Speaker 1 (00:01):
Time now for Fantasy Football Weekly from iHeartRadio, your weekly
source for the nation's best fantasy speculation and advice.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
What's up and Welcome back to another offseason edition of
Fantasy Football Weekly with your faithful narrator, John Legeza and
my friend and yours, mister Jake Trowbridge. Jake Man, I
have really been digging these episodes, staying plugged in, and
I'm drafting already, baby, So I'm really digging this off
season stuff. How are you doing?
Speaker 1 (00:34):
I mean, the off season is coming to the point
where it's gonna hit a crescendo.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
We're not quite there yet.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
We're not quite there yet, but I would say in
a couple of weeks it's gonna really start to pop off.
I did my first Bestball draft just today, just before
we hopped on here first by very first.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
One of the off season.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Actually did as a tandem with Matthew Berry and a
couple of other folks. And I gotta tell you now,
I feel oh juiced up all this adyp you've been
talking about the last few weeks.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Now I feel like I'm in it.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
I can I answer your question just a quick pivot
in real time, because I'm really always so curious with
how other sharps think. Do you have a takeaway? Like
do you have an instant takeaway when you when you
close the draft when it said team full, what was
your first thought? Because I remember mine was initially rebttioned.
This was, ooh, I'm not taking those early quarterbacks anymore.
(01:21):
I felt like there were so many available pick seventy
eighty and ninety.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
It's so funny that you mentioned that because I literally
as we wrap that up, we were going through the
hits and misses sort of of that draft, and that
is the first thing that I thought was, Wow, there's
some really respectable high ceiling at least quarterbacks. As we
get in the mid rounds, you don't have to take
even a rock party level of quarterback. You can go
Malik Willis, Tyler shuck, you can go later, you can
(01:46):
go as late as you want. I would not call
myself a shark, by the way, with these best ball things,
I would say, those are your words, John, not mass
That's okay.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
I'll go ten toes down on those as my kids.
As my kids would say. But realistically speaking back on
track to wait right, I'm doing air quotes for the
audio people. You could wait on quarterback into the seventies
and have your pick of Jalen Hurts, Caleb Williams, Drake May.
You could wait into the eighties to go Herbert T. Law,
(02:15):
into the nineties for Dart Purty, into the hundreds for
Nicks and Stafford, or beyond for love and shuck. So
that was really my first takeaway in early drafts is
especially in one quarterback redraft leagues, I doubt I'm gonna
have much of any Josh Allen because you're, you know,
that fifty pick premium. I'm not sure the one v
(02:36):
one opportunity cost stuff works out. But let's to walk
quick news and notes section again. This has really been
helpful to stay plugged in. First things first, that's always
something Josh Jacobs running back for the Packers ADP thirty
one per The Brown County District Attorney David Lassie said,
after reviewing the available evidence in Jacob's like abuse case,
they're not prepared to make a formal charging decision. He'll
(02:58):
be released into and the decision we made at a
later date. The reason I see that is there was
an immediate reaction to this case, and so I don't
know what's gonna happen. And I don't think you do either, Jake.
And that's all I'm gonna say about it is we
don't know. Let it play out. Other situations that there's
been types of certainty have not panned out the way
(03:21):
people thought. Roshie Rice missed zero games to date. So
until there is a determination, I'm not changing my opinion
on Jacobs, which is I'm not drafting them anyway. Let
everyone have him. And now if there's also, like any
kind of added risk, I'm kind of out in it.
Green Bay moves a little bit too slow, he doesn't
feel explosive enough to me, and we've had some injury stuff,
(03:42):
so that adp felt little rich. How do you feel
about Josh Jacobs and if you have anything to throw
in on the situation, please feel free.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Yeah, I'm out.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
I mean I've been reluctant to draft him before all
this stuff came out. I'm just I'm plainly out at
this point. I'm also not going to mess with any
of the other potential backups with this situation because a
we don't know how much time he's gonna miss, if any,
because the situation is so unresolved. But even if he
does miss time. Am I confident that one of the
guys on the roster currently is gonna step up Marshawn Lloyd,
(04:12):
Chris Brooks, Pierre Strong.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
No, I'm not confident in any of them.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Do I think they could grab a free agent or
trade for some cheap ish option from another messy backfield?
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Maybe?
Speaker 1 (04:23):
But I think if any of this really does happen,
it's probably gonna look like a twenty sixteen ish version
of the Packers' backfield when Eddie Lacy got hurt and
you had the scrap yard of Nil Davis and James
Starks and Christine Michael.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
And I think it's just an avoid altogether for me.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Yeah, agreed, even as somebody off Jacobs. This is something
I've been talking about in my own stream is I've
been trying to what I'm calling the anti take, meaning
if I have a player take and it could be
not drafting a player, then there's usually like an equal
one opposite reaction to that. Not so much with Green Bay, meaning,
(05:00):
you know, if you don't like Trevian Henderson, you should
be on Remandre and vice versa. You know, if you
don't like Aaron Jones, maybe you like Jordan Mason. Right,
if you are not taking the early quarterback, maybe you're
sandwiching a few later on things that I've maybe been
slow on, you know, maybe getting the fade but not
going with the backup pick. All right. Next to the
news was my New York Jets rookie ted End Kenyan
(05:22):
Sadik underwinning hernia procedure Aaron Gledzend. They expect him to
be ready for training camp, not just week one, but
training camp. Hernia surgeries. We've seen players have them and
bounce back pretty easily, so I'm not really too worried.
We were already talking about drafting him as like a
tight end two on a team or a tight end
(05:43):
two slash three on a basketball team. So if anyone
is going to hand us a discount on this news,
I'm probably just gonna take it. My friend, what do
you think about Sidiq? I think if you liked him before,
you still do. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
I did not like him before, so I don't like
him now so much.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
I do think, Oh is it not you? I'm sorry?
You know.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Pre draft, I liked Kenyonsidick the profile. I liked his
draft profile. I liked him as a prospect. I didn't
like him so much when he landed with the Jets
for this year. I want to be clear, for this year,
I did not like him as much. I still think
he's fine as a best ball throw and later on.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
The one thing you.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Might say about this is it's too bad because he's
a rookie that he's missing time right now. This is
the time where the rookies are starting to get their
feet wet.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
But I'm not that worried.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
If you liked him as you do, John, I don't
see this as a reason to avoid him whatsoever.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Yeah, and again I wasn't paying a premium, so I'm
gonna let him come to me. To Jets situation is
a little bit questionable, but he is supposed to be explosive,
and I think he's a good compliment. Again, I really
have my best ball hat on right now. Though I
am focusing on redraft. As a comes redraft, I think
you're letting him go. I don't think you're really drafting him.
I generally don't draft a second tight end unless I've
(06:52):
admittedly waited too long. In this situation, when right now
man Sadik at one nine, Let's say he drops a
few picks, which I think he will. I've been making
the coin flip between him and Tigga Concuo, and now
I think I like a Concoo better, who is a
few steps behind him. All right, we saw like zach
Ertz producing that Washington offense. You get Jaden Daniels back.
(07:16):
We know Chigg is really athletic. At the very least,
there's an upside play, So you would you agree there?
Speaker 3 (07:23):
I think you know, absolutely absolutely agree with that. Yep.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
All right, last piece, this one is really for you.
I don't know if you saw this, but you warned
us about injuries, not to invite them, and you were
worried about scenes. Early draft pick Jordan Tyson, wide receiver,
going right now, ADP sixty three. All right, Kellen Morri
was on the microphone and we were all clenched up
tightly in our office chairs. Tyson will not participate in
(07:47):
seven on seven's today. The scenes are nursing him along
while he recovers from a hamstring injury. He did participate
a little bit yesterday. Moore was quoted saying that they'll
control the volume of his reps and they'll ramp him
up to be ready for training camp. Now there's a
lot of coach speaking there. I will say this, Yeah,
(08:10):
the producer beat me to it. None of it is
positive to me. Again, we still can't predict injuries, but
one I don't like to invite him, and to this
one comes at a premium. If you're gonna be taking
injury riffs, I think you should be waiting for that.
Talk to this about Tyson without saying I told you so.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
I would never do something like that to your face.
I do it behind your back now, I think that
Jordan Tyson. It's one thing to say that we can't
predict injuries. It's another thing to know of an existing
injury history that is very recent. So with Jordan Tyson,
he missed the NFL combine. He wasn't there because of
this injury. He had to have his own separate day
(08:50):
much later on to kind of show teams before the draft,
Hey I'm here, I'm good, don't worry about me. So
on one hand, we know that about him. On the other hand,
this scene is like a precaution and maybe a necessary
one when the team drafts a guy knowing he's coming
off an injury. Yeah, I wouldn't want to throw him
out to the wolves right away either and risk that
(09:10):
flaring up. So I think I'm at the same spot
that I was with Jordan Tyson. I'm not gonna let
this derail me too much.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Yeah, I think the same point you made with Sadiq. Also,
you know rings true here how important early repetitions are.
Chemistry and continuity, plus time and the placement. All these
things matter a lot. We don't want our rookies behind
at all. And again, I'm gonna just keep banging on
the table about price when I always like to talk
in these terms of ADP because we find ourselves in
(09:37):
these real draft rooms having to make these real decisions
at that scene, you know, roughly sixty ADP. I would
prefer Roe Ma Doonsa, I would prefer Christian Watson, and
I'd probably even prefer Makaile Lemon, who's even going a
little bit later. So, yeah, I see you not along.
You like all three of those guys more than Tyson.
And if that's the case, Jake, I think we're out
(09:59):
at the cost. Would you just agree on that?
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Yeah, I just I never really thought I was gonna
have many shares of Jordan Tyson this year, because he
was going so high, and this just confirms that, Yes,
I agree, I want all three of those guys over him.
There's probably some other names you could throw at me
that I would like over Jordan Tyson at this moment,
but yeah, don't sleep on Mackay Lemon is my big
takeaway from that.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
It will be interesting to see how that old Eagles
thing shakes out. Everyone has put the court before the horse,
already moving aj Brown along. It seems like a foregone conclusion.
We're gonna find out in the next like seventy two hours.
I think if it's not mistake, I think it's dream.
First is a day the piece of start to move,
So we'll find that out. Then. I tend to totally
agree with you again, Price, you know what's everything now?
(10:41):
Of course I tend to make one fumble every game,
and it was forgetting your awesome idea for the show.
We're gonna be doing fake diamonds. So they actually liked
that term players who popped off last year that we
think will fade. You know what. It's important to be
on that because people do tend to chase the last
thing they saw. We each have two players. Why don't
(11:02):
you give me your first one I haven't seen.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
I mean, I don't think that any of these guys
are forever. I don't even think these guys are two
seasons worth. The two that I'm gonna be talking about.
Last year, we had a guy pop off very unexpectedly,
perhaps one of the most unexpected late season ramp ups
of a wide receiver in history. I want to talk
(11:28):
about Michael Wilson, wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals. I've
really been hammering the Cardinals a lot lately, so I
do feel a little bad. Folks in Arizona probably aren't
thrilled with me right now, and I apologize for that.
But Wilson had this perfect storm of things going right
for him last year that I just want to really
touch on because I don't think it's gonna possibly repeat.
(11:49):
The Cardinals were the most pass heavy team in the
league while Jacoby Brissette was under center, forty passes per
game with Brissette, Brissette not only isn't guaranteed to play
the whole season John because a he's got a contract
thing that he's kind of holding out for right now,
but also they could just turn to Carson Beck, the
rookie at some point if stuff starts to go sideways,
(12:11):
and with this team, I mean, I would bet the
odds are better that they will be a losing team
midway through the season than a winning team. But even
if Prissett does play most of the season, they have
an improved backfield or should by spending the third overall
pick on Jeremiah Love, and they kind of worked their
offensive line a little bit this offseason. Last year, that
(12:31):
backfield was just decimated. John, They had four different running
backs lead the backfield in snaps depending on the week
last year. That's how much mayleay this was. So a
better run game means fewer opportunities possibly for Michael Wilson.
But the big one is this, Marvin Harrison Junior missed
a chunk of time that coincided with Wilson's blow up.
(12:55):
The splits with Marvin Harrison Junior and without over the
last two seasons are really absurd. So John, here's the
splits with Marv on the field. This was twenty eight
games over the last two seasons. Michael Wilson had averaged
four point six targets per game, two point eight catches
thirty four yards, and then seven total touchdowns. In that
(13:18):
twenty eight games now without Marv there he averaged thirteen
point six targets, a full nine targets more per game
per game per game per game, and nine point two
catches for one hundred and nineteen point six yards and
four total touchdowns in five games. Those numbers aren't just
(13:41):
unattainable again this year. It's shocking that it ever happened
in the first place, but it was just this confluence
of everything going right for the guy. So I'm just
fully out on him. Probably, you know, if he ends
up going in the last couple of rounds miraculously, John,
which he won't, then fine, I'll be back in.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
But otherwise I'm staying clear.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
When you mentioned Wilson, that was the first thing that
I thought of, Right, The first thing that comes to
mind was we all remember this epic I mean epic
wide receiver one run and not like AH wide receiver one,
but the wide receiver one in this is a three
or four game span fifteen eighty five, ten for one,
(14:22):
eighteen and eleven for one, two and two. I mean,
holy moly, man just absolutely lighting up the board. But
that was the main thing I wanted to see was
where was that Marv split and did Wilson eat at all?
And the answers not really, not really at all. I
(14:44):
mean I don't even know if you got a big
game with the two of them on the field, and
that would be expected at least sometimes. So yeah, well,
I also I don't think you are you know, beat
down on the Arizona. You know, the prospect of that
the health of that offensive environment is misplaced at all
we spoke about. I think the Love pick was really
(15:06):
just a really bad pick.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
I'm so weird.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
Yeah, you especially considering the Algier thing. It's so frustrating
because like you went and quote unquote solved this problem. Right,
you don't go and pay a guy who's on the
you know, soapbox doing pressures, talking about being the army
one and he's really ready and he's learned under a
great running back and he's ready to take the load
and know what it takes. And I'm like, you're our guy.
And then they're like, oh my gosh, I can't believe
(15:30):
love fel Did you not know what pick number you had?
Just really crazy stuff, just it's just really crazy stuff.
Some franchises are really not run well. So I think
that also plays into it, and you've got the Brisette stuff.
Like you mentioned, it's more of a disaster than anything.
And Wilson is now at pick eighty five, so he's
really not cheap at all. And again, I like these
(15:54):
one v ones going right around Michael Wilson. I mean,
the two names next to him, I'd rather have even
the three going after him in Quentin Johnson. I'm expecting
a big bump from the Chargers Jacoby Myers, who I
think his hashtag great at NFL football in Jacksonville second year,
and I mean he hit the ground running in that system,
traded midstream to get an entire offseason of reps in
(16:17):
that system. I mean, I think there's a real upside
case fort Myers as a wide receiver two or three,
and then even Josh Downs in Indie if we think
he can get into some wide receiver two sets. I
am all the way out on Wilson. That's a really
great call. My guy's going a little bit earlier. He's
a little bit older, and it's mister DeVante Adams. I mean,
I don't know if this one felt a little obvious.
(16:39):
He's still going ADP fifty, So the market is still
buying it. We could do it quick. The efficiency and
the end zone stuff is cartoonish, is the only word
that I could think of. Adams had twenty eight end
zone targets last year. I had to double and triple
check that, Jake. The next highest was eight eighteen. Or
(17:00):
for you math majors out there, thirty six percent over
the field. That's patently insane and not gonna happen again.
For reference, last year's leader was Jamar Chase at twenty one,
so even then, thirty three percent more than last year's leader,
who is an epic talent in a ridiculous offense. So
(17:21):
I actually went and removed the touchdowns West and Adams
is going to score some tds. It's one, you know,
his reason for the season. I get it, but I
removed touchdowns from Adams scoring. He dropped from the overall
tenth pass catcher wide receivers tight ends into the mid forties.
I think it was forty two or forty three. So
remember last year he had exactly zero games with seven
(17:44):
or more catches, and he had only one game over
ninety yards. Mister Tropbridge, when you hear those volume stats,
they're a little bit scary. For a top fifty pick.
What do you think about mister Adams? That's really scary.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
I mean, I knew last year the odds were decent
that he could be a focal point for matt Stafford,
but I thought that the end of the year yardage
would look a lot higher.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Than it did.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
So I was in on DeVante Adams for the wrong
reasons last year, and I just lucked out. I plainly
lucked out because of these touchdowns. I'm not willing to
risk it all on luck again with Devonte Adams. And
it's not that you said it. Matthew Stafford can still
throw this guy touchdowns. And Stafford signed another year extension,
so clearly he's locked in. He's ready to go with
(18:32):
the team. Maybe Pukkua takes a step back from his
complete domination of the field, but that's a lot to
bank on for a guy who's another year older. He's
thirty three years old, Davante Adams. So yeah, I am
also out on him. It's it's nice to kind of
get to his area on the draft board and just say, oh,
that's a skip for me, you know, And honestly it
(18:53):
kind of makes things easier, you know.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
From an archetype perspective. This feels like a tight end analysis.
It's a clear number two pass catcher, right. I mean,
there's no argument Pooka is the one that is not
high volume but also touchdown dependent. To me, that doesn't
fit in the top fifty bin. So we like to
(19:15):
put names in the one v one. I'd rather have
Roma doones A going right after him. I'd rather have
Christian Watson going right after them, both of them who
are gonna project for more volume and in you know,
Watson's case, some deep stuff where Adams is not really
doing that anymore. Yeah, I hate to say it because
I've man, I'm gonna take myself. I remember drafting Devanta Adams,
(19:37):
you know, top ten overall and being thrilled about it
because we loved it. But I think the drop off
is kind of happening. And let's say you got lucky,
because I think you picked a very good player in
a good scenario. So if it works out, you shouldn't
beat yourself up. But I'm always talking about price as
a nefarious chief skate a little too expensive right now,
because again, you're you're asking for quite a bit. Could
(19:59):
you give us your second faith? Doggy.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Well, John, you want to talk about tight ends, Let's
talk about tight ends. I know you're gonna be real
bummed about this. I expect a lot of pushback on
the spellow from you, John, But let's talk about Kyle
Pitts tight end for the Atlanta Falcons. You just you
can't fool me with Kyle Pitts. Not again, not this time.
It's happened too many times before. I won't let it
(20:24):
happen again. But the simple argument for this, John, is
that more than twenty percent of Kyle Pitts's fantasy production
in twenty twenty five came in one single game, and
that game Drake London was sidelined for. It was Week
fifteen against Tampa Bay. He had forty five point six
PPR points in that matchup. So yeah, when your only
(20:47):
target competition on the field is Darnell Mooney and David
Sills and you're playing against the sixth most favorable matchup
for tight ends, which the Buccaneers were last year, then yeah,
you can produce. That's wonderful, And he won you a
couple of matchups because he did also have a nice
game right before that as well. It wasn't quite as
ferocious as that jump up. But if you actually did
(21:10):
start him in those games, you were happy. Not everybody
did start him in those games. A lot of people
didn't even hold on to him that long because he
was such a disappointment early in the season there. But
that whole stretch of games where Drake London was out
I really want to shine a light on this.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
It was weeks twelve.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
Through fifteen, and during that time, Kyle Pitts was on
pace for one hundred and ten catches and fifteen hundred
plus receiving yards for.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
A tight end.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
That I mean, even in the era of like Gronk
and prime Travis Kelce. That's a lot of yards for
a tight end. But in every other matchup where Drake
London was playing, even if he wasn't fully healthy, but
he was out there, Pitts basically offered you, you know,
a slightly worse version of Dalton Schultz. You know, that's
not somebody that I get excited about this year. You
(21:57):
might be excited because Kevin Stefancy's coming town, and you
look at what he did last year in Cleveland with
Harold fannin junior, and that I understand, but I also
have to point out Fanna did not have to compete
with a wide receiver of Drake London's caliber last year,
nor a running back frankly with the pass catching prowess
that Bijon has. So I'm really having trouble clicking him.
(22:19):
Part of it's because I would just rather if I
don't go early in the draft.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
With tight ends. John, you and I've talked about this.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
It's earlier super late for me, and Pits is in
the middle, so I was gonna skip over him anyways,
but if anybody else is tempted, I just think it's
a landmine.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Do you have an urge to draft him? Still?
Speaker 2 (22:38):
Yeah? I started bullish on Pits. You mentioned him, I
think two weeks ago and some split stuff that one
Monster game. I didn't realize how much heavy lifting that
was doing. And the more I look at Pitts, the
more fragile it is. That said, if I do get
caught waiting on tight ends, I've mentioned I really like
(23:00):
Harold Fannin, But if I don't have a tight end
by Fannin at pick ninety five, then I think I
still like Pits over Kittle, who was kind of starting,
you know, on the ir more likely than not. And
then like Kelsey, we've got questions with Mahomes and the
drop off, and like Ferguson, I think he just might
be the most explosive of those. In other words, I'll
draft pits if I think I've already kind of got
(23:22):
caught with my hand in the cookie jar or out
of the cookie jar by the time it's empty. Now,
one more thing that I noticed, I'm surprised it didn't
come up, was the quarterback split stuff awesome. So a
lot of the thriving happened with cousins. I happen to
have an on off split with Michael Pennix, who, again
I'm assuming is the Week one starter. That is what's
(23:45):
kind of been telegraphed, But it's anybody's guest right now,
so I don't know the answer, but I do have
those splits. So this is last year with Pennix. Five
just over five targets for four receptions is all per game,
but just forty per game. Below twenty yards per out
run before below one and a half yards per out run.
Really very much in line with what you're saying. Not
(24:08):
busted pick zero, right, this is not busted pick zero,
but very much in the blob, the five, the four,
those averagers, the four for forty seven to zero tight end,
which a lot of fantasy players can tell you. You
can stream that a lot of times, so you don't
want to spend a top one hundred pick on a
(24:29):
guy you could stream. In Best Ball, you don't have
that option. So if you get caught outside of pick
one hundred and need a tight end, that's the furthest
I'll go with Pits, right if I rattle off the
titans around them, do you like any of those guys
more than him? Outside of fan And well, actually, okay,
we gotta call Samba. Porter is right there, so let's
call it the Porter, Kittle, Kelsey, and Ferguson. Well, I
(24:49):
don't want to say old because the Porter's not old,
but he was just hurt. So whey would you slot
Pits then? Even at the back of those guys.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
I mean, I don't think Jake Ferguson is anything special
in tight end lant He really bat benefited from Ceedee
Lamb being out last year as well, so it's a
very similar study as with Kyle Pitts. I would say
Travis Kelsey still maybe not in Best ball. But in redraft,
I'm actually comfortable with Kelsey over taking Kyle Pitts here
because I do think the return of offensive coordinator Eric
b Enemy is really going to put some life back
(25:19):
into that passing game. Now, the concern is still does
Patrick Mahomes suit up week one, Week two, Week three?
But I'm willing to still bet that even with justin fields.
You know, Kelsey is a pro, he'll be okay for
a couple of weeks until Mahomes gets back. So I
think where I'm really struggling is with Laporta. Though Laporta
also doesn't He doesn't excite me, and I kind of
(25:41):
think that he's on a Kyle Pitts trajectory. He's another
one of these tight ends, had a great rookie year
and he's kind of fallen off since then. So it's
a coin flip between those two.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Yeah, Laporte also there's a lot of mouse to feed
in that offense, and the part of that is, you know,
going to be getting phased out sometimes where he also
there was a stretch last year looking at it where
he was one of those guys, you know, five for
fifty three, four for thirty three, three for twenty six
when you have such a strong run game and you
know a guy like a Monro who could soak up
(26:14):
all those underneath targets where you'd like to see your
tight end throne. Nick granted Laporte is one of the
few guys that can beat you in the seam and
like score long tds. You have James and Williams for that.
You know, the Lions are just kind of stacked as
far as I don't know how you call it, like
apartmentalized weaponry, like a you know, like a chicken for
every pot, like a type of weapons. So I think
I agree with you there. You mentioned the Kelsey stuff
(26:35):
is that's a very interesting redraft argument because I do
agree it makes a lot of sense intuitively to be
on Kelsey more for redraft because you could replace him
if like it's a zero or Age gets him. But
then you have the Mahomes thing. So the more we
hear about Mahomes, the more confident everyone's sounds that he's been,
you know, way ahead of schedule, and he was now
(26:57):
he was a sprinting runner anyway, so maybe he'll be
and at my home is fine. I think I agree
with you on Kelsey, I do all right. My last
one is Courtland Sutton on the Broncos. And again this one,
I mean to me, these are the guys I'm kind
of fading, so like, oh, it kind of makes sense.
But we have the knicks injury, so there's a little
bit of concern there. Right, they went and brought in wattle,
(27:18):
so we're gonna get some target soakage. Plus there's there's
a lot of general competition there. I don't know if
you dabbled in that last year at all, Like doing
the Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant stuff, it was very
hard to predict who was gonna get it. They both flashed.
I actually think they're both talented and Frankly, the wattle
(27:40):
move kind of surprised me a little bit. And then
Sutton despite the big time volume and that was there, right,
this is a full time player who was earning targets. However,
just over four receptions per game, under sixty receiving yards
per game. Jake, he only had took this at me.
This is his bottom of the barrel. Gotta be like
first per secon he had just three yards after the
(28:03):
catch perception. That's that is not like a thing. I
just have all my spread My spreadsheets are all formatted
and like no one has that. That's that's not a
thing that anyone has, like especially with that with that
amount of work. Also what I mentioned, and you know,
because I'm generally a PPR guy, I like slot work
(28:25):
a lot. It's volume, its high probability stuff. When you're
losing garbage time, slot guys really can be effective underneath
the two eye shelves. So he gets no YAK and
no slot work. Plus he's going around Makai Lemon and
Jaden Reid. Everything has got me off of sudden. He's
just a little bit too expensive. Pick eighty one. By
(28:46):
the way, I feel like we're you're now paying the
progressive price for that production that I don't necessarily feel
like is gonna follow. Yeah, talked to this about Sutton
and the Bronco was at large.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
Yeah, John, it feels a little bit like some copy
and pasting happening with his ADP. Just assuming that all
these changes to the roster, I mean, one big change
with Jayalen Wattle, it just feels like it's not caught
up yet and people aren't really soaking that in. I
think you also nailed it with Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant.
I have been a big Pat Bryant guy. I still
(29:18):
really believe in his talent, and I think maybe he's
still the guy who's going to succeed Courtland Sutton. At
some point last year he just could not stay healthy.
It was just the damnedest thing. It was every week
there is some weird new thing that popped up keeping
Pat Bryan off the field. So who knows if he
can stay healthy. If he's I'm not saying that he's
going to eat into Courtland Sutton's targets necessarily, but I'm
(29:41):
also not saying that that's, you know, a possibility. So
also we have to talk that Bo Nicks through the
ball six hundred plus times. I don't know that it's
guaranteed he does that again.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
If JK.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
Dobbins can stay healthy, which I know that's stupid to
even say out loud, he has not done that yet,
but there's a first time for everything. And they did
draft another running back and Emmitt Johnson, So yeah, I'm
out with you. You mentioned Jaden Reid. I think people
have not firmly grasped how how consolidated that passing offense
(30:15):
is going to be so I definitely want him over
Courtland Sutton. Yeah, I'm just gonna be out. He need
to fall probably another round and a half at least
for me. John, what's the falling point for you to
consider him?
Speaker 2 (30:26):
I just I don't know if it's really gonna happen.
I just don't think it's gonna get there. Usually once
i'm at a round, once i'm around beyond edp, I
kind of forego the player almost because you know, I
don't want to overpay for my own work. And there's
still guys I like, because that drops him into the
tier we mentioned before. I'd rather have Quentin Johnson, Apples Tapples,
(30:46):
I'd rather have Jacoby Myers, all right, So there is
always a number, and the number's probably one hundred. Though
Michael Pittman is there, and I like Michael Pittman. I
think he's I think he might be a better version
of Courtland Sutton, like in kind of older guy that
still has to be a little bit of juice that
can earn targets and maybe a little bit of a
questionable offense. I like Denver also, But you make a
(31:07):
great point. The sustainability and the stickiness of that kind
of those drop up rates are crazy. Plus Denver ran
one of the higher rates of three wide receiver sets.
And I mean Watle got brought into play every down,
but you feel like he is very effective in the
slot at points they move both Bryant and Franklin in
(31:29):
and out of the slot. Last year, I wish I
had a strong take on that third Broncos wide out
because man, I think there's some value there. I just
don't know who it's gonna be. You sounded like you
like francoed over Bryant. I think I might be with
you on that one. I don't even know his price.
Shame on me is that where you're standing on the
Broncos wide receiver three.
Speaker 1 (31:49):
I mean that's really just because of the health stuff,
with Pat Bryant saying, well, my banking on him to
be able to avoid this bad injury luck. If we're
talking just pure player stuff, I do actually prefer Pat Bryant.
I don't know if this is going to be his year.
I don't know if this is gonna be Franklin's year.
There might not be a third wide receiver, especially if
they really try to get the tight end more involved.
(32:09):
This year they drafted justin jolly, I don't know if
he's gonna, you know, get in there over Evan Ingram
or anything like that. I think you're right, there's some
diamond to be found with whoever that third target is.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
I'm just not sure who it's gonna be.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
Yeah. Actually, the more I'm looking at it, the more
I like that if you can develop a stand like
and I don't know the answer, but Franklin and Braun
are both pretty much going undrafted outside of pick twoin fifteen.
They're right next to each other because again the market
doesn't really know. So let's get out of here on
that note, No cass is a lodder room. When you
find that little bit of uncertainty and take a stand,
(32:45):
that's where the value is. So all right, that'll do it. Well,
set everybody soon. We'll get you next weekend. Thanks for
tuning in with some more news and notes and another
fresh topic. But John and Jake have a very weekend
that
