Did you see the poster last night, pad.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Works, the crossover, the truck lay, the face of RJ Barrett.

Speaker 5 (02:22):
Hey, yeah, it was. It was a two handed masterpiece RJ.
Barrett and then just the screaming in his face as
Barrett's trying to inbound the ball and move on with his.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Life, just trying to reevaluate things.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
RJ.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Barrett was and Aunt just crushed him. It was awesome.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
The scream was of the Goodal Ilk and the Tea
Wolves beat the Raptors last evening after beating Memphis and
after going to Denver and handling the nugs.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Binchy, Binchy got the money last night. Well done.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
Heinze is at Vegas tonight and Colorado Sunday postseason class

acid tested for class in play Go Heinz, Go Heinz,
Go Hughesy and Go Budsy with Stay Locked tonight on

(03:17):

men and women in the Spuds Covenant to hooki Dina
tonight in the two way semis morihed with the Colon
Covenant and these studs, these kids who are studs named

(03:38):
Burgesson and Mickelson. Mickelson get the Hornets tonight around eight
with a chance to go back to back of state champs.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Pretty cool.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Meanwhile, the Hornets are prepared for the tired cake eater
chance Golie Chase. Beureguard has some brick wall to him
and his dad, Eric eb general manager of Metropolitan Ford,
wants he Dinah specifically to win this one this evening

(04:13):
so badly that I truly believe if God guaranteed a
w tonight against Morehead, Eric Beureguard might comp all of
his angels f one fifties.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
I always love that one.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
That one follows Minnetonka taking on these guys play.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
On here five on five. The Irish have the puck
as they leave the zone. They got some numbers as
they enter. It's a drop pass here the shots score
the Irish in overtime. It's Kate Sherman the hero for
rose Mount.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Perfect snipe right there for Kate Sherman. If your grand.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
Rapids, that's a tough one. Halvey on the call for
the Irish. Halvey's looking over for leave clover by the way.
In single A, the final four is comprised of Motamedi
and hitting Chisholm at eleven and Warroad Delano. After that
around one fifteen, find those games on ninety six seven

(05:15):
KFA N plus with Alvey looking over a four leaf clover.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Yeah, it's gonna be.

Speaker 5 (05:20):
It's gonna be Kevin Faulness doing the single A games.
So those early ones you mentioned, and then it will
be it will be have Halvey on the call.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Tonight for the two A games, the two A semis.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
Bucket list, Kevin, go get it today ninety six to
seven KFA and the plus or the free iHeart Audio
app or Single A and with those double as you
just heard about Hawvey looking over a four leaf clover.
Those double A games guaranteed human even with Halvey on
the call.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
I always love that one.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
This is nine to noon. We are feasting football and
free agency. One of the unrestricted free agents I would
like the Minnesota Vikings to investigate. Well, it happens to
be this guy ops that I left behind Aaron Rodgers
second a goal from the one prior move in motion
to the left handoff game Well, go shuttle left side
and he heads into the end zone touchdowns hits Perk.

(06:12):
Steelers Joshuwa Mtelis had a shot at him, but he
would have had to smack him because Gangwell had a
full head of steam and the Pittsburgh Steelers had taken
a six to three lead. That one was in Dublin,
and unlike Halve, we weren't looky nover or leave clover.
But Kenneth Gainwell had a big game, and for more

(06:34):
reasons than just that game, yours surely happens to be
moderately infatuated with running back Kenneth Gainwell. Why runs catches?
It doesn't cost a ton would compliment Jordan Mason nicely,
and you know, taking it even farther with a deep dive.
Not only would he compliment Jordan Mason nicely in the

(06:54):
Vikings backfield Kenneth Gainwell would give new running back Emma
Johnson a chance to grow and mature after they draft him.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Seven fridays from now.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
Gainwell should command like a two year, six million dollar deal. Yeah,
it doesn't seem like that much, right I would love
to have him in the covenant. There are more we
cove it and we have plenty of time to share,
and we will do so today and Monday, the opening
of NFL free agency. But for me, I'm going to

(07:30):
start with a couple of game changers like Niners wide
receiver Juwan Jennings and Steelers running back Canadatha game Well.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Why not?

Speaker 4 (07:38):
Who knew? And finally, the Bears are back in the news.
The Chicago Bears are back in the news. The Great
Courtney Cronin is reporting they are releasing rangy linebacker Tremaine
Edmunds KFA in Sports Talk Time nine oh eight. Tremaine Edmunds.

(08:05):
Edmunds has played a bevy of snaps for the Chicago
Bears in the last few years. If CC reports it,
it's going to come to pass. Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds to
be released by the Division Champions. So now your Bears
when this release goes official, they're gonna be like forty

(08:25):
six million dollars over the cap, under the cap, under
the cap, thank you free too, They'll be like forty
six million dollars under the cap, which could mean, yeah,
division champions absolutely have enough money for unrestricted unrestricted free
agent center Tyler Linderbaum.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
Stop.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Perhaps he's about to join the NFC North and after that,
because they got money, they could they got enough money
to house free agent defensive entro Ray Hendrickson. Stop, or
trade with the Raiders for defensive end Max Crosby, who
doesn't seem to want to don the silver and black anymore.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Stop.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
If the autumn wind is a Raider pillaging just for fun,
said gust might be blowing Crosby from the seven oh
two and right to the Chicago Football Bears. Linderbaum versus
New Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Peter Woods. I always love

(09:31):
that one. That might be epic. Woods is a rookie
three technique from Clemson. It is coveted by many. Be
sweet if he played here. Woods sneaky little move gets
around Lenderbaum. Down, goes Caleb Williams. Down goes Caleb.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
Stop. We need some money around here.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
We need some money. Can we get some money? Anybody
out there with any liquid, any extra money to provide
the football team in nine to new It's gonna be
a tough sell to do a gofund me for the
NFL team. But I know, but we got the weekend
and people look at social media a lot during the weekend,
So who knows, man, we might be able to raise
some Lenderbaum money after Yeah, So after the Bears release Edmunds,

(10:14):
man like like forty six million dollars under the cap.
According to spot rex bow Track, the rest of the
NFC North teams are all over the cap, all of us. Yeah,
and beloved bj Over in Chicago heads into the weekend thinking.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Alvi's looking over for.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Leaf Clover and I got all of us exactly, I
got all of them exactly where I want them. That's
beloved bj You got money buried in the moros of
being broke and having to deal with all of his
sweet plays. That might be the mindset of Ben Johnson
right now, All y'all are broke, and I'm going to

(10:57):
bury you in the moreaus of being broken having to
deal with all my sweet plays.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
That is until.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Nordo's guy Kyler rolls in here and assuming he can
see over the offensive line.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
I always love that one.

Speaker 4 (11:16):
Hits Jefferson for a multitude of middle zone plays that
provide yak in the way the league is astonished at
how well the connection seems to be working. Kyler did
JJ Kyler to Jefferson sounds good enough to eat.

Speaker 5 (11:31):
You know, that's one thing I haven't done yet with
this quarterback conversation. Do we have to go down the
offensive line and see what the height situation is and
if we're looking for a center and free agency, do
we have to find somebody that's a bit shorter, a
bit more stout.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
Yeah. Love the anchor you mean like gart Protection, You're
like Garb Bradberry. I like Garrett Bradberry.

Speaker 5 (11:51):
I always love that one, or at Ingram, at Ingram's
out there.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
We can start with Jurgens and just with a saw,
you know, cut him off top.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Of his ankles. That'll help.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
So Donovan Jackson might need to get up to the knees,
you have him, have him play that way, and hey,
if Kyler can see you over the line of scrimmage,
I'm telling you right now, those middle zone hits to
Jefferson and Addison and Juwan Jennings, with gain Well picking
up a Micah Parsons blitz. I mean not right there,

(12:25):
Holy God, I can't be excited with that, all right?
Three two NFL Free Agency Monday, nine to noon absolutely
is a musk for all of you. That day, oh right,
today is NHL trade deadline day. It's a big day
for the state of hockey. How about this? The New

(12:47):
York Hockey Rangers, the Red, White and Blue of hockey,
Madison Square Garden Immortality scratched Vincent Trocheck last night against
the Leafs. He was a healthy scrap and he's good.
And rumors are the Centerman is heading to either Carolina,

(13:07):
Minnesota or Los Angeles today. According to those in the know,
Rangers GM Chris Drewy would prefer to pedal the Olympian
to the Western Conference, so that might hurt the old
Carolina Caynes. So stay tuned for all that. We're on
top of everything, KFA in Sports Talk Times nine to fourteen,

(13:30):
order produces and I'm Paul Allen. Courtesy of timber Tech
and TimberTech dot Com. What's on deck nine to noon
includes some old school best school stories with a recently
retired writer and football immortality Peter King.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
That's around the corner.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
Jack Greenway stops by forty five minutes from now, and
actor and Vikings fan the great Adam Bartley is in
studio today at eleven o'clock and he has a new venture.
We think many of you are going to like. That's
nine to noon with Nordo and your truly Paul Allen
KFA in Sports Talk Time is nine fifteen. Halby's looking

(14:06):
over a four leaf clover and we're listening to Peter
King around the corner at FM one hundred point three kfan,
Happy Friday.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
All righty, now, let's hook up with one of our favorites.

Speaker 4 (14:24):
His name is Peter King, and Peter wrote for Sports
Illustrated for nearly thirty years and was a big part
of NBC's Sunday Night Football in America. He has recently retired.
Monday Morning Quarterback column was a weekly must read for many.
In fact, in the sassy vein of Monday Morning Quarterback,
some would say Monday Blues be damned. The dawn of

(14:48):
a new week appears MMQB. Yes, and Peter joins us, Now,
how have you been and how was my attempt at
a PK haikup.

Speaker 6 (15:00):
Was marvelous. The more haikous people do, the better, That's
what I always think. Hey, everything is going great. I
am now.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
Able to.

Speaker 6 (15:13):
You know what the biggest benefit of retiring after doing
that column for twenty seven years was the biggest benefit
by far is the fact that you know, if I
want to watch the Sunday night game, if it's good,
I watch it. If not, I walk the dog in
the middle of the second quarter, and by nine thirty

(15:36):
or quarter to ten, I'm in bed. And honestly, Paul,
there was nothing about the job that I hated at
all other than one thing or even mildly disliked, and
that is it got to a point where I just
didn't like working until three thirty or four thirty.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
In the morning anymore.

Speaker 6 (15:57):
And that is what was happening on Sunday night. So
NBC said, well, look, why don't you cut the column
in half and finish writing it at midnight? And if
there's a great Sunday night game, then you got to
write about it. How can you write a column without
writing about the Sunday night game. But anyway, whatever, blah blah, blah.

(16:18):
Life is good, and I just chose to focus my
efforts differently and had a good time writing this book.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
Yeah, and I would imagine you are. We're going to
get to the book momentarily it's called The Game, but
I would imagine you're ready for some with retirement, some
time at Fenway and rooting for your buloved socks.

Speaker 6 (16:37):
Right. Well, I probably you know, it's funny, I am
a Red Sox fan, but I probably have grown to
like the sport just as much as the Red Sox.
And by that, I mean, you know, I live in Brooklyn,

(17:00):
and so I can get on a subway and be
its City Field in about thirty five minutes, or can
get on a subway and be at Yankee Stadium in
about forty five. And I just I just love watching baseball.
I just I love it, and like I love when

(17:22):
I have trips that take me to various places, and
you know, I can find an excuse to go to
Target Field and walk by the sidheart and statue and
you know, and all that stuff. Those are the things
I really love because you know, honestly, one of the
great things about my job over the years, Paul, when

(17:42):
I was a kid growing up in middle of nowhere, Connecticut.
When I was a kid, our family didn't go on
many vacations, and we never traveled far and wide. And
I always thought to myself, how cool would it be
to be a journalist, where a sports writer or any
writer and be able to travel and see different parts

(18:04):
of the country. And that never has left me to
this day. I just I love it, you know, going
to different parts of the country. We're going my wife
and I are going to Arizona next week, few days
of spring training of a couple of days of just
hanging out in Arizona. And so anyway, whatever I mean,

(18:25):
I I just I love seeing the country and what
a great country it is.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
Well, that's amen on that, and that's fantastic.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
By the way. What's it like living in Brooklyn? Well,
what's it like living right in the heart of the
concrete jungle.

Speaker 6 (18:42):
We really have grown to like it because we live
in the apartment building. We are close to everything, because
we're close to subways that'll take you anywhere, you know
in twenty to thirty minutes and twenty forty minutes really,
and it's just a nice thing. We raised our kids

(19:07):
in New Jersey about fourteen miles from Manhattan, and so
we always thought it'd be cool to be able to
live in the city one day. And after a couple
of years in Boston, where we just wanted to see
what that was like, after a couple of years we
just decided, hey, let's give it a go. And so

(19:29):
we've actually been in the city, either Manhattan or Brooklyn
since twenty eleven and have loved it.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
That's fantastic.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
And this is the familiar voice of Peter King, long
time with Sports Illustrated and back to about thirty years.
We remember him from NBC's Football Night in America and
that Monday morning quarterback column each and every Monday was
Football Immortality. He has a book called The Game. It's
the Game by Peter King, stories from forty years of
covering the NFL. Now the book is available in October,

(20:00):
which is fantastic because that means we get bonus Peter
King in six months to promote it a new but
you can pre order now because I did a lot
of deep diving into some things that are in the book,
and I love old school stories, as do a lot
of football fans listening now, So pre order it at
Norton dot com. It is Norton dot com. Let's get

(20:23):
into some stories and begin with the middle eighties. What
was it like in eighty four when you covered the
Cincinnati Bengals compared to the way the NFL is covered today.

Speaker 6 (20:37):
You know, the best way to describe it is the
way that mel Kiper described it to me. That was
his first year working the NFL draft, and Milk Kiper
in nineteen eighty four was paid four hundred dollars for

(21:00):
the entire year to work for ESPN covering the draft.
And ESPN actually telecast around and a half of the
draft that year, and that was it. And the draft
that year was at the Omni Central Hotel in Midtown Manhattan,

(21:20):
and there was one hundred and twenty five people at
the draft year. Wow, and you know, fans in a
little balcony above the floor where the draft picks are
getting made. But look, Paul I covered the Bengals in
a little town in training camp in a little town

(21:41):
called Willington, Ohio, where on the campus of Wilmington College.
Sam White, the rookie coach, put the Bengals through two
a days every day and training camp was six weeks long.
And it's at time. You know, Paul Brown was at
practice every practice with a huge Panama wide brimmed hat

(22:07):
to bend off. Then I watched twenty practices easy, maybe
thirty with him just standing with him that year. And
you know, honestly, the biggest regret on my career, honestly
is that I didn't walk away from every practice with
Paul Brown and write down the stuff that he said,

(22:32):
because that would have been in and of itself a
PhD class in football ology. But it was just so
much different. I mean, you lived in the dorm and
there were two payphones in the dorm, and so a
lot of the players come by my room to use

(22:53):
I had a phone in my room, and a lot
of players Chris Collins, Art Boomersias and others the frider
wide receiver. They didn't want to stand in line to
use the phone one of the phones in there. So,
you know, just Paul just a totally, totally from the world.

Speaker 4 (23:12):
That's fantastic, you know, and that There are two still
vivid NFL memories from around that time for me, and
I want to see if you covered either one of these. First,
Joe Montana making eye contact with actor John Candy in
the stands during Super Bowl twenty three, and a few
years earlier, Peter Rams quarterback Deeter Brock trying to beat

(23:33):
the vaunted eighty five Bears defense at Soldier Field in
the NFC Championship Game. Did you were you on hand
for either one of those?

Speaker 6 (23:42):
I was on hand for the Montana John Candy game.
As far as the previous one, I was covering the
New York Giants at the time in nineteen eighty five,
and that year the Giants went to Soldier Field play
in the divisional game against the Bears. He lost twenty

(24:04):
one to nothing. That was a game that Sean Landetta
whiffed on a punt. The punt blew off. There was
such strong wind as Soldier Field that day that the
punt just blew to the side, so he couldn't he couldn't,
you know, he didn't punt the ball, and the Bears

(24:26):
went on and killed him. John Candy game was interesting
because you know, that was the game where you know,
Harris Barton was just a kid and he couldn't believe
anyway that he was playing in the Super Bowl. And
it was Montego who said to him personally, Ah, there's

(24:49):
John Candy over there. Look at him, and Harris Barton
looked at him, googleized, like, holy cow, John Candy. But
you know, those were the days when stories like that,
we're a lot more possible. You know, that's one thing.
And you know, Paul I will never say, oh my god,
it was so much better to cover in those days.

(25:11):
It was, you know, like in ninety four season when
the forty nine Ers won and Steve Young through six
touchdown passes to be the Chargers, and after the game,
I trailed him in his limo with his agent Lee Steinberg,
and he threw up on our shoes in the you know,

(25:31):
he was so dehydrated and trying to you know, guzzle
gatorade and he was he threw up. And then when
he got his room at the Miami Airport Marriott or
Miami Airport Hill, I think it was the Maria, he
had to lay in his bed and get ivs in
both armed before he could even start to celebrate. So wow,

(25:54):
I mean, it was those were the days that it
was a lot more possible to be a lot closer
to players and coaches. But all of that stuff became
my white whale, and why I was determined I was
going to always be able to do things like that.

(26:14):
And the last two Super Bowls covered were the two
Kansas City Super Bowl wins in the twenty two to
twenty three seasons, and I was fortunate enough after both
of those games to be alone with Andy Reid and
have them diagram what exactly happened that allowed the Chiefs
to win those games.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
That's spectacular, I mean, second to non access and in fact,
we're going to get into that into maybe some lessons
for journalists coming up through the ranks, so to speak.
A little later with Peter King, were sharing memories from
a book that's going to come out in October, but
you can pre order it now. It's called The Game
and it's forty years of football stories with the Great

(26:56):
Peter King. Pre order for the October release please, and
you can learn more. Let's let's go with Peter's X
handle at Peter Underscore King. At Peter Underscore King is
a good place to do that. The Game forty years
with PK all right, mid nineties ninety three free agency started.

(27:17):
Now Reggie White, the Great Reggie White and Peter King
went flying around the country together during the first year
of free first year in the history of free agency
in the NFL. Walk us through that, please and I
hope I got the story right and what led Reggie
to choosing the Green Bay Packers, who weren't very good

(27:38):
at that time.

Speaker 6 (27:41):
What happened basically is that Ridge White was Rey White
was the jewel, and he won the lawsuit along with
the FLPA to be able to be a free agent.
And so what basically happened is that Reggie Waite, in

(28:03):
the course of trying to decide what he wanted to do,
took playing trips all around the country. I was on
the trip with him and his wife Sarah, his agent
Jimmy Sexton, and also Harry Galbreth, a guard at that time,
was flying around with him and I went from Tennessee

(28:24):
to Cleveland with them and talked about, you know, what
was to come, what was expected. He was going to
go go wine dined everything by Art Modell. And at
the time it was funny Bill Belichick with the coach
hard to be wined and dined by Bill Belichick. But
that's what was going to happen. What ended up happening

(28:46):
on that whole thing is that you know, I think
Reggie's field was a little bit limited financially by some
of the teams that really didn't have a lot of room,
didn't have the NFL set at early that first year,
some difficult rules for the top four teams in the

(29:09):
game the previous year the teams in the conference championship
games to be able to bid on free agents. And
so San Francisco is one of the teams that was limited.
And really I think he really wanted to go to
San Francisco. And look, I mean, I know he really
wanted to go to San Francisco, but at the time,

(29:31):
you know, the Packers had more to offer. And I
think he was also a little taken. I write in
the book about free agent trip he took to Green Bay,
which instead of going to getting wined and dined, he
had a long hour lunch at the Red Lobster in

(29:51):
Green Bay with Red Roads and Mike Hungrin and Brett
Farm and they all told him you got to you,
you know whatever, And and Olmgren was the perfect coach
to recruit Reggie because he wasn't going to be the
high pressure salesman and Reggie the high pressure. But there

(30:14):
are there's some I mean That's really one of my
favorite chapters in the book because going back and re
reporting talking to Ron Wolf the GM and Mike Reinfeld,
the cap guy of the Packers, talking to Jimmy Sexton
about doing this deal. It's I mean, is there's a
lot of suspense in that chapter. It's really one of

(30:38):
my favorites in the book.

Speaker 4 (30:39):
So beautiful. That's so beautiful. Thanks for sharing the way
you did.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
Peter.

Speaker 4 (30:43):
Speaking of the nineties, what was the Jimmy Johnson Jerry
Jones dynamic?

Speaker 6 (30:48):
Like, you know, the dynamic was that after he won
his second Super Bowl? You know, I was really surprised
at the sort of So one of the things I
tried to do, Paul, in those years is that I

(31:09):
tried to get in travel with the super Bowl winning
coach the morning after the game, going to his day
after press conference.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
Wow, okay.

Speaker 6 (31:21):
And so I had gone with Jimmy after he won
the first his first super Bowl, and then you know,
and he was effervestent, abulion, so happy, and after the
second one he was miserable, absolutely totally miserable. And I
didn't know that two months later he was he and

(31:42):
Jerry were going to get this ugly divorce, but I
just knew there were big problems, and I detail a
lot of those problems, and I think it all has
to do with the fact that he gave Jimmy a
lot of power when he came to coach the Cowboys,
and Jimmy exercised the power. Jimmy is the one who
made the trades, Jimmy is the one who did all

(32:03):
these things. And so the bottom line in the whole
thing is that Jimmy, I think, just really chased at
all the stuff that Jerry wanted to get credit for
that he didn't do, and that is really one of
the big things that led to their divorce.

Speaker 4 (32:21):
Some second to none elite stories from Peter King involving
his book called The Game Forty Years of covering the
NFL ww Norton dot com if you're interested in ordering
it pre ordering it. The book actually is released in October,
and you'll hear more from PK later in this nine
to Noon around the Corner Bikes Bites at Kfan.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
Welcome back.

Speaker 5 (32:51):
It's nine to noon and certainly vikes Bites will be
in play, but we are in the midst of deadline
day for the National Hockey League and a couple of
moves made by the Minnesota Wild. This took place yesterday.
Florida defenseman Jeff Petree kind of the old timer. It
sounds like he's a right shot defenseman. He's going to

(33:12):
provide some depth along with Damon Hunt. And he was
added to the Minnesota Wild yesterday. He will join the
team in Vegas. This is per Russo it's a depth move,
as I mentioned, but I guess there's.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
No max roster size. There's no limit on it.

Speaker 5 (33:32):
So as long as you put together whatever the top
twenty is, etc. You can just keep adding as long
as you stay under the cap. So depth moves in play.
Want a right shot defenseman, we got Jeff Petree from
the Panthers and additionally this coming out more recently ten
fifteen minutes ago.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
Bobby Brink.

Speaker 5 (33:51):
Bobby Brink a winger from the Philly Flyers, Twenty four
years old, thirteen goals, thirteen assists in his fifty five
game games this season. He's headed to the Minnesota Wild
in exchange. Four David you'rachek, Yes, yes, and this is
let me see here. Minnesota native skilled winger, good offensive instincts,

(34:13):
can make plays, high compete and character Wild see him
as a third line right wing who can move up
in lineup if needed. He is a pending restricted free
agent this summer. So all that news coming from coming
from Russel Radio.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
Now.

Speaker 5 (34:27):
The interesting thing about Bobby Brink is the name sounds
familiar because it's got that it's that alliteration. That's a
sweet name, Bobby Brink.

Speaker 4 (34:34):
It's one of those names that requires you following it
with Bobby Brink.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
I got all his albums.

Speaker 5 (34:41):
Well, he's Minnetaka's finest. So he's a Minnetaka native. Dad
was a Gophers hockey player.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
I believe. Wow.

Speaker 5 (34:47):
He led the Skippers Minnetaka High School to its first
ice hockey championship.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
Wow, Bobby Brink had to pull this from wiki.

Speaker 5 (34:55):
But today Indeed, twenty eighteen he won a title with
Minnetaka at five goals the tournament, twenty one goals, team
leading fifty six points in thirty one games. So star
at Minnetaka sious City Musketeers, finds his way to the NHL,
finds his way to Philly, and now he's headed to
Saint Paul. How about that A couple of moves. People
looking for Trocheck, looking for Stamkos looking for was it

(35:17):
Ryan O'Reilly they're looking for some of these guys. Well,
they found Bobby Brik. Bobby Brik, and we do indeed
now or at least we will shortly have all of
his albums.

Speaker 4 (35:25):
Well, yours truly requires or recalls for eur a Check.
A fair haul was given to get him, I believe,
and then we had injuries.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
Clearly it didn't work out.

Speaker 4 (35:38):
I think erecheck was for a first round pick all
that that would define quite the hall. So Euracheck's gone,
He's with Budsy's Philly Flyers. Bobby Clark go crazy. Now
you got Brink and whatever else you mentioned? And how
does all of that backdoor into the team potentially trading
for Olympian ben In Trocheck with the Rangers, who was

(36:02):
scratched last night. It was a healthy scratch against the Leafs.
Why because the Rangers are going to trade him today
and they didn't want him to get hurt.

Speaker 5 (36:10):
I believe the term terminology used was roster management purposes.

Speaker 4 (36:15):
So the roster management does it mean Trocheck will now
be managed by this roster that of the Carolina Hurricanes
or fiala relief with the La Kings inquiring minds want
to know. And today is NHL treadline Trade deadline day,

(36:35):
Bobby Brink Welcome to the Covenant.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
Yeah, indeed, And.

Speaker 5 (36:39):
You know the thing with this, And there's more to
come throughout the day as the deadline approaches. I was
listening to Tenna yesterday and I've heard it throughout So
maybe in the aftermath, sifting through the ashes we can
learn more. But kind of the idea of he has
certainly because of like the Quinn Hughes move and stuff
like that, limited assets and the idea of well, do
you want to go all in with trocheck now versus

(36:59):
potentially something that's even bigger and or better this summer?

Speaker 1 (37:03):
Right, and then the only.

Speaker 4 (37:04):
Question I would have is what is that? Well, what's
bigger and better is making sure Hughsey stays. Well, yeah,
I mean top of the top of the head for me,
Let's make sure Hughsey stays. I think there's more term
left on his deal after this year, another year, another year. Yeah,
so the summer would be the time to take one
and make it five, take one and make it six,

(37:26):
make sure you keep hughesy Boldsey, Caprice.

Speaker 1 (37:31):
Off ericson ck.

Speaker 4 (37:35):
And uh, it would be another hive flying youngster.

Speaker 1 (37:39):
We we'd have to keep. Well, those four for sure,
we got favors, favors.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
On a long term deal. Bold is on a long
long term deal. Okay, so those five, that's that, that's
the Fab five. That would be the Fab five. So
Gorilsey in Boldsey in FABSI in uh juel Erics and
Eck and Hughesy got to make sure those two stay
part of the covenant.

Speaker 5 (38:02):
So that could be the next big move. Indeed, now
let's get to some Vikes bites. On a Friday morning,
the friday before legal tampering into free agency into new
league year, and according to Pa, my guy Kyler Murray
potentially joining the Minnesota Vikings always has been your guy.
You mentioned yesterday, Pa, among some guys that you're just

(38:24):
kind of kicking tires on with free agency around the corner.

Speaker 1 (38:27):
So guys would like to learn more about how much
are they going to cost?

Speaker 5 (38:30):
Connor McGovern it sounds like the Center for the Buffalo
Bills was a name that I think we both co
signed on. Just somebody were intrigued by it. How much
that is going to cost a nice career in Buffalo.
He's been in charge of supporting Josh Allen, and now
maybe he comes to Minnesota and helps out Kyler Murray
flirt witness Smith Kirk Cousins, so let the flirtation games begin.

(38:54):
But the fact of the matter is PA is just
looking at what is available potentially to the minute vikings
in free agency, specifically with center.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
I don't know how deep you've dug.

Speaker 5 (39:04):
I mean, Linderbaum's going to be expensive and probably a bear, ye,
and then McGovern probably among the higher end ones as well.
But you start digging into these names, I need guys
that made all the dances.

Speaker 1 (39:16):
PA, So I'm looking.

Speaker 5 (39:17):
I'm like ooh Ethan Postage played a lot of games,
tons of games for the Seattle Seahawks and the Cleveland
browns Achilles.

Speaker 1 (39:25):
Though Lloyd Cushion Berry, I.

Speaker 5 (39:28):
Was wondering, you just signed like a fifty million dollar
deal a couple of years ago with the Titans.

Speaker 4 (39:32):
That's a regal name, like Atticus Sappington. Indeed, Lloyd Cushionberry,
I think he's the third. By the way, yes he
comes from a royal family. Indeed, well, Atticus Sappington's the first.
And when he walks off on NFC South teams kicking
for the Atlanta Falcons.

Speaker 1 (39:48):
You will know his name, but.

Speaker 5 (39:51):
Lloyd Cushion Barry just like a fifty million dollar deal.
Titans love them. They cut him a week ago for
a failed physical in twenty twenty four. Achilles though Oh
James Daniels. James Daniels started at center at Iowa, played
guard center, was flexible with the Chicago Bears, went to
the Steelers, fresh new outlooks South Beach.

Speaker 1 (40:11):
For the Miami Dolphins, Oh, a Peck injury at the
beginning of twenty twenty five. He missed the remainder of
the season. Really, are you kidding me with all this?

Speaker 5 (40:20):
Regardless of what what happens with the quarterback spot, Pa,
I'm just looking at that again, Ryan Kelly love him.
The head injuries, the injury issues, the potential cap savings
associated with saying goodbye, all those things lead me down
the road. If there's going to be a new center
for the Minnesota Moving Company, are we possibly in a spot, PA,

(40:40):
where we are looking at Michael Jurgins and Blake Brandle
as starting week one, twenty twenty six for the Purple.

Speaker 4 (40:48):
You would be, we would be, all of us would
be if we recognize the reality the Chicago Bears have
all the money nobody else in the division as any.
So watch beloved BJ House, Linderbaum and McGovern.

Speaker 5 (41:07):
Chicago.

Speaker 4 (41:07):
Be yeh, because he can uh that that's you know,
when you were rattling through the quarterbacks and everything, I
was like, yeah, there's there's JJ McCarthy too, everybody, Yeah
he still exists. JJ McCarthy just turned twenty three, probably
his big boys probably grown up a little bit mature
out there throwing on the West Coast with something something
called John Beck.

Speaker 1 (41:27):
And then you got Jurgens and Randall. Yeah, sure, I
mean they they.

Speaker 4 (41:32):
I'm not going to pretend to have watched their What's
up cg to have watched their all twenty two and
watched it back from the two zero two five, But
they definitely are options and their options, especially if Beloved
BJ uses all of his money and takes Linderbaum and McGovern.

Speaker 5 (41:51):
Chicago.

Speaker 1 (41:52):
Yeah, only time will tell, Daviy. Let me hit you
with this.

Speaker 5 (41:56):
Bikes fights free agency around the corner. If for some
reason we had some money and needed to upgrade defensively.

Speaker 4 (42:04):
Money just walked in the door in the shape of
Chad Greenway. Yeah, We've all the NFC north got money.

Speaker 1 (42:09):
Now can he put a.

Speaker 5 (42:11):
Down payment on our defensive front in twenty twenty six? Yep,
an investment opportunity for number five too.

Speaker 4 (42:17):
Well with Greenway here, if we talk quarterbacks beginning ten
minutes from now, recognize the last time Jimmy Garoppolo was
mentioned on a Friday into this microphone. I ended up
walking the streets of New Orleans by myself. So let's
be very cognizant and smart of these quarterbacks that we
bring up.

Speaker 1 (42:37):
Okay, thank you.

Speaker 5 (42:40):
If if we need some help defensively, I don't know
how much you've watched him. There's a guy that intrigues me.
His name is Leo Chanal with the Kansas City Chiefs. Yeah,
and at the linebacker spot. He'll play inside and outside
for Spags's defense. I like the versatility from a Flores standpoint.
He's terrific against the run, but he also has the

(43:00):
wheels to pass rush. Leo Chanal as a potential linebacker.
If there's either some Eric Wilson related negativity, we can
look at our own guys in the fact that I've
in pace, maybe not guaranteed to return, et cetera. Leo
Chanal is just a name former badger. I think I
put that in my back pocket and just kind of
kick some tires on that a little bit.

Speaker 1 (43:19):
I like how Leo plays.

Speaker 4 (43:21):
I wonder if playing on the Chiefs, the way they
run things and the fact that you know they are
the Chiefs man, they're in every single game. They seem
like they're all one score games. But there's just way
the game shape can dictate how well or how poorly
players play over the course of time. And the point
being here is in this individual year of free agency,

(43:47):
I just wonder if the Alec Pierce's, Juwan Jennings and
Leo Shanall's of the world. Yeah, if they're just gonna
get X amount of dollars more than anybody ever thought
they should get. Yes, because free agency ain't the greatest
thing in the world this year. And unless you're beloved
BJ and you get the guy from Baltimore and Buffalo,
they have all the money.

Speaker 1 (44:08):
We got all the money. Can't dispute it. They have
all the money all right.

Speaker 5 (44:12):
Now, don't physically accost me when I go down this road, Okay,
Jamel Dean, I believe was a name that Ben Lieber
brought up yesterday at the corner, and he's a nice
corner from Tampa. But we're pinching pennies and it is
a free agency period where we are scratching the surface
of Alec Pierce's of the world.

Speaker 4 (44:34):
What if Briz has the twenty twenty six version of
the poison pill up his sleeve and he's about ready
to drop something on Monday, nobody sees coming.

Speaker 5 (44:44):
Jeff Acuda, I believe we could have put that in
the box of being maybe a reclamation project, an opportunity
for him. Sadly, concussions and just his inability to make
the dances and stay on the field proved to be problematic.

Speaker 1 (44:57):
Don't hit me.

Speaker 4 (44:59):
I wonder what air Stokes is up to these days.
You know, that's really interesting you said that. No, I'm not,
in fact, I'm going to join exactly what you said
in lockstep, because now Eric Stokes somebody who has had
a lot of his skills, running ability and stuff like that,

(45:19):
robbed by injury.

Speaker 1 (45:21):
Yeah, like Jeff Okudah.

Speaker 4 (45:23):
Now Stokes wasn't in Okudah's class when he played at
Georgia and Okudah played at Ohio State.

Speaker 1 (45:29):
Okudah was just a better overall corner.

Speaker 5 (45:32):
Back in the day, and we found our way around
Eric Stokes when he was wearing green and gold a
little bit too.

Speaker 1 (45:37):
But here's the deal.

Speaker 4 (45:38):
And I don't know how many played for the Raiders
last year, so maybe it's still you know, play three,
miss five, play two, miss six.

Speaker 1 (45:45):
I got no idea. I'll find it in ten seconds.

Speaker 4 (45:48):
Stokes is gifted if he has not lost, assuming he's
lost part of his skill set but not all of it.
What would Eric Stokes be like in a Brian Flores defense?
You see, That's what intrigues me there, because he's going
to be cheap of all cheap ever to be cheap.

Speaker 1 (46:07):
Yes, but I made sixteen games he's played.

Speaker 5 (46:11):
It's only this one game the last two seasons, last
one in Green Bay and last.

Speaker 1 (46:15):
Year for Raiders. Oh jeez, didn't know that. So he's
made the dances.

Speaker 4 (46:18):
So you just need to think of like what Fabian
Moreau gave this team in the amount of time he played. Now,
Moreau's been around the block longer than Stokes, and he
stayed healthier, but he was a third slash fourth corner.
And when Moreau had to play because of the way

(46:38):
they crafted the way Flores crafts defense. There were times
in Seattle Moreau ended ended up singled against Jackson Smith
and Jigbub and they didn't trip on it, and nothing
bad happened because they had the pass rush constructed in
a way where Sam had no idea where it was
coming from. So Flores squeezed every single thing you possibly

(47:01):
can out of out of Fabian Moreau. So when I
saw the name Eric Stokes, I thought the exact same thing.
You thought, Yeah, why not? Different type of defense? Skilled,
but has lost some of the physical ability due to
injuries undoubtedly, or he wouldn't be where he is now,
And that that's something that I would I would kick

(47:23):
the proverbial tires a little bit on And I.

Speaker 5 (47:25):
Know from a Minnesota sports fans standpoint, you want Trocheck,
you want Stamkos. You're learning about Jeff Petrie and Bobby Brink, right,
something new happened, No, no, no, no. But my point
is is you want Linderbaum, you want some of these
names in free agency, and we're talking about Leo Shanall
and Eric Stokes. That's kind of the place where our
favorite team is at the moment, right, So we shall

(47:47):
show the draft gift to change, and you have the
draft for corners and centers? Is I want like Monday
last year? Betheneman cap By the way, the way he
showed out at the draft, I'm almost wondering if he's
going to be available at eighteen.

Speaker 4 (48:00):
That kid's good, dude. Yeah, and the way we secured
the steam a second none. Atticus Sappington the Atlanta Falcons
twenty twenty six kicker about ready to walk off on
Baker twice, but having gone from a ninety minute chat
with Oregon kicker Atticus Sappington having never heard of Tinam

(48:20):
and Theenemon, to then get into the combine and learning
about Theenemon the Oregon Duck safety. Well, then now all
of a sudden, it's like, well, this is just too
good to be true. The person I sat next to him,
what he said about the guy, and we need this
and it just seems too perfect for us to not
have him.

Speaker 1 (48:37):
Yeah, it does seem too perfect. So let's make it
happen in April.

Speaker 5 (48:41):
Last thing for you, if gainwell wasn't a thing, I
just had Rico Dowdell's written down a bit. I don't
know how much he's gonna cost either, not bad career
high and catches.

Speaker 1 (48:50):
He's got some bursts and protect the passer a little bit.

Speaker 4 (48:53):
Well, given they're going to select Nebraska's Emma Johnson seven
fridays from today, you got to have somebody that doesn't
put so much pressure on Emmitt Johnson right out of
the gates, right out of the gate. So like if
Mason has to miss time, or if Dowdell slash Gainwell
have to miss time.

Speaker 1 (49:11):
Just slide in EJ perfect.

Speaker 4 (49:12):
Wait till you slide that Minnesotan into a prominent role
at us Bank Stadium in a provincial state. I mean
you thought the Minneapolis miracle cheer was loud o Lee cow.
This play is gonna go crazy.

Speaker 6 (49:25):
Man.

Speaker 5 (49:26):
That's some Vikes bites for you. Some things were pondering,
some bits and some things to look forward to. With
Monday ahead of us, where where are you going to
be later today? I'm going to be at the Northwest
Sports Show at the Minneapolis Convention Center from.

Speaker 1 (49:38):
Four to six.

Speaker 4 (49:39):
Sweet fish and chips and much more with Nordo. It's
ten o'clock. That's KFA in sports Time. Game changer back
in the day, Chad Greenway courtesy of Great Duck Spirits
and Great Duck Vodka joins nine to noon next
