Speaker 2 (00:08):
Your world unleashed.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Hi, everybody there, we are look at us? Would you
just just look at us?
Speaker 4 (00:21):
Here?
Speaker 3 (00:21):
We are the best we can do. Cato five. It's
the first day of October, for guy's sakes. What do
you think of that.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
One?
Speaker 5 (00:34):
In September eighth? We have one drop of rain in September.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Very little, no.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Driest and warm up.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
That's so dry? Yeah, okay, far dad?
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Is this about beady eyes? This is about corny Cob.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
It's called The Depths of the Cove.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Seedy Eyes.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Another one of those.
Speaker 6 (00:55):
AI songs from Patrick golden Rod.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
He named the band the Roe, which I like.
Speaker 5 (01:04):
Its more fascinated with me than you are. When I'm
not here, he talks about me.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
It's the weirdest we all do.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
I know you all do, which is fine. I like
the button bar stuff, but he's just weird about it.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
He's obsessive. Ye, that's what he is.
Speaker 5 (01:22):
He's just the strangest things out of the wait, what
what reference is this?
Speaker 2 (01:28):
How does your brain work? Just barely? He's a smart.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Guy, but he's like a doggie with the bone.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Yeah it alone, Ye, I like it.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Thank you, Hi high mars Hid. We started with what
a mess.
Speaker 7 (01:55):
Yeah, it's time for a fan five, brought to you
by Builder Modelers.
Speaker 6 (02:00):
Thank you boy remodels. Don't forget Jonathan Griannard Bottom this hour.
And by the way, that's right, that's right. If I
may game two tonight, mm hmm links They lost game
one here Scheryl Reeve.
Speaker 7 (02:15):
Now, the further you go in the playoffs, right, the
harder it's a team you're playing against. Its obviously here
for a reason because they're really good. We're here because
we're really good. And now it's two teams just going
back and forth and I'm not going to get anything easy.
And then it's just about players, you know, finding way
to make a play.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
You know.
Speaker 7 (02:30):
That's the place that we've got to make sure that
we excel at.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Okay, well that was it.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
Was that it sad I take it from here. I
don't know. I mean, I don't need to tell.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
I don't know what more Hawk can do.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Yeah, they need.
Speaker 8 (02:47):
It's a very good basketball team. And we have now
played the Sun four times total.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
This year, and we've lost three of those games.
Speaker 8 (02:57):
We went two and one in the regular season and
then obviously lost game one in the playoffs, and all
have been close games. But this is a This Connecticut
defense is equal to Minnesota's defense. So when you talk
about being able to rely on that or like how
hard it is to go up against an elite defense,
(03:17):
both teams are dealing with that.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
And the fourth quarter I think is.
Speaker 8 (03:24):
Was the separator in this game, and the Links just
could not hit a shot. They had eight points in
the fourth quarter. Coach Connecticut only had sixteen. I mean
the second half. Our defense held Connecticut to fifteen points
in the third quarter, sixteen points in the fourth quarter.
That is good enough to win, and that is good
enough to win a playoff game. But when your offense
only scores eight in the fourth quarter, that ain't gonna
(03:46):
do it. But Marina Maybury is also not going to
go six of eleven from three very often, and Courtney
Williams for US is not going to go three of
twelve overall very often. But I think Connecticut said, look, no,
Fisa Colliers not scoring forty points again US, and they
focus on her and they held her significantly below that.
(04:06):
So we got to figure something out, and we'll do
that tonight. The Links did not lose consecutive games at
home all season.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
And this is a three out of five series.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Correct, Yes it is. It's one nothing, one nothing.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
They moved to Connecticut after.
Speaker 8 (04:20):
Yes, it'll be one one, and then we'll go to
Connecticut for games three and four.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
We'll come back here and win in five.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
I like to.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
Yes your thoughts on the proposed Karl Anthony Town's trade.
Speaker 8 (04:35):
It's complicated, even my thoughts. I it's I was shocked.
Jim Peterson texted me and we were at Grady's football game,
Chaska High School homecoming game, and so I wasn't around
my phone, wasn't looking at my phone. And after the game,
I pulled my phone out and I was like, oh
(04:57):
my god. And Matt's like, what happened?
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Happened?
Speaker 3 (05:01):
He thought a family member passed? That is funny.
Speaker 8 (05:05):
Oh yeah, sorry, I should always I should have led
with that. My husband, Matt said, what happened? Did a
family member pass away?
Speaker 3 (05:12):
I said kind of?
Speaker 9 (05:14):
No.
Speaker 8 (05:16):
So it's complicated with Carl because I feel like he
has been good to great on this team at times
on the basketball court, but always off the basketball court.
We don't read about another dui for Carl, or it's
this trouble with the law, or he's he's a good person,
(05:38):
he's a good human being. He doesn't cause issues, and
sometimes with professional athletes, that's that's a bonus, and you
don't often think about that until you have the one
that causes.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
All the problems and you're like, oh my god, we
have to get.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Rid of this.
Speaker 8 (05:52):
So that is one section of my trying to just
sort out all the details of this Carl trade. The
other the basketball part, obviously, and I feel like he
may have reached his ceiling with the Wolves and can
only do so much with this group. So I'm okay
with the trade, assuming Julius Randall can give us a lot.
(06:15):
I think Dante DiVincenzo is a pretty good player. Neither
one of them is as good as Cat, but combined
plus a first round draft pick, we're gonna be fine.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
Hawk. I heard you asking the question yesterday.
Speaker 8 (06:26):
I think it was assuming we were significantly worse now
because of this trade, and I don't think that's the
case at all. I'm not saying we're better, but I
don't think we dropped off a whole lot, and I
think personally for Towns to be playing in New York.
He's from a touching New Jersey, which is like forty
minutes away. His dad played in a minor league system
(06:49):
of the New York Knicks. Like this is good for him,
it could be good for the Wolves.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
It might work all the way around.
Speaker 8 (06:58):
I just wish Carl the I know he's quirky, but
he's a good human being. He yes, when I was
going through my breast cancer stuff, Carl sent me flowers
with a handwritten car wow. And I thanked the Wolves
PR department the next day when I saw them.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
They had no idea. They didn't go to them.
Speaker 8 (07:17):
For an address or an information or a He did
it himself.
Speaker 10 (07:21):
That is.
Speaker 8 (07:21):
I'm just telling you that as to give you an
example of this is a good human being. I realize
you separate that from the basketball player. But I think
we're going to be okay, and I think he's going
to be okay.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
There's this the price of success, because the more success
he had, obviously, the more the position he got into
to cash in. And we know what his salary is
about to be. And the Wolves have other players, including
noasri Et cetera, et cetera, that they want to keep
under contract. So Tim Connley's looking at it like, well,
how are we going to do this and make all
(07:55):
this fit? It's it's just not easy to do and
and still maintain in the level of competitiveness in a
very very competitive Western Conference, which is going to even
get even tougher this year.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
So that's part of the problem.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
Million Over, you want to keep read Jane mc w whatever,
You're not going to do it with Carl Schallery at
that point.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
It's just not It's just not going to happen too much.
Speaker 10 (08:21):
Yeah, it's almost impossible with the new CD right.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
I'm just looking forward to when he comes back to
town and we can get on proper.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Doesn't he play Goodbye?
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Pre season game? It's in New York, New York, it's on.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Well.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
The other thing too, though, is it gives them howk
is we talked about yesterday.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
It gives them the best bench in the NBA. That's
a weird good place to sit.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
Yeah, I don't think chairs.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Most of the time.
Speaker 8 (08:50):
It gives him the deepest bench in We have the
deepest chairs, chairs, which I.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Need because I'm about to break this one off.
Speaker 10 (09:00):
Because I'm so fair averaged nineteen points a.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
Dante Van and he's h Brian O'Neill's high school teammate.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
He'll come out shooting.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
Yes, And as Dane Moore, who was on with PA,
that's an excellent interview PA did yesterday. Having Evencenzo come
off the bench or whatever role they play him in,
and now having some of these other guys that they
now have have brought in, and you have perfect people
to match up with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic what
(09:38):
you needed all during that playoff run in the Western
Conference finals. Now, who's gonna guard Joker? I don't know,
but if Tim Conley makes a big swing like this,
we have to trust him because it's got then doing nothing.
I'm not trying to just take shots at the Twins,
but it's better than doing Now, go ahead, you followed this.
(09:58):
You have been here since the team start. I'm not
ripping you. There was a time where they were I
mean six people would show up, Rosy, you and I
would go to games on Friday last no one would
be there. And now they're one of the best teams
in the NBA. You got to believe in what they're
doing well.
Speaker 5 (10:15):
The timing is perfect with what the NBA is doing
league wide as well, and I think there they got
a hot product right now straight across the board. And
pretty much every city that is engaged in this right now,
especially in the Western Conference, has got a reason to
go and watch the games. And the Timberwolves have got
to take advantage of it and not make it a
one hit wonder, basically getting to the West. And and
(10:37):
Connelly knows he's got the blueprint and he did it
in Denver and he's trying to get it done here.
And you know, we'll see how it works on I
wish Carl. I agree, Marty laid it out perfectly. I
wish Carl nothing but the best in New York. He's
gonna flourish there. He's gonna love it there.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
I think so too.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
Yeah, and then yeah, the Nicks will be fun. But
it's it's this, like Edwards said yesterday, it's a business.
They all know that when they signed their their big contracts,
and sometimes it just doesn't fit. It's not about personalities.
It's just about the idea that we have to we
have to keep getting better.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
How are we going to do that?
Speaker 3 (11:11):
And he's the best player on the team.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
And Tim Conley said yesterday in his press conference, he
thinks ant can be the best player ever.
Speaker 5 (11:21):
Ever, what ever in basketball ever? He did, Yes, he didn't, really,
Yes he did. Yeah, he thinks he can be the
best over Michael Jordan's, I mean over Larry. They were
compared him to Michael Jordan's six months ago. Okay, like
he's that good, Like he is, he's the best Wolf
of all time. He is, He's going to get there.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
He is. Yes, he is, to say, the best player ever.
I mean.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
Sports Center was doing pieces on that six months ago
that he's better, that he is the next Michael Jordan.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
I think it just turned.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
I think he'll be the first Anthony ever.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
I mean I start talking about the next Michael Jordan.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
Yes, talks cheering about it, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
Hawk Hawk has a blog about it.
Speaker 8 (12:04):
And basketball players, are you at your peak? What would
you say, like twenty eight? How he turned twenty three
in August, so yeah, two months ago, less than two
months ago he turned twenty three. Yeah, so if he's
got let's say a good five years until his peak.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
And and the best thing that happened to was playing
with that Olympic team because he saw how hard those
guys practice and play.
Speaker 5 (12:30):
So he get his buddy Kevin Durant. That's what he wants.
I might you never know.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
Yeah, o oh, is that what you're trying to say.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
He talked about this jams have flexibility. That's another thing
this trade does. Because Marty was saying, how big is
this contract with kat It's what.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
Two twenty over four years?
Speaker 2 (12:49):
Yeah? A lot of money.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Yeah, it gets to what like six.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
A lot of money.
Speaker 8 (12:53):
Yeah, the individually it goes like fifty eight to sixty
three year. Those are numbers, but that's what those super
max contracts look like.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Ye speaking of super Max. Hey, come on, hey, what
are they gonna do? What are they gonna do with
all this?
Speaker 10 (13:08):
I think I think it could there's a chance that
it could work really well.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Man.
Speaker 10 (13:12):
I mean Dante di Vincenzo, like I said, he averaged
nineteen points after the All Star break last year for
the New York Knicks. He set the single season franchise
record and three pointers made. And then we know, like
the Knicks ain't a new organization. They've been around forever.
So you break in New York Knicks records. That's a
pretty impressive feat man, and that he was integral to
their success. I mean, they they wouldn't have gotten as
(13:33):
far as they did without him, and unfortunately they ran
into some injuries. But the thing I'm worried about, I'm
not worried about Dante de Vincenzo Blenning and with the
team at all. It's just it's gonna there's gonna be
some growing pains, I think with Julius Randall, especially when
you have him out there on the floor with Rudy
Gobert at the same time. Defenses are going to look
at that and say, well, we're gonna just send like
three guys to three guys at Anthony Edwards and an
(13:54):
everybody's gonna have to step up. I mean and I
and we have no reason to believe that they're not.
Anthony Edwards has gotten better in every single statistical category
every single year since he came into the league. I mean,
that's what the guy does is just constantly improve. We
saw Jade McDaniels kind of become a little bit more
consistent as a scorer in the.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
Playoffs last year.
Speaker 10 (14:14):
We already know what Nasrita is capable of and how
he filled in Karl Anthony Towns shoes when he was
out towards the end of the season. So everybody's just
gonna need to step up more. And I think it's
key that Anthony Edwards. We saw it in the Olympics.
Like Saucy was talking about too, his playmaking ability is
what really needs to take the leap. He can score
on anybody, but he's going to really have to put
in an effort to make sure that everybody's gelling, that
(14:35):
the spacing is correct, because the spacing is going to
be totally different without Karl Anthony Towns on the floor.
So Anthony Edwards is just gonna have to take a
step up as a playmaker. And I think having Dealing
him come in here as a rookie is going to
help as well, because we just have more playmakers. We
have more guys that can go out and get buckets.
Like Saucy was saying, we got Joe Ingles now he's
a three point assassin. They got Dealing him, and they
(14:55):
got Terren Shannon Jr. He was tearing it up in
the Summer League. So we got guys I can go
out there and get a bucket. We already know that
defense is the calling card, so the defense is going
to be there.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
We got Rudy, we got Jayden.
Speaker 10 (15:05):
Who Jayden told me yesterday his personal goals to be
Defensive Player of the Year, first team All Defense. Where's
their first game that it's at It's at LA.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
It's a Lakers. No, it's October.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
Twenty seconds and it's on the t And are you
gonna be there?
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Martins?
Speaker 3 (15:22):
No, it's a They don't even get to broadcast.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Is anybody here going going?
Speaker 3 (15:27):
You're going?
Speaker 9 (15:28):
You?
Speaker 5 (15:28):
Well, I'm gonna see the Vikings. The Vikings played the
Rams that week as well, so I'm gonna go with them.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Maybe I could go to.
Speaker 5 (15:34):
Vikings so I get an opportunity to go see my
son out there in LA and go hang out with
a couple of friends, and uh get tickets for the
opening game against.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
The Lebron and BROWNNI So that was fun. That'll be fun,
That'll be great. I can't wait.
Speaker 6 (15:47):
He listen speaking, I can't wait. Gerard joins the Power Trip.
In the next segment, Minnesota Vikings superstar Johnathan Gernard right
for this much more mortgage on a fan relationship.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Man, We love you.
Speaker 6 (16:01):
This is uly uh, the further adjustments and burnout.

Keyword calendar, Oh my god, thank you?
Speaker 5 (16:31):
No, okay, there's directional so nothing. Sometimes you have conversations
off here. All of a sudden, someone in this room
starts doing a commercial.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
I thought any prior knowledge anyway.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
This is frobic and farewell. No, you won't see me
here sheets Yeah are you?
Speaker 6 (16:56):
Rosie? Okay, welcome back. Jonath Gernard hearing about ten minutes
or so. We talked to him about all day the day.
Plus he is a bad, bad man.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
Marty's here, Roses here?
Speaker 4 (17:14):
Hey Rose, Hi, quickly before we get into sure our
next bit, Pete Rose death.
Speaker 5 (17:19):
Your thoughts complicated, man, I mean it's my feelings. Everyone
associates it saying, well, should he be he? Should he
not be in the Hall of Fame? And I think
that had he come forward right away and see I've
been in baseball. I think the chances would have increased greatly.
But he denied it. Deny that tonight it. But having
(17:41):
said that, I still feel there's a lot of Uh.
How can I see this unscrupulous people in charge of
a lot of things. Uh, And it made a lot
of big mistakes. And I look at him more than
the steroid are Pete Rose had over you know, the hit,
the all time hit leader. I don't think that putting
his bust in Cooperstown really affects people. I mean like
(18:05):
he's tarnishing the game. I think the time had come
and gone that that he paid his he paid his
dues and deserved to be in the Hall of Fame.
And now, sadly, you know, he'll never live to see
that day. And I mean it was weird because I
saw a picture of him the like taken the day
before with a lot of his guys from the Cincinnati Reds,
(18:26):
the Big Red Machine. But you know, I watched the
Netflix special on him, and again he's he he had
a complicated life and that's not unusual. But I saw
him get the first hit at the Metrodome. He got
as an exhibition game against the Pills and the Twins
were playing them on a wintery night, and Pete Rose
(18:46):
laced a double or something to left, and it's like
that was the first hit ever in that's a trivia
question for it a first hit ever in the Metrodome.
It was an exhibition game, but he got it. Watched
him play in All Star games, you know, just he
was Charlie Hustle and and I think that, I mean,
I think people now, especially the whole different generations, uh,
going to Cooperstown to see Pete Rose. Proper place I
(19:10):
think was there. You can argue that that you know,
the Bonds, the mcguires, the Solsas, you know, the the
guys that you know, the steroid air in particular that
baseball encouraged. But Pete Rose, I think I bet on
his team. I mean, and they made other bets. But
I don't think there was ever a situation where people
thought he was affecting the outcome of the games.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
But I don't know. That's just why I don't know.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
I think there were a couple.
Speaker 5 (19:38):
Of times in the piece, Yeah, the way you handle
a relief picture or two, I think I saw, Yeah,
I softened my my position about it over the years.
I just think as a player, he earned his place
and then and then some so you know, again, it
doesn't matter. Everyone's got their own personal opinion about it.
(19:59):
But doesn't matter. Now the man's passed and other than this,
his family and uh and how they feel about it.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (20:05):
I don't think it's ever gonna really change. If it
hasn't changed by now, why wouldn't, Why would it not.
It's like, oh, Pete Rose passed away, let's put him
in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
Yeah, that was Hawk's team, man.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
Yeah, I mean that was like when we grew up
with like Griffy Junior and all them, like that was
the era of baseball. That was Hawks squad, the big
red machine man. They were something I loved him did. Yeah,
how can you not? They were bigger than life figures
in Cincinnati. Yeah, it's fortune.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
He played. Let me see hold on again here in
my notes.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
He played twenty four seasons. Yeah, uh, he played in
the most games. He's a seventeen time All Star, Right, unbelievable.
Speaker 10 (20:44):
Yeah, yeah, he was everywhere right Hawk Like he had
like Cereal and all types of endorsement, like the action figures,
like he was everything to everyone in the country. Obviously
to you guys because of the location. But he was
like the guy in baseball during that time, right.
Speaker 8 (20:58):
It was also the way he plate, it was so charismatic.
It was you imitated him on the playground.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
It was Crouch at home plate.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
Yeah, yeah, an All Star game.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
Ray Fossey injured him in an All Star Game when
head first dance home plate the dancer, Yeah, helmet flying
off his head rounding first base, just so. They called
him Charlie Hustle. Yeah, I don't know, it's it's too bad.
It's sad that it ended up. His life was sad
in a lot of ways, but kind of make your
(21:35):
own bed too.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
He was both sides of the batman, Ye, Chris Man.
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (21:41):
I'm just I'm watching some highlights of him right now,
and I swear to got him nine years old.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
I mean he one of the breakdowns. And when Barrel
yesterday is I think he was on like Fox playoff
coverage and he was talking to Frank Thomas and a
Rod about like what happens you getting a slump and
he said, don't change anything. That's what got you into
the big League, and then he explained how like he
moved up in the box, moved back in the box,
and it was brilliant. It was a brilliant breakdown. He
(22:06):
may have bet on games, but that still you still
don't get that many hits or not he belongs in
the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 3 (22:13):
Four thousand hits gets.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
You into the Hall of Fame on a basis.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
OJ's in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
I mean he is, Yeah, he is.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
He's in the Baseball Hall of Fame. He is because
he was in naked gun.
Speaker 8 (22:25):
I heard Bonus when he was here. I heard this argument.
You just do not want to accept the bonus. Bonus
was saying, yes, all of his numbers put him in
the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
The only part is that when you're.
Speaker 8 (22:39):
Gambling on your own team, right, you're now affecting the
integrity and.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Hideous is what OJ did. Hideous. It didn't affect the
what he did as.
Speaker 5 (22:50):
A baseball career, as a player, not a man. And
you can judge him differently. I don't think when he
was playing, I mean, maybe he was making best.
Speaker 8 (22:56):
It's still the game of baseball, right, and yes, you're
I'm I'm totally on the fence about it.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
But I thought Bonus made a.
Speaker 8 (23:03):
Good point that every argument you make you're correct, Rosie,
and you are correct as well. And then comes the
trump card and the trump card where he says, but
because you bet on the game in which you had
all the hits and you were the best player, but
(23:24):
you brought in the integrity of the game, and you
threatened to bring the whole thing down. That's how Bonus
phrased it. And I was like, yeah, that's kind of
a good point.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
But you bet on it after your accomplishment.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
Correct, that's my point. He urged his way.
Speaker 5 (23:43):
You could have an asterisk when you say, well, you
could actually put.
Speaker 8 (23:48):
Do we know that he did not bet on games
at all while he played.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
I do not know that.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
I don't think it was.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
But it's agreed, but you still basic. Let yeah, there
are a lot of us, no question his accomplishments.
Speaker 5 (24:04):
Yeah, there are a lot of heinous things that are
in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
Yeah, you know, and.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
Yeah, and another walks of life because when they get
themselves in a position of power, and we're talking about
a ceremonial thing, really we're not talking about actual power
that you have. And people you know, the scumbags that
are the ceols or whatever they're They've done and affecting
people to this day. Yeah, you're not. You're not punishing them.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
I mean, just us.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
Hear that scumbag Joe Mauer got in.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
How the hell how did he.
Speaker 5 (24:34):
Get he took someone else's glass of milk?
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Wow? By accidents? Really? Yeah, Gallon, are you a party
that rosie him back?
Speaker 3 (24:49):
There is an artist talk about at ESPN.
Speaker 8 (24:53):
It was published in twenty fifteen, so this is pretty old.
New documents at that time, obtained by Outside the Line
indicated Pete Rose bett extensively on baseball and on the
Cincinnati Reds as he racked up the last hits of
a record smashing career.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
In nineteen eighty six.
Speaker 8 (25:10):
The documents go beyond the evidence presented in the report
that led to rose banishment.
Speaker 5 (25:15):
Well, he's betty on the Cincinnati Reds, that's what they said, right,
not against them.
Speaker 8 (25:20):
Well, bet on baseball and on the Reds. I mean,
if you put a bet on the Reds, you can
still bet on them to lose.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Well, that's true, that's true.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
I'm just saying that.
Speaker 8 (25:32):
This article says he always denied that he bet while
he played, and then there are documents indicating it.
Speaker 5 (25:39):
I'm be shocked if he didn't. You're right, But again
I think he paid his I mean, if he had
his prison term, so to speak. And I still think
as a baseball player, deserved to be in there after
all these years. That's all in the later stages of
his life, and so I think the fans would have
loved it. I think people will of appreciate it, and
(26:01):
some people, detractors would say he still doesn't belonging there. Well,
you can make that argument until.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
As we've talked about before, and Corey has said this
multiple times, at one point he was sitting at the
Field of Dreams store in the MGM Grand signing autographs
for cash, like that's.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
The Johnny Cash. Yeah, that's the Hits legend.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
He answer the phone, he would say, Hip King and
he's signing autographs.
Speaker 5 (26:27):
He did it everywhere you were signed that he would.
He'd be in Vegas, he'd be everywhere, and Keepperstone he
goes out there. It's yeah there you like I said,
that's the sad part of his life.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
For sure. It certainly is.
Speaker 6 (26:41):
It's it's it's it's too bad because my gosh, talk
about a fall from grace. Yep, and uh, there you go.
But I do hear our guest is on the hotline
right now, so oh terrific. You want to go ahead and
punch him up for me over there please?
Speaker 2 (26:54):
Of course.
Speaker 3 (26:57):
There are four and oh and.
Speaker 6 (26:58):
One of their defensive leaders is on the phone right now.
Jonathan Garnard is the Minnesota Vikings is on the phone,
and what a fun game?
Speaker 3 (27:04):
What a strange game. What's going on?
Speaker 6 (27:05):
Oh yeah, I gotta thank you very much, Max, So
what a fun game, What a strange game for so
many Vikings fans. There was a lot of stress there
on the field. How did it feel to be a
part of such an up and down game that finally
ended up going the right way?
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Jonathan Gernard, Yeah, feels good.
Speaker 9 (27:19):
We've got to dub. But obviously everybody here but definitely
knew it was gonna be a battle losing a hostile environment.
We didn't want to give any momentum. We kind of
did a little bit and that's what made the game
more like interesting from a perspective, But we definitely had
to clinch some stuff up. But it was definitely a very,
(27:40):
very harderfull game.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
Hey, Jonathan, when you guys, when it got to the
point where you guys had that twenty eight nothing lead,
how much how much fun is it as a defensive
player knowing that they are going to drop back and
pass almost every play?
Speaker 9 (27:56):
It's great? Great, kind of is good bad because you
know that you want to pin your ears back obviously
to go go hunt a quarterback, and they're gonna be
opportunities for that. But most times you're seeing that, you're
knowing that, hey, they're gonna start to try to get
this quarterback in some sort of a rhythm where there's
some short click throws or screens to do that. So
they do a lot of annoying stuff. But when we
(28:18):
do get the opportunity, man, we're definitely looking our shops
because we know what time it is.
Speaker 5 (28:24):
What was Brian Flora's reaction, Did you guys look at
game film when when you have a situation like that,
lots to work on? Still no, no, no feeling of
satisfaction because you got a lot of work to get
ready for the Jets in London this week.
Speaker 9 (28:39):
Yeah. No, like, no doubt about it. We definitely uh
And I can speak for myself when I know a
couple other guys as well. Well. Honestly, collectively, we're treating
this like a loss. Honestly, I mean we we literally
were not happy about how we wanted to get this
past game. I mean, we we left so many players
out there, We messed up so many times on our end, uh,
you know, just a lot of stuff and flipped this stuff.
(29:01):
But I think that's one of the good things I
noticed about this team is that, you know, even when
we went really big or like this past thing, we
were pretty close where it shouldn't been because you know,
the score is isn't indicative of what really went down.
But we're really just going back to the drawing boarding,
you know, look at ourselves in the bear and understanding, hey, look,
what type of team do you want to be? You know,
we want to be a team that's you know, senator
(29:22):
at the at the final dance. You know, we got
to make sure that these things don't happen. A lot
of people are trying to ask, you know, how do
we go about this, you know, being four and O
or how do you deal with adversity when you always
up against opponents? And I'm like, well, I feel like
it shouldn't we shouldn't have to be playing from behind
or be in a situation where we have to be
down fourteen or most of the scores just to show
(29:43):
us that we're a good team. I mean, if we
handle our business in the front end and don't mess
our you know, mess our we had that was pretty
good going up. You know, I think that we we
could have put even more better score out there. I mean,
I think that score should have been. Honestly, my opinion,
shouldn't have scored. You know, we probably would have kept
going down the road and continue to score on our office.
(30:04):
So who knows how to score would have been if
we handle ourselves. But I think that's, like I said earlier,
that's the beauty of it knowing that we have a
pretty good team, because, like I said, know what's satisfied
about how we want it out?
Speaker 8 (30:14):
Hey, nardag I was going to ask you about the
two halves in which one sticks with you more, the
success of the first half or.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
The struggles of the second half.
Speaker 8 (30:25):
But I'm guessing your answer is the second half based
on the way you answered this last question. So in
a game where you have two starkly different halves, how
do you really absorb and break down and come apartmentalize
all that happened when you were so different in the
two And is there a one that you sort of
(30:47):
have to spend more time on the first half versus
the second half.
Speaker 9 (30:52):
Well, I think when we all knew the most point,
you know, SPEEDYO is back there, but I guess we
all knew Steed wasn't and taking a punt return and
who knows how long I think BT Powell had went down.
He took the big hits, so a lot of people
kind of asking questions in that aspect. So that was
a hell of a punt. Honestly, that kid booted the
(31:14):
ball too. The freaking moved so facing the sun, I
get it. You know, there's a lot of controversial stuff there,
but we stay behind the speed regardless. But you can
kind of say that moment there was kind of a
pivotal point. They gave the momentum because you know, they
didn't have any ports at all. They weren't going to
get any ports at all going into that half. But
you give them seven and it goes twenty eight seven.
You know, it kind of gives them some sort of light,
(31:35):
you know, And in the second half, we just had
to go back to the drawing board to understand. Listen,
teams are going to come back to the plays that
they got on us. You know, Green Bay had a
lot of chunk plays and that's what kind of showed
a lot of sort of lot on film in the
stat sheet because you know, it looks like they now
have been throwing them this all day and well most
of these huge i mean, the yardists came from big
chunks for gods, just running open where we had a
(31:57):
mental communication and the breakdown of the men communication break
down in the coverage, and you know, hats off to them.
I mean, like I said, there's still a great theme
over there as well, because there's still we still have
that talking about back we're in their home field and
we're up twenty eight seven. They're doing whatever it takes
at this point, so they're drawing up steams, drawn up
plays to try to explore us because they've had time.
(32:18):
We've been on the field multiple times at this point,
so they have pretty much a clear snapshot of what
we're trying to do a little bit while still trying
to guess on the fly. But yeah, we definitely want
to clear all of that up because we know, you know,
when we get to there and these these games against
better opponents, you know, just because there was you know,
very close that time, we had a couple plays ball
(32:38):
way at the end, so we kind of put it away.
Might not always be the case for that. So first
prepare and make sure that we clean up everything that
we gave up from huge chunks plays, knowing that team's
going to come back to that. That's gonna be a
huge key for us moving forward. So we can pretty
much keep that record. And you get so we want
to go at the end of the year.
Speaker 4 (32:54):
Hey, what was it like going back there and playing
with Aaron Jones knowing how much the their team and
fans love him.
Speaker 9 (33:03):
Yeah, we truly understand me. I truly understand it now,
just because to me, I've always watched there and from
since he's gotten in the league. One of my favorite
bats since I've gotten in the league. Uh, and to
see the impact he had on not just you know,
the staff support staff from Green Bay, but like I said,
the fans. I lively was expecting people to just be
(33:23):
like just straight bashing them, you know, calling them names,
this and that, and I'm pretty sure they probably weren't.
I didn't hear, but for what I've seen, man, it was.
It was amazing to see the fans still embrace them,
the coaching staff over there still in brasenom you know,
it's former teammates and stuff like that, just amount of
respect that he has. I knew it was gonna be
a great game for him, just because he was gonna
run with a vengein side like he always does anyways,
(33:45):
but I knew admit a lot more to him this
game as well, coming back home to you know, where
he's been for his whole career, honestly, so it was
a great start to see. But we definitely knew going
into that game that he was going to be able
to put some numbers up and help us get a
victory because we all know that he these capable of them.
We love aj here, so we truly understand now why
he was such a great not just a player, but
(34:06):
a great teammate, great friend for that organization. So I'm
glad to have him here though, because I'm watching BRN
against those boys, and listen, he's kicking into another gear
that I haven't even seen there at camp. So I'm glad.
I'm on the other side of that, instead of playing
against you.
Speaker 6 (34:20):
We're lucky to have him, no doubt, We're lucky to
have Jonathan Gernard as well. This is The Viking's report
on Campan, brought to you by our friends at HIV.
Getting ready to go to London as a player. Do
you like going there or is this just an added
aggravation to what is already a stressful NFL season.
Speaker 9 (34:36):
It's a little bit of both. I got my wife
and my sister that would be out there as well.
Coming out to that, you know, that'll be something obviously
after the football I expected, uh team care for that day.
I'll be able to go enjoy the city a little
bit with those with my family. But yeah, it's kind
of another place a game that could have been played here.
You know, I believe it is the home game, so
(34:57):
that's one less home game that we had at the Bank,
you know. So I know teams are definitely excited. I
know it's just definitely got to be sited about that.
But yeah, I mean it's cool. I mean, I definitely
like to switch up aspect, but I guess, but yeah,
I definitely had no problem playing this game in the
stakes for sure.
Speaker 5 (35:14):
We're only four games into the season, but the Vikings
are the only unbeaten team in the NFC. How how
does koc handle kind of the mindset of this football
team knowing there's a long long ways to go and
kind of keeping you guys on just focused on a
day to day basis.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (35:31):
I think the great thing about it around the locker room,
for what I see is that we kind of already know,
you know, we already understand that hey, before and onst
is something yet you can celebrate about. It's something that
we should be proud of. The you know, we've been
in some pretty good teams. However, we are not satisfied
in that locker room. I mean we're still having that
underdog mentality. I'm pretty sure again we've gone into this
(35:52):
year so far we've been the underdog, and I think
we love that. We love having that chip on our shore.
We love being that underdog because there's only a place
you can go is up. I mean, there's if you're
you're you're ready too high. I mean, people they have
all these things to say. We don't. We try not
to dig into that stuff because we understand what we
have within that locker room. But to know we have
them continue to believe that we can actually be who
(36:14):
we want to be. Just what's being preached about from
KOs and the Ko's He's he was hard on us
after this past game. I mean, he knew that there
there's so much more in the tank that we could
get to when we're playing. Obviously the scores are showing
up pretty good, but we know within ourselves and just
watching the film, like literally watching the film, that there's
another level that we all think to. And I think
(36:35):
that is where we're going to challenge ourselves moving forward,
no matter who we play, no matter what scheme do
we face, as long as we can see to just
do our jobs and play off style of ball, clean
up a little small things, you know, taking on ourselves
to hold each other accountable and hold ourselves to a
higher standard. That's that's that's what we're chasing after. I mean,
we all can see that on the film perspective outside,
(36:58):
you know, just hearing from Ko and other other players
around the league and this and that what we could
possibly do. But it doesn't matter, like I said, until
we go out there and see to put that on tape.
And I think that's where you're gonna see moving.
Speaker 6 (37:10):
Forward, Jonathan will let you go, but before I do,
any part of you sad that you completely missed the
big cat era of the Timberwolves.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
You got here too late to see what happened.
Speaker 9 (37:20):
Man, I'm very sad. However, I know they couldn't have
come great over there. We want to see how the
adjustment goes. But man, he was a great player. Of course,
he's definitely still gonna do amazing things in the league.
But uh, yeah, I'm excited to see what the new
with the new team's gonna look like them. I think
we got Randall. Uh was the Vincenzo as well. Yeah,
(37:40):
I'm excited. I'm ready to see what what what the
Wolves gonna do?
Speaker 3 (37:43):
For sure, Thanks very much, Sow, it's great to talk
to you. We'll see London, Thank.
Speaker 9 (37:46):
You, Thanks, thank y'all.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
I'll there you guys brought.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
You by our friends and Bescher and Spence. That was
Jonathan Gernard on care.
Speaker 5 (37:53):
Yeah, a lot of the players with Bill have family
members with them, which is unusual for any road trip,
but be able to go to London, uh as the
home team and so.
Speaker 6 (38:01):
Yeah, they'll have a little free time having The by
ride after is going to be interesting too. I think
it'll be a large percentage probably, you know, not a
large weekend. My point, we'll stay afterwards and hang around. Yeah,
why wouldn't you?
Speaker 5 (38:13):
Absolutely what, That's what I'm doing for sure, you have
to I'm not.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
They're kicking me right out of there.
Speaker 2 (38:18):
Yeah, yeah, Well he has to leave immediately.
Speaker 5 (38:20):
Well, there's probably a lot of reasons for Sugg.
Speaker 2 (38:22):
You have a seventy two hour Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
A lot of the country, certain parts of England, I'm
not allowed to. I like that guy.
Speaker 5 (38:30):
Man's right, not just a boy on the team, but
he's terrific guest every single week.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
He's got a hell of a motor.
Speaker 2 (38:38):
Why is he ever? He really does? That was quite
a pickup by Quasi. Yeah, he's great.
Speaker 8 (38:44):
I'm going to read you guys a text if I
could change directions quick. It's about it's about the Pete
Rose stuff. So I got a text from a friend
of mine who played in the big leagues for ten years,
mid nineties, mid two.
Speaker 3 (38:56):
Thousands that people Kirby Puckett not a Twins player. So
it's just interesting. Do it that what you will.
Speaker 8 (39:06):
But two things Pete Rose accepted a lifetime band from Baseball,
knowing that that would make him ineligible to be in
the Hall of Fame. It was Pete Rose's choice, which
should maybe tell people how serious the situation was or
how guilty he was.
Speaker 3 (39:25):
I don't know second at the time. So at the time,
Pete Rose was playing.
Speaker 8 (39:31):
The only rule in baseball that would get you in
serious trouble, I mean outside of like murder and stuff
like that, was betting on baseball. Everyone knew it, and
this is from a player. Everyone knew it, and everyone
knew the repercussions. Yet Pete Rose still did it, then
lied about it, and then accepted the lifetime band.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
So all the records still stand.
Speaker 8 (39:55):
He is a seventeen time All Star, he's the hits leader,
he's all the thing that Saus said, still considered.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
One of the best of all time.
Speaker 8 (40:02):
But apparently the Hall of Fame can't even allow him
to be voted in because he is banned for life
from the game, which is a penalty that he accepted
well himself, because I think that helped him avoid maybe
legal prosecution as well.
Speaker 3 (40:19):
Probably really, so it's not that simple. I don't know.
That's why I said.
Speaker 5 (40:24):
I think, well, the contradiction that I have with major
League Baseball, that's so much about Pete. I mean, that
explains it quite well. The steroid era where they were
hurting after the strike in ninety four, they were encouraging
and they didn't care. They looked the other way when
Bonds and SOA. Maguire and Sosa were going at it.
(40:46):
They knew damn well what was going on. And they
weren't there to help the players. They weren't there. They
were there to fill the stands. Again, so Baseball put
its head to sand over that entire episode, and it costs.
I mean again, it's self inflicted. For Barry Bonds was
a Hall of Fame player before he started taking steroids.
He's one of the best players I've ever seen. And
(41:09):
he'll never get in the Hall of Fame. And I'm
not saying it doesn't again responsibility, but Baseball was responsible
for that as well, and they need.
Speaker 3 (41:18):
Do you think he'll never get into you?
Speaker 2 (41:20):
I have.
Speaker 5 (41:21):
I mean, I don't know. I'm not saying ever, but
I think it's a lot harder. He doesn't even they
don't move the needle at all. No, I do not,
because I'm not part of the Baseball Writers Association.
Speaker 8 (41:30):
I wondered if that one might come around, if people
might change, right, I wonder if.
Speaker 5 (41:37):
That though, I mean getting closer to you know, I
don't see McGuire's or Bonds in particular, who is the
best player that maybe of his generation. I don't think
the votes are ever getting up to the point going God,
it's just so close. Then you get new blood coming
in every year and new guys that are going to be.
Speaker 3 (41:54):
In there, and you don't think it matters hockey just
in that. I mean, you know, so it's part of
going into the Hall of Fame. Is the fame right?
Speaker 2 (42:04):
You know?
Speaker 3 (42:05):
Yeah, but I hear where you come from.
Speaker 5 (42:06):
I am.
Speaker 9 (42:07):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (42:08):
They're all good arguments, you know.
Speaker 6 (42:09):
I was listening to I got to do it, one
of those things where I get hooked on something for
a while, So I listen to a bunch of thirty
for thirty podcasts.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
Oh it's the best, It's just the best.
Speaker 6 (42:18):
Ricky Henderson, the Ricky Henderson's great, And they did a
long one on what's the dude's name jose Canseco. Oh yeah, yeah,
my lord, I mean he was shooting people off left
and right, and you know, and then he told on everybody.
Speaker 3 (42:32):
We couldn't wait to sniss.
Speaker 2 (42:35):
You know the other part of it.
Speaker 5 (42:36):
We can have a whole discussion about this sometime and
how sports, not just baseball, have all embraced gambling.
Speaker 2 (42:42):
Yeah, it's part of what they are.
Speaker 5 (42:43):
You put on one of our game was on they
give you live odds during the game, during the broadcast. Yeah,
and you know, this is where we're at in society
right now. Where you know it used to be the
who thought Vegas would ever have a sports team? They
weren't allowed to because you can't gamble on them. My god,
that Pandora's box has been open and it's been and
here we are and so go ahead, bet shoot on
(43:07):
your phone and bet all you want.
Speaker 3 (43:08):
But that's Patrick bets, yeah, bets going.
Speaker 4 (43:13):
Speaking of Ricky Henderson, did you know he had fourteen
hundred stolen bases?
Speaker 3 (43:18):
You hear the craziest three that made him my.
Speaker 10 (43:24):
Favorite player was listening to that thirty for thirty because
he loves baseball maybe more than.
Speaker 2 (43:30):
Anyone in history.
Speaker 3 (43:31):
He couldn't quit. He literally couldn't quit. He was playing
the equivalent of town ball real quick.
