Speaker 1 (00:00):
TJ. Hey, I appreciate you taking time to come out.
So it's TJ. Redding, the festival director, the organizer. We're
talking Shoreline Summer Fest. TJ. Are you from are you
like born and raised? You from the area? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (00:15):
I grew up in him in Connecticut. I live up
in Berlin.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
The brewery where this is taking place.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Armada Brewing.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Yeah, who's the owner Johnny Johnny Krazuski. What is it? Yes,
what's the last time? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (00:32):
I believe it's Krazuski.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
I did go to high school with his dad. I
remember when he opened the place. Yes, father told me
all about it. But listen, I'm all about I'm all
about Shoreline Summer Fest. It's right on Saturday, July twelfth.
Did you come up with some of the acts? I
told you? I just recently Park National just came through. Well,
that was a couple of months ago. Actually he played

(00:55):
at Cafe nine. That was a tremendous triple bill. And
he's fantastic. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
His his sound is really great. His new album that
he just put out is has been on com constant
repeat listen for me and my friends because we just
love it.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Did you get all that? Who lined up this talent,
and how are you spreading this is one day? Man,
it's going to be all day. There's a lot of
acts on this bill. Yep.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
So I put it all together myself, man. I booked
all the bands and figured out the schedule, and pretty
much everything comes out of me. I do it all
by myself, with just the assistance of Johnny a little bit.
And then I have another friend that helps me with
like communicating between the bands and stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
So now music, I would have maten what first acts
got to be going on? What? Noon?

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Eleven thirty eleven morning?

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Say, I'm pretty good man. That was a half hour off.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Pretty close.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Yeah, yeah, I don't know why you're not giving me
any love. I was pretty close right there, And I mean,
I don't know how you're pulling this off. It's all ages.
It's there's bear food, art, vendors, music, you know, everything
we love in these kind of events. I would imagine
our fingers are crossed for some good weather that day,
A nice Saturday, July twelfth. Again, you could go to

(02:15):
Shoreline Summerfest dot com and see you all about it.
What's the ticket price on it?

Speaker 2 (02:20):
It's only twenty five dollars, but the there's a three
dollars fee. However, local bands, if you go and look
at the lineup, all the local bands on the bill
are selling physical tickets, so they'll they'll come meet you
and give you an actual ticket to get in. And
it's only twenty five even.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Yeah, and tell me about like the you know, I
like to keep my finger. I was glad to see
Park National in there. I know a couple of the bands, Driveways,
cap Stand tell me, yep, what do we got there?
Who they like? Who do they signing?

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Yeah, so the easiest way to say would be the
are emo bands or pop punk bands. It's kind of
in the more punk leaning genre. But they're two. Driveways
is from Massachusetts. They're a pop punk band, sort of
in the vein of like Blink one eighty two, but
a little heavier.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
And then Capstan is from Florida. They're awesome. I just
got into them this year when I was looking for headliners.
I was listening to them and I really like the sound.
They're kind of a little bit heavier than that. So
part of this year was me trying to do somewhat
of a mixed bill to add a little bit more
range to the hopefully the attendance, and I know a

(03:41):
lot of bands in both kind of genres of being
able to put it all together kind of was reminiscent
of like Warped Tour when Warped Tour was still going around.
So that's been a huge inspiration for me going forward
with this every year.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Yeah, what do you mean every year? You've done this before?
Is this like the third annual? The fourth and I'm
just find it out? Oh?

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Really, yep, this is this is the fourth year, but
this is definitely like the first, really like legitimate year,
I would say, just having the last three years to
sort of build it up to what it has become.
I think last year's sort of worked out really well.
We had good weather and good bands and people showed up.

(04:21):
So I moved it over to Armada and oh, it's your.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
First time at Armado Okay, yeah, an Armada Brewing. It's
a great little spot in New Haven. I haven't been
down that area New Haven since the original brewery got
put up there, and I'm going back. Damn, that's got
to be the nineties, I think. When if I'm thinking
even the right area right fair Haven, I don't know
how well you know the.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Yeah, yeah, fair Haven over By. It's sort of on
the water pretty much.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
It is. It is, yeah, the Quinnipiac River. And I
remember when the original brewery got put up there. I
haven't been to Armada yet. I hear great things. This
is a great beer, yeah yeah, and this is a
great way to do it. I've got a nineteen year
old son. He's all about Midwest emo I want to
hit you with. And I love that he puts Midwest
in front of it because I'm like, dude, emo is emo.

(05:13):
You know, I go back. But he's turned me on.
I got to tell you what. He's turned me onto
a couple of really good bands. He's going to get
mad at me right now that I can't pull this out,
so you're gonna have to help me. TJ. It's like
dirt road, black something dirt road.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Oh, I don't know that one.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Come on, man, he's going to be so many black
country dirt road Have you never heard of them? No?
You got to check him out, dude. I think it's
an interesting thing with the genre that you're playing with
a lot right there. But that's you know, that's the
name of that band. They're already broken up. Is they're
really they break up just as it's starting to happen

(05:53):
for them.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Ah yeah, that hate when that happens.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Yeah, another one. He turned me on to his mom
jeans outstanding, I know them. Yeah outstay Then, well I
gave you another one to check out. I want to
check out. I mean, Driveways is new to me, Capstan
is new to me. Got scooped up, don't panic? Anthems.
I've actually I think I saw on a triple bill before,
already here in Connecticut. But it's just it's a monster lineup.

(06:20):
Are you doing the two stage thing or is it
just one at a time? You know, you get twenty minutes,
you get forty that kind of thing.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Yep, So I actually play in the band Anthems.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
That's I've seen you. Yeah that makes sense then, because
I would have seen you. Did you play Cafe nine?
We did? Yeah? Yeah, that's where I saw you. Okay,
that's interesting. Well I don't think it was with I
saw Nicky and the barn Boys. That's another Cape Cod band.
It's a Massachusetts band. Really good too. Yeah, I lose
track a lot of drink in TJ. You hang on

(06:53):
to that youth, my man, So you're in and also
a booker that much benefit you?

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Yeah, it does. Every now and then a pretty decent
artist will hit me up to come through and I
can throw us on if it works out, and yeah,
yeah it's Do.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
You book Do you book at a lot of different venues?
What are some of the venues you book at?

Speaker 2 (07:18):
I mostly just do like Cafe nine a little bit
of I haven't worked directly with them, but I've booked
at Cherry Street Station in Wallingford, the Sellers.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Well in Hampden. Yeah, great room.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Yeah, pretty much anywhere that has at least some sort
of local music and is willing to work with local promoters.
I've at least touched somewhat.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
I think this is this the actual name of one
of the band my cousin's girlfriend's house. That is that
is a great name for a band, man.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Yeah, they're a great band. They're one of my favorites
locally at least or regionally. They're from They're from Philly,
so they're coming up for that. But they're a smaller
band that used to share the same record label that
my old band was on.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
I got it. I gotta be I'm coming down. I
hope you know. I'm gonna pop in and check this
out with my son. Told him all about it. He
got fired up. But I gotta make it. What time
does my cousin's girlfriend's house, What time do they go on?
That's tremendous.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
So set times aren't determined yet, all right, but they
will come out, probably a couple of days before.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Okay. So, and I'll stay in touch with you too.
It's Shoreline Summerfest dot com for those of you who
want to stay on top of this. TJ Reading festival director.
Also in the band Anthems. What are you doing, Anthony
singer guitarist.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
I'm doing bass with some of the backup vocals.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Yep. I can't wait to check it out. Man. I
appreciate you taking the time to come on today, and
I'll see you at the event of course.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Sounds good. Thanks for having me

Speaker 1 (09:00):
My pleasure man,
