Speaker 1 (00:00):
It is Dave Ryan in the morning show. Dave is
out talking to Gary real quick. But we had a
ton of requests to hear the Elaine from Schwan's prank. Now,
I actually was not here for this, so I missed it.
But Bailey remembers hearing it live and laughing her ass.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
I do I remember it because it was like this
very convoluted prank that Fallin and Steve I believe, came
up with to prank Dave.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
And it was a multi day bit and I loved it.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
And you've never heard of, never heard talk about this.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
We're gonna go back into the archives here and give
you a little Elaine from Schwan's.
Speaker 5 (00:36):
Have you been up to anything else lately?
Speaker 6 (00:38):
Like?
Speaker 5 (00:38):
I don't know, I'm just wondering a weird question.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
I know.
Speaker 5 (00:42):
Well, I was just like, have you put him like
a penguin costume? Lately? Your penguin costumes?
Speaker 4 (00:46):
Are you talking to me? Are you talking to me?
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (00:49):
Say that question again? Have I done?
Speaker 5 (00:51):
Have you been in a penguin costume lately?
Speaker 7 (00:54):
A penguin costume? Why would you ask such a weirdo question? Yes,
I have been.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Here.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
How would you even know that I'm opinion.
Speaker 8 (01:06):
It's weird too. Why people steven't but you? You only
have a cat.
Speaker 5 (01:10):
I don't like.
Speaker 8 (01:11):
Kiss my dogs on the mouth. Do you like kiss
Josie on the mouth lately?
Speaker 3 (01:14):
Your dog?
Speaker 7 (01:16):
I think I know where you're going with this, but
I'm not sure exactly what the hell you're doing.
Speaker 8 (01:20):
I would like to direct your attention to Dave ryanshow
dot com. Dave, you want to go to Dave ryanshow
dot com.
Speaker 6 (01:28):
Or you could go to our Facebook fan pitch because
I'm I'm I'm clicking something right now.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Published people are probably.
Speaker 5 (01:34):
Like, going, what are What's going on? What's up with
Dave making out with his dog?
Speaker 8 (01:37):
And funny story three weeks ago Steve and I got together?
Speaker 4 (01:43):
Wait, okay, you're really confused.
Speaker 5 (01:46):
Yep, I easy to do. Tell me what Steve and
I catfished you?
Speaker 4 (01:50):
Yep. Because Dave's always like, now for it.
Speaker 7 (01:57):
Now I know what you're talking about, and I will
tell you the whole thing. Can I tell you the
whole thing? Seemed a little bit weird? Can I tell
you my side of the story before you get started?
Of course, somebody wrote me from an office and they
said I think they said they work at Schwan's.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
Yeah, Elaine from Schwan's was exactly.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
That was you.
Speaker 7 (02:21):
So you're telling me yep, so this listener Elaine from
schwan Yeah that's me, sends me an email and says, Dave,
we do a photo contest over each swan.
Speaker 8 (02:30):
I'm gonna read the full email I can that I
sent you.
Speaker 7 (02:34):
Dear Dave, you wrote this email. I thought it was
from a legit person name.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
That was the goal when we were catfishing you.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
Why do you do this? Because it's funny.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Everyone to see how we could get out of you,
and good god, did you deliver?
Speaker 6 (02:47):
Mom.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
I was like, he's not gonna do any of this.
Speaker 5 (02:49):
No, And like.
Speaker 8 (02:52):
Dear Dave, we have photo challenges and office games pretty
much every day at our office instead of working. And
every week when I post the results online, ask some
kind of silly poll question like who has the best
fast food burger? Or who's your all time favorite Viking?
Last week was who's your favorite Twin Cities DJ? Well,
(03:12):
you were overwhelmingly the winner with sixty four.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Percent of the vote.
Speaker 8 (03:15):
What I did there was I gave him a compliment
because I knew i'd realize.
Speaker 7 (03:18):
With So I got this letter about a month or
so ago, and it said, oh you are Yeah, you
won the poll for favorite DJ.
Speaker 8 (03:25):
So then I said, when I found out so many
people in our office listen to you, we decided to
send you this week's photo challenge to see if you
would do it.
Speaker 6 (03:33):
Uh huh, and Dave and I did.
Speaker 8 (03:38):
I did week ones photos.
Speaker 5 (03:43):
Okay, So this is like emotions.
Speaker 8 (03:45):
So we had him send we do three photos in
our Schwan's photo challenge.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
Can I can?
Speaker 7 (03:51):
I just jumping down and say this had nothing to
do with Schwan's. This was nobody, nobody that you don't
know anybody that works at Swan's that really does this.
This was absolutely totally fiction from start to beginning.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Guilty all right.
Speaker 8 (04:05):
So challenge number one no, was your surprise face?
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Yep, totally normal, Okay, I did. I took a picture
of my surprise which how.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Surprise do you look?
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Number two? Number two was a.
Speaker 8 (04:18):
Poudy Oh wait, No, number two was about to sneeze okay.
Speaker 5 (04:23):
And number three was pouty.
Speaker 7 (04:26):
So this is what I did. I thought, well, this
is very sweet from the people over Schwan's. They want
me to be part of their show photo challenge. So
I thought, well, what's the harm. I'm going to take
three quick pictures send them in. So here's what happens.
I'm going to get ahead of you in the story. Here,
guess who won the photo challenge over is Schwan's.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
You did?
Speaker 4 (04:44):
I did? Yeah, then you won.
Speaker 5 (04:45):
They invited you back for a second week.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Wow. Now here's the thing.
Speaker 7 (04:49):
I was thrilled to think that I actually won the
photo challenge over is Schwan's. It's still hard to wrap
my head around because I keep wanting to say, you guys,
but I won the photos. Yeah, because I was the
only one that entered.
Speaker 8 (05:02):
Yeah, because I'm not a lane from Schwan's. I catfished you.
So next week, I told him that we would like
a photo of him.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
Kissing his pet, which I did, Which I did. I
took several flexing his muscle of the parent that's my
favorite one.
Speaker 8 (05:19):
And finally a photo of him eating and he's hammering
a mouthful of popcorn.
Speaker 5 (05:24):
And I thought, Steve and I we talked about this, We're.
Speaker 8 (05:27):
Like, Okay, there's no way we're going to get more
than this because Dave always like.
Speaker 5 (05:29):
I'm too boozoo, I'm not doing that, blah blah blah.
Speaker 7 (05:32):
I was very flattered that the people from Schwan's even
cared enough about our show that they wanted me to
enter their contest.
Speaker 8 (05:39):
And can you believe it, Dave won for a second
week in a row.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
That I was so excited. Wow, two weeks in a row.
Speaker 6 (05:45):
He won fallon so I couldn't ignore Thirques.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
And this is where we really tested what we could
get out of.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
Are you on periscope now, Mike pass? So the final week?
Speaker 3 (05:59):
Oh yeah, if.
Speaker 5 (06:02):
You will at the photo, you can go to Dave
ryanshow dot com.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
You can see him right there.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
Set of challenge.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Oh, I know what it is, the penguin.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Suit looking sexy on the hood of your car.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
So I laid on the hood of my car and
I took a picture. It's a It was horrible.
Speaker 5 (06:21):
You can't tell you on a car.
Speaker 8 (06:22):
I was hoping for more white snake, but we got
Dave Ryan.
Speaker 6 (06:26):
We should text. What is catfishing?
Speaker 8 (06:29):
That's when you like, you tell someone online you're someone
else basically, and you can someone else.
Speaker 7 (06:34):
Okay, so these two, if you just joined us, I
thought I was getting emails from Schwan's and a Lanes
like hey, Dave, we love you over here. Enter our
weekly photo challenge, take a picture of yourself about to sneeze.
Take a picture of yourself looking surprised. So I did,
and then she said I won. So then third week,
I do remember bending over looking at the camera between
my legs.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
So what I'm on right now? It's bent over, cheek spread. Okay,
they're not either. Josie is there of course, of course.
Speaker 8 (07:02):
And the final photo, which was just the icing on
the catfish cake, was we just said to.
Speaker 5 (07:09):
Put on a Halloween costume and he delivered.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
Oh yeah he did. As a bit, he found his
penguin the biggest we got.
Speaker 6 (07:18):
One of our listeners, Lamau said best bit ever that
just texted said that.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
Okay, that's not Lamo, that's an l m A. Oh
you idiot.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
You are an idiot.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
Okay, you are an idiot. It's not.
Speaker 6 (07:32):
Yeah, she's one of our mong listeners. I met her
on Booty Curts the other day. That is so soone said,
O MG, you guys are hilarious.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
Is that funny? Thank you? This is Dave is all
getting red in the food? Can I tell you?
Speaker 7 (07:45):
I thought it was very sweet that they would include
me on this one. And I want to give a
shout out to Elaine and everybody over to Schwan.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
Hey that I seem to read some text messages we're getting,
did we?
Speaker 8 (08:00):
I just wanted to say thank you for participating in
our photo challenge photo event each week.
Speaker 5 (08:03):
We do love you over here at Schwan signed.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
A lay.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
Okay, not funny, funny.
Speaker 8 (08:11):
Let's see, humans are the cheapest, easiest form of entertainment.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
Suck it up, Dave Well, I do.
Speaker 6 (08:17):
Ah, that's so abusive, but so awesome at the same time,
I'd super funny. Almost chucked on my breakfast. Yes, yeah,
you didn't hear what these two did. Let me see
if I because there's my version of the story and
then there's the real version of the story. Yes, I
got an email a month or so ago from Schwan's
and a woman who worked to Schwan's named Elaine, and
I'm because Schwan's is located here in the Twin Cities.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
I'm gonna guess corporate headquarters.
Speaker 7 (08:38):
They had like a big you know, she said, we
do nothing but would screw around all day. So we
do a photo challenge and we listen to your show.
We did a kind of a poll that said who's
your favorite Twin cities, DJ, well, dave you one. I thought, oh,
that's very sweet, that's very nice. And so they said,
we do a photo challenge every week. We'd like to
see if you want to be in our photo challenge.
So if you do, take a picture of yourself looking surprised,
(09:00):
take a picture of yourself a doctor sneeze, and take
a picture of yourself looking at pouty. So I'm like, i' man,
sure they listened to the show. I'm flattered they want.
So I sent my pictures back to a lane and
it turned out, oh my god, I won.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
Oh my god, and I won the photo challenge.
Speaker 7 (09:15):
So then she said, here's our next week of photo challenges,
kiss your dog eat, And then I forget what the
other one was.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
I won the next week too, in a row date.
Speaker 7 (09:25):
So the third week was take a picture of yourself
in a Halloween costume, bending over, looking at your camera
the camera between your legs, and I don't remember what
the last one was. Car So I didn't hear back
from her, and I thought, oh, well, maybe she's lost
interest whatever. This morning, I'm going off about something important
and these two over here start cackling and they're like, uh,
(09:45):
you remember taking a picture of you in a penguin costume,
and I'm like, yeah, why you remember.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
Picking a picture you kissing your dog Josey? Yeah? Why
oh you remember a picture eating pup court? Yeah, noody.
There's nobody named Elane.
Speaker 8 (09:59):
It the photo galleries at Dave ryanshow dot com.
Speaker 7 (10:03):
So what I did is I sent the pictures to
who I thought was a Lane, and it turned out
that it was you. I should have realized, you know what,
it just realized it was a laying something at Gmail.
It wasn't at a I should have realized two idiots
made a mail account.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
The idiot. Yeah, that's like you've been catfish.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
I've been catfish.
Speaker 7 (10:27):
That's like taking advantage of somebody, taking advantage of their
kind heart, taking care of taking advantage of this body's
kind heart, and good sportsmanship, sportsmanship, sports I will hand
it to you.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
It was very funny.
Speaker 9 (10:42):
Thank you.
Speaker 7 (10:43):
But just wait, because you thought it was bad when
I got in bed naked and rubbed your sheets and
my butt crack. You thought that was that was till
this is what's going to happen next. Steve and I
are going to get naked in your bed and make
love in your bed.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Why are you putting at me?
Speaker 5 (10:58):
Why you and I do something to see you and
I will get into.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
If you get a chance. I regret my decision. Can
I do a shout out? Real quick?
Speaker 6 (11:06):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (11:06):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (11:06):
Please again? No, it's okay.
Speaker 6 (11:12):
I like to thank you Ryan. He has already turned
Dave Ryan into a meme. If you go to the
Dave Ryan fan page already there's a meme that Ryan
posted and I just posted it like a so everyone
can see it.
Speaker 4 (11:25):
Let me see this Dave Ryan's show on Facebook.
Speaker 6 (11:28):
If you'd like to see it. I'll also put it
up a'll tweet a link. Chat fishing the best way
to catch a penguin? Okay, okay, I am embarrassed. But
see one of the photo challenges from a fictionally laying
over his schwan's was Danny, send us a picture of
you at a Halloween costume. I want to tell you,
(11:48):
probably an hour downstairs going through Halloween costumes. And I'm
gonna tell you, when you go through Halloween costumes, you
never find any entire costumes.
Speaker 7 (11:57):
You put them in pieces. You find them in pieces.
I looked for an hour before I found all of
that penguin costume and look.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
Out during my feet.
Speaker 7 (12:06):
I wore that Halloween costume downtown a few years ago
and the feat are filthy and I should.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
Have thrown it away. I love that, but instead I
took a picture. Ryan. You know what you can do?
You can? You can? You can? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (12:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (12:22):
So so guys, laugh it up, enjoy it, enjoy it.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
One you please play the audio of Dave Saint hell yeah, pimpin.
Someone requested it.
Speaker 8 (12:30):
The funniest part is that any random person could have
done this and Dave would have gone along with it.
Someone said, super funny. I almost took my breakfast when
Steve said.
Speaker 5 (12:40):
L m a O.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Hell yeah, pampin.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
Here it is, can you do?
Speaker 4 (12:45):
You know that's on dubsmash.
Speaker 7 (12:47):
Now you can go on dub smash and you can
actually make a video of yourself saying hell yeah, pimp
and had.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
A bunch of other stuff too, like the Hollister saw
there too. Yeah yeah.
Speaker 6 (12:56):
If you've if you click on the Dave Ryan Show page,
I know there's like Twitter, you can just search for it.
Speaker 7 (13:01):
Hell yeah, pampining catfish.
Speaker 4 (13:06):
Why did you two are the laziest people in the world?
Speaker 3 (13:09):
Yeah, we do, was in an email.
Speaker 7 (13:11):
Why what made you think that this is a very clever,
creative idea. What made you think to even do something
like this? Because you two are not creative.
Speaker 8 (13:23):
Do you want to know the You may say the
real reason?
Speaker 5 (13:26):
Sure, because something similar happened to me.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
Are you serious? But from op you didn't fall forward?
Did you fall for it?
Speaker 8 (13:33):
I fell for it the first time, and I think
it was someone with like a foot fetish and it
was really creepy.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
No, seriously, what happened.
Speaker 4 (13:40):
What happened?
Speaker 8 (13:41):
It was I took the exact situation and put it
into email for you because I was.
Speaker 5 (13:45):
After it happened to me. I was like, oh my god,
we can totally pranked day with this.
Speaker 8 (13:49):
Some guy pulled the same bit where he said he
worked at a company and they did this poll like
seventy five percent people liked me. So I was super flattered.
And he was like, he was like, send a photo
of what's the right of use of a photo?
Speaker 3 (14:00):
What's to the left of you?
Speaker 8 (14:01):
Now it's in a photo of your feet, like but
from like shooting toward me where you can see that
it's me. And so I did, and I was like, oh,
I'm so flattered.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Here at the photos.
Speaker 5 (14:11):
Thanks for including me.
Speaker 8 (14:11):
He's like, oh my god, my coworkers are freaking out.
We're so excited you did this. And I was like, ha,
thanks for including me. Hopefully hopefully you're not some guy
with just a foot fetish. And then he was like, hah,
you know, but seriously, we're going to do a second round.
Speaker 5 (14:23):
And he asked like three different.
Speaker 8 (14:25):
Shots on my feet and I and then I was like, Okay,
this guy's a legit creep, so I maybe he wasn't, but.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
For three more photos of your he.
Speaker 8 (14:35):
Described like perfect angles of how he wanted them, so
I didn't email them back ever again. So that's where
I got the idea to do it to you.
Speaker 7 (14:45):
So you almost got catfish too, Yeah, smarter than me.
Yours was like gross and creepy. Mine was like, this
is fun. It's like I've been.
Speaker 5 (14:55):
Over between your legs and look through them.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
That's not normal.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
You're weirdo. But you drop, Jenny, You're like throwing around
over here. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
I was just trying to adjust some things real quickly,
and then you got it all set so I didn't
need to.
Speaker 4 (15:08):
You got a phone.
Speaker 7 (15:08):
You got that otter box on your phone so it
doesn't crack when you drop it on the side.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
No, if you took the case off of my phone,
you would see how bad my phone is doing. There
is so many cracks on the back. It's pretty bad.
I dropped this thing all the time and it's still
still thrive. I gotta bede fun of in Bali because
I have one. It's like three years old now. Yeah,
and apparently there's a new like jack for what you
use for a charger.
Speaker 4 (15:29):
Yeah, you use the it's a USBC now, I think.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
Wow, I didn't know that that they did, like a
new one to charge your phone, the lightning port. So
then everyone in their mom was making fun of me
when I needed a charger one night, and I did.
None of them had an older iPhone and it's not
even old like two and a half three years.
Speaker 9 (15:45):
Remember the thing was you still have a button on
your phone that was when it was got old.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
Or you have an headphone jack. Yeah, get it together,
a headphone jack. Wow, I need you too, I know
what you mean. All right. It is kd WB on
the Day Bryan Show.
Speaker 7 (15:59):
We're kind of like we replayed the Schwan's bit, which
was like a classic that that people actually had called
in for we'll do some replays, you know, maybe somewhere
through that. The show today tomorrow is live from Mall
of America, and we're super excited about that.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
One.
Speaker 7 (16:14):
Shout out to t Rex Cookies coming by with about
two hundred cookies.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
They keep dreaming about those cookies.
Speaker 4 (16:19):
Oh they're so good.
Speaker 7 (16:19):
You get a chance, and they're up at the airport,
they're up at like ball games. Stop by the t
Rex Cookie booth because they are like no cookie you've
ever had, and they're huge, giant, they're huge.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
I get one at like every brewery because they have
those pretzels, and then they have t Rex Cookies and
I'm like, well, time for a monster cook Yeah.
Speaker 6 (16:36):
Sure is.
Speaker 7 (16:37):
We'll be there tomorrow from six until ten with everybody
who is ever on The Dave Ryan Show.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
And I've got a list here.
Speaker 7 (16:42):
Bailey wrote it down with dead, I won't forget anybody
leave All's Viake, Extreme, Jamie, Angie Taylor, Corey Foley Wilson,
in Turn, John, Lena, Fallon, Steve and then you wrote
down Chris Goo yeah, and then.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
You raised it because no, I ran out of ink my.
Speaker 7 (16:59):
Ink, Okay, gotcha, And we'll have Chris go on the
phone tomorrow, and I think he said he's gonna show
up aroun nine o'clock. Fab fabulous, join usmall of America tomorrow.
We're gonna have some fun, some games. We're gonna do
a Dave Ryan roast. Have you guys been working on
your roast jokes?
Speaker 3 (17:15):
I've got one joke today, but we don't have a
lot of time.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
There's gonna be all of those people you just read
are also preparing roasts.
Speaker 9 (17:23):
I think I was telling this to Jenny a little
while ago. I'm nervous because you know, we have people
to impress, right These are like the big the big
wigs of the Dave Ryan Show big leagues. But at
the same time, I think there will be people that
are worse than us, but worse than.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
Me at least.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Do you want me to put together a lineup of
who I think should go one? Because I think I
should go first so I can get it over with.
Speaker 7 (17:43):
Okay, if you want to go first, who do you
think is going to be the funniest Steve? Steve will
be the most bombastic, and by that I mean he'll
say something that's over the top of.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
It'll be shocking.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
I would say it would be because I don't know
some of these people well enough to know their humor.
I think it would be a toss up between Fallon
and Lena because those I both. I've been able to
work with both of them, and they're both so so funny,
but very different senses of humor.
Speaker 7 (18:11):
Corey Foley also very funny and intern John actually does
stand up, and that kid will be merciless.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Don't put me up after somebody who's funny.
Speaker 7 (18:20):
No, you don't want to follow somebody who's really good. Yeah,
I'll put you right after Jenny. That'll be tomorrow, and
that'll probably be sometime around seven point thirty or so.
Love to have you down there. Are we live streaming
this tomorrow? Vaunt still working on it. You'll find out.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
I'm working hard on a lot of stuff behind the scenes.
Speaker 9 (18:39):
Yeah, because see the thing is we have if we
live stream tomorrow, let's just be transparent, right, We have
to use these old cameras in the old studio, from
the old studio where, if you remember, they are garbage
compared to what we're using now.
Speaker 7 (18:50):
So somebody will set those up for us to use.
We can't just point to obviously think it as simple
as point in your camera phone at the at the
at the broadcast.
Speaker 9 (18:58):
But then how we but then from the radio to that,
so it's a whole I have a meeting later.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
If anything, we could probably just do a Facebook live
if anything.
Speaker 9 (19:08):
But then again, how are you streaming the audio from
the station?
Speaker 1 (19:10):
I think we just put it. We don't really need
to stream the audio. It's not gonna be the end
of the world if we're not directly streaming it through that.
If we just stream it through what's live happening, well.
Speaker 7 (19:19):
Let me let me use that as a sales point.
Don't count on it, Okay, So then make make make
an effort to come down. I'd love to see you
down and also be on the radio. Of course it'll
be on the radio. I think people are confused about that.
Speaker 9 (19:29):
We'll still be doing the show the same way you're
hearing it now, but just from ma.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
So y'all just hear it tomorrow five, no six until ten.
Speaker 7 (19:37):
I've got a bunch of copies of my book Little
Dave's Amazing Day that we're just gonna be handing out
and also bringing along some clip a dude surprises, you know,
because we're gonna do like trivia games and stuff like
that with people in the audience and have some fun
that way. So come down and win some stuff, bring
your kids, take some pictures, and we'll see you down
there tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (19:53):
At one point three KDWBD.
Speaker 6 (20:03):
Two.
Speaker 7 (20:06):
So you've heard stories about the side hustles where people
try to make extra money from flipping homes or finding
and reselling vintage items or buying storage units and don't
know what's in them, But this is a new one.
There's an article about a couple of friends who go
dumpster diving around college campuses. The idea is that as
students move out for the year, like around now, they're
(20:27):
ditching valuable stuff like furniture, clothing, electronics, and appliances. Do
you think that's true? O, I'll.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Drive by any college campus around May and people will
have their entire dorm setup just sitting.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
By the dumpsters.
Speaker 4 (20:41):
Are you serious?
Speaker 2 (20:42):
And then I think those people are made of money?
How are you just throwing that all the way?
Speaker 9 (20:47):
My junior year, I think I threw out my deep
fryer and my my iron just cause I just didn't
feel like carrying.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
It back home.
Speaker 7 (20:53):
And they say some stuff might have been in their
dorm rooms for less than a year, and it makes
sense especially at expensive colleges where rich kids are leaving
their old stuff behind.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
Exactly.
Speaker 7 (21:04):
These two friends say they're making a good living doing
it and have even funded vacations by finding, organizing, and
cleaning the trash and then reselling it. And they don't
even need to buy a lot of cleaning supplies because
there's another thing that students are just tossing out from
their dorms and apartments, and that is cleaning stuff. One
of them says, every day is like Christmas morning. It's
(21:25):
a really fun hobby that's definitely changed our lives. It
feels good to note that we save something, given it
a second life, and giving it. They're selling it to
people who really need it. I guess that's true. Yeah,
you know, you don't want like everything going in a landfill,
because we're feeling up landfills like crazy.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
That's what gets me about it is that they leave
like a bed frame, and they leave a dresser or
whatever sitting by a dumpster.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
You know that's going to a landfill.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
Why don't you be a better person and bring it
to freaking goodwill?
Speaker 3 (21:53):
Yeah, jeez, Louise.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
But Goodwill doesn't always take all that stuff. A lot
of that stuff you have to actually pay to like
get rid of it. That's why these college students are
doing it. And I'm not justifying it. I'm just saying
that a lot of things Goodwill doesn't take.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Throw it on a Facebook marketplace some That's what I
was going to say.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
You know, I don't even remotely throw anything out. I
sell things that I've gotten for free off the side
of the road.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (22:16):
See, you have a house now, though you're okay with
sitting with it. These people have deadlines that they have
to be out at the dorms.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
O care, There'll be more on top of it, all right,
start selling your crap two months before you're getting out
of the door.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
I'm on Tristan.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
Yeah, I'm looking Tristan.
Speaker 7 (22:28):
I'm looking on your Facebook marketplace and Jenny is selling
a dirty paper plate.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
Yeah and five offers already.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
Okay.
Speaker 7 (22:35):
I mean, I guess you can still get some use
out of it, like dirty paper plate.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
All right. That is, you can't make this stuff up.
Speaker 7 (22:41):
It is brought to you by the Leo Agency Choose
Leo dot com. Speaking of my book, Little Dave's amazing day.
I'm doing this every day.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
Call us.
Speaker 7 (22:49):
If you work at a daycare or a children's clinic
and you've got an audience or kids like two to
five years old, that is the target demographic for my book.
I would love to have delivery service. My wife Susan
drive by and drop off a box of books. So
if you want to call me, tell us where your
daycare is or where your children's clinic or whatever is,
(23:11):
and Susan will do her best to drive it by.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
And she's got a limited radius.
Speaker 7 (23:15):
I mean, we're living victorious, so if you were in
Hudson or Amory, probably not going to drive it all
the way over there.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
No disrespect intended, it just.
Speaker 7 (23:22):
You know, we got to keep it kind of like
you know Western suburbs, northern it for free. Yeah, so,
but we'd love to get one to you. A box
of books. There's like twenty of them. You can save
them for your kid's library, hand them out to parents
or kids is a little reward, or just hand them
out on a like an open house or whatever you
want to do. And we would love to get that
to you. Call me at six' five one nine eight
(23:43):
