Speaker 1 (00:01):
Time now for Fantasy Football Weekly from my Heart Radio,
your weekly source.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
For the nation's best fantasy speculation and advice. A ride,
well's up, and welcome back everybody. It's Fantasy Football Weekly
with your host, friend and faithful narrator, John mcgaza, your
friend of mine, mister Jake Trowbridge. Jakie, it is ABD season.
Always be drafting, my friend, it is awesome. Well gosh,

(00:30):
and really enjoying the show and having so much to
process with all the moving pieces news, injuries, camp, those
preseason games. Man, what was happening so slowly right the
snowflakes were falling has turned into the avalanche ready to pour.
How you doing, my friend?

Speaker 3 (00:47):
I mean, I'm doing fine.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Can we ask how all of the other NFL players
they are doing right now?

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Can we get a roll call? Is everybody good? Is
everybody healthy? John?

Speaker 1 (00:58):
I'm a big scary movie fan. I like a good
horror movie. I enjoy being scared like that. I haven't
found a recent horror movie that can live up to
logging on to social media and seeing what is happening to.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Our favorite players right now. It is an outright blood
bath out there.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Yeah, it feels like we do this every year, and
then also every year, I'm like, except this year it
really is like that. Right, every year it feels like
there's more injuries than before, except this time it really
does feel that way. Impactful fantasy stars are going down.
We're all waiting with bead breath, with open draft rooms.

(01:37):
A lot of us slow drafts, best bull drafts are
going on. I'm in re draft leagues. You know you're
in a couple also, And I've never really been that guy,
from like a moral standpoint, letting my clock bleed out
to wait for news. This is that one time of
year we're sitting on the slow clock, could really see
you a lot. We're gonna get into some of the

(01:58):
news and notes. But what do you think the injury landscape? Yes,
I get it's going on, and we're all like kind
of driving ourselves nuts right now. Yeah, is it just
living in the moment that we think this year is
worse to do you actually think it is?

Speaker 1 (02:09):
It's probably a little bit of the fact that we
get so much more news. Like I think a few
years ago, some of this stuff, if it wasn't immediately serious,
we just didn't know about it or didn't care about
it right away. But now it's everything is flashing in
front of your face all the time with a big
warning sign. So I mean it's probably a little bit
of that, but you know, you can only see so

(02:31):
many growing injuries pop up on your timeline and not
freak out.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Are the growings okay? John? Are we okay?

Speaker 2 (02:40):
What's the plural of groid? Great? Is it groins? One growing?
Two groins?

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Now the grind?

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Now to your point, back on track, it is true.
Right in this ubiquitous age of information, I think we
get exposed to more info than we normally would have,
and you and I are very locked in to the
d As soon as a note happens, I put it
to make sure we won't skip it. But some of them,
like you mentioned, get rectified ten minutes later player X

(03:08):
left the field. If they're getting hit in the thigh,
ten minutes later, it's you know, player X is back
on the field. But that didn't stop a thousand accounts
on social like you mentioned from Total Doom, saying it's over,
change your boards, move your ranks right now, just the
last thing before we dive into it. I'm trying to
wait until I get definitive news similar to what we're

(03:28):
doing on the show, waiting to cover something until it's definitive,
and I'm actually moving players in my ranks. Do you
think that's safe? And do you think I should be
a little more reactive? No?

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Reactive is one thing.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Over reactive, I think is where we often cross over
the line with this stuff. And yeah, you're moving guys
down or off your draft board when you don't really
know what's about to happen. I get playing it safe,
but that's often a different way to lose in your drafts.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
I think, all right, let's get into some of these
news and notes. First up, it's my New York Jets
and bree Hall, who had been going in the third.
I've had breeze Hale as a second round pick. He's
on a good majority of my teens. Right now, we
mentioned the groin. They're saying his groin injury is confirmed
to be weeks and not months, as if that's supposed

(04:14):
to make us feel a lot better. I'm still open
to drafting Hole because I think Gino will normalize. I
think they're gonna be a lot better than the public thinks.
Running backs are hard to find. So if Hole is
getting to the end of the third, early fourth, I
think I'm still going there. I think I'm now passing
on him early third for let's say z A. Flowers,
even Trey McBride, depending on the room. I'm also pushing

(04:37):
up Brail and Allen, who looks like maybe he's more
of a direct handcuff that I thought, what do you
think about the Jets room?

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Yeah, I think there was a time very recently where
bres Hall versus Derrick Henry was a real point of
contention for me if I was taking a running back
around that range. Now it's like, well, Derrick Henry gets
the obvious sort of win out of this just by
the virtue of not having a hurt growing at the moment.
So I think taking Breshall in the fourth makes a

(05:06):
lot of sense. It's I don't know what the reinjury
rates are for a growing injuries.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Again, we're not.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Doctors here, but it does feel like if they're saying
a few weeks and if you're okay with the first
couple of weeks of your season potentially being slow for
a Breshall, meaning he's not going to come out and
give you fifteen to twenty five fantasy points immediately, then
go for it. But if you're one of those people
who needs to have your week one lineup set and forget,

(05:33):
that might be a guy that I would still be downplaying.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Yeah, it's really rough. I'm very much an injury pessimist,
but I have found that pendulum can swing a little
too far. Where in years past I've maybe scratched off
a brist hole for news like this. They're saying could
be a couple of weeks. That would still give him
a couple of weeks before the season. He's familiar with
the book, the playbook, and the team, so there was

(05:57):
a chance that he hits the ground running, and it's
still fun keeping him. I'm keeping the line on for him.
I think it'll be fun next up. I have a
huge amount of gratitude for you. Right, I've always been
very clear I'm not a prospector. You were warning us
about the Saints wide receiver Jordan Tyson. He's now falling
down to the wide receiver thirty eight EIGHTYP ninety five.

(06:17):
You would probably expect the ball. He's expected to miss
at least two months with a hamstring injury. You mentioned
the trepidation with the repeated you know that same injury
repeating itself with the reaggravation rates. Now that's kind of manifested.
I don't know, man, I was already drafting de von
Vley very very late. It would have to be redraft

(06:40):
nineteenth or twenty three on the best ball, but now
that could be viable. Also on giving Juwan Johnson a boost,
I don't know when we're gonna see Tyson. It could
be quite a long time this one. I may be
scratching off my board and maybe in redraft if you
have an IR spot, he's an interesting stash and if not,
maybe come like week six, we're looking to add him.
But I don't think I'm looking to use up a

(07:02):
viable roster spot with Jordan Tyson.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Yeah, it's a bummer.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
And by the way, producer Robbie coming in with the applause,
that would be very clear. That was about my you know,
prospect work on Jordan Tyson. Not celebrating the injury to
Jordan Tyson. Very clear about that. But it almost hurts
me more because John I was just finally starting to
turn a corner with Jordan Tyson, going like Okay, I

(07:26):
mean he's been at camp and he has been looking
really good, and knock on wood, there hasn't been any
flare ups with this injury. I was just starting to
get interested in Jordan Tyson and then the rug gets
pulled out. I think you make a salient point about
if you're comfortable stashing a guy on IR if you
have that capability in your league. The upside is still

(07:48):
massive for Jordan Tyson whenever he gets back. I personally
am not bumping up the rest of the guys too much.
I'm doing just a little bit of a copy and
paste from last year in terms of Juwan Johnson, who
did not have Jordan Tyson to compete with back then,
was still pretty up and down for my taste for
a tight end. But you're getting him very late. Bryce

(08:09):
Lance is a little bit interesting. I guess another rookie
who had some hype coming in obviously drafted much much
later than Jordan Tyson by the Saints. I think it's
just Chris o'lave. It's once again his world. So if
you had any qualms about drafting him at his current ADP,
I think that has to vanish.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Yeah, I've been pretty much aggressively drafting a lobby as
well as far as Tyson goes, like Bobby Sherman would say,
deep cut, there easy comings and go. Saints do have
a week eight bye, and I think that's something we
do have to eyeball when it comes to these longer
term injury timelines that I know it's a little bit
beyond two months, but that feels like, especially with the

(08:52):
kind of whole rookie thing post bump rookie bye world
used to, maybe that feels like a time that might
be right. So again, that's a pretty far ways off,
but yes, I would like to stress that ir thing again,
there is gonna be a spot in home leagues where
you would absolutely take a Jordan Tyson over whatever is
left and you just draft him and stash him and

(09:13):
you get like a free week zero AD. I'm always
down for that. I think that's a really good way
about it. Next one another rookie wide receiver, this time
just a smidge of good news. We don't want to
be too optimistic now Eagles wide receiver Makai Lemon wide
receiver forty five EDP one eleven is when I started
getting interested again. He's now practicing for the first time
in week's twentieth overall pick in full pads for Thursday's

(09:37):
practice and is expected, you know, to kind of be fine.
So right now I am trying to buy this with
two hands until I believe the price will normalize back
to where it was in probably like the elite eighties
of the early nineties. So for me, Lemon is a smash.
I'm starting to get a little bit worried. Not too
much camp news, but the Eagles offense is not great.

(09:59):
Maybe that's to be e with all the turnover going on,
but I don't know where were you on, mister Lemon.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Well, I mean, this is a new offense.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Just to elaborate on that, this is a brand new offense,
not just because AJ Brown is gone, but because they
have Sean Mannion coming in. There's a lot that is
going to look awkward. I think that's just natural for
new offenses. I don't trust the offenses that are brand
new that look too good out of the gate. I'm
always suspicious of what they're holding back, maybe on defense

(10:29):
or in terms of play calling or whatever. With all
that said, lemonheads rise up. Kayle Lemon, somebody who I've
loved coming into and after the draft, especially in Dynasty the.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Universe of Jordan Tyson.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
I was so into McKay lemon all off season, and
then the amount of concern over the injury had me
concerned because the team felt concerned, and so I was
just starting to back off of McKay lemon. I will
slowly turn my shit back around. I'm not going to
chase some two up the draft board still because again,

(11:03):
reinjury rates scare me a little bit with a guy
like mckaye lemon. But still DeVante Smith season for sure,
still investing in this offense overall. Jalen Hurt's still one
of my favorite quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Matthew Berry's Roanna died, DeVante Smith. I submitted Colston Lovely
and I made the finals, but we didn't get across
the finish line. Regardless, I am flak planting as if
I had eleventh toe, it would be down all right.
Next piece o ward to Speaking of the Bears, if
I was a better host, I would have picked up
on that subway. It's Bears running back Kyle mn Nungui.

(11:37):
He was rby thirty five adp. Ninety four in like
a section of the drift where I'm just completely ignoring
all the running backs I'm now completely capitulated with the
sheep Jake. I'm taking all my running backs early and
then taking the rest of them late, and that just
kind of is what it is. I don't like the middle.
Now to young guy, I think he now makes DeAndre

(11:58):
Swift a little more interesting. I'll admit I was really
not drafting Swift. He was right on the bubble of
guys where I'm like, maybe I want to, maybe I don't.
I think I was choosing other people in front of him. Now,
I think we have to go with Swift, right if
you're into the Bears offense and what we think we're
gonna get. You know, year two, Caleb Swift just didn't

(12:20):
really pop up the page, but you got some consistency.
You know. He had fourteen carries per game. He did
go over one thousand yards in the ground four point
nine per attempt. My worry was more he didn't get
a lower a lot of yards after contact. The explosive
rush rate was okay, but not great. He was very
good at avoiding those negative runs that we like. But

(12:42):
you're pretty much gonna be the only game in town.
There's gotta be a spot for DeAndre Swift. I was
like squinting with the microscope out Britton Brown, Roshawn Johnson
sound like the next guy's up radio people. Jake's shaking
his head. No, if I could speak more clearly, I'd
be doing the same. I've drafted Road in the past,
and that's been a huge nothing burger.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
So I won't be fooled again.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Right So DeAndre Yeah, I mean DeAndre Swift was a
guy that I didn't love. The only piece of the
Bears offense that I loved like you is the tight
end Colston Lovelin. Everybody else gave me some pause, even
Luther Burden, who people were tripping over themselves to draft.
Loveland was the focal point. DeAndre Swift. He wasn't off
of my draft boards, but it was like a guy

(13:30):
where the start of the running back dead zone kind
of felt like maybe it began with DeAndre Swift. Now
I look at it like DeAndre Swift versus David Montgomery
was one of those questions, at least back when I
was drafting.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
I don't know where their ADP's are right now, but
it fell.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
How did you coin flip that? Now? I'm sorry, how
would you would you go Swift over Montgomery. Is that
where you were in the first.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Oh absolutely, It wasn't where I was in the first place.
And the first place that felt like those guys were
a coin flip. Now it feels like, yeah, absolutely, give
me DeAndre Swift over David Montgomery. That's a little bit
maybe more of my ambivalence towards Montgomery than my outright
love for DeAndre Swift. But you can't argue with somebody
who again is only fighting with Roshawn Johnson. Now Ajie

(14:13):
Harris got picked up. They're not gonna the Bears aren't
gonna sign you know, a veteran backup that's quality.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
So I'm into it.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
Yeah, I'm wonder now you know, we're getting old the
James Connor stuff again again, nausey. Maybe we'll tackle that
again what that means for Skatabow in another episode. I'm
curious to see how the market responds to me. I
wasn't overreacting, but we could do that another time. Man,
as far as the Bears go, I think you're right.
Really sorry to step on you before. I wanted to
get out that kind of selfish one v one. That's

(14:42):
exactly the rankings move that I meet was now I
have Swift in front of Montgomery, who I still think,
you know, has a place this year, but he feels
kind of dead zony to me a little bit. And
then also, Houston just lost Higgins. I actually forgot that. Know,
if you want to cover that really quick, that just

(15:03):
could kind of trickle downstream and hurt the entire Texans offense.
While we have Higgins on the brain, they didn't bring
him up. Besides the fact that all those bags I
had packed and now gone. Do you have a quick
take on the Higgins injury for Houston.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
I wasn't drafting Jaden Higgins himself much in fantasy I
have to admit I was hopeful that the whole gang
together would sort of rise the boat for CJ.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
Stroud.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
So if you're in like a two quarterback league and
you were thinking about drafting CJ. Stroud, that just looks
a lot tougher to do right now. I think if
you're still willing to take dart throws at the very
end of your draft, maybe Tank Dell. Maybe it's been
a couple of years since we've seen him, but the
last time that we saw him with Houston, he was incredible.
Is certainly for fantasy purposes. I don't know where he

(15:47):
sits health wise right now, but monitor that if you
haven't drafted already.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Yeah, you know to that point in particular, I guess
maybe you didn't see it. I saw it. I read it,
and I'm trying to digest it. That's why bring it
up today. But there's a one of the most prominent
beat writers for Houston. Say what you want about the
beat writers. He was very, very bold and put out
an entire thread on why he thinks Tank is a

(16:15):
no no. You know that we may not see Tank
Dell at all. Right, he hasn't practiced yet. He's expecting
ir and he he really went to detail because he
got challenged. Oh, beat writers don't know anything. I don't
think he should be doing that. Again. I understand they
may not be experts in projections or fantasy football, but
sometimes the information can be valuable. He really really played
through the flag and was very detailed. But it doesn't

(16:36):
mean he was He's correct, but he made sure to
make his point known. It was well researched, right, and
it's well fought out. So I was really kind of
pumped at the brakes on Tank because you know, he's
a potential breakout player in that spot. We know I
have a huge target vacuum created, so we'll keep it
on Houston. Maybe we'll bring it up all So, I'm
gonna put that on my little whiteboard, all right. I

(16:57):
had one more note, old man Keenan Allen signs with
the Colts. I guess this was kind of telegraphed right there,
some history with Stike and I believe in the past.
I don't know people are now like it seems like
they've projected this Alan signing onto Josh Downs and why
you can't raft him Before I kick it to I
had one really interesting Keenan Allen stat that I wouldn't

(17:20):
have guessed in a million years. Now. We probably think
of him as a possession type guy, which is fine. However,
of the five hundred and ninety seven offensive plays that
Allan was on the field for last year, all but thirteen,
that's ninety eight percent worth three wide receiver sets. So,
but where I'm going with this is people's problem was, Oh, no,

(17:43):
Alan is going to eat up an X roll and
knock any dreams of Downs into wide receiver sets out
of whack. And unless they have a different plan for him.
That doesn't seem to be the case. Again, I know
that's not necessarily predictive, but I think it is really
worth noting he is not a two wide receiver guy
like at all. It just was not even a thing

(18:04):
at all. So down to start a fall and I'm
kind of buying the downs news. I'm not really buying Allen.
So talk this briefly about Keenan Allen and Josh Dailes.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Keenan Allen, by the way, just I think like fifty
receptions or something from hitting number three overall in the.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
History of the NFL in total career catches.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
Got to point that out because you know, a guy
like him wants that, so he's gonna get that, Like
fifty receptions then becomes his floor this season. The question
is can he give you more than that? Like, can
he give you some sort of consistency for fantasy? I
don't personally think so. The point about three wide receiver
sets is very interesting to me. John, and I would

(18:44):
also kind of beg the question though, if Alec Peerce
is out because his injury, I'm not saying that he
will be Alec Pierce. It seems like things will be
on track for him to play. But if something happens
with that injury and there's a setback, is it Josh
Downs and Keenan and two wide receiver sets? Is it
a big emphasizen it? Does Tyler Warren just get everything

(19:07):
at that point. One thing I do want to say,
though people have been knocking Tyler Warren as well because
of this signing, knocking him down a little bit, I'm
not I still love Tyler Warren. I don't see a
world where he eats into something that Tyler Warren was
gonna get. Warren was playing with Michael Pittman last year
and healthy Alec Pierce, so I don't think that this

(19:27):
necessarily is worse for.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
Him than that. But yeah, I'm not drafting Keenan too heavily.
Maybe in the last couple of rounds if he's there,
I'll dabble.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
Yeah, I think that's fair. I think the ceiling is
very low, and I do you agree kind of archetypically,
it probably doesn't fit because it was just a lot
of redundancy. Now we think of Warren wins close to
the line, Josh Downs wins close to the line, that
you're bringing Keenan Allen to win close to the line.
To me, this seems very telegraphed in he's canoe run

(19:59):
a hook route one yard beyond the sticks on third downs. Like,
to me, that feels like exactly what it's gonna be.
I don't think he's gonna stretch the field. I don't
think they're gonna get very great with him. I think
he's gonna come out to win in a tight spot
against somebody he's probably bigger than and he's still got
good hands and knows how to win in kind of
tight spaces. So to me, it's low ceiling. Maybe it

(20:19):
don't even boost the entire offense. All right, that was
pretty cool. That was the news and not its kind
of a mouthful or two right there. Let me shuffle
a paper, take a quick breath, and let's get into
Oh I forgot, we're gonna do perplexing players when we
get back in a second. All right, and we're back, Jacobs.
Funny you asked me, I don't know what to call
for bexting players or a draft lemmas, So that's what

(20:41):
I wrote down. That's what we're covering. I used to
go with like chin scratchers sometimes when I cover baseball,
it's in a cool a game with Chin Scratcher. After
a few we've heard enough out of me in this way.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
We are alliterative on this podcast. Yeah, we alliterate with
the best of them.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
Yeah. You know. I actually took a New York Times
writing class league. They warned me about that, not to
be too illibative. So I've been trying to. I've been
actually pulling back a boy, you know, Peter Piper pickle
pepper references. All Right, I can't believe I got that
one out live on air. All Right, talk to us
about Jalen Wattle and why you're confused because he's back
practicing and I'm not so confused.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
Talk to this well, I hope that you can unconfuse me, John,
because I do think the point of these guys that
we're talking about, you and I, we have a lot
of very strong takes, particularly about specific players. These are
not those players where I fall on one side of
the fence or the other.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
If this was the hokey poke.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
John, my hand would not be in nor would it
be out it, I guess would be shaking all about
as the song goes. But with Jalen Wattle, if you
can convince me that where he's going right now in
full PPR ADP, which is he's the nineteenth receiver off
the board, he's forty third overall, so he's going in
the fourth round. If you can convince me that without

(21:59):
a doubt, Jalen wat is the true wide receiver one
for the Broncos, I will cave and I will draft him.
But the fact that I see Courtland Sutton sitting all
the way down at wide receiver thirty eight ninety ninth
overall makes this a little tougher for me to wrap
my head around. It's a big, big gap, and Courtland

(22:22):
Sutton is coming off one thousand yards seven touchdowns last year.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
He has a rapport with bow Knicks. Wattle's new to
the offense.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
Wattle hasn't had a thousand yard season since twenty twenty three.
I've been saying that ideally at the spot where Wattle
is in my drafts, I want to get two of
Zay Flowers, Mecca a Buca, and Garrett Wilson through those rounds.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
That's what I would love.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
But if they're not there, and our guy, Colson Loveland
is also gone around this time, then I look at
Wattle and I think, huh, he could reach.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
The heights of his early career.

Speaker 1 (22:59):
He started off wide receiver thirteen, wide receiver eight and
full PPR those first couple of seasons. And if bow
Knicks throws the ball six hundred times again like he
did last year, then him and Sutton could eat as long.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
As the other wide receivers don't get in the mix
too much.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
We've got a Troy Franklin, We've got a Pat Bryant,
We've got all these guys that Sean Payton just really
really wants to be a thing still. But if Nick's
coming off that ankle injury, you know, won't take off
as much running as he did last year, then I
see Wattle being able to produce based on his ADP.
But it's I don't know, John, It's scary that get

(23:38):
get the fear out of me.

Speaker 3 (23:40):
What am I missing?

Speaker 2 (23:41):
Oh Man, I don't know. If I'm tasked with declaring
in the clear number one, I don't know if that's
the case. I think the hope is, as you mentioned,
the pie is big enough for more than one person. Now,
I do think he should be in the lead for volume.
I think Sutton has more of a clearly defined role
he'll be looking upon to win outside, something he's very

(24:02):
good at. Okay, so you mentioned the past five and
one I think would be all the draft capital giving
up first of all, Right, so Peyton very clear, he's
been talking about this for years, right. He loved these
kind of joker players, these underneath kind of versatile weapons
that he can move all around the formation. The Broncos
gave up a first rounder, a third and a fourth.

(24:25):
That's a thirty at ninety four and a one thirty.
That's a lot of draft capital. And we've seen production
night last year was it was good, not great, but
it was still good. Three top ten finishes, one top
five finish. The underpinning stuff that we love so oh
very much was very very strong. He scored a half
of a fantasy point per route, which is all you
could ask for it, right, It's an ace right there.

(24:46):
Twenty five percent target per route, two win a quarter
yards per route, and under nine routes per first down
are all really kind of elite numbers. I think we
know that he could win out of the slot, but
that's really not all that he did. And he's good
against man end zone. He had very good success rates
against both at least fourteen and a half percent success

(25:08):
rate against both man and zone, but twenty two percent
of his plays went for twenty yards and eighteen percent
of his targets were downfield targets. So I think that's
a little bit and not that you said it, because
I'm speaking more to the general public that he's just
underneath guy. He's kind of slotty, and a slot merchant
is kind of the word now, and I don't know
if that's the case. You know, Denver again was top

(25:30):
five and plays run and they were six in dropbacks
per game, so there could be a lot of volume
with Wattle is just the versatile weapon, really the guy
looked upon to not just move the chains, but maybe
win in post routes, intermediate routes with Sutton kind of
doing the clear out thing. I think all of your
points are really strong. I think we would need Wattle

(25:54):
to take a step off. The only pushback I would
have is the pricing there between people having doubts like
yourself and the injury. He's firmly at the end of
that entire tier. He's really further back near Loveland that
anywhere near at Buca or Garrett Wilson or any of
those guys. Zay Flowers now more at like the beginning
of the third Wattles, making him like the middle of

(26:14):
the fourth. So that's where I think I have him
is at the very end of that wide receiver tier.
If I prioritize running backs, he could still be your
wide receiver two or three, where I think that's a
perfect pick. I am taking those other names that you
mentioned before him, though, I think that's a really good quot.
My first chin scratcher is a bit less exciting, but

(26:36):
it's a player that I was on that I've kind
of gotten away from, and I think it's important for
us as analyst to one to be clear about that.
But Tuna, you know, pull the curtain. It's for Sean White.
I thought he was the best runner and pass catcher,
and now I'm not so sure. The drum beat for
Bill Krossky Merritt is really picking up. And if they've
if he's taken the step forward in pass blocking, and

(26:59):
that's been the word because that was the hang up.
If that's been the case, you could see Rashawd White
getting supplanted. And if he's just a third down guy,
third and long guy that might not be great, and
JCM might be back to roster. In Washington, I'm kind
of getting away from Rashad White. Do you have a
strong take on Washington at all? It's very tough this

(27:20):
year you kind of need I'm not saying you have
to have a take on Washington, but those middle to
laid a round backs, there's gonna be a hit somewhere,
and we got to try and find it.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
Yeah, and it's nice that they're all being drafted so late.
You're not the risk of going I'm gonna grab one
of these guys is barely a risk because if they
don't pan out, if you grab the wrong one, or
if there's not a right one to have in this
backfield because they all split too much. So what you know,

(27:49):
you spent a tenth round pick or eleventh round pick
or whatever these guys are going at right now, it's
too late to really care about. But it's much easier
to get a win out of these messy backfields. So
if you want to plant on Jacorey Krosky merit, that's fine.
If you want to plant still on Rashad White because
you think he is still the best pass catcher. They

(28:11):
will still utilize him a lot as a dump off machine.
I don't know that that's true, but if that's your thought,
go for him. I don't have a strong enough opinion
on Rashad White to be like, I'm not clicking him, But.

Speaker 3 (28:26):
If you are a zero R B or A do
the opposite.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
As fans of this show know, then you know, go
try Rashad White and see if he'll get six targets
a game.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
Yeah, I hate to leave people without an option. Where
I've gotten away from White and I'm still not sold
on JCM. I've pushed Jordan Mason into that spot. He's
very similarly priced. I think you know, he's the more
explosive back in an offense where looking again to take
a pretty big step forward. This is just the JJ
McCarthy sunk the entire organization into like the ninth circle

(29:02):
of Dante's Hell, and that any kind of return to
even average or below average, that Rose and Todd should
lift the bull ship. So I've been going with Meson
again at the price you don't need to be that confident,
like you mentioned, but that could be a hit. But yeah,
I'm not really drafting White right now. And he's not
really falling. So if my doubt is growing and his

(29:23):
price isn't changing, I find it getting away from it,
all right, Your second player is another guy. This is
interesting because this is a player, one of the very
few players I've come around to the bullesh side on
talk to us about DJ Moore.

Speaker 1 (29:35):
Well, my question all off season after DJ Moore got
signed was are we going to get Stefan Diggs in
Buffalo or are we going to get something closer to
Amari Cooper in Buffalo?

Speaker 3 (29:49):
Which was a complete unfettered disaster.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
Now obviously big asterisk Amari Cooper resigned halfway through the season.
That's not the exact same situation as DJ Moore, obviously,
But I still don't know which side of that spectrum
I want to air on with DJ Moore, because, look,
I don't buy into the hole dj Moore gave up
on the Bears last season narrative. I don't buy into that.

(30:13):
But I do think that there was something very off
because DJ Moore had just as many games with fewer
than twenty yards as he did games of fifty yards
or more. There was a game where this man got
four targets and zero yards. There was another game where
he got three targets and had negative four yards. As

(30:38):
much as I want to blame Caleb Williams for all
of this because of his god awful accuracy, or at
least the accuracy during the regular boring old throws, I
think it was on both of them. I think it
was also on DJ Moore. So will Josh Allen be
able to completely wipe all that away? Will he even

(30:58):
treat DJ Moore as the bona fide wide receiver one,
which is what he did with digs?

Speaker 3 (31:03):
And even if he.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
Does, will that be alone enough to get Dj Moore
a top twenty four finish if the offense stays is
run heavy, as it's been during Joe Brady's tenure you know,
when he was offensive coordinator. Now, of course he's the
head coach, but Buffalo has been seventh from the bottom
of the league in pass played percentage over the last
three years with Joe Brady in house. So the good

(31:27):
news is that, unlike Waddle, you're still getting more you
know later, I think like a round and a half
later as of right now.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
So he's again not quite as risky. But on the
other hand, you do have to draft Dj Moore over.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
Guys like Jamison Williams and Christian Watson, and you have
to pass up cheak code quarterbacks like Jane Daniels and
Jalen Hurts.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
And I don't know that I really want to do.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
That, John Man, you totally nailed it right. You only
take flack when you're over the target. Gosh. Yeah, it's
not saying my pushback to you, because I think I
was fully in line with you. I was not drafting
More at all. And not to say I was overly
swede by a preseason game. I don't really care about that.
It was something that was mentioned on a Bills broadcast

(32:15):
that one of my favorite analysts brought up, and it
was he was talking about styles make fights, right, that
kind of famous boxing adage, and I want to think it's,
you know, time tested for a reason, but it was
that More struggled with the Bears because that offense is
very much time oriented. Everything is time and time and timing.

(32:36):
More is more of a freestyle kind of player, and
that would mesh pretty well with Josh Allen's hair on
fire hero ball, breaking down defenders, throwing it off your
back foot with three people hang on you, but still
managing to throw a dot, you know, forty yards downfield
right on the numbers. And then we kind of saw

(32:58):
that in the preseason game. It was like, oh man,
this is exactly what I was being warned about. When
I fade him, I'm on the fence. My biggest issue,
even if I believe all that of the memes that
you mentioned, I'm really struggling to take him over again. Watson,
you mentioned Williams. I like Mike Evans if he could
defeat the substation there. This is all part of the

(33:21):
early running back discussion. There's so many great receivers in
the fifties and the sixties, right before we're even thinking
about quarterbacks. Yet at that point, none of the quarterbacks
have gone off the board. We're still locked in on
the skill position guys. So I'm trying to open up
my horizons to more and I think that's how it succeeds.
So I've worked him in a little bit. But yeah,

(33:41):
I'm still struggling with the one v one. But at
the very least where it was a player that I
was telling myself Dusty maybe washed could be a zero
is now he's at least Jake moved into the bin
of players that though I'm fading, I'm worried they could
burn me. Would you agree with the last part?

Speaker 1 (33:58):
Oh, I'm always worried these guys that I fade are
gonna burn me. And that's why it's a question in
send off an outright like stay away from this guy,
because I have those players where I.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
Do say stay away.

Speaker 1 (34:09):
But if you're right, if this is just a fighting
style change that reinvigorates him, you know, I guess he'd
be going from I don't know what I'll lead to, Tyson.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
I hate to compare Calabulumes to anybody of that.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
Of that height and stature, but if that is the
change that runlocks him, then yeah.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
I'm gonna feel like a dummy if I pass him up.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
You have more also to that as well. Get one
more troubleful of dirt for Kleb And it was very
few wide receivers had more unrealized air yards and more
last year. Very few wide receivers had a higher uncatchable
or like off target you know, rate when targeted than
more so, not to make excuses for him, but maybe

(34:49):
there is a little juice left and needed. The stylistics
do work, so I'm just ready for him, and you
mean it, put it perfect. I should say that he
does need to finish as a wide receiver. Two, he's
going off the board as a wide receiver twenty five.
You know wide receivers are going early. So again, the
one v ones are really difficult, all right, Last, but
certainly not least l Ray, it's the King Dereck Henry,

(35:13):
who if you ever finally sleeping under the overpasses Because
I just can't stop fading Derrick Henry, I wrote down
two words father time, Yeah, eventually, right, and I just
refuse to give in. Well, I guess this one have
refused to give it period, But I refuse to give
into a world where more NFL carries make you healthier, right,

(35:35):
That is not a universe or a plane of reality
that I exist in. So I just think I'd always
rather be off one year early than hang on one
year too late, because the price is so high. That said,
running back's very tough to find, especially if you have
the three or the four. Henry may be the last choice.
And if you don't like Whole because he's hurt and

(35:56):
you don't like Jeremi, I love because he's banged up.
Now you're a zero guy. You might not have wanted
to be, So I don't know, can you convince me
to take Henry? I shouldn't need convincing. It's just all
I have is the age. He's like the best player ever.
But should I just be drafting it? Take my medicine?

Speaker 3 (36:12):
I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
John.

Speaker 1 (36:13):
The only argument that I have against it because it
you can't ignore it.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
You can't ignore the age.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
But the only argument that I have is that we've
been doubting Derrick Henry because of his age for what
three years, four years, I don't know. It felt like, yeah,
we're like, well, this guy can't keep this up.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
It's the Tom Brady argument. But for running backs, like.

Speaker 1 (36:35):
Well, you can't keep doing it and doing it at
a high level. It just doesn't make sense. But sometimes
a guy just takes the Captain America super serum and
you just have to ride that rail, you know, you
just have to latch on to the jersey and hope
that he pulls you across to another top six running
back finish, which I mean it's possible.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
Yeah, I get. I mean, I guess if I've been
telling myself the story that we're not even getting enough
of a discount. Okay, so put yourself in the you
know plane of the multiverse where Derek Henry is only
twenty eight instead of.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
Thirty two and a half or whatever it is done.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
Isn't that where he goes? I think he still goes
to the same spot because he doesn't catch the ball
at all. And now this is this is definitely the
part I'm off of. If people are telling me he's superhuman,
I'm more willing to believe he's superhuman. Then he's gonna
catch you know, fifty balls or something. You shure. I
just don't think that's in the cards. I think I
don't like to spend the second round pick on a

(37:40):
running back that can get games scripted out completely. And
we've seen this happen. This is not a would not
be a new thing. So put him together. What he
got vivid Bobby Boop is me kind of feeding Derrick
Henry again against all my better judgments. And you know,
I love the spreadsheet. Everything in the spreadsheet is screaming
this guy is still as good or better right than

(38:01):
almost anyone. He had three point six yards after contact
per attempt, five point two per attempt. He still had
a ten percent explosive rush rate, and he faced eight
man boxes almost fifty two percent of the time. He
was awesome. He gets all the goal line stuff right
because Lamar, as much as he runs, Lamar's running touchdowns
come from like thirty five yards out that don't come

(38:22):
from right near the goal line. You give it to
old reliable if anyone was going to score twenty touchdowns, right,
He's on the shortest list of players to do it.
And then I'm still having trouble getting there. So what
about yourself? I maybe I missed it. Where are you?
Are you clicking the button for Henry? Are you? Are
you past that?

Speaker 1 (38:39):
I was just doing a doc draft with Chris Harris
the other day actually, and this came up, and it
was Derrick Henry versus Brest Hall at the I think
it was the end of the third round. I want
to say, is where it was? And yeah, I was
fine with it because again, I just feel like we
can make the cognitive, good statistical argument for this, but

(39:01):
Dereck Henry just keeps punches, punching us, punching us in
the face over it. So I just I'm tired of
getting punched in the face. John and I just want
to cower to Derrick Henry and his awesome talent. And yeah,
he doesn't catch passes. He hasn't caught passes, and yet
he's continued to shine as a fantasy asset more often

(39:21):
than not. So it's just like how many times do
you roll the dice and when does it finally come
up snake eyes. I guess if it does for me
this time, so be it. I'll deal with it. But
I do think you used to have to draft Derrick
Henry at least at like the middle of the second round,
so it is a little bit of a discount.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
Yeah. Also, well, speaking of discount, you're talking end of third.
My assumption had been the rooms I've been in, which
is end of second. That's a pretty big difference. Now
I've been drafting running backs early, so if I'm near
the wheel, maybe I don't know. If I could pass
me as my RB three, I think i'd have to
take him. I think Derek Henry end of the third

(40:01):
is a smash pack. If he's your flex play, I
think that's a total smash show for me. Yeah, it's
a it's a price to him and thing I would
have taken whole before. Henry for the pass catching stuff,
though I understand the touchdown equity might totally make that
a wash. But yet I'm over here doing the same
thing over and over yet looking for a different result.
I think they have a word for that, Jake, It's insanity. Well,

(40:24):
this is easily the fastest half an hour, right. We
thank you so much, Jake for good time man. I
absolutely love doing these, the news and notes, a little
fantasy stuff. We'll be back next week. Thank you everybody
for this is listening to the show, appreciate it. Hit
