Speaker 1 (00:00):
Gentlemen, this is the nine to noon radio presentation back
at full strength. That's debatable always were. We have a
big one tonight, ladies and gentlemen. No it's no, no, no, no,
no no. It's not the punchless Yankees against red Hot
Tampa Bay. No no, no, no no. It's not Indiana

(00:20):
Fever steam with Caitlin because she played yesterday.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
No no, no no no.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Olivia Miles goes at seven tonight here at Target Center.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
But it's not that either. We have a big one tonight,
ladies and gentlemen. Hello, Ma, Yes.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
In the USA two and sing it.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
I Love our country.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
A big one tonight, Yeah, beginning the show with the
world copy.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
Well, I probably goes without saying, but I'm gonna say anyway,
I don't like you.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Nordo on the scene for USA Belgium tonight, you got
any of those ditties going on and welcome.

Speaker 5 (01:13):
Back, welcome back to you as well. No, there's a
watch party on my couch tonight. That's that's where the
watch party is now. If Team USA are victorious against Belgium,
then Friday afternoon at mcceughs around two pm in Savage.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
How about that is like you got a bet on
the game. You don't have to put up your own money.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
You'll be joining me at mcews and Savage on Friday
at two to watch a US quarterfinal, so looking forward
to that. Oh, this is amazing, PA, with how this
tournament has transpired, how it's been inspired, and the games
have been pretty incredible too, most notably our most recent
I should say, even last night in Mexico, England was

(01:55):
a banger at Azteca. You're gonna get to be there
for Vikings Niners in November. But today is a night
round US sixteen. This has been This is a rematch
of World Cup twenty fourteen. Pa. It is a rematch
of mister Lukaku, mister de Bruyna. Who are they? You'll
find out they beat the United States the Belgians did
in twenty fourteen. An opportunity for the United States to

(02:17):
end their tournament later this evening. They'll face the winner
of Portugal in Spain. If they do so. A beautiful Monday,
get your Red, White and Blue out. July fourth was
on Saturday. Let's just extend those Independence Day country and
pageantry vibes into a Monday night. Team USA moving on
and they got their guye back.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
The producers nicknamed for today will be Alabama Sweats.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
I always love that one.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
How excited are we all for the knockout sixteen? The
colors well for Nordo proclaim his excitement for what it's worth.
I happen to be quite excited about tonight and was
pumped for Mexico with home country advantage against gry Kane
last night.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
And if you're yawning right now, it's all good.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
Yah. Well probably goes without saying, but I'm not saying anyway,
I don't like you.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Well, I understand it's sports snobbery stuff. Not everybody gets it,
top shelf recognition, love for a country negative on Benedict Arnold,
The beautiful game, you know, the game, the sports, the game,
the matches. The White House gets with the head of
an organization like say FIFA and coerces them into resending

(03:30):
a red card that looked FATA complete Friday and the
best player on red, white and blue gets to play tonight.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
The White House.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Clomped, and Belgium fans from Brussels to Bruges are super negative. Yes,
how excited are we tonight? Talkbacks? If you're so inclined.

(03:57):
iHeart free, iHeart at microhone up to thirty seconds. You
know the drill talkbacks. If you're up for it, we
can sprinkle them in during the course of the radio show.
This afternoon, this morning, it's a muggy Monday in the neighborhood.
Everybody's all excited, and you can voice st excitement via
the talk back contraption. And yeah, it's the game that's

(04:20):
that's slower than the others, and expecting scoring sometimes can
be of the teeth pulling variety. I always love that one.
But consider this, Consider this. This is next level sports snobbery.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
In good morning.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Think of envision the soccer ball slow rolling to an
opposing goalie. He holds it and looks around, then rolls
it like five feet to a teammate, and then they
slow roll up the field.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Here's the point.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Soccer also is the game tailor may for those who
can't sit still in the time. The slow roll gets
to the keeper and he pretends he's looking for something
and trying to make a play, then slow rolls it
to a teammate five feet away.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
You can look at your phone.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
You can tweet TikTok, insta snap, live stream, FaceTime, WhatsApp
right on your computer, go to the bathroom unless you're
me and an in game hydration breake type duration is
required for the announcer of.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
These days, I always love that one.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
There's so much you can do during the course of
a slow rolling soccer game. I mean it's you can
play with the kids, read a page from a book
to them, pay attention while they're at You can actually
pay attention while they're in the tub.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Ask your wife Howard day was you see? You see?

Speaker 5 (05:50):
You can accomplish a lot.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Be a sports snob, all right.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
There are myriad breaks like that where you can do
other stuff. And seriously, there's minimal chance you're gonna miss
something quick fire and stunning. But you got to know
what you're looking for. And it's that ball slow rolling
to the opposing keeper. And then he holds it and
walks around and looks down the field like he's going

(06:16):
to do that windmill arm wind and throw at thirty yards,
when in reality he's holding onto it, pretending he's looking
for something so his teammates can catch their breath before
one of two hydration breaks, and then he rolls it
to a teammate in the business. Some would call them fallbacks,
could be strikers, midfielders, but nevertheless they're teammates. And during

(06:39):
that slow roll, then the team slow rolls to midfield.
There's so much you can do. You guys are missing everything.
If you ain't liking this.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Yeah, well it probably goes without saying, but I'm not
saying anyway, I don't like you.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
We promise just peek at the sucker a couple of times.
And then when like like, peek at the TV a
couple of times. All right, during this whole slow roll facade,
then when they get close to the box, drop everything.
I mean, it's like, what are you doing? The USA
might get a goal. Honey, you need to watch Billy

(07:17):
Johnny Christy, Suzi Tamik or Antwine in the tub because
I got to watch this USA soccer team. That's all
tonight and it's a big one. Also coming up big
in the Covenant is Hoffman Cooling and Heating and this
weekend wrap fifty nine dollars for that high performance AC

(07:39):
check and tune up. And you better make sure that
baby's working the right way for the kids and the animals.
Right now, I mean, shoot, if you're concerned with this,
with this muggy, the muggy nature of the weather and
the heat just started Hoffmannheating dot net and get a
new air conditioner. And here's what you're gonna do, because

(08:01):
nine to Noon prides itself on saving you money. Ask
for Scott hendricks mention. You heard it here and see
if he does anything new air conditioner. Who knew Hoffmannheating
dot nep. You know who doesn't do anything anymore? That'd
be the New York Yankees. Remember when we never ever, ever,

(08:24):
ever beat the New York Yankees.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Well, chelt wanted none of that.

Speaker 6 (08:29):
Side Bell left field state fair, down the line towards
the poll, and that poll is fair, and God Josh
Bell down the left field line, number twelve and the
Twins late seven to four twelfth home run for Bell.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
I mean fourth of July weekend in New York City.
Think about that fourth of July weekend in New York City.
Levin on the Red, White and Blue Yankee Stadium pack
Rubes in the Legend suite, calmly sipping chardonnay. But Chelty's

(09:07):
Pesky gang wanted.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
None of it.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
For whom the bell tolls twice.

Speaker 6 (09:14):
Bell in the air to right center field to big
Is going back to the wall, and Josh Bell has
done it. The seventh twin ever to Homer from both
sides of the plate of the same game of the
Twins break it open once again. It is a four
un eighth fitting eleven four twins.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Here the Bronx, I heard it? Did you hear it?

Speaker 7 (09:35):
The Bronx cheering the hole, the booze. The Bronx cheers
the booze. Holy cow, they bored with their team. Man,
And you know a lot like Josh Bell with those
home runs, but with the New York Yankees the Minnesota Twins.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Since you're pitching is bad and Judge is hurt and
your fans are hurt because they're booing. So Chelte's group
simply played the role of opportunists. And what we did
is we went out there and meat loaf the pen
stripes hard.

Speaker 6 (10:13):
Hit, head to base, it to center. Keith Shawl is in.
Here comes Austin Martin and royce Lewis see two out,
two runs, single and the lead bubbles. It is four
nothing Minnesota. A big hit from Royce Lewis. This is
about the punchless New York Yankees. You know, since twenty nineteen,

(10:35):
the Minnesota Twins and Yankees have played fourteen series. That's
just the second time the pin Stripes have dropped one
to our pesky bunch meat loaf two out of three.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Ain't bad. Google it.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
Fourteen series since twenty nineteen. Second one we got, but
you got to start somewhere, No matter then, No matter
the Yankee Yankees punchless into the night Ways Judge's injury
or pushing on us, Garrett call still is an ace.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
That's good work, boys.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Winning two out of three in South Bronx Covenant collapse
from nine to noon when you meet load the New
York Yankees.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
The Minnesota Twins host.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
Cleveland tomorrow and the Taj Bradley pitches for US. Minnesota
is four behind the White Sox for the division lead
and three behind said Guardians for second. Jose Ramirez is
out for Cleveland, and it sounds like tomorrow nine to
noon we may need some hot Jensen Lewis action to
properly set the scene.

Speaker 5 (11:36):
Al Central heat check.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
That'll be uh, that'll be after we celebrate the USA
getting to the knockout eight like Norway did yesterday.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Norway advances, yell.

Speaker 8 (11:52):
The businesses come hotlands again, go away, play the lights shining.
Sheld's been brilliant since it came home. Holland, he was
another one one. Yes, that's nice, extraordinary, just phenomenal. My

(12:14):
man led the Viking boat row. Bit And is a
force with which to be reckoned. It's it's arling correct
earling Holland, Arling Holland, Hurling Holland.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Game of Thrones fans, you'll pick him out in like
two seconds.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
I always love that one. Very easy to find.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Looks like he's a distant cousin to Calisi looking for
looking for her fastest dragon. I always love that one.
I led the Viking boat row. That was super sweet.
He's so big, this Holland. He's so big and formidable
in a game dominated by him. Bope Holland is a
cat in a game dominated by him. Bope Holland is

(12:56):
a cat that will pop thee. I always love that one.
In a game dominated by Bape, Holland is a cat
that will pop thee.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
I always love that one. That was stupid.

Speaker 5 (13:09):
You wrote that between the fifth and sixth race yesterday.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
What the hell I was doing with that? Last night?

Speaker 1 (13:14):
Mexico last night, ladies and gentlemen. So I probably thought
thing bout of Diablo and lascadatas last night. Mexico had
some home country advantage against Harry Kane's bunch and myriad
myriad soccer purists are telling me what was witness last
night between Mexico and England following that weather delay or

(13:37):
a hockey purist was ten of ten and uh the
team from across the pond, well, they got the money
pick five.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Minutes on the Cocks hit to Mexico, Nicks played on
to Harry kenycloff.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Is Alican.

Speaker 5 (13:52):
Turned out and in the plink of an eye, the
game's getting away from Mexico.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Uh So, England advanced says to the knockout eight in
a thriller and had to do it for a fair
amount of the game, playing eleven on ten, which.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
Is always super special. And that's the week in rap.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Courtesy of Hoffman Cooling and Heating fifty nine dollars AC
performance checking. Tune up Hoffmanheating dot net if you want
to buy an air conditioner, save money, get with Hoffman,
started Hoffmanheating dot Net and find Scott Hendrix tell him
nine to noon sents you and save.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
A little money.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
Would you consider yourself a soccer purist Alabama sweats.

Speaker 5 (14:34):
I guess I'd have to understand what part of the
game would you maintaining the purity or the integrity of it?
But yes, for the most part, I love the game.
I love the sport. This is my favorite tournament being
the World Cup. So as close to yeah, let's let's
call myself a purist, let's pepper the producer.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Yeah. Well, it probably goes without saying, but I'm not
saying anyway, I don't like you.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
So last night, the very very very casual soccer fan,
yet big time World Cup fan really really enjoyed the
national anthems for all the countries, all the colors in
the stadiums, the fact that England had a fair amount
of fans at LASTECA last evening and made it a

(15:19):
lot of fun, very physical game. Holland is the bomb,
and Bappe's the bomb, Messi's the bomb and the USA
play tonight against Belgium. So with all of that said,
my my take from the ten thousand view standpoint seems
that there were a couple of countries last evening giving

(15:40):
absolutely everything they had for said countries, And I mean
it was a physical game. You got England being tied
to Diego Mehra Maridona, something called like a goal from
God or the hand of God or something like that,
hand to God Maridona. Yeah, in that spot scratch, an

(16:01):
age old itch trying to push through and represent as
a blue blood soccer nation. And you got Mexico at home.
Did you happen to catch the Mexican national anthem?

Speaker 2 (16:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (16:16):
Holy cow, have you ever heard anything like that in
your life? With the entire stadium, the players and their
eyes closed and their palms to the sky.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
That was so beautiful. Yeah, I love it.

Speaker 5 (16:30):
I mean I would say that we've probably had the
opportunity to be a part of amazing anthems at American
sporting events our own. As I was texting with you
last night, there's an aspect one of my favorite parts
of the World Cup, the culture that you're exposed to,
you get a peek at, And so that was one
of those games. As I texted you, I would just
want to be it. As Teca have no emotional connection

(16:53):
to either squad, I don't, but just feel that aura
and when you have eighty some thousand people all in all,
in alignment, all singing that anthem. You see guys on
the field that are crying. They're so proud to represent
their country on that stage. And that was an opportunity
into that match last night, that Mexico. That's the hump,

(17:14):
This is the round they haven't been able to get over,
and every all the build up to it, but that
that anthem and just watching everybody soaked into that was
was pretty special.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
Harry Kane for England age thirty two. It's got some
captain cool to him. Yeah, he's pretty good. Okay. So
like in the Pantheon of Goats, as the kids would say,
greatest of all time, right, sure, the current goats and
the best players in the worldly game top of the
head and bope, messy, so on and so on and

(17:44):
so on.

Speaker 5 (17:45):
Yeah, your guy, holland thank you.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Where where is Harry Kane's in that group?

Speaker 2 (17:50):
Right? But he is thirty two years of age.

Speaker 5 (17:52):
Yeah, I mean he's he's getting older and so he
would be on the backside of his prime now. If
he pulls a messy and suddenly he's thirty eight, thirty
nine and he's still crushing it the way he is,
then that's a different conversation. He's definitely among the world's elite.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
With last Evenings match which England outdueled Mexico in a
purist related thriller, assuming Bope was watching, do you think
he's concerned?

Speaker 5 (18:18):
Do I think?

Speaker 2 (18:19):
No?

Speaker 5 (18:19):
I don't. And that's not because he shouldn't be. I
just don't think that. That's how Mbope views this entire thing.
Think about like, we hear it all the time, whether
it's in hockey where gosh who it's complete tip of
my tongue. But well, let's let's use Leo Jordan Leopold. Okay,
pretty nice career that he's spent in the National Hockey League,

(18:40):
but we talked to him. He goes to the finals
with Calgary one of his first years in the league, right,
and you get that instant success, and you think it's
gonna happen every single year, and for some, maybe it does,
for some it doesn't. And Bope won a World Cup
his first appearance. He was in the World Cup final
against Messi, dueling it outscores a freaking hat trick and
now he's doing what he does, Messi or not Messy,

(19:02):
and Bappe doesn't worry about anybody. However, I think he
very much should be worried about this All star team
in England that either is going to lull you to
sleep with mediocrity, or a guy like Bellingham's gonna jump
out in less than a minute and a half and
put two on the board, shove it down your throat
and send your team back home. So they should be worried.

(19:24):
There's a couple of really really strong contenders in this.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
Tourney, almost as And this popped up over the weekend.
I actually saw it at Pro football talk dot com.
Florio gets really into stuff like this when it comes
to TV ratings. Oh yeah, specifically if it flies in
the face, if it's counterculture, if it flies in the
face of what everybody tells us, everybody watches and things
to which they listen.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
Well, you know what he wants to do. He wants
to give us the reality.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
I always love that one.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
Well, this is the reality that almost as many people
are watching USA World Cup soccer as the Super I
mean it's not like the same, and we got it's
millions less, but one of the games with like with
like like English speaking places.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
Stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
It was twenty four and a half million people with
I'm not sure if it was the last game or
the game before.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
I believe Bosnia and US. It peaked in the low.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
Thirties, thank you, twenty four and a half on the average. So, like,
what are the negatives not getting? I mean, if they're
not watching, I mean it's to play. The Benedict Arnold
card is a little strong. It is our country like it,
I think, and and we're advancing. And I mean maybe
maybe Schlittler versus Tampa Bay for those punchless Yankees. Is

(20:45):
the top billing of the Bill of Fare for sports
knobs listening now, maybe it's Las Vegas Summer League basketball
and Baron j playing some four. Maybe it's sitting around
twiddling your thumbs waiting for some thing to happen with
Dylan Larkin.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
That's all good.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
I just wonder if on average twenty four and a
half million people are watching the Knockout sixteen. For those
who aren't, what do you think they're not getting or
they're missing?

Speaker 5 (21:13):
Yeah, well, I mean biased. I would say that they're
missing tremendous competition, they're missing bias, the national connection, the
pageantry of supporting your country, those sorts of things in
the same way that bars and restaurants were filled up
and the Bloody Mary's were flowing in mass at seven
or eight in the morning on a Sunday as team

(21:34):
USA beats Canada and the gold medal hockey game, stuff
like that. So but to that end, I don't if
you don't like soccer, like I've never been that person, Like,
why don't you get it? How come you don't understand it?
And there are criticism around it that are super valid.
And in the United States, the U sports system has
pushed you into various boxes, and you know, soccer has

(21:56):
always been there and accessible, but it's kind of a
daycare sport. It's kind of a second tier. I love
the NFL, I love Major League Baseball, I love the
NHL hoops, et cetera. There's a lot going on right now.
People are sweating. When is Billy g gonna bring Dylan
Lark into town? People are sweating. Can can this freaking
Twins team find their way with this ragtag bunch of

(22:17):
n'erdells into postseason conversation? NFL rules all all the time,
I think, and I don't know what it is and
exactly what it is. I do think that there is
almost a specific you could almost call it a petulant
distaste for the sport when it is a topic of conversation.
I think people it's reflexive in some ways that they

(22:41):
will not allow themselves to get hooked into this. And
for me personally, I just I love it and if
you don't, that's all good. I'm mad at you. There's
maybe good reasons why you don't, but to that, to
you know, in that particular realm soccer has always hit
people in very polarizing ways in this country. But thirty

(23:04):
one thirty three million people watching it. That tells the
story of people that want to get behind their country,
that want to get behind what's happening right now in
this tourney, the smashing success that it has had as
hosts in our country along with Canada and Mexico, and
this tournament is drawing more eyeballs than any prior to it,

(23:25):
and it is with more teams, bringing more people onto
the stage, the independent stories of some of these teams.
It's really cool stuff happening and I just I hope
people are open to taking a peek at it, including
today at seven when we smash those damn Belgians.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Looking forward to that at seven o'clock tonight and closing
for this segment, the knockout six team. Is this the
round where Mama says, knock USA out. I'm going to
knock you out? Is this the round we generally get
knocked out?

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Yeah? It is big night tonight.

Speaker 5 (23:56):
So it was it was cool that the round of
thirty two you beat Bosnia the way that this new
tournament's situation has been set up with the forty eight teams,
to lose to Bosnia last week would have been disastrous,
and so you have those extra elements in play with
the round of thirty two where potential upsets can happen.
We saw Cabo Verde take in Argentina right to the

(24:17):
freaking wire. Who would have seen that coming.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (24:19):
But now this is where the United States have generally
been tripped up. I I mentioned twenty fourteen US loss
to Belgium. Twenty eighteen, they didn't qualify. Last World Cup,
they lost to the Dutch in the round of sixteen.
The last time they got beyond this was when they
beat Mexico to nothing in two thousand and two to

(24:40):
get to a quarterfinal before being brutally robbed by a
referee who didn't call Torsten Frings for a handball on
the line, which would have led to a penalty, which
would have led to a potential equalizing goal. But I'm
over it now. It's been twenty four years, so well,
wait a second.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
You think that's brutally robbed, try living in Brussels or
Bruges and read the White House has rescinded, help to
rescind a red card with the person who leads FIFA.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
I always love that one. Are you kidding me with that?
How in the heck does that happen?

Speaker 6 (25:11):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (25:11):
I can't wait for that to maybe even come up
later in the show because it is just a percy man.
It is, it is. It's unprecedented.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Where was the White House and No. Nine during bounty Gate?

Speaker 5 (25:20):
Come on?

Speaker 1 (25:21):
I mean, honestly, Obama couldn't have made a call. Yeah, seriously,
a quarterback almost died. I always love that I can
make a call at halftime and see what Pete Morelli's doing, Like,
what are you guys doing out there?

Speaker 2 (25:34):
Rescind this bounty Gate thing? Man? Holy cow?

Speaker 5 (25:37):
So that's where we're at. If the if the United
States win tonight, they would be moving to a spot
they have not been in a quarter century. So it's
a really really big chance tonight.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
The big one tonight, the big one. It's a big
one tonight.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
All use sports snobs, and that's why Nine to Noon
laid it out for all the way we did. You
have you have the country we love, but you also
have you have time to do things during soccer games
that you won't do during football or basketball or hockey games.
Kind of even during baseball too. With I mean, the

(26:11):
pitch every one twenty thirty thirty five seconds could be
a home run, you know, coming up to the very
next pitch when my man, when the opposing goalkeeper ends
up with the ball, and then he goes walking around
the box looking down the field, pretending like he's looking
for something to happen, when in reality, he's just letting

(26:31):
his dogs catch their breath because that's a lot of
running out there. And then he rolls it ahead five
feet to a teammate, and then he slow rolls up
the field and passes it and then they're bored with
the set so then they kick it back to the
keeper and they do the whole thing again. I mean,
you can actually watch the kids in the tub, you
can make a sandwich, you can tweet, you can text.

(26:53):
There's so many things you can do during the beautiful game.

Speaker 5 (26:56):
I mowed the lawn.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
That you can mow the lawn during two.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
If you take the hydration breaks in the halftime, you
can get three quarters of your lawn mode. I always
love that one. These guys have it all figured out.
Guess what the world You're wrong and the world is right.

Speaker 4 (27:13):
Yeah, well probably goes without saying, but I'm not saying anyway,
I don't like you.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
All of that's courtesy of timber Tech and timber tech
dot com. Manny Lagos, Minnesota Soccer Immortality will be with
us at ten o'clock. We got bikes, bikes around the corner.
Pete Fox is here at eleven. Haven't chatted with that
elite basketball mind in a few weeks. Curious to get
his thoughts on a La Mellow ball, Trey Lyles.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
And some other stuff Nordo produces. And I'm Paul Allen.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
We're back together again at FM one hundred point three kfam.
This is the nine to noon presentation on your favorite station.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
The kids call it Kfan.

Speaker 9 (27:49):
Good morning, you're listening live to Paul Allen and nine to.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
New Bikes Bites returned to the equation.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
Yours truly did it three times last week Sands Nordo.
It's a Nordo presentation tied to a Nordo client and
who has said client.

Speaker 5 (28:18):
Yes, indeed Byes Bikes Bites is brought to you by
Kinmount Exteriors the website Kinmount Exteriors dot com. We're talking
decades of construction experience and the clear quote promise that
kin Mount Exteriors provides. The key here is multifaceted windows, siding,

(28:39):
roofing and decks, no headaches, no hidden costs. It's kin
Mount Exteriors and just really pumped to meet these guys
and get them on board as new sponsors of Ikes Bites.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
By the way, here's the deal. Yours truly ran into a.

Speaker 1 (28:59):
Loving and visual a loving fan, a loving person who
was very kind, who from about twenty feet away somewhere
within the last week at Canterbury Park hit me with.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
A PA, how about Tim Queens? What do you think
about Tim Queens this year?

Speaker 1 (29:19):
So after being corner after after chatting with the individual, Uh,
this is fireum fairness in Rube act all right, f
I R a fairness and Rube act.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
This is a Rube generated talker. I ain't kidding you.

Speaker 1 (29:42):
I mean, after that, how about DM queens it. It
was my man hit me with this and at the
end of it, I said, holy cow, I like how
you laid that out. I think I might write it
out and share a nine to noon next week, maybe
on a Northern fire Talker to day, or maybe on
a Monday. So I wrote this whole thing out for

(30:04):
bike Spits today and I'm just going to read. I'm
going to read two sentences and a closing paragraph and
make sure make sure that all of you are with
us tomorrow for the talkback Talker Tuesday. Because this ended

(30:24):
up it's fire a fairness and rubac. I mean, my
man put me on a nice little typing spree here
with the way he phrased this thing up.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
And here it is.

Speaker 5 (30:33):
You have like sort you have soresby like notes in
front of you right now. This bit you a little bit.

Speaker 1 (30:39):
He asked me this question. Is Kyler Murray in any
way playing for his career and looked at it that way?
I thought about it that way. Okay, So giving given
I'm obsessed with the contextual nature of questions like that.
I then asked him, well, when you say playing for

(31:02):
his career, what do you mean? And he was ready
barness and rubac. He said, well, not his full career,
like if things are bad here this year with Tim Queens,
but like his starting career. And I said, oh, so
this now is going to be for tomorrow, and I'll

(31:24):
explain why in a second. Is Kyler Murray in any
way playing for the starting nature of his career? And
I can't wait to unpack it because it was very,
very enjoyable to write. The second sentence is going to
be Kyler Murray, through the first eight years of his
career that includes this year's pay sans bonuses, has made

(31:46):
two hundred six million, seven hundred ninety one thousand, seven
hundred eighty four dollars.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
Governor collapsed for Kyler Murray.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
However, regulations that's before taxes who it's even the squeeze
for Kyler. So he has enough money to not care
or he has enough money for the project not to work.

Speaker 2 (32:13):
Got you going a little bit there, didn't it.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
This old Rube equation that nine to new rode out
over the last two days. He has enough money to
not care or he also has enough money for the
project not to work.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
So we're going to stop there and then go to
the end.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
And this is what you're going to get for the
ending of this tomorrow because it's it's talked back worthy.
It is Minnesota three two Minnesota Vikings Training Camp twenty
twenty six is one of the more fascinating we've had
in a while, for sure because of the new kids
on the defensive line, Banks and Citrus.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
But Kyler Murray has some shiny toy to him.

Speaker 1 (32:57):
He's a legit reclamation project in search of saving a
starting career, and he very well could hold the key
to high end Minnesota Vikings offensive success.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
Nine to noon. Cannot wait to see it develop.

Speaker 1 (33:16):
But please join us tomorrow because that that will be
part of the Northern Fire Talker Tuesday that has some
legitimate talkbacks to it.

Speaker 5 (33:26):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (33:26):
You know why we paused that there because we just
don't have time to properly do it the right way
and football always wins we go, so we we got
to make sure we do that thing the right way
tomorrow with the Steves Appliances Marathon time, that whole thing together,
we're gonna get that tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
Meanwhile, back at the Ranch, Bike's bikes was provided by.

Speaker 5 (33:48):
Who kin Mount Exteriors Kinmount Exteriors dot Com. Let me
ask you this, Pa, because I was stumbling upon something
just weekend, waiting for waiting for soccer games, and it's
Vikes bites in July and we're all pining for this
quarterback competition to come to fruition. But I saw this
via Vikings dot com and it was Craig Peters and

(34:11):
he was doing his mail bag bits. And love what
Craig does for the Vikings dot com and the work
he wints in. But it sparked a question for me,
is you look at Juwan Jennings. Now take the quarterbacks
out of the equation for a bit. We're excited about
the Florida Cat, let's get that foot healthy, Dominique Orange,
Big Citrus, and the highlights that are going to be

(34:33):
come in via the Vikings Audio Network with you and
Pete are going to be tremendous. So we know all
the names and all the faces, the punter that throws,
the punter that pass.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
I think O'Connell's locked in to do quarter three with
us on TV and radio at Denver.

Speaker 5 (34:48):
And I mean that is can't miss simulcast related beauty,
and hopefully, maybe maybe Justin Jefferson makes an appearance. I
don't want to push it, and but he's as good
as it gets. You get a free Vocally's out of
the deal, and I think everybody wins too.

Speaker 2 (35:04):
Bear too, I always love that one.

Speaker 5 (35:07):
Which is the most important addition? Would it be your
Caleb Banks first round equity? Would it be the big Citrus?
Would it be a free agent as your or would
it be the return of a fully healthy Christian Deisolo?

Speaker 2 (35:26):
You know what? That is?

Speaker 1 (35:27):
So media and juicy. I think it's perfect for vikes
bites on Wednesday. I always love that one. Here's what
I'm thinking about. Okay, the music fire up nine to noon?
Good morning, Okay, who's the best player on Argentina?

Speaker 2 (35:42):
And why?

Speaker 4 (35:43):
Well, it probably goes without saying, but I'm not saying anyway,
I don't like you.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
Who's the best player on Argentina? And why?

Speaker 5 (35:50):
Okay? Well, the best player on Argentina would be Lionel Messi,
the greatest in my lifetime and possibly the last century
to even play the freaking game, the greatest we've ever seen.
And so yes, it would be Lionel Messi who truly
does it all for for those defending champion Argentinians.

Speaker 1 (36:12):
Will they dust Egypt today? Dust them? Well, they don't
play today, was not today. No Argentina and Egypt. No,
it's all good. It's it's just tomorrow, mall. But it's
at eleven am.

Speaker 5 (36:27):
You know what that means, distraction factor final hour nine
to noon tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
I'm gonna watch so much YouTube tonight and gravy drain
how they call the play by playoff soccer is done
and I'm gonna do it off the TV for the
final hour nine to noon.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
Ay, I think I can be the analyst.

Speaker 5 (36:44):
Yes, I think as as far as anybody goes uh,
the easy not the easiest route, Yes, the easiest route
thus far, I think is has been what Argentina has
had to face from the group stage to now facing Egypt.
Egypt kind of a one man operation. This guy Mohammed Salah,
longtime big timer in Premier League. But they with Egypt's

(37:05):
tournament ends tomorrow. Yeah, I do believe.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
Lastly, for this seg do you think ayso leagues are
popping up anew all over the country with this USA
World Cup Cachet is all that happening right now with
the thirty million watching.

Speaker 5 (37:21):
That's a good question, man, you know, and that would
be well, it's a good question because, in similar ways
to what we were talking about last segment, you hit
me with. You're like, hey, Norda, you love soccerbe what
are the negatives not getting? What are the negatives not
seen here?

Speaker 2 (37:37):
Well, they're not sports snobs and it's next level stop.

Speaker 5 (37:39):
Maybe that's part of it. But in the end, when
the United States hosted the World Cup in nineteen ninety four,
this was on the front end of trying to launch
major league soccer. Domestic leagues in this country had not
been long lasting, nor were they very successful for extended
periods of time. But the excitement over World Cup ninety
four and the momentum that was seen after that, it

(38:03):
didn't hold. It didn't hold. In the greatest respect, Pa,
there was certainly a spark, people loving it. You know what,
I'm gonna get my kids playing soccer and that's terrific,
But it didn't hold. Again, people still love playing football,
People love playing soccer until tackle football is an option.
People love playing soccer until the Traveling Hoops League begins.

(38:25):
So there, absolutely I believe will be some sort of
spark and a material and even measurable benefit from having
this tournament here in all those eyeballs watching. I do
not believe at this stage, as long as the youth
systems are set up the way they are, that there
will be truly a long term measurable spike in those

(38:45):
that participate into their teens and high school years. There's
going to be certainly new opportunities. Kids selling out. Wow,
I want my kid to get involved in this sport.
How that staying power? As kids become teenagers, kids start
to Hey, I can hit a baseball pretty well too. Hey,
I got this jump shot that's kind of working. Hey,

(39:06):
I'm just taller than everybody else, and I can dunk.
I'm the big kid. I'm terrific as a defensive lineman.
As that starts to happen, will the stain power for we?
Will it maintain? I at this stage would say no,
but I'm just really soaking in and enjoying the fanfare
around it and the casuals. You know, whether you know

(39:27):
everything or you know nothing, I don't care. Just turn
on the TV if you're interested. Support this nation. Support
this national team and have fun with it. So baseball
on the worldly stage. Yeah, I can't wait for the
World Baseball Classic. I always love that. I mean, is
it even every year? Who knows who plays?

Speaker 1 (39:44):
Nobody can find it me seriously, Just support your contra,
support your kind. Let's not go Benedict Arnold on this
and make it all prideful and stuff.

Speaker 5 (39:53):
Sure, how excited is everybody to.

Speaker 1 (39:57):
I mean, we're excited to see what Listic can offer
this evening against Belgium.

Speaker 5 (40:03):
It's a big one for him tonight.

Speaker 1 (40:04):
Excited everybody to watch Trey Kaufman ren in Summer League.

Speaker 6 (40:08):
Can you repeat the part of this stuff where you
said all about the things.

Speaker 2 (40:14):
Where wolves of London. It's nine forty five. You're listening
to nine to noon.

Speaker 9 (40:22):
Live on iHeartRadio and Ken.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
Bobby Bobby though.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
Nine f two, Welcome back, Parker Fox is with us
at eleven o'clock. Nordo's back from the Alabama Sweats and
is here to aid us with some Parker prep so
we don't miss a beat. With the eleven significant NBA
moves that have transpired the last week and change, Julius
and Na's gone. We know that LaMelo and Trey Lyles here.

(40:58):
We know that we'll handled that. And the dreamscape for
some that is Lebron James playing for the Timberwolves when
Big Boy arrives an hour're in change from now, but Alas,
there's much more to the transactions. Desk we go and
here is mad producer.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (41:15):
I don't know about you, you know, being on vacation
when news hits, it's it's not really a fomo thing
for me, you know, you think, but you think about
it a little bit differently. I wonder how I'll approach
this when I returned from vacation and you're sitting there
kind of watching some of the NBA some of these
transactions taking place, and it's like, whoa John Collins got
what this happened, et cetera. But this one kind of

(41:38):
struck me. PA the Jalen Brown, So Jalen Brown basically
carrying I think well, and Derek White had had a
say in this as well. It's a good team. I
get it, but without Jason Tatum, what the Celtics were
able to do, and in particular, what Jalen Brown was
able to do to keep that thing afloat until Tatum
gets back. I thought it was nothing in shorter remarkable,

(42:01):
but still at the end of the season, the way
the conversations are taking place is, you got you got
two guys making a ton of cash and Tatum and Brown,
and one of them's got to go, and it sounds
like it's gonna be Jalen, but Jalen to the Sixers
and Jalen Brown being traded from the Celtics to the
Sixers for Paul George, right, and multiple furs. I think

(42:21):
there was two firsts in a couple seconds. Maybe a
swap in the mix something like that as well. But
now kind of the way that whole thing changes over there.
If you're in if you're in Philly and you're you're
you're a Sixers fan and you're thinking, man, you know
this Paul George thing. I didn't like it when we
got him, and now he's gone, and we get to
replace that with Jalen Brown, and now I got to

(42:42):
figure out how that's gonna work with Oh yeah, Tyrese
Maxi and Embiid when he's healthy and able to play.
The The incredible, the the complexion of those two teams
changing as greatly as they did. That was the one
that kind of shocked me the most while I was
sitting down at golf shore enduring the Alabama sweats Jalen

(43:02):
Brown and the Sixers.

Speaker 1 (43:03):
Wow, it blew me away. Let's not forgive bj Edgecombe,
who nearly won Rookie of the Year. He's going to
be in his second year from Baylor, so they have
a squad. I'll save this. I'll save the context with
this for Peabox when he joins an hour from now.
If I'm Lebron James, I find a way to go
to Philadelphia.

Speaker 2 (43:23):
I always love that one, and we'll just leave it
right there. Wow.

Speaker 5 (43:28):
Let me see Maxi Edgecombe, Brown Lebron indeed squad squad. Wow,
that would be his squad less notable. But you know,
Kawhi Leonard maybe on the soon to be retirement tour.
He's heading back to Toronto where he won a title.
So he leaves the Clippers. One of your favorite players,

(43:51):
brandon Ingram kind of playing hot Potato, had trouble fitting in.
I think his glory days in the Bayou transition to
some ups and down in Toronto. Now he's headed to
the Clippers along with Grady Dick and some picks and
then uh, and then Walker Kessler. Walker Kessler were wondering
what's going on with him? Looks like a sign and trade.
He's headed to the Lakers. That was an opportunity for them.

(44:14):
New look to these new look to the Lakers. By
the way, now that Lebron's out of the mix, my guy,
Quinton Grimes comes from Philly to La. They re up
Austin Reeves, so it'll be Donchets and Reeves in the backcourt.
Grimes trying to hit a spare corner. Three here and there,
your guy Jake la Ravia and Walker Kessler. They also
got Colin sex dude. So Walker Kestler's with the Lakers.

(44:36):
Walker Kessler, I believe it was with the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (44:38):
Wait, somebody wanted to pay him a lot of money.
I always loved that way.

Speaker 5 (44:42):
I don't know how much money it was. I should
grab that oh and have it in front of me.
But but he is, uh, yeah, he's he's Now.

Speaker 2 (44:49):
That's why we call.

Speaker 1 (44:50):
This Parker prep because I did not know that, And
I greatly appreciate you having my verbal back.

Speaker 5 (44:56):
Yeah, I think it's Uh. I'm trying to find the
specifics of it. It was a sign and let me
grab it here, Walker Kessler. Okay, so yeah, he agreed
to sign a sign and trade deal, sending restricted free
agent to the Lakers in exchange. He's signed. He's signing
a four year, one hundred and thirty million dollar contract.

(45:16):
The Jazz are receiving unprotected twenty thirty one and thirty
three first round picks and pick swaps in twenty eight
and thirty.

Speaker 2 (45:23):
What what did P. T. Barnum one say?

Speaker 6 (45:27):
Can you repeat the part of this stuff where you
said all about the things?

Speaker 2 (45:31):
No, that was Homer Simpson. P. T. Barnum said, there's
a sucker born every day.

Speaker 5 (45:36):
Uh, speaking of suckers, and you can you can tell
me and take me deep on this because I just
this has hit me so hard as watching this thing unfold.
So Trey Young resigns with the with the with the Wizards. Yeah,
they have Anthony Davis, and I think that thing just
has to end at some point. The combination of the
health and all the things that go around making ad
such a centerpiece of the offense, I just don't think

(45:58):
it's going to work. But then they go out and get.

Speaker 2 (46:01):
Well they got that cat sar too complain.

Speaker 5 (46:03):
Well that that's the thing and and so you want
Sar to get those opportunities. And I'm just curious what
that looks like if you are still trying to force
feed ad into the mix. But now they added they
added DeAndre Ayton to the Wizards as well.

Speaker 1 (46:17):
The skeletal remains a DeAndre. Didn't you watch him in
the post? I mean, are you okay?

Speaker 5 (46:22):
Well, that's that's what I'm talking about, pa And and
you know Parker is going to come in at eleven
and he's going to set all this stuff straight. But
it's like, Okay, Trey Young, I get it.

Speaker 2 (46:29):
I thought there was a DC related deficit. And I
always love that way.

Speaker 1 (46:33):
Why do you get between the couch cushions for pennies
and nickels for DeAndre Ayton?

Speaker 5 (46:38):
And I know, I know that they love you know,
you got your bubb Carrington's and and you're I mean,
you're very bullish on Bola Kolabali. He is the bomb.
And then the the other Champagnie Julian's brother Justin. So
if you like those guys Kaishan George if I didn't
mention him, but if you like those guys, you're surrounding
that young talent. Saw this core with skeletal remains, and

(47:03):
it's just it's kind of interesting to see where the
Wizards are trying to head with this, doing whatever they can.
Now they got d Lo, man, they got d Lo
in the mix, so everything's good for the for the whiz.

Speaker 2 (47:12):
Oh they had the first overall pick too.

Speaker 5 (47:14):
Uh yeah, was it de Bonsa?

Speaker 2 (47:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (47:16):
Aj de Bonsa.

Speaker 2 (47:17):
That's right. So that's Pea Fox prep. There's a Lass.
There's more.

Speaker 1 (47:21):
He'll be here about an hour from now. We'll chat LaMelo,
we will chat Trey Lyles, Trey Lyles and and Lebron
and much more with Pa Fox thanks to Continental Diamond
and Saint Louis Park. When we return, Manny Lagos, who
was Minnesota soccer immortality, he joins the nine to noon
presentation on a muggy Monday in the neighborhood.

Speaker 2 (47:45):
It's k f a N.

Speaker 9 (47:46):
You're listening live to Paul Allen and nine to New
on iHeartRadio and FM one hundred point three.
