squarely in the playoff mix. At the All Star breaks,
you get all stars. We got a multi talented star
in the studio with us right now. She can talk wild,

skate out the eyes, straight to the diamond, and break
down baseball with the best room. She can drink a
beer and wake surf at the same damn time. She
can clear out the Team store at target Field and
Grand Casino Arena. So far, I haven't discovered anything that
she can't do. She's quickly becoming one of our broadcast besties.

which I was like, I don't know if I'd introduce
myself as anything of the best anything in the world.
Definitely not anything I can say of airways. What would

you say that you're like exceptionally good at that. People
might not know that you're exceptionally good.

At oh oh at any time in your life. To
be right now, I said an elementary I was really
good at cup Stack. Brett was like the speed stack.
There was like a month parent where I was committed.

I would say, this is so random. People don't know
this about this. I was a huge musical feeder kid
really so yes, like the biggest so I know like
so many musicals. I think that's one thing that people
don't know about it that I could name off like
musical theater songs and like other musical theater things. That's
ahead and talent I think that.

I have because people would want to put you in
the sports like, oh, you're sports girl. Yeah, so you
know sports and you're not gonna know wicked.

Yeah, no exactly. And I cried to both of them.
In the theaters, I am dedicated to this man.

Now that you say that, I can kind of see it.
I can kind of see it, like I can see
the little tinges of theater kid. But you're not like
full theater kids exact. You know what I'm saying. You
never want to go full theater.

want to be in the mix. So then people go,
oh my gosh, you have layers. I'm like, yeah, I'm
like an onion.

So how did you get into sports?

for you? Or like was it was it theater first
and sports sports then theater are kind of at the
same time.

Actually, theater first. I was in musicals at like Civics
of the theater, like in Fairmont at the Fairmont Opera
House or like I was like five or seven or something,
so I was like an Oklahoma and music man and
then I just started doing it when I was younger.
I was actually in the Sound of Music with my
brother and my dad. Yeah, so I was marred.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
All that's a family Yeah, it's a family thing.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
It's a family it's a family thing. Yeah, Like my
grandma was in it too, Like we were all theater
kids and like doing it together in Fairmont. And then
I really got into sports when I was like in
middle school because my dad is just he's a sports
nut and I get a lot from him. I was
actually on the radio to or on the call today
driving over here and he calls me and he's like,
so maybe we should brush up on you like Minnesota Twins,

Like okay, so this and this, and we're just like
talking about the Minnesota Twins and getting me prepared.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
So he's a really big year I talk about this.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
But yeah, so he's probably a big driving force of
why I do what I do and why I love
sports so much. Because funny story, I was I was
super young. I was a baby, and my mom, my
biological mom put me in like agreement Packers jersey, and he.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Looks a girl.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
No, here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Don't look at him differently.

I do all the all the time. And he looked
at that and goes, my daughter, no daughter of mine
will be wearing a Green Bay Packers jersey.

That's great parenting right there, and that's encouraging.

Had to deal with forty one donut, and he had
to deal with think about, all.

Right, I'm done with my character. It builds character, it'll

it finally comes. This year, bred like, this is it.
You heard the psychic two weeks ago. She basically she
spoiled it. Spoilers. She said to the Bikings are going
to ruin the super Bowl. That's at least how I
took it. That's how you took it. That's how I

took it. Yeah, that's encouraging to hear, though, because I've
been really trying to get my daughter to get and
she's into gymnastics. He's super into gymnastics. But I think
it's one of those things. It's like my dad a
super into sports. So the last thing that I'm going
to get into is into sports. But sometimes he just
randomly shocked me, Like she texted me during the Wolves
playoff front. She's just like she sent me a picture
of the TV and she's watching the game. I was like,
what the are you okay? You know, like, are you

being held hostage right now? What the hell is going on?
And she'says like, yeah, I just figured I would watch
Anthony and Victor. And I was like, oh, Anthony and
Victor freaks. You guys are cool? Yeah right, yeah. I
was like, oh, y'all met before, Like this is news
to me. Your father, So that's it. That's encouraging to hear.
What was because you're super passionate about the times, you're

super passionate about the wild which one came? Was it
the love of baseball first or the love of hockey first?

It's actually the love of the Viking story vikings O
fair enough, because my dad's been season ticket holders for
like thirty years for them in the sort of Viking,
so I've been going to games.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Yeah.

He brought me and my brother and all of our family,
and it was it's such an experience, Like I was
at the last game the Metrodome, first game at US
Bank Minneapolis Miracle, Like, that's something we just always have
done together. So that was the real love for it.
And then you know, going to Twins baseball games as
well came. And then for hockey, I did sports reporting

and like I said, reporting at Minnesota State for the
men's hockey team, the Mavericks, and I did that in school,
got to know a lot about hockey because when I
went into hockey guys, I didn't know anything until college
my sophomore year of college, so I didn't know anything
about exactly I sometimes I feel like I do. And
I just really fell in love with the sport, and

then I got more into the wild so that's kind
of the the arc. And then of course I got
into the NBA. Chris always hated My dad always hated
the NBA, and he is crazy because he officiates and
coaches basketball.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
I just, yeah, I don't college.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
He was a huge college basketball guy, so that's kind
of the big why he's getting more into it though.
I've been talking to him more about it, so hopefully
he'll he'll hopefully the lebron will come to the table
and then he'll be like, wait, I'm locked in everybody the.

Targets that are no doubt. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Like me growing up in Iowa, everyone was just college basketball,
college sports, like oh that makes sense. Yeah, like the
Hawkives Cyclones are number one, and everything else is like,
oh you watch the NBA, oh okay, Like it's it
was a weird, like unspoken. Yeah, you have the Iowa Wolves,
you have the Iowa Cubs and the Iowa Wild Yeah,
literally everything, but it's college sports rules and that's something
(08:23):
that like just never really did anything.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
For me, Like I was more of a pro sports guy.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
Yeah, which many reasons up here with.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Some of those markets that just they don't care about.
Like when I used to do the overnights and write
the sports reports, I had to keep track of eighteen
different markets over one hundred different sports scenes and something.
The markets would give us a ranking of what they
want to hear about, and Alabama was like, please don't
ever talk about professional sports. We don't care. We don't
want to hear about a single professional Alabama basketball football,

Auburn basketball football, and if you're really struggling, you can
go to the other sports too, but we don't want
to hear about professional sports whatsoever. Some of those marcusists,
they don't They have no interest. Like people like when
we're all trying to you know, went out, we hear
expansion news and whatnot. Where is this team going to go?
Where could they expand some of those places don't want it,
like Alabama Crimson tib will put money in your pocket,

so you don't want to start a team at Alabama?

Like I had an epiphany this past hockey season. I
went I did the bit where I drove up to
Duluth to see Arizona State played Duluth because I looked
like Arizona State hockey coach. So I had to get
a picture with him.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah. I took a picture with him.
It made the PST graphic. So anyways, and I was
sitting I know, I have to have my glasses.

I was sitting right behind the bench of this game,
and like looking at these players from that close, I
had like the epiphany, like these guys children playing this game. Yeah,
I'm watching and this is like people live and die
like bulldogs hockey. I'm like, oh, yeah, those are children
that we're watching. I don't know, like something like flipped

in my head. I guess we're watching children too in
pros like they're no. Nineteen twenty twenty one.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Right, So I don't know.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Just something happened to me that day where I'm like,
I like pro sports or college sports. I like watching them,
but I don't if they lose. It's not like, oh
my god, the world's not it's gonna stop spinning, you
know what I mean. I don't know, a weird thing
happened to me.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
I totally get it. It depends on the location, you know,
proximity to kind of the market that you're in. But
it's also like we miss our age kind of people
almost missed that the college sport way, the giant college. Well,
of course, if you went to a school, you're feeling,
you know, a lot of school spirit and whatnot. That's
a factor as well. But there was before our time,
you know, like college basketball, like they had all the
(10:53):
rivalries and all the storylines, and college football was like
the hottest ticket in town and whatnot. And then I
feel like by the time that we kind of came
of age. A lot of these guys are only staying
for a year. These teams are there's so much turnover
from year to year, so you don't have those naturally
built in kind of storylines and rivalries. That's one of
the reasons why you know women's college basketball took off
over the last couple of years is because a lot
(11:14):
of them are staying for multiple years. So it's almost
wrestling like, you know, where you build those storylines, you
build those rivalries, and you look forward to I mean
a year in advance, we were already like, oh, I
can't wait to see Angreel Reeson and Caitlyn Clark play
against each other again because we know about the familiarity
and that that sort of animosity. So I feel like
we kind of we almost missed the boat. Because college
sports is obviously way different these days it is.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
I think the transfer portal just has a lot to
do with that. Exactly what you said, you don't build
a lot because you look like like Coy Parrish too,
where he was had that huge storyline of staying here
and staying in his home state and you know, hometown boy,
and then all of a sudden, you know, the transfer
portal talks and he enters and he goes to the Ducks. Yeah,
and it's the loyalty part of it or the nil
(11:57):
and everything kind of changes all of that. Whereas when
we watched it, you know, even in my you know,
sophomore year at Minnesota State, there were these guys that
were like, no, I'm staying Minnesota State to see it
out and this versus now, like a lot of them
will just you know, go into the transfer portal to
see and sometimes the grass isn't always greener over there.
But right that's the biggest thing, is like we just
don't have those knit storylines really, but.

The green is always does tend to be, but a
different type of green, a little bit greener. We might
talk a little college football later with Andy Greeder. He's
an elite a feunt ball and football mind. But let's

I'm thinking a great show as well. I don't know
if you could consider this a great show. Brett Blake Moore,
that's just probably a disaster, That's what most people would say,
I would admit, But we got Marissa Voss in the
studio with us. She's gonna try to buoy this sinking ship.
So we're right at the All Star Game before we
get into the our suddenly surging Twins team. Is the
All Star Game cooked? I mean, I kind of. It's tough,
(13:33):
you know, I feel like most All Star games are cooked.
Hockey's definitely number one now, right with this new four Nations. Yeah,
that's the number one All Star game. Because the NBA
All Star Game is completely it's done, so all the
donks have been dunked. They don't have superstars in it anymore.
And the Pro Bowl, I mean, come on, let's not
even we don't even have to bring up the Pro Bowl.
Speaker 3 (13:53):

Speaker 2 (13:54):
But growing up, like the MLB All Star Game was
my favorite one to watch and now I'm I was
also injury relatable. We're seeing guys like show Hey, bow Wow.
I think Laddy Junior is out, Byron Buxton is out.
So a lot of the big names are out. Is
this I might be All Star Game cook?
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Yeah, it's hard because it's like if you're really into
it and really into like the All Star like games,
it's it can be fun if you're willing into baseball.
But for me, like too, I love baseball, and I
I more tuned into like the home Run Derby, like
last year when Byron was in, like the home Run
Derby or you know anything else. Those are the really
things that I look at because it's fun. But the
All Star Game itself, I'm like, I I really don't
(14:31):
know if I'm gonna sit down and really watch this.
Maybe from a content content perspective to see like Joe
Ryan and like him and pitching, that will be cool,
But if you don't have again, a lot of big
names and their like show Hey or Byron Buckstin's out,
it kind of looks like, eh, yeah, so I want
to I'm gonna be interesting to see how the viewers
is and how how many people are actually watching. But
(14:52):
it does feel like that is the format where a
lot of these all star things, the Pro Bowl and
everything else in the NBA games are a little cooked.
And that's why I loved how the wilder. I guess
the NHL went to four nations because it was the
most electric thing I've ever seen. Yeah, it's like a
mini World Cup exactly. It was so amazing to watch.
I was watching every single game. I was patriot, patriotic.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
I was like, play fray ball, dropped their gloves to
start the better, taking some Canadian ass.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Awesome.

It was literally like this is how it's started. I'm like, yes,
like what the f is a kilometer?

It was crazy, but nothing brings out though the patriotism,
the nationalism. Then international sports, isn't it the best? It's
literally the best.

I can't even talk about it, like even with the
like the World Cup, Like I played soccer. I like soccer.
I don't think i've ever like really watched a World
Cup game. And then when USA men's were like doing
well for the first time and like it seems like ever,
I was like yes, yes, and then they choked and
then that was part.

But I don't know, I mean I I feel like
a little bit maybe the All Star Game will be cooked,
but who knows, maybe this year would be better. Maybe
they should just do what, you know, go to four
Nations type of do you do something like that, like
the what a Baseball Classic?

The World Baseball Classic? That's what I was just about
to say. That's basically supplanted the All Star Game because
that is awesome.

Yes, they only do it like once in a blue moon.

And I do know what the rhyme or reason is for.
Is it is it every four years? I think so?
Speaker 1 (16:30):
And it's during spring training, so you don't even get
like you have so many guys who the teams are
so scared of them possibly playing competitive baseball before the
season starts. It's like, if I'm a GM, I'd really
have my guys playing in the World Baseball Classic against
pitchers actually trying to get them out, then a pitcher
trying to work on his change up, you know, all

day right.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Well themselves even spoke about it. Some of them have said,
like I think it was Mike Chelton that says like
this was the most meaningful baseball that I've ever played,
you know, like I they really want to be a part.
You see how much it means to Team Japan or
Team USA or some of these other you know, these
Latin American countries and Central American countries as well. So
I think the World Baseball Classic is just get the
All Star Game out it, give those guys a break,
(17:13):
and we'll just do the World Baseball Maybe they could
do it right now, like d're in July. Oh my,
that would be amazing. They're so sick. They ejected into
my veins, much like the Twins. Give me all the
w's dog. I mean, where is the sudden surge coming from?
We just talked about it a little bit ago, Marissa.
The series wins against the Yankees, the Guardians, the Angels.
(17:35):
Now they're right in the playoff mix, they're right in
the al Central mix. Where is this sudden surge coming from?
With the Minnesota Twins.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
I feel like the Twins kind of do this a
lot because you remember, I think what it was last
year they had how many games like double digits in
a row wins, And I feel like they have this
surge a lot where they kind of start out either
good or whatever, and then they really get into the groove.
But I think they hit their prime right now, right
before the All Star break, obviously sliding into that wild
(18:04):
card spot and solidifying that. I also think a really
big thing is, like you said, the Yankees, like this
was a first win at Yankee Stadium since twenty fourteen,
Like this is crazy, That's like what that's twelve years ago,
you know, And the Yankees have always just been that
blue blood program and just been who the Yankees are,
So that's it was insane. And then again for the
(18:26):
Angels and for the Guardians, I think especially with like
the pitching, I think the bullpen really struggled with the
minnesotchwins in the beginning of the year, and they're really
starting to find the stride. Bradley is playing unbelievably.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
It's been a roller coaster ride throughout the season, but
it's been a lot more good than bad as of late.
I mean, just last night, what did he have another
you know, scattered six hits, cave up a couple of runs,
but still got the w you' you know what I'm saying,
Like he's been awesome, and I don't think a lot
of people were expecting that from Tosh.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
I don't think so either. And you know, when I
went the Guardians game by myself, and I saw a
Taj Bradley masterclass. Like it was just beautiful to see
he wasn't really giving up much of anything, and he's
just playing really good baseball right now. And I think
that's what is so good. And I again with this
what helps out a lot with the bullpen with the
Twins is they have such a great minor league right
(19:19):
now and a lot of talented players down on the Saints.
So the manager isn't afraid to go down to the
Saints and call up these guys and if they don't
do well, you know, option them back down and pick
and choose. And I think that's what's really working for
the Minnesota Twins is they are just they're not He's
not afraid to make these big plays to get these
guys to get wins. Like you know, Alan Rooden, like
(19:40):
he made his MLB debut and then he got a
walk off, Like what are we talking about? That's unbelievable.
He was injured in the beginning of the year and
then he came through and you know, he got called
up and even with the Saints, he's been a really
good hitter and a really good player for the Minnesota,
for the Saint Paul Saints, and then all sid to
go up to the Twins. So I think that's just

a big thing is more or less lately, the fearlessness
and the depth and a lot of guys finding their stride.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
Yeah, Shelty has been absolutely cooking and in this debut
year with the Minnesota Twins, he's been awesome. And it's
like you said, it's a different guy all the time.
Like obviously Byron Bucks's having an MVP, like this season
he's doing bust and things. But then you know, last
month it's Josh Bell who hit damn near three hundred
(20:29):
in the month of June. It's it's absurd. So far
this month, Cody Clemens has been great, Todas Bradley is
stepping up to the play. It's always a different guy.
It kind of feels like even you know, we give
we give the bullpen a lot of hell and rightfully so.
But Gomez has been awesome as of late. So it's
just a it's a different guy stepping up every single time.
(20:50):
And that's what's so exciting and unpredictable about this Twins team.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
I know, I'm Josh Bell, I want to talk about
because he is matching what he did last year the
entire sea in right now with the Twins. I think
he has like twenty one doubles so far this season
and again batting average almost three hundred and then I
think he's like sixty some RBIs right now, which is
like again matching what he did last season. He's just
finding started off a little bit shaking the beginning, but
(21:16):
now in the middle, Josh Bell has become really consistent,
really good guy for us, and it's just incredible to
see that. You know, sometimes we have those things where
you know, we pick up these guys and they are
all of a sudden, they're like playing the best baseball
you know, they have in a while. And I think
that's just a huge component too, where maybe they feel comfortable,
(21:36):
they love the like the clubhouse, they want to do well,
it's a good environment. Who knows, but they're playing baseball
at the right time, and I think that's working out
for the Twins.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
It's so much it's so much fun to watch because
we came into the season, We're all like it's cooked,
it's over before the season even started, you know, before
the first pitch was especially with the Pablo Lopez news,
it's like right away, it's like, okay, we can't have
nice things.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Season is over, and now they're right there and not
just in the mix for a wild card, but for
a central planet. It's so much fun. And obviously, as
people that talk about sports in the middle of summer,
it's great to actually have a relevant baseball team for once.
It is.

It's awesome, you know, And I think everybody was a
little bit hesitant. I think there's still people that are
hesitant about just the politics that are going on and everything.
But if you're really, you know, a fan of the Twins,
base Twins, baseball and everything, you're gonna go to the games.
And I still love going to Target Field, and I like,
you know, again, like brooks Lee is playing really well,
and Crider is playing great at short stop stepping in
(22:30):
and you've got a couple guys that are, you know,
playing these roles they never really have played or stepping
into stuff, like Royce Lewis as well, like he obviously
you guys, he got optioned down to the Saints, like
he wasn't playing good baseball, and it was almost like
a you need to a slap in the face, like,
wake up, we drafted you in twenty seventeen. Is our
number one overall pick.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Yeah, Like you're supposed to be the man.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
You're supposed to be the man. It's supposed to be
almost like, you know, the superstar of this franchise in
this organization. So now he's playing really good baseball. I
think he had in whatever game he was yesterday of
the day before, he had like two hits, runs, a
home run. RBIs breaking up a little bit, he is.
He's playing really well, and he's playing really good at
first base because he's a third base guy. He's playing

really good at first base because I feel like he's
like a guy that's I want to play baseball and
I want to do well with this team, so I'm
gonna do whatever takes right. And I think that's kind
of the thing too. You have a lot of guys

That's I hated the Golden State Warriors when they got

You knew it was going to be Warriors versus Cavaliers,
and they were just dominating everything. And that's what I hated.

then I just started doing it when I was younger.

brother and my dad. Yeah, so I was marred.

super into sports. So the last thing that I'm going
to get into is into sports. But sometimes he just
randomly shocked me, Like she texted me during the Wolves
playoff front. She's just like she sent me a picture
of the TV and she's watching the game. I was like,
what the are you okay? You know, like, are you

being held hostage right now? What the hell is going on?
And she'says like, yeah, I just figured I would watch
Anthony and Victor. And I was like, oh, Anthony and
Victor freaks. You guys are cool? Yeah right, yeah. I
was like, oh, y'all met before, Like this is news
to me. Your father, So that's it. That's encouraging to hear.
What was because you're super passionate about the times, you're

super passionate about the wild which one came? Was it
the love of baseball first or the love of hockey first?
Speaker 3 (06:38):
It's actually the love of the Viking story vikings O
fair enough, because my dad's been season ticket holders for
like thirty years for them in the sort of Viking,
so I've been going to games.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
He brought me and my brother and all of our family,
and it was it's such an experience, Like I was
at the last game the Metrodome, first game at US
Bank Minneapolis Miracle, Like, that's something we just always have
done together. So that was the real love for it.
And then you know, going to Twins baseball games as
well came. And then for hockey, I did sports reporting
(07:09):
and like I said, reporting at Minnesota State for the
men's hockey team, the Mavericks, and I did that in school,
got to know a lot about hockey because when I
went into hockey guys, I didn't know anything until college
my sophomore year of college, so I didn't know anything
about exactly I sometimes I feel like I do. And
I just really fell in love with the sport, and

then I got more into the wild so that's kind
of the the arc. And then of course I got
into the NBA. Chris always hated My dad always hated
the NBA, and he is crazy because he officiates and
coaches basketball.

I just, yeah, I don't college.

He was a huge college basketball guy, so that's kind
of the big why he's getting more into it though.
I've been talking to him more about it, so hopefully
he'll he'll hopefully the lebron will come to the table
and then he'll be like, wait, I'm locked in everybody the.

Targets that are no doubt. Yeah.

Like me growing up in Iowa, everyone was just college basketball,
college sports, like oh that makes sense. Yeah, like the
Hawkives Cyclones are number one, and everything else is like,
oh you watch the NBA, oh okay, Like it's it
was a weird, like unspoken. Yeah, you have the Iowa Wolves,
you have the Iowa Cubs and the Iowa Wild Yeah,
literally everything, but it's college sports rules and that's something

that like just never really did anything.

For me, Like I was more of a pro sports guy.

Yeah, which many reasons up here with.

Some of those markets that just they don't care about.
Like when I used to do the overnights and write
the sports reports, I had to keep track of eighteen
different markets over one hundred different sports scenes and something.
The markets would give us a ranking of what they
want to hear about, and Alabama was like, please don't
ever talk about professional sports. We don't care. We don't
want to hear about a single professional Alabama basketball football,

Auburn basketball football, and if you're really struggling, you can
go to the other sports too, but we don't want
to hear about professional sports whatsoever. Some of those marcusists,
they don't They have no interest. Like people like when
we're all trying to you know, went out, we hear
expansion news and whatnot. Where is this team going to go?
Where could they expand some of those places don't want it,
like Alabama Crimson tib will put money in your pocket,

so you don't want to start a team at Alabama?

Like I had an epiphany this past hockey season. I
went I did the bit where I drove up to
Duluth to see Arizona State played Duluth because I looked
like Arizona State hockey coach. So I had to get
a picture with him.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah. I took a picture with him.
It made the PST graphic. So anyways, and I was
sitting I know, I have to have my glasses.

I was sitting right behind the bench of this game,
and like looking at these players from that close, I
had like the epiphany, like these guys children playing this game. Yeah,
I'm watching and this is like people live and die
like bulldogs hockey. I'm like, oh, yeah, those are children
that we're watching. I don't know, like something like flipped

in my head. I guess we're watching children too in
pros like they're no. Nineteen twenty twenty one.

Right, So I don't know.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Just something happened to me that day where I'm like,
I like pro sports or college sports. I like watching them,
but I don't if they lose. It's not like, oh
my god, the world's not it's gonna stop spinning, you
know what I mean. I don't know, a weird thing
happened to me.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
I totally get it. It depends on the location, you know,
proximity to kind of the market that you're in. But
it's also like we miss our age kind of people
almost missed that the college sport way, the giant college. Well,
of course, if you went to a school, you're feeling,
you know, a lot of school spirit and whatnot. That's
a factor as well. But there was before our time,
you know, like college basketball, like they had all the
(10:53):
rivalries and all the storylines, and college football was like
the hottest ticket in town and whatnot. And then I
feel like by the time that we kind of came
of age. A lot of these guys are only staying
for a year. These teams are there's so much turnover
from year to year, so you don't have those naturally
built in kind of storylines and rivalries. That's one of
the reasons why you know women's college basketball took off
over the last couple of years is because a lot
(11:14):
of them are staying for multiple years. So it's almost
wrestling like, you know, where you build those storylines, you
build those rivalries, and you look forward to I mean
a year in advance, we were already like, oh, I
can't wait to see Angreel Reeson and Caitlyn Clark play
against each other again because we know about the familiarity
and that that sort of animosity. So I feel like
we kind of we almost missed the boat. Because college
sports is obviously way different these days it is.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
I think the transfer portal just has a lot to
do with that. Exactly what you said, you don't build
a lot because you look like like Coy Parrish too,
where he was had that huge storyline of staying here
and staying in his home state and you know, hometown boy,
and then all of a sudden, you know, the transfer
portal talks and he enters and he goes to the Ducks. Yeah,
and it's the loyalty part of it or the nil
(11:57):
and everything kind of changes all of that. Whereas when
we watched it, you know, even in my you know,
sophomore year at Minnesota State, there were these guys that
were like, no, I'm staying Minnesota State to see it
out and this versus now, like a lot of them
will just you know, go into the transfer portal to
see and sometimes the grass isn't always greener over there.
But right that's the biggest thing, is like we just
don't have those knit storylines really, but.

The green is always does tend to be, but a
different type of green, a little bit greener. We might
talk a little college football later with Andy Greeder. He's

if you could consider this a great show. Brett Blake Moore,
that's just probably a disaster, That's what most people would say,
I would admit, But we got Marissa Voss in the
studio with us. She's gonna try to buoy this sinking ship.
So we're right at the All Star Game before we
get into the our suddenly surging Twins team. Is the
All Star Game cooked? I mean, I kind of. It's tough,

you know, I feel like most All Star games are cooked.
Hockey's definitely number one now, right with this new four Nations. Yeah,
that's the number one All Star game. Because the NBA
All Star Game is completely it's done, so all the
donks have been dunked. They don't have superstars in it anymore.
And the Pro Bowl, I mean, come on, let's not
even we don't even have to bring up the Pro Bowl.
Speaker 3 (13:53):

But growing up, like the MLB All Star Game was
my favorite one to watch and now I'm I was
also injury relatable. We're seeing guys like show Hey, bow Wow.
I think Laddy Junior is out, Byron Buxton is out.
So a lot of the big names are out. Is
this I might be All Star Game cook?
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Yeah, it's hard because it's like if you're really into
it and really into like the All Star like games,
it's it can be fun if you're willing into baseball.
But for me, like too, I love baseball, and I
I more tuned into like the home Run Derby, like
last year when Byron was in, like the home Run
Derby or you know anything else. Those are the really
things that I look at because it's fun. But the
All Star Game itself, I'm like, I I really don't
(14:31):
know if I'm gonna sit down and really watch this.
Maybe from a content content perspective to see like Joe
Ryan and like him and pitching, that will be cool,
But if you don't have again, a lot of big
names and their like show Hey or Byron Buckstin's out,
it kind of looks like, eh, yeah, so I want
to I'm gonna be interesting to see how the viewers
is and how how many people are actually watching. But
(14:52):
it does feel like that is the format where a
lot of these all star things, the Pro Bowl and
everything else in the NBA games are a little cooked.
And that's why I loved how the wilder. I guess
the NHL went to four nations because it was the
most electric thing I've ever seen. Yeah, it's like a
mini World Cup exactly. It was so amazing to watch.
I was watching every single game. I was patriot, patriotic.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
I was like, play fray ball, dropped their gloves to
start the better, taking some Canadian ass.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Awesome.

It was literally like this is how it's started. I'm like, yes,
like what the f is a kilometer?

It was crazy, but nothing brings out though the patriotism,
the nationalism. Then international sports, isn't it the best? It's
literally the best.

I can't even talk about it, like even with the
like the World Cup, Like I played soccer. I like soccer.
I don't think i've ever like really watched a World
Cup game. And then when USA men's were like doing
well for the first time and like it seems like ever,
I was like yes, yes, and then they choked and
then that was part.

But I don't know, I mean I I feel like
a little bit maybe the All Star Game will be cooked,
but who knows, maybe this year would be better. Maybe
they should just do what, you know, go to four
Nations type of do you do something like that, like
the what a Baseball Classic?

The World Baseball Classic? That's what I was just about
to say. That's basically supplanted the All Star Game because
that is awesome.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Yes, they only do it like once in a blue moon.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
And I do know what the rhyme or reason is for.
Is it is it every four years? I think so?
Speaker 1 (16:30):
And it's during spring training, so you don't even get
like you have so many guys who the teams are
so scared of them possibly playing competitive baseball before the
season starts. It's like, if I'm a GM, I'd really
have my guys playing in the World Baseball Classic against
pitchers actually trying to get them out, then a pitcher
trying to work on his change up, you know, all

day right.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Well themselves even spoke about it. Some of them have said,
like I think it was Mike Chelton that says like
this was the most meaningful baseball that I've ever played,
you know, like I they really want to be a part.
You see how much it means to Team Japan or
Team USA or some of these other you know, these
Latin American countries and Central American countries as well. So
I think the World Baseball Classic is just get the
All Star Game out it, give those guys a break,

and we'll just do the World Baseball Maybe they could
do it right now, like d're in July. Oh my,
that would be amazing. They're so sick. They ejected into
my veins, much like the Twins. Give me all the
w's dog. I mean, where is the sudden surge coming from?
We just talked about it a little bit ago, Marissa.
The series wins against the Yankees, the Guardians, the Angels.
(17:35):
Now they're right in the playoff mix, they're right in
the al Central mix. Where is this sudden surge coming from?
With the Minnesota Twins.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
I feel like the Twins kind of do this a
lot because you remember, I think what it was last
year they had how many games like double digits in
a row wins, And I feel like they have this
surge a lot where they kind of start out either
good or whatever, and then they really get into the groove.
But I think they hit their prime right now, right
before the All Star break, obviously sliding into that wild
(18:04):
card spot and solidifying that. I also think a really
big thing is, like you said, the Yankees, like this
was a first win at Yankee Stadium since twenty fourteen,
Like this is crazy, That's like what that's twelve years ago,
you know, And the Yankees have always just been that
blue blood program and just been who the Yankees are,
So that's it was insane. And then again for the
(18:26):
Angels and for the Guardians, I think especially with like
the pitching, I think the bullpen really struggled with the
minnesotchwins in the beginning of the year, and they're really
starting to find the stride. Bradley is playing unbelievably.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
It's been a roller coaster ride throughout the season, but
it's been a lot more good than bad as of late.
I mean, just last night, what did he have another
you know, scattered six hits, cave up a couple of runs,
but still got the w you' you know what I'm saying,
Like he's been awesome, and I don't think a lot
of people were expecting that from Tosh.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
I don't think so either. And you know, when I
went the Guardians game by myself, and I saw a
Taj Bradley masterclass. Like it was just beautiful to see
he wasn't really giving up much of anything, and he's
just playing really good baseball right now. And I think
that's what is so good. And I again with this
what helps out a lot with the bullpen with the
Twins is they have such a great minor league right
(19:19):
now and a lot of talented players down on the Saints.
So the manager isn't afraid to go down to the
Saints and call up these guys and if they don't
do well, you know, option them back down and pick
and choose. And I think that's what's really working for
the Minnesota Twins is they are just they're not He's
not afraid to make these big plays to get these
guys to get wins. Like you know, Alan Rooden, like
(19:40):
he made his MLB debut and then he got a
walk off, Like what are we talking about? That's unbelievable.
He was injured in the beginning of the year and
then he came through and you know, he got called
up and even with the Saints, he's been a really
good hitter and a really good player for the Minnesota,
for the Saint Paul Saints, and then all sid to
go up to the Twins. So I think that's just
(20:02):
a big thing is more or less lately, the fearlessness
and the depth and a lot of guys finding their stride.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
Yeah, Shelty has been absolutely cooking and in this debut
year with the Minnesota Twins, he's been awesome. And it's
like you said, it's a different guy all the time.
Like obviously Byron Bucks's having an MVP, like this season
he's doing bust and things. But then you know, last
month it's Josh Bell who hit damn near three hundred
(20:29):
in the month of June. It's it's absurd. So far
this month, Cody Clemens has been great, Todas Bradley is
stepping up to the play. It's always a different guy.
It kind of feels like even you know, we give
we give the bullpen a lot of hell and rightfully so.
But Gomez has been awesome as of late. So it's
just a it's a different guy stepping up every single time.
(20:50):
And that's what's so exciting and unpredictable about this Twins team.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
I know, I'm Josh Bell, I want to talk about
because he is matching what he did last year the
entire sea in right now with the Twins. I think
he has like twenty one doubles so far this season
and again batting average almost three hundred and then I
think he's like sixty some RBIs right now, which is
like again matching what he did last season. He's just
finding started off a little bit shaking the beginning, but
(21:16):
now in the middle, Josh Bell has become really consistent,
really good guy for us, and it's just incredible to
see that. You know, sometimes we have those things where
you know, we pick up these guys and they are
all of a sudden, they're like playing the best baseball
you know, they have in a while. And I think
that's just a huge component too, where maybe they feel comfortable,
(21:36):
they love the like the clubhouse, they want to do well,
it's a good environment. Who knows, but they're playing baseball
at the right time, and I think that's working out
for the Twins.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
It's so much it's so much fun to watch because
we came into the season, We're all like it's cooked,
it's over before the season even started, you know, before
the first pitch was especially with the Pablo Lopez news,
it's like right away, it's like, okay, we can't have
nice things.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Season is over, and now they're right there and not
just in the mix for a wild card, but for
a central planet. It's so much fun. And obviously, as
people that talk about sports in the middle of summer,
it's great to actually have a relevant baseball team for once.
It is.

It's awesome, you know, And I think everybody was a
little bit hesitant. I think there's still people that are
hesitant about just the politics that are going on and everything.
But if you're really, you know, a fan of the Twins,
base Twins, baseball and everything, you're gonna go to the games.
And I still love going to Target Field, and I like,
you know, again, like brooks Lee is playing really well,
and Crider is playing great at short stop stepping in

and you've got a couple guys that are, you know,
playing these roles they never really have played or stepping
into stuff, like Royce Lewis as well, like he obviously
you guys, he got optioned down to the Saints, like
he wasn't playing good baseball, and it was almost like
a you need to a slap in the face, like,
wake up, we drafted you in twenty seventeen. Is our
number one overall pick.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Yeah, Like you're supposed to be the man.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
You're supposed to be the man. It's supposed to be
almost like, you know, the superstar of this franchise in
this organization. So now he's playing really good baseball. I
think he had in whatever game he was yesterday of
the day before, he had like two hits, runs, a
home run. RBIs breaking up a little bit, he is.
He's playing really well, and he's playing really good at
first base because he's a third base guy. He's playing

really good at first base because I feel like he's
like a guy that's I want to play baseball and
I want to do well with this team, so I'm
gonna do whatever takes right. And I think that's kind
of the thing too. You have a lot of guys
who maybe have not played positions before and they're stepping
into these roles really well.

That's what again, Shelty's cooking and he's just like mixing
and shuffling the cards up, and he's just like, you
know what, you could be here, you could be there.
Anybody can be anywhere, and so far it's working out
for the Twins. I think they're off until what like
Friday or something like that, as an All Star break

are worth it, and you want Quinn Hughes and you're
gonna want Carill even though a lot of people are
skeptical about how he's gonna play with Zuki he's a
great player. He'll survive, He'll figure it out. It's gonna happen, right,
So yeah, I want Quinn Hughes and I want to
figure that out. But I do think we, in my opinion,
right now, move on from Dylan Larkin because I'm not
giving We're not giving up Matt Boldie. We're not giving

up Matt Boldie for Dylan Larkin. And that's the only
thing that it seems like they want. Dylan did put
into another team, the Dallas Stars. Yeah, so that could
be a thing if I literally can't do I told you,
I told my dad in the boat. I said, if

wanted to see an all time great do the last
thing that he hasn't done. And now it is completely turned.
Every single nation around the world that's completely turned on
Argentina and they hate them. So I was thinking, and

it's like vitriol, like people are. I mean, it takes
a lot for people to start rooting for England, you know.
So I was thinking about who is the team that
I've hated the most throughout my life, not like a
specific iteration of a team. I was like, Okay, the
Oklahoma City Thunder are up there. I honestly I despised them.
I despised the way that they play basketball. I was

watching a good Haye watch. Underrated part of sports is
the hatch?

Is your team winning at all? Right? None of us
know what that's like. But except for yeah, all you

Well, what did did Denny and priorly like have anything
good to say? Always? Yeah, of course. So I was thinking, like,
who is the team that I hated most throughout my life? Obviously,
packers are up there, bears are up there, lines are
up there. I weirdly and I think this is a
weird take. I grew up in Tennessee Titans fan, so
the Indianapolis calls the Peyton Manning led Indianapolis culture up there.

I think I hated the Tim Duncan san Antonio Spurs.
You Like, that's like more than I should have. He's
I mean, he's like the most milk toast guy, you know,
like he's it a root board guy, not out spoken
about anything, He's not trash talking. He just literally puts
the jersey on and plays the game. And I hated

that because growing up I like the flashy play. You know,
my favorite players in the NFL are Ochell Singko. They
were throughout all wins. You know what I'm saying. I
like Allen Iverson in the NBA.

I said we have more in common than people think.

We couldn't be more opposite because you go right for
like a Tim Duncan kind of guy, the guy that
just plays.

The gamelayer more than I would her personality more than
Olivia Miles, although I think they're both great.

Unbeloles look like the personality.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
The personality I gravitate Mores toward feet than towards a mine.

He could three sixty windmill dunk on you and she's
not going to say a word, you know. And Olivia
Miles first year in the league's she's telling you you
can't bleep in guard again, and you know, get out
of my face. And I love. That's always the player
that I grew up loving. That's why I look at
this new iteration of the Timberwolves, Lamello Ball, Anthony Edwards.

They're gonna be all the young dudes favorite. They would
have been my favorite team. And if they weren't already
my favorite team, I hated Tim Duncan and the San
Antonio spot casual.

Some smart He's sitting there and he's like, what right, I'm.

Tired of the team. Basketball. I want to see you
shoot on triple team, you know, like Kobe, which I
hated Kobe too, But that's the small suit because it
was I did for a long time until I started

Actually I kind of I kind of messed with you.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
Yeah, I think I was just hating Bro. I think
I was just but that was a personal thing because
he was always the Lakers are always being the tembrel.

The one story of him when he was playing with
us A and he ran through pow Gasol.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
Yeah, he's like learning.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
He's like, I'm running right through that guy.
Speaker 2 (33:53):
He learned another language just so he could trash talk somebody,
you know. I mean, that's that's brilliants.

That type of rights.

That's what I love about sports, the big personality of
the theater of it all. You know. So I think
that that era of San Antonio Spurs basketball. I don't
think a lot of people will agree with me, but
that was my most hated team of all time. Do
you guys have one off the top of your head,
like a specific not just a team itself, but a
specific era of a team. I just hated the team basketball.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
I just hated a layup, So yeah, I hated especially
the dynasty Chicago Blackhawks during Patrick Caine, Jonathan Taves, screw
those guys. So they just no matter how good, no
matter what the Wild did, no matter what moves they made,
they could sign Parisian suitor, and it was just a
buzz said every time we went there. I mean literally,
there's this sound. I have it on my button bar

I do that and the teeth chattering, because every time
you play them in that era, it would just clabor us.
It would there'd be no chance we're going to a
playoff game. Wild Blackhawks, and it was just classic Minnesota Wild.
They had all the chances, they had, all the possession,
They hitting posts and dis can't score. And then Patrick
(35:10):
Kanes skates down one time, shoots scores, we lose one.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Nothing.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
It's just you can't make it up.
Speaker 3 (35:15):
You can't make it up.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Odd.

The Chicago Bears up there for me as well, for sure, because.

It's kind of like a hate trying sort of a
love triangle. It's almost like a hate triangle with the
like you GRIBs the Packers, fram hate the Bears more
than you hate the Vikings.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
I don't even hate the Vikings at all. I have
no of course, obviously I don't hate the Vikings at all.
I hate the Bears with everything in my body. And
on a quick soccer note, I can't stand personal with
and now that's that's become a thing because they they're
just they play the game so cowardly.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
It's wow.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
In the in the Super Bowl of Europe, they go
up one goal and they literally just said we're not
even going to touch the ball anymore. And it was
like ten minutes in and I go, nope, we're done,
and they would just boot it down the whole way.
They're cowards. Anyways, I hate them too. There they suck.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
What about you, MURSA, who is like the team that
you a specific iteration, a specific era of a team
that you just you think of it and your skin
just crawls and you want to scream and say non
FCC things into the microphone.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
This one's kind of a pol This one's kind of
a pole guys. Uh like Tom Brady Julian Edelman.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
Yeah wrong, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
I didn't like them because.

They were so good. They were so good. They were
a dynasty like every time, like you would You're just
like I I hate how good because I want to
be them. It's a jealousy thing. It's an everything at
the end of the day. And I'm just like, I
literally like hated Tom Brady in like middle school.

The difference between them, Like you hear people do that
with the Chiefs too, Yeah, Chiefs don't cheat.

The Patriots were literally.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
Caught cheating several times between them played ball. The under
inflated balls the spy gave the Chiefs are just good
hot take.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
I kind of loved the cheating scandals. I listen, I
appreciate a good villain.
Speaker 1 (37:11):
You did say yesterday you were so proud that you
cheat it.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
Uno, I do cheat it, Uno, absolutely, yeah, absolutely, listen.
I would be the heel if it was wrestling, I'd
be the villain. I got told Brent. Sometimes you keep
the conversation going, you sneak a little nine on top
of the six. Nobody even noticed. Nobody knows you know
you got you got twenty cards in your hand. All
of a sudden, you got you know, three turns later,

it's you know, how the hell is it? Knowause I'm
stacking two three at the same time. Nobody even knows
nobody else. Sometimes I could appreciate a good villain. And
what I liked about the Patriots is that there was
always they weren't dominant. They were dominant, like you knew
they were going to be in the AFC Championship or
in the Super Bowl, but every single one of those
Super Bowls, Tom Brady had to go down the field
(37:58):
and win the whole day. Like they weren't blowing teams out.
That's I hated the Golden State Warriors when they got
Kevin Durant. I love Steph Curry coming up. You know,
they did it the right way first, and then Kevin
Durant got there, and I hated it because it was
a foregone conclusion. You knew it for three or four years.
You knew it was going to be Warriors versus Cavaliers,
and they were just dominating everything. And that's what I hated.
(38:19):
I like the drama, but at least having hope that
the villain can go down, which I think the Patriots.
They weren't impenetrable. You know, they were dominant, but they
weren't impenetrable, And that's kind of what I liked about
the Patriot But I would say That's that's got to
be the classic answer, right, is everybody kind of just
hates that Patriots.

They kind of hate the Patriots. Yeah. And I would
also say to the Houston Astros, yeah that again, that one,
the cheating one again. Okay, Max, we're fighting now, cheating.

I loved it doing. I grew up watching Maury. Okay,
that's where all that's where all the drama came from.
