their dad advice questions. So you can do that on

So this one says, Rebecca says, I'm close to being
an empty nester. What do you wish you had done
with your kids for a vacation and what was your

Ooh man, there was nothing that I wish those spoiled
kids didn't have that they already got. They went to
the Black Hills, they went to Hawaii, they went to like,
I don't know, Florida, Orlando, Disney, those spoiled kids.

The only thing about an empty nester is it's sad
for you, but it's so exciting for them. And remember,
you're really sad. But once you realize it ain't about you,
and how happy they are to go off to college
and you know, start, you know, their whole life, then
it it made it a little bit easier with Carson
because it was exciting for him, and I was thinking
only about how sad it was for me.

Honestly, the Black Hills by all the places we had,
but it's great. I need to take one back. Japan
was better than the Black Hills. Yeah, by a little

your kids during today's world with technology, what advice would
you give to yourself?

Don't ask me.

I wouldn't know, because my kids kind of missed the
social media thing a little bit. Alison didn't deal with it.
Carson dealt with it. Somebody was never really into social media.
He was into Snapchat, him and his Adobe buddies. Yeah,
they had like a nerf war chat group, a nerve
nerve war.

Yeah, because they stupid high school kids.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
They take around nerf guns and they shoot at each
other and you know, blah blah blah. So I would say,
ask somebody younger, because I wouldn't know. I wouldn't know.
I would say, well, do your best to keep them off,
but good luck.

Okay, here's more kind of a life advice not necessarily
dad advice, but Jamie Joe says, break it down for us, Dave,
what should someone actually be focusing on in their twenty thirties, forties,
fifties and sixties to keep leveling up and becoming a stronger,
wiser version of themselves.

Like that, but I don't know, well, and then they
can finish.

It wiser version of themselves over time, like you, well
you everyone and their mom's like he's just like my dad. Okay,

I think that you have to build a foundation of
your life, and that is by you know, people don't
want to hear it, but you got to work, and
you got to work, and you gotta work, and yeah,
you're going to have like a little work life balance.
But if you're thinking of a perfect worth of work
life balance and you want to have a life that's
worth talking about, then it ain't going to be a
perfect work life balance. You got to work. You got
to build that foundation. You got to like get ahead
of some of the other stragglers in your career, which

All you got to do to get ahead is work.
Harder than the ninety percent of people who are like
I've got to have a perfect work life balance.

That's a tough one. I never had that problem I had.

I had a very ambitious eighteen year old that would
go back and forth from college.

I don't have an answer for that one.

I mean, briefly off and on.

I think, but I think she got her own place
with Justin pretty much right out of college. I don't
exactly remember, but that's a challenge because you know, I
don't know. I think that you got to start him
way before eighteen to figure that out. But I know
some other parents that are wonderful parents that are my age.
I got a friend who's got a son that's twenty
five years old and he's still kind of living at
home and he works, you know, works at a bar,
and she's like, when are you gonna get off your

ass and do something? I say him, sign up for
the Marine Corps. Sign up for the Marine Corps. That's
a branch that will get you ass into shape.

I have a daughter that's gonna graduate high school in
a couple of weeks, and I was just wondering how
you cope with that, because I'm.

Having a really, really hard time with it.

It is so hard, and it was so hard for me.
Everything during Carson's senior year, I was like, here's his
last homecoming, here's his last prom, here's his last band concert.
And I was so sad. Because that was my last one,
and he's my boy. He's a baby, he's my baby boy.
And then going back to what I said five minutes ago,

once you realize that they're so happy and they're so
excited it, it kind of changes your mindset. You look
at it from a different perspective, and then it made
it a ton easier.
