Finding a quality school is always a challenge. Children’s Scholarship Fund is a privately funded program whose mission is to provide children from low income Philadelphia families with financial access to quality K-8 tuition based schools. Loraine Ballard Morrill speaks Executive Director Heather Frattone about the success of the program and how parents can apply for their kids.

Klezmer is the joyful music of celebration brought to the states by Yiddish-speaking Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe, who arrived around the turn of the 20th century. It was music mostly played by men - but Loraine Ballard Morrill talks with World Class Klezmer musician Susan Watts about her upcoming concert SOUL SONGS: INSPIRING WOMEN OF KLEZMER which will feature new compositions, written and performed by three generations of women who bring contemporary meaning to this traditional Eastern European Jewish folk music form.
October 28th Zellerbach Theater.
Loraine Ballard Morrill chats with Pedro Ramos, President and CEO of the Philadelphia Fund about On the Table Philly, a forum designed to elevate civic conversation, foster new relationships and create a unifying experience. In 2017, over 300 conversations were held across the region to highlight local and regional issues at the community level. The project is hoping to exceed that when it reconvenes November 8, 2018 and provide micro grants for some of the ideas generated from the conversations.

The Piketon Massacre
The Piketon Massacre
On the night of April 21, 2016 in rural Piketon, Ohio - eight members of the Rhoden family were viciously murdered execution style in their homes. Two years later in 2018, their neighbors, the Wagners, were arrested and charged with committing the largest massacre in Ohio’s history. Shocked by the arrests, this once close-knit and religious community remains divided and unable to cope. Was a respected and reputable Piketon family responsible for this unimaginable murder spree? Our team will examine the deep ties that connected both families. We’ll examine the evidence and possible motives for the crimes. For the first time we’ll speak with townspeople, psychological experts, respected investigators, friends and members of both families. Are the Wagners responsible for the murders, and if convicted, will they be executed? Or is it possible that there is still a murderer at large waiting to kill again?
