Speaker 1 (00:00):
Light snow and flurries today. Hi everybody, I hope you
got through the storm. OKM News eight Chief Meat around
Jay Gil Simmons. Cold today, upper teens to upper twenties,
on and off, snow showers, light snow coating the two inches.
It looks cold through the end of the week. And
let's watch the coming weekend. Get an update on the
News eight app.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
She didn't even know what he's talking about. Why do
we even hear those things? Hey, let's go to the
project hotline right now. Welcome to the show.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Oh damn, that guy was good.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
I was just talking about that guy. My man. I
hung on your every word this weekend. I did true story.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
And how are you feeling today? You're feeling like this
was no surprise?

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Yeah, well, I'll tell you what I just said a
few minutes. Boy, I don't know why you you would
be so bold as to say what. I latched onto
something you said yesterday and you were doing your thing,
you had gone live and you're like, you know, I'm
not worried too much about outages, and I don't know why,
but a calm settled over. I mean, I got the
gen I'd be good to go. But you said it,

(01:03):
and I'm like, if my man says so, then I'm
not going to order you about it. And I did.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
I am so glad, but holy no, aunt, did you
see some of these numbers?

Speaker 2 (01:14):
I did. I've been reading them off. I don't know
if if Hamden is accurate, it says only six inches
in Hamden, and we got I think we got pretty
more than that. But yeah, out our way about ten.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
You know. The issue is with some of those amounts
by the National Weather Service. Yes, they were. You have
to look at the time some of those, because I
saw the Hamden one. I believe that was like three
o'clock yesterday afternoon or something. They're old, okay, you know
what I mean. So they were measured early in the storm.
It wasn't much, but basically shoreline near ninety five it

(01:45):
was a ten to thirteen inch deal, and then as
you go into the rest of the state, we have
a lot of eighteen inch total.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
I know it.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
So this was this was a full flex storm, you
know what I mean. This was impressive.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, it was digging out this morning was no fun.
I'm looking at my kids cars, they're both buried, and
I'm thinking there's no fall coming our way right.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
No, and that is the thing on top of ben
you know what people need to know about because I
know a lot of your listeners right now have not
even been out.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Yes, but there.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
Were periods of fleet, those bouncing little bebes and ice
pellets during the overnight last night. That added a lot
of weight to the snow we got caught up and
all it's fluffy Dustye, this that is cold. This is
heavy stuff. When you get out there, please keep that

(02:39):
in mind. You'll break your back, you will, you know,
so you really got to consider that. You know. When
you're driving today, keep in mind a lot of sidewalks
are buried. They're probably going to be like that until May.
But there will be a lot of people walking in
the roadways they have nowhere to walk till. You have
to watch for that as well.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
And we got a little bit more coming today right
before we let you go.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Yeah, it looks on and off the Hallmark movie stuff.
Like here in our lot at the station, the vehicles
people that drove in like yours truly right here, my man,
vehicles are covered up again, you know what I mean.
So there is a tough thing to two inch possibility today.
All the way through early evening. Now, then you know
what I'm really worried about. When you know people are

(03:27):
struggling and they don't have the best heating system, or
people are cutting corners, they should never open the stove
for heat and things like that. I think this is
going to be a very high risk week for house
fires and people just in general being really cold. Not
to mention that carbon monoxide. Now, if you heat with propaane,

(03:51):
there's a vent on the side of your house, you
have to make sure the snow is removed from that.
I think this is going to be a very bad
week over for all because this cold weather. This could
be the coldest week of the winter here if you
add it all up and average it out. Yeah, not
to mention, I know we may have another one. Don't

(04:12):
do coming WEEKND. I mean, if I told you what
the European model has, you would end end the interview
right now, end my airtime right now. If I told
you what that European model has for Saturday night and
Sunday coming up, all.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Right, Well that's what I was just good. I don't
want that information. But you're saying it's a Saturday into
Sunday storm.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Yeah, but it's going to be going to adjust. We
have all week and right now then two of the
three models have anywhere between ten to fifteen inches.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Oh, this is a beast. Well, I appreciate you.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Are you still there?

Speaker 2 (04:49):
I would never hang up on News eight Chief, You
got it, Gilzevid's I mean, I appreciate you taking the
time this morning. I know you're busy, and thanks for
keeping us informed.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
But you know what, Vin, not only you with a heart,
but your listeners as well. I know your people. Okay, yeah,
just check on your friends and family and neighbors this week.
This is going to be a real test for people
that have a so so heating system. You know, let's
just make sure we're checking in and maybe are for
that help too. If your neighbor, you have an older neighbor,

(05:29):
they have a fire hydrant out front, shovel it out
to them because it may save their life, but it
could even save your life. You know, these hydrants are
very important to clean out.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Great tips, great stuff, Gil. I appreciate it, my man,
and we'll talk soon.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
I guess I'll talk to you in July. Bro.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
No, we'll be talking about this coming weekend, probably in
a couple of days. If they model you updated, absolutely
please please do
