Speaker 1 (00:00):
Are time for rock news on one oh one one
Double JRI, Orlando's rock stations. Let's check out with Lynch
Hintaco and see which rockers are making the headlines for
all the right and wrong reasons. One O one one
Double JRIR.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
They're right if you're a U two fan. The band
will release Street of Dreams, the first single off their
new album, today at noon, so I'm just giving you
the heads up on that if you want add it
to the collection. Black Sabbath. Yes, all of the members
(00:38):
have at some point, you know, written memoirs about the
time they spend in Black Sabbath. But for the first time,
the entire band, including drummer Bill Ward in the late Ozzy,
have all collaborated on an official book, Black Sabbath the
Masters of Reality. This is going to be a new
photo book assembled by the band's longtime photographer Russ Halfen
(00:59):
with input from all the members of the band. Will
be coming out in October. There'll be several different editions
of this. The standard edition one hundred and thirty four bucks.
There's a super Deluxe signed edition they'll just be three
hundred of those available, and then the Super Deluxe Signed
Metal edition just two hundred copies of that will exist.
(01:19):
It's a five hundred page book featuring photos from Halfin's
archives along with new essays. So that might be something
to keep in mind for the Sabbath fan as we
get later in the year and into the holiday season.
On a Sabbath related note, Metallica marked one year since
the late Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath played their final
(01:41):
ever show. This past weekend was the one year anniversary
of the Back to the Beginning and Metallica is in England.
We're doing shows and that night, during the segment of
the show where Kirk and Rob doodle they just kind
of improvise and usually play a tune and cover a
song from an artist from the city where they're performing.
Trillo told the audience a year ago was a very
(02:04):
important event. Back to the Beginning, Black Sabbath and so
many other people. Someone just gave me this right now
and it's pretty powerful. Then Rob held up a sign
that said do it Forrozzy. Hey, he said, Ozzie, we
love you, we miss you, brother. So let's do this.
Let's figure it out. It's a mashup of our two
favorite bands, and you're gonna get it in a minute,
then played a mashup of Black Sabbath's Electric Funeral with
(02:28):
the Sex Pistols Holiday in the Sun. Yes, there's YouTube
video of that's at the end product if you want
to check that out for yourself. Well, it'll be a
test of sorts for one John bon Jovi as he
and his band will start the first of nine shows
at Madison Square Guarded in New York tonight, followed by
(02:49):
five dates in the UK from late August into September,
and it'll be the band's first tour since twenty twenty two,
when his vocal chords gave out and he underwent surgery
the same year. Bon Jovi says he feels great. I
mean we're literally well past fifty songs that are show
ready at this point. You know. The thing about my
show is I like to change up the set quite
(03:10):
a bit, and we're well rehearsed and ready to go,
and we'll see what happens. I guess we will. Smashing
Pumpkins celebrated America's two hundred and fiftieth birthday. They marked
the occasion with the performance at America's Block Party That
was the Deal at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday.
(03:31):
They performed six songs, including nineteen seventy nine, Tonight, Tonight Today,
and several others. Tickets for the show benefited America's two
hundred and fifties to America two Fifties Giving fourth initiative,
and We're just seventeen dollars and seventy six cents and
lots of free tickets are given out to veteran service
members and first responders, So that video is available if
(03:54):
you want to check that out as well. From fourth
of July over the weekend, Motley Crewe, who this summer
will be kicking into their return of the Carnival of
Sins tour, have a couple of other dates not related
to that tour, one of which was this past weekend
at Rock and Thunder in Winnipeg, Canada, Little Festival. There,
(04:14):
Crewe delighted Crewe fans by playing several tunes that they
haven't played in years, haven't played live in years. They
played Red Hot, Louder than Hell, too Young to Fall
in Love, and take Me to the Top for the
first time in years. And I don't know, is this
maybe foreshadowing of what's to come when they get those
full dates rolling with the return of the Carnival of Sins.
(04:36):
I Hope, So, I Hope so Evan Essences Bring Me
to Life is still their most popular track, recently certified
Diamond by moving eleven million units, which is that is unbelievable.
Amy Lee says part of the song that bothered her
back then is now a highlight. It shows you know
(04:57):
what I'm about to say, right. She wasn't really down
in the beginning, with her label forcing the band to
have Paul McCoy from Twelve Stones do the rap vocal
part on the track. She was I was so worried
that the first song being a collaboration because I wanted
to I wanted people to understand this, and I was
so worried that it would create confusion as to what
(05:19):
we were all about. But all those things that worried
me now are cool perks now and it's a built
in part of the show where the audience sings that
part live when they perform. The Dicky Betts Memorial Highway
I stretch of US forty one in Sarasota County, where
he lived, was officially dedicated this past week. His son
(05:42):
Dwayne posted a photo on Instagram of the sign, saying
so proud of you, Dad, A little piece of Highway
forty one in your honor. Thanks to all at the
local and state level who made it happen. Dicky Betts,
of course, the late Almond Brothers guitarist and co founder
of the Almond Brothers band, died of cancer and chronic
obstruct active pulmonary disease back in April of twenty twenty
(06:03):
four at the age of eighty and one final note here,
I want to give a credit for credit to due this.
This is impressive by any musician. British musician and former
One Direction band member Harry Styles has set a Guinness
World record for the longest run of concerts at London's
(06:25):
historic Wembley Stadium. That is a huge stadium. He was
quite emotional this past Saturday night after a twelve date
sold out run. Twelve dates selling out Wembley Stadium. Amazing, amazing.
(06:48):
All right, there's some of your rock and music news
in general for this week.
