Speaker 1 (00:00):
Trader Joe's is opening hand and a grand opening this
morning at the new location. It's at the former home
of the La Fitness, right across from Marketplace. One shopper
break the coal to get first in line. I'm very
excited because my cars starting to come in and I
was like, I want to stand out in the cold,
but I'm like, it's worth it to be the first
person in line at Trader Joe's. Trader Joe's, that's happy,

(00:25):
that's local and closer. It's the eleventh Trader Joe's in Connecticut.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Trader Trader Joe's right down the street from us. I
had no idea, and I still don't know exactly. I mean,
I drive by skiff streets right around the corner. I
don't know which way you go home. Jim, it's not
in the Hampton Plaza. It doesn't help me to say
it's in the former home of a gym. That doesn't
it's in the former home of La Fitness doesn't help me.

(00:54):
I need to know what it's next door to. And
I love Trader Joe's. Are you aficionado? I'm a big fan.
It's a great score for for ham To Now wife
goes how shops. I don't know. I'm just I don't care.
Feel free to say, oh, I thought you were going
to say, it's uh, it's over, it's pricey. Yeah, it's over.
My wife likes to go there and get a few items.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
But number one, I never go shopping. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, oh really yeah, yeah, good produce though, really, you know,
real good produce. But yeah, the items that you get
that they're very avant garde and pricey. One of my Yeah, yeah,
but I don't know. I love it. I love their sticks,
you know, I can't really think of another way to
put it. There's Trader Joe ste eleventh in Connecticut. I

(01:40):
had no idea about this. Maybe I did, maybe it
was mentioned. There's you know, there's been so many different
businesses mentioned as coming to Hamden, which has been my
second home for thirty years now, just like I always
hear there's desustions business coming to Branford, which where I've
been living for the last dozen years, and you hear

(02:00):
and then they never eventually get they never get there,
and you're waiting, You're waiting, you're waiting. But I used
to have a gig some years back at this point
about fifteen years ago. That necessitated I worked a day
a week doing some radio in Milford. The studio is
in Milford, and I'd hit the Trader Joe's in Milford

(02:23):
on my way back, and I don't know what they're saying. Trader.
You know, somebody was quoted in this story as saying,
I'm so glad we've got one in Hamden, because if
I make the drive out to the Milford one, it's
always packed. It never doable for me. You know a
lot of fresh flowers too, fresh flowers, real fresh produce,

(02:47):
great meat. The steak you'll pay though. You pay for
the meat, and you pay for the frozen food. And
the frozen food is like really ambitious, like you know,
a truffle oil deep fried Aaronsini balls and there's like
four of them in a little box for like twenty
two dollars and it's some name brand. You're like, and

(03:11):
you know, you want to do something funny in a
Trader Joe's. Lift up a box or something, because it'll
be like Clan Clancy's bottom of the ocean and there's
some guy sitting there in a face like this, he's
got a you know, a monocle In his end, it's like,
I've never seen this brand before. You want to have
some fun, hold a box up at the Trader Joe's

(03:33):
and just go, you got a true value of these here?
Because I don't know, Clancy's at the bottom of the
sea and I don't really need him down there. I'm
still gonna hit it. But yeah, it's costly, but welcome
Trader Joe's to him, then excited about it.
