was
great for everybody listening.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
All right. Thank you, God blessed.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Take care of God, bless you. Rick Santorum seven twenty
