Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yea, So tell us about jelly Bean. You're English bulldog,
(00:37):
but beloved jelly Bean, you're English bulldog.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
I feel like I could talk for hours about jelly Bean.
Do you love jelly Bean more than anything?
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Do you love Archie? I love Archie, yeah, and I
love Fat Teddy too, But I don't think we love
Archie and Fat Teddy the way the way you love
jelly Bean.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
She's been with me since COVID. So I got her
my junior year of college, when there.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Was what she looked like wearing a mask.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Fabulous. She can barely breathe anyway.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
So, oh, one of those one of those pushed and snouts.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
She's got a little squished face.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Oh, so she snores at night.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
She snores a lot. She's like my sound machine. I
love it, like I'm used to it. Without her, I
can't really sleep really. Yeah, it's horrible. So I got her.
Then I told my dad, Dad, I'm gonna get a dog.
He said, absolutely not. He's like, I'm not taking care
of her.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
So you were with dad at that time.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
No. I just called him and I was like, Dad,
I think I'm gonna get a dog, and he.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Was like, Dad, I also like to travel, So I'm
gonna need jelly Bean to be over at your house
for like five, five consecutive days every so long. And
I said, right there.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
And I also played college hockey, so we're gonna be
gone about every single weekend.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
So he was like absolutely no, and he was wrong.
She's the best and he absolutely loves her.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Loves her.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
You were like, dad, duh exactly. So it was the
I purchased. I worked all summer at Red Lobster to
get her.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
So that's phenomenal. I mean that piece of contrition right there,
that was beautiful. I spec Shutter Bay Biscuits, Holy Catain Biscuits.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Exactly like I would go to five am practice right
to Red Lobster. So I worked hard for Jellybean.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Yeah, that's Nordo and I have had some strange culinary
timing experiences. I don't know if doing something that's physically
taxing and or mentally grinding and then heading to Red
Lobster at eight, nine to ten in the morning, I
don't know if that'd be on the list. No, I don't.
I don't think it would be. This is Olivia King.
Is it fair to describe Olivia King with Youth Hockey Hub.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Yeah, I mean, I mean I work with Youth Hockey
Hub really closely.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Like every time I say it, I feel like I'm
saying something wrong.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
No, I mean I work with them super closely. They're awesome.
I freelance kind of for everybody, you know. I feel
like that's just the nature of what I do and
where I'm at right now.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
So, when Tony Scott was in the studio earlier in
the week, should the surrogate have negotiated a full time
Youth Hockey Hub roll? Did?
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Did?
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Did we ball it? The opportunity was there right in
front of us?
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Yeah? What the heck?
Speaker 3 (03:10):
No.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
I I love, you know, being a small part in
a lot of different roles. I think that's just me.
You know, I do so many different things. I you know,
I do my podcast obviously, I'm on their Women's hockey pod.
I do some you know, Sideline with Youth Hockey Hub
and color.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Stuff nine to noon productions, Yes, this radio show.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Exactly, and I do you know, the Gopher stuff. So
I'm kind of all over the board, and that's the
way I like it, I think.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
So, So you're saying you don't want full time employment
for any of them.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Well, say, hey, I'm not I'm not putting that. I'm
not putting that in the air, but I'm just saying.
I'm just saying I like where I'm at and I'm
excited for the future, obviously, so we'll see what comes
of it.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Okay, Well, the way you laid that out, I think
Olivia King Youth Hockey Hub and the Talk Goalie to
Me podcast, I think those two will do because I mean,
there's a lot there, and it's like I knew there
was a lot, and I started to write it down,
I'm like, that's just too much to describe. By the way.
The segment at Olivia's inclusion nine to Now courtesy of
Metropolitan Ford in Eden Prairie for ninety four and five,
(04:24):
Eric Buerguard's the general manager and great time to take
a look at forwards previously owned or knew with truck month,
Metropolitanford dot com, Metropolitan Ford, It's your truck superstore. And
speaking of Metropolitan Ford and the general manager on one
of Olivia's recent Talk Goalie to Me podcasts, well, we
(04:47):
have Eric's son, Chase bejor Guard, who is the netminder
for the Dinah Hornets heading into the Boise State High
School Hockey Tournament today. How did the podcast go? How
do you know, Chase? What do you think of those
hornets over the next few days.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah, I had a great time talking to Chase, and
I'm releasing that today actually before their eight o'clock game.
I'll release it kind of pretty pretty close to six ish.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
But so that means it's not done.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Oh it's They don't say that.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
What time did they play? Eight?
Speaker 2 (05:22):
They play at eight?
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Yea, so people can learn about the goalie well in
advance of the game. What are we doing here?
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Your genius? Your genius.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
I'm not a genius. I'm stupid. I'm just trying to
I've just been stupid a long time in the same seat.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Okay, we'll say four then I can do that. But yeah,
it was super fun to talk to him. I mean,
he's so knowledgeable. He's been to eight state tournaments from
you know, whether that be football, hockey or baseball for
a Dina. You know, he just won the you know,
football state tournament for a Dina this fall and then
(05:55):
jumps touchdowns exactly, jumped right into hockey season and took
a little bit of a break to make sure he
was ready to play goalie, because you know, goalie is
such a weird position. You don't want to get hurt.
Last year he said he got hurt a little bit
when he jumped right into it. So yeah, I'm really
excited to watch him tonight. I have to be honest
(06:16):
that I am definitely a Northern girl, and I'm if
I if I had it my way, I might want
to see Grand Rapids and Morehead in the championship game.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Well jeez, but sounds like that's not a human across
from me. It sounds like a bet for supplemental income. Serious,
I'll give you both those teams. I'll take Beer Guard
and here we go. You didn't start the podcast with that.
I didn't More Edge. Are they both really good? More headge?
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Like the more Heads really good?
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (06:42):
Yeah, so they they'd meet tomorrow, wouldn't they? If if
a Dinah on Morehead both win? I think that's the
matchup on Friday.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
I think it is.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Yes, yes, when we had Tony Scott and that's that'd
be a rematch last year.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Yeah, is un freaking believable. Your boss at Youth Hockey
Hub brought brought in single a double A rackets. He
knows this to help us. Okay, he walks in the studio,
gives me the brackets. I go, how much I thought
I was like joining a youth hockey hub like pool
or something.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
You're betting on the bracket?
Speaker 1 (07:12):
How much? I still got them? Yeah? And he said, no,
it's just for your reference. I said, And all of
a sudden I was like, Okay, cool, I got that
on the computer.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Honestly, we should start that like March Madness. But maybe
that's inappropriate because they're amateurs.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Well, see, I like the envelope you're pushing here. You
got to the right answer at the end, which would
be no. The answer would be because you have access
others don't have, so you're kind of fixing the race.
But Nina new really likes the envelope pushers. I do
kind of like that push envelope a little bit at
the at your age, which which is really really good
(07:48):
Olivia king you hockey up and about a thousand other things.
So with talk Callie to me the podcast. Did the
Dinah Hornets goaltender? Did he share with you his sports
related plans are after he graduates from me Dinah?
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Honestly, I feel like I had heard so much talk
of him for sure being one hundred percent on playing
baseball in the future. Eight yeah, because that was like
his his sport.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
And I hear Topeka's nice in the baseball season.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
And I think like throughout.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Talking with him, I mean, Lawrence, sorry, go ahead.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
He was. He was pretty open. I mean, I think
baseball is still like definitely up there.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
But it hits the ball, it goes four hundred feet,
that's insane. But he's really good at football too, and
he's really good at hockey. And he doesn't do a lot.
And I've known Chase since he was in middle school,
so I feel like he's kind of a surrogate one
of the he's just so naturally blessed and gifted, and
he doesn't really do much with any of the sports.
(08:52):
Between the sports, you know, he like he's a kid.
You know, I get a chance to be a kid,
get a chance to be a teenager. Oh by the way,
I get finals and stuff like that that I got
to deal with. But that's what That's what I've always
liked about Chasing his father, Eric and the Bureauard family
is they don't they don't push him like he's this
plug in the machine and then now we got this
(09:14):
speed training, Now we got this massive weight training, now
we got this hand eye coordination. For Lawrence, you know,
they just let him be a kid between sports.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
I think that's the big message by just looking at
his like high school career overall, is how important it
is to be a multi sport athlete and how that
helps you in your other sports. And I think for him,
obviously he's super athletic, so he's able to do all
those different things. He doesn't need to play hockey year
(09:44):
round like you know, other families may think is a
need for a kid to only play hockey all the time.
I'm not saying that's wrong, but I'm just saying I
think I think it's good to mix in other sports
because that's where you meet your community, and that's where
you start to care a lot about about your community
(10:05):
as a whole. And it was really cool for me
to talk to him about aDNA too and talk talk
about how important that win for you know, this fall
was for them in the football community because Adynah is
always known for their hockey and so I think that
that was cool too, and how much he really cares
(10:26):
about their community. It was. It was really interesting to
talk about and I love a multi sport athlete. I
think that's what keeps you from getting injured too, is
just moving your body in different ways. And so so
it was, it was awesome. It was a it was
a great conversation.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Stupid potential. Stupid question. Number one, the Delano hockey team
that I watched last night, that single ay, right, yeah
it is, yes, Okay. Anybody happened to know what the
final score that thing was? It was one zero when
I stopped watching, looked like it was on route to
being like eleven to one.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
And they all had the tiger hair.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Yes, I'll admit.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
I turned it off when it was five to two,
so it was five to one point. Yeah, so so
my beloved scarlets, they tried. What a season to the scarlets.
Cheers to you Mankida West Uh the bottom fell out
in the third period, so I turned it off when
it was five too.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Who's their best player?
Speaker 3 (11:20):
I might be their goalie Brecky, I think, oh yeah,
is the one that stood.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Out and they were peppering Brecky early. But here's the question,
So that's single a right, yes, okay, Now that Delano
that Delano first line that I watched last night play
basically the entire I mean it was you talk about
double shifting, I mean we got double and triple shifting
or however you want to explain it. They played a
lot and they're good. I mean that first group that
(11:47):
Delano has, Like, how would it compete with more head
EDNA teams like that?
Speaker 2 (11:54):
I mean, I think, you know, even in single A,
there's really good hockey and there's really good hockey players,
especially like at a place like Delano. It's it's not
like a lot of those kids are leaving or you know,
you know, going to play juniors early or going exactly exactly.
(12:17):
So I think like a top line could definitely compete
with a top single like double A line death, But
I think it's a lot more to do with depth.
I mean, you just have a lot more to choose
from at the double A level with a bigger town,
you know, And so it just depends, and I think
(12:39):
a lot of it is hard to say now that
moving around in high school hockey is so popular. Uh,
it didn't used to be like that as much, but
now it's just kind of people bop around and find
where they fit best. And you know, not that I
fault anyone for doing that. I think, you know, especially
with you know, they're a private schools in the Minnesota
(13:01):
State High School League and they can recruit players. So
I think it's just kind of a gray area.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
How about that line though, So it's Brady Kangis and
Daniel Hallinan, all right, and then it's got to be
his brother.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
There were three Hallanin's. Yeah, there's got brothers and a cousin.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
There's a Lance Hallinan, and then there's a junior Bennett Hallinan.
But Kangis thirty one goals, Lance Hallinan twenty three, Dan
Hallenan forty one.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
I mean that's north of one hundred sheets.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Got one hundred goals on that line, and you can
just add the assists up as well.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
Yeah, that's unbelievable line for Delano. Now you mentioned the
tiger hair with Delano. You know, my man had his well,
one of the guys had his hair like down to
basically a crew cut or very very short, and then
like had it done orange and black like a tiger.
It was kind of sweet. Yeah, you can't see it
during the game with the helmet obviously, but it was
(13:54):
the skate up bit last time we got together, you know,
when you played at Excel Energy as a goaltender for Brainer. Right, Okay,
so you're in the state tournament and I'm like, what
was it like when you skated up to the camera
and you hear it was number one, number one goaltender
(14:14):
Olivia King and you skate up like Hi Grandma, Hi Mom,
Hi Dad, that kind of stuff, and you said, you know,
you didn't freak out, but you're like nervous up to
it because it's weird. Well, we watched them all the time.
Sports Center with ESPN picks up on them yearly. This
time it's hockey hair season in the state of Minnesota,
and they'll show a bunch of a bunch of different things.
(14:35):
I noticed this with the ladies last week, and then
so far with the guys, I haven't seen as much,
but we'll see more today. A lot of them are
skating up and not saying anything, and they're mean mugging
the camera. So I'm like, okay, I mean, maybe there's
something here that I'm not getting, you know, with mom
and dad or grandma. I mean, you got to have
somebody you can say hi to. As opposed to skating
(14:56):
up to the camera and the mean mug, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
I feel like it used to be a lot of
just the hair, but now the antics have really haven't
really gotten into it.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Are they aura maxing? They're they're what's aura maxing? There?
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Looks maxing and they're aura maxing out there aura.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
Yeah, so they're telling us they have aura.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Well they're showing you.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Okay, you know, I guess that's aura. It's all attitude exactly.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
So there's a lot more attitude in it than there
used to be. Yes, So you don't really see the
hey mom, hey dad anymore.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
And when you do see it and the girls blush,
You're like, that's it. That's real, that's authentic, that's natural.
That's not aura bursting, busting maxing, whatever it is, you
know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
Exactly. It's so funny. I think when they go up
to the line and they like pretend they can't skate.
I saw that a few times yesterday, or they'll do
like the pizza stop, they really pull out, Like I
wonder if they practice these they have to, Because I
was nervous skating up there and like smiling, I didn't
even know what to do, and they're like putting on
(16:05):
a full production.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
So yeah, I don't know. There's no chance you lose
your edge on that straight skate, right.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
I mean no, there is a chance. I've seen it.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
That'd be great, And so I don't know.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
We'll see the rest of the tournament what everybody chooses
to do. But I love that they do like the
full line up because you get to see everyone and
it's super funny. And especially for the goalies. I feel
like the backup goalies will sometimes throw in something crazy
because you know they're they don't really need to be super, super,
(16:39):
super focused. So I've seen a few crazy stuff from
backup goalies too in the past, So we'll see. Or
the managers, Yeah, there was a few good manager fits too.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Yesterday Olivia Christen King you with Hockey Hub, by the way,
on calling a game tonight. We'll get into that more.
We'll get into that a little later, but because it's
it's tonight, right, Gophers in Ohio state, Yes, sir? And
what what is the the Lee and Penny whatever, like
Lee and Penny Anderson Arena? What is that at St.
(17:09):
Thomas's rank?
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Ye?
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (17:11):
St. Thomas's brand new rink, so.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
They playing at the regular spot.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Well they change it every year for like the conference tournament. Okay,
so that's what it is this weekend, it's the Frozen
face off. So it's the w c h A Conference tournament,
and Wisconsin will play man Cato. Man Cato beat Duluth
last weekend, upset them in a three game series, and
then Ohio and the Gophers will play tonight at seven thirty.
(17:40):
But yeah, the first game is is that for it's
Wisconsin Mankato and then they'll play on Saturday at two
the winner of both those games for for the you know, well.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
The Buckeyes are two. Frosty's team is a three, so
from a from from a rankings like a positioning standpoint,
Ohio State, I guess is supposed to win this game
and play Wisconsin. I didn't look back at the game
logs to see how Frosty's team did against the Buckeyes
during the year. But Olivia, our beloved Olivia is going
to be the analyst for Gophers Ohio State this evening.
(18:13):
I went to the I went to gophersports dot com
Women's Hockey and there is a listen live tab that
you can hit. So you can listen to Olivia this evening.
Is that? Is that a fair way to describe it?
Best way to listen to it?
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Oh yeah, yep, that's like the Gopher radio way tonight.
So it'll be super fun. Obviously, we're getting down to
it with playoffs and everything, which is absolutely crazy. And
we've got a lot of hockey going on in Saint
Paul with that tournament and then the boys state tournament. Yep,
so I'm really excited. But you know, last weekend, Abby
(18:47):
Murphy became the all time leading scorer for the Gophers
with one hundred and forty one goals.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
And they lost that first game to Saint Cloud. Right
then they had to win the next two just to
get to tonight, right exactly.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
They got upset in that first game and it was
an overtime game. It was, yeah, and it ended up
being one nothing against Saint Cloud, which is crazy for
the Gophers to not be able to score any goals.
You know, historically that's not been the case. And then
those other two games they came out and won and
(19:20):
it was it was honestly, it was a good series.
But I'm excited for tonight. I think it'll be a
really good game against Ohio. I mean number two and
number three playing against each other, yep, so it should
be good.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
What do you like about doing rinkside reporting, like say,
last weekend TV Fox nine plus Frosty's team beat Saint
Cloud in that three game series. What do you enjoy
about that?
Speaker 2 (19:45):
I absolutely love being the rnkside reporter because it feels
like game day again, especially because it's live. It's like
you either know your stuff where you don't know your stuff,
and you only have about a minute or thirty second
to really showcase.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
That somebody in your ear when you're talking yep, exactly.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
And so that's what I that's what I really love
about it. It's like you need to be prepared and
just like in a game, you need to be prepared
and ready to go. And as a goalie, it's like
you have five seconds to showcase, you know, if you're
going to save that pucker, if you're k not going,
and so it's like very similar in that way. So
(20:25):
I had a really good time last weekend with those
three games, and I'm looking forward to tonight obviously.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
How do you prep for these games like with tonight?
Quick Twitch top of the head, don't have to look down,
like what do you know as of now for tonight exactly.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
I think that the way that I prep for like
being a ringside reporter, is so much different than the
way I would prep for color. It does help, obviously
that I played for the Gophers and it was so recent,
so I have so I feel like I have a
lot of knowledge about Gopher history, so that's super fun
to bring up. And even knowledge about my friends. I mean,
I played with a lot of them, Abby Murphy included,
(21:03):
and I feel like we never stopped talking about her
on the broadcast, and rightfully so. But I normally prep
for the other team a lot, and it's more so
like doing your homework and studying for a test. And
I'll write notes and do that stuff, but I can't
really never get in exactly. I can't really look at them.
(21:23):
It's like either you know it or you don't know it, yep,
because you don't have time to Oh, let me just
fumble through my notes for five minutes and then I
miss my chance.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Yeah, but think about it. I mean, if I understand
what you're saying, but I mean, if you're on if
you have a forty eight second hit on Fox nine plus,
Well the first six seconds maximum is going to be
on camera, maybe three to six, Well memorize that part.
They'll read off the notes.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
Yeah, for the rnside reporter, that's usually like I usually
have a lot more leeway to you know, read off
something or it depends on the hit if it's on camera,
if it's off. But yeah, when you're doing color, it's
a lot of like you don't really know when the
moment's gonna come. Is that you could have something on
deck that you really want to say, but it might
(22:13):
not make sense in that moment. So that kind of depends.
But I love the fact that, you know, I've had
such a great outlet and so many opportunities this season
to get better. It's just like hockey, like we practice
so much, and that's all I have really been hoping
for this year was a lot of practice, and thankfully
(22:34):
I've had so many great people in my corner to
do so.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Mm. Well, we wish you well and we look forward
to seeing you soon maybe next week for a box
in the box, not sure about the timing, and have
a good time tonight with a Frosty's team and the Buckeys.
And we'll see you soon.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
Right. Amazing, thank you Pa.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Amazing, she says. It's Olivia King with a youth hockey hub,
also an analyst and does rnkside analyst for college end

and Gentry Academy at Grand Casino Arena.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
That's Cash Hardy with sophomore again.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
Rebound goal popped out right in front the Cash Hardy
and he just found a corner.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
As we looked for.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
The replay, it was right in the slot and he
was fighting his way with the defenseman of Gentry the
whole time puck jumps out at him.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Wows top side blocker right nice, right time.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
But they have noticed Minnetaka being that these pucks are
not getting handled right away by Gentry and they are
waiting for these rebounds.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
Just spun around and Buck just was right there right
down this right time. But hey, where is their right
place and gotta go to the net. Gotta be in
front of the net. And let's goal number seventeen now
for Cash Hardy.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
Of the season.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
It really seems like that has been Minnetaka's game plan
coming in and you.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Could hear all the action live via ninety six seven
the plus. You hear it there the goal from Cash
Hardy as we went through yesterday when I was filling
in for Pa. The game's going on live, so just
so you know, maybe we'll do live listen ins if
you're gym in Mounds Via or wherever you were, Jim,
there may potentially be spoiler, So I hate to break
(25:01):
it to you. I know you want to tape it
and watch it at home later in the day, but
it's happening now. And on ninety six seven our sister station,
The Plus, you can listen and here's Zach Halverson on
the call as Minnetaka has taken a one nothing lead.
That's the one to eight matchup. You get Rose Mountain
Grand Rapids at one thirty, you got Morehead, you got
(25:22):
the Spuds in Lakefille South. In the evening affair at
six before eight thirty, you have a Dinah in andover.
So we're gonna be covering all of that for you here,
just as we've been covering Minnesota Vikings and really NFL
free agency. I mean we're we're on the eve of
it in some respects, as the legal tampering period will
(25:43):
kick off on Monday, free agency slash the league year
opening in earnest on Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
But we know how this works. By the time Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
Hits, we're gonna have a lot of information and we're
gonna have a lot of names in front of us
to feast on. And MPa was running down earlier in
the show that list one hundred free agents via via
ESPN just upcoming free agents. You know what list season,
it's always in vogue and ESPN something for us to
(26:11):
sink our teeth into with that one hundred free agents
as it is, But a lot of those conversations, as
we'll continue, not just today but during the Friday feast,
it's kind of we kind of got to wait for
the dominoes themselves to fall and still just kind of
chewing on whether you know you're you're in cap hell
at this particular moment. The Minnesota Vikings happened to be
so change is the name of the game, and we
(26:33):
heard about Aaron Jones. You're going to save seven million
in change with with Aaron Jones departing, love him, love
his leadership, that opens a spot there from the running
back conversation Javon Hargrave, you save eleven million moving on
from him. And then this Jonathan Allen news popping yesterday
Adam to the list, as Kevin Seffert said, you save
(26:54):
about six and a half with that. That's a little
more head scratching in terms of moves that I've seen
and that i I'm aware of thus far. But then
that with the potential rumors of a trading Jonathan Grenard,
those dominoes potentially falling next week, kind of then transition
into ooh, hey, Bradley Chubb's available. Hey, ooh, how about
(27:16):
this ed Ingram? Did you see the work of Houston
Texans guard ed Ingram in twenty twenty five. Don't know
if you've ever heard of him, but he's going to
be potentially available next week. But the dominoes having to
fall from our favorite team transitioning to this list of
free agents that are looking to be available next week,
all mixing into it for your favorite team, and frankly
(27:38):
that that doesn't even include the quarterback quandary, the quarterback
of dilemma as it exists for the Purple right now too.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
So Eddie Ingram's on that ESPN list. I just can't
find him. He's number fifty six. Yeah, he's number fifty
six right now? Why do they bring back old Ed?
Speaker 3 (27:54):
We don't need Ed? You know why? Got Will Fries,
got Donovan Jackson too. We got Donovan Jackson. Absolutely. Did
you mention what is taking place with the Bears? I
have not mentioned that somewhat breaking news.
Speaker 5 (28:08):
No.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
I was doing a little live listening with with Minnetaka
and Gentry and then just kind of made the script.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Thank you, clipping move to the NFL. So I mean
just I want to say amazingly, but that's the wrong word. Strangely,
that'd be the wrong word too, because I don't know
anything about Drew Dolman, but the Bears, their bally Hoots center,
Drew Dahlman retired two days ago. Yeah, like at age
twenty six or twenty seven. He just retired. So they
(28:36):
got that with which to deal crazy news. Well, it's
the the NFC North. I mean, there are so many
talkers in the NFC North, not only about the casting
of the gays, with what's coming up for the Vikings
and all of them, but the a prized free agent
(28:56):
hit by the Bears last year, Drew Dahlman retires, and
now we're fifteen minutes ago, Chefty tweeted ESPN. ESPN sources
the Chicago Bears are working to finalize a trade that
would send wide receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills.
Compensation still is being discussed, and the trade cannot be
(29:19):
processed until the new league year begins, which is next week,
but both sides are pushing to make it happen. So
when I said, the Chicago Bears are working to finalize
the trade that will send wide receiver DJ More to
the Buffalo Bills. You laughed, you chuckled, And I know
why you chuckled, because the events up to free agency
(29:42):
this year have been it's abnormal. It's because it's like
we learn while we're at the combine. I mean, I
was in front of I think his last name is Cunningham.
I was in front during between segments or we're playing
a taped interview when the GMS were talking and and
I caught the tail end of the GM saying that
(30:04):
we are going to release Kirk Cousins first day of
the league gear and there's a zillion people there on
podcast row. So I'm like, I couldn't get close enough.
I'm like, I hear what I just heard then, and
Seaffert was there too, He just heard it and said, wow,
what way you think about that? And so you got that.
You got Chefty tweeting the Vikings are fielding calls for
(30:29):
edge rusher Jonathan Grenard. Where did that come from? Trent
McDuffie corner for the Kansas City Chiefs, which was the
centerpiece and they ended up being a centerpiece, and the
Tyreek Hill deal helping them win a Super Bowl and
I think playing too well, he's going to get traded
to the La Rams. Oh, David Montgomery and like eighteen
(30:52):
ish touchdowns or whatever the last couple of years. He's
going to the Houston Texans. So now you think of
the vision and Drew Petsing, former wide receivers coach here
offensive coordinator with the Cardinals, basically rolls into the Motor
City Davy and says to Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes
the GM I only need one and it's that one. Yeah, Oh,
(31:16):
we can trade him. Okay, So they're going to trade
David Montgomery. That was a nice little one two punch
they had there. Indeed, and now this DJ more news. Okay,
DJ messed up at the end of their final game
with a kind of a lackadaisical route on a ball
that got picked. But nevertheless, DJ second half of his career,
DJ can ball again. I'm a DJ Moore fan from AFAR,
(31:38):
especially when they line him up in the backfield. That's
tricky as bleep.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
Twenty million salary though for six and eighty receiving yards
right in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
First and that's key because first year with Ben what
happens Roma Duneesa jumps out of his skin. He's the
most talented of all of them. Yeah, you've heard in
Loveland and you just guys jumping up right. But see,
I mean it's for those who listen frequently and Nordos
always here. You've heard me say this eight million times.
(32:08):
But nevertheless, it was new for the Chicago Bears, and
it worked. The thirteen personnel single back with three tight ends.
And like even Courtney Cronin at the combine when we
sat down with Courtney who covers the Bears for ESPN,
when I said, when I was talking about the three
tight end bit, what Ben pulled out of it? She
(32:28):
like smiled when I said, Durham Smythe. Okay, Durham Smith.
Nobody cares about Durham Smith until you're in a playoff
game and they're running a stretch play with swift or
some type of some type of cutback requiring a wham
block from a tight end, and there's Durham smythe that's
all he does, and he does it very well. Then
(32:50):
you got Cole Comet So I loved how they use
their tight ends, but I also loved how they used
their center. And he retired and now now DJ Moore
is going to be on the Alamidas. The Kias is
also a free agent for them. But this, this right
here is all right. We might be bored with you.
DJ didn't like that last route you're in. And the
(33:12):
other guy, the one from Missouri heading into a second year, well,
he's gonna cost a lot of money one day. And
so it was Rome. So we got to start saving
our nickels and dimes. And I think Luther Burden had
a little little bit to do with this too.
Speaker 3 (33:23):
No, I think, well that's that's That was the one
name I was trying to find, but I couldn't grab
it in my head.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
Luthor Burdon showed out a little bit.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
Yeah, and again from a final and now that you're
fast Drew Dolmon's gone.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
By the way, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
Does that immediately put the Bears in a spot where
they're looking at the top of blonder bombs of the world.
What's their cap situation they were under? I have no
idea what it currently is. I thought they were like
three four they were under. I just remember all NFC
North teams being under Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
Uh, not to the degree of the purple, of course.
Maybe Ben Johnson is so diabolically good. He convinced drew
them in to retire so you can go find Linderbaum
from the Ravens. I mean that would be as maniacal
and diabolical as you possibly can imagine. Can I hear
some Helvey? Please let me? Well, let's see if because
(34:14):
I know the period's near the end here, Tavy, what
would you change about that? First grade? It's over who's leading?
It's minnetaka up one nothing on gentry? All right? Well,
go Helvey? Where can people listen to that? On ninety
six to seven plus and the plus? Absolutely? Jalen Watson Cornerback,
Kansas City Chief thirteen, ESPN dot COM's Free agency list
(34:36):
twenty seven into twenty into twenty twenty six. It's not
a high end playmaker, are they right? But he has
the length to challenge, impress and the route awareness to
admit it's all boring. Jalen Watson, what do you think?
I don't know much about him. I know that they
were pumped that they got him in the seventh round.
Got a ton of value.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
I'm shocked that the chiefs aren't doing everything they can
to resign them.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
So that's not a desire covet or juice box. It's
not it's not a desire. No Malik wellis no Devin Lloyd,
linebacker Jaggs. Oh, I gotta I gotta learn more about him.
But in terms of what this team needs, he's an
inside guy. I believe saw him make some plays defensive
defense for the Jags. Was game this year, five interceptions
(35:20):
last year for Devin Lloyd.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
Yeah, it feels like it feels like that's going to
be spendy. At this stage, I say, I do not
desire seventeen Kyler Murray.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
Well, it's I don't know how to desire. Said, you
just had It's radio so people can't see it, but
I can. You just had a compensated anxiety attack when
I brought up Kyler Murray desire.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
Well, it's definitely. It's not that I covet Kyler Murray.
I covet the QB room being better. If it's him,
it's him. And if it's him, it's him. Yes, if
it's him, it's him, yep. I love Isaiah likely though
hold on Murray, who played in only five games last
season due to a foot injury, spect to be released
by the Cards the start of the league year when healthy,
(36:03):
Murray has the talent to produce in a system that
maximizes his dual threadability. Systems that maximize his dual threadability interesting,
and he should draw strong interest as a free agent.
In seven seasons with Arizona, he threw for one hundred
and twenty one touchdowns ran for thirty one hundred ninety
(36:23):
three yards. You know, I'm curious, what do you look
at Kyler as a runner? I look at him as
being mobile as he buys himself time back there. But
if you remember earlier in his season, I don't have
it up. He had a couple of years there, his
first couple where it was like he had sixteen rushing.
Speaker 1 (36:40):
Touchdowns or some big number, right, yep.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
I don't see him as that, Like I mean when
I think, when I think dual threat, He's a scrambler.
He's a scrambler. He's not a runner, at least not
runner first. But to be a scrambler is that a
good thing? Because if you're scrambling, one of two things
is happening. Either the protection in front of you broke down.
You picked up on it. Now you've got to run around,
(37:04):
or you're a one slash two read quarterback. Yeah, and
if your first two reads are covered, then you start
running Willy Nilly pointing down the field eighteen saying, just run,
I'm gonna throw it. Yeah, And it almost seems instinctual,
where when it's not there, he's going. So if you do,
if it's him, it's him.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
To him, it's him.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
How do you change that instinct or do you become
okay with it because of the athleticism Isaiah Likely?
Speaker 1 (37:30):
Is that a desire for you?
Speaker 3 (37:32):
I would love Isaiah Likely on this team. Well, I
mean especially I don't know what the future holds for
t J.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
Hawkinson.
Speaker 3 (37:38):
I just think he is an absolute stone cold red
zone study, sitting on some big stuff, beefing up tight ends.
As we talked about. You know, they we got Josh
Oliver from the Ravens a few years ago. I think
overall I've liked Josh Oliver. Let's let's go after Isaiah
Likely too, all right? With the so, signing Isaiah Likely
means you have no Hockinson. That's possibly, that would probably
(38:01):
be it right nineteen Romeo Dobbs twenty six into next season. Yeah,
he's probably gonna be too expensive, really do you think?
I mean I mean, if you can't afford Jalen Naylor
at this spot, if you're thinking about moving on from him.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
On my point, Dobbs Nailer's faster than Dobbs. Dobbs has
more experience. His route running is good, but so as Jalen's. Yeah,
the that's a great point about And I mean if
Alec Pearce is going to get what Alec Pierce supposedly
is gonna get, Yeah, that's the greatest year in the
world for Romeo Dobbs to become a free agent. I'm bad.
Perfect timing for mister Dobbs. Blill Mack thirty five into
(38:38):
the twenty six. Yeah, we need to get younger. Same
Travis Ettien, junior running back Jags twenty seven into the
twenty six.
Speaker 3 (38:49):
There might be a little bit of a desire there.
I wonder what we're gonna do at running back. Pa
and at ten's impressive. He had some health issues early
in his career.
Speaker 1 (38:56):
Maybe he had twenty six runs last year of ten
or more yards, which was tied for the twelfth most
in the NFL. He's more than capable as a receiver
out of the backfield. Thirty six catches last year, He
had one hundred and sixteen total yards and a touchdown
in Jackson Bill's wild card lost to Buffalo Travis et
Chan Junior Desire Covet juice box con or No. At
(39:21):
this stage, I would say no. I'm intrigued, but I
can't say that I desire Brian Cook safety Chiefs twenty
seven into the twenty six. I don't know much about him.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
I do desire a safety, but I can't say that
it's mister Cook.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
Hey, I think you or we like this guy at
LSU into the draft. Calevon Chason, Yes, now with the
Patriots will be aged twenty seven. He's ESPN dot COM's
twenty fourth ranked free agent, former first rounder, career best
seven and a half sacks and thirty two pressures in
twenty twenty five, plus he added three more sacks in
the playoffs. Yeah, calevon Chason's a smart man. I would
(39:55):
des have a middling career for the first X amount
of years year career, become a free agent and blow
up in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
It's who knew, Yeah, and then make a ton of
cash from a new team. Maybe it'll be the Purple
I like kylevon chas On and getting the chance. I mean,
given that they went to the super Bowl watching a
hell of a lot more Patriots than I had the
last two or three years. Yep, Jason's kind of a badass.
I like him as a player, and well, what does
the future hold at that pass rushing.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
Spot for them? I'm noting on the trade bit. Yeah,
I'm not saying anybody's lying. I mean, it's I just yeah,
I mean, I can't see it happening.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
We're gonna find one of my favorite players. I love them,
We're gonna keep them. I think back after this, I.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Get wait, I can wait until tomorrow. Go Tomorrow. Man
very well be Julie Juwan Jennings at six three two thirteen,
Jennings is a consistent route runner who plays through contact
(40:58):
makes himself a bit I don't need to any of this.
Juwan Jennings is one of four that and we haven't
mentioned the other three at least as my taste goes.
But this is this is somebody that I started talking about,
I'd say about a month ago. I'm a Juwan Jennings fan,
always have been. I just I've learned a lot about
him from their vox, Greg Poppa and some other people
(41:22):
who know him, and I think Juwan Jennings is the
type of potentially cost effective player who could help the
Minnesota Vikings as a third wide receiver, as a galvanizing
locker room figure. Not that they need that, but that's
who he is. And you're not going to find many
tougher in the National Football League than ESPN's twenty fifth
overall unrestricted free agent coming up, Juwan Jennings. Damn man,
(41:46):
they got him all the way up at twenty five.
Twenty five. Yeah, I thought Juwan when I started talking
about this a month ago, I thought Juwan would be
a little more sneaky than top twenty five. But then,
like for those who say this ain't a great free
agent free agency here, I'm starting to understand why. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (42:03):
No, whether it's him, I mean, I'm looking more like
this Connor. I want to learn more about Connor McGovern.
For me, I didn't mean to be no, it's good.
I don't need to surprise you. I'm for what it's worth.
Juwan Jennings, Connor McGovern, Deebo, Samuel and Kenneth Gainwell, those
(42:25):
four right there, and their cost effective and I just
like their games. Well, the Gainwell bit with this team,
with this rushing attack, I think what they need Gainwell
makes the most sense, maybe financially, but also functionally given
how they.
Speaker 1 (42:38):
Use the running backs here. Desire, I'm in, I Desire.
I covered me some. Kenneth Gainwell stankk. Hey, thanks for
listening today. God bless you and your family's Friday football
feast tomorrow. Can't wait. FERNRDO and Paul Allen Letter. If
(43:01):
it's good news or money, leave the podcast Today's Paul
Allen Show How or listen back to previous show and
interview site going to the iHeartRadio app or TFA and
