Speaker 1 (00:00):
The inclusion or lack thereof, of the nine to noon
radio show, trying to make it a fency Friday. But nevertheless,
whether it's a front court for checking fastball, Finchy or football.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Nine to noon is by your side.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
The vocalist for the Feast, producer Eric Nordquist, and I'm
Paul Allen. All of this is like waiting for a
baseball or hockey draft de taxially make it to the
big squad. It's like you draft a baseball player, you
draft certain hockey players, and you're likees, I got that
guy from the Icy straight Es, I drafted that baseball

(00:47):
player from cal State Fullerton, and I know he can ball.
But then it's crickets and you gotta wait years for
them to play in the in the in the ballparks
or the stadiums with multiple X. That's to me what
waiting for this deal to go official has become.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
It was supposed to be early.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Yesterday, middle yesterday, then late yesterday, then early this morning.
But the waiting has become the hardest part. Are we
expecting the official sign to eliminate, illuminate today at any
time for this LaMelo Ball to the Wolves deal? And
then when it gets done, We're like, well, what took
so long? And we got press conferences and everything and

(01:32):
all right, but here's the deal. We can we can
put that in a box with a bow and put
it off to the side until training camp when it
probably or excuse me, the State Fair when it definitely
will be a finchy Friday, and then training camp and
then the Timberwolf season. Then we start sweating the games.

(01:54):
I just and then Nordo kind of voiced this yesterday.
We just have no idea why the waiting has to
be the hardest part. LaMelo Ball said coming to the
Minnesota Timberwolves is a dream come true on his dad's podcast.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Huh, I saw it on social media.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
So if he can breach the rules, why can't we
breach the rules with Finchy Finchy in.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Good morning, Good Morning?

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
I'm watching the Summer League bits is trying to follow
it as best as I can. Yesterday, and by the way,
Baronjay looked good in the Summer League effort down in
the seven oh two, So digging that, where's Isaiah.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Evans, where's hello? There's that too? That's right?

Speaker 4 (02:36):
Can our draft pick play.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Right in the Summer League.

Speaker 5 (02:39):
Please.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
I mean, in the business, we call him Showtime Slim.
It's not No Time Slim or no Shows Slim because
it ain't his fault.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
So, and so I'm rolling in.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
It's like, okay, let's let's see actually the you know, Okay,
I see the Minnesota Timberwolves played the New Orleans Pelicans
in the NBA Summer League. Okay, so I dig that,
and I'm just gonna jump in. Let's look at the
tea Wolves depth chart. Why is it that ESPN gets
to throw ant and Desumu and Jade McDaniels and Rudy
Gobert and then at that PG spot they put LaMelo

(03:12):
ball there?

Speaker 2 (03:13):
How do they know that's even a thing that's gonna happen?

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Is it ever going to happen? Is the trade a
real thing that exists? Is it a thing that took place?
Because I can't hear my favorite basketball team talk about
the guy that we supposedly acquired. But it's going to
be official at some time. Is he even allowed to
wear Timberwolves merchandise? Can he put a Tea Wolve's hat on?

(03:37):
Or does he have to wait for the trade to
become official before he can get a new color on
the Lamborghini to match his outfits.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Now, why does LaMelo Ball get to go on a
popular podcast and say it's a dream come true to
be part of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Well, do we know if LaVar's podcast is popular?

Speaker 6 (03:56):
Can you repeat the part of this stuff where you
said all about there's.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
A leg up on the competition line there that I'm
just gonna go ahead and stay away from.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
I always love that one. I mean Rubes.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Timberwolves fans they wanted to go official too, so they
can meet the new guy.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Roof so many roofsbs, no roofs.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
They just want the official sign on the totalized Zader
board to become illuminated.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
How many jerseys are a Rod and Lorie not selling
right now because it's not official?

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Oh wow, Yeah, they missed the They missed the buzz
of the break, the buzz of the breaking news with
I think get you. I think they'd be fine too,
get your get your get your fresh lamellow ball jersey
right now.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
For the image if they can make it official.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Meanwhile, listeners, those who are not afraid, or those those
who genuinely appreciate the option Nine to Noon gives you, well,
let's let's unpack it from contextually from the bottom. Not afraid,
greatly appreciative of the opportunity the iHeartRadio family gives you,

(05:17):
through f M one hundred point three kfa N at
the free iHeartRadio app to find that microphone and offer
up some talkbacks. Now that that's been quite beneficial, and
it's been quite been quite popular in the Nine to
Noon Covenant. Since yours truly was coerced and talked into,

(05:38):
I always love this, since yours truly really recognize the
potency of the talkback machine.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
It took a little while, that happens with old guys.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
But you love talkbacks now, yes, especially in June, July
and part of August. But the question today, for those
of you who are not afraid and genuinely appreciate the
opportunity for your quips or your takes, or your talkers
or your tedium to be heard, the question is are

(06:09):
you ready for a fight? Are you ready for a
fight via the talk back contraption?

Speaker 2 (06:17):
And here's what we mean.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
We have five maybe six button bar spots left for
Super Bowl slogans, So there's going to be a show
long fight today as we put a bow on Super
Bowl slogans twenty twenty six, and we got about five
or six spots left because the ones that we've received
have been so good over the two or three segments

(06:46):
that there are maybe four that we've orchestrated it this week.
We have some that most likely will stick. What are
those or top of the head, what do you remember?

Speaker 4 (06:57):
Well, I mean sixty first times the charm it's going
to be in. We're just going to keep running that
thing up every year. From so cold to so cal,
a bit of tongue in cheek, but to sofi We
hurry on the arm of Kyler Murray from destitute and
awful to Rosco's for chicken and a waffle frostbite on

(07:18):
your nose, to sand between your toes, always.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
So so to so Fie.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
That was Nick k Jason offered us, from the Pits
to the Glitz, drunk John kriesel DMed me on x
hoisting the crown in Tinseltown. I dig that those are
those are some of the ones that were absolutely feeling
good at ingel Wood. We dig those, yeah, But I

(07:45):
also you know some examples if you're cool with this,
pa I compiled five or six. I actually downloaded them
from the talkbacks themselves.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Okay, because I have I have some late ads.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
If you are so inclined, Yeah, no, I'm in We
need as many as we can.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Yeah, and we're not fixing the race here. But these
are some laid ads and they may not make the equation,
but if they do, cool And it's for Super Bowl
sixty one slogans Minnesota Vikings tie. The game is in
Los Angeles, adjacent to Hollywood, in a city called Inglewood,
next to the Fabulous Forum, around the corner from Roscoe's

(08:22):
Chicken and Waffles, close to the ocean. The coach is Ko,
The defensive coordinator is b Flow. The quarterbacks Kyler Murray,
JJ McCarthy and Carson Wentz. Justin Jefferson does the gritty
in a certain city.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
So you got Banks.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
I mean, there's so many things off which we can play,
and the listeners Rube Nation has been terrific. I here's
some late ads, and here we go, bringing Ko to
the Land of No Snow, Bringing Ko to the Land

(09:04):
of No Snow.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Yeah, I mean you know it's a Yes, it's available. Yeah,
it's it's a mixer. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Super Bowl sixty one. Money in the banks, money in
the banks or.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Or l Yeah, all of mine suck.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
I know they do.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
I like money in the banks, money in the banks.
I dig that next. And yeah, you'll like this one.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
In fact, I'm willing to guarantee this one sticks. Oh
why do super Bowl liners when you'll all end up whiners?

Speaker 2 (09:44):
I always love that one. That's a bit fatalistic here.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
In fact, that's the opposite of what we're trying to
do here.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Why do super Bowl liners when you'll all end up whiners?

Speaker 3 (09:57):
All right?

Speaker 2 (09:58):
How about this one that's fair but true.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Why do a super Bowl phrase when it's our team
that always gets its ham glazed?

Speaker 2 (10:07):
I always love that one. That's yeah, those problems work?

Speaker 4 (10:13):
Can I can I ask you how long you had
ham glazed in your head? So that was a thing
that popped into your into your braid.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
No, I was trying to rhyme with with I was
first trying to rhyme with slogan, so phrase, so phrase
entered first, and then I tried to rhyme with phrase,
so phrase and glaze, And why seek a super Bowl
phrase when it's your ham that always gets glazed?

Speaker 2 (10:39):
See it? It's making you laugh. That's the point of it.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
That's what we're here to do, is to give you
distraction on this muggy Friday and make you laugh. And
I don't see why that can't stick. Geez, Why why
look for a super Bowl phrase when it's your ham
that always gets glazed?

Speaker 2 (10:59):
Well this is it's mildly inappropriate.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
But from the city with big lakes and big gritties
to the city with big.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Fake and fake, this show is naughty. This is a
family show, all right. I might make you a body mouth,
but keep.

Speaker 4 (11:16):
Those text messages coming because they are awesome.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Yeah, so the do you have any more?

Speaker 4 (11:21):
Well, so what I was gonna do. I I read
out some of the ones that I had written down.
But but some examples, like keep these talkbacks coming, for instance,
you can offer us great ones like this.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Hey, this is Allen and Afton.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
This one's for Addison, from sleeping in a car to
becoming a SOULFI star.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Your It's that easy.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
It's the free iHeartRadio app. I just gotta I gotta
check it for FCC violations. But but you can offer
up anything you want.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
Spearfish, you ain't listening right now, You're in some place
called like catch a can or something, right.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
I might punch them in the face.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
I mean, holy cow, check your watch can't tell me
what time it is? Nine fifteen? The peak your head
out and tell me what the climb it is?

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Seventy eight for now, but high eighties later, and it's
found to be mugging.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
I like that that last one that you've played that
involved the car. What about what about this one?

Speaker 5 (12:20):
Bro Viking ships to botox.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Lips I rube. Yeah, that's that that. You can't dispute it.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
I swear once we once we played that. I've received
no fewer than twenty different ways to include botox and lips.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Oh, I thought into a slogan. Yeah, that beats you.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
That that beats the other portion of the equation, where
it'd be like, how dare you tell me I cannot
inject things into my lips, in my forehead and around
my eyes and stuff like that.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
What about via the text machine from the wizzinator to
the termin.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Check your watch and tell me what time it is.
It's nine sixteen.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Now, the peak your head app and tell me what
the climbing is. Thermometer just went up when it's seventy
nine still set to be muggy as a mug.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Apia and it's timing here from snow and sleep to.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
The La Heat.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
I think that's simple. I dig it, dig it a lot. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
See, that's why we only have five or six spots
left today. That's why there could be a fight on
the talkback machine because today is officially, unofficially the last
day we're going to do this. So we can fill
the button bar with all these elite Super Bowl slogans,
so you know what to do with the talkbacks free

(13:46):
iHeartRadio app by the way. Also, if you are so inclined,
now we have Vikes bites around the corner. Then we're
gonna play a bevy of talkbacks at about nine. Alex
Lewis from the Athletic will be studio at ten o'clock.
Wobble from the Star Tribune we'll be in studio at eleven.
But that doesn't mean the talkback submissions have to stop,

(14:09):
including Super Bowl slogans with alec and or Lavelle Neil
the third. But we could throw this out too, you know,
like during the football season you'll hear nine to noon
occasionally do a topic exchange and we'll say something about
a route to beating a team, drop a highlight in
and read a paragraph or two and then move on
to the next one.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
So, what is your sports a topic?

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Let's have an a topic exchange where you control the narrative.
Let it out so we can psychologically analyze your prattle anything.
I mean local sports, specifically the core four preferred. I'm
not negative on sliding and bope in there. I'm not
negative if the World Cup is your a topic. That's

(14:55):
what the talkback contraption is for. Wild Where's Dylan Larkin?
Is LaMelo ball? A real person? Viking Season on the Horizon,
first preseason game five weeks from tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
World Cup.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
Minnesota Twins have won seven of the last eight series.
It can be anything, but please make it yours. Make
it your a topic, Exchange it with us, and we'll
be prepared to react.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
On the fly.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Plus that talkback fight that undoubted les set to referral
four or five maximum six spots left. Yeah, hey, get
one of your button bar spots and b B nine
to noon immortality when you hear it back on the
podcast and you're like Billy Johnny Christy, Susi, Tamika Antwine

(15:45):
gather around the table and listen to mom or dad
on the radio with a Super Bowl slogan that the
nine to Noon team liked. Yeah, I mean that is
family camaraderie right there. That bring the neighborhood into your home.
That's community, ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
Well, you're gonna have to work hard if you're going
to beat that sleeping in cars to Sofi Star and
that's your opportunity. It is a true fight. If you
want to knock some of these off the board, you
gotta hand it. You gotta hand it to the free
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
Yeah, if you want to beat why do super Bowl
liners when you'll all end up whiners?

Speaker 3 (16:19):
I I punch them in the safe.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
Then a silence.

Speaker 5 (16:22):
You here.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
You gotta work hard, lambeau Field, you gotta work hard, man.

Speaker 4 (16:25):
I say, at this rate, big voice guy, I love him,
and he does terrific work.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
I'm going to give him fifty submissions at this point.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
That's all part of the timber Tech What's on Deck
setlist courtesy of nine to Noon. It's nine to nineteen
Good Morning Vike's Bites featuring Kevin O'Connell and does some
things he had to say recently. That's next to that've
been one hundred point three kfan. A happy Friday to
you and welcome to your favorite radio station.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
It is the Fan.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
This is not the new I'm a fan, Taco Bells,
new Jalapeno Citrus elsa bright.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
Necessarily a super Bowl liner, Okay, but Mouse John and
the Mouse Michelson, captain of the eighty three wise Eedic
club hockey team, most formidable club hockey team in the
history of any form of hockey, sent me a text
during the previous segment, and it involves one of our
prized sponsors.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
Here nine to noon in a KF A M.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
Yeah, the Vikings super Bowl drought has been so long
Steve's Appliances.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Wants to sponsor it. I always love that one.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
Well, the marathon right into the mix, didn't you marathon Mouzai.

Speaker 4 (17:41):
Well, I got a couple of texts during the break
as well. Let me let me hit you with these
and see if you like them. From the Land of
Spam to Glitz and Glam, I.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
Dig it and along the line.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Along the same line, Dustin Patten tweeted me and writes,
from the Land of Lakes to the Land that shakes earthquakes.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
That's actually really well done. Get that to me. Yeah.
From the Land of Lakes to the Land that Shakes.

Speaker 4 (18:11):
All right, one more. I don't know if this is
going to fit, but I kind of like it. From
arm Punts on Loop to fat Blunts with Snoop, I
always love that one.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
Rolling down the street with k EO sibinon Gin and
Jews laid back with.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
A mind of my money and my money, Oh my mind.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
Now that one SB sixty one. Oh, I can't no,
I can't read that Kyller. Marie's on the run. JJ's
having fun.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
I'm trying to send this from the Land of Shakes
to the from the Land of three two, from the
Land of Lakes to the Land that Shakes. I'm trying
to send it to you via direct message. It okay,
it's done. It's it's below Jordan Peterson.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
And yeah, see I always love from the Land of
Lakes to ten million Fakes. Yeah, we can work with
a lot of these, all right, keep them coming in.
The talkbacks are in play too.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Yeah. It's a very very important day for you, ladies
and gentlemen. The fight is on.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
Vikes bites, Vikes bites, is a nine to noon staple
and it's brought to you by Kinmount Exteriors. Kinmount Exteriors
dot Com siding and roofing and decks.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
Oh my, they do so many different things for your home.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
Check out Kinmount Exteriors dot Com, clear honest, Kinmount. And
you mentioned Kevin O'Connell. He chatted with Dan Patrick on
the DP Show and it was sweet. I have some
audio clips that I would like to play for you
first that this kind of opens. I kind of liked
Ko's answer here or just getting to know a bit

(19:52):
more about it as Dan Patrick, He's like, hey, you
know you want to Coach of the Year award, Like,
where is it?

Speaker 3 (19:58):
It's in my office at home. Okay, yeah, Sean.

Speaker 7 (20:02):
Sean McVay gave us a kind of a replica Lombardi
Trophy after the twenty one Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
It's got a couple, got a couple of those things.

Speaker 5 (20:11):
Okay, all right, But if I walk in the house,
I don't know what you do for a living No, no, no,
like your jersey's up in the living room.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Bedroom.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
You got you gotta you gotta travel.

Speaker 7 (20:22):
You got to either go to the basement or into
the office to see to see anything.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
I'm not a look. You know, I'm hoping.

Speaker 7 (20:30):
The number you know, the goal I think about every
single day is bringing a Lombardi Trophy to to the
Minnesota Vikings. We have the greatest fans in the world
and an unbelievable football history with the Vikings that I've
really admired learning about. And uh, but we need we
need a Lombardi Trophy and it's the hardest thing to
do in sports, but we you know, our fans deserve it.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
So in Kevin O'Connell's house, PA, if you were to
walk in the front door, you don't know what he
does for a living modesty right.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
Well, what I mean it's let's think Bill Belichick or
Andy Reid or you know, those who who have either
recently or have won Super Bowls. I mean, I don't
expect to walk into their home and like, there's a
TV plane with all the great play calls, read McVeigh,
Belichick or whatever displayed, and then over there game more

(21:26):
and Aaron Donald Jersey and you walk around there and
you got more highlights.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
I don't. I would imagine most are pretty modest that way.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
I've seen some on the other end of it, but
I would agree with you for the most pardon. Hey,
you know what, no one's gonna blame him if if
you walk in instead of a little little drop area
for your keys, someday it's the Lombardi Trophy because they
finally want it. Yeah, I don't think anybody's gonna give
them guff about that.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Well, when you started the bite and Kevin said, Sean
McVeigh gave me a replica Lombardi Trophy, I'm like, has
it come to that? I mean, is are you getting
trolled by one of your best friends sending you a
replica Lombardi like you're never gonna win it? But it
turns out it was after the Super Bowl, before Kevin
O'Connell got here.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
Another interesting part of it.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
Before I have a few quotes specifically on the football team,
but this one was interesting, talking about at some point
being traded, playing for different teams and maybe being that
guy with the sneaky intel from your former team.

Speaker 5 (22:28):
Were you ever picked up by a team and they
were playing the team that you were on?

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Really? Am I making up a story that I didn't know?
If you helped with information?

Speaker 3 (22:40):
Oh?

Speaker 7 (22:40):
Yeah no, yeah, Mark Burnell told me one time. You know,
once they figure out you can't play, try to get
two more years in. And that's the guy play. That's
a guy that that's it, and that's the guy that
played twenty years and he's won. A very close friend
of mine actually the quarterback coach of the Detroit Lions.
But I started here and you know, get released that
first time I was with New England ended up you know,

(23:04):
in a in a roundabout way, getting to the New
York Jets, and then we played played the Patriots and
a couple of weeks later, and you know, I might
not always been able to throw it from point A
to point B, but I was going to take every
last note. I was going to learn every possible thing
I could, being around the greatest coach of all time,
the greatest quarterback of all time. So I had some information,

(23:26):
but I had to be smart about it. You couldn't
give it all at once.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
You know.

Speaker 7 (23:29):
It was like, hey, I'm going to ay about sixty seventy.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
There's more with that kid, and back to football though.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
However, at some point he had to be the coach
of the Vikings and talk about various aspects of the squad,
which of course the a topic with our team right
now is his quarterback competition. But yeah, I think Dan
Patrick just sounds like this open competition thing.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
Is it really open? Like it's open between J. J.
McCarthy and Kyle.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
I'm not.

Speaker 7 (24:00):
I'm not really familiar with a closed competition in the competition.
So you know, I've heard that, I've heard that, you know,
everyone's like fascinated and we'll.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
Play the whole thing again with respect.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Do the the Kansas City Chiefs, Well, let's say Mahomes
is fully up to speed. The Kansas City Chiefs have
a closed quarterback competition. The l A Rams have a
closed quarterback competition. The Dallas Cowboys, whether you like Dak
or not, they have a closed quarterback competition. So that

(24:33):
comes with respect to our favorite head coach. But there
is such a thing as a closed quarterback competition. Gone
hit it like it's open between J. J. McCarthy and customer.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
I'm not.

Speaker 7 (24:45):
I'm not really familiar with a closed competition in the competition.
So you know, I've heard that, I've heard that, you know,
everyone's like fascinated with with that aspect of it.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
Here's what I'd say.

Speaker 7 (24:55):
You know, you know, two players and really the the
goal going into this offseason was to elevate the quarterback
position because when we have a certain standard of play
that we feel like we have multiple guys in that
room that are capable of achieving that standard, the Minnesota
Vikings win football games.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
And so the best way to achieve.

Speaker 7 (25:20):
That is having a daily attempt to have guys push
each push each other and not just always need the
outside noise or not always need you know what the
narratives may be, Let's roll the ball out there and
let's try to, you know, help the Minnesota Vikings get better.
Kyler has come in and done a great job. Jj
I think has benefit from it. He had a really

(25:41):
good spring. Carson Wentz is this veteran quarterback in the
room that as a guy who's played seven or eight
quarterbacks in four years. The two years we had our starter,
you know, play the whole season, we won thirteen and
fourteen games. So we want to try to get back
to the standard of having the quarter back position be
a driving force behind us winning by doing their you

(26:03):
know what.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
We want to get back to a closed quarterback competition.

Speaker 4 (26:08):
Bucks, don't you think, Well, yeah, And I've heard him
mention that it is. It is important that you remember
that from time to time, the fact that at some
point when people were healthy and happy, that this team
saw immense success. And it's not you know, you could
say it one hundred more times, and it's the thing
that everybody knows that you know, as valuable, as important

(26:31):
and vital as that position is, given what Kevin O'Connell
asks his quarterbacks to do, the fact that it's been
so wonky. We saw it post Achilles for Kirk, and
then we saw what what transpired a year ago, and
just the stability of that position, and you know.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
Maybe an open competition, I believe, and I am taking
the head coach at his word.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
I still have kind of framed it up as it's
a bit on tilt.

Speaker 4 (27:01):
It's a bit of a an unintentionally rigged game from
the standpoint that one of those two has immense experience
and the other ones trying to work back from ten
games that mostly didn't go the right way.

Speaker 2 (27:14):
So but but in the open end of it, the
idea of iron and iron sharpening iron, all.

Speaker 4 (27:19):
The cliches and things that you'll you'll hear, I think,
I think at this stage you know the the This
needs to be a solution oriented process that finds its
way to an answer before we start, maybe even playing
preseason games. I don't know where your head's at on that.
Like I I don't want to be like we go
to the we go to the Giants mid August. I

(27:41):
don't want to be talking about joints with the Baltimore
Ravens and thinking to myself, I wonder who's going to
get more number one reps, right, McCarthy or Murray and so.
But but to the coach's point, when we had stability
at that spot, we won a bunch of games. Now
time to win some playoff games, right, we need to
win those. Yeah, but the stability at that spot, if
this is the best process, I'm gonna I'm gonna trust

(28:04):
that Ko finds the right answer again, hopefully before we
start playing preseason games.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
We have a set list change. Alex Lewis goes to
one zero one five. Alex Lewis goes to one zero
one five, N d N goes to one zero zero three,
one zero zero three, and here they.

Speaker 4 (28:25):
Are perfect Vikes, bikes mount exteriors. He also had a
little bit to say on the defense and the run
game as well.

Speaker 7 (28:33):
We got a great defense, Brian Flores has done an
unbelievable job. If we can limit giving the football away
and generate some explosives and get a run game going,
which is although no one's really talking about that, that
has been a major emphasis of this offseason, both from
a coaching staff standpoint and a player a player development
and an offensive development standpoint. I'm excited about where we're at,

(28:56):
but we won't really know until we, you know, go
start house of fire and forging our team together that
we're going to compete in the NFC North.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
It's very very competitive division.

Speaker 4 (29:07):
So I guess maybe I was looking at it the
wrong way because you you kind of corrected me on
it yesterday.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
We chatted more about it with Lieber and then you
hear the coach there what.

Speaker 4 (29:15):
Happened at every turn the mentioning of and he didn't
I don't think he mentioned Frank Smith's name there specifically,
but that this has been the you know, what's your
A topic behind the Noone listener you ask people that
last segment, it sounds like the a topic inside that
building has been from a coaching staff standpoint, he mentioned

(29:36):
that that's where Frank Smith comes in. But the run
game in particular has been stuck in that man's craw
and he's ready to pry that thing out of there
and improve the run game. So when I said I
think that's a weak spot, sounds like it might be
a strength, might be a focus.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
In twenty twenty six.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
The first carry of the season against the Green Bay
Packers cannot sound like this first in ten vikings from
their own twenty three handoff Aaron Jones always stuck by
Van Ness in the backfield.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
It's a TfL for four. Javon Hargrave. Yeah, because on
your couchry, Yeah, jay Von Hargrave.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
Got through the middle and he has tackled Jordan Mason
for a three yard loss. Because fan line is gonna
be like, that's grabbing me. Frank Smith that I'm sir glad.
We talked about that for six months.

Speaker 4 (30:32):
It has to be elite day one, week one against
the Green Bay Packers or fire everybody. And I'm pulling
my tickets. Last last little bit from and I love
this though. After the conclusion of that answer on the
defense and run game, Paul.

Speaker 5 (30:46):
How many coaching cliches did we get.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
And we got six cliches in two minutes.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
So what's from this city?

Speaker 4 (30:53):
Coach run out the balls for practice as a cliche.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
Yeah, it's a better way to say.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
And we're gonna start practicing three weeks.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
We're going take it one practice at a time.

Speaker 7 (31:01):
You didn't say that, well, we're not going to take
it one practice you have?

Speaker 3 (31:04):
Do I think we actually go three and then an
off day three?

Speaker 2 (31:08):
I mean, it was we have a clicheometer.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
It was.

Speaker 4 (31:11):
It was a cool It was a cool exchange, A
great interview with with Kevin O'Connell and Dan Patrick.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
So you can check that out on YouTube on the
DP show that.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
Is by provided by kin Mount.

Speaker 4 (31:23):
Exteriors and again the website Kinmount Exteriors dot com.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
When nine to Noon returns, we're going to play back
some of the uh the finality of the Super Bowl
slogan talkback fight that is ensuing via the free iHeartRadio app.
Right now, we've got four or five maximum six spots
left for the for button bar immortality, super Bowl sixty
one and Super Bowl slogans, whatever whatever you have concocted.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
We will fire through some talkbacks.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
When we returned to the nine to Noon Friday Football
Fast at FM one hundred point three.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
Kay yet?

Speaker 6 (32:00):
And this is PA on iHeart Radio and KFA and
the fan Guaranteed human Our iHeart.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
Radio Music due.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
Did did root Nation creating its a topic? Did anybody
bite on that?

Speaker 7 (32:31):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (32:31):
There's there's there's some that are mixed in I'm I mean,
I'm fever. We we have nearly a couple of hundred.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
Oh geez, and that short amount of time with the slogans, Yeah,
it's look, you got your work cut op for you today.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
It's a Friday.

Speaker 4 (32:44):
The lamellow trade is an official rooms are restless on
a Friday. I'm sure it's also related to Team USA
not being in the World Cup anymore. So there's there's
a lot of people would bite this morning? You see
here talkbacks heavy on the Super Bowl slogan.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
Side morning Pa, Morning Nordo, Hey Todd From from the
Lake of Leech to Huntington Beach. What do you think?
I don't mind it.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
I would change the beach to Redondo, Redonda or Santa Monica.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
Is that closer? Yes? Okay, it's yeah, where where Inglewood
is located?

Speaker 1 (33:27):
So you go Inglewood, then you go Torrents where lax
Is the airport, so Inglewood as the crow flies is
probably five miles from the ocean, maybe seven. How long
would that drive take? About thirty five minutes, it really was.
That's ridiculous, man. So yeah, so I mean you change
that thing to Redondo Beach and I think I think
we're in. I think we're in play.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
Right, They've been used already, but I haven't heard it.
From Deep Freeze to palm trees. Mm hmm, thank you,
thank you, thank you. I'm absolutely downloading that. Where's LaMelo?

Speaker 3 (34:00):
Where is he? See here? Apa Nardo?

Speaker 2 (34:06):
From forty one Zip to Cali and winning the chip
mm hmm. School, I mean the.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
Forty one zip you got. You got to dust off
your uh you have to massage your elite football memory
to recognize the not the last time the Vikings were
in the uh SO three NFC title games ago. Yeah,
we went to the New York Giants, oh goodness at
the meadow Lands and we Tom Peyton cheated. We got No,

(34:36):
it was was Peyton on that staff. Peyton was the
OC Are you kidding me? Jim Jim Fossel was the
head coach. God rest his soul.

Speaker 4 (34:43):
I believe it was either QB coach or ocum ninety
nine percent. Sure, Sean Payton, all right, he was absolutely
on the team.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
So Pa and Doubay are doing nine to noon in
our set and excuse me ten to one just for
fun at AM eleven thirty kfa in and Bloomington and Xerxes.
And after that game, because we were we Colmon tapped
out of Vikings fan line in ninety eight.

Speaker 2 (35:06):
He just didn't want to do it.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
So boss Berg was like, you guys want to do it,
and yeah, for sure, I had just gotten here full
time and just started memory Lane we go. And Dubay was,
I mean, lifetime Vikings fan just like you. And so
after the ninety nine season, we take that forty one

(35:28):
zip l and within a week after the game, the
whatever the big Toronto newspaper is, it's a big, big
Canada newspaper.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
Let's just call it the Gazette, Yeah, the Sun, the Globe,
something like that.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
Well they had sources that because the Vikings had communication
problems during the game Toronto Star Toronto Star the headphones
and the communication was sporadic.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
Well they finally got it fixed.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
But then when you watch the game back, it's so
amazing how Carrie Collins knew where every single blitz was
coming from. I mean, the dissecting of a forty one zip.
It takes a lot to beat somebody forty one zero
in a conference championship game. Well, the the New York Giants,

(36:23):
the two weeks later played the Baltimore Ravens in the
Super Bowl, might have gotten beat by thirty five. I
always love that one.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
So there was that too.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
But that Toronto newspaper had intel from sources the New
York Giants all game, not a few times, all game.
We're stealing play. And now you're telling me Sean Payton.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
Was on the staff.

Speaker 4 (36:45):
Let me find out exactly what position he was, absolutely
on the team.

Speaker 1 (36:48):
Boy the uh And I'm pretty sure it was the
depth of this anti Vike analogy Nine to Noon put
on Sean Payton many years ago, the one with the
visor and the ten horns coming out of the visor.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
Yeah it little did we know?

Speaker 1 (37:06):
I mean that you know that nine biblically speaking from
the Gridiron Gospel would be like the New Testament version.

Speaker 2 (37:14):
Of Sean Payton.

Speaker 1 (37:15):
I mean, we're getting back in the Toro with this
in nineteen ninety nine.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
If it really goes back that far.

Speaker 4 (37:21):
Uh, he was the quarterbacks coach in nineteen ninety nine,
but the two thousand season, which was forty one, don't it. Yeah,
he was the offensive court Yeah two thousand, thank you
very much, was the offensive coordinator now. And his headset worked, right,
his headset worked, and you could say his career skyrocketed
after that particular two thousand Jesus it did with what

(37:43):
he was able to do. Wow, with a re emerging
Kerrie Collins that two thousand season.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
Yeah, then the Ravens just disdtroyed and yeah, I mean
it's so this is before I was calling Vikings games
and k Fan used to have Vegas trips where like
the Power Trip does now. I think they have their
twenty fifth their twenty fifth anniversary or something.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
Twenty fifth.

Speaker 4 (38:07):
We're going to Circa. Yeah, there you go, gonna be
a big blowouts. Cool, that's gonna be sweet. So we
used to do it all the time.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
Pa and Dobay and and Charge went on this trip
after after the NFC title game and that story had
come out in the Toronto Star. We were completely pissed
off that dreams. I mean, I just got here, so
like I'm completely new to this heartbreak, but I'm living

(38:33):
it with everybody else. Yeah, so we we and and
there are so many losing stories that I can share
from over the years that permit permit me to actually
share a positive story that we and charts put me
on this so Fica Fairness and Charge Act.

Speaker 2 (38:51):
It was his idea.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
It's we were so incensed at what we were learning
about these sources and stolen plays and the whole thing.
We took the Baltimore Ravens in that Super Bowl. We're
in Vegas and I'm not working for any form of
the NFL. We took the Ravens minus three and a half,
seven and a half, ten and a half and thirteen

(39:15):
and a half Vegas a flagpole, biggest scoop.

Speaker 4 (39:19):
Ever, my goodness, which hurts worse because I was only
sixteen at the time. Twenty seventeen Philly flop or two
thousand forty one rip.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
I'm going to say two thousand, because I had just
moved here full time. I mean, I'd been here like
a year and a half doing AM eleven thirty KFA
and in Bloomington, so I was, you know, I was
a young man. So at that time I'm thirty three
years old at that time, I had no favorite football team.

Speaker 2 (39:54):
I grow up in Washington, d C. I'm a Redskins fan.

Speaker 1 (39:58):
Well, then after Mom divorces multiple times, i end up
in southern California, So I'm not a Rams fan. They're
playing their games at Anaheim Stadium, coached by John Robinson
and Jim Everetts their quarterback. So like I watched the
Rams play football at Anaheim Stadium. Middle of the nineties,

(40:21):
Al Davis moves the Raiders to the LA Coliseum. Well,
I'm not a Raiders fan either, So then I start
racetrack announcing in ninety three in the Bay Area. I mean,
I'm watching Steve Young, Joe Montana. I'm not a Niners fan.
So when I got here, I was a kid without
a team. And when Common.

Speaker 2 (40:41):
Taps out a fan line, Bosberg is like, it wasn't
do you guys want to do it?

Speaker 1 (40:45):
It's you guys are going to do it from see
if you remember this, America's original sports bar at Mall
of America. Oh yeah, that's where we did fan line
after every single game. We watched it there and there
with food and it was really cool. But I mean Seriously,
when you're a person without a team and you love sports,

(41:07):
now all of a sudden, God has chosen I get
to work in sports with a microphone. That's crazy. But
I don't have a favorite football team. When your first
year is the ninety eight Vikings and that's the first
year of doing something called Vikings fan line, yeah, like,
I'm not going to fall in love with everything involving
this purple and gold production.

Speaker 2 (41:28):
I mean I fell in love with that team like
I lived here all my life. Yeah, that's beautiful.

Speaker 4 (41:32):
And that was the ninety eight season for me as
I was thirteen into fourteen. That was the first time
because you know, I remember the Twins World Series in
ninety one, but I'm six and seven with my dad, right,
so you can love it at that point. But still
I was kind of in on players, like I was
fascinated with Bo Jackson and Dion Sanders and eventually you know,

(41:55):
Ken Griffy Junior, those sorts of things. Yeah, wanted the
Vikings to win, but didn't really understand it at a
more emotionally compelling level.

Speaker 2 (42:04):
So that's the nineties, right until Randy showed up.

Speaker 1 (42:07):
Yeah, so you got so, I mean when you were
getting a bit by the sports vibe, So just give
me a yes or a no as to whether you
loved him or not.

Speaker 2 (42:19):
But they were big. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (42:21):
Michael Jordan absolutely, Ken Griffy Junior absolutely, Patrick Ewing, Yes,
Bo Jackson all time, Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Dwight Gooden,
I know, yeah, rememberte Well the Bulls Championship parade so
down in fan Cato with Basic cable. Randy Johnson had

(42:41):
just started pitching. Randy Johnson all time. Absolutely, so Roger Clemens,
this is the bomb. Channel fourteen I think it was
like Bresnan Cable or something.

Speaker 2 (42:49):
Back in the day.

Speaker 4 (42:50):
Channel fourteen was WGN and Channel fifteen was TBS, and
on Channel fourteen you got White Sox games.

Speaker 2 (42:57):
You still had.

Speaker 4 (42:58):
Harry Carey, I had show on Dunstan and Mark Grace. Yeah,
you're watching the Turk Wendell with the teeth necklace.

Speaker 1 (43:05):
Ryan Sandberg, Jerome Walton in center field unbelievable, right, and
like Ray Durham and some of these guys with the
White Sox in the nineties.

Speaker 2 (43:14):
So you get those.

Speaker 4 (43:15):
But every year, because it was Title Town USA with Jordan,
you get the championship parade, and I would sit at
home because I was babysat by television as a child,
and I'd watch those championship parades and just yeah, I
as a kid, I immortalized Michael Jordan.

Speaker 1 (43:30):
Well, especially that channel that at a certain time of
the day would have the squiggly lines in it, and
you'd be like, oh, yeah, Dad, what's she doing behind
these quiggly lines?

Speaker 2 (43:41):
I always love it. I believe that that was Cinemax.

Speaker 4 (43:43):
It was Channel twenty two and with a free preview
weekend hittally watch out.

Speaker 2 (43:49):
Yeah, but no, that's wow. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (43:52):
Two thousand was tough. Twenty seventeen's tougher for me, maybe
just because of the recency. Thankfully, I've been doing it.
You don't we should do Let's pause and jump back
into the talkbacks, okay, and instead of NBN, we'll kind
of continue on with the talkback theme and maybe some
listeners can create their A topics via the free iHeartRadio
app as well. But I'm still sifting through about two

(44:14):
hundred of these things.

Speaker 1 (44:15):
Indian on the Fly Twins lost to Gavin Williams yesterday.
I'm going to bring it up with Lavelli Neil the
third columnist for the Star Tribune when he's in studio
in an hour because he was at the game. Chelty
can't be happy with the way things developed yesterday. For
it was on nine to noon. I asked him, like
Gavin Williams, he can be really good, but the last
six starts he has some five and fly to when

(44:37):
what's going on? And Chelte could not have said it
any more plainly and loudly. Lay off the sweeper. If
they lay off the sweeper, they're going to be good.
So then I'm watching the game and every single Gavin
Williams pitch was the sweeping curveball and everybody was taking
l's on it. So we win a series, but we
lose yesterday. Mbope had an unbelievable goal yesterday. France advances

(45:01):
and Nordo has an appearance today at two o'clock.

Speaker 4 (45:03):
Where are you, yeah, mcceughs in Savage, mceughs in Savage.

Speaker 2 (45:08):
At two o'clock.

Speaker 4 (45:09):
It is Spain and Belgium sadly not our favorite team,
but we're gonna have beer towers of Mcultra and stell
Arta and we're gonna watch soccer or they got a
lot of TVs in there, but regardless, hang out of MCCUs.

Speaker 2 (45:22):
It's such an awesome spot in Savage.

Speaker 4 (45:24):
I'm gonna be there from around game time, around one
thirty to four thirty today, I'll be there, but the
game was Spain in Belgium's at two. Thank you so
much mcultru Stella for creating these World Cup watch parties.

Speaker 2 (45:35):
I just wish my team was involved. We still have
fun and all topics are in play.

Speaker 1 (45:39):
I mean it can be a dealer's choice at mccews
today and Savage, I mean, roll up to Nordo with
the what are you think of them queens?

Speaker 2 (45:48):
What do you think of them?

Speaker 3 (45:49):
Queen?

Speaker 2 (45:50):
About Tim queens?

Speaker 1 (45:51):
Into twenty twenty six and let's talk out the quarterback situation.
You work with Paul every single day. Is he drunk
thinking the team would go five? I've been one with
Carson Wentz. Can you please unpack that thing for me?
Talking about them queens? That's two o'clock today.

Speaker 2 (46:06):
All of that, I.

Speaker 4 (46:07):
Always get two questions, two questions since I've been working
at the fan, and one is is meat sauce? Meat
sauce that dumb? And then the other one is does
Pa really love the Vikings as much as he does
on that. Those are the two questions I get most off,
and I mean tons of questions called them.

Speaker 1 (46:27):
I'm coming into my twenty fifth season of calling their
games on the radio. You Homer, No, it's I just
I fake the funk. Jeez, that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (46:38):
You get that question. Do you really love do you
really love them queens?

Speaker 1 (46:42):
I love them quaens and I love talking about dem queens.

Speaker 2 (46:45):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (46:46):
