We're gone win again, according to your host David Sinecon.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Will win on the road, We'll win at home, but
Willie then win in the US Bank Stadium. Wegs fans
can call it.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
You've got the balls the Packers Preview Show.
Speaker 4 (00:29):
Welcome to year thirty of Packer Preview on the Fan,
now live from the KFA and studios the head cheese
himself Dave Sinecon.
Speaker 5 (00:42):
Good morning, Packer fans, and welcome to the week fourteen
edition of Packer Preview on the Sports Leader and the
home of the Vikings KFA N I am Dave Sinekon.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Great to be with you.
Speaker 5 (00:53):
It's Bears week, It's December, and this game matters.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
All is right with the world.
Speaker 5 (00:59):
I gotta be very transparent as we begin this program,
what seven and a half hours from kickoff at lambeau Field. Normally,
the week leading up to a game like this with
the NFC North on the line, I would have been
obsessing NonStop over this game over the last week or so.
But you know, I've been split because there was a
big game last night as well. For my alma mater,
(01:21):
the school where I'm paying tuition for two kids over
the last four or five years. So the Indiana Ohio
State Big Ten championship games, but mind as well, and
I still cannot process what I've seen and where we
are in the world of college football. As the College
Football Playoff is announced tonight, the Big Ten champion Indiana
(01:43):
Hoosiers will be the number one seed in the country.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
I just I have goosebumps as I say it.
Speaker 5 (01:49):
I never, in my wildest dreams, thought I'd ever see
such a day, and it's very hard for me not
to have the biggest smile I've had in quite some time.
It was an all time day for Indiana fans, starting
out with number one Perdue suffering the worst loss ever
at home by a number one team in the country,
the hated rivals, speaking of hated rivals, and then knocking
(02:11):
off Ohio State last night with their Heisman Trophy winning
quarterback to be Fernando Mendoza. So I've been split for
the last week, but now it's Sunday morning, the big
game is hours away, and my focus is completely switched.
I think to Packers Bears, the eight to three and
(02:31):
one pack against the first place.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Number one seed in the NFC.
Speaker 5 (02:35):
Speaking of things, you never thought you'd see the Chicago
Bears sitting atop the NFC at nine to three.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
So much on the line.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
Today, even though these teams will meet again thirteen days
from now. The Bears enter Lambeau this afternoon as the
top seed in the NFC. Should they lose this game,
they will walk off the field as the number seven
seed in the NFC. Again, knowing that these two teams
will meet again thirteen days from now on a Saturday
night at Soldier Field. It's the what I didn't do
(03:04):
the math in my head, two hundred and eleventh meeting
between these two teams, going back one hundred and four years.
I've said a long time that growing up, I never
thought the Packers wouldever catch the Bears in the series.
It seemed like a mountain two too tall to climb.
But Green Bay now leads one to eight ninety six
with six ties. Since Brett Favre became quarterback, the Pack
is fifty one and sixteen against the Chicago Bears, and
(03:27):
as you know, Matt Lafleur is eleven and one against
the Bears.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
The one coming in week eighteen.
Speaker 5 (03:32):
A year ago, the game Love got knocked out in
the second quarter and the Bears walk it off with
a field goal at the end. Both games so tight,
both games decided by either field goals or block field goals.
A year ago. It's the third time in series history
that these teams meet both sporting winning percentages of seven
hundred or better twelve games or later into the season.
(03:55):
In one hundred and four seasons of this rivalry, it's
just the third time. And I'll tell you what, it's
much as I hate the Bears, it's something somewhat soothing
when these two teams are both good. It just never
happens that both these teams are great. You know, I've
been so fortunate to be at both stadiums when the
Packers won the Super Bowls with Farv and Rogers, and
(04:18):
those two memories are as good as it gets for
me right there in the mix. Though, you know, those
two are joined for me by the twenty ten championship
game at Soldier Field, when the Packers knocked off the
Bears to advance to that Super Bowl with Rogers, and
doing it in the Bears house surrounded by Bears fans
was a special moment. There's nothing like knocking off the
(04:39):
Chicago Bears, whose fans have gotten very chirpy, very chippy
this week.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
They're feeling very haughty.
Speaker 5 (04:44):
We will actually have one on our program this morning
as a fan of the fan, friend of the fan,
Lavelle E Neil the Third will join us in our
next segment to give his.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Thoughts on the game today, his thoughts.
Speaker 5 (04:56):
On his favorite team, a team that has surprised many
by having a nine and three record. Right, Blake Moore,
as we weave you in on Packer Bear's game day,
I like to ask you this question in big games,
your level of confidence as the Packers take the field
as nearly touchdown favorites against the Bears this afternoon.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Yeah, it's certainly on the plus side. I would say
to step down from confident confidence like we're gonna roll
over them, I'd say it's a step down from that.
I'd say it's optimistic, is how I would describe it.
I think they have a really good shot, the way
that Jordan Love and the offense has been playing. They
just lit up the Lions defense a week ago. You
have an extra day arrest as well, which isn't bad
to have in the tank. It's just whether the defense
(05:36):
can stop the run, and they have done in recent times.
In recent games, Jamier Gibbs was a rumor, Saquon Barkley
a rumor. Unfortunately the offense didn't show up for that game.
So but this running, this running game is legit. And
if they just control the clock, the packer in for
a long day. But I would say I'm optimistic about it.
Speaker 5 (05:54):
Yeah, I'm probably a bit more than optimistic. I'm feeling
fairly confident as we discussed this game over the next hour.
You know the time honored tradition of New Bears coaches
making an impression early when they meet the press and
meet the fans by talking about how much fun they're
going to have beating the Bears.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
It happens all the time.
Speaker 5 (06:12):
Name a coach, whether it's Love Smith, mattet Eberflus, and
the latest Ben Johnson, who when he took the mic
and his opening press conference said, I've kind of enjoyed
beaten Matt Lafleur twice a year. It stokes the fans,
it stokes as players, It sets a tone, and it
was heard loud and clear in Title Town. Matt Lafleur
(06:32):
has deflected it and doesn't say anything too publicly about it,
but Adam stenowitch the OC this week, said, yeah, you
take it personal. And I'm not saying it's locker room stuff.
I'm not saying it's put it on the whiteboard stuff.
But you take any little bit of motivation and would
it means so much to Bear's coaches to make sure
they understand how important it is in Chicago to try
(06:53):
to get on top of the big bully, the Packers.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
It's I don't know, kind of humorous.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
I think from our side of the the ale, it's
an important game whenever the Bears think they have a
chance to be on the same level of the Green
and Gold.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Much more on this matchup.
Speaker 5 (07:09):
Let's talk about the health of these two teams, and
the big story heading into this game is the return
of Jaden Reid finally, who was activated off IR yesterday.
He will make his first appearance since breaking his collar
bone in week two. Remember he also had foot surgery
at the same time. So your guest as good as
mine how much he will play If they've been waiting,
(07:30):
like maybe he was ready last week, but they knew
after Thanksgiving man, you got a few extra days. Let's
just make sure you are ready. What a difference he
will make on this field. This is the Packers leading
receiver the last two years, a man who commands so
much attention over the middle of the field, which can
open things up on the outside for Christian Watson, Dobbs, Wis,
maybe Matthew Golden. The Packers wide receiver room is getting
(07:53):
healthy and getting full because they released Malik Heath yesterday
when they activated Jayden Reid. We'll see if they bring
him back. We'll see if he gets claimed by somebody else.
Heath had some moments over the years with Green Bay,
made some big catches in big spots physical blocker. Remember
he was kept off the team playing a couple of
weeks ago with some kind of issue that might have
spelled doom for him with this organization. We will see.
(08:17):
But having Jaden read back to help out a passing
game that's starting to hum is exciting and I can't
wait to see number eleven on the field today.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Golden. We will see.
Speaker 5 (08:26):
He's questionable with that shoulder, and again we'll know it.
I guesst about two o'clock when the inactives are announced
whether Golden is good to go.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Kay Walker returns today.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
Carl Brooks returns today, much needed reinforcements on the D line.
We know we lost Devonte Wyatt to a fractured ankle
for the season on Thanksgiving. Just a devastating lust for
the defense is the only way to say it. The
defense has looked good the last two or three weeks.
It has looked resurgent. No coincidence the same time DeVante
Wyatt returned to the lineup. He is irreplaceable as a
(08:58):
pass rusher from the middle and forming just a great
duo with Micah Parsons. So Carl Brooks will have a
shot to step in, as will Warren Brinson. Colby Wooden
Packers added two massive nose tackles this week, claiming one
off of waivers Jordan Riley, who will wear Kenny clark
so old number ninety seven. He was claimed off the
(09:19):
Giants practice squad. And then yesterday or was it Friday,
the Packers picked up Quentin Bohanna off waivers from the Seahawks.
Reports this morning that Seattle had planned to resign him
bring him back, but the Packers sniped him on waivers.
Massive human Being six four three point fifty five. Former
draft pick of the Cowboys about four years ago, Packers
will be his fifth team. He's had about thirteen starts,
(09:42):
so he's got a little juice. He's huge and there's
no secret why Green Bay added some beef this week.
They've got the Bears twice, the Ravens coming up, you know,
two of the most run heavy teams in the NFL. Obviously,
if you want to win playoff games in January, you
need to stop the run. And looking ahead to Green
Bay might face in the postseason, whether it's Chicago, maybe Detroit,
(10:04):
maybe San Francisco, Philadelphia, stopping the run is going to
be paramounts. They've added some bodies and some depth to
see if they can get some juice and get better
against the run when the weather turns and the running
game takes more of center stage.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
As far as the.
Speaker 5 (10:20):
Bears go, the big injury for them today is they
will not have probably their best wide receiver, Rome Odunze
ruled out.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
He will miss this game.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
He is a big time factor in the passing game
for Caleb Williams. Yes they have DJ Moore, Yes they
have Zakias, Yes they have a couple of tight ends.
There's still plenty in the cupboard. But they lose their
big play threat, Luthor Burden. Their rookie will get more run.
I think Chicago will run a lot of two tight
end sets today. There's no secret, as Brett said, they
(10:52):
are going to try to run the ball down Green
Bay throat. It worked in Philly on Black Friday. No
reason to try to not see if that can be effective.
Keep the Packers' offense on the sideline. Look I like
many people, and I think I even wrote about it
at zone coverage dot com leading into Thanksgiving week, consider
the Bears a fraudulent eight and three team before Thanksgiving.
Fraudulent because they were negative and the point differential for
(11:16):
the season. They were an eight and three team that
had given up more points than they had scored. It's
tough to take a team seriously when that's the case.
And they had had kind of like the Commanders a
year ago, just a number of fourth quarter magic right
like in Minnesota with the kickoff return in the final
thirty seconds. There's been so many fourth quarter just complete
(11:38):
like what they did what some credits certainly to Caleb Williams.
He's been very good in the fourth quarter. In key moments,
he'll throw a few balls and make you go, what
was that, And then he'll escape the pocket, extend to
play and fire at dart to somebody. We saw it
last year at LAMBO. I actually watched the replay at
NFL Network yesterday of the think a week eleven game
at Soldier Field, the blockfield goal game. You know, Caleb
(12:01):
that last drive, he was on point converting third and
twenty six to keep that drive going. So he will
find some magic in the fourth quarter, and that is
what fueled this Bears winning streak, which is at five
games heading into lambeau Field today. But overall, you look
at the metrics, you look at all the analytics, they're
down to the bottom on defense and offensively. What they've
(12:25):
got right now is a running game. The passing game
is still i'd say below average. The running game though
obviously legit. You run for two hundred and eighty one
yards against the Philadelphia Eagles. That gets my attention, That
gets everybody's attention. Yes, Jalen Carter clearly was playing hurt
last week. He's on I don't know if he's on IR,
but he's out now for the Eagles. He's got a
couple of injuries he's been playing through. I'm not going
(12:47):
to take everything away from Chicago. They still ran it
down the Eagles' throats. But something had to be up
with Philadelphia. That's just something you do not see. That
two headed attack of Manangai and DeAndre Swift have been remarkable.
But this game comes down to one factor, one key statistic.
You all know where I'm going here, right What is
(13:08):
really fueled the Bears nine and three record is the
fact that they are taking the ball away at a
clip unlike anybody else. In the NFL twenty six takeaways,
they are plus seventeen in the giveaway takeaway plus seventeen.
The next best team is plus nine. There's three teams
at plus nine. The Bears have almost doubled that. Green Bay,
on the other side, does not give the ball away.
(13:30):
They've given the ball away the least amount of times
in the NFL, just seven for the season. The status
as clear as it can be. When the Bears get
two or more turnovers, they are eight O. When Green
Bay does not turn the ball over, they are seven
to O. And it's December. It's lambeau Field where Malifleur
is twenty and four in the month of December. The
(13:50):
Packers have been lights out at home in the month
of December, and they typically do not turn the ball
over in the month of December. They take care of
the football today and see there's a way that Green
Bay loses to the Chicago Bears team. Jordan Love talked
about it because you know, you want to sort of
balance you know how conservative you are and worried you
(14:10):
are about the ballhawking secondary of the Bears, coached by
the way by Al Harris, former Packer cornerback great who
is doing an amazing job he did in Dallas last year.
He is coaching those corners and safeties to take the
ball away and they are doing it at a record
pace basically.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
But Jordan Love talked about it because you still want
to take shots downfield.
Speaker 5 (14:32):
You can beat this team. They don't rush the passer
very well. We'll get into all the matchups later, but
Jordan Love knows that you know, the key today is
not turning the ball over.
Speaker 6 (14:41):
Yeah, It's something that you know we've we've harped on
all season, is we got to go out there and
do a great job just protecting the ball and that's everybody.
It's me, the receivers, the running Backsy, anybody that's carrying
the ball. And like you said, they're number one in
the league at Creighton turnovers and getting interceptions.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
So you know, I think it just they do a
good job.
Speaker 6 (15:00):
Dbs are are you know, they're they're aware of the
ball and they're they're making plays when it is in
the air. So you know, obviously a great group of
DB's over there, but it just comes down to us,
you know, being smart with the decisions and just you know,
take care of it at all times.
Speaker 5 (15:14):
Here from Bears fans saying, you know, you know Jordan
Love will throw a few up in the air for you.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
You only have a few chances against Jordan Love.
Speaker 5 (15:21):
Yeah, get back to me when he throws his fourth
interception for the season. He's got three for the season
right now. If you look at the MVP odds, Jordan
Love is third behind Drake May and Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Kind of a dark horse third.
Speaker 5 (15:34):
I still think Love has a shot if this team
can string some wins together. He's a distant third, no question.
If New England and the Rams continue to win, it's
not a story. But if the Packers Stackson wins here
and climb to the top of the NFC. Jordan Love
is absolutely in the conversation for MVP. He is not
turning the ball over. He is engineering fourth quarter comebacks,
(15:56):
four of them on the road this season. So you
got two quarter backs that have excelled late in games.
One though, has not played a whole lot of games outdoors.
Yes he practices outdoors, but Caleb Williams in his second season.
We'll feel the teens today at lambeau Field mid teens flurries,
not a whole lot of wind. It's December football at Lambo.
(16:18):
It's Packers Bears with the NFC North title on the line.
The winner will have a seventy something chance percent chance
to win the North. The loser will have a twenty
something percent chance to win the North. This is not
the season today, but there's a very good chance the
NFC North is decided today. What about the Bears side
of things? What about the Bears perspective when we come
(16:38):
back Lavelle e Neil the third Little Border battle for
Packer preview. How confident are Bears fans feeling as they
had to Lambo today? Lavell joins next, This is Packer Preview, proud.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
To be a Packer.
Speaker 7 (16:52):
Fan, the best football fans and over Land dot Packer fan.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
And it's a Packer fan.
Speaker 7 (17:10):
How many times must we take this disgrace? Another Bears
fan throwing insults in our face? The Packers aren't the
greatest team to ever played a game, evad him. From
time to time they been a little lame. How could
you ever love a team with Jim McMahon not even
forty big?
Speaker 2 (17:30):
He was as big at him.
Speaker 7 (17:32):
They got our reputation that's mostly based on luck. The Bears,
he still he'll suck slid with me.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
The Bears still sun. The Bear is still suck. The
Bear still suck. The Bear is still sucking.
Speaker 7 (17:47):
Really really really really really really suck.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
Yes, a Bears still suck.
Speaker 5 (17:55):
It's a Packer Previews time honored tradition to welcome the
Happy Schnaps combo into our covenant four times a year,
Twice for the Bears, twice for the Vikings.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (18:04):
I always turned my headphones up just a little bit
louder when the Happy Schnapps combo is coming on Packer Preview. Yes,
in my mind, the Bears still suck. We'll see if
they can change my opinion a bit later today, I
played that song in this segment because I wanted to
make sure our next guest had that loud and clear
in his phone. I'm sure he held it away from
(18:25):
him until I started talking. Lavelle e Neil the Third
joins the program. Our favorite packer found that it's a
good way to wake up in the morning on Packer
Bear's Day.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Isn't it, lovel Can you do any better than that?
Speaker 8 (18:36):
I mean, my god, that's the same when you play
every time I come on. You know it's old, it's
played out. And by the way, Jim and Mayn actually
is on a packer's roster before. So I don't even
know why you don't even play a song that includes
Tim McMahon. I know because he was one of you
for a while.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
You have to do better.
Speaker 8 (18:52):
Give me something different. Is that the best you got? Jim?
Speaker 5 (18:55):
And Jim McMahon has as many Packers Super Bowl rings
as he does Bear super Bowl rings. That's something I'll
never not remember. No, we'll play that as long as
I'm doing this show. It makes me happy, and that's
part of what the show is about. Making me happy.
Thank you for coming on lovel on a Sunday morning.
I know I said at the top of the show.
I tweeted it last night. Never in my wildest dreams
(19:17):
that I think the Indiana Hoosiers would enter the college
Football Playoff as the number one team in the country.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
I feel a parallel.
Speaker 5 (19:24):
I mean, never in your wildest dreams could you have
imagined the Bears would be the number one seed in
the NFC as the calendar turns to December.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
That's a fair question.
Speaker 8 (19:33):
Yeah, that's a little surprised. But the Bears have taken
advantage of the roster, the schedule that they've had, and
if they're a better team than last year. And let's
face it, the Offensi's made strides. The running game is fantastic.
They have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.
The defense has been working progress because of a boatload
of injuries, but Dennis Ellen is doing a remarkable job
(19:56):
of betting but no break, but having a defense has
be but no break. So it's been really fascinated to
watch and just imagine the improvement that the Bears have
made from last year to this year. Just think I'm
much better than going to be next year. Dan Storks
should be quaking in their boots now because the Bears
are about to start taking it north and never giving
it back.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
Yeah, or it's a three month glitch and we'll forget this.
Ever happened three or four weeks ago. After you played
the Packers twice at San Francisco, the Niants come in.
I want to go back to your offensive line because
both the Bears and Vikings tried to attack the offseason
the same way, and that is beef up the old line,
protect their young quarterback, give your team some physicality, and
clearly what they did, especially in the middle of that line,
(20:37):
adding a Super Bowl champion Joe Toney at left guard,
Drew Dolloman, Jonah Jackson, they brought in some studs. It's
worked infinitely better than it has up here with the Vikings, obviously,
but as we get into big games in December and
maybe if your luck plays out in January, having a leader.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
Like Joe Toney who's been through.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
This before, I don't think you can overstate how important
that could be for Ben Johnson to, you know, kind
of implement what he wants to do and then get
Caleb Williams as confident as he can possibly be, knowing
he's got that veteran championship presence in front of him.
Speaker 9 (21:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (21:12):
You know, Caleb Williams the sack sixty eight ten times
last year, and a lot of that was his fault
because of how he was playing the game. But the
combination of him getting the ball off his hand a
little bit quicker, plus this fantastic offensive line, he don't
be stacked like nineteen times this year, and that's a
draftic turnaround and to allow him to sit back in
the pocket and at least give him himself a chance
(21:34):
to make plays. Joe Toney is still greater as one
of the top guards in the NFL. Dolman was arguably
is the second best center in the NFL behind Creed
Humphrey and Jonah Jackson. Has been very solid. That was
the one guy I was worried about because I didn't
know much much about him. That he's been great and
(21:54):
this has been an engine and running games travel which
you guys will find out in a few hours from
now as the Bears run up and down Lambeau as
its main street, like it's main street in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Speaker 5 (22:10):
Yeah, it's tough to run all out when you're down
double digits, which could very easily happen, and that might
blow Ben Johnson's game plan completely out of the water
if they're suddenly down ten nothing in the first quarter
and they can't just rely on shoeing up clock. But
let's go back to your left tackle. Who's a rookie
second round pick. Is it Ozzie Trapolo or Trapillo or Trapelo?
How we pronounce it is?
Speaker 8 (22:29):
His name label, it's Pillow's two Pillow. It's from Boston College.
He's six' seven that has a lot of, size and
he actually was a right tackle Of Boston. College The
bears are repurposing him as a left, tackle which you,
KNOW i would scratch my head about at the beginning
of the, year but he's been functional and if that
doesn't work, out they have. Another they have A canadian
(22:49):
Named Pil, benedett who actually grades out very well above
average as a run. Blocker pass blocking is a little,
tough so so it's worked out a left. Tackle it's.
Weird The bears are one of the best offensive lines
in football without a left tackle who's an. Anchor but
they've managed to figure this one out, here so it's
been very entertaining to.
Speaker 5 (23:09):
Watch Yew oz is going to get to meet a
guy Named Micah parsons today for a good chunk of the,
afternoon so we'll see how he fares against the second
best pass rusher in The National Football.
Speaker 8 (23:18):
League, yeah you, know Because Michael parsons is usually implemented
across the defensive, front he'll lit up as a defensive
tackle or on the. ENDS i think Every vikings offensive
lineman got dominated By parsons at one point or the
other during The Green Bay packers win over The vikers
(23:39):
a few weeks. Ago that will not happen Because mike
knows that he tries to go up against the center
the interior offensive line of The, bears he's going to get.
Stopped so, YEAH i expect him to hover over left
tackle a lot, today which means that The bears will
either Use Coaston lovelin or Co comet to chip online
(24:00):
and neutralize, him and that will feed The. Bears The
bears will use the debt feeding to be productive against
The packers.
Speaker 5 (24:08):
Defense, yeah the next Time Michael parsons get neutralized by
anybody will be the first.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
TIME i don't know if you've watched.
Speaker 5 (24:13):
Him do teams do understand that they have to put
multiple people on, Him it doesn't seem to. Matter it
would be nice if For shungary would take advantage of
all that. Attention one of these days and and maybe
today's the day we will. See you're not going to
have one of your favorite, Weapons Roma dunese. TODAY i
understand from my standpoint that means you just mentioned your tight.
ENDS i think you'll see both those tight ends on
(24:34):
the field a. Lot they're going to go heavy looking
to run the. Ball how big a loss, though is
not Having Roma dunze on the field?
Speaker 8 (24:41):
Today, yeah it is. LOST i also want to point
out that your defensive tackle is out for the rest
of the. Year, well that's going to weaken the agreement
At packers assault because he has done a lot to
draw blockers and Allow Michael parsons to Be Michael, parsons
and that is going to be an issue today as
your team of hours they've been playing the last few
(25:03):
weeks with apparently with the stretch fracture in his, foot
and so that's the effect of his. Play So i'm
actually glad that he's not playing this. Routini he needs
to get healthy for a stretch because you know those
The bear's gonna be playing In january for a little bit,
maybe so we need him healthy for the. Postseason that
Means Luther burden will move up to the number two receiver.
Slot Luther burden's come a long. Way incredibly, talented great
(25:27):
route great with the ball in his. Hands has had
to learn the hard lessons about running controlled, routes which he.
Has he was at the point during preseason where he
couldn't get line up properly doing a. Walkthroughs and now
this guy is running better, Routes he's getting the bomb
position where he can make, plays And burden's gonna be.
Great and then over Media sakaris will step in there
(25:48):
as a slot receiver Who Caylor williams likes from a training.
Camp so, yeah well this day's gonna be a. Loss
but you know, what he was already playing at eighty five,
percent so it's prised it that he's getting some rest,
here getting it some time to get healed up. Here
but we saw dig J, moore Then Luther burton have
The caius as a number three, Receiver so pack a
(26:09):
lunch packers.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Secondary, yeah, yeah those guys are destined For.
Speaker 5 (26:14):
Canton there's no question about. That we haven't talked about
a quarterback yet who still holds out of the ball
longer than any quarterback in The National Football. League he's
absolutely made strides Under Ben. Johnson there's no arguing that
he's been good in the fourth quarter and help engineering
some crazy. Comebacks But Green bay has been the best
defense in THE nfl and dealing with scrambling, quarterbacks allowing
just one hundred and eight yards all, season two quarterbacks
(26:37):
who like to run the. Football he's in a, playoff
very cold afternoon against a very good defense that will
get its best linebacker back in Kway. Walker what do
you expect out Of caleb today Against Jeff affley's ferocious
defense on a very, cold late afternoon In Green, Bay.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
WISCONSIN i had to correct.
Speaker 8 (26:57):
You one thing is not a, scramming scrambling. Quarterback he's
a quarterback who can. Scramblecast he's not looking to run.
First he's looking to make plays with his, arm and
then if he has, to he will run And Ben
johnson will scheme a couple of runs in for him
that will upset the package. Defense, yeah when it's third
(27:19):
and six and nothing's open right. Away he can get
that first, down, definitely but he's not looking to run.
First and he has made stride this. Year he's a
much better quarterback than was a year. Ago he's a
way better quarterback next year than he is right. Now
he's on the nice development. Path everybody's on him for
his competion percentage is right there where it's right there Where,
(27:47):
no The Buffalo bill's Quarterback. Allen he's right there With
Josh allen in the second year in terms of completion.
Percentage so he, is he is, learning he's getting. BETTER i,
ALSO i actually want to consider last year as year
zero for, him since he had Met eberflus as a
head coach and a crappy offensive coordinator In Shane. Waldron
(28:08):
but now he has a credible offensive mastermind And Ben
johnson to develop him the right. Way As kelvin O'Connell
has said multiple, times organizations fell quarterbacks more than quarterbacks
fell organizations all. Right, now The bears organization is not.
Family Caleb, williams he's on the trajectory three one the
best quarterback in his vision within the next three.
Speaker 5 (28:30):
Year, okay, okay somebody has started drinking way too early
on A sunday. Morning ALL i know level is if
you want to look up THE nfl quarterback passer rating
leaders and look For, caleb start at the. Bottom you'll
find his name a lot faster than you will if
you start at the. Top last one for, you because we.
Speaker 8 (28:46):
Have a go look at those passer ratings in the fourth.
Quarter it's one hundred and thirty.
Speaker 5 (28:51):
Nine, yeah you're not playing a bunch of no name
teams this, week my. Friend and you're not playing a
bunch of backup quarterbacks which has fueled your five game winning.
Streak you playing the number three man in THE mvp
race right. Now It's toyota than. Season what is your
defense gonna do with The Green Bay? Packers your defense
gives up five point two yards per. Carry Josh jacobs is,
healthy The packers offensive line is reconfigured and opening up,
(29:14):
holes And Jordan love Has jayden. Reidback Perhaps Matthew golden
suddenly awakened On Tavian wicks and the number one, Receiver Christian.
Watson haven't even Mentioned Romeo, dobbs who is the top.
Receiver the first half of the. Season packers offense is getting,
healthier it's getting more. Productive and your defense right now
cannot stop the run twenty fourth AND pff run defense
(29:35):
grade twenty, six the ESPN's run stop win. Rate, yes
they take the ball away from mediocre. QUARTERBACKS i ain't
seeing a media quarterback, today my.
Speaker 8 (29:44):
Friend, well you, know it's funny you bring it. Up
the one thing you overlook when you look at these
stats is that look at The bear statistics on third
down and in the red. Zone whin he tough? Enough they've,
been but they don't. Break, okay and they've been insured
the entire. Year and this is except for Already stevenson being.
Out this is one of the more the healthiest Of
(30:04):
bears defense has been all. Year Jalen johnson is back
to shut down your wide. Receivers Kivid gordon's back to
shut down your wide. Receivers, oh by the, way there's
not a game that goes by with our packer receiver
having a limp off the, field with some with a
hangnail or some string calf or some other.
Speaker 10 (30:22):
Injury.
Speaker 8 (30:22):
Okay and the other development that's happening this week is THAT. Tj,
edwards our run stopping, linebacker is activated off the injured,
list and he will be playing today to Stop Josh.
Jacobs so The bears are about as healthy as it
can be, defensively and that's going to cause problems in
lambetfield because once, again just like a strong running, game
(30:43):
a good defense, travels and When chicago's come up to
the suburb that is the state Of, wisconsin they will
be playing and basically in their.
Speaker 5 (30:51):
Backyard, well hearing you, talk it's hard to believe your
team could be a touchdown underdog to anybody in THE.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Nfl how did your team is a number one seed
be six and a half point.
Speaker 5 (30:59):
Under they must not be seeing your team as clearly
as you're seeing your team as we got to let
you go truthfully from your. Heart what do you expect
to see happen At lambo? Today you know from your?
Brain now you're your.
Speaker 8 (31:12):
BRAIN i think The bears keep the getting. Close they might,
lose but they, lose it's gonna be by three. Points
BUT i still think they have a chance to pull
off the upset, well AND i just want to remind,
everybody especially all those packer people who are drinking their
paint theinter right now before they watch this, game that
The bears walked Into lambeau last year and beat The.
Packers and this is a better team than it was last.
(31:34):
Year so don't assume that you're going to win this,
Game packer, friends.
Speaker 5 (31:38):
Just promise me that two weeks from this, morning when
we Do Packer review following the game At Soldier, field
as you'll save me five or ten minutes for me
to have my fun with.
Speaker 8 (31:46):
You well after this, Victory i'm gonna promise You i'm
gonna Play Andrew billings in the re enactment of this.
Speaker 5 (31:51):
Game thank, You Lavell, joe your day At allaries. Today
lavelle E neil the third one of the Typical bears
fans that just get so excited they win a few.
Games they get so excited they're gonna have the best
quarterback in the in the division in the next three.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
Years he has a, long long climb ahead of. Him my,
friends all right back to.
Speaker 5 (32:15):
Reality Blake moore AND i will break down the matchup
as we see. It, yes they've got some playmakers on.
Defense yes they've got a great running. Game packers aren't
so bad. Themselves we'll give you our predictions and our
thoughts about the big game. Today right after, these.
Speaker 9 (32:31):
Tell all the people across THE, USA i love My
Green Bay, packers who won the first superpos ever. PLAYED
i love My Green.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
Bay good Morning packer.
Speaker 10 (32:51):
Fans is gapershocraty looking forward to A packers win. Today
but to do, that The packer is gonna need to
stop The bears. Run but insane that The packers also
need to run the ball because since The bears are
a vision based, defense which is how they get all
their receptions and means That shell And zonn coverages are
(33:11):
up in the, skies is that their. Looks if they
can do, that The bears will not win this.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
Game go back.
Speaker 11 (33:18):
Goal good Morning packer fans day From Maple grove checking.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
In today's prediction is a thirty one to seventeen.
Speaker 11 (33:27):
Victory we haven't played better football last few, weeks last
two weeks. ESPECIALLY a couple of things That i've noticed
is we've had a significant reduction in. Penalties we're not
getting nearly a number of penalties called on, us and
we also seem to be moving the ball just a
little bit better on the. Ground love to hear your
response to that, Day Dan, Blake Go.
Speaker 5 (33:48):
Packer thanks to The daves for checking in via the
iHeartRadio app and the callback. Button we encourage that On
Packer preview every single week as we get set For
Packers bears as big as it gets, Right Packers bears
rivalry back. Alive, finally we'll see if there's any staying.
(34:08):
Power we've had little stops and starts over the, years
but probably the most Significant Packers bears game since the
twenty ten championship. GAME i remember the twenty thirteen season,
ender The Randall cobb touchdown on the fourth down the final.
Minute that was, Great but The bears weren't this as
good right now as they appear to be winners of
five straight and fueled by a running attack that just
(34:31):
ran for nearly three hundred yards In. Philadelphia they took
the ball away on a toush. PUSH i, mean it
was one of those Weird Black friday. Afternoons we'll see
if The bears can back it. Up they do want
to run the football all. Afternoon there's no question that
offensive line is. Humming those two backs are very. Good
managai Misspracticed, thursday but he is a full go today
to be a compliment To DeAndre. Swift but make no
(34:54):
Mistake if The bears are to spring the upset of Lambeau,
field it'll be because their young quarterback makes big. Plays
and as much As Lavelle neil thinks he's on A
Josh allen, track the fact. Remains as Tweeter steve reminded
me over the, break he is the lowest completion percentage
for qualified quarterbacks this. Season Caleb williams does at fifty eight.
Percent that's behind such luminaries As Dylan gabriel And rookie Cam.
(35:18):
Ward he is going to have to make big plays
against The Green Bay packers, defense And Matt lafleur talked
about The bears young quarterback earlier this.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
Week he's done a great. Job he's kind of like
a magician back there in terms of his. ESCAPABILITY i,
mean they're getting ready for some of these, games and
watching the crossover tape just how he is able to
avoid sacks and negative plays situations has been pretty. Impressive
he's obviously a very strong, guy AND i think he
(35:48):
has got great quickness and speed as, well so he's
a real. Threat he's a, real true dual threat kind
of guy in regards to his ability to move the
sticks with his legs or make those off schedule. Plays
there's not a throw in the field he can't. Make
AND i think he's done a really good job of
taking care of the football this year as. Well SO
i think he's Seen you've seen a ton of. Growth
(36:09):
is probably as much as any quarterback in this league
from year one to year or.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
Two i'd like to.
Speaker 5 (36:14):
See the ball in his hands in the fourth quarter
and see if he can execute that kind of magic
at Lambeau. Field that's going to be very. Interesting he
has been great late in, games, again not against the
greatest of, competition but here's his opportunity to do it
in a big spot In december on the road at Lambeau.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Field AS i, said it does come down to stop
in the. Run.
Speaker 5 (36:33):
Today we Know Devonte wyatts, out we know we're gonna
have to rely on some young. KIDS a couple of
rookies From georgia going to get a. Chance they brought
in a couple of nose. Tackles we'll see if they're
ready for. Action it's all about containing the, run Putting
Caleb williams into passing, situations and The packers defensive Coordinator
Jeff hafley certainly knows.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
It, yeah it will be a. Challenge.
Speaker 12 (36:54):
ONE i think it starts with their offensive. LINE i
think they're playing really. WELL i think their offensive line
coach has done a really good. Job they've got better each.
Week and then they have two really good backs who
are really good compliment to one. Another you combine that
with a good, scheme AND i Think ben does a good.
Job you have to be really sound and you have
to be really disciplined to play this run. Game you
(37:14):
can't run up the, field you can't jump out of a,
gap you can't pass rush on a. Rundown you have
to be. Disciplined you have to leverage the, football you
have to get off, blocks you have to stay, square
AND i think if you're, not that's what you.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
See you see the. Ball you, know they like to
run stretch, Right so.
Speaker 12 (37:32):
It starts out wide and then they look to kind
of cut it back one gap at a. Time and
they're discipline staying on their tracks and doing. That and
just imagine if that guy's looking for one gap at
a time and he sees somebody.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
Out of a gap and he gets, vertical he's.
Speaker 12 (37:44):
Gone and they're coached well and they're good, players SO
i think it's a combination of, scheme, coaching players and
they've been successful at. It you, KNOW i don't think
it's just The eagles. GAME i think they've run the
ball pretty consistent all. Year they just they ran the
ball a lot in that game and they had success doing.
It So i'd anticipate the same thing going into our.
Speaker 5 (38:04):
Game we've talked a lot about The bears offense Against
Green bay's, defense and we're all really curious to see
if Green bay can stop the. Run they've been up
and down all. Season right we talked about how they
Contain gibbs And, barkley but then there was ric O'Donnell
running free and other running backs have had big. Days
so that is probably the biggest story in this, game
is how The packers d does against that running attack
(38:25):
and then Forcing caleb into. Mistakes but let's not forget
what The packers have when they have the. Football they're
facing A PACKERS d or A bears defense THAT i
mentioned gives up five point two yards of. Carry they're
one of the worst run defenses in. Football they also
can't pressure the. Quarterback, yes they Have montese sweat seven
and a half sacks leads the team their last in
pressure percent in THE nfl on third, Downs Jordan love
(38:48):
is THE nfl best on third. DOWNS i mentioned, earlier It's.
December It's toyota than. SEASON a couple people texted me
what does that. Mean it means When toyota does their
promotional time In, December Jordan love just magically becomes the
Real Josh allen and he becomes as qual as great
a quarterback as there is in THE. Nfl, brett what
are what Are jordan Loves toyota than stats to the
(39:09):
point where he's become A toyota.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
Spokesperson, yes because he's so good this time of.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
Year just four thousand and five, yards thirty three touchdowns
to one, interception one thirty three touchdowns one, interception thirty
one deep completions that leads THE, nfl and ninety one
point NINE pff passing grade that also leads THE.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
Nfl That toyota Than Jordan. Love and that's where we.
Speaker 5 (39:33):
Are and for my, money we should maybe Lobby toyota
to start this In, september you, know maybe A toyota
than that great idea that lasts throughout the football. Season
so we jest a little, bit but It's it's remarkable
How love's game gets stronger as the season goes. On
and that's exactly what you want in a quarterback who
will have almost a full compliment of receivers at his disposal.
(39:55):
Today can't wait to see the return Of Jayden, reid
Maybe Matthew, Golden Dantavian. Wi maybe he turned a corner
with what he did On Thanksgiving day to really help
That packers win that. Game And Christian, watson who almost
single handedly Helped Green bay win the game At Soldier
field a year ago before the devastating injury in the
rematch in the season, finale has been nothing short of
(40:16):
electric since he's come back from THE acl. Injury he
is the guy Green bay turns to when they need
a big. Play the signing they did to extend him
next year looks shrewd as we look at what he's
doing for this team right. NOW i have no doubt
That Green bay will move the football On chicago. Today
it's all about protecting the. Football if they don't turn
the ball, over they do not lose this. Game all,
(40:38):
Right Brett final a couple, minutes give me your.
Speaker 1 (40:40):
Thoughts, YEAH i agree THAT i think they're gonna. WIN
i was still put it it optimistic and not so much.
CONFIDENT i think they've got a really good shot at. It,
UNFORTUNATELY i think just the way that The bears, PLAY
i don't think we're going to see a lot Of Caleb,
williams unless to pack it out to a, hugely which is.
POSSIBLE i think it's going to be probably a nail
bier until maybe halfway through the fourth or The packers
(41:01):
pull ahead a little bit to Where cale best to,
throw and then maybe a late turnover. PICK i still
it just worries me about the run. Game they've been
so good against a Vaunted eagles defense last week that
if they just played ball, control this is a game
WHERE i would take the, ball go down and try
to score and set the tone because if you, let
if you, defer let them take The, obviously if you
(41:22):
lose doesn't. Matter but if you defer and they take
the ball and run eight minutes off the, CLOCK i
don't like that start for the Pack but if we
can get out, AHEAD i like their. Chances IF i
had to put a number on, It i'd probably go
twenty seven to twenty.
Speaker 5 (41:34):
One i'm with, you take the, ball put some points
on the, board and see If chicago can keep. UP
i Expect Ben johnson to roll out some stuff he's
been holding and waiting for The. Packers we'll see some gadgety,
stuff some stuff that they have not. Shown he knows
how important this game is to his, ownership to his fan,
base and to his. Players but that might be. THIRD i,
MEAN i think the fan base is dying to see
(41:54):
what he's got cooked, up AND i Think Green bay's
got to be ready for. THAT i do think it
will be a close game in the four fourth, quarter you,
know maybe it's like. SEVENTEEN i think it's lower scoring
than a lot of. People maybe it's like seventeen thirteen
pack fourth, quarter and then whether it's a defensive touchdown
or a love, touchdown one touchdown late cements. It i've
got a twenty four to thirteen pack over The. Bears,
(42:15):
yes they cover the. Spread you can read all about
my preview as always at zonecoverage dot. COM i encourage
you to do. That i'll have a review of the
game tomorrow morning that you can read as. WELL i
hope you will do. That brett AND i will have
a review of this. Game Our Packer review podcast up
by mid morning. Tomorrow find it on The iHeart. App
just turn to pack a preview and you'll find that tomorrow.
(42:37):
Morning look It's Packers. Bears It's, december it means. Something
it's at Lambeau. Field it's going to be fifteen, Degrees
flurries are going to be. Flying we got the Top
fox crew ready to call this, game and we get
to do it all again a week From saturday night
At Soldier. Field it's just the great time of year
to have a football team that's playing its best. Football
how Does Green bay respond from the command performance In
(42:59):
detroit by taking care of business at Lambeau field against their,
oldest most hated rival and shut down those Chirping Lavelle
Emil bears fans and put them in their. Place pack
twenty Four bears. Thirteen it's a great time to be.
Alive The hoosiahs are number, one and The pack are
about to take down The. Bears enjoy, it, everybody and as,
(43:19):
always Go pack
