Speaker 1 (00:11):
The fan.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Welcome some great shows to Grand Casino Arena next year.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Pentatonics will be there, yea, Pedatonics.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
These Pentatonics really going to be there? Who else?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Rascal Flats January twenty third, Eric Church February seventh. Tickets
on sale now you complete details on upcoming shows. KFE
dot com key were calendar.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
Awful big names. Speaking of big names, the legendary one
Mark Rosen joins us now here in studio here on
a It's kind of a murky Tuesday, and I think
we're is that? Did I see the forecast corrector we
expected to get significant amount of snow?

Speaker 5 (00:48):
I don't know about significant in the metro area. I
think we'll get some. I think it's all kind of
starts tonight tomorrow morning. I think the northern part of
the northern suburbs and reaching up towards Malaxic cetera expected
to get more with the warm the grounds so warm,
I'm not quite sure how much it's going to stay.
That's true too, you know, but it's so I mean,
I was sitting in the in the corner's office looking

(01:10):
out on Hire one hundred. Even this time of day,
it's already bumper a bumper, as they say, going uh
south on, which is not unusual.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
I think a winter is arriving because it just temperature wise,
where we've been, we've been very blessed.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
It's been in the fourth I played golf again today.

Speaker 6 (01:29):
I saw that. I saw that those days are gone
for a while now.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Yea, since we last talked, the Golphers weren't unable to
move the needle.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
They lost in Northwestern.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
The Vikings lose to Green Bay, and the the The
young uh QB's performance was as dreadful as ever, and
then he gets his bell wrong late in the game.
He feels like he's got concussion symptoms. He's in the protocol.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Doesn't look like you'll play uh so, Brosma will be
the guy.

Speaker 5 (01:58):
Your thoughts well, I mean, I I think it came.
Was a little surprised when Chaos announced it yesterday. I
remember watching that play when McCarthy broke the pocket, ran
about I don't know seven eight yards and got hit
and then got one of the packers on top of

(02:19):
me because he his head kind of bounced off the turf.
Hawkinson immediately grabbed him and pulled him up, and you know,
kind of got him back in the huddle. You know,
you think to yourself, you know, I don't. I don't
think it necessarily effect Well, we don't ever know JJ McCarthy,
but I don't think it effective in the rest of
the game. But apparently, as we all know by now,
he complained about some symptoms on the on the way
home and went in the protocol.

Speaker 6 (02:40):
And you know, we'll know a lot more tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (02:43):
But I think odds are that we're gonna see Brozemer
play for the first time this Sunday, and the kid obviously,
I mean, if he needs a mental break more than
the physical break. But something's got to change a little bit,
and maybe Max Brosman will get a chance to.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
You say, we're gonna see Brosman for the first time.
Do you think we've seen McCarthy for the last time?

Speaker 6 (03:04):
And I don't think so.

Speaker 5 (03:05):
No, I mean, unless it's a really serious concussion, I
think they.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
They never want to play him again.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
Oh no, no, no, they're gonna want to trot him
out there.

Speaker 6 (03:13):
I think I think they have to. I know, you don't.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
You can say they have to, they don't have to, Yeah,
they don't, But I don't know unless you know an
undrafted free agent decides to you know, kind of light
it up, and you know, obviously this would be a
baptism by fire. Playing in one of the toughest road
venues in the NFL against a really good football team
right now, and not just what he's not facing Sam Darnold.
He's facing that Seahawks defense, and he's gonna have his

(03:38):
hands full. But I think we'll see what Brozemer does
better right now is get the ball out of his hands.
And whether it's you know, seven yard completions or something,
I think it's just his timing. Will I think we'll
maybe hopefully notice an uptick because you know, we've all
watched it and I've seen this team play since forever.

(03:59):
I don't recall it a quarterback where you're just kind
of going, I don't know if he can complete a
ten yard out. I just he When he does, you
just kind of go, oh my god. They just did
that as far as you know, going down the field.
And we watch other NFL games and I guess you
can harken back to the Lions game and you look,
you know, the Vikings beat the Lions in Detroit. The
defense had a lot to do with it. But McCarthy

(04:21):
did all right. I mean it wasn't burn up the numbers,
but you know, you want to have that kind of
as a stepping point to moving on to the rest
of the season with the ups and downs of a
first year quarterback, and it's just gone backwards. We've seen
that in particular at home, so there's just nothing to
kind of rally around to say, you know, bo Nick's

(04:42):
had some ups and downs last year, and a lot
of the other first year quarterbacks did you know, and
but he hasn't had many ups and it's just there's
no there's no level of consistency right now. But I
think the Vikings have got to play it out for
their own good. I don't know what else you do
unless you say we're dumb with were not. They're not
done of them. They're gonna He's gonna have to play
and and you know they have some on paper, they

(05:05):
have some winnable games that the you know, the defense
can do its part and keep them in the game.
And we saw the koc was approaching last week's game
of a much more conservative approach with the running game,
which was working well early and you know they're keeping
him of the game, even at halftime. It was a
ten to six game at halftime. That's kind of what
you want to be and now you need to kind

(05:25):
of get a break. And then we saw, you know
what happened with the special teams, and then the game,
you know, soon as became a two score game, it
was over. I mean, that's a well you just have
to wait and see. But no, I don't think McCarthy's
done this year. I think unless there's something really really serious,
he's going to be back out there. And I think
they want to see him complete the season. What happens
after this year, you know, I mean the game plans,

(05:48):
you know.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
What if he starts in the next three starts, he
gets worse and worse, and where do they keep playing
until the end of the season.

Speaker 5 (05:55):
I don't know how to answer that common I mean,
I really don't at this point because that was about
his dreadful performance. I've seen, you know, a lack of confidence,
a lack of anything that from a quarterback, you know,
in a long time, and you can throw all the
quarterbacks in the hat and say yeah, and I'm going
we all understand that there's there's a growing period and

(06:18):
that we get it. But I talked about with you
last week, and so there's this something just not right
right now. I mean, his whether it's the mechanics, he's
thinking too much. I had talked to someone who just
said he's so cerebral. He's just he's thinking him way
out of out of you know, out of just reacting
as a quarterback. You know, like you can have a

(06:40):
thousand different film sessions and meetings and practices on the
on your own home turf at home at TCO. It's
not you can't simulate game situations. So I don't know
what to say unless the guy he's either going to
be a complete bust or he'll get better at some point.
But organization can't wait that long. And you've talked about

(07:04):
it many times. It's not fair to the you know,
the guys who are out there in their own contracts
and trying to win football games. This team won thirteen
games last year, and now you're looking at you know,
you're missing the playoffs, and you know, looking at I
don't know, seven maybe seven wins. You know, I don't
know who knows. It doesn't matter, but you want to
see some incremental improvement from this kid. And you know,

(07:26):
whether it's against the Giants, whether it's against Washington. But
you know we've seen the home games. I mean the
Bears game here. I mean, I was shocking that the
Vikings were able to score in the last minute take
the lead, and he threw a touchdown pass to Addison
and he goes, are the Vikings really going to win
this game? And then the special teams let him down.
But that still wasn't enough to kind of say, Okay,

(07:49):
he's figured it out. He hasn't figured anything out yet.
So I don't know if there's an answer to that
question other than the fact that, yes, I think they'll
play McCarthy when he's healthy.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
It seems to me, and I've said this on a
number of occasions now and I'll say it again, I
think they woefully misjudged how prepared McCarthy would be. And
I don't know if part of that is ego with
the quarterback whisperer. And I know he doesn't like to
be called that, but he takes pride in his ability
to coach up.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Quarterbacks.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
And remember they were coming off the thirteen and four seas.
They could have resigned sam Donold, who played extremely well
we know he had the bad game against Detroit, The
Rams game, I think had a lot more to do
with how bad the offensive line protected him. They decided
they didn't want to spend that kind of money on him.
They let Danny Dimes leave the building because he knew
they were going to go with McCarthy, and they rebuffed

(08:39):
any advances from Aaron Rodgers. And I think the coach thought,
I got this, I'll coach this kid up.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
I like what I see him.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
It hasn't worked to this point at all in any way,
shape or form. And you talk about you would hope
by the time you get to the NFL the mechanics
aren't the problem. It's just it's diving into the playbook
and learning the nuances of the NFL feil on the
speed of it, not like aligning your feet and your
eyes anymore.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
So, I don't know's.

Speaker 5 (09:06):
That's the point that it has been made over and
over again. It's you're like watching a fledgling freshman in
college trying to figure things out right now, and it
just doesn't pass the eye test at all as an
NFL quarterback. And that's the thing that hopefully Macarthy he
has to figure it out. The coaching staff has to
figure it out otherwise it's going to set this franchise

(09:26):
back and they're going to be starting over again by
signing another veteran next year, going after someone else. I
don't know how you make that decision and when. I
don't think it's going to happen after this year. But
they're playing with fire right now.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Oh well, we'll talk more Vikings and other topics as well,
including the wolves, the wild, and the golfers and so
much more here on the Common Man Program with common
Man Blake Moore and Mark ros and here on the Fan.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
He's a nice challenge ess or just made learning fun. Well,
now's your chance to say thank you in a big way.
Thyheart Radio is to thank a teacher. It's powered by donors.
Choose okay, hey, nominated outstanding Bove School Teacher. It's got
above and beyond for their students to win five thousand
dollars in doctor classroom with whatever they need. Let's say
thank you to the educators shaping our future. Nominate your

(10:11):
favorite teacher now, I heart ready dot COM's last teachers. Okay,
our computer just doesn't want to play this, Yeah it does,
all right, We.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Don't need it. It's it's the least of our worries
right now.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
I just got a text from Sauce as you're not
listening to Rosen Well, No, I wasn't well.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
I was kind of listening with half of you.

Speaker 6 (10:35):
I saw Sauce with Louis.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
I was sort of listening. I asked dark Shar would say,
I really wasn't listening. I was sporting for my turn
to talk.

Speaker 6 (10:44):
We all do that.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
I always love that one.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
I'm interested to see how Brosemore plays. It'll be you
know again, it is a very difficult situation. You're playing
a very good Seattle team with a very good defense.
Sam Darnold, let's face it, I think there'll be a
chip on his shoulder a little bit.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
I don't know this.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
I've not heard him say it, but my guess he
would have was more than willing.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
To resign here, and the Vikings didn't want him.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
And so he's he probably thought, oh, not good enough
for you, huh. So I'm sure he'll have some extra
added incentive. Sada's in the playoff mix. I don't know
if Darrisol plays or not. Was was he the ankle
or was that Jonah Jackstony each I think he had
an ankle injury in Jackson did as well.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Both of them left the game.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
They might not have the left side of the of
their of their offensive line, and they'll have a rookie,
undrafted free agent quarterback making his professional debut as a starter.

Speaker 5 (11:32):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
Again on the road against a really good team with
a good defense and a quarterback that's probably got a
little chip on his shoulder.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
It's gonna be uh, it's gonna be a difficult situation.
What's that?

Speaker 5 (11:43):
They just heard the chip on the shoulder thing? He's
pros pro understands that. I think Donald fully understood. No, no,
But I'm just saying he understood. Yeah, Well, listen, we're
gonna go with the rookie.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (11:55):
I don't want to compete. I don't want to be
a backup. I don't want to be a backup here
Danny Jones's situation. Obviously, that's why I went to the Colts,
I think.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
But there's a professional pride, no, of course, but they
Sam Darnold put up numbers that were brilliant.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
He took the team to the playoffs, and and.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
All of a sudden, they say they basically said that's
not good enough. We're not giving you one hundred million dollars.
You can go elsewhere, so you probably want Oh, I
know that's how I oh, I'm not good enough for you. Huh. Okay, Well,
I think there's a chip on the shoulder. Sure he
understands its business. I guarantee he wants to take.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
It to the vikingside.

Speaker 6 (12:33):
I'm sure he does. That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (12:34):
Yeah, I'm just saying that I think there's an added
incentive for him.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
I believe. Oh, I don't think there's any doubt. I
don't know that. Maybe not, but I would.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
Think I'm just trying to put all the different things
that are working against brosemerg on on on.

Speaker 5 (12:48):
He's going to have his hands full at that and
then that's you know, again, it's not one hundred percent
because he we have McCarthy hasn't officially been diagnosed with
the concussion, but all signs point towards if he's not
even close to one hundred percent, And you know, people
talk about a soft benching and everything. I think he
legitimately got got dinged and got hurt, and if he's
not feeling well, well, then you know, I think the

(13:11):
smart thing might be, you know, look here, we're gonna throw.

Speaker 6 (13:13):
Him to the Wolves again out in Seattle.

Speaker 5 (13:15):
If you think what was happened in Green Bay was bad,
at least the first half was competitive. Man, don't I
don't see that even being the same in Seattle against
that team, that offense and the way that they're rolling
right now. The Vikings defense has got enough to worry
about forgetting about who the quarterback is. For the Vikings
to try to contain Donald and that offense that's very explosive.

(13:39):
And that NFC West, I mean, with the Rams looking
like super Bowl super Bowl team, the leading super Bowl
team right now, you know, the forty nine ers have
managed to kind of cobble things together. They're getting little healthier,
They're always going to be a threat, and Seattle's right
there with them. That that's that's a really really good division.
We talk about how competitive the nf North is exception

(14:01):
of the Vikings right now, but the NFC West.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
Is I'm about to say something controversial, Okay, that's interesting.
I think we're I think I think the Viking is
going to be very competitive this week. I'm not predicting
the victory, but I don't. I think they are going
to be because the reason they've struggled so bad is
been by absolutely horrific quarterback. Brosemur can't be that bad.

(14:29):
There's no chance he can. Matter of fact, I think
brose Mur from what you hear about. I'm not and
I'm not saying he's gonna be the NFC Offensive Player
of the Week or anything like that. But I just
don't think he's gonna melt under the pressure. I think
he'll do fine. If he gets time to throw, he'll
be okay.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Again.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
I I I'm not predicting the Vikings twin, but I
think the Vikings will put up a much better performance this.

Speaker 6 (14:53):
We hope you're right.

Speaker 5 (14:54):
I mean, I think they'll I guarantee you they'll have
you know, I think I'm guarante they want to extend
the plays. But you know, I think Brosberg can get
the ball out quicker and he can make quicker decisions.

Speaker 6 (15:05):
He's he's older. I mean, he's been around.

Speaker 5 (15:08):
Uh yeah, this will be his first start, but I
don't think the I hope the stage won't be too
bright for him. But you know, the Fightings will want
to run the ball again. You know, they were doing
it effectively against the Packers, and then.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
Will Or they just tell Broseman to go out there
and just let her, let her rip. Buddy, well ahead,
you got nothing, you got nothing to lose.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
Kaos, he goes.

Speaker 4 (15:29):
I can go back and play my offense now that
I want to play. We got a new kid in
there that knows it. He was really good in the preseason.
He was he was winging it all over the field.
The rest of the team is probably going now we
got We've got that burden of the kid, and I'm
not trying.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
This is not There are people that I'm I know,
bad for McCarthy.

Speaker 6 (15:51):
That's all you can do.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
I feel bad for the kid.

Speaker 4 (15:54):
I mean, your dream is to play in the NFL,
and he just has looked so completely overwhelmed.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Where was the stant that he would have had a
better quarterback.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
Rating had he had he spiked the ball twenty times?

Speaker 6 (16:06):
Did you see that stat I did? I did.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
So my point so, listening to JaMarcus Russell in the
same breath as his statistics, that's not good.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
I believe it's human nature that, for instance, when the
listeners realize I'm leaving the airon Borero's coming on.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
There's a little spring in there. Stuff.

Speaker 4 (16:25):
Hey Barrero, finally a polished, poison professional talk show host,
not a lazy, uninformed, unprepared bozo like me. So I
think that I think there may be guys. I gotta
think Justin Jefferson, Well, I think Justin Jefferson might be going.

(16:48):
I love McCarthy, and I hope he comes back and
plays well, but hey, maybe I'll get maybe I'll get
more opportunities with a different.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Kid in there.

Speaker 5 (16:55):
Yeah, the fan base will be very anxious to see
how this all plays out as well. And in otherwise,
if McCarthy had started or does start this week, which
again it's highly unlikely, I think it would be another
kind of gloom and doom kind of you know, approaching kickoff, going,
what could possibly go go worse for them today than
it did against Green Bay.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
I don't think you can get that low.

Speaker 6 (17:17):
And yet.

Speaker 5 (17:19):
I'm thinking to myself at halftime, they gotta, they gotta,
they gotta shot at this.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Thing until the ball bounced off Price's leg. Well, yeah,
that they first day.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
I think green Bay took the second half kickoff. I
think they picked up one first down, but then they
have to put. But yeah, and Price, he had the
right intentions. He was trying to throw a block so
that the ball would go to the m zone so
they could get it back out of the twenty or
twenty five whatever ball ends up taking that wacky bouncing
the exactly and next thing.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
You know, it's it's two plays in Green Bay squats.

Speaker 6 (17:52):
And then that's it.

Speaker 5 (17:53):
Yeah, that that's game, set and match when you're playing
a quarterback under those circumstances. Again, we're not watching Brett
Fire trying to come back with the Vikings in two
thousand and nine, it was it's not going to happen
with this team.

Speaker 6 (18:04):
As we saw the statistics.

Speaker 5 (18:06):
The tail of the tape, as we like to call it,
tell the story for what the Vikings are even capable
of at that point. Seventeen to six may as well
be seventy seven to six.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
I tend to agree, let's take a break, come back,
we'll talk about a couple of others. Well, we'll discuss
some other topics other side of the break. It's the
common man with Brett Blakemore and Mark Rosen here on
the Fantom Couple thirteen fourteen pass last segment of the

(18:40):
grum today. I'm common He's tend to be the legendary
Mark Roseen is here as well.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
Golphers.

Speaker 4 (18:46):
They lose in a shootout thirty eight to thirty five
in Northwestern.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
They had a double digit lead, I believe in the.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
Second half they let that get away and then they
lose on a field go they had a chance to
force overtime forty yard at the buzz there. Northwestern just
another five hundred clubs, sort of like the Gophers, sort
of like a yeah, and they might be a game
or two over five hundred the Golphers. But you know
what I'm saying, just that team that's you're gonna probably
win some, lose some. You're gonna win to the you're

(19:14):
gonna lose to the really good teams, and you'll beat
some of the media.

Speaker 5 (19:18):
I was I was driving around excuse me earlier in
that game listening to UH on this very airwaves here
Mike Grim and Darryl Thompson is always and Northwestern went
right down the field against the Golphers, and it was
interesting hearing Grim and There'll both talk about the fact
that what poor angles the Golphers, And I'm not watching it,
they're describing it to me, the poor angles the defense

(19:41):
took on all these runs at Northwestern was executing against
the Golphers, and it was just it was like, oh
my god, what are they doing? They they do they
go to tackling school? Do they learn the fundamentals? And
I basically continue the whole the whole game. And it's
kind of been a symptomatic problem. And I know they
had some new guys. They always there's always new guy
in there, et cetera, et cetera. But you know, whatever

(20:02):
nil money the Golphers have left, they've better invest in
defense and maybe a new kicker that they brought in
because from the portal, he's he can't kick past forty
yards on a field goal. Uh So it's you know,
it's discouraging that way because you think that at this point.
We talked about it last week, these are the games
you just have to find a way to win. I mean,

(20:23):
you just you just do if you want to in
the year whatever it is, seven eight, Uh that you
got you got to you got You're great, you.

Speaker 6 (20:29):
Qualified for another Bowl game.

Speaker 5 (20:30):
It's just a hollow kind of feeling that their defense
is just so bad and you know, quarterback for the
Golphers looks like he's got a lot of promise. They
you know one, I think the wide receiver they had.
You know, I think they got to improve in that area.
But you got Wisconsin here this week, and Wisconsin's not
going to a bowl game, but this is their bowl game.
We know how the old cliche about this is the

(20:52):
one that they get up for. They've been playing better football,
so you know, people are going to go out there
on Saturday and with the weather being what it is,
et cetera, et cetera. I know it's a rivalry game,
playing for the acts, et cetera, but it's not a
It's just not the kind of feeling I thought Gophers
would have this time of year.

Speaker 6 (21:10):
You know, we've been there, done that.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
It's two mediocre at Wisconsin's actually probably worse than media.

Speaker 6 (21:15):
Oh they'd gotten better.

Speaker 5 (21:16):
They've gotten a little bit better of late, but still
you're right, they've had a terrible season. I think people
are surprised their head coach got re up for next year.
So yeah, it's just discouraging because a man, it's just a.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
Randy Johnson rights Gopher football.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
He's the beat writer for the Fisher out Factory of
West Here's what he wrote.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
The Gophers defense.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
A week after giving up five hundred and ten yards
in a loss at playoff contending Oregon, right surrendered five
hundred and twenty five at Northwestern, a team that entered
the game ranked one hundred and six nationally in total offense,
one hundred and tenth in scoring offense in one hundred
and sixteenth and passing offense. Their quarterback was twenty five

(21:59):
to thirty for three h five and two tudies. Griffin
Wilde had eleven catches for one hundred and eleven yards
in a Tudy. Hayden Elegon the second had seven catches
for one hundred and twenty seven yards. The Gophers coughed
up a twenty eight thirteen third quarter lead and allow
the Wildcats to score twenty two consecutive points and twenty five.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
Overall in the second half.

Speaker 6 (22:21):
That was hard to watch.

Speaker 4 (22:22):
And that's north They gave up more yards to Northwestern
then Oregon.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
You saw those those those numbers where.

Speaker 4 (22:30):
They were ranked nationally. To me, I look is Northwestern
knocking the ball out.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
Of the park with Neil money. I don't think so
are they. I think that. I think most kids go
there academics.

Speaker 4 (22:45):
It's academics and then oh, I'll play some football as well.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
To me, that's.

Speaker 6 (22:50):
That's embarrassing.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
It really is. And and here's what's what annoys me more.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
From his piece that says, over the path three games,
the Golphers have given up fifteen hundred and two yards
to Northwestern Oregon and Michigan State. Michigan State, that's averaging
five hundred yards a game. Here's what flex said. I
don't look at this third at the third straight game.

(23:17):
This was a one game championships. I'm so tired of
this one game championship season.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Is no, it's it's a tran PJ.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
That's three games in a row where your defense was bludgeoned.

Speaker 1 (23:31):
It is you take each game individually.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
I get that as far as the stands go, this
doesn't count as three losses though it probably should. But
this championship season gibberish and all that. I think by
this time, at nine years, I think people are getting
a little impatient with that. I'm not expecting him to
win the Natty. I'm not asking him to win the Natty.
But don't get embarrassed by Iowa, Ohio.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
State and Oregon as badly as you did.

Speaker 4 (23:56):
And then and then Northwestern, I know it went down
to the wire, give up over five hundred yards.

Speaker 5 (24:01):
Well, especially when you're tout early in the week again
about you know, we got to get off to a
good start. You know, we were emphasizing getting off to
a good start both on offensive defense. And Northwestern takes
the ball and goes right down the field. And that's
like I said, I was listening on the radio, and
those guys are both going I think they're pretty fair.
I mean, obviously they're they're they're gonna have a little
golfer homerism to them. But man, they didn't pull any punches.
They just said, I don't know what what the defense

(24:23):
is doing out there, and in terms of the angles
of their trying to tackle the guys. Not that that
Northwestern was was that great offensively, but the golfers were
just so out of position defensively that you kind of go, what,
what are what do they do all week and preparing
for this opponent and why are they getting thrashed like
this against the wildcasts? And you know, I ended up

(24:43):
being in you know, entertaining game only in score alone,
because the Golphers were able to, as you just mentioned,
common they goalvers were able to build a twenty eight
to thirteen lead, and they gave and they coughed that up.
So I don't know, I long resigned self to the
fact that this one it's just not this is don't
you get And you know, I'm not going to get
wrapped up in and why they're not getting better right now?

(25:06):
I I you know, I just you know, you see
signing days coming up, and you see on social media
the gofer is getting these commitments from such and such
a player and so and so, and they're you know,
outstate guys. Well okay, well we'll see how it works.
I mean, I I don't know, you know, I think
Koy Parrish is probably making as far as nil money goes,

(25:26):
more than anyone else on that team right now. The
quarterback Drink probably be in a position too, maybe as
his as his career goes on. But you know, they're
not they're not competing at the level financially, certainly with
a lot of other teams that you just brought up
A good point in Northwestern I can't imagine is pouring.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
You know, I don't think maybe.

Speaker 6 (25:47):
Thousands of dollars every into players that you know.

Speaker 1 (25:51):
They very well could be, but I just don't think that.
I don't know, no would like I say.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
I think academics is the number one reason you go
to Northwestern and then if you're a good football player.

Speaker 5 (25:59):
You know, bonus time, Yeah, bonus coach was emotional after
go think. I think they're qualified for a bowl game.
That's a big deal to them. It is a big
deal to them, and he is a right to feel
a little more emotional because they weren't expected to the Gophers. Yeah,
they go to some bowl game in Detroit somewhere.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
How about the Your wild club is big of disappointment
to start the season, as we've.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
Seen in quite some time.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
Yeah, they are now the best record in the league
in the month of November, nine to one and one.
The wall in Saint Paul Walsted, Walsteed, whatever you want
to call him, He had a thirty two save shutout
against the Jets in their last game. It was his
third in his last four starts, making him the league
leader in shutouts and the youngest Wild goalie to achieve

(26:49):
the felt How about.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
That it goes to show you, we know, quarterbacks.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
The most important position in all of sports, but I
think goaltenders a close second.

Speaker 5 (26:57):
Well, he's been such a pleasant surprise because he was
had a pointing year, but back and forth with the
Wild and now he's kind of figuring it out and
it's a nice problem they have. I've heard John Hines
on with PA late this morning, and I think the
question was, how do you decide which goalie is going
to go? Especially when they're both hot? He goes, we basically,
you know, alternate at this point because they're pushing each other,

(27:18):
you know they are, and you can tell the competition
within that room. Friendly competition is real, and the youngsters
are figuring it out. And you got Caprice Soft and
BOLDI playing at a really high level and it's a
lot of fun. Now they play your guy, Connor, but
Connor Badard in the Chicago Blackhawks tomorrow night in Chicago.

(27:38):
They're they're an improved team, but you know, and then
the big one is Friday afternoon, you know, day after Thanksgiving.
The Colorado Avalanche. I think they've lost still one game
or something. This look up the good Yeah, they're you know,
Colorado Denver's having a banner season in their winter sports. Obviously,
the Broncos are having a great year.

Speaker 6 (28:00):
I don't think.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
Let me ask you a question I got. I was
fill in the blank. Has the Lande faced the wall
from Saint Paul?

Speaker 6 (28:06):
I don't think so. Okay, I don't think they will see.

Speaker 4 (28:09):
How they play when maybe you have the answer the
question you followed the little better.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
I have the Lange played the wall in Saint Paul yet?

Speaker 3 (28:15):
I don't think they have their sixteen one in five?

Speaker 6 (28:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (28:19):
Have they played the wall in Saint Paul?

Speaker 5 (28:21):
I don't think so. All right, that's all I think.
I chance stat last week that between the Nuggets, the
Lanch and the Broncos, they hadn't lost a home game
this year, the three major sports teams. And that's a
great sports town. That's all about. It's all about much
the way it is with the Vikings here. It's much
everything's about, you know, the Broncos in Denver, but they

(28:44):
got to be pumped up. But they love their hockey
team and obviously the basketball team. I don't think they've
lost a home Let me.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
Ask a question.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
Isn't any city a great sports town when all three
of your teams are nothing but winning.

Speaker 5 (28:53):
Yeah, but I'm just talking about like the year round
attention that they get through the media, et cetera. Of course,
but there's nothing football is run like it is. Here
is King of the Hill in in Denver with the
sports shows that they have there, and I been out
there enough to you consume it all.

Speaker 6 (29:11):
But yeah, I mean it's so.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
What you're saying is it's very similar to the Twin Cities,
where three of the four Big four teams are worth
talking about.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
In the baseball teams and afterthought, correct.

Speaker 5 (29:22):
Oa, oh I didn't mention the Rockies did not, but
they still draw, you know, they draw like thirty thousand
people a game, and then they're awful. Their management doesn't
care much like the Twins, and they don't put any
money in there in their team.

Speaker 6 (29:35):
I see your guy.

Speaker 5 (29:35):
Sonny Gray was traded back to BA traded back to
the American League to the Boston Red Sox.

Speaker 6 (29:40):
So yeah, should still be with us.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
Yeah, that's a whole nother story, but he's not.

Speaker 6 (29:49):
I was, so I should have stayed up and watching.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
Two games in a row and the loss to Phoenix.

Speaker 4 (29:56):
I read that the Phoenix player said that they were
getting taunted by the Wolves there at the end of
the game.

Speaker 5 (30:03):
They've been trash talking a little bit. Yeah, well this
is not right now. This is not a professional outfit.

Speaker 6 (30:11):
They're not.

Speaker 5 (30:11):
They're playing with zero poise down the stretch. They blew
an eight point lead, as you mentioned in Phoenix, with
less than a minute to go in that game on
Friday night last night against an under man Kings team.
They were up by ten with three minutes to go
against the bonuses out And I'm watching this game thinking
the Wolves are gonna you know, ebb and flow of
the game. They're up by nine, they're up by eleven,

(30:31):
they're up by seven, they're just gonna put it away
with three throws and you know, Ant's putting up forty
plus and he had forty three and then they just
managed to give it away and you just go and overtime. No,
tomorrow night there will be double digit underdogs where playing
the machine that is the OKAC Thunder on the road.

(30:52):
Probably they'll they'll probably go there and win tomorrow night.
But they have yet to be the winning team, a
team of the winning record this year, and something you.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
Say anything, the Wolves are going to go there and win.

Speaker 5 (31:02):
I mean, that's the kind of conventional wisdom you think about.
I mean, I don't know, I really don't, but that's
nothing would surprise me. Will get up for that game.
Something's got to be done. I know they miss naw
n Cal Alexander Walker a lot. They don't have that
that grit coming off the bench. They need a point guards,
miss Kareem Abdul Jabbar. I know that, and that's that's

(31:26):
why they can't keep everybody. And Arren Shannon's going back
from an injury. Dillingham can move the ball around a
little bit, but he can't shoot with a lick. I
just can't see Tim Connolly standing pat. And you've got
a team that has gone to the Western Conference Finals
two years in a row. They're gonna have to make
a move of some sort. I'm not saying sooner than later,

(31:46):
but at some point, because this is not sustainable. The
lack of poise that this team is demonstrated against winning
teams in particular. But last night was not a winning
team is a arming, is all I will say. And
Randall did not have a great game less and he's
played really well this year.

Speaker 4 (32:04):
But is that Dame Att okay See, it is they
The Wolves have zero change.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
Zero.

Speaker 5 (32:11):
They they've beaten there a year ago. I think the
way that Okay, the way that okay Se is going.
The one game they lost this year, they had a
twenty some point lead, I think, and they and they
lost the game somehow. Yeah, they learned their lesson. Now
they're just crushing people. They're winning.

Speaker 7 (32:27):
I think the average collis professional. They play with a purpose.
Well they are, that's what. No, I'm serious, that's so,
that's what it has to be. Well laughing at me,
it's not meant to be funny. No, that's they are funny,
mister Blake Wore.

Speaker 4 (32:40):
You're laughing and smiling to get your back at it again.

Speaker 6 (32:44):
They are.

Speaker 5 (32:45):
They are men among boys in the NBA right now.
As far as a team that, I mean, we thought
they won the championship, they're even better right now. And
there are many teams that you can say that. You know,
the West is really good, obviously, Denver's great, Lakers make
some noise, Phoenix is good, Houston's very good. The Wolves
can be really good. But okay See is on a

(33:06):
whole another level right now. And that's to their credit.
They're they're hungry. They want to win another ship this year.
That's for damn sure.

Speaker 4 (33:16):
So that's must be nice to have a team in
town that you live in, like Okay, See your team
is well, he's polish professional play with the purpose.

Speaker 6 (33:24):
That's the four piece.

Speaker 1 (33:26):
That's the only Polish professional with the purpose. That's what
they do.

Speaker 5 (33:30):
Well, that's the only show in town. And they got
a good have they got a hell of a show
in Okay. See right now watching that team this s
g A and our guy chet home Grewns having at
even a better year right now and a deep, deep
bench and and you know the rest of the story.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
Why does some teams have that ability to be poised,
polished professional play with the purpose?

Speaker 5 (33:49):
And then you have your Minnesota timber one. Well, there's
a lot of teams you can say that about.

Speaker 4 (33:52):
But a lot of those teams you say it about
are also teams that are one and twelve. And I'm
talking about teams that are I don't know, back to
back Western Conference, wasn't.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
There isn't there a hunger there and it desire and
maybe there is. They're just not as good as we
think they aim.

Speaker 6 (34:07):
Well, that's that's the problem. That.

Speaker 5 (34:08):
I mean, people are there, What's what could Chris Finch
do differently with his rotation? And and you know, Sacramento
was out of timeouts last night with like eight minutes
to go. I mean, everything was in Minnesota's favor and
they just, yeah, lack of poise. I don't know how
else to explain it. I mean Aunt did everything he could.
I mean, he may have made a mistake or two

(34:30):
at the end, but he put in forty three. Uh
and Randall was taking some you know, some off balance,
not good great shots and they just got sloppy. And
I don't know. So the Wolves are ten and seven,
and you know, I.

Speaker 4 (34:44):
Think it was the night before the loss to Venix Phoenix,
didn't I think Ant missed a couple of free throws.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
Did I'm not cloud to play a loss on him.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
But no, I know, you know, he's he's he goes
for forty but then when he when he came to that,
those miss free throws.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
The game huge.

Speaker 6 (35:01):
Yeah, that would have clinch the game. But so there
you go.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
What are your plans for the holidays, Well, we are
in town, out of town.

Speaker 6 (35:11):
Town for Thanksgiving.

Speaker 5 (35:13):
Car and I are going off for dinner at a
restaurant and then we're going down to Westbrook, driving down,
you know, three hours plus.

Speaker 6 (35:21):
We're celebrating.

Speaker 5 (35:22):
Her dad's birthday is actually a month from now, but
we're celebrating now because you're thinking the weather might be
a little bit better.

Speaker 6 (35:27):
Rehope.

Speaker 5 (35:28):
He's turning ninety, So we're having ninety BFW and Westbrook
stand by the party time.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
That'll be the first family get together you've been to
where you're not the oldest guy.

Speaker 5 (35:39):
In Yeah, not even close. I might be one of
the youngest ones. And then yeah, that would be fun.
So we're excited about that. And then so like, yeah,
the whole family is going to be around and rightfully
so on it.

Speaker 6 (35:54):
So are you way back back in town?

Speaker 1 (35:56):
Traditional turkey dressing, you know, taters and gravy. We're going
to a.

Speaker 5 (36:02):
Restaurant that's got options of the regular menu or the
Thanksgiving menu, and I'm going to definitely go to Thanksgiving.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
Yeah, I want to.

Speaker 4 (36:10):
It's thankful because you only generally do the Thanksgiving menu
on Thanksgiving?

Speaker 6 (36:15):
Correct, what are you doing?

Speaker 1 (36:18):
My brother? Oh, my brother and his wife were post
and then he'll have his three sons over. Our family
will be there. My sister and her husband and daughter
nice and yeah, it would be a good time. So
we'll watch a little bit.

Speaker 5 (36:28):
I'm definitely gonna watch the game. I am going to
see obviously the kiddies remember when the Detroit was you
know that is I'm telling you something you don't know.
My god, Detroit's on thanks We have to watch the
Lions again on Thanksgiving. This is depressing how bad they
were for decade after decade. Now they get this great
game against Brett's team.

Speaker 4 (36:46):
And well, and there were those and I actually understand
the the almost banger by the average fan that says,
why does Detroit just because of this tradition? Why did
they get a game every every year, single year? But
it first started in Detroit for whatever reason, So they've

(37:06):
always gotten the home game on Thanksgiving. And then Dallas
is in the same I don't know how long it's been.
How many years in a row? Is Dallas had a
long time? And it used to be just the two games.
It would be Detroit at home followed by Dallas at them.
Now they've added a third game, so there are three
games that one rotates.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
I think I don't think it does.

Speaker 5 (37:23):
Yeah, now they got a Friday afternoon game Black Friday.
So the Bears are playing the Eagles on Friday afternoon
if you knew that or not? Yeah, so they're playing
on Uh? Is that the one on Prime?

Speaker 6 (37:34):
I think?

Speaker 5 (37:35):
So while you're out chopping around, is that a day
or is it anything? An afternoon game? I think it's
a two o'clock game. That's not And that's kind of
a marquee game right now with the Eagles coming off
that blown lead against Dallas and the Bears. You know,
how long can the Bears hang on in the NFC North?
But yeah, I think the Packer that'll be fair. That'll
be a fun game to watch the Packers and the
Lions programming note.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
I think this is the first time ever that I
can recall that the Lions Thanksgiving Day game won't start
at eleven thirty.

Speaker 1 (38:05):
It's a noon start.

Speaker 6 (38:06):
Oh is that right?

Speaker 1 (38:07):
That's why Deuce pointed it out to me and I
and it says, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (38:10):
Instead of eleven thirty, they've decided used to always be
an eleven thirty start.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
Now it's a twelve noon start.

Speaker 4 (38:15):
It's a twelve noon and then the game two? Who
does Dallas play?

Speaker 1 (38:19):
I don't even know.

Speaker 6 (38:21):
Uh, looking up, who does Dallas play this week?

Speaker 3 (38:25):
They play? I will tell you they play the Chiefs
at home.

Speaker 6 (38:29):
Oh my, that's attractive.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
And then what's the third? Again, I'm lays and focus.

Speaker 6 (38:34):
On the I don't blame games.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
Yeah, the third is Bengals Ravens.

Speaker 6 (38:40):
And Joe Burrow's coming back.

Speaker 3 (38:42):
I think, why, by the way, what, there's no need
to play him? Why they're three and eight?

Speaker 6 (38:46):
Who cares what? He gets paid millions and millions.

Speaker 3 (38:49):
Of dollars to play a draft pick.

Speaker 5 (38:51):
No, man, no, no, no, no, no, no. He wants
you gotta play. He wants to ruin the Ravens season
if you can. But those are actually really good.

Speaker 3 (39:04):
Three three and eight.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
Yeah, NFL analytics less than one percent chance to make
the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (39:10):
Yeah, he said that that that big game against the
Bangles there and they turned that. They've got like three
interceptions and Isaiah Robins.

Speaker 1 (39:18):
That was our high water mark.

Speaker 6 (39:19):
I would say like, oh, this is gonna be a
fun season.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
Oh man, it's all going our way back then, wasn't it.

Speaker 4 (39:25):
They got one more day tomorrow, Yeah, you'll be in.
I will, we'll make our official prediction. But I'm just
telling you this, I think Brozmer is.

Speaker 1 (39:31):
Going to have a really good game.

Speaker 6 (39:33):
I'm marking that down.

Speaker 4 (39:34):
I'm not saying thirty for thirty five and four oh
five and three tuddies.

Speaker 1 (39:38):
But I think I don't think he's going to melt
under the pressure. I really don't. He'll probably have his mistakes,
but I think he'll make some place.

Speaker 6 (39:44):
Everyone in the state will be rooting for it.

Speaker 1 (39:46):
It should be fun.

Speaker 4 (39:47):
We will see you then tomorrow two o'clock. Yes, Sir
Brian Oak will be in as well for some rock talk.
Blake Moore, you're safe, travels. You're going back to for
a Thanksgiving.

Speaker 6 (39:56):
Good for you.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
I think Devin will be sitting in that chair for
ten and me tomorrow. We enjoyed our is it with you?
We'll talk to him Row twelve noon, stick around, big
ticket and brought lagmore our next heir on the family.

Speaker 1 (40:05):
Good night, God all right, I got good night folks,
and good night missus Calabash.

Speaker 6 (40:16):
We're having I'm a fraud. Yes. Listen back to any
