Hey, welcome back page Morning show here. We are eight
to one. If you're listening live, it's whatever time it
is whenever you're listening. We're super excited though, because it's
been a very busy impact show on the.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Friday after Friday morning here on the poutrip.

Speaker 5 (00:45):
And it continues.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
It continues.

Speaker 6 (00:49):
With Andrew Depaula of the Minnesota Vikings. Hi, Andrew, Hey, guys,
what's up?

Speaker 4 (00:53):
Man?

Speaker 5 (00:53):
Hey guys all pro thanks for coming on, man, thanks
for having me against man. Congrats on the thing. That's
got to be super cool. Yeah it is.

Speaker 7 (01:02):
It is pretty cool, just to get that recognition is
really awesome. Yeah, special teams a plus this year. Right,
Will Rekerd is an absolute machine. He's I can't say
enough good things about him. Just a good feeling knowing
that once you get to like the forty forty five
yard lines, pretty much got three points locked in.

Speaker 6 (01:19):
So that's goodle What percentage of your snaps on field
goals and extra points specifically were you super happy with
this year?

Speaker 5 (01:27):
How many?

Speaker 6 (01:28):
What percentage do you think you nailed? Top of your head,
that's a great question.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
Thanks.

Speaker 7 (01:32):
I don't know if I've ever gotten asked that before.
Ninety ninety is ninety two percent?

Speaker 6 (01:40):
Because I can flip it. This is a little bit
like when offensive linemen don't get mentioned. That almost always
means they're doing their job right. They're not getting beat,
they're not getting penalties. I can't, off the top of
my head think of one bad snap all year.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
Right now.

Speaker 6 (01:51):
That's why I asked you is maybe you're looking for
things that are a little more specificate. Maybe even Reiker
made the field goal, but your snap was just a
little bit off, but they still figured it out. So
you're saying ninety percent you were really really happy with. Yeah,
I would say about ninety ninety. Probably that's wrong with
ninety's sweet.

Speaker 7 (02:08):
Yeah, yeah, I mean there are a little couple of
nuances where I'm looking at it where everyone would be like, oh,
good snap, and I'm looking at the laces. Maybe the
location that could have gotten a little bit better. But
but yeah, that's a great question. R.

Speaker 6 (02:19):
How about this one. Then, let's take this up a notch.
What percentage of snaps in your career? Would the public
think it was the kicker's fault? But you had immediately
go to the kicker. You're like, that's on me, that's
on me, because it's so subtle that the kicker knew
that maybe it was the bad snap, but the average
fan can't see it.

Speaker 5 (02:38):
Another great question, Man, I'm killing it today, Cory.

Speaker 7 (02:43):
I would say probably more Briban, a lot more than
the average viewer would think, just because our battery is
so uh tuned in. You know, one little movement where
if Ryan's not catching it, you know out over the spot,
he's catching into his body and his shoulder has to turn.
You know that the kicker is seeing all this, you know,
and his periff and I just don't know if maybe

(03:05):
that throws off his timing or his focus. So I
usually will take the blame and be like, you know what,
had the snap been over the spot, no little funny
business going on, we would have we would have made that.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
But you know so.

Speaker 7 (03:20):
There's probably a lot more that I think would be
on me than on the kicker.

Speaker 5 (03:26):
You guys the test this year, so who cares? Just
killed it the whole year, which is awesome, will makes
us all look good.

Speaker 6 (03:33):
Yeah, he's uh, what's the furthest you've seen him boot
one through in practice now a couple of years in Honestly,
we don't really go back that far in practice too.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
No, there's no reason to.

Speaker 7 (03:43):
I mean you can tell when he kicks the ball
from forty yards, fifty yards, thirty yards, like, that's probably
good from sixty five, sixty eight, seventy and I think
there was one what was that the sixty two yard
we hit at home? I forget who we were playing,
but everyone looked at that. That probably would have been good
from seventy seventy one.

Speaker 5 (04:03):
Sheets What a rocket? Yeah, that's sweet.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
Yeah, I'm going to ask you not as good a
question as Corey, but I'm gonna ask you a question
I've been waiting to ask you for a long time.
But you've been on the show a couple of times,
and both times I wasn't here that day. For somebodys,
I thought you were avoiding me, and I don't blame you,
So I told the story. When you were in the
elevator coming up. In seventh grade, a coach walked around

(04:28):
and he said, don who wants to long snap? And
I was an idiot and raised my hand because it
ruined my entire high school career and because once they
realized I could do it, I had to do it
from seventh grade all the way through senior year, and
it scared me to death every time. Was there a
moment like that for you or did you choose to
be a long snapper?

Speaker 7 (04:48):
And I definitely didn't choose to be a snapper. Sort
of in college, you know, the coaches would ask who
could long snap? Who can do it just for like
emergency purposes and being a quarterback and throwing the ball
just came naturally and then that's all it really is, is
throwing the ball between your legs. So I would do
it and practice it, and one of our assistant coaches

(05:09):
was like, yeah, you're pretty good at that, Like, if
you just keep working on it, I think you'd make
a good emergency snapper. And so I just kept working
on it. And you know, there's a lot that happened
in between, but here we are today.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Yeah, and at the time, you were a receiver, is
that right?

Speaker 5 (05:25):
So I was a quarterback, recruited as a quarterback, and
I switched to a receiver in college.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Right, that's what I thought I'd about it, right, yeah, man,
And you were like, Okay, well I can do this.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
I might have a shot. And then all these years later,
you're still in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (05:36):
How incredible, right still here? Yep, they haven't figured it
out yet.

Speaker 6 (05:40):
So, Andrew, how many injuries would have to take place
for you to be the emergency quarterback in a game
fifty two?

Speaker 5 (05:50):
So brilliant. Let's let's treat this like this is the presidency.

Speaker 6 (05:54):
So like let's say JJ goes down, Brozemurg goes down,
whoever the third one would be at the time, depending
on which week.

Speaker 5 (06:00):
It is, who's who's like fourth or fifth?

Speaker 7 (06:03):
If all of them get hurt, I think, man, So
I think probably Jets would be in there at some
point because he's just so athletic.

Speaker 5 (06:12):
That would be unbelievable.

Speaker 7 (06:14):
Probably running back at some point, I think you just
go down the line of athleticism, right, so like receivers,
running backs. But it would have to be somebody that
knows the entire offensive playbook?

Speaker 8 (06:24):
Right?

Speaker 9 (06:25):
Is that why?

Speaker 6 (06:25):
Essentially you're just not in the mix because you don't
how much of that do you know?

Speaker 5 (06:30):
I know how to spell offense? I should? I could.
That's it. You're not giving a book, right, No, no, no, no.
And I even though it might not matter.

Speaker 6 (06:42):
Because the game might be out of control if we're
talking to the fourth or fifth quarterback, but they can't
just go all right, Andrew, you can throw it, but
just just go out there and sling it.

Speaker 5 (06:49):
They don't want that either, right.

Speaker 7 (06:50):
I don't know who to throw it too, right man?
I mean I would have to ask is this a
run or is this a pass play? I don't know
what we're doing.

Speaker 5 (06:56):
Can you imagine that's how the last game felt?

Speaker 9 (06:59):
Anyway?

Speaker 8 (06:59):
Yeah? Who is considered the greatest long snapper of all time?
Like personal opinion greatest?

Speaker 7 (07:09):
Well, you have Morgan Cox who's still playing for Titans.
He has you know, five Pro Bowls. I don't know
how many All pros he had, but he kind of
uh set the standard for like this new wave of
long snapper where you don't really do anything else but
long snap. It's you know, you're that is your position,
long snapper And you know before earlier on long snapper

(07:32):
was just something a tight end, a linebacker, even an
offensive lineman would do. So, you know, it's kind of
tough to think, like, Okay, who was the best long
snapper of all time? You have like a couple big names,
you know, David benn obviously is up there. Pat Mantley

(07:53):
is a big one, but like the position has changed
so much over the course of the years. That's a
that's a tough question. That's a good one, but I
mean that was just my personal opinion with Morgan not.

Speaker 6 (08:04):
As good as my question saw us. But I thought
it was so I thought you, I mean, you're hanging
in there. But it's okay, Chris, what game was it?
You mentioned it a couple of days ago that that
Will Reiker basically almost didn't get into a game because
they didn't believe he was a Viking.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
I forget, what's where we were at.

Speaker 5 (08:18):
That happens all the time. He's got a baby face.

Speaker 6 (08:21):
When we were in Europe and they weren't quite sure
he was on the team. Yeah, he's got a baby face.
It doesn't help last year, last.

Speaker 7 (08:29):
Year, not this past season, the one before his rookie year,
our first game in New York, New York, security wouldn't
let him on the field.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
Sorry are you?

Speaker 6 (08:39):
And Ryan saying like this is our guy? Does somebody
have to vouch for him? Or how do they eventually
get him on the field?

Speaker 7 (08:44):
I mean, yeah, so people walk by and be like,
why are you talking? Security? Security be like you know him, Yeah,
he's a kicker him on and then you know, after that,
I would try to like stay next to him, might
hold his.

Speaker 5 (08:56):
Hands across street, is your and one? Yeah exactly. I know.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
What also's crazy is that you guys are out there
right before the game and then obviously also after halftime
is ending. You're doing your stuff while people are still
on the field, either doing opening ceremonies or you know,
still the band is still out there doing the drum
line and stuff like that. But you're snapping and anybody
ever just get clobbered by a snap or a kick
while you guys are out there at halftime I watch

(09:24):
every time to see if it happens.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
Yeah, yeah, I've seen.

Speaker 7 (09:27):
I've seen a few, and actually a couple of years ago, Uh,
somebody got hit in the head. I think, uh Eagles.
It was an Eagles game. And then the league sent
out a memo reminding everyone, hey, kicker, snappers, punters can't
come out until there's two minutes left on the ten
minute clock for halftime. So that is a rule. We're
not really allowed to be out there. Yeah, but people

(09:48):
kind of look the other way until someone gets hit
in the head and it's.

Speaker 6 (09:50):
Like everyone during snoop nocked it down.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
Yeah awesome.

Speaker 5 (09:58):
I tried.

Speaker 7 (09:59):
I tried get out early to watch it, and they
were like, no, you can't do it.

Speaker 9 (10:03):
Man.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
Wow man, yeah that was you missed a good man.

Speaker 5 (10:07):
Thanks, thank you. Yep, that's brutal. They were going to
let you guys out there. The Netflix locked it down.
They wouldn't let anyone out.

Speaker 6 (10:16):
So I hear you. You come bearing gifts for us.
We love when people get stuff.

Speaker 5 (10:20):
Yeah, I got a couple Bagel Shop shirts here.

Speaker 7 (10:22):
Hell yeah, hell yeah. Hopefully they fit. There's only two sizes,
so what are the sizes? Excel and two XL two
XL will be for sauce.

Speaker 5 (10:32):
I hate that. Hey, I'm a two XCEL. Don't think
things a little loose, ye, keep it, keep it loose
behind behind the curtain.

Speaker 6 (10:39):
Right before we came back from break, anders like I
keep forgetting Like you guys are normal sized people.

Speaker 5 (10:43):
These are normally for NFL players.

Speaker 6 (10:45):
I'm like, well, we can probably fire a joker to it,
Sauce when you tell.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
Tell everybody what the sizes are. No, you got a
bagel shop.

Speaker 6 (10:52):
We've mentioned this a million times, which is super cool.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
You got it. We eventually got to expand your and
get them in Minnesota. But this is east coast right,
what state again? Maryland? Maryland?

Speaker 9 (11:01):
Right?

Speaker 5 (11:01):
Yeah, yep, Mary.

Speaker 7 (11:02):
Would love to bring one out here. We'll see if
we can make it happen. But yeah, we're just plugging
along with the one shop right now.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
I know the such thing as a silent investor, but
you ever have no money investor?

Speaker 7 (11:13):
Uh yeah, that would entail a lot of work at
the shop, though, I'd be okay with that.

Speaker 5 (11:17):
She willing to work at the Paula's Bagel and Brush. Yeah, yeah,
that sounds amazing. We'll make it fun.

Speaker 6 (11:22):
You have you have food service experience. You worked at
dairy Queen, I did, I got fired? Hey, yeah, we
stealing from the till.

Speaker 5 (11:30):
No, I've never done that.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
You're stealing from the kitchen.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
Yeah, you got a four x L though.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
So do you get nervous about snapping at all?

Speaker 9 (11:41):
Still?

Speaker 5 (11:43):
No?

Speaker 3 (11:43):
No?

Speaker 7 (11:43):
Yeah, no, I quick I look at it is. No
matter what I'm doing, no one's really looking at me.
They're looking at the kicker or the punter or the
coverage team. So I kind of hide in and all that.
And I don't know if that's a mental trick. I
think it's real, but no one's really looking at me.
So I just kind of takes solace in that and
do my job and get off the field. Yeah, whatever works, right, Yeah,

(12:06):
I think we've.

Speaker 6 (12:06):
Asked you this in the past, because again we kind
of got blown away when we saw you hit four
monster home runs at the celebrity softball game a couple
of years ago.

Speaker 5 (12:13):
Is that the feeling foundation been right? Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 6 (12:16):
But Parish is the same way, right. Parish was an
you know, Olympian, NHL All Star. But he's kind of
good at everything. He's not really bad at anything except
for initials. But but you seem like you're that guy
as well. Right, you seem like you're pretty good at
almost everything you try to do when it comes to
athletics or competition. Right, there's got to be something you're

(12:37):
terrible at, though. Give me something that would surprise us. Wow,
I'll take the compliment. First of all, I'm not gonna
argue with you. I'm sure like, are you like, are
you good at golf?

Speaker 5 (12:49):
Decent? What's good at golf?

Speaker 4 (12:50):
Like you hit, you make contact with the ball?

Speaker 5 (12:52):
Consider? Yeah? Yeah, yuards, darts, darts, pol pool, Yeah, grew
up play bowling. I enjoyed bowling. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (13:03):
See, we're not We got to find a weakness in
Angel to Paula's game.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
Here, you're good at that with the little tiny paddles.
What's it called?

Speaker 9 (13:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (13:10):
You good at ping pong? Yeah, that's my weakness. When
it comes to bar Olympics. Yeah, I'm that's not my weakness.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
I still think we had to do the power Trip Olympics.
How cool would it be like.

Speaker 5 (13:21):
Bar to bar?

Speaker 9 (13:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (13:22):
Well, foodsball and pink could hockey.

Speaker 6 (13:26):
We could end it Paula's bagel and brunch. We can
have our post game. We'll have you man, what about
like card games, board games? You super competitive and good
at those two or not?

Speaker 5 (13:37):
Uh? Probably super competitive? Yeah, I mean, I guess it
depends on the game play Poker.

Speaker 7 (13:44):
I've played poker before. I'm not that good at poker.
I'll be honest. I'm not a good not a good bluffer.
I don't have a good poker face. That's I don't
know if that counts as athletic weakness. It's definitely not
a sport.

Speaker 5 (13:57):
Short snapping.

Speaker 8 (14:00):
Field goal, Yeah, Tommy's good at the snapping shorts.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
Remember when we were asking good questions and stuff like that.

Speaker 5 (14:09):
Right downhill man, what's your off season plan look like?
Going anywhere?

Speaker 10 (14:14):
Fun?

Speaker 5 (14:15):
Get any big plans? No, we're gonna go Actually, we're
gonna go down to Florida here kind of soon, get
a get out of the weather, hopefully get some sun,
come back, and then we'll kind of make our way
back to Maryland in a few weeks.

Speaker 7 (14:29):
Just get back there, see the shop, see some family friends.
Kind of lay low this one. We really don't have
anything planned. We're just gonna kind of relax and hang out.

Speaker 5 (14:37):
And you have like fifty kids, right, how many you have?
Just four?

Speaker 9 (14:41):
Just four?

Speaker 4 (14:42):
That's a lot.

Speaker 5 (14:44):
Yeah, I think it feels like fifty sometimes I knew
it was more than two. It's four though, what's what's
the age range? Six four and one? Six four to
two and one? And that is U. That's a tornado
of top right of it? Right when they're all crying
is when it's when it's a.

Speaker 4 (15:03):
Lot, we'll stop being me.

Speaker 5 (15:05):
Yeah. I have marshmallows for breakfast.

Speaker 6 (15:10):
Have you ever purchased any of them? A power wheel,
like one of those big wheels?

Speaker 7 (15:14):
Yes, yes, I got them, the one where you control
it you have no control.

Speaker 5 (15:19):
Yeah, so like they don't have to steer and steer.
That was fun, that's us. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (15:24):
My dad never got me one of those. So my
one year old is going to get one soon, just
despite my father.

Speaker 5 (15:31):
There you go.

Speaker 8 (15:32):
I hold grudges even against my family.

Speaker 11 (15:35):
Looks like it it's everyone.

Speaker 5 (15:38):
Else's fault, all right. You played initials once. It was
like less than a year ago.

Speaker 6 (15:42):
We were figuring that out the the day he was
like last summer, I was in Vegas, Chris. I don't
know where you were, but you and I were gone.
Zach hosted Andrew got one. You got one, you got
on the board. I got one no morning Today, the
Fellows will play in a second sauce. Andrew Depaula, Mark Parrish,
and Chris Hockey square off an initial game I think
six to eleven.

Speaker 5 (16:01):
Right after this power trip morning chill on the fan, Okay.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
Getting all set up here by the way, Sunday at
nine o'clock on HBO, The Night of the Seven Kingdoms. Yeah,
it's the next I dont no iteration.

Speaker 5 (16:26):
Sure of Game of Thrones.

Speaker 6 (16:28):
Decent reviews so far, not like super over the top glowing,
but like solid reviews. I think it's like eighty seven
percent on mister Z's favorite website.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
I know people hate it when people say this, but
I read the book and it's a completely different story.
But there's a character called Egg who is one of
the main characters. I loved that character in the book.
I'm looking forward to seeing that. I love this, this
whole storyline, So I'm excited.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Andrew Depaula, do you do you like that Game of Thrones?
Is that kind of your car?

Speaker 5 (16:53):
Yeah? Come on now, Yeah, come on now. So you're
all in on Sunday night for a Night of the
Seven Kingdoms? You're in. No, I'm gonna watch it eventually, yeah,
but I can't do you a binger. Yeah, I can't
binge a hole like wait anymore? Isn't it weird?

Speaker 3 (17:05):
Because I mean, you're much much younger than me. But
at one time in our lives we had to wait, right, yeah, right,
not anymore anymore anymore.

Speaker 5 (17:14):
I'm gonna take that control back.

Speaker 4 (17:15):
So I get it. I get it.

Speaker 5 (17:17):
We'll see, we'll see on Sunday night. All right, you
guys ready, Yeah, what happens?

Speaker 2 (17:22):
Let's go this this initials game six eleven on the
Power Trip.

Speaker 3 (43:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (43:19):
Boston University baby, yeah? Oh yeah? All right? Well, so
eymake Sean Bates is kicking me right now. Not for
that one.

Speaker 3 (43:28):
I don't know if you're willing to do this or not.
But the NFL games this weekend, I see it Attle
versus San Francisco.

Speaker 5 (43:36):
Who he got? Oh?

Speaker 6 (43:38):
Uh, San fran oh man? Really despite all the injuries.
I'm just taking a shot in the dark here. I
love that Patriots host the Texans.

Oh, Patriots, Bears host the Rams.

Speaker 5 (43:59):
I think it's gonna be the Rams.

Speaker 4 (44:01):
What's the other game?

Speaker 5 (44:03):
The Broncos and Bills.

Speaker 4 (44:05):
Broncos are the Bills.

Speaker 5 (44:07):
I think it's gonna be Bills. I think some Bills
in that one, I hope.

Speaker 9 (44:10):
So.

Speaker 5 (44:11):
I feel like a lot of people are cheering for
Josh Allen. You'll get it done. Enough heartbreak for that guy.
And as Vikings fans.

Speaker 6 (44:17):
Vikings fans live vicariously through the Bills because they are
the AFC equivalent of the Minnesota Vikings.

Speaker 5 (44:22):
Right, but oh and four, aren't they? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (44:25):
But also I believe they're also exactly Owen four in
the Super Bowl. So it's like that, it feels like
it's awesome. The other side, Yeah, I'm cheering for Buffalo.
You spend a whole year in Chicago or just a
part of the year.

Speaker 5 (45:07):
Hark wants them to lose so bad on I do.

Speaker 4 (45:10):
I can't help.

Speaker 3 (45:11):
But it used to be like, well, Philly is still
the worst fans in the league, but Chicago's really getting worse.

Speaker 5 (45:17):
It's like the bad fans come out when the team
is doing well. It's true, if you go to Philly
and they're not winning, fans are great, they're easy to
get along with, they're easy to talk to. But when
they're winning anyway.

Speaker 6 (45:27):
Here's a question that you can ask your neighbor, but
you can ask a professional athlete.

Speaker 5 (45:31):
Was there a bonus for all pro in your contract? No?

Speaker 7 (45:34):
Damn, no extra money for all Pro? No, you have
a Pro Bowl bonus. Well, you get money for going
with the Pro Bowl.

Speaker 6 (45:40):
Okay, that's from the league, though, not looking your contract
my contract to No, no bonus for an all pro status. Man,

can get same.

Speaker 5 (45:53):
You're the Andrew DePaulo is the fan. No, he's way better.
I was gonna.

Speaker 6 (45:56):
Say, rights gets the contract, push across the table and
say just sign this and go back to work, and
he does.

Speaker 4 (46:03):
Yeah right, look at them.

Speaker 3 (46:04):
You spent an extended period of time in Tampa, and
I love that stadium and I love when they shoot
that cannon. I just think that's the coolest thing ever.

Speaker 5 (46:11):
Yeah, it's It would still cast me off guard every
now and then when they would shoot it. Yeah, my gosh,
we do that. I forgot it is. It's really loud.
