Speaker 1 (00:00):
Frustrating.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
It's a little frustrating, frustrating, real frustrating, frustrating.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Obviously it's uh, you know, it's frustrating. It's obviously frustrating.
And it's not it's not fun. It's a little frustrating.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Many of us are frustrating.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Do you know it's not good baseball. That's what I'm done.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
This is you're in the immortal words of Ferris Bueler.
Life moves pretty fast Leader fan Fan Radio Network.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
And that's a fact.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
And k f a N that's k f a N
dot com. Two minutes and forty four seconds past three
Central daylight time, Welcome back Thursday edition of the Afternoon
Ardvark Guards.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
He produces the show.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
My name is Dan Barrero, former Inkstain Retch newspaper of
the Twin Cities, who, according to a calumnist named Charlie Walters,
I worked the first three or four years of the
Chad Burrero Show for Panicook and Hoo's Gift certificates. I

(01:32):
guess there's a moral there because he's the same guy who,
how many years later now has the Vikings on the verge,
the Wilfs on the verge of selling the Minnesota Vikings.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
What's the commonality there? Fiction or fact?

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Probably more likely fiction. We are delighted here along for
today's Ryan. We have a lot of good stuff planned
the rest of the afternoon. Doctor Dan's Inbox has been
added to the roster today and that will be five thirty,
So you have plenty of time still to challenge your
creativity to crafts and to craft a letter that then

(02:05):
guards he can deem worthy of the program at five thirty.
So JG atcafe dot com if you would like to
get in on Doctor Dan's Inbox. Kevin Seffert kind of
bonus Seaffer today at four thirty, because now you know
we had Alec Lewis yesterday about the general manager search.
Today we got names thanks to who else? ESPN guy

(02:29):
is it Adam? I think Schefter had it first. There
were I want to say, at least four, maybe five
names candidates that allegedly the Vikings are looking at or
pursuing or at least making it a you know, as
part of the process here early so we'll get what
we should if there's a commonality to those particular general

(02:54):
manager prospects. Anything we can take out of those particular names,
is that or might there be more seaf for at
four to thirty. Craig Kilbourn back with us at three thirty,
filing a live report from the Bumper Bumper West Coast Bureau.
See how he digested and processed the wolves being edged

(03:17):
by the Golden Golden State. I didn't have Golden State
on my mind.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Bye.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
The San Antonio Spurs Davy was thirty seven. The final
score a final deficit. I can't remember, not good with math,
but it was thirty plus. We know that that came
up last night via Johnny Athletics math. Did you see that? No,
this is a good nugget. Let's get to this right now.
Thirty eight points, by the way, thirty eight and it
was the lead was over forty at a couple points. Yeah,

(03:43):
I think.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
So.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
Let's see if I can find the text the tweet
I'm looking for here.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Oh you know what? You know, you know where I
can find it. I can find it via my own
were This is this is a.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
This is a tweet Johnny Athletics sent out from San
Antonio Davey last night. See if you can follow along here? Okay,
thirty two free throws and counting twenty five for San
Antonio seventeen for Minnesota. Oh, not sure I'm gonna be
able to make my sixth three day and flight, to

(04:24):
which tweeter Paul writes that seems an awful light lot
like Barrero and GUARDSI Matt, the truth can be controversial
because twenty seven and fourteen is forty two and he
had thirty two. Unless there's a piece of this I'm missing.
So the tweet again was thirty two free throws in
counting twenty five for the Spurs.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Seventeen for us. It makes me feel better. Boy, that
someone else maybe he did.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Maybe he did that purposefully to just let us off
the hook. Could have or he was in a hurry.
You know, he's got a lot of stuff on his mind. Line,
going this stuff live is not as easy as it's not. No,
it definitely is not. That's very, very true, Davy. But
everybody wins initials in their car. That's what everybody always says, Yeah,
in my car initials. Back in the day, Jeopardy Man,

(05:09):
for example, I had made the Tournament of Champions.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Easy, could have been Ken Jennings. That's true, if you
could only have gotten there.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
It's always easier when you're in your car and your
office listening on the iHeartRadio app. Once you get here
with the bright lights, sometimes bad things happen to your brain.
There's no question. I don't love it, but that's the reality.
Absolutely no question about that. But anyway, that's so, that's
the plan. From a guest standpoint. The uglydeck dot Com
guest lineup very good again today.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Ferris Bueller said it. Life moves pretty fast.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
I mean, the rest of the quote, if you'll remember,
was if you don't stop and look around once in
a while, you could miss it. So that was supposed
to be the deep philosophy embedded in what Ferris Bueller's
day off represented. If you don't stop and look aroun
on once in a while, you could miss it. Appreciate

(06:03):
the moment, appreciate the present, break free from daily routines.
That's the sort of thing that is supposedly related to
all this. In fact, that's exactly the way AI Guy
put it, or a gal I don't know what AI is,
AI Guy or Galler doesn't matter. I think you can choose.
You can choose whatever you want. I think I've ever

(06:24):
done it that way, but I think you can choose.
That's exactly correct. So I bring it up today because
it was as recently as yesterday's program. I issued the
Bumper Bumper Seal of approval to Chris Finch, the Minnesota
Syirwell's head coach, for his commentary his attempt to sort

(06:47):
of plant a seed in the minds of whatever officiating
cruise are coming in this series about the alleged series
of not uncalled goaltending plays against Wemby in a game
in which he was credited with twelve block shots. I

(07:10):
thought it was almost I don't want to say it's
filled Jacksonian, but it felt close to Jacksonian in the
strategic touch.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
I thought it was smart.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
Thought it felt even better given it came after a victory,
which should make it even easier or more difficult to dismiss.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
And I think we all agreed.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
We said, hey, yeah, well, we're going to be very
interested to see what impact all of that has all
that byplay on game two. Well, life does move pretty fast,
because now it feels like that game Game one was
like a million years ago, and one thing didn't seem
to have anything to do with the other. I don't

(07:51):
know a single person who at any point spent much
time being preoccupied about the block shots by Wemby.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
He only had I.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Think three in this case, and whether any of them
were goaltending or not. It almost felt like that subject
was really cool. As of yesterday today, it means absolutely nothing.
It was a pounding It was, as the head coach said,
a punkin. Wolves were never really competitive in it. I

(08:22):
wanted to go early with the you know, the cliche is, well,
they're gonna they're gonna come out swinging, and really all
the wolves have to do is absorb that first punch.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Sure, and for about four or five.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
Minutes it was still a relatively competitive game, maybe a
little longer than that. And then once it got away,
it got away completely and utterly, and it did turn
into an animal like massacre. Although I would think Crockett, Bowie,
Colonel Travis would say we held up a little longer
than the wolves did their corner number two. It's exactly it.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
Let me give you the list of the things that
the Timberwolves did not do last night. See if you
agree with any of them or would like to add
to the list. The Timberwolves, more than anything else, did
not further the San Antonio Spurs Davy self doubt. They
gave them hope. It was not going to be illegal

(09:20):
to lose to the Spurs in Game two.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
It was likely.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
I think the Wolves are going to lose to the
Spurs in Game two, but it's not helpful. I don't
think ever to lose like that, where if there's a
little bit of doubt after Game one, you don't fully
pounce on it in a way that maybe the slight

(09:44):
self doubt becomes, oh man, we got a problem here.
The Spurs had to come out of that game feeling
completely refreshed and confident once again that they've got their
mojo back, and yeah, there's no reason that we can't
play with these guys, even if they've been to the

(10:04):
conference finals two straight years, and even if Kendrick Perkins
after a Game one said I no longer believe in
the Spurs to win the NBA title or even this series.
I now believe in the Minnesota Timberwolves. Losing the way
the Wolves did was about more to me than a
single loss from a Spurs standpoint, that it's more now

(10:26):
like their confidence is buoyed. They won in a way
that went well beyond just to me, what what their
feeling have been in a close game. Let's say it
goes down to the wire and the Wolves lose by five,
I think you can.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Say, huh, we are still a little bit worried.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
We split the two games in San Antonio, Davy, we're
going out of Minnesota, and they gave us everything we
can handle in both games, even though in the end
we won game two. I'm not saying that makes the
series impossible to win. I do think when you put
inject a little bit of hope back into a team that,
despite its sixty two regular season wins, despite its talent,

(11:08):
has not been through the wars, I think that's a
an opportunity lost by your Wolves club.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
What else did we not do?

Speaker 4 (11:18):
We did not get back on defense, maddeningly so at
times again fast break points. We had five, they had
twenty nine, and often it was, as I said, we're.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
I mean, we're just basically.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
What's the opposite of sprinting, lollygagging jogging back just jogging,
not even just casual about it. On makes sometimes too correct.
Where the Wolves scored, they didn't get back.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
We also.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Did not get or go downhill as often as we vow.
We always want to do. What was the big what
was the commentary after game one? Yeah, he might block
twelve shots, but we're not going to stop going to
the basket.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
That's not what we're made of. That's not what we're
going to do.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
We're fearless, We're not afraid, and it helps our offense
when we go downhill. How much did we go downhill? Well,
we were outscored in the paint fifty eight to thirty six.
We also did not get healthier. Iodasum Wu gave it
a try, was ineffective. I think he ended up playing

(12:33):
ten minutes. Yeah, zero for four from the floor. Did
not look did not look right. I'm guessing there's very
little chance he's going to be available for game number three,
although I don't know if there's been any sort of
official designation.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
What else did we not do well?

Speaker 4 (12:50):
We did not stay out of foul trouble, or more specifically,
one player now deemed by all the Jackals as irreplaceable,
the Edwards Jade McDaniels, could not stay out of foul
trouble again. He ends up playing only twenty minutes and
by the way, had respectable scoring numbers in those twenty minutes.

(13:12):
Looked probably was the only timberfi I thought who looked
like he was getting to the spots he wanted to
get to to score, right, But he gets in foul trouble.
We all know what that does to the defense, especially
on the perimeter. He's guarding Fox some of the time.
Fox went off. I will say this, I don't know
if it was the second filer of the third one.
I thought it was a terrible call. And I don't

(13:35):
remember who the perimeter player was for san Antonio Davey
who drives on him Castle.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
Castle is.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
Not only using his off arm, He's got it extended
several times. I'm okay, if you don't call that, if
you also that at the end of that play, don't
call the foul on Jayden. I thought that was the
worst call of the night. I'm not here to say
the Wolves would have won if he stayed on the court,
but bottom line is we did not stay out of

(14:04):
foul trouble or he didn't. We did not cherish possessions.
We finished the game with twenty two turnovers. I don't
know how many they had, but I don't know. I
don't think it was as many as that. And because
of all those things, and of course we did not
refuse to get punked. That's the way that the head coach,

(14:25):
Finchy put it. He's right on the money, speaking it
plainly and clearly the way it needs to be said.
You didn't hear a lot from Finchy about well, we
came to San Antonio and we got we got our victory.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
No.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
Now he may be believing that deep down, and there's
some truth to it, but I liked that the message
he's seen to be delivering was that was bad. There
was there was nothing competitive about what we did there
at all. The only good thing out of last night
is if you if you are used to having your
teeth in the glass by I don't know ten o'clock,

(15:00):
you could because the second half there was nothing missed right.
In fact, to the credit of the Spurs, what did
they do. They did not rest on their first half, Laurels.
They took the game over in the second quarter, but
they came out in the third and they did boot
on the throat stuff and immediately turned a semi route

(15:22):
into an utter and complete laugher, which is to their credit.
And if you needed to get some sleep then you could,
I think in good conscience, say teeth in the glass.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
I'm going a bit, don't you think absolutely?

Speaker 4 (15:34):
I started doing other things while I didn't go to sleep,
but I started just to kind of work on some
other things. Look ahead, yes, kind of glance up. Okay,
we're still down twenty five. You could guilt free tune
out if you wanted to, no question about it. Bonus
bucks right now, fan and big deck dot com would
love to help you with that. In Bills is the
first keyword of the afternoon. Go to KFA and dot

(15:55):
common and through the keyword bill. It's a did not
Do edition of the Buffer Bumper Program. I gave you
a list of my do not dues from last night.
We're gonna get a couple more, probably from guards. He
here in a minute hando Minneapolis from the did not

(16:18):
do category, did not move the ball, a string of
possessions where there were literally zero passes. It was the
most disappointing part for me about the way Anthony started
the game. Look, if he hits a couple of those shots,
we say, hey, that's the tone, but you want to
mix right. And this to me was before they started

(16:40):
going to what he called that crazy coverage where there
it felt like they were sending.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
Three people at him at times.

Speaker 4 (16:46):
Even before I think that ensued, he was it looked
to me like it's the old I'm just gonna jack
up a couple of shots from outside, see if they
go in.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Well, you have any other did not know?

Speaker 4 (16:54):
That?

Speaker 1 (16:55):
Was that your one?

Speaker 4 (16:56):
Well? Yeah, you covered a lot of it in the
first segment, but just the overall offensive approach was lacking.
And then when the ball doesn't move, the bodies aren't moving,
and then when you don't score, you're not moving back
like it all works together. Julius Randall right there, And
that's the you know, that is the tough part. As
much as he's meant in these playoff runs and as

(17:20):
much as the plus minus will tell you he's been
dominant again, it's like on a night where again like
Ant's just not himself. You can tell he's not explosive.
He's not trying to be explosive. He's trying to feel
his way into some things. He obviously didn't shoot well
last night. I just wish Randall could be the other
tone setter, because that is who he's supposed to be.

(17:40):
It is, and we talk about Aunt setting a tone
on both ends of the floor all the time. And
again it's one of those things where you can watch
three possessions and no, it's just not going to be
that way unless something drastically changes, and it obviously didn't,
but just the overall lack of energy expended offensively to
get good shots then translate to the like the ESPN

(18:02):
crew was like, flumm It's like, man, another other fast
break for San Antonio, Minnesota. It's not getting back. It's like, yeah, unfortunately,
we're familiar. Yeah we've seen it, we know, and they
just can't get themselves out of it. And they missed
a million shots in the first quarter. It missed like
Wendy didn't black a lot of shots, but there were
clearly some where they were looking for him. Clark's comes
to mind on the baseline as it came up short,

(18:23):
like there's so that's how dominant he is.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
That's why he's wemby.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
And if a couple more of those fall, if a
couple more of Anthony's fall, does everybody get into it
a little bit more and actually decide, hey, we're here,
we can.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
As well try to compete with game for Game two.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
Because the Spurs were not brilliant, not early in the
first quarter and a half until basically we gave them
no choice because they could just frolic up the floor. Well,
the other thing I think they did that was smart
is look wemby whatever we think of seven five guys
hitting three pointers, it's part of the way the league
is set up right now, and he can't hit them.
But in Game one, I certainly felt like I think

(18:59):
I heard this from Barkley, Charles Barkley a lot that.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
They didn't They didn't put him.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
It's not that you got to post him up on
every possession or anything like like it's, you know, nineteen
eighty two, But they didn't involve him in any actions.
It was all all perimeter stuff. And I thought in
this game they did a lot better job moving him
around where he's not initiating, but he ends up with
the ball. They put him in more actions, I guess

(19:29):
I'm trying to say, rather than him just being on
the perimeter saying Okay, I'm I'm taller than anybody, nobody's
gonna be able to lock my shot. I'm just gonna
take some threes. And it didn't look like the Wolves
were very effective about in you know, compensating there or
adjusting to that too. So how about the clean Now
we didn't hear We didn't hear this from Finchy.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Did we hear from within the Wolves locker room?

Speaker 4 (19:50):
Anybody else offer the other cliche after you get blown
out in the playoffs, because I think I heard this
from who's the sixers outstanding guard Maxie after they got
blown out in game one. He went with the old
doesn't matter if you lose by one or lose by fifty, right,

(20:13):
and strictly speaking, there's some truth to it can be,
but I think it's a little too easy of a
dodge to go down that particular road. So I fully
expect you will see a much more engaged Wolves team
in Game three. It would be hard to not be. Well,
that's not get right. I'm not going out on much

(20:34):
of a fair but I hope so. Yes, No, and
the now the pressure's on them, right, The pressure was
on San Antonio last night, and the Wolves played like it.
They fully acknowledged that they didn't need to win that game,
and they acted like it, which is too bad.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
It is not a good. It's not a good.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
Again, it's not illegal to lose to the Spurs in
Game two after you've stolen.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
Oh, I don't want to say stolen. I think they
fair and square earned game.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
One, even if they the basketball gods did you know,
smile upon them late. But I think sometimes there is
such a thing as a victory feeling like more than
one victory if it erases some possible doubt in the
other team that's supposed to win the series, has been

(21:19):
anointed already but doesn't have any real playoff success and
did lose its opener on its home floor, that they
come out of that game saying, well, we can do
all of it.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
If we do ABC and D, we can do all
of it.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
Now again, you got to stop them from doing If
not all four, ABC and D, maybe you stop him
from doing two of them, and you can counter the
thing and put it right back in our direction. Because
somebody wrote, well, remember remember Game three against OKC. We
won by forty two, and that was the last game
we won in the series. Right, We lost that series

(21:54):
in five, lost an epic Game four. So that's I
think an attempt to say it's not the end of
the world to lose the way the Wolves did. No,
but I would say when you compound who you're playing,
and that they may have had some doubts a little
bit after the first game, even though they're not going
to voice that, that a lot of their confidence I'm
sure had to be restored. You you probably took away

(22:18):
a lot of the self doubt that they might have
had internally if they weren't going to talk about it publicly. Hockey, Well,
we got another I mean, how many days off do
we have. We're back Saturday night, Saturday night, eight o'clock.
I think has it been declared who will be in
the net for Uce I don't know. I haven't seen it.
If it has been, I don't know. They didn't do
anything yesterday and they did some stuff today.

Speaker 1 (22:40):
Maybe I.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
Suggested, on the basis of I don't know if he
said body language or inside sources or commentary or within
the team, that he expects Volstet to be back as
the netminder Saturday night in game number three. I'll say

(23:03):
again what we said a couple times yesterday. You don't
take care of your special team stuff. At some point,
you can't keep hiding those issues in the postseason.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
It's gonna catch up with you.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
They got away with it first round because they were
so good five on five. But beyond goaltending, that's what
has to be accomplished or I'm not sure it's even
gonna matter who you haven't net and which goaltender is
going particularly well or not so well. Let's come back
in chat with the West Coast Bureau chief of the
Bumper Bumper Program, Craig Kilbourn Kilby with apparently another movie update.

(23:42):
He's got a new movie update for us as he's
putting together his new motion picture, as he revealed to
us in his last appearance on the program. Questions for
Kilby six four six six Interesting questions already coming in

(24:17):

(26:23):
Lady AND i fell in love With.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
California, yeah it's hard to argue with. THAT i hope
you're doing. Well have you.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
Been life is, Good life is. Good i'm very busy
with pre production on the. Film, yes and it's going very.
WELL i do have a fun update when you want.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
It, yeah you like, it you don't like. It i'm
looking forward to. That we'll get to that in just a.
Minute so you have been known to walk away from
the wolves when they perform as dreadfully as they did last,
night just saying that's.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
ENOUGH i don't NEED i don't need to see. ANYMORE
i know.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
Basketball there's nothing happening here, tonight So i'm, gonna i don't,
know go mix drink or go have a late night
snack or.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
Put your slippers.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
On.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
Whatever what was it like For Lord kilby last night
as he's Processing game?

Speaker 2 (27:09):
TWO i view This Dan burreer show as a safe, space,
okay safer than my.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
HOUSE i.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
Can't there are THINGS i can tell you THAT i
wouldn't Tell Princess. CHERRY i turned it off a second
early second, quarter THEN i follow.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
IT i.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
Can't my eyes can't be exposed to this. Debacle i've
been watching too much. Hoop, yeah AS i Told guards
the off, AIR i rewatched the fourth quarter Of game
six four. TIMES i did not think we had a
shot going into that, game especially WHEN i Heard iodasuma was.
Out but, no that was that was a. DEBACLE i

(27:48):
Think guards the earlier said The spurs were frolicking up the,
court which, is you, know, colorful but that's The wolves were.
Awful but here's here are a couple points In tell me
if they make. Sense you, know The spurs had to win.
Yesterday they're not going to go TO i don't know
how good The spurs. ARE i haven't seen them play.

(28:10):
ENOUGH i know how GOOD okc. IS i THINK i
know how Good denver, is BUT i was surprised we
won that. SERIES i also didn't, think unlike when we
Beat denver In game seven a couple of years, ago
that we were exhaling and said, okay and we weren't
ready For.

Speaker 3 (28:26):
Dallas hey we won game. One that was, great But i'm.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Concerned i've heard that The spurs have really good, defense
and they clamped down and they took it to us
to the. WOODSHED i like to say we got, pumped
but somebody already said, that so.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
We didn't. Adjust they were. Physical THEY i don't know
how good they are on.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
DEFENSE i can't wait to see what happens In game
three and THEN i can, Say, okay now we're back.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
To being BECAUSE i don't know.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
MAN i THINK i think we can beat, them BUT
i don't know them well. Enough and THEN i, say,
well we can only beat them if we're. Healthy and
IF i was not playing AN ants seventy, five Then
Julius randall and these other guys are gonna have to nas.
Reed you, know everyone's going to have to contribute.

Speaker 4 (29:16):
All, true and of course you know De vincenzo is out.
Forever that's another factor that has to be thrown in the.
Mix we kind of take it for granted, now but
that's another that's a. Starter you, know who's who's.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
Gone. Two you hit on an important.

Speaker 4 (29:32):
POINT i think regarding The spurs, defensively that goes beyond
the shot blocking ability of the big. Man they've got
wings who can guard and are interested in. Guarding and
you know we didn't see that From. Denver that's not
something that they enjoy very. Clearly all, season even with

(29:54):
a better record than The, wolves they won by outscoring.
People SO i think you've hit on another thing That
finchy's got to figure, out, is all, right how do
we want to attack them defensively above and beyond the big,
man because they've got willing wing defenders who like to
get into, people just like we like to get into.

Speaker 2 (30:12):
People, yeah AND i didn't see it in game. One
we kept getting to the rim and getting swadded or
laying it on the backboard and getting.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
It they didn't call the goal.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Ten but but, yeah they are, athletic And i'm finding
out how good they. Are i'm very CURIOUS i will
Say i've said in the past because of our, turnovers,
MAN i would pressure The wolves bringing the ball.

Speaker 4 (30:35):
Up.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
Question, yeah we.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
Only Have conley, Now Mike conley point, guard AND i
would also DO i can't stand. It but when they
double team an across the timeline and make them get
get rid of the, BALL.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
I would do that all night.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
Long, YEAH i mean it Really it Throws ann off
and if his teammates aren't sharp enough to get it
back to him immediately or get it back to him
at some, point then we're have a.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Problem BUT i was impressed with The spurs. DEFENSE i really.

Speaker 4 (31:03):
Was when you Watch, ANTHONY i, mean how much Of
anthony is there do you?

Speaker 1 (31:10):
THINK i, mean he's had.

Speaker 4 (31:11):
Stretches game, one, obviously fourth quarter he was, massive he had, eleven,
Right but you, know part of me says, that you,
know one of the reasons that he was jacking up
long rain shots early yesterday was not because he doesn't
he's unaware that this team. Is he's more effective if he's,

(31:35):
heading if he's going to the, basket but that you,
know he doesn't have it. All he's not healthy, yet
and so it's the old all. Right every once in a.
WHILE i can, just you, know throw up a shot
because he's capable of hitting long. Shots how much of
the Real anthony or are we seeing?

Speaker 3 (31:50):
Here i'm gonna say seventy.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
FIVE i THINK i don't know if he said eighty
percent before the game, won BUT i heard eighty percent
from SOMEBODY i after last.

Speaker 3 (31:59):
Night seventy. Five maybe it's the.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
LESS i didn't watch the second, half AND i hope
again a safe space.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
Here BUT.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
I i kind of thought when with this, injury he
might play more, cerebral Meaning i'm gonna ball, Fake i'm
gonna move the, Ball i'm gonna hit my jumper square
up and not be so.

Speaker 3 (32:19):
Reckless BUT i don't.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Know Now i'm really. CONCERNED i love that he's there
because we know he can take. Over, man that game
one fourth quarter at the beginning when he scored, nine
that he had eleven in the fourth was so.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
Great SO i think it's.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
Gonna be H he's gonna have to do his, thing
but not not, everything and that's why we. Need thank, GOD.
Tj shannon's playing pretty. WELL i don't know If Bones
island is ever gonna contribute down to the. Series he's,
better he better and uh, yeah it's it's put it's
put pressure on these guys not to have off nights

(32:57):
these other, guys, right that's true.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
POINT i, mean do you, On let's talk a little
bit About jaden and then we'll get eventually some other
stuff beyond hoops as.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
Well but.

Speaker 4 (33:09):
Obviously he was terrific In game six of The denver.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
Series he's the difference you could argue in the.

Speaker 4 (33:19):
Game the ongoing question that really probably has more to
do with the future than the rest of this tournament
is whether there should be a conscious transition that The
wolves make next year into Deeming jayden as more of

(33:40):
if you have to do, options the number two option
ahead Of Julius randall that it's in him and that
maybe some of it is you just have to you
have to almost force it out of him and say, no,
no this is we want you to be a little
bit more selfish and take more, shots And julius goes
to a different gear Because jayden can. Disappear we know

(34:03):
that he get into foul. Troubles he did again last,
night but he's now. SHOOTING i think this is shooting
percentage has gone up every, year his scoring average has gone,
up so it's the ongoing debate about whether he's got
another gear in. Him i'm not saying to a guy
who's going to average, thirty but maybe a guy whos
can average twenty, two and that for the long term

(34:23):
growth of the, team that probably makes more sense and
continuing to Have julius try to be the second.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
Guy what do you?

Speaker 2 (34:30):
Think he certainly has improved his, offense AND i marvel
at what a soft touch he. Has, yes you, know
twelve feet in it's. Soft and he's AGAIN i think He's.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
Craiger's Craig. KILBARN i think.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
We lost him and now he lost Guards hee.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
Too he's at in the studio there he. Is now you're. Back,
yeah went? Away you went away for about fifteen.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
Seconds Interest, YEAH i heard you the whole. TIME i
crossed my leg and hit mycord here on my. HEADPHONES i,
mean you know, Again i'm by myself and my. DEN
i THOUGHT i could cross my. Legs, Okay SO i was,
saying he's really improved his. Offense BUT i do remember

(35:23):
last YEAR i wanted to be competitive In game five and, okay,
see and he missed his first seven shots AND i
left and.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
Open So i'm. Not i'll what you.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
PROPOSE i will, say let's experiment with that in some. Games,
uh and see how he. Does uh if he keeps,
scoring and then we can adjust accordingly and then Have
julius to his.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
Thing the.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
Thing the thing about A Julius randall and these scores
is they go through cold. Spells, yes and and so
WE i guess if we're going to Have jayden as
a number two, option we'll have to allow him to
go through a cold. Spell my understanding is is he's
still not hitting a high percentage of threes right.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
Now, no that's. True, yeah that's all.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
MAN i tell. You he.

Speaker 2 (36:07):
Can it seems like he can, dribble drive and pull
up and. Score and it's, like what a bonus this?
Guy he played well yesterday except he Was.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
Yeah he was probably their best player yesterday because he
was getting to spots that he likes to get. TO
i think he's had thirteen shots and MADE i want
to say seven or.

Speaker 1 (36:26):
EIGHT i believe in that.

Speaker 4 (36:28):
Range this is a it's probably a little bit, stale
BUT i want to go back a little bit to
the end of The denver series BECAUSE.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
I still game.

Speaker 4 (36:38):
Six i'll talk about it all. Day, yeah BECAUSE I
i have maintained a. Belief you, KNOW i have been
here literally obviously since this team's. INCEPTION i remember it,
well even the debate about what our nickname should, be
whether it should be The Polar.

Speaker 1 (36:53):
WINTER i Like Winter winter as a.

Speaker 4 (36:55):
Singular, okay, yeah well it was it was going to
be Either, polars oh, okay or Or timber.

Speaker 1 (37:01):
WAS i think those ended up being the.

Speaker 4 (37:02):
Finals BUT i will tell you, This they've obviously played
games where more was on the. Line BUT i, thought,
literally in all the Games i've ever seen this team
play in, person or many of them just covering or just,
watching that that for blood and guts kind of fiber.
PERFORMANCE i thought that was the best game in this franchise's.

(37:23):
History you factor in when you factor in the, injuries
BECAUSE i don't think hardly anybody gave them a.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
Chance and.

Speaker 4 (37:32):
It's not a team that always seems to be about the, fiber,
RIGHT i, mean because they can be so. Exasperating BUT
i thought that was that's going to hold up as
the gutsiest, game albeit first, round but the gutsiest game
in this team's.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
History is that? Hyperbole?

Speaker 2 (37:48):
No BECAUSE i was asking the question AND i had
our Friend Johnny athletic on The Life gorgeous this week
AND i, Said, okay Is game six the greatest game in?
History or is It game seven At? Denver and he,
SAID i gotta Go game seven on the road At.
Denver it's A game seven and it's on the. Road,
okay got. It but when you're saying gutsy and let's
throw in, gritty, Yes and there was no frolicking by

(38:10):
The nuggets up the.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
Court so this WAS i.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
DAN i was being.

Speaker 3 (38:16):
NEGATIVE i was being.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
REALISTIC i texted friends and, said we're gonna get blown.
Out the series is over because we had to win the.
Game the game In, DENVER i think we had twenty
four twenty four turnovers and we do, that AND i just,
said there's no.

Speaker 3 (38:30):
Way and then when WHEN i Saw io was, OUT
i was, like this is a.

Speaker 1 (38:33):
Joke.

Speaker 3 (38:33):
Yeah SO i did not Anticipate Jamal murray's shooting so. Poorly,
no and a lot of.

Speaker 4 (38:40):
That of, course we're back To Jayden jason because the
guy's just relentless on him right at the at the
at the, perimeter you, know and and you, think if
YOU'RE i mean, again you could Say jamal is inconsistent offensively,
anyway but with the, side you, know it's gotta be
harrowing to see somebody that, tall who's not obviously supposed

(39:01):
to be able to play in the perimeter and guard
somebody Like Jamal murray and he tortured.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
Him, REALLY i thought he tortured him the whole.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
Series, oh AND i THINK i want to.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
TALK i want to talk about the torture BECAUSE i
think we got to get a little under the skin
of these gases spurs, now, yes BUT i wanted to
ask you game, SIX I.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
Guards he told me he was there and it was really.
LOUD i was there. Too, yeah that's WHAT i. Wanted
so it was out of, control, right it? Was, yeah
it was for for.

Speaker 4 (39:28):
Once the loudest ovation wasn't if somebody was going to
miss a second free throw on the visiting team the second,
half which is amazing to.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
Me it's still.

Speaker 4 (39:36):
Amazing but, everybody like you, know everybody does want something for. Free,
no it was WHAT i said To. Guards he AND
i think we agreed on, this is that the interesting
psychology there in terms of the fan behavior in that
game WAS i think they came to the ballpark with
the trepidation you've laid out, yep because it's it is

(39:57):
what it, is, Right and they started early kind of,
slow and then as they got back in, it and
then they got a, lead and then you get to
halftime and they're still in, it and they might have
even been ahead at the, HALF i don't. Remember and
as it goes, on you get this SENSE i. Did
the people around, me it's like dawning on, this like.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
Hell this could.

Speaker 1 (40:18):
Happen, this maybe this can actually.

Speaker 4 (40:20):
Happen they're not pulling, Away denver's not figuring anything, out
and all that put. Together by the end of, IT
i thought it was as as loud and you, know
organic a reaction from a wolf's crowds AS i can.

Speaker 2 (40:35):
Remember AND i Want that's WHAT i want For game
three against The. SPURS i want this incredibly emotional attack,
them get up in their. Face they're obviously better on
defense Than, denver so it's.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
Gonna be a tough. GAME i, mean do you know
how Good San antonio. IS i haven't SEEN i.

Speaker 1 (40:51):
Haven't the same as.

Speaker 4 (40:52):
YOU i have not seen them enough other than trusting you,
know some of the national media people who love. Them
but there was a part of me that, Said, okay
every team still has to do it and to recover
from a game Like game, one for, example games that
they're supposed to win or that they didn't at. Home you,

(41:14):
KNOW i thought that was a fair question to, ask
even with their sixty two victories during the. Seasons, okay let's,
see let's see if they deal how they might deal
with an injury or a little bit of, misfortune because it,
is you, know a different it's a whole different approach
and animal in the. Postseason AND i hadn't just not
seen them, ENOUGH i mean to really to understand whether
they were as dominant as their record, suggested because as you,

(41:37):
know around the, league most people have said it's a
two horse race in The west for, sure that there's
only one team that can knock off A, okc and
That San. Antonio although there were some people who Thought,
denver because they played them so well last year and
were so hot coming into the tournament this, year might
be that other.

Speaker 1 (41:56):
Team The wolves name did not come.

Speaker 2 (41:58):
Up, yeah, EVERYONE i don't think anyone knows how good
The wolves, are including us and And. Finch he talked
about he didn't want to be the flip the switch,
team but he had no. Choice you better flip it,
now you better flip it in the, playoffs and they
did on a number of. Games you know the thing
about The, SPURS i really used to fear Dearon fox At.

(42:19):
Sacramento he didn't have a good first. Game he played well,
yesterday shot, well didn't shoot. Enough he was six for,
ten two of two on. Threes but he he's a
guy that SOMETIMES i, go we can't guard this game
BECAUSE i KNOW i saw him score fifty over fifty
against The wolves in the, game regular season. Game so
they definitely have, talent and it's it's kind of it's
kind of cool that they. Don't that they only have

(42:40):
one day off and we get to see them. Tomorrow
that's pretty. EXCITING i hope everyone's rested. Up but that's
going to be a hell of a.

Speaker 4 (42:46):
GAME i love it when it's you, know you play
every other. DAY i think it's just for the for
THE i know why it's done, el you know FOR.
Tv it's done differently many. Times, hell your favorite hockey
team in this little WILD i mean they've had three
days off before they play their.

Speaker 1 (43:02):
Game three caprice offf is.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
READY i Mean capriceoff needs to step up if he's
the highest paid.

Speaker 1 (43:06):
Player well, said there you, go big. Knockers big knocker's.

Speaker 3 (43:10):
Cotting over the. Park take care of the.

Speaker 4 (43:12):
Park now you're staying to Sound Jacques. Lamaire do you
Remember Jacques, lamaire the first?

Speaker 1 (43:19):
Coach?

Speaker 3 (43:20):
Oh, yeah, yeah, YEAH i remember that.

Speaker 4 (43:22):
Name.

Speaker 2 (43:22):
Tremendous, YEAH i love to say this guy's. Name SO
i followed hockey in the seventies AND i Interviewed Dennis
leary wants a big. HOCKEY i, YES i follow hockey
in the. Seventies who was the fastest skater in THE.
Nhl he didn't, know Vonn.

Speaker 4 (43:40):
Yes that's such a great that's such a great. Callback they,
had they, had they had so many great players it was.
Absurd we, had, uh you, know we Have louis on
Lou nanny all the, time and several years ago we
had a series of shows that we, called you, Know
legends With. Louis he'd bring on because of his his
connection to everybody in. Hockey he'd get these big names

(44:02):
to come on with, us Including Kenny, dryden not the
late Great Kenny, dryden who went on a terrific political
career after being just an absurdly successful goaltender with the
Aforementioned Montreal canadians as.

Speaker 1 (44:18):
Well so you you you know your seventies, HOCKEY i
tell you my favorite.

Speaker 2 (44:22):
PLAYER i, MEAN i like guys on the on The North,
Stars bill Golds, Worthy Jude, drew And Jakie. Pei but
my favorite player was on The, rangers number nineteen the.

Speaker 1 (44:32):
Center or is it you just like Saying Jeen, Retel,
yes oh that's a lot of.

Speaker 3 (44:40):
It but he looked. COOL i don't know if he
wore a. HELMET i don't think he. DID i don't.

Speaker 4 (44:43):
REMEMBER i don't think. SO i don't think those are
helmet helmet. Days I'm i'm pretty sure they're. Not by the,
way did you get have you paid any attention to
the The Draymond? Green Draymond green as usual is getting
is going at everybody and getting everybody worked. Up in
this case nothing related To, RUDY i will add he

(45:05):
went After charles.

Speaker 1 (45:07):
Yesterday did you hear about the shot he took A.

Speaker 3 (45:09):
CHARLES i haven't listened to the. CLIP i know about
his his little feud.

Speaker 4 (45:14):
With, yes that's another one he's got going well With
charles was BASICALLY i think the question was how long
you want to? Play and you, know how much less
of Peak draymond can you live with when you're you,
know trying to just to decide how long to play
and your to finish your. Career and it was something
the effect of H he looked At charles and, said,

(45:36):
well you don't want, to you, know you don't want.
TO i don't want to get to the point like you,
KNOW i, like like like The charles in In, houston
which is AND i GUESS i didn't see it, live
but Apparently charles took it and and just let it.

Speaker 1 (45:50):
Go, no actually he, did he.

Speaker 4 (45:53):
DID i think the comeback eventually was marveling over how
many single singles That Day day has had in his.

Speaker 1 (46:01):
Career, restmen double double is a good.

Speaker 4 (46:02):
Line but if you go back and look Up barkley's,
stats as some people, Have, Yeah i'm talking about In,
houston which obviously wasn't Peak, charles they were. Absurd he
had numbers That Draymond, green of course a different kind of,
player but could not even possibly dream.

Speaker 2 (46:19):
OF i just KNOW i looked up once years ago
BECAUSE i Met, barkley AND i was here was what the.
BALLPLAYER i said to the. Ballplayer what do you Think
charles shot a career three point? Percentage and the, guy you,
know the guy it Was Chris, Webbery Chris, WEBER i don't,
know thirty three or, Something.

Speaker 3 (46:37):
No twenty eight And charles is, LIKE i just those
at the end of the.

Speaker 2 (46:40):
Game.

Speaker 4 (46:44):
Eight, yeah and The rivers one's probably not even worth
getting into. It it's it's, rather it's rather likes to stir.

Speaker 2 (46:51):
UP i sometimes worry about these. GUYS i used to
worry About Dennis robin when he. Retired how's he going
to fit into? Society BUT i, guess, yeah hasn't gotten
into too much. Trouble and, Yeah draymond is just gonna
say these. Things he's JUST i don't, know some guys
likes to like to, instigate and he likes to.

Speaker 1 (47:11):
Instigate he does on the court and he does via his. Podcast.

Speaker 4 (47:15):
Right, uh let's get a quick break. IN i want
to get to a couple updates on your motion. PICTURE
i got a couple other questions to get to in
some texts. Too Craig kilbourne kind enough to join. Us

Fear thrives in silence and confusion. Ana Navarro rejects both. Her voice is an antidote to today’s chaos. Her new podcast, Bleep! with Ana Navarro, takes on today’s most pressing issues with the voices most connected to it: decision-makers, political leaders, cultural shapers, and people on the frontlines of the story. The conversations acknowledge the emotions we all feel—despair, sadness, fear— but emerge with knowledge, perspective, and hope. The belief is simple: fearless dialogue can transform fear into courage, and courage into change. When fear dominates the headlines, this show digs deeper. Because information, debate, and conversation don’t just ease fear, they give us power to shape the future.
