Speaker 1 (00:00):
Undefeated. Yeah, undefeated.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Yeah, we're undefeated, Tennabe. We are five and well done.
I don't know if I can continue with the show
though I'm woozy. I've tried to run through a wall there,
and I think I got to go into concussion protocol.
I smashed my head right the wall behind me because
you had me running through a wall. Undefeated, undefeated, Yeah,

(00:26):
welcome back to the spotlight, young man. Nice job, Tennabee.
A lot of a lot of accolades is always been
showered down upon you for the montage today, they're coming
fast and furious, including this one that says, let's get
it pumped up.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Around here, JJ Jones, B Flow.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
I think he meant to say be flow, but let's go,
and then this one says could tend to be be
the most important member of the Vikings team. I'm calling
for Tennabee to be the new official Vikings motivation and
encouragement coach, and.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
Then he ends it with love love whah fly.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
An to be You about done yourself, young man. I
was pulled over and when the officer heard the montage,
we both stopped to listen, and he let me off
with a warning because of your Montage School. We are undefeated.
Jordan from Waconia. Uh ay, comment, is this what it
felt like in ninety eight we were undefeated?

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Less?

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Lets go, well, let's not talk about ninety eight and
let's not talk about our rookie kicker making every kicking similarities.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Let's not talk about that either. Let's just not I
don't think we want to talk journeyman quarterback leading the way.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
I don't think we want to talk about that. I
don't think we want to talk about that either. Because
they're a defense, there are some there are some eerie
similarities that could lead you to to well.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
As a matter of fact, you know you sent me
the tweet. I think Severn had it.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
What was the note that teams that started five and zero?
There was some there was there was some disc at
led maybe you could find I mean, I could look
it up and I'm I'm move to you.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Right now.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
I'm seeing stars because I slammed my head into the
wall trying to run through it.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
The Vikings have trailed for three minutes and twenty six
seconds this season, perty ESPN research that puts them in
the highest of company only four teams since the nineteen
seventy merger.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Oh I got to click on the tweet. Yeah, I
get it.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Have trailed for less time in games one through five
all went to the Super Bowl, as did the team
with the next best mark. So through five games it's
the nineteen seventy Merger least amount of time trailing. I
don't want to mention this though. Two thousand and nine
Saints never trailed.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
In a game. Their first five games go ahead, they
won the Big Game. UH. Nineteen eighty four Dolphins trailed
for a minute and seven they lost in the Big Game.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
UH twenty twenty three forty nine Ers last season, they
trailed for a minute and forty five in their first
five games. Lost the Big Game, but they were there.
Nineteen ninety nine Rams Kurt Warner trailed for two thirty
they won the Big Game. Vikings are fifth on that
list at three twenty six. The sixth team is the
nineteen ninety at Broncos. They won the Big Game four

(03:19):
minutes and twenty four seconds.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
No, that should have been our team there, but it
should happen. It would have lost us. If we would have,
they would have let me ask you this question.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Yeah, I bet for you because you brought this up.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
On a number of occasions we've been talking.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
We've been together for seventeen years, and I don't know
why Channel four doesn't do a special honest more than
seventeen but yeah, this has been more in seventeen though
hungry were at nineteen nineteen years and I don't know
why Channel four doesn't do a special on you and
I all the things we've watched. We've watched the Pat
McAfee show together for how many?

Speaker 1 (03:47):
For how many years? That's only been on for like
a year?

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Okay, but it still the year do we've been you know?
And so I guess if we're headed to the big game,
we just are. So have you ever heard of shipsticks
tend tobe?

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Do you know what ships? I've used it before? Yes?

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Do you recommend that for our trip to because I've
got eight tea times locked in?

Speaker 1 (04:11):
If you remember? Would you reckon? Because I don't want to.
I don't want to, you.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Know, be dragging it behind me at the airport and
throwing it up and having you know, sky cab have
you know putting in It's just it's a lot of work.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
I've used ship six three four times and it's worked
perfectly every time.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Do they go?

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Do you send them right to the golf course? Then
so they're right there on the cart where okay, and
they're right there in the cart.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Where do you get there?

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Not in the car, but yeah, there's an area they
keep them.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Well, you just put them on the cart, you go.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
I will say, though, like I've been to Bannon a
couple of times and the clubs are all just sitting
there and like someone can steal.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Well, yeah, yeah they wanted to.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
But well there was a time back in the Twin
Cities where there would be at some courses there would
be signs I would say, don't leave your club's unattended. Well,
if you know, if you have a bag of clubs
of you know, I mean, like anything, a full bag
of high end golf club is gonna be about three
rand just is I mean driver, Fairway Woods, Hybrids?

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Well they maybe even more. It's a lot of loot.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
So yeah, and then you know, you know when the
guy brings them into the uh, I just don't know
how if you bring a set of golf clubs into
second swing, that's one thing. But if you bring him
into like a pawn shop, isn't the guy behind it
nobody brings.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Golf clubs to pawn shops. I don't think. Maybe they
do so, but we won't have to worry about that.
Ten of me. We're gonna be We're gonna be playing
on I.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Might need to get a hold of ping guy bet
because I'm interested in hitting my driver longer and.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Would you like to get hit Are you comfortable? I'd
be comfortable with that, hitting.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
The ball longer and straight. We're all off to do that.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
You know, as long as we're looking at you know,
all teams that have led for those you know, short
amount of time, what was it within they led for everything,
but like at.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
Least amount of time they've trailed in a first five
weeks in five and oh.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Start, I'll give you this one. This was actually supposed
to be for a wet blanket Wednesday, but I'll throw
it at you now because it's Wednesday summer. In the world,
teams that win their first five games of the regular
season usually make the playoffs, but twice, dating back to
two thousand and three, the Purple had blown a strong start.

(06:08):
Vikings went five and oh to start the twenty sixteen
season and six and o to start the two thousand
and three season, and both instances failed to even claim
a wild card. Remember, and I don't remember those seasons.
I mean I remember him specifically. I do remember getting
off to fast starts tortoise and hair like right where
we just jump out of the gate, sort of like

(06:29):
the guy that's never run. Like I think I've recanted
this tale myself, my lovely wife Potato, and baby brother
Peter for the Brother Hope Lung Foundation.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
You know, a five k fun run. Pete had never
run one before.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
He's like eight or nine years old, so he decided, well,
I can just run full speed the entire time and
I'll win by a landslide. It worked for out the
first mile. Yeah, young kids, strong legs, clear lungs, and
by the time he got to the second mile, people
were passing him up at breakneck speed. So he learned
in a hurry. So sometimes that quick start can be
But I'd rather be five and zero than own five.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Trust me.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
There's plenty to get to on And I have a
little different spin on exactly.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Why the Vikings ended up being victorious.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
There were a number of reasons, but I think the
number one reason was I'll hint it, I'll give you
a hint this way, Tim, here's my tease. Paul Charchion
was right ten years ago. It was just wrong team,
wrong quarterback. I'll explain on the side of the Ray
Common Man Program on the fan, Hey, the.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Fan and two men in a truck, want to give
your shot to put a grand in your hand with
our national cash contest just to enter the keyword win
at kapn dot com.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Now for your shot at winning.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
The keyword is win entered now at kafan dot com.
There ready to laugh the night away when comedian Russell
Peters heads the Treasure Island. Oh still missus hilarious and
unapologetic comic when he takes the stage in the Island

(07:58):
of Men Center on November twenty ninth, tickets around sale.
Now you need yours at t I Casino dot com.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
He won't apologize, and nor will I for being unprepared, uninformed.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
That's what we do here on the Common Man Program.
A couple thirteen fourteen.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Passed there, Well, well, I heard the Golpher promo that'll
be playing UCLA next week at the Rose Bowl. The
Golpher game was I actually was listening to Grimmer, Jim
g and Darryl Thoms Daryl Thompson with the call. On
the way back from Brainerd, I left right after I

(08:35):
introduced a Mason Dixon line as the tailgate party entertainment.
I stayed for a couple of tunes and then I
jumped in the car and came home. And it was
a thrilling finish to the game. And you know what
I'll say to Tennaby, I am. I wasn't against them

(08:59):
going forward on fourth and one from you know, the
six inch line or whatever. But I'm not making this up.
I said, it will be so goal for like, we
won't make it. We're not going to get the first down,
and then we're gonna lose an Otah And.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
At first was they didn't get in and I said,
I knew it. I just knew it.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
And I wasn't gonna rip the coach because I you
know where the team is or you know, they were
the best two and three team in the country, just
asking going into that game. And I think I'm beginning
to think USC might have been a bit overrated.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Not to take any away from the Gopers. I'm not
saying it wasn't a.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Good win, but I if that's the eleventh best team
in the country. Of course, there have been all all
sorts of teams have been getting upset. Alabama they jumped
to number one. They got to be by Vandy, of
all people. So there were upsets up and down, up
and down the board in college football. So it's I
don't know if it's just that season, it's just a
weird season, or maybe we're getting some more parody in

(09:57):
the league because of NIL and the transfer portal. Some
of the teams that maybe were never very good, And
I don't know, I'm just throwing this out there. Maybe
some of these teams are getting better because now that
they can attract players. Maybe not that you know, the
NIL the NIL guys that are the very best are
probably going to the very best programs of most money.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
But maybe other guys got do now you know, they're
willing to do it.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
But anyway, it was and then when they when they went,
I was actually happy for him, I really was, because
it was like, you're going for him now and you
already had like two other tries and couldn't get it in,
and you're thinking, and I really thought that was a that.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Is a tough decision. It is because you could.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Kick the the figgie and you're up, and then you
just have to rely on your defense.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
And you know the way U c l A USC
moved the ball, This is what I rex.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
I didn't hear the whole game, but reading in the
account in the fish raft Factory, it was either the
east or the west or maybe both that you know,
USC was moving the ball pretty well, but you know
that I don't think they moved it that well in
the fourth quarter, so the excuse, but still, you know,
you're right. It's a tough decision. The field goal is
a gimme, you know, I guess it's college. But yeah,

(11:07):
it could get blocked or anything could happen, but you
figure you got it. Then you kick off and you
have to hold him. But it would be so goper
like that, you know. They they yeah, they well they
kicked the field goal and they got the lead. And
then USC has got enough time and they make a
couple of quick passes and all of a sudden, somebody
gets somebody gets behind the secondary.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
He gets loose, he's loose, and it's over. So nice.
Win Fleck was gritting an ear to ear.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Deuce must have been watching he sent while I was
while I was driving home. He sent me the on
field interview, not with JG, but I think I must
have been with whoever you know from the Big ten network.
I think it's where the game was was on BTN.
He was asking a bunch of questions and all of
a sudden, he goes roll.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
The boat sky you up bed. He kind of just
he did it.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
He almost did a uh, who is the guy that
we do the old we're going to go to the
White House.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
His name is Dean Howard. Dean Howard. He did like
a Howard.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Dean kind of a thing where he just kind of
screamed in and turned around. And obviously it's a it's
a big win. It's probably a bigger win for for
for for PJ than it is actually the teams. That
makes sense because they're just you know, where he's been,
where he's going, where he's at.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
The the the the the.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
The contract extensions he's received. Coming on the heels of
a game in which it looked like they had number
they had a chance to beat number eleven Michigan's. They
played a great second half and they had a great
first half against Iowa. So they they've in bits and
pieces have played well, but they really haven't put together
a complete game. I guess yesterday Saturday must have been
closer to a complete game. As far as do we

(12:41):
call it storming the field? What's the friends that can
ever think of it? I there are there are always
people that will make fun of teams that storm the
field or you know, fans that storm the field, you know, like,
you know, win a real big game and get back
because sometimes sometimes like a team that's not that hasn't
had a lot of success, they'll be like the twenty
twenty fifth ranked team in the nation and suddenly they're

(13:03):
storming the field, which you can.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
Kind of roll your eyes, shrug your shoulders and shake
your head.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
But what I think, what a lot of people that
criticize that fail to realize these are just college kids
that are doing it just for the fun. They probably
don't even know what team they beat. They're just their
student body enjoying that four years of their life where
they're just having fun.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
During their four years. That's probably going to be the
biggest signature.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
And so they like doing it.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
So I don't you know, it's it's most of those things.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
It's a little weird to me.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
That's a little weird because you know, for the most part,
the kids really don't care if that's the only win
of the year, or they go thirteen or no in
the year, or who they play that they they're just
there for the fun. It's like people that go to
twins games, you know, the the that that that sit
in the you know, those stand in those little areas
where they have the where you can get your your

(13:52):
craft beers and you can get you you can get
your your your overpriced food, and you're not even watching
the game. You're just kind of sitting there in the
concourse area and when you hear you're just there to
be somewhere. And I think that's what happens with the kids.
So storm in the field is always fun. And it
was the eleventh ranked team, and you know, the Grimmer's
a helmet school.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
It's a helmet school.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Well, the other thing they were doing, they were talking about,
you know, the first time they've beat him since nineteen
fifty four something. I said, Well, they haven't played him
since nineteen fifty four either. It's like, yeah, it's think
they don't play usc. They will now now that they're
Big ten. Probably every other year but they but they didn't.
But that's a nice w for the club and.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Justin guard. I'm curious to see what he'll have to say.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
He's compromised, as you know, but he'll he'll obviously be
He's probably pretty excited.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
So that's that's a good win the PJ Flex Show.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
He'll be chomping at the bit to do it, because
I have to admit, when when like when they got
beat by Iowa, I don't know. I gotta think PJ
is comfortable enough with who he's been where he's going.
He doesn't he doesn't mind face in the media. It
doesn't bother him at all. But still it's it. How
much more fun is it to go to the Tipsy

(15:06):
Steer tomorrow that it was after the Iowa gate. Yes,
you go to the Tipsy Steer and got to ask it, well,
what happened? Well, we got our butts.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Handed to us in the second half. We were awful.
My fault. He always takes a pint.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
But now you go to the Tipsy steer, you you
beat you.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
You scored fourteen point? Was it fourteen in the fourth quarter?
I think so. I think it was.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Fourteen in the fourth quarter. They were down seventeen ten,
whatever was seventeen ten. They come back and they win
the ballgame, begainst usc That's pretty exciting stuff.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
If I'm a listener, I'm definitely tuning into the show
at the Tipsy Steer tomorrow. Yeah, that's must listen, Razo.
I would set an alarm right now because to make
sure it sets off right before nooon.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
Here's a text comment. How about bitter on Twitter and
wet blanket Nordo complaining about the field rushed and or
don't really complain about that. See, that's the wrong approach,
I think. If it's a progue, well they don't do
it in programs. These are kids, they're eighteen, nineteen, twenty

(16:12):
years old.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
They're having fun. They think they they go to games.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
And they paint, you know, gophers across their chest.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
One guy's got a g the others got to know.
The other's got a pee. They wear no shirts or
they wear those goofy over do you call them overalls
or cover alls.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
I'm an overalls guy. I'm a coveralls guy. That sounds
like a bingo game. It does a cover alls bingo
and they wear them, you know with the stripe sell
just let them have their fun.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
It's I love what I didn't that side of it.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
But I also would say it also shows like an
overall picture of where we are is a program. Now
we started the field beating a number eleven team at home.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
Well it does.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
Yeah, we're so desperate for us, right, but those kids have.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
Never experienced this, So that's all cool. That's that's all good.
That's golden for me, golden gopher, you know, reduced.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
Remember they were going to storm in the field at
every eat Colorado, but then the security is trying to
just letting a few out at a time. And then
Deuce finally said, well, it's only Colorado.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
So he just said let's be home. Because they went
back to the dorm.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
We'll take a break, we'll come out, we'll do a
little of just ad let we'll get back into Viking football.
I think I tease why the main reason why the
Bikings lost. I hope other people agree. I will talk
about it lost, why they know why they won the
other side of the break, will well, we'll talk about.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
It on the common Man program on the fan. Will yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
Heat over to our contest page an interper your chance
to win tickets to see the Vikings take on the
Lions on October twenty. Thanks to custom One Exteriors, the
official home partner in the Minnesota Vikings, that's KFN dot
Com can contest enter.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
I've been hardcore.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
Viking fans who live in fear would rather see the
Lions lose to Dallas this upcoming Sunday at the Corral.
I'm not saying this because I am. I got the
best of both worlds. Two sundays from I have the
best of three or four. Deuce will be there.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
I think Abbott might be able to Finaga. No, he won't.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
I'm going to be able. I'm going to be at
the game with Deuce. I like the kiddies and the
and the Purple. Either way, what whoever wins, I'm all
good with. So that being said, I'd much rather five
and oh against four and one than five and oh
against three and two.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
And I know if you're a hardcore for like you, No, no, no,
we want to lose much as kinna win the division.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
I just think so much more is at stake that
that game would They don't flex them this early in
the year, Do that that'll be now no matter what?
Or can they flex that early, but they go, well,
let's make it the late afternoon game.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
Do they do that? Do know?

Speaker 2 (18:41):
There's it way too indication because I'm wondering if it's
five and oh four and one, that will be the
marquee game of the week.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
I don't think there's any question about that.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Last seasons, well one of the participants failed participant, but
participant in the in the.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
NFL champions were twelve through seventeen as well, flexing.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
So that'll be a start. Covers and begin at at
ten o'clock. A couple of people are are, but one's
almost better. One says coveralls and overalls are actually different things,
just saying keep up the great, keep the.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
What is it they wear bib overalls not coveralls? Do
words have no meaning to you? Oh? That's right, no
high school education.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
And I did respond to that one by saying, now, commons,
lack of education hasn't.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Hurt him none. Trust me, I'm doing just mine.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
I wanted you to come back from break with the
Paul Charchi in the the the Preposteros Satanmury said, Brady's done.

Speaker 1 (19:35):
You said, it's no longer in the system.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Nor is Gorg's hundreds how do we lose those somebody
you said you dated them.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
I dated them for the end day was never going
to expire while I was here, and so I don't
know they're no longer here.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Do you think what happened to though? Do you think
goreg got.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
So tired of it he like paid somebody here, like
he told, he told, like Brett Blakemore said, Look, if you'll,
if you'll eliminate that, if you'll elite that SoundBite, I'm
tired of it.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
I'll give you a couple thirteen fourteen bucks or maybe.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
You know a dozen titleist pro v ones that he
found on the free table.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
Right, I am looking through my folder that I had
on my computer, and I do have the Gorgon one.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
I cannot find the charge one. The reason I want
to do the try if you remember charging it.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
You know this was ten years ago, twelve years ago
where he said Brady's done. He's not not only is
he not the best quarterback in the league, he's not
even the best quarterback on his team. That is your guy,
whoever it was, Jimmy.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Garoppolo and Aaron Rodgers has done.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
And I've tried to suggest that to people for a
couple of years and no one wanted to.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
And I get it.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
I mean during the regular seas, he's one of those
regular season wonder kids. He's won not one, not two,
not three, but four MVP awards. He has to be
who's won the most. You would think Brady's won more
than that, right, I don't know who is the winningest
MVP of the National Footballing history.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
Assume it was Brady. I gotta think he's won it.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
I don't know if he's won it every year they
won the Big Game, but that you could make that argument,
that'd be seven of them. I would think maybe, maybe
maybe Rogers is has the most MVP awards ever for
an individual in the in the National Football League. Peyton
Manning won five. Peyton Manny won five, and that might
be that's the record. Okay, Rogers at four. Brady and
Farv and Jim Brown and Johnny Nita said three. Okay,

(21:28):
I don't think Rogers will tie the mark.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
He he was.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
I mean, he had his moments yesterday. He made some
nice throws. I mean that first that first touchdown.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
Throw was nice.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
He made some other throws that you know, they you know,
I think that the Jets. I think in both games
it's great to be five and zero, and I think
the Vikings are, if not the best team in pro football,
certainly one of the one or two at least.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
At this point.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
But I do think they were kind of I don't
know is that Do do you feel like they were,
you know, outplayed in the second half against Green Bay
and the second half yesterday and or do you think
there's just the way football goes. Do you think maybe
they were out coached to did did Lafleur a week ago?

Speaker 1 (22:07):
And then.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
I can't remember who we just beat the Jets, Jets,
Sala did did? Did? Those coaching staffs maybe out you
know that, you know you're apparently at halftime you're supposed
to make adjustments because there was a tail of two
halves in both games, Vikings dominated.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
You have the staff the beginning of the game.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
They haven't trailed for more than like, what is it
one or two minutes the entire season one eight or something.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
They just they've never trailed.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
So they get off to very quick starts, jump out
to early leads, look dominant. And in the last two
weeks it's been shaky, but they've won. And that that's
that's all. Good good teams do find ways to win.
But Rogers was simply brutal yesterday. He is solely responsible
for that Jets loss. As far as I'm concerned, That
Jets defense played very good and kept the Jets in

(22:54):
the ballgame, much like the Vikings defense when the Vikings
were sputtering against a good Jets defense. Our defense kept
him in the ballgame. But for let's take a look
at the first interception, the sixty three yard tuddy returned
by Van g I tweeted this, didn't Rogers see that
on film?

Speaker 1 (23:11):
I think Van Ginkel does.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
That almost every almost every passing play, or he goes
to the line, he's very good at it. Then he
just slyly drifts back and he's there, and he's writ
in that spot. That Apparently the qbaa expecting him to
be there, you know, because a lot of that's anticipation.
They look, they see that, you know, the quarterback comes
to the line and a guy like Rogers has seen
at all in twenty plus years, he goes up there

(23:32):
and he goes, Okay, that guy's there.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
He's there. They're showing this now, remember b flow.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Apparently his craft He's got what did pretty called a
crazy scheme. He's got a crazy scheme going on here,
but you got to realize that not every guy's coming.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
And he just flipped it right to Ginky.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Ginky made a nice play, though I'm not saying that
he didn't make a nice catch up. Yeah, and then
he rumbled in and he gets a tuddy. The second interception,
was that mattellas or buying.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
Him, that's buying them. He just and Rogers sail. Well,
he just threw it.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
It was like a fly ball to center field, like
a pop up to center field, like a can of corn.
And then the last one was a terrible throw. That's
just an awful I don't know how he throws it
like that. I think he might have been under some pressure,
but he threw it short inside.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
And he didn't that was an off it was.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
And again I'm not taking anything away from Gilmore because
it was a great interception. He was in the right
place at the right time. That's an awful throw. And
then even worse, even more egregious. Was it a player
or two before that? I don't know who the wide
receiver was for the Jets. He's going down the right
it looks like he's trying to do a button hook.
I don't know if he was doing a stutter step
to get the defensive back to freeze, but he did,

(24:44):
and then he broke down the sideline. He's wide open
by five steps. Not only does Rogers not give him
a chance to catch it, he throws it out of bounds.
And you saw how how bitter Rogers was with himself
because that if they complete, Yeah, I'm much an easy
pitching catch too. In the games, Green bays ahead. And

(25:04):
you know that's not to say that you know by
Jets are ahead and that the Vikings couldn't have driven
down the field. Again, I'm not suggesting they couldn't have,
but that would have the Vikings would then have trailed
and they would have had their backs against the wall
with not much time left. I don't know what their
timeout situation was, but without the running back and yeah,
so rogersicker, though, we would have our stud kicker. And so, oh,

(25:29):
by the way, do you remember the oh wait, I
don't want to wet blanket it. Last time we had
a stud kicker never missed a field goal or an
extra point until the NFC. Chah, you know what, ain't
gonna happen again. Lightning can never strike twice in.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
The same place.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
Do you know that topic is going to be brought up.
Let's say he's still has never missed a kick. If
we're like week ten or week eleven, the question be
do we want him to miss a kicker or not?

Speaker 1 (25:51):
Do we want him.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
To miss a kicker? That what people will say, Well,
a lever was nominated for PST. You got it, didn't
you you check your email yet because you were you
were c seed on it.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
Liber apparently was on with Big Ticket and said he
really doesn't want to be like undefeated ten and oh
because it would be a distraction to the team.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
Huh.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Liber overthinks things. Or maybe he's maybe players really do
maybe because he played the game at a higher level
than I did, not much. You know, I played Kunabas
Athletic Association four fifth and sixth grade. Both sides of
the ball, fierce pass rushing, rocket your belta run stopping,
defensive alignment, precise route running. Sure had a pass catching
tight end. But if I'm ten or oh, I'm not

(26:37):
distracted by that. I mean, are you really going to be?
Because you know the media is going to ask.

Speaker 1 (26:41):
You about it, just like you're at the media thing
and they go, it's ten, and oh, do you think
you can keep it up?

Speaker 2 (26:45):
Those those those uh, those you know, those seventy two dolphins.
Then you go, don't bring it up. It's distracting me
from my game prep. You would be embracing if we want, yeah,
this is great, we're ten or O. Your mama can't
stop us, your daddy can't stop us, the police can't
stop us. Roger Goodell can't stop us, Pete Roselle can't
stop us.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
Nobody can stop us.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
I just watch and frankly, if you don't have like
the mental resolve to be able to handle that quote
unquote distraction, then you're not capable of winning the big
game anyway. That's That's what I'd explain why some of
the team has been played on didn't get there.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
Maybe that's it.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
Yeah, Oh that's aggressive to me, But I like that.
That's very aggressive.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
Maybe it Ben would have had that mentality when he played,
we would have a big game champion.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
Maybe that would be it.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Because I don't I that that wouldn't distract me at all.
I'd be puffing up my chest with pride and going,
let's keep that up.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Let's let's win another one.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
It's like when the Kiddies and the Browns WOU sixteen,
let's lose another one. They say, we can't watch us.
So yeah, you know again, you know I said last
week I opened the show with you know that that
game raised a lot of questions, maybe more questions and
answers the way Green Bay came back. And if you remember,
I what one of the Viking players even said, we're

(27:58):
treating them. It might have been Ginkel know who's the other,
It might have been Grenard. One of the two basically said,
we're treating this like a loss. We did not play
well in the second half. We allowed that team to
you're up twenty eight to seven. I know there's people
that would suggest, oh, they were coach team. They were
going into a prevent No one's going into a prevent
defense to start the second half. You're trying to put
the hammer down on them, and the other team made adjustments,

(28:20):
and you.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
Know it happens. Look at look at yesterday. How many
one score games were there.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
We're seven out of the ten games one score game
Crazy Day yesterday, And how many of them came down
to I think three of them came down to a
winning kick at the buzzer.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
So there is parody. The league loves it. I love it.
You love it.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
Even a team that doesn't win a lot of games,
like the Bengals are one in four, yet they're in
every game.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
It seems like maybe they got blown.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
I'm not paying attention closely to every single I'm not
paying as close an engine to Cincinnati Bengal football as
I once did. But these games are always close, and
like the Cincinnati game in Raven's game was it went
right down.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
To the wire. Used to Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
Yeah, little too much scoring for me, but that's okay. So, yeah,
things will happen, but I you know, I do. It's
you just wonder if eventually, and it probably will. I
don't think we will go on to me, we could
go undefeated. I suppose it's possible, but we'll probably lose
somewhere along the line. But so, there were certainly some

(29:18):
issues yesterday the other Beast offensively, and I think a
lot a large part of that had to do and
I I tried to raise the signal flare and I
don't think this was because of overuse but I was
worried about Aaron Jones were using him so much while
they grind him into sawdust by week thirteen, fourteen fifteen,
sixteen seventeen. That wasn't overworked. I was just now he was.

(29:40):
I think they kept him out strictly for precautionary If
this was to get into the playoffs, I think he
goes back in.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
He was on the sideline, still in uniform. Was he was.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
He was pulling a Doug grow, he was laughing, he
was smiling. He was back at it again. So I'm
assuming that the bye we comes at a perfect spot
for him, but it does remind you one or two
injuries away from being boom think could be.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
I mean it was a difference maker on that off
difference maker. You saw what they were yesterday.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
Without him, they can't move the wall on the ground,
They just can't. He's he's he's very spry. He for
his age, he's very good. And you know there was
the Darnald scare when he went down. I thought he
had a busted rib was Do you think he just
got the wind knocked out of him? Yeah, I think
that's what it's because he was down, honest on a
stomach and he was writhing in pain. I thought he
has a busted rib. He's out for a game or two.

(30:26):
You have to wear flack jack at the rest of
the year. And you know Nick Mallins is capable. We've
seen Nick Mallins throw for four hundred yards. The only
problem is he throws for four interceptions the same time
he's throwing for four hundred yards.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
That's the problem.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
But big pass on third down by him, big pass,
big pass on third down.

Speaker 3 (30:40):
Yeah, I think he got the wind knocked out of him.
I think that's what it was, PA, because I hear
the I always hear the call, like a good fifty
seconds before I seen it on television. And Pa, he
just starts doing the old because he got hurt. When
what what game you get hurt? Previously?

Speaker 1 (30:54):
Was that might have even been last week? There was one, ye,
another one he got shook up real bad.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
Yeah, and he went he was out of play, And
PA really goes, this one's much worse than it was
last time. And look like he said he's back out
of play. Later and I think he got the one
knocked out, probably struggled to breathe for thirty seconds.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
Absolutely would have had to have been, because the way
he was right it looked like it was just ride
that I thought I was busted ribs.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
But he came back. He's fine.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
Knowing the vikings though, they'll probably get an X ray
on him today and there'll be news leaking out.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
Yeah, well that could be now.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Sauce Gardner one of the best defensive backs in pro football.
He left the game, and I think that was actually
good news for the Jets. I mean, this guy couldn't
keep his hands off any wide receivers covering. How many
times did he get flagged? I mean JJ drew how
many passing interference costs?

Speaker 1 (31:37):
Four? It was four or five? I know in penalties
A gained like fifty four yards penalties. Yeah, so I
think he was.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
I think four or five different times they were flagged
for their illegal use of hands or for pass interference
and PI sometimes, I do think I think one of
those was a little even. I think with him it
was sketchy, but you get the benefit of the doubt
and sometimes you got.

Speaker 1 (31:59):
A bad angle.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
Well like for instance, the roughing the kicker call was
I'm not being a homer.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
That was not roughing the kicker. That was one of those.
Didn't you think that was more like running into the kicker?
I thought I.

Speaker 3 (32:08):
Would say running into and running is only contact was
just on the way down.

Speaker 2 (32:13):
And running into the kicker is five yards and New
York would have had to punt again. They got the
ball back and it was that drive they scored, did
they not?

Speaker 1 (32:23):
I think they did. I think they scored a tuddy
on that drive.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
So that was a that was a huge penalty was
it was a botch penalty call.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
But and we were in control of the game.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
We were in control of the game, so uh we
got to Rogers. We but again, I you know, it's
a little disconcerting last week and this week the way
the team played.

Speaker 1 (32:45):
Hopefully that's not something that.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
Continues because eventually you're going to run into somebody. I
think that's going to take advantage. That could end up
being in two weeks from now when they play the
Motor City Kiddies. With with with with the Kiddies game
tend to be. I I've watched enough of the lines now.
Their defense really isn't any better than it was last year.
At least at this point. That could change. They made
some changes. They got the terry and Arnold, the guy
they drafted a eighteen. This guy you think sauce Garter

(33:11):
uses a hands I'd like to see these two guys
trying to cover each other. Sauce And because Arnold is
always being called he gets very handsy. The announcers bringing
up all the time. I think in college he's very
hands He likes to tickle people's sides.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
He seems one of the announcers were one of the game.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
Whether he's accurate or not, I don't know, because I'm
not paying his close attention to college football I once did.
He says, in college football, you can get away with
using your hands a little bit more than he can.
In the pros he gets called a lot. They lost Davenport,
who was making you know, we know he doesn't play.
I mean, hell, we had him for four games. I
think he was really good, and then he was gone

(33:49):
for the rest.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
Of the season. Said. Detroit's defense isn't very good.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
So if the Vikings are looking to keep the offense,
get the offense back on track for a full game
rather than just a half, I think this could be.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
The elix or.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
However, the Lions offense is it's good Tennaby I mean,
if they provide, it's going to be interesting to see
because golf is like a lot of guys. If he's
given time, he can be like Kirk Cousins and throw
for five hundred and nine yards and four tuddies.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
He can do it. He can do it.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
He's got that skills. But you put any kind of
pressure on him, he's like a lot of guys. He's
he gets half the feet and he's in. He struggles
a little bit back there. But the Lion's got a
lot of weapons. They got they got Laporta, They've got
the two running backs, Monty and and Gibbs and and
Amon Ross Saint Brown's great. The Jamison, he's starting to

(34:36):
really do the things they were hoping he would do
when they drafted him.

Speaker 1 (34:40):
He was drafted, wasn't he like twelfth overall? Tenth?

Speaker 3 (34:43):
It was a vikings peck. He was a Viking biking,
the one they traded back to get lewis n right.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
And and this kid.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
He's now starting, he's got that game breaking speed. He's
sort of like, are what do we call our guy?

Speaker 1 (34:55):
Speedy?

Speaker 2 (34:58):
So the Lions in their their line good, So this
could be it'll be a fun football game, and the
Vikings can sit back now and they'll leave their have
a two game leader, one game lead going into it two.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
Yeah, when they could end up with a two game
lead over Detroit if they win two game leadover and
Packers with the tiebreaker on both exactly. And then you
look at the rest of the NFC other than Detroit,
there's only one other team that has one loss. So like,
the Vikings are two games ahead of everyone except for
worshing game.

Speaker 1 (35:22):
Yeah. Absolutely, well, and that's another thing I want to
get into. We'll do we want to get into that question. Good,
we can do that as well.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
So now what's interesting is it goes to show you
you know, the Texans were highly regarded coming into the season,
right and we just we destroyed them and we just
didn't we win thirty four to seven?

Speaker 1 (35:41):
Is that the final score?

Speaker 2 (35:42):
Yeah, we were out of them and they're four and once.
That means their only loss we dominstate. That means it wasn't.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
Like they're now one in four. It's like, well, they
were overrated.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Like San Francisco right and three right now. Yeah, the
forty nine ers may have been of it. I just
think they missed McCaffrey a lot, or.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
Is that a bunch of injuries that's not just him,
but they miss him incredibly, right that ye Deebo Samuelson
beat up. So they've.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
So yeah, So the teams they've been beating. We know
that the Texans are really good. You know. The Giants
are a little bit better. I think maybe if you
at least they were yesterday. So they want to Seattle
and so the beating quality clubs. The thing is is
got green Bay again. In Green Bay, I think they're
for real, I really do. They were very good again yesterday. Uh,

(36:38):
they've got Detroit twice season closer at Litterbox that who knows?

Speaker 1 (36:42):
That could be for the whole ball of wax. Who knows.
And the Bears.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
I tried to tell people that Caleb Williams everybody all
they were ripping them. Oh, look at he's he's lost
out there. He shouldn't be playing. Kid's going to be
a superstar man. And he's got the Bears at three
and two. The Bears haven't been three and two. I
think they said since like twenty sixteen, if one and
if they won, No, not three in a row, yeah, no,
two of their last three anyway, he's good.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
And then the kid for Washington.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
Remember they said, oh, you can't start rookie quarterbacks, say
you don't do that in this league. It's it's too
hard for these kids to figure it out. What are
the commanders right now? Four and one? You watch the
highlights of that kid yesterday? Was it Jade and Daniels? Daniel?

Speaker 1 (37:22):
Is that the kid? Yeah? Think he ain't any good?
Bo Nix look pretty good too. You're getting, oh, sorry,
we can bring it back.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
Up because it's it's it's certainly worth worth talking about.
Let's let's take a break and come back. You want
to tease that or something else or no, tease

Speaker 3 (37:41):
That it's time to bring back contender or pretender
