Urinary incontinence is the accidental release of urine triggered by a cough, laugh or sneeze, during exercise, or not getting to the bathroom in time. While UI is not a major health problem, it can cause significant embarrassment and limit a person’s ability to enjoy favorite activies. Women are affected nearly twice as often as men by UI. Rhonda Walsh, M.D. Summit Medical Group urologist, discusses the types, causes and treatment for urinary incontinence, paying special attention to the needs of women with this condition.
