Light is one of the biggest problems for people in terms of getting proper sleep. In our society, it seems like everyone is always "tuned in," whether it's to the TV, tablet, smartphone or computer. All of these devices contain blue spectrum light. If you have these lights on at night or even later in the day, it interferes with your body's natural circadian rhythm, including its production of melatonin. In fact, light is one of the biggest problems for people in terms of sleep. How can you overcome the exposure and get a better night's rest?Ronald Bazar, author of Sleep Secrets: How to Fall Asleep Fast, Beat Fatigue and Insomnia and Get a Great Night's Sleep, advises to get your light earlier in the day so that you can regulate your sleep cycle by creating a healthy circadian rhythm. If you're someone who works the night shift, blue spectrum light is probably all around you. You can mitigate this by wearing blue blocking sunglasses, which will block the blue spectrum and prevent negative effects on your sleep schedule and your overall health.Bazar says you can also get software for your computers and tablets so they reduce the blue light as the day goes on. One specific company Bazar suggests is called f.lux.EMFs and EMRs can also impact your sleep, in part based on the constant pulsing of signals. Try to "unplug" before you go to sleep; turn off your routers and put your phone on airplane mode.Listen in as Bazar shares more tips for getting a good night's rest.
