of those things is Isaiah Evans, and we don't really
have a guy on this Timberls roster as it currently
sits that's really a threat to come off of pin

down screens, come off of off ball actions, and be
catch and shoot ready. Without Dante DiVincenzo, I would assume
it can do it. Terrence Shannon Junior can do it,
but there's not really a true three point shooting off
ball guard on this Timberwolves team. Anthony Edwards obviously, but
he's more isolation with the ball in his hands. So
I'm excited to see when this trade and when everything

becomes official Isaiah Evans playing for the Wolves in summer League,
especially with guys like Joann Baron Jay and Rakozakarski setting
pin down screens for a truly really elite three point
shooter in Isaiah Evans.

And in the current iteration of the Minnesota Timberwolves. If
you're Tarren Shannon Junior, yes, what are you working on
in the off season? I mean, and how hard are
you working on it? Because there's gold in them our

Yeah, I think if you were to watch TSJ and
you watch what he became in the postseason with his
ability to get north and sUAS his athletic attributes at
the rim, everything is with his left hand, PA, So
I think for TSJ, it's it's being able to kind
of mix in that right hand. Right we see how
athletic he is in the air, kind of contorting his
body to different finishes, but he always goes back to

that left hand. So I think, for TSJ, can you
get more comfortable with that right hand going downhill?

I think there's a lot of things, and I think
you're right, Like there's a reason why the Timbers went
out and signed Jalen Clark to a three year deal
because of his defensive ability. Right, So, if you're Terrence
Shannon Junior, you have to find ways to put yourself
in the starting not the starting roster lineup, but off
the bench. Because there's Ioa Assuming, there's LaMelo Ball, there's
Anthony Edwards there we have really good guards on this team.
If you want to play, you have to bring something

to the court that's going to impact winning and I
think Chris Finch's has been clear about that since he's
been the head coach, like, if I'm going to put
you in the game, I have to trust that you're
gonna help us win basketball games. And for TSJ a
guy that's an off ball defender. With LaMelo who's not
the greatest defender in the world, you have to find
ways to compete on the defensive side.

I'm glad you mentioned that. In terms of getting minutes,
what can you offer this team? You have to be
productive in those opportunities because over the course of Finch's tenure,
you've heard it and we've disgusted nine to doones.

There's still people out there saying, man, Dillingham got screwed

these guys every day. You know, there's there's there's player
development guys with them every day, assistant coaches there every
single day, so you you know the insides and outs
of how these guys move, how they operate.

In the summer league, No greater stage than all these
summer workouts and practices for a guy like Joan barn
Jay or a guy like Isaiah Evans to show what
you have right, Like, the NBA is so different than
college basketball from just a playing standpoint, especially on the
offensive side of the ball.

You know, defense's defense.

You gotta you gotta hustle, you gotta box out, you
gotta you know, get in passing lanes, all that kind
of stuff. But when you set up an NBA offense,
it's different and either you kind of either have it
or you don't. Like you can find it eventually, but
we're gonna find out if there's any guys on this
summer league team that know how to run, you know,
an NBA offense. And a guy that I want to
mention that we should definitely keep our eyes on is
Devin mcglockton. He's a guy who went to Boston College

originally that he transferred to Vanderbilt.

He's kind of nas redish.

He has the ability to stretch the floor at six seven,
about two hundred and thirty pounds. He's a guy that
I think could really crack this Timberwolves you know, lineup
and roster. I don't think he's going to be a
playing guy, but maybe get a two way, maybe be
an E ten guy.

He's a guy I'm really high on. So how does
Trey Kaufman Wren play.
Speaker 5 (06:39):
Yeah, great name to bring up guy that I played
multiple times in my career. Trey is a unique player
because he's about as strong of a guy as I've
ever had to guard. You know, when our coach was
describing describing Trey Kaufman Renny, he's as strong as an ox,
you know, just big quads, big calves. Strong, He's got
great footwork. But Trey Kaufman Renner is really a true five.

He can't really play the power forward position. So I
think if you're Trey Kauffman w Ren, you're looking at
this five spot and saying, Okay, Rudy's there, Rocco's there,
Yoan's there. I don't know how much time there is
for me, But if you're Trey Kaffin ren what an
opportunity in front of you right to back up guys
like Joan and Zakarski, guys that have been in an
NBA system for the past year and learn a thing

or two.

His footwork is really good.

So I think if you have a chance to play
guys like Joan and Roko every day in practice, you're
going to rise to that level of performance and hopefully
he's able to show some stuff in the Summer League.

First of all, there's too many Jalen Williams in this
league because we have what there's two on OKC, we
have one, I think on our summer league roster. Do
question for you? Maybe it's a dumb one. Summer league's fun, right,
Summer league is a blast. It's a chance to get
to know some of these names. And I'm not trying
to put you on the spot, but can you think
of of a material or measurable example of a player

that went from maybe some obscurity in the summer League
for our team to then finding reasonable minutes or opportunity
once the game start counting. Terrren Shannon Junior certainly kind
of pops up in my head immediately in terms of like, oh, okay,
well everyone's talking about how old he is, but I
get it like he's kind of MBA ready right. That's

kind of how we discussed Dillon Hamm and Arren Shannon
Junior when we got them. But is there an example
of of of an opportunity or a player that takes
advantage of what he does in the seven h two,
and and and kind of pushes his way into the conversation.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
Well, nasrite Is is a great example of that, right,
an undrafted free agent You know, I'm not free agent,
undrafted rookie guy that came out of college, as you know,
a really good player. He was a high recruit, but
just like wasn't ready for the NBA game. He goes
to Iowa, he plays in the Summer League, and Tim
Kyley and his staff and whoever is you know at
the helm there, it decides like this guy's good enough,

let's give him a chance in the NBA and then
you make the most of it.

You mentioned Arren Shannon Junior, and I think that age
helps Nardo, Like you talk about being older seeing the game,
being able to experience that, like the college game is
such a step up from high school, but then the
NBA is just a whole another jump, right, so you
have to familiarize yourself with how the game works, how
people move. The NBA is so big about getting to spots.
You mentioned Jalen Williams. I think he's a guy that

you know is going to play for the summer League
team and he played at Auburn. He big, strong, guard
can shoot the ball from three. He's twenty five years
old as well, so he has experience. But we're gonna
see Roko Zakarski and Joan Barnjay this summer, and I
think it's going to be huge for them. Rocco is
probably going to play the five and start at the
Five's going to start at the four, which is going
to be new for Yoan, but I think they're going

to try it out, especially with this kind of who
knows what the power forward position is going to look
like for the Timberwolves. I think Yoon is a true five,
but we're going to see some mobility footwork from these
type of guys, and that's what I'm looking for the
most is how do these guys move out on the court,
especially when they're playing out of position. Are they comfortable
or does it just look really awkward and weird for
the big guys.

early in that game, and I think that was just
kind of an image of what the rest of the
game looked like. Right, this is a better Belgian soccer team.

We had to play a way higher level of soccer
and we weren't up for it in that day.

Yeah, I just I'm not over it yet. I'll be

We weren't in a position throughout that tournament as good
as things had looked to play, as lackadaisical as we
looked at times, we weren't moon walking through anybody. And
even I mean even when I saw the lineup come out,

morning that that top flight soccer kids in Germany get
paid fifteen thousand dollars and we're talking middle schoolers right

around there get paid fifteen thousand dollars to play for
club teams, where here parents pay fifteen thousand dollars to
take part in said program. So what I mean, there's
something there and it's under it's more than Germany. So
what do you what do you guys make of all that?
And in any way, Parker, do you find it to

Well, sus well, I think it's it is what it is, right, Like,
this is a world game. It's it's you know, played
at a higher level across the world, especially in Europe
and other countries. And our top athletes are are playing
other sports right They're playing basketball, they're playing American football.
Like I truly believe if if those of American football
and some of these other sports weren't as big, like

you would have probably better athletes playing those sports. And
that's that sport being soccer, and you would maybe have
more talent across the board. Now that isn't to say
that we don't have, you know, the level of talent
that we need to have to compete, Like I think
the USA has good enough players to go out there
and compete. Like they got out game planed, they got
out hustled, they got out worked in a in a
you know, sweet sixteen round of sixteen type of games.

So you're right away, you know, you're right there from
being a top ten quote unquote team in the world
if you put together a better performance. So yes, it
starts at the youth level though, pa like anything else does,
Like you have to have more kids playing the sport,
you know, to be able to succeed at it.

Yeah, the financial end of it, the infrastructure, think about it.
The infrastructure of clubs overseas has been something in the
making for decades upon decades upon decades. In the same
way that if Germany tomorrow decided, you know what we
want to we want to make a play for American
style football, we want to do that.

What a disaster that would be.

On the front end, how long it would take to
build a system of not just identifying talent, but coaching it,
training it, organizing it, and finding ways to create access
for all kids.

We are so far behind that Major League soccer clubs
themselves are just finally getting some traction in terms of
youth development, where the best kids, regardless of financial status,
have the accessibility to the elite training, so the pay
for play conversation comes up. I think that MLS is
trying to address some of those things. I think US

Soccer understands that, and I think there's a huge momentum
behind it. I just feel like we're basically half a
century behind.

So never winning a World Cup it feels like it.

But I do believe that that tide can and will
turn as the technical ability and the training at the
youth levels, as Parker said, that's where it starts as
that continues to grow.

get Anthony Davis over here. But that didn't really come
into fruition. So you know, now you're kind of circling
back and you're thinking, Okay, I was in Miami. They

just went out and got Giannis Ante to coompo. That's
really intriguing. Cleveland just signed Donovan Mitchell to a new
massive contract, so I would love to run alongside him. Oh,
here come the seventy six ers. They just went out
and got you know, Jalen Brown and they added some
other really good pieces alongside that.

If Joel Embiid is healthy, like, I think Philadelphia is
one of the best basketball situations for him as well.
And then here's Minnesota with Anthony Edwards and Lamello ball,
and I think he has a lot of respect for
Rigo Baert And what could happen to Rudy's career to
have a player like Lebron James be able to pass
him the ball. But to answer your question, Pa, I
think from a standpoint of where Lebron is in his

career right now, I think he's going to end up
in Miami. I said it earlier. I think seventy six
ers are close. I think they're right there. If I
was Lebron, I would be heavily considering Minnesota all right in.

Philadelphia, So you'd think Philly is pursuing Lebron for sure?

If we can keep Joel Embiid healthy, adding Lebron to
the four spot, there would be kind of a similar
situation as Minnesota would be with Aunt Rudy and and LaMelo.
So I think those are very similar situations. But then
Miami's also intriguing because Giannis is down there, You're familiar
with the Miami. You get the summer, you get the heat,
you get all that good stuff. So I think right
now for me, it goes Miami, Philly, Cleveland, Minnesota.

What do you think would be keeping him from absolutely
playing here?

I think the weather is obviously something, you know, being
in Minnesota, and also not being in like a major
market team in city Lebron obviously Cleveland was was one
of those, but he hasn't done that playing for the
Lakers and playing for the Heat. But besides that, I
don't really see anything glaringly obvious, like there's a there's
an empty spot at the four position. Lebron's transitioned to

more of a point guard now in his later career.
I know he played alongside Luka Doncic and he wasn't
the main ball handler, but like he's the guy that
sees the court so well, I don't know, PA. I
think it's a really basketball fit wise, and even Shams
has reported this basketball fit wise. If you're looking at
truly basketball fit, I think Minnesota is the best option for.

Lebron James, so you would go ball Edwards. McDaniels is
your three. Yeah, and he gets to guard all these
high end small forwards in the NBA. YEA Lebron as

very intrigued by Zakarski. Yes, I think they want to
see the motor get going. People don't understand Roko Zakarski.

mock drafts had him as a top ten to fifteen

idea of going and play college basketball. His NBL coach
didn't like that idea, so he sat and he didn't

a first round, top fifteen type of lottery pick.

of those things is Isaiah Evans, and we don't really
have a guy on this Timberls roster as it currently
sits that's really a threat to come off of pin

down screens, come off of off ball actions, and be
catch and shoot ready. Without Dante DiVincenzo, I would assume
it can do it. Terrence Shannon Junior can do it,
but there's not really a true three point shooting off
ball guard on this Timberwolves team. Anthony Edwards obviously, but
he's more isolation with the ball in his hands. So
I'm excited to see when this trade and when everything

becomes official Isaiah Evans playing for the Wolves in summer League,
especially with guys like Joann Baron Jay and Rakozakarski setting
pin down screens for a truly really elite three point
shooter in Isaiah Evans.

And in the current iteration of the Minnesota Timberwolves. If
you're Tarren Shannon Junior, yes, what are you working on
in the off season? I mean, and how hard are
you working on it? Because there's gold in them our
hills man.

Yeah, I think if you were to watch TSJ and
you watch what he became in the postseason with his
ability to get north and sUAS his athletic attributes at
the rim, everything is with his left hand, PA, So
I think for TSJ, it's it's being able to kind
of mix in that right hand. Right we see how
athletic he is in the air, kind of contorting his
body to different finishes, but he always goes back to

that left hand. So I think, for TSJ, can you
get more comfortable with that right hand going downhill?

And then that next step for him is I'm gonna go.

majority of the reason is defense or lack of recognition,
anticipatory stuff quick twitch over or under a screen, here

comes the pick. So the quick twitch recognition, how does
one improve on that, well.

I think there's a lot of things, and I think
you're right, Like there's a reason why the Timbers went
out and signed Jalen Clark to a three year deal
because of his defensive ability. Right, So, if you're Terrence
Shannon Junior, you have to find ways to put yourself
in the starting not the starting roster lineup, but off
the bench. Because there's Ioa Assuming, there's LaMelo Ball, there's
Anthony Edwards there we have really good guards on this team.
If you want to play, you have to bring something

to the court that's going to impact winning and I
think Chris Finch's has been clear about that since he's
been the head coach, like, if I'm going to put
you in the game, I have to trust that you're
gonna help us win basketball games. And for TSJ a
guy that's an off ball defender. With LaMelo who's not
the greatest defender in the world, you have to find
ways to compete on the defensive side.

I'm glad you mentioned that. In terms of getting minutes,
what can you offer this team? You have to be
productive in those opportunities because over the course of Finch's tenure,
you've heard it and we've disgusted nine to doones.

There's still people out there saying, man, Dillingham got screwed
over by Finch. There are still people I've seen it
out there come on so exactly.

it's Baron Jay, is there an element now with with
nas gone and with Julius Randall.

It still has to be opportunities and productive ones at that,
but there is this is this is a good chance
for some of the youngins to maybe get some minutes
that wouldn't have been available before.

Well, you're right, Nordo, And I think the other thing
is is like Chris Finch is in the gym with
these guys every day. You know, there's there's there's player
development guys with them every day, assistant coaches there every
single day, so you you know the insides and outs
of how these guys move, how they operate.

But no, no greater stage.

In the summer league, No greater stage than all these
summer workouts and practices for a guy like Joan barn
Jay or a guy like Isaiah Evans to show what
you have right, Like, the NBA is so different than
college basketball from just a playing standpoint, especially on the
offensive side of the ball.

You know, defense's defense.
Speaker 5 (05:54):
You gotta you gotta hustle, you gotta box out, you
gotta you know, get in passing lanes, all that kind
of stuff. But when you set up an NBA offense,
it's different and either you kind of either have it
or you don't. Like you can find it eventually, but
we're gonna find out if there's any guys on this
summer league team that know how to run, you know,
an NBA offense. And a guy that I want to
mention that we should definitely keep our eyes on is
Devin mcglockton. He's a guy who went to Boston College

originally that he transferred to Vanderbilt.

He's kind of nas redish.

He has the ability to stretch the floor at six seven,
about two hundred and thirty pounds. He's a guy that
I think could really crack this Timberwolves you know, lineup
and roster. I don't think he's going to be a
playing guy, but maybe get a two way, maybe be
an E ten guy.

He's a guy I'm really high on. So how does
Trey Kaufman Wren play.
Speaker 5 (06:39):
Yeah, great name to bring up guy that I played
multiple times in my career. Trey is a unique player
because he's about as strong of a guy as I've
ever had to guard. You know, when our coach was
describing describing Trey Kaufman Renny, he's as strong as an ox,
you know, just big quads, big calves. Strong, He's got
great footwork. But Trey Kaufman Renner is really a true five.

He can't really play the power forward position. So I
think if you're Trey Kauffman w Ren, you're looking at
this five spot and saying, Okay, Rudy's there, Rocco's there,
Yoan's there. I don't know how much time there is
for me, But if you're Trey Kaffin ren what an
opportunity in front of you right to back up guys
like Joan and Zakarski, guys that have been in an
NBA system for the past year and learn a thing

or two.

His footwork is really good.

So I think if you have a chance to play
guys like Joan and Roko every day in practice, you're
going to rise to that level of performance and hopefully
he's able to show some stuff in the Summer League.

First of all, there's too many Jalen Williams in this
league because we have what there's two on OKC, we
have one, I think on our summer league roster. Do
question for you? Maybe it's a dumb one. Summer league's fun, right,
Summer league is a blast. It's a chance to get
to know some of these names. And I'm not trying
to put you on the spot, but can you think
of of a material or measurable example of a player

that went from maybe some obscurity in the summer League
for our team to then finding reasonable minutes or opportunity
once the game start counting. Terrren Shannon Junior certainly kind
of pops up in my head immediately in terms of like, oh, okay,
well everyone's talking about how old he is, but I
get it like he's kind of MBA ready right. That's

kind of how we discussed Dillon Hamm and Arren Shannon
Junior when we got them. But is there an example
of of of an opportunity or a player that takes
advantage of what he does in the seven h two,
and and and kind of pushes his way into the conversation.

Well, nasrite Is is a great example of that, right,
an undrafted free agent You know, I'm not free agent,
undrafted rookie guy that came out of college, as you know,
a really good player. He was a high recruit, but
just like wasn't ready for the NBA game. He goes
to Iowa, he plays in the Summer League, and Tim
Kyley and his staff and whoever is you know at
the helm there, it decides like this guy's good enough,

let's give him a chance in the NBA and then
you make the most of it.

You mentioned Arren Shannon Junior, and I think that age
helps Nardo, Like you talk about being older seeing the game,
being able to experience that, like the college game is
such a step up from high school, but then the
NBA is just a whole another jump, right, so you
have to familiarize yourself with how the game works, how
people move. The NBA is so big about getting to spots.
You mentioned Jalen Williams. I think he's a guy that

you know is going to play for the summer League
team and he played at Auburn. He big, strong, guard
can shoot the ball from three. He's twenty five years
old as well, so he has experience. But we're gonna
see Roko Zakarski and Joan Barnjay this summer, and I
think it's going to be huge for them. Rocco is
probably going to play the five and start at the
Five's going to start at the four, which is going
to be new for Yoan, but I think they're going
(09:36):
to try it out, especially with this kind of who
knows what the power forward position is going to look
like for the Timberwolves. I think Yoon is a true five,
but we're going to see some mobility footwork from these
type of guys, and that's what I'm looking for the
most is how do these guys move out on the court,
especially when they're playing out of position. Are they comfortable
or does it just look really awkward and weird for
the big guys.

early in that game, and I think that was just
kind of an image of what the rest of the
game looked like. Right, this is a better Belgian soccer team.

We had to play a way higher level of soccer
and we weren't up for it in that day.

club teams, where here parents pay fifteen thousand dollars to
take part in said program. So what I mean, there's
something there and it's under it's more than Germany. So
what do you what do you guys make of all that?

Well, sus well, I think it's it is what it is, right, Like,
this is a world game. It's it's you know, played
at a higher level across the world, especially in Europe
and other countries. And our top athletes are are playing
other sports right They're playing basketball, they're playing American football.
Like I truly believe if if those of American football
and some of these other sports weren't as big, like

you would have probably better athletes playing those sports. And
that's that sport being soccer, and you would maybe have
more talent across the board. Now that isn't to say
that we don't have, you know, the level of talent
that we need to have to compete, Like I think
the USA has good enough players to go out there
and compete. Like they got out game planed, they got
out hustled, they got out worked in a in a
you know, sweet sixteen round of sixteen type of games.

So you're right away, you know, you're right there from
being a top ten quote unquote team in the world
if you put together a better performance. So yes, it
starts at the youth level though, pa like anything else does,
Like you have to have more kids playing the sport,
you know, to be able to succeed at it.

Yeah, the financial end of it, the infrastructure, think about it.
The infrastructure of clubs overseas has been something in the
making for decades upon decades upon decades. In the same
way that if Germany tomorrow decided, you know what we
want to we want to make a play for American
style football, we want to do that.

On the front end, how long it would take to
build a system of not just identifying talent, but coaching it,
training it, organizing it, and finding ways to create access
for all kids.

We are so far behind that Major League soccer clubs
themselves are just finally getting some traction in terms of
youth development, where the best kids, regardless of financial status,
have the accessibility to the elite training, so the pay
for play conversation comes up. I think that MLS is
trying to address some of those things. I think US

Soccer understands that, and I think there's a huge momentum
behind it. I just feel like we're basically half a
century behind.

But I do believe that that tide can and will
turn as the technical ability and the training at the
youth levels, as Parker said, that's where it starts as

really intriguing. Cleveland just signed Donovan Mitchell to a new
massive contract, so I would love to run alongside him. Oh,

him the ball. But to answer your question, Pa, I
think from a standpoint of where Lebron is in his

career right now, I think he's going to end up

ers are close. I think they're right there. If I
was Lebron, I would be heavily considering Minnesota all right in.

with the Miami. You get the summer, you get the heat,
you get all that good stuff. So I think right
now for me, it goes Miami, Philly, Cleveland, Minnesota.

What do you think would be keeping him from absolutely
playing here?

I think the weather is obviously something, you know, being
in Minnesota, and also not being in like a major
market team in city Lebron obviously Cleveland was was one
of those, but he hasn't done that playing for the
Lakers and playing for the Heat. But besides that, I
don't really see anything glaringly obvious, like there's a there's
an empty spot at the four position. Lebron's transitioned to

more of a point guard now in his later career.
I know he played alongside Luka Doncic and he wasn't
the main ball handler, but like he's the guy that
sees the court so well, I don't know, PA. I
think it's a really basketball fit wise, and even Shams
has reported this basketball fit wise. If you're looking at
truly basketball fit, I think Minnesota is the best option for.

Lebron James, so you would go ball Edwards. McDaniels is
your three. Yeah, and he gets to guard all these
high end small forwards in the NBA. YEA Lebron as
